IXXX

Kirito was having a blast on GGO. He and Sinon had become a rather decent working pair. With him being able to deflect bullets, effectively flushing their opponents out into the open, only for a .50Cal Rifle to part them from the game with between the eye's accuracy.

However, there had been the incident. He shuddered in game, that had been not only painful but also embarrassing.

(Flashback)

After meeting Spiegel. A friend of Sinon's and had been screwed over by a recently found dead player XeXeed who had said "AGI, weighted players were the current meta…", only to find out that it was the STR players who would benefit.

Kirito had remained impassive but inside had cheered. He wasn't taking the satisfaction that a person had died, but grateful that they had been taught a lesson. Harry had always told him "don't put ALL into STR. But STR helps unless you're in D&D where Con and Dex are where it's at.

The duo, after saying goodbye entered the training room. Where Sinon had promptly stripped to her knickers and bra. "You're not getting changed? We're the same gender-wise right?"

Kirito chuckled slightly "Ah ha ha, Sinon-san…This is tough to explain." With that he revealed everything.

The slap he received was something amazing.

Watching

Everyone watched or listened. Harry and Asuna looked up as the slap connected. "Kaz…you baka."

(End Flashback)

"Kirito, thanks…for helping me out with everything…Let's try and win this."

(Real World)

Hidden behind his computer screen, headphones on. Someone was listening to the blather and babble on the live chat of GGO. The conversation eventually came up about the tragic deaths of the two missing players.

The young man smirked. That had been so much fun. The thrill, the rush, the feeling of absolute power over their helpless and unsuspecting victims.

He snorted as heard suggestions of people doing wanting to be shot. An email notified him that the asshole wanting to die wasn't anyone special. Although, he was one of the best shotgun users. Not an achievement really, in his opinion but coupled with the fact that he had gotten his Monster Hunting Teams out of four Player Hunter ambushes. He…was interesting.

He moved his cursor over to a file and several images popped up. One of them was of a young female green/blueish of both hair and eye, pale complexion and dressed in green and white. He smiled thinly, hopefully he wouldn't have to kill her. His hand pressed against the screen. He looked at the clock, he had four hours until his match. He had time.

(Foyer)

Kirito prepped his armour and coat and made sure his recently bought pistol and sword were not on display. This was going to be fun. The pair waited, they had ten minutes until show time.

Kirito found himself in the Ancient Temple. He hit the ground running and took cover behind a pillar. He stopped and listened, he had to cover his face as a sudden breeze rushed in.

Something caught his eye. It was a scope! The bushes rustled and his opponent dressed in American-esque tactical gear popped up. The lines of sight appeared, Kirito jumped backwards, flipping as he did so managed to dodge all but two of the bullets which collided with his lower leg.

He hit landed on the pillar, only to nearly fall off as he pulled his pistol. He found himself behind the pillar again "I'm never going to be able to dodge all of them! I'll never get close at this rate!" He thought and his hand rested on his sword.

He closed his eyes and he began to listen. He heard his breathing slow, he heard the wind in the grass. Then he heard it, his opponent clearing the bushes and Kirito began to run. His opponent grunted, he was amazed. He got to his feet, he ignited his sword and with his pistol in his off hand rushed his foe.

The bullet lines appeared, and Kirito began to demonstrate in the grim, gritty and grimy world of Gun Gale, why he got the name of the "Black Swordsman". The bullets came in a veritable storm but Kirito managed to deflect them.

He grinned as the gun hit empty. He blindly began to fire, but with five metres to go, he stopped and jumped. His opponent had no chance. The blade soared home and hit him square in the chest.

He appeared in the foyer. He looked up to see battles happening still. He didn't hear the heavy breathing coming from behind him. "Are you…the real deal?"

Kirito jumped away, hand going for his sword and his jaw dropped. In black armour, metal face mask and a raggedy cloak "Death Gun." He breathed.

"Real deal? Who are you? What do you mean by that?" He asked.

His target looked at him and walked over, they were face to face "I saw your match. You took him out with a sword?"

"Yeah, so what? Not against the rules is it?"

"I'll ask you again, are you the real deal?"

"Does he know…No question. We have definitely met before! Where? We've done this before! But where did we do this? Stare each other up and down like this?" Kirito thought frantically.

Death Gun pulled up his match and block "With that name and skill set, are you the real deal or what?"

Kirito listened there seemed to be a hint of urgency and slight paranoia. His alias had been and still was well known in the Fantasy Game setting. Memories began to appear of Kibaou, Diabel and others. People alive and people dead.

"That's it! He's an SAO Survivor! Who is he? Where did we meet?" Kirito thought. Kirito was distracted by the bandages, one came loose to reveal part of a brand. A brand of a smiling coffin! Kirito's breath skipped a beat.

(Alfheim)

Harry flicked through the cameras. He found Kirito easily enough. Like Kirito his mouth dried up at the metallic skullface. There was only one Laughing Coffin, by that look. He had a cleaver, rather skilled too. He knew the look but couldn't find the name.

He needed to check his files again. Kazuto Kirigaya, Himself, Akio and Asuna Yuuki were in terrible danger.

Asuna looked over at Harry, who was rapidly closing his coding screens. He didn't look up when people began to teleport in. "What is it koi?" Asked Akio as she rushed over.

"Kirito is in danger, we're in danger. We need to alert the police."

"Dinb!" Someone called and massive spectral chains wrapped around Harry, shoving him back into his seat.

Harry looked to see Neville and Hermione both appear in the house "Akio, please explain what has ruffled Harry so?"

"Someone Kirito is meeting…bad news."

(GGO)

"What do you mean real deal?"

Death Gun snorted "Whether you are a fake using his name or the real deal. One day I will kill you." With that he stalked off.

"That emblem…the Laughing Coffin. The murder guild from SAO. The one that nearly killed Argo and Harry. The one that Harry tried to kill on his own with his own guild "Ring Wraith". The one that myself, Kayaba and Asuna talked him down from.

I should have allowed them to die. Even now no-one knows how many players they killed. Harry suspects or knows, but then again Harry knows all sorts of things. But neither are they the only ones who murdered people; Harry did, I did and Kayaba did.

(Flashback)

Kirito was back in Aincrad. Walking alongside Asuna, Knights of the Blood Oath; Ringwraiths; Fuurinkazan; and the Dragon Alliance.

"This should be where their base is. Remember, when the fighting starts they're red players…You falter, you die. If all goes to plan with us being Clearers with our high levels and skill sets this should be over shortly. Who knows they might just surrender, that'd be lovely."

It didn't end that way. It turned out the people Harry killed were only a small fraction of the guild. More of the Coffin guild appeared and they jumped fearlessly and brazenly into combat.

"Riders! Pair up! Khamul (Hidan), Shadows (Tobi) with me! Marshal (Tenzo) and Undying (Jashin), Betrayer (Konan) and Dwimmerlaik (Hanta), Tainted (Shisui) and Umbar Knight (Kiba). Let's do this." Harry roared.

The battle was thick and fast with Coalition and Laughing Coffin falling. But eventually the Laughing Coffin were destroyed. We had lost ten men for I don't know how many.

(End of Flashback)

"That guy…he must have been one of the twenty or so survivors. We must have exchanged words…Maybe we did, maybe we didn't."

He was brought out of it by Sinon tapping him on the shoulder "Someone looks like they're about to lose it? Tough fight?"

"Not really. I'm okay."

Kirito didn't listen to what she was talking about. Suddenly he was whisked away.

(2nd fight)

Gunfire heralded him immediately from the get go with only one shot grazing him. It was a quick fight and he parted his opponent into.

(3rd fight)

Same thing as the 2nd except he used his pistol to finish his foe with an RPG off.

(4th fight)

Kirito tore across the ground, taking grazes here and there but deflecting the majority of his shots.

(Foyer)

"He got a death wish?" Someone asked. Everyone was transfixed by the guy who brought a sword to a gun fight. They questioned his sanity but were amazed at the skill he possessed.

Meanwhile Spiegel watched, he was on the cusp of trying to workout if Kirito was the real deal. He had seen his brother's exchange and that it had rattled the rare avatar wielder something immensely.

(4th fight)

It was over with a slash to the torso.

(Foyer)

Everyone stared. He was an artist at work. "I can't believe he keeps winning his matches like that. He's in the semi-finals now." Spiegel said.

"Good luck."

(Sinon 5th fight)

"Stinger's my target. His main weapon is an FN SCAR carbine rifle. As a sniper, if I let him get too close, I'm done for her. But on this map, if he wants closing on me, he's gonna have to go through there... And that's where all take him out." She thought as she watched through her scope.

Her mind wandered to the day hanging out with Kirito.

"Agh... Damn him..." She thought.

Suddenly shadow moved on the road. Sinon's instinct took over, coupled with her nerves and she shot it. However, it was not an opponent but a chunk of rubble. She couldn't believe that she had failed.

Her opponent's car drove through fast down the road towards the shooting point that Sinon prepared for it.

"He wanted me waste my first shot to buy him time so he could advance.
...Too bad for him, cause I know the path my first bullet took. My second one will right, on, target...!" She remembered as she aimed and fired again. The only way she knew she had won was when the car crashed and exploded in a building.

"...You should get out of the car, buddy. If you did, you might've seen the bullet line in time to dodge it." She said aloud.

(Intercontinental Highway: Sinon vs Kirito)

"He's gonna try closing on me... using a shadow for cover. My only chance is nail him with the first shot before he figures out of my location. He won't even know when it hit him. ...What's my problem? Why do I wanna beat him so bad? ...ah. It's because he reminds of me?...!" Sinon thought as she took cover in the ruined bus.

Sinon observed Kirito walking ahead of her. To her surprise he was simply walking, no photon sword in his hand. There was not even a chance hide or any place to protect him from her snipe.

"Does he think he can dodge my bullet? at this range!?Ugh...Does he even want to...!?" She thought, at the thought of this her heart rate began to accelerate causing the circle to fluctuate unquietly and erratically.

"Don't... Don't! Don't screw with me!" Sinon screamed as she shot. The shot sailed by her opponent, Kirito, it caught the car behind and it detonated. Sinon watched, after the first shot, Kirito merely stood there, almost as if he was tempting Sinon to shoot him. Sinon cracked, aimed and reloaded several times but each time she missed her shot. She sighed and clambered out of the ruined bus, and ran to where Kirito stood by.

"Fight me. Come on! Fight! You maybe you think I'm not the worth of the effort!" She exclaimed, her composure cracking.

Kirito cocked his head and watched her "You've got it all wrong... All I want is competing in the final. There's no reason to fight anymore." He replied dully.

"Then, go on and shoot yourself to get it over with! Who with that is a waste of ammo. Or may be you wanted me to shoot you because you thought with even the score between us! To you, it's just a game, just one stupid match! That's all it is to you. That is, a game! Well, just because you'll be allow doesn't mean I do!" Retorted Sinon in anger and despair.

"...I'm sorry. What I did was wrong. Sure, it's a game. It's only one match. But, still, that's why we have to give it all we've got. It's why we're here. It's how we live, how we keep surviving. If anyone should've known that, it's me... Sinon, give me a chance to make a right with you. Let me give you the fight I promised." Said Kirito as he watched Shinon break down in front of her.

"I swear if you messed up with me..." She retorted. As she did so Kirito pulled out his handgun and plucked out a round.

"You got any bullet on you, or you are out?" He asked innocently

"Yeah, I got one."

"OK, then, let's have the duel. Here's the rules. We stand ten meters apart. You, with your rifle. And, me, with my sword. I'll toss this bullet up. When it hits the ground, we start. What do you say?" He responded.

"Hang on... If we were ten meters away from each other, it won't give you enough time to see the bullet line in react. And, with my Hecate, I'll definitely hit you. With that range, I can't miss." Sinon couldn't believe this. It would be the easiest victory so far!

Kirito idly replied "You won't know for sure to you try."

Sinon:
"Why's he acting so confident...? Does he have a plan or something...? Whatever it is, I'm ready for it." She thought as she said "Okay. If that how you want it. Let's go."

Kirito moved to stand in his place as Sinon rearmed her ammo, and aimed at Kirito with her rifle. "I knew it. He does have a plan..." She thought

"'Kay, get set!"

Kirito tossed up the bullet. He pulled his photon sword into his right hand and he switched on the sword. He lowered his body, to ready in action. The bullet slowly dropped to the ground. It hit the ground, and Sinon fired her Hacate. Kirito swung his sword and the sword cut effortlessly through the projectile that shot from her rifle into two pieces.

"No way! That's impossible!" Sinon thought as she lost her balance. She flailed to pick up her handgun to cover her. This gave Kirito enough time getting close to her. He thrusts his sword before Sinon's neck and He holds her body so she won't fall down.

"You knew where I was aiming... But, how? How do you know I was going for your leg?"

"I knew because I could see your eye, through the lens of your scope."

"That's how he predicted my bullet's path...!? That's amazing... That kind of power is way beyond in any be our game!" She thought in astonishment "If you're so strong you can do that, why you look so afraid before?" She asked curiously.

"You're wrong. It's not strength. All it is a skill."

"No! It's not! Technique isn't enough cut bullet from my Hecate in half. You and I both know that. It takes strength. And all I want to know is how to get it...! It's what I... It's what I'm here to figure it out..."

"Listen... Could you shoot a player in here, if you knew in the real world, that player would die from it? And, what if you had to kill that player, 'cause if you didn't, your someone in love will die instead. If you had that power, could you still pull that trigger?" Questioned Kirito.

"...Does he know? About what happen to me that day? Maybe... something like that happened him too." She thought amazed.

"I can't go through that again. ...So, I'm not as strong as you think I am. I don't know the name of the two, no, three people that I killed in another game. I have to live with it, every single day. And, every day I keep hoping I'll forget."

Sinon tried to raise her left hand to Kirito's right cheek, to console him. Kirito softly declined her act.

"I'm fine. Anyway, I guess I won the duel, doesn't it?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I guess..."

"Well, would you mind surrendering then? I'm not big fan of assassinating girls."

It was then Sinon noticed, this whole time, Kirito embraced her with his left hand in her waist. Out of embarrassment, Sinon push Kirito aside.

"Next time, I'm not gonna lose! See you in the finals! And, make sure you are still alive until you see me again! Hmph. Resign!" She said determined.
