…heeeyyy… I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I used to write this story? You know, the one about Kurt in a band and Blaine having twins? No? Can't remember? Ups!
Haha, sorry guys (if anyone is still reading this)! It's been forever! I'm not going to go into why it's been so long, and I can't promise a chapter every week, but I really want to finish this story! I still have school and everything, so it really isn't any time to write, but I'm gonna do my best! I am really sorry guys! I hope someone can forgive me and read this chapter. I think and hope it's a good one! I had to read the first story and the few chapters in this one again to remember it (haha), but I think I managed to continue from where we left off. I've gotten some reviews asking me to continue and this is what made me decide to do so! I am so happy you love it and I want to finish it for you guys 3
Annnd since it's been forever I don't have a beta anymore (someone wanna be?), so just a warning! It might be mistakes and weird things in here! Please just ignore those if you would be so kind.
So, if you don't have to read the whole thing because it's been so long, and you probably don't remember anything,
Enjoy
Never let me go
Chapter 5
"Hey Kurt, Jace here. So, I asked around and talked to some people, but… it looks like it's not going to work out. Sorry Kurt, I really tried. I'll talked to you later, okay? Bye"
Kurt sighs and drops his phone one the bed beside him. Not sure what to think or believe, he picks up his phone again and listens to the voicemail one more time.
Is this really happening?
Kurt knew there was a small chance they could move to New York, but a small part of him expected the answer to be a yes. Not a no.
He looks at his phone and realizes he only got an hour before meeting Blaine for lunch. His head is pounding from all the alcohol he drank last night, but he gets out of bed and into the shower. He wonders how Blaine is feeling today. They both got pretty drunk last night. And Iris? She was even worse. It was fun though, Kurt thinks with a smile as he walks out of the shower. He really needed a that. But now it's back to reality and it looks like Kurt is leaving in a few days.
Kurt finds something to wear and he tries to think about what to do. Should he tell Blaine he tried to stay? That he asked Jace if they could move here? Is there a point in doing that now? Kurt decides not to, since it will only make things worse. Telling him will not make the truth go away.
Suddenly he is nervous about meeting Blaine. What is he going to say? What will Blaine say?
Kurt takes the subway and walks to the café Blaine suggested. He looks around and finds a table since Blaine isn't here yet. Kurt waits nervously, his leg going up and down under the table. A part of him hopes Blaine has forgotten about their lunch so they don't have to talk about this today, but Kurt can't wait any longer. He needs to know what they are going to do. How they are going to work this out. He really hopes that Blaine has a good idea because Kurt is lost. He has no idea what they should do.
Finally, Blaine walks inside and spots Kurt. He smiles nervously as he walks over and sits down on the other chair, not greeting Kurt with a hug or a kiss. This upsets Kurt. He feels uneasy and suddenly a bit unwanted. Was Blaine entering this café with another outcome in mind than what Kurt had?
This only makes Kurt even more nervous.
"Hey… how are you?" he says, barely looking at Kurt.
"Hey" Kurt tilts his head to the side to see if this makes Blaine look at him. It doesn't though, so he continues, "I'm okay. What about you?"
"Tired" Blaine says and laughs a little, probably remembering last night.
Kurt looks down at his hands, smiling softly as he thinks about it too. They buy a coffee and a salad each and starts to eat, neither of them saying anything. Usually it didn't bother Kurt that they sat in silence, sometimes it was nice, but now it was awkward. This makes Kurt's nervous leg go even faster up and down. Blaine looks at his movement, but Kurt doesn't stop. He doesn't know how to stop right now.
"So, the wedding is this weekend" Blaine suddenly says, breaking the awkward silence, and Kurt looks up at him, "You're coming right?"
Kurt nods with small smile, "yeah, wouldn't miss it"
Blaine nods too, "good…" he hesitates before asking, "so… would you maybe… I don't know…"
Kurt can't help but smile as Blaine stumbles his way to the question Kurt knows he is going to ask. He waits, enjoying watching Blaine trying to find the words.
Blaine looks at Kurt and can see him smiling knowingly at him. He gives him a look before he tries again.
"Do you… want to go with me?"
"Where?" Kurt teases, trying to look confused but failing.
Blaine rolls his eyes, clearly trying to suppress a smile. Kurt sees this though and can't help but laugh a little. Kurt smiles, glad that the awkwardness is slightly better.
"Of course, I would love to go with you" Kurt finally says and Blaine smiles at him.
They eat some more of their salads in silence. That's a good sign, Kurt thinks to himself, that he wants to go with him to the wedding. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe Blaine had same hopes and thought about their relationship. He still needs to know though, just to be sure.
"So, should we maybe talk now? About…" Kurt makes an obvious face to make Blaine understand what he means.
He does and nod, "yeah, I guess we should… Have you thought about it? What we should do?"
"Yes, but honestly… I don't know what we should do. What about you?" Kurt asks, looking down at his food, too scared to look at Blaine.
"I don't know… But I can't just move Kurt, you understand that, right? I have to think about Dev and Ivy"
Kurt looks up at Blaine, "I know, but it's not easy for me to move here either"
"I know that… that's why I'm not asking you to. I don't want you to give up your dream, your career, for me."
"What if I want to?" Kurt asks desperately, "I don't want to lose you again, Blaine"
"Me neither, but you can't just leave the band. What about Quinn and the others? Have you even talked to them?"
"You sound like Jace" Kurt mumble as he rolls his eyes, not happy with the answer.
Blaine sighs, "I'm sorry, but I don't know what to say. I feel like there aren't any good options here"
"Look… I get that it's not easy to just leave everything and move, but can you just think about it for a second? We could get a house in L.A together and I'm sure there are good schools for the kids when they are old enough and – "
"Kurt" Blaine interrupts, shaking his head, "I told you, I can't move"
Kurt is getting desperate now, he can feel his pulse is rising, "why? I understand I'm asking for a lot here and I get that it's a big thing, but it's not impossible. I just don't understand why you have to be here? Don't you rather want to be with me?"
"So, I'm just supposed to drop everything and move for you? What about my family and friends? And my job? Yes, I know you don't like my job, but –"
Kurt scoffs, rolling his eyes before looking at Blaine again, "I never said I didn't like your job, I just think you can do better"
Both are trying not to raise their voice, to avoid attention, but is finding it difficult.
"I'm lucky to even have job, Kurt. If it wasn't for Frank being the kid's grandfather I probably wouldn't have any"
Kurt doesn't say anything as he looks down at his salad again. He didn't know Blaine's boss, Frank, was Devon and Ivy's grandfather. Blaine is silent too, probably calming down.
Suddenly Kurt isn't hungry anymore.
"I didn't know that…" Kurt finally says, "but I'm sure you can find something in L.A too. I can help you"
Blaine sigh heavily, rolling his eyes, "you really don't get it do you? I. don't. want. to. move!"
Blaine's says the last part loudly, maybe a little too loud since most of the people in the café looks over to where they are sitting. Kurt dares a small glance around at them before down at his hands. He doesn't say anything. He doesn't know what to say. Blaine doesn't want to move with him. It's not that he can't, he just doesn't want to.
After a few minutes without anyone saying anything, Kurt looks up at Blaine again. He finds it difficult to look him in the eyes though as he asks the question he's been pondering about for the last few minutes.
"Do you… do you even want to be with me?" he whispers, hoping Blaine can hear him so he doesn't have to say it ever again.
"Kurt…" Blaine says, sounding hurt, "of course I do. But you can't expect this of me. Just like I'm not expecting you to drop everything to stay here"
"Than what are we supposed to do? Couse' it sounds like you're giving up"
Blaine frowns slightly, looking angry now, "just because I can't come with you? I want this to work too, Kurt. But I have other things to think about too"
Kurt nods with a sigh, looking down at his hands again. The food is completely forgotten. It doesn't even look good anymore. He can even feel the food judging him at this moment. And who can blame it? Kurt knows he is asking for a lot, but what else can he do? Quit the band? A part of Kurt would do it, so he can be with Blaine, but another part of him can't. He can't do that to the others. They have all worked so hard to get to where they are. And Kurt knows he doesn't want it to be over. He loves playing in the band. It's been his life for five years. But he wants Blaine to be a part of his life too.
When they both have calmed down a bit, Blaine mumbles with a hushed voice, "maybe this wasn't a good idea…"
Kurt looks up at this with a frown. Is Blaine saying what he thinks he's saying?
Blaine takes a moment before continuing, shaking his head, "we both knew you were leaving. I guess I hoped you weren't… that's why I let it get this far, but…"
Kurt doesn't say anything, not trusting his voice. He doesn't even know what to say. He only looks at Blaine with a hurt expression as he tries to find the right words.
"I think…" Blaine hesitates, swallowing, "I think I just missed the feeling of us, you know? I haven't had anything like that since we broke up and… I wanted to stop things before it got too deep. I didn't want any of us to get hurt again… and I didn't want the kids to get too attached to you… but I just couldn't" Blaine tilts his head slightly and looks at him with those beautiful hazel eyes Kurt can't get enough of, "I love you, Kurt. I always have. And the moment you came back I was ready to jump right back into your life like nothing had happened, like you hadn't broken my heart… and that scares me"
"Wait… wait…" Kurt shakes his head and looks at Blaine with a desperate look, not understanding what is going on, "what are you saying?"
Blaine sighs and looks at Kurt with tears in his eyes. Kurt knows what that look means. He hasn't seen it many times before, and he wished he would never again, but he knows what it means.
"No" Kurt says and shakes his head, sitting up in his chair.
"Kurt…" Blaine sighs and looks down, clearly not being able to look at Kurt.
Kurt takes a deep breath and clenches his jaw, "I want you to say it".
Blaine looks up at this and shakes his head with surprise. He doesn't say anything though.
Kurt suddenly feels a heat of anger rising all the way up from his toes and to his head. He can't believe this is happening right now. They just got back together, and everything was so good. Of course it would be hard living in two different cities thousands of miles away from each other, but it could work. At least Kurt was willing to give it a try. Blaine was just giving up!
"Come on, say it. If that's what you want, you have to say it" Kurt pushes, making Blaine look at him with a look Kurt hasn't seen before.
"Don't get mad" he says instead, and Kurt rolls his eyes.
"I'm not the one giving up here"
"I'm just trying to do the right thing!" Blaine says and again some of the guest at the café looks at them.
Neither of them cares this time though.
"How is this the right thing?!" Kurt asks just as loud as Blaine did.
"You know why. I can't think like you, I have the kids. I can't just move wherever and whenever I want! I actually have obligations and others to think about!"
More people are watching at this point and some gasps slightly at the drama of it all. Whispers can be heard around the room. Kurt stands up and walks towards the door, not wanting the attention right now. Blaine walks after him.
"Oh, so now you're just walking away?" Blaine calls after him, rolling his eyes.
Kurt stops and turns around, making Blaine stop too, "no! I just don't want everyone listening. I –"
"Oh my god! Are you Kurt Hummel? Can we please take a picture with you?" A girl in her teens says with a big bright smile, two other girls looking just as happy is standing behind her.
Kurt is surprised by the sudden interruption and needs a minute to collect himself. After doing so and taking a second to glance over at Blaine, he nods with a smile. He notices Blaine has folded his arms and looking slightly annoyed. After taking a selfie with the three girls and they run away laughing and blushing as they go, Kurt walks over to Blaine.
"Come on" he only says and starts to walk towards the subway, hearing a sigh form Blaine before he follows.
They don't say anything as they enter the train. Blaine sits down at one of the seats on the left side and Kurt, not wanting to make Blaine uncomfortable, sits on the right side opposite Blaine. They steal a few looks at each other, but other than that the train ride consists of not acknowledging the other one's present. The walk up to Kurt's apartment is no different.
Kurt walks to the kitchen, noticing no one else is here. He finds a beer and looks at Blaine as to ask if he wants one. Blaine shakes his head no and sits down by the counter. Kurt opens the beer and stands on the other side of Blaine, leaning against the counter. He had hoped that he would calm down on the way to the apartment, but that hadn't worked. He was still angry and upset.
"What are you thinking?" Blaine almost whispers.
Kurt takes a sip and shrugs, "does it matter?"
Blaine rolls his eyes, "of course it does"
Kurt raises an eyebrow and looks at Blaine. He takes another sip, waiting.
"Can we not do this?" Blaine says with a sigh, "Can we not make this harder than it already is? I'm sorry that the situation is like this, I wish it wasn't. But I don't know what else to tell you"
"Just say it, Blaine. You are the one making this hard"
"You're being childish!" Blaine says annoyed, rolling his eyes.
"Well isn't that how you like it? I thought you were used to that kind of behavior?"
Blaine's mouth opens slightly and gives a 'what did you just say to me' look, "excuse me?"
Kurt regrets it as soon as it comes out. He knows that was uncalled for, but for some reason he doesn't want Blaine to know that.
Kurt rolls his eyes, "it was joke"
"Perfect timing to make a hilarious joke, Kurt" Blaine says sarcastic.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that" Kurt says, giving in. He doesn't want to fight about this too.
"Right" Blaine stands up and walks towards the door.
"Wait!" Kurt quickly run towards Blaine to stop him.
Blaine turns around, a hurt look on his face.
"I'm sorry" Kurt says as he moves closer.
He cups Blaine's face in both his hands and looks into those hazel eyes. Blaine leans into the touch with a sigh.
"I'm just pissed, okay? I don't want to let you go" Kurt says honestly and can feel Blaine nod slightly in his hands.
"Me neither"
Blaine closes his eyes and Kurt moves even closer so their lips touch. At first Blaine doesn't kiss Kurt back, but eventually he can't resist any longer. The kiss is sweet for a few seconds before Kurt deepens it. Blaine sigh into the kiss and folds his arms around Kurt's waist to bring him closer.
Blaine's lips parts slightly, just giving enough room for Kurt to enter his tongue and connect it with Blaine's. Both moans and Kurt feel himself being pushed backwards. After a few steps, his ass hits the counter Blaine had just been sitting at. This makes Kurt groan inside Blaine's mouth and push his hips slightly forward. Blaine gasps at this and returns the movement, kissing Kurt more forcefully.
The door suddenly opens and Quinn and Dylan walks in. Blaine quickly moves away from Kurt and looks down at his hands, blushing slightly.
"Hey…" Quinn mumbles and Dylan gives them a nod, smirking at them for being caught in the action.
Quinn and Puck haven't talked since the whole crazy drunk night thing. Puck had tried, but Quinn had just left the room or put her earplugs into her ears.
"Hey… where's Puck?" Kurt looks at Dylan, knowing Quinn isn't going to answer that.
"Right behind us." He glances a look at Quinn before continuing, "we met him by the elevator, but… he wasn't allowed to get in with us…"
Kurt only nods, he doesn't want Quinn to think she is being immature or something. He doesn't think that of course, but they had to talk at some point. Kurt didn't exactly have a say though, the way he's been acting with Blaine.
Puck walks in and the tension gets even worse. Kurt looks over at Blaine to see if he is okay and finds him still looking at his hands.
"Hey guys" he says, but looks at Quinn, "can we please talk? I'm going crazy here"
Quinn ignores him, "hey Dylan, did you hear? I've got a date when we get back to L.A"
Puck, Kurt and Blaine tenses as Quinn says this. Puck because of the mention of a date with another dude. Kurt and Blaine because of the mention of L.A and the reminder of the band leaving soon.
"No…" Dylan says unsure, switching his eyes back and forth between Quinn and Puck.
"What, who?" Puck says angry, but still gets ignored.
"Yeah, it's-it's… Jackson" she says with a nod, clearly lying.
When Quinn says this though Kurt and Dylan frowns before rolling their eyes. Blaine frowns too, but not for the same reason. Kurt has forgotten to tell him about the quarreling couple.
"Jackson?" Kurt says, looking at Quinn with a confused look.
Quinn only nods and Dylan can't help but grin.
"Who's that? And the hell you are!" Puck says even more angry than before.
Quinn folds her arms and forces her eyes to look at him, "this is none of your business and you can't stop me" she simply says.
"Yes, I can!" Puck says, raising his voice.
"Why can you stick your tongue in every slut you meet, but I can't go on a date?" Quinn asks, just as angry as Puck.
"How many times do I have to say this? I was drunk, I didn't see shit and she kissed me. I would never do something like that to you, you know that! I love you. I'm sorry!"
"Isn't Jackson the one Kurt slept with?" Dylan asks, smirking slightly at Kurt.
Kurt glares at Dylan before daring a small look over at Blaine, who looks more uncomfortable by the minute.
"Oh yeah is that right?" Puck says, looking at Quinn who is glaring at Dylan too, "sound like a fun date already"
Quinn groans in frustration and walks away, slamming the bedroom door after her.
"One sec" Kurt says to Blaine and walks towards Quinn. He opens the door and looks at her laying on the bed. He sighs and lies down beside her. They look at each other, Quinn with tears in her eyes.
"Quinn..." Kurt moves closer and hugs her.
She starts to sob into his chest. Kurt didn't really think how hurt Quinn was. They have been together for many years now, so of course she would be sad. Kurt feels a pang of guilt for not being here for her earlier. They never really do this; cry or talk about feelings. When Kurt thinks about it, he can't remember seeing Quinn cry before.
"I'm sorry" she finally says, and Kurt shakes his head, "you should go back to Blaine. Sorry to make a scene when you guys were obviously about to fuck or something"
Kurt scoffs with a small laugh. Sadly, as it is, that was not the case. It was probably the last time they would ever kiss.
"I'm actually glad you interrupted" Kurt says with a sigh and Quinn looks up at him with a frown, "tell you later" he only says.
After a few more minutes, Quinn sits up and dry her cheeks with her palms.
"You okay?" Kurt asks, tilting his head slightly to the side.
"I'll be fine. He just pisses me off sometimes"
Kurt only nods before remembering something.
"So, Jackson, huh?" he says with a grin, not being able to help himself.
Quinn rolls her eyes, but laughs a little, "first one I could think of. Sorry to bring him up around Blaine"
Kurt shakes his head, "no, it's fine… but speaking of Blaine… I should get back"
Quinn nods, "yeah do that, I'm just going to stay here"
Kurt nods too and stands up. Before he walks out of the room he gives his friend a smile as to say everything will be okay and that he will always be here for her. Quinn gives him a small smile before Kurt closes the door.
When he gets back though, he can't see Blaine. He looks in his bedroom too but can't find him. He sees Dylan.
"Have you seen Blaine?"
"Oh, he left… sorry" Dylan says, "is Quinn okay?"
Kurt only nods. Why would Blaine just leave like that? He sends him a text and walks to his bedroom. A few minutes later he gets a response.
Sorry, needed to get back to the twins. Sorry I didn't say goodbye. Guess it got a bit too intense in there. Hope Quinn is okay. And I'm sorry about everything before that too. We'll figure something out, okay? I love you no matter what. -B
Kurt lets out a sigh before falling down on his bed. This was a confusing, weird day…
oooo
Blaine takes a big breath before opening the door.
"Daddy!" Devon says and runs towards him.
Blaine smiles and opens his arms to catch his little boy. He lifts his son up and gives him a hug before he can hear Ivy coming too.
"Daddy!" she says too with a big smile.
Blaine bends down to embrace his daughter and hug them both.
"Well, hello there" he says with a smile, "have you missed me?"
Blaine looks down at four hazel eyes as they nod. Blaine can't help but feel a little better now. This was a long day and he really needed something else to think about. He went to the café hopeful that they could work something out, but he realized quickly there really wasn't a good outcome from this situation. Or was it? If it was, what would that be? Like he said to Kurt several times before; he can't move.
Blaine pushes the thoughts away and focuses on Ivy who is telling him something. He can think later.
"– and-and Scoop… umm… he draw with us!" she says telling about their day.
"Really? Can I see?" Blaine asks, and Ivy and Devon follow him to the living room.
Ivy begins with showing one of her drawings. Blaine can see a person with a very big head, but he lets her explain all the details.
"That is you daddy" she says and points at the person she had drawn with a purple crayon, "and that is me!" she says with a big smile and points at a red circle with four lines coming out of it.
"Wow, that's great" Blaine says with a smile.
Devon wants to show his daddy one too and lifts his drawing up to Blaine's face.
"I draw you too!" he says, and Blaine looks at the drawing with a smile.
"I can see that! It looks great"
Cooper walks in behind Blaine, "hey, buddy"
Blaine turns around and gives him a nod before focusing on the twins again. After Ivy has explained all her eight drawings, which most of them only has a few lines on (Blaine told her to not use so much drawing paper, but she said they were done after just one line and wanted to start on a new one), and Devon his three, Blaine tells them to get ready for dinner. Both the kids run to the bathroom and Blaine can hear Ivy telling Devon he has to wait in line. Blaine rolls his eyes at this with a smile. They probably got told to do this at the kindergarten.
"Is dinner ready? Or is there anything I can do?" Blaine asks Cooper, who shakes his head and tells him everything is ready.
When the twins don't come back and he can hear the water still running, Blaine goes to the bathroom to check on them. Devon is the one standing on the stool and leaning over the sink to wash his hands. He looks up at Blaine with an innocent smile and Blaine can hear Ivy laughing beside him. He looks at them both and can see their clothes are drenched and the floor is wet form all the water. He gives them a stern look and the twins stop smiling.
"Why did you this? Look, now your clothes are all wet! Was that a good idea?" Blaine turns off the water and lifts Devon up, so he doesn't walk on the wet floor.
He tells Ivy to follow and brings them to their bedroom. Both twins sit down on the floor and waits as Blaine finds new, dry clothes for them to wear. He decides to just find their pj's since it's almost bedtime anyway. He helps them change, not saying much. He doesn't want to get mad at them today too. And it looks like they both understand they did something wrong.
When Ivy is ready, Blaine turns to Devon to help him. He has taken his socks off and his sweater is around his neck. He looks down, not looking at Blaine. He looks upset, a tear running down his cheek. Blaine sighs and takes his sweater off. Devon rarely did anything to make someone mad or upset, so when he did he got very guilty.
"Devon… daddy isn't mad anymore now, it's okay" Blaine can't help it, he hates seeing his children upset.
Devon looks at his dad, as does Ivy. Blaine looks at them both, "but I don't like it when you do things like this, okay?"
They nod and Blaine finish helping Devon, so they can go eat. When they enter the kitchen, Cooper puts the last plate on the table.
"Anyone hungry?" he asks, and both kids jump up and down saying yes.
Blaine gives Cooper a thankful smile and he nods, understanding what Blaine means.
After dinner the kids run to the living room and finds something to play with. Blaine and Cooper are still sitting at the kitchen table.
"You okay?" Cooper asks, looking at Blaine with a frown, "you're quiet"
Blaine shrugs, "Long day…I talked to Kurt today and… he's leaving in a few days"
"Oh…" Cooper says surprised, "what're you gonna do?"
Blaine shrugs again, shaking his head, "it's not much to do, Coop… He is going back to L.A and I'm staying here"
Cooper nods, "I'm sorry, Blaine"
Blaine doesn't say anything. He isn't sure what to say. He isn't even sure he wants to talk about this anymore.
"What does Kurt say?"
Blaine look up at Cooper with a sad smile, "he's mad… can't say I blame him. He thinks that I'm giving up on us" Cooper frowns at this and Blaine explains, "he asked me to go with him to L.A"
Cooper's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, "wow… and you said no?"
Blaine gives his brother an obvious look, "of course, I can't just move to L.A! I have the kids and you… and-and Frank and Iris and Rachel a– "
"Blaine! Relax, I get it"
Blaine looks at Cooper with a surprised look. He thought he would have to convince him too. He was happy someone understood.
"So… what happens now? You just… pretend it never happened?"
"No…" Blaine frowns at that idea, he never wants to forget about Kurt, "I guess we… we try to… move on"
Xx
It's the day of the wedding. Rachel and Finn are actually getting hitched. Blaine smiles for their happiness but can't help but feel both sad and jealous today. The thought of him and Kurt standing at the altar runs through his head and he hates himself for even thinking about it. It's been two days since they talked, except a few texts yesterday:
Do you still want to go together tomorrow? -K
Yes -B
Blaine had only given Kurt a yes and nothing more, but he didn't know what else to say and he didn't know what they were anymore. He wasn't even sure if he should say yes. But he was the one who asked so he didn't want to be rude and suddenly withdraw that offer. And besides, even though it would be hard and painful, he wanted to go with Kurt. As much as he hated to even think it, it might be a long time before they see each other again… if they ever do.
Blaine looks at himself in the mirror, straightening his light pink tie around his neck and the pink flower on his jacket. He is wearing a grey suit that might be a bit tighter than the last time he wore it, but Rachel had insisted on him wearing it since it fitted perfectly to the wedding theme colors.
Blaine hear someone whistle behind him and turns around. Cooper looks over Blaine with raised eyebrows. He is wearing a simple black suit that fits perfectly.
"Damn, little brother, didn't think you pulled of a suit that well!"
Blaine shakes his head with a little scoff, "thanks…" he says, not really believing what his brother is saying, "so Frank called, he'll be here in fifteen minutes, will you be ready by then?"
Cooper nods and walks into the bathroom. Blaine takes a deep breath as he looks back at his reflection. He is nervous. Nervous to meet everyone again. Some he hasn't talked to since high school. Blaine realize Burt and Carol is going to be there and this only makes him more nervous. What will they think of him? Has Kurt told them about the twins? Has he even told them that they are talking again?
Blaine lets out a sigh, this will be an interesting day. Blaine looks at the clock and realize they soon need to go. And like he read his mind, Frank knocks on the door. Blaine walks over and opens it with a smile.
"Hey, Blaine" he says with a smile and walks in when Blaine steps to the side to let him in, giving him a thank you.
"Hey, the kids are playing in their room. Thanks again for doing this"
"Of course," Frank smiles, "I miss my little cutie-pies!"
Blaine smiles at the nickname, "they miss you too. So, you okay with having them all day? You can just call, and I'll be here" Blaine assures the older man.
He shakes his head though, "no, no, we'll be fine. You enjoy yourself, okay? You don't get to do this as often anymore"
Blaine knows Frank will take good care of the twins, but it's not easy for him to be away for so long. It will be the whole day… He nods though, knowing he doesn't have much of a choice.
"So, who was the man that came by the shop? I meant to ask you about it but forgot" he says with a smile and looks at Blaine with a curious look.
"Oh," Blaine trails off, not sure what to say. He didn't expect this question. "he's an old friend from high school"
Blaine wasn't lying but didn't exactly say the whole truth either. Frank know Blaine is gay, so it isn't about that, but rather that Blaine doesn't know how to explain it.
Frank nods and thinks for a second, "isn't he… isn't he in that band who had a concert here not so long ago? The…" he tries to remember the name.
"…demons of the neighborhood?" Blaine asks.
"Yes, that's the one!" Frank says and points at Blaine as a sign to tell him he is correct.
Blaine nods, "yeah, he is" surprised Frank knows this, but realizes quickly he can't expect anything else from a guy that works at a music store.
Before Frank can ask Blaine more about this, Cooper walks out of the bathroom and towards the two still standing in the hallway/living room.
"Frank! Good to see you, how's it going?" he says with a big smile, taking the other man's hand.
Frank nods, "good, good. How are you?"
"Good. I convinced Olivia to go with me today, so that's progress" he says with a big smile, referring to his wife and Frank smiles at hearing this.
"That's good. I hope it works out"
"I'll go get the kids" Blaine says and walks towards the bedroom, knocking softly on the door before walking inside.
"Grandpa is here!" he says, and the kids looks up at him with big eyes.
Both the kids scream with joy as they run out of the door. Blaine laugh as he watches them. He looks at his watch and gasp slightly.
"We have to go, Coop" he says and finds his phone, wallet and keys.
His brother nods, smiling at the twins hugging and kissing their grandfather who is laughing and telling the kids how nice of a greeting this was. Blaine smiles too before telling the kids he and uncle Scoop needs to go. This makes the twins' smiles vanish.
"Noo!" they both says and runs to their daddy.
Blaine kneels to catch them, "yes, we have to, but you guys are going to have so much fun with grandpa!"
"No!" Ivy says angry with tears in her eyes.
Devon is hugging Blaine, gripping his jacket, and crying. Blaine sigh, it was always like this when Blaine had to leave them. They didn't exactly make this any easier than it already was. The people working at the kindergarten told him he just had to say he was going, give them a hug, and then go. No dwelling. It was easy for them to say! But Blaine knew they were right. It didn't make the separation any easier for them if Blaine was crying too and not wanting to leave. He had to be strong for them. And that meant he needed to be strong now too.
"Yes, daddy have to go, but you know what?" Blaine said, trying to sound excited. The kids only cried more, not looking at their daddy, "grandpa is going to find some coldy and maybe a movie to watch! Doesn't that sound great?"
"Noo" both the twins cry, their grip around Blaine tightening.
"Or maybe we can go feed the ducks?" Frank says, knowing how much the kids love doing that.
Blaine sighs and after giving them both a kiss on the head he struggles his way out of the twins' small hands. This only makes them cry even more. They try to hold around their father again, but the attempt is unsuccessful.
Blaine looks at Frank and he nods, "it's okay, we'll be okay"
Blaine nods. They had talked about this and it wasn't the first time either. The twins always started like this and cried for a little while longer after Blaine left, but always calmed down and enjoyed their time with whoever was watching them. But for some reason, this time is worse. They are even more upset than they usually are.
"Can you text me when they have calmed down?" Blaine says and looks down at the twins.
They had crawled over to their daddy again and was holding around his legs. Frank nods and lifts the twins away, so Blaine and Cooper can go. Blaine gives his kids a smile and walks out of the door, trying to ignore the screams he can hear on the other side of the door.
When they walk out to the sidewalk, Blaine inhale the fresh air, trying not to think too much about his kids upstairs. He walks towards the road to hail a cab.
"You okay?" Cooper asks behind him and Blaine gives him a look before watching a cab stopping.
He tells the cabdriver where they are going before answering his brother, "yeah, of course"
Cooper rolls his eyes, which Blaine notices, "I know you aren't, but we don't have to talk about it"
"It's not the first time I leave them, Coop" Blaine looks out the window.
"I know, but that was pretty intense. It's been a while since they've reacted like that"
Blaine doesn't answer so Cooper drops it. Instead Blaine looks at his watch and curses.
"We're going to be late and I'm the best man…"
"Only a few minutes, I'm sure that's okay" Cooper comfort.
Blaine sends a quick text massage to Rachel, telling her sorry. She responds five minutes later telling him it's okay. It only takes ten minutes more before they are at the church. Cooper tells him he can pay so Blaine can run inside. He gives him a quick nod before getting out of the cab.
"I'm sorry!" he says, breathless after running around trying to find the right room, "the kids-kids… crying" he got out.
"It's okay Blaine! Isn't the bride supposed to be a little late?" Rachel says with a smile.
Blaine finally looks over Rachel and his mouth drops slightly. Wow, she looks stunning. It was a simple white dress with lazes and a big bottom, but still light and flowy; perfect for a summer wedding. Her hair is slightly pulled back, so all her brown hair is resting on her back. She has similar pink flowers in her hair as the one Blaine is wearing on his chest. The whole look is typical Rachel, Blaine thinks with a smile.
"Can I just say…" Blaine begins, his breath more even now, "that I'm regretting losing you all those years ago now?" he jokes.
Blaine gives Rachel a smirk and Rachel laughs with a shrug, "your loss"
Blaine laughs at this and gives Rachel a kiss on the cheek, "you look absolutely amazing. Finn is a lucky guy"
Rachel looks down at her dress, never letting her smile disappear, "really?"
Blaine nods when she looks up at him again and she gives him a big smile, tears in her eyes, "okay, we need to go now!"
"Oh my god, yes, sorry!" Blaine suddenly remembers why they are here.
They walk out of the room and towards where her fathers are waiting by a big door. They smile when they see their daughter and compliments her. She gives them both a hug, all three with tears in their eyes.
"Blaine!" someone says behind him and he turns around.
He gives a nervous smile at the girls. Mercedes and Tina are walking over, wearing similar pink dresses, both smiling at him excitedly. They both gives him a hug. Before they can say anything else; Artie, Sam and Mike are coming over as well. They all say hello to Blaine with a hug as well and Blane can only smile, feeling overwhelmed.
"How are you, man?"
Blaine is about to respond when someone choughs slightly. He looks up and gasps, maybe a little too loud since everyone looks at him, but he doesn't care. All he can think about is Kurt.
Kurt. Standing in front of him wearing a grey suit as well, only a little darker than the one Blaine is wearing. He has the same light pink tie, that Rachel bought, and the same pink flower on his chest. The suit is… fitted… damn… and his hair is styled in a way Blaine has never seen before; short on the sides and his bangs styled perfectly upwards, making it high and smooth. Blaine swallows, licking his dry lips when he realizes Kurt is looking over him too. This was going to be a long day. Not that Blaine is complaining.
Kurt walks closer, everyone watching, and gives Blaine a little smile. They look at each other and Blaine can see Kurt's eyes darken slightly. It takes every power in Blaine's body right now not to get hard in his pants. That would be awkward; walking down the aisle with a boner.
Everyone is still watching them, and it looks like most of them are holding their breaths. They don't know Kurt and Blaine has already met. Before anyone can say anything, Rachel comes over.
"Okay, places, places!" she says, clapping her hands as if this is right before a Broadway show is starting. Blaine smiles at this before finding his spot.
He is the first to go in. With Kurt. He apparently was Finn's best man. Everyone neglected to tell Blaine this of course before Rachel told him yesterday.
Kurt looks at him as they wait for everyone to get ready, "hey…" he says, his voice low, which makes Blaine shiver.
"Hey" he only says back and looks straight ahead again. He notices Kurt grins before doing the same.
This isn't helping the situation in his pants at all!
Thankfully, they don't have the time to exchange more words as the music starts and the door opens. Nervously, Blaine starts to walk. Kurt is right beside him as they are walking towards the front where Finn is standing. Blaine suddenly remember that he must smile and gives the guests his best smile. When they are half way through the aisle, Kurt's hand brushes his and Blaine stops breathing for a few seconds. Kurt takes it as they walk, and Blaine must remember to keep smiling. He swallows hard and looks at the guest smiling as they walk by. He can see Burt and Carol at the front row and feel like passing out when they see him too. At first, they look at him with a surprised look before smiling. Blaine gives them a shaky smile before looking down. He can't watch more people looking at him. He can feel Kurt tightening the hold around Blaine's hand and this makes Blaine feel better. When they get to the front, Kurt walk to stand beside Finn, and Blaine on the other side.
As they wait for the others to come to the front, Blaine uses this opportunity to look at Kurt. Thoughts of them standing here, but not as best man's, comes back to Blaine. He quickly looks away though when Kurt turns to look at him. Blaine hopes he didn't notice, and besides Rachel is coming so it wouldn't be polite to stare at Kurt. Totally a coincident!
When Rachel comes closer, Blaine watches Finn smile at her as he takes her hand. As they find their places and the priest comes over, Blaine can't help but let his eyes wander over Kurt again. He can't help but bit his lip, but quickly smiles again so he doesn't get caught. His eyes don't leave Kurt though and Kurt notice this. He looks back, first with a soft smile, but when Blaine doesn't break their connection, he stares right back with lustful eyes. He licks his lips and Blaine can't help but to follow Kurt's tongue as he does it. Damn it, this is not appropriate! They are at a wedding. Clearly Kurt reads his mind and gives him a smirk before looking back at the couple who is kissing. Blaine looks at them too and starts to clap when the room breaks into applause.
After the ceremony, everyone gathers at this beautiful rooftop-garden in Greenwich Village. It is beautifully decorated. There is a big open space on the right side with a big stage, and tables on the left side ready to be seated at. On the stage there is a band already playing some soft music. It is a big place and you would think 80-90 people here would be crowded, but it isn't. It's just enough room for everyone to have a good time.
Blaine walks around looking at the tables. He tells himself he is doing this to find his seat, but in reality, he is doing this to avoid people. No one needs to know that though.
"Stop avoiding people?"
Blaine turns around and rolls his eyes, "I'm not avoiding anyone"
Why did his brother have to know him so well?
Cooper only gives him a look, "sure, you're just walking here by yourself pretending to look for your name" he says sarcastically with a grin.
"Shut up" Blaine says, but can't help to give himself away with a smile.
Olivia, Cooper's wife, comes over with a sad smile, "why are you hear alone avoiding everyone?" she asks, looking worried.
Cooper laughs at this and Blaine rolls his eyes, "why does everyone think I'm avoiding people?"
"Because you are"
Blaine glares at this brother and Olivia chuckles. Blaine looks over at her, changing the subject, "it's good to see you. It's been too long. How are you?"
Olivia gives him a hug, still chuckling, "I know! I'm good actually," she glances over at Cooper, "really good"
Blaine lifts an eyebrow at them but doesn't comment on it. What is that all about?
"So, you should go talk to Kurt. I saw you guys practically eye-fucking each other at the church"
Blaine blushes and can see Olivia grinning, "we did not!"
"Oh, I can't wait to meet this guy! He looks so handsome" Olivia says with a big sneaky smile.
Blaine narrow his eyes in suspicion. You can never know what is going on when the two of them collaborates. They are so similar sometimes it's scary. And right now, Blaine hates it.
"Let's go say hi" Cooper suggests, and Olivia agrees.
Cooper takes her hand, which Blaine again raises an eyebrow at, before turning around to look for Kurt. He's easy to spot so they waist no time to go to him. Blaine groans, but follows the pair. He wants to say hi to Kurt too!
Kurt is standing with Quinn and Dylan, talking about something. Blaine notice Puck standing not too fare away looking at them. Blaine gives him a sad look before focusing again on what is happening in front of him. Kurt looks up when they approach, and the two others follow suit. Blaine only looks at Kurt though. Like before, he can't seem to take his eyes away from this incredible hot man.
"Kurtie!" Cooper says, and Kurt looks away from Blaine. Blaine still stares though.
"This is my hot, beautiful wife Olivia" he continues, and Olivia playfully hits her husbands' arm, grinning.
They are so back together, Blaine thinks to himself with a smile. When Kurt catches his smile, Blaine can't help but lick his lips. Kurt stares at this and Blaine wants to do it again. He doesn't though when he notices Cooper is watching them.
Kurt looks at Olivia again with a charming smile, "it's very nice to meet you"
He presents his hand for Olivia to take. After shaking his, she greets the two other bandmembers too.
Kurt takes a good look over Olivia and smirks, making Blaine swoon at that smile, "so how does it happen?" he asks her, and this makes Blaine come back to reality, "someone like you settling for someone like him I mean" Kurt nods over at Cooper, still smirking.
Cooper makes a dramatic gasp and Oliva and the rest of the group laugh. Blaine can't help but smile at Kurt, struggling not to roll his eyes at his adorableness. Blaine have missed this Kurt. And he looks so hot… making jokes and smirking… and smirking…
"I don't want to talk to you anymore" Cooper says like a little child, even pulling out his tongue, and takes Olivia's hand.
"Nice meeting you guys!" she calls over her shoulder with a laugh as Cooper drags her away.
Blaine looks at them leave and can only smile. He is happy they have figured stuff out. Maybe he can finally have his apartment back.
When Blaine turns back, he notices Kurt is the only one standing there. He quickly looks around but can't see the rest of the band. This only makes Blaine happy though. He doesn't mind being alone with Kurt.
"Hey…" he says, just like he did in the church and Blaine can't help but shiver this time too.
Before Blaine can respond, Kurt tells him, "you look amazing" as he looks over Blaine.
Blaine takes a deep breath and tries to smile, "you-you too… really good…" he trails off as he looks at Kurt's hips.
This makes Kurt smirk and he moves a little closer. He whispers so only Blaine can hear, "those pants shouldn't be legal…"
Blain stops breathing. Can his voice even go any lower? Seriously?! He can feel his face turning hotter, but he smirks back.
He shouldn't be enjoying this. They should be angry at each other or something. They just had a big fight. They should avoid each other, not practically dry humping each other. Why wasn't Kurt upset? Why wasn't he? Why was everything they said to each other last time forgotten? Whatever the reason was, Blaine didn't care. Kurt was here, looking hot as ever, saying all these perfect sexy things. That was all he needed right now.
Blaine licks his lips again at the thought, and Kurt follow his tongue with his eyes. Blaine looks down at Kurt's too. Oh, how he wanted to just taste those soft lips. Lick them… kiss them…
"Blaine…?"
Kurt looks over Blaine's shoulder and Blaine turns around. He swallows hard, his throat is dry. He had been thinking about Kurt without his suit. On the bed. Moaning. His pants are really tight right now and the last thing he needs is for Burt and Carole standing in front of him. Which they are.
"Mr.-" Blaine clears his throat to speak more clearly, "Mr. and Mrs. Hummel… how are you?"
I know… ups and downs! I don't like it myself (well, the downs I like ofc), but I think it's necessary. It's not easy living in two different cities! I personally like this chapter, I'm actually happy with it. And I really hope, if someone reads it, you liked it too! Tell me what you think. And I hope it wasn't too many mistakes. Let's just say I'm rusty after such a long break. Next up: the rest of the wedding. And we know how weddings can be ;) So again, tell me your thoughts!
LOL Nina
