Meanwhile in the Kitchen, Jill was busy making drinks while Gordon was telling her what had happened in the car
"So, why would she think she is a burden, we haven't said anything to make her think that have we" said Jill
"No, we haven't but I wonder if someone else may have implied it" replied Gordon
"None of the family would, we have brought them up to be better than that" replied Jill
"No, I don't think it would have been any of them, but I was wondering if it was" started Gordon, he stopped as he could hear Bunty and Ash coming towards them, but he didn't have to say who for Jill to understand
"Right, let's all go outside and have a drink" said Jill, she looked at Ash and all she wanted to do was put the tray down and take Ash into her arms and make everything better, but she knew Ash would not allow her, right now Ash was as angry and upset with them as she was with Sister
"I'll be out in a minute, I've just got to sort something out really quick" said Gordon
"Okay" replied Jill knowing he was doing this because he was still thinking about what they were just talking about
"Well, let's make the most of the time it's just us girls then" said Bunty, trying to lighten the mood
"Would you mind if I just went upstairs" asked Ash, she looked at Jill and knew that she would without her having to answer
Ash went outside followed by Bunty and Jill, Ash was feeling guilty she didn't seem to be able to say or do the right thing
Jill and Bunty where both keeping an eye on her but didn't want her to notice
"So, what do you have planned this weekend" asked Bunty to Jill, starting a conversation they were going to let Ash join when she was ready
"We've both got to work this weekend, we're being over stretched as we're a doctor down" replied Jill
"Ohh, okay" replied Bunty
"Why" Asked Jill
"Well, it doesn't matter, we can do it another time" replied Bunty
"What doesn't matter, mum" asked Jill
"Well, your dad and I were hoping we could take you and Gordon out for dinner to say thank you for all you have done" replied Bunty
"You don't need to do that, dad might not be up to it anyway" replied Jill
"Maybe, we could cook you all dinner here instead" replied Bunty
Jill didn't have time to respond
"Well, it makes perfect sense, you will be tired after work and it will save you time" added Bunty
"Well" started Jill
"That's settled then" replied Bunty
Great, thought Jill all they wanted was a little alone time and this is what she gets, what will Gordon think
The phone rang, Gordon got up and answered it
"Ormerod residence" said Gordon
"Hi, dad it's us" replied Tom
"Hello, is everything alright" asked Gordon
"Yeah, we just called to say we won't be home for dinner" replied Tom
"Okay, well thank you and don't be late tonight" replied Gordon
"We won't" replied Tom
Gordon put the phone down and then went through to the kitchen, he looked out and could see Jill and Bunty were having a conversation, but Ash wasn't talking to them, it looked like Jill was having as much luck as he was, he checked on dinner and then went out
"That was the kids on the phone" said Gordon as he sat down
"Are they alright" asked Jill
"Yeah, they won't be home for dinner, but they promised they won't be late" replied Gordon
"I hope not, I'm not going to do all their packing for them tomorrow, we've got enough to deal with" replied Jill
"You won't have to I will make sure of it, so what were you talking about" asked Gordon
"Not much, Mum was just saying they want to cook dinner for us all one night" replied Jill
"You don't have to do that" replied Gordon
"I know but Harold and I want to, to say thank you" replied Bunty
"Well, let's wait and see how he feels" replied Gordon
"That's exactly what Jill said, what aren't you telling me" replied Bunty
"Nothing, honestly, it's just when it's all of us it can get a bit much" replied Gordon
"So, miss what do you have planned for tomorrow" asked Gordon to Ash, trying to change the subject
"Nothing" replied Ash, she still wasn't in the mood to talk to them
Gordon and Jill looked at each other, Jill was thinking of how she could snap Ash out of this mood, but Gordon asked her a question first
"I thought you told mum you had plans this weekend, the other day" said Gordon
"No" replied Ash
"I don't remember that either" replied Jill, Gordon looked at Jill to say he knew she didn't but that he was trying to get her talking to them, but it wasn't working so he mouthed help to Jill
"What are your friends up to this weekend" asked Jill
Ash shrugged her shoulders
"Why don't you phone them and find out" asked Bunty
"There's no point, I'm grounded until I can make them happy that I have told them everything and learnt my lesson" replied Ash, quoting Gordon from earlier
Jill looked at Gordon this was not going as they had hoped it would, maybe her mum was right, and they were pushing her further away
"We, didn't mean it we just said it in the heat of the moment we are worried about you, isn't that right Gordon" said Jill, looking to Gordon for support
"Yes, I never meant those things" replied Gordon
"I don't believe you" replied Ash
"That is no way to talk to your mother, go up stairs now" replied Gordon, getting angry
Ash stood up to go inside
"Gordon, she didn't mean it like that" said Jill, thinking that at least they were getting a few words out of her and she was telling them how she was feeling, even if they didn't like it
Ash didn't wait for anything else to be said she made her way upstairs, which is where she wanted to be right now anyway she had spent enough time with her parents today, all she wanted was a little bit of time alone to come to terms with what had happened earlier
Jill waited until Ash was out of sight before she spoke
"Well, done Gordon" said Jill
"What" replied Gordon
"She was just starting to talk to us and you push her away" said Jill
"I will not have her being rude to you" replied Gordon
"I don't think she was, she is just telling us how she felt, and how many times have we said exactly that to her recently" replied Jill, getting up
"I'm just going to check on dinner" said Jill, realising how the time had flown by, Jill went inside
"Don't worry, they've always been close, they will get back to how they were" said Bunty
"I'm not so sure" replied Gordon
"They, will they just need time" replied Bunty
"Dinners ready" shouted Jill
Gordon and Bunty made their way in,
"Help yourselves" said Jill, plating up for her and Ash
Ash made her way downstairs just as Jill, was leaving the kitchen
"Just, in time this is yours" said Jill, handing Ash one of the plates
"Thanks" replied Ash going through to the dining room
Jill followed her, they sat down to dinner and made small talk, Ash was still very quiet
When they had finished Jill got Gordon to help her clear the table
"Ash, what's going on" asked Bunty
"I just need time" replied Ash
"Time for what" asked Bunty, Jill and Gordon were stood in the door way
"It doesn't matter" replied Ash, she didn't say anymore she could sense them behind her and whispering
"Right Ash help Mum do the drying up" said Gordon
Ash got up and made her way to the kitchen
"Ash are you alright" asked Jill, handing Ash the tea towel
"I'm, fine" replied Ash, how could she tell them how she really felt, they had so much on already
"Well, when you are ready to tell me, I am here" replied Jill
"There is nothing to say" lied Ash,
How could she tell them she hates herself, for causing all this trouble and for causing all this hurt, worry and upset
