Dallas, Texas
"Thursday, it feels so far away", speaking between kisses as they attempted to part, neither really wanting to just yet, but well aware that at some point their families would both be expecting them home, Pam's comments resonated strongly with Bobby. It was hard to separate, both physically and emotionally; he was really growing to like Pam and there was absolutely no denying that he enjoyed the things she did to him and the way she made him feel; four days did feel like a long time to be away from that feeling and he didn't like that thought.
"Mm, I know", pressing her back against the side of his car, parked near a small neighbourhood park a couple of blocks from her house, he kissed her again, uninterested in letting her go for the time being. In all honesty, their lives weren't so busy that they couldn't find a couple of hours between Sunday and Thursday to see each other, it was mostly that he didn't want her to think all he wanted from her was a physical relationship. Now that they had taken that next step together, he did somewhat expect that their future dates would end in a hotel room, he didn't want to offend her by just inviting her to skip straight that in the small pockets of time they could get together though. Dating meant dating, and going to bed together, he could go to bed with any number of women if that was all he wanted though, but it wasn't, so behaving as if it was could be dangerous, especially with a confident, independent woman like Pamela.
"You know, we could figure something out; I know you'll be away tomorrow and Tuesday and you have plans with Jack on Wednesday, but if you wanted to, we could work around that", not sure he was hearing her correctly Bobby was silent in the moments following her comments, though he eventually did respond. "I think we could arrange something", grinning, he had a good feeling about Pam; she wanted to see him just as much as he did her. For Pam and their shaky history, her wanting to see more of him was a big deal, though to be fair, her looking after his needs in bed had also told him a lot; he rather enjoyed the lengths she went to to please him. Pam seemed to genuinely enjoy being with him which was good, because he very much enjoyed being with her too, although it was probably still too early to say whether they liked each other because they related on a personal level or because whatever romantic attraction they had to each other was clouding their vision.
"Mm, let's do that", leaning up to resume their kiss, Pam's thoughts were not all too different to Bobby's. It would be premature to label him the best lover she had ever had, especially considering she could mentally recall several exes that she had spent many enjoyable evenings with; what she did consider him was a man she wanted to get to know better and would enjoy getting to know better. She was strongly emotionally and physically attracted to Bobby, or what she knew of him at least, despite the fact that she also had to work at not holding his family history against him. It helped a lot that he seemed to have no objection to her taking control of things in the bedroom, she liked a man who didn't try to stifle her efforts, and she especially liked that he had made an effort to reciprocate her actions even when she was clearly taking the lead. It was one thing to let her take a little bit of control and cede to that but it was another to then decide that since she was taking the lead, effort was no longer required. There was nothing worse to her than a man who didn't even try once he realised she liked to participate, as if it wasn't worth it, because whether he did much of anything at all, she would create enough friction to tip him over the edge. Luckily, Bobby was nothing like that, in fact, he was quite the opposite, it had been a while since she'd been with a man with strong hands like his and she had rather enjoyed that experiences the previous evening and earlier in the morning. Whether or not they got anywhere near a bedroom wasn't the only thing on her mind though, she really did want to continue dating him, getting to know him. She liked him a lot and was willing to push aside her prior feelings about where he came from in order to get to know where he was going, and hopefully be a part of that future.
"Let's start with tonight. Family dinner doesn't go on all night, I do have to show my face though, I'm sure there will also be some sort of planning for the week ahead that I get dragged into. I could pick you up afterwards, we could go for dessert". Making a suggestion, Pam wasn't sure whether Bobby meant dessert literally or figuratively, either one was good with her though. "That sounds good", smiling up at him as she listened to his plans and responded, she felt optimistic, maybe, just maybe they could make things work between them despite their conflicting backgrounds, and if they couldn't, at least they were having fun in the meantime.
Hearing the sound of another car driving down the street, she was brought back to reality, as nice as it was to get lost in the dream world she found herself in when she was with Bobby, and reluctantly, she pulled back from him. "Now, believe me, I don't want to, but I really should go home, I have a lot to do before our dessert", unfortunately, she genuinely meant what she said, she had chores to do and errands to run before the new week started. There was no real hierarchy in her family but somehow she always ended up being the one who did the grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, and cooking, unless she wanted to live in a messy home or eat Chinese food every day as Cliff would choose to do if he was left alone. Her daddy tried as he could and was doing better lately than he had at times in the past, but still, she tried not to put too much on him; he lived between their family home and her aunt Maggie's home and that suited her lifestyle just fine. Financially, she could afford to move out into a small apartment any time she wanted, as could Cliff, however, neither of them wanted to feel like they were abandoning their father, not when he could go from high to low in a very short space of time.
"If you insist", putting his hands on her shoulders, Bobby looked at her seriously, standing in silence for a long while before slowly running his hands down her arms to grasp her hands, eventually gently pulling her back toward him and wrapping his arms around her in a way she was growing to love. Relaxing into his comforting hold on her, her opinion on whether it would be premature to call him her boyfriend was beginning to change. They had been on several dates and knew each other intimately now, plus, while she'd turned down other invitations for the weekend on account of her existing plans with Bobby, she was now sure that even if she was asked on a date by another man and she didn't have plans, she still wouldn't say yes. The question on her mind was whether Bobby would do the same for her; was she his girlfriend and would that matter when he left Dallas tomorrow on a teaching trip to show his cousin how to spread goodwill effectively. He made his job sound like it had some legitimacy to it, but it also sounded like it was an excuse to socialise with pretty women and call it a business expense. From the way he'd been with her recently she didn't get the feeling he was interested in anyone else, still though, assumptions weren't always correct and when men got together without their wives or girlfriends she knew they tended to encourage each other to do as they wished rather than spent the evening reminding each other of their home lives. She wasn't going to rush things and push him to make a commitment to her just yet, she would see how things were for them later in the evening and then perhaps ask him what his feelings about them were.
"Dessert", grinning at him as she responded to his serious, somewhat reluctant comments regarding the end of their date and the return to real life, she brought the tone back to that of the fun, flirty conversation they'd been having earlier, before kissing him one final time, giving him something to think about for the rest of the day. "I can't wait", grinning back at her as he opened the passenger door for her, it was clear that at that very moment, the only thing on his mind was her, a fact that pleased her greatly; she was beginning to get very comfortable with the idea of being his girl.
To be continued…
