Hellos! Hope you enjoy this chapter!
So. Why did Genma go back to Arendelle? Two reasons. First, he's in the past with little connections. He doesn't know anyone except for Happosai and we all know he won't be seeking for him. After ending up in Arendelle, he knows Ranma made relations with the people there. From what Genma knows, Ranma made great friends with Anna and Elsa. With little to no options, his best choice for 'glory' is to wed Ranma to them. The second reason is that, this is fanfiction. So, just cuz.
Ruby is an OC. This is something I really should have mentioned much earlier.
Chapter 10
"I said," Alfred growled savagely. "GET. HIM!" The normally stoic butler was vivid with fury. He will never. Ever. Forget the actions of the little monster. His chest heaved as he took long, stuttering breaths. Around him, he could see their valued guests backing away, their eyes wide and frantic. His forehead pulsed and throbbed. Of course. Of course, the cursed demon boy would come back. Of course, the boy would come back on the crowning of the new queen. His face reddened. Facing to the group of confused guards he bellowed, throwing his right arm down in a fit, "Guards! What are you waiting for? Now!"
The guards approached the Eastern duo. Genma had his arms crossed, staring impassively at the men around him. Turning his hand to his son, he said "All right boy, tie the knot. Keep up the training. I'll be around."
"Wait.. wha?" Ranma mumbled from his position on the ground. The grogginess he felt waking up was disappearing and his eyes narrowed. He took in the approaching soldiers, the stunned crowds of elegantly dressed people, the seething Alfred, and Anna and Elsa. Man... They really grew.
As he shot up to his feet, he heard stunned gasps from the crowds. Whipping his head back and forth quickly he figured out why. His pop was gone. Ranma scowled. Goddangit... leaving me to deal your problems again… stupid old man. Hmm. What the heck does tie the knot mean?
"Sorcery!" He heard from a diminutive, grey-haired man with round yellow glasses.
As if. Ranma thought. He took a loose stance. He had planned to meet his childhood friends in a more pleasant way. He definitely did not want to meet up like this. At the very least, he knew they recognized him. That thought brought a pleasant smile to his face. The smile quickly vanished when a commanding voice called out.
"This is how we're going to do this, boy." The apparent captain of the soldiers started. "You are outnumbered, outmatched, and surrounded. You will be going with us, peacefully. Any resistance will be met with the necessary force." Two soldiers parted in order to let the older man approach. "Let's go."
"I ain't going anywhere. I didn't do anything wrong." Ranma said defiantly, his hands closed into fists. "So you won't be taking me without a fight." In the back of his head he wondered, where is the old captain?
The captain shrugged. "Your... father... disappeared into thin air, and you are his accomplice. You also have come uninvited and created a disturbance. Do not make the situation worse in front of the newly crowned Queen."
"Stop fooling and get the bastard criminal, you lot!" Another frenzied cry came from Alfred, creating a stir among the crowd. The guard behind Ranma complied, charging in with his spear.
Ranma was not taken for surprise as he quickly shifted his body, letting the spear past cleanly by his side, the head millimeters from grazing his suit. The guard, having expected to hit his target, fell forward, unbalanced, as the the momentum carried him forward. Ranma then kicked the spear up, lifting the guard even closer to him then backhanded the guard to the side. The room was silent to hear the slumping of the guard. In that time, Ranma blinked and wondered where the heck did he get his suit from. Without further thought to the question, the fight commenced with a sharp "Go!" from the captain.
Elsa stared dumbfounded as combat initiated in the ballroom, her dear childhood friend against her many Kingdom guards.
"Stop..." She mumbled dejectedly, too soft to hear. The perfect day, her perfect day was quickly spiraling out of control. It was all going so well. She proceeded to walk towards the brawl only to be grabbed by the hand.
"Princ- Ahem, Queen Elsa," Alfred said, looking much calmer than earlier, "I understand how this vagrant may have be a… close… companion of yours. However, as Queen, You must set an example to the wrongdoers of the Arendelle."
"Alfred, please." Elsa plead, "I realize you have a tense relationship with Ranma, but he is no wrongdoer. And surely you remember the sweet boy he was, he means no harm."
"People change, the sweet boy," Alfred paused, as if trying to rid his mouth of the word 'sweet,' "that sweet boy has obviously changed. Like father, like son, that boy is unfit in civilization."
At this point, Elsa increasingly became frustrated with trying to reason diplomatically. She yanked her hand away from Alfred. "This is not civilized." She gestured to the combat. "I am ending this now. I am Queen, my decision is final."
"Your father would have understood." Alfred stated simply, eyes hard and cold.
Elsa recoiled in shock, eyes widening at the man in front of her. She then quickly turned away with the goal of ending the fight, leaving the butler to stand alone with a single blue glove hanging limply off of his hand.
Elsa blinked as she looked at the courtroom. To her surprise, Ranma looked unscathed. There were several guards lying unconscious around his feet, shafts of spears broken on the floor, and the guests were behind the columns near the wall. There were two guards left in addition to the distraught captain of the group. Elsa saw movement in the far right of her vision and she turned her head to the right. It was the prince from earlier, Hans, dashing swiftly towards Ranma's back while unsheathing the sword from his waist. His intent was clear.
"No!" Elsa quickly moved towards the Eastern boy. Everything was going so well… why…? Her mind was clouded with panic and dread for his friend as she held out her hand to stop the incoming man. And it certainly stopped him. Tendrils of frost escaped her bare hand, touching the floor and creating large spikes of ice to eject from the ground, effectively creating a barrier between Ranma and Hans. Hans, fortunately, was able to stop himself before getting impaled.
Everything stood still for a second as Elsa stared at her bare hand in betrayal.
"S-sorcery!" She heard. The word slithered around her head, hissing and jerking at her face, taunting her. She clutched her head. Witch! She felt the room bear into her. Monster! The dozens of eyes tore at her soul bit by bit. Demon! She ran.
Leaping over miscellaneous objects, brushing past stunned guests, and tears streaming down her cheek, the Queen made away to the exit and swiftly made her exit with a sharp slam of the door.
Well. Crap. Ranma wanted to grip his head in despair, in no way did he want to meet Anna and Elsa like this.
"You!" Ranma turned around to see Alfred stiffly walking towards him, his red face etched furiously with wrinkles. "You… you caused this." Alfred said pressing his bony finger to Ranma's chest.
"Me?" Ranma said indignantly. "You're the one who told them to attack me!"
"I merely requested them to take you in peacefully. Are you not the one who could have peacefully went with them?" Alfred sneered.
"I didn't do anything wrong." Ranma defended and took a semi aggressive stance.
"You ruined the coronation!" Alfred growled.
"That's enough." Another voice interjected. Anna approached the two, her face warped in a turmoil of confusion, happiness and melancholy.
Alfred, irate and rattled, glared threateningly at Ranma, preparing to let loose another tirade. He then huffed indignantly and walked out. "I will find the Queen." He declared before he slammed the door.
Ranma looked around him. It seemed that most of the guests had cleared the castle, either out of fear or curiosity. He looked at the unconscious bodies around his feet and the wall of ice in front of him and sighed mentally. Obviously, Elsa had never revealed her powers since he 'left'. Ranma then fixed his gaze on Anna and felt his heart clenching. Those were the biggest puppy dog eyes I've ever seen.
"Ranma…" Anna said slowly. "Is it really you?"
Ranma looked down at his feet and then back into Anna's blue eyes. "Heh heh, what's up Anna?"
There was flash of something in Anna's eyes. "I… I…"
"Back away hoodlum." A male voice said.
"Hans?" Anna said in surprise as Hans inserted himself in between the two, pushing Anna behind him with his left hand and repelling Ranma with the sword in his right hand.
Ranma only raised an eyebrow indifferently to the .
"Hans," Anna stated, "It's fine. He's, uh, safe." With that, Hans reluctantly sheathed his sword but still stayed in front of Anna protectively, his green eyes fierce.
"So!" Anna said cheerily, attempting to defrost the tension from the two men near her, "I guess we should join Alfred in finding Elsa."
"If you say so, my love." Hans agreed, straightening up. Ranma's eyebrow inched even higher and Anna slightly flinched.
"Let's go then. Come on Ranma."
The three quickly made their way outside the castle with Anna in the front, Hans in the middle and Ranma in the back.
"Woah." Anna put her hand over her mouth in shock as observed outside. The fountain in the courtyard was frozen completely, the water once inside transformed into a frightening, spiky appearance. She saw her breath misting in the air. She looked up, "Is it… snowing?" Behind her, she heard a sharp curse from Ranma and she turned and looked to him curiously. His only response was a shaky smile.
"The Queen has cursed this land! She must be stopped. You hear me? She must be stopped!" Near the grotesque fountain, the Duke of Weselton was hiding behind his two guards and frantically babbled about witches and curses to the citizens. His eyes then fell on Anna and narrowed. "You! Is there sorcery in you too? Are you a monster too?"
"No, no" Anna answered shakily, "I'm completely ordinary. I didn't even know that Elsa…" She shook her head. "My sister is not a monster. She was only trying to help."
"She nearly killed me!"
Anna's eyes widened. "W-what?"
"He slipped on ice." One of his guards tiredly said to which the Duke glared in annoyance.
"I did not! She blasted her witch magic at me and ran away like the the monster she is. She must be stopped." He wailed.
"Stop calling her a monster. I will find her myself. Bring me my horse." Anna declared and started to walk off. As she walked, she called out, "Ranma, come with me." The mentioned boy was still at the door, looking up at the sky dejectedly. When he heard Anna he nodded, took off his suit, revealing a red shirt, and placed the suit over his head as protection from the snow.
Anna was stopped by Hans, "Anna, no. It's too dangerous." His hands gripped Anna's dainty, freckled shoulder.
She smiled delicately, "No it's not, it's only my sister."
"Let me come with you."
"No, I need you here."
"But you allow him to go with you?" Hans jerked a shoulder roughly towards Ranma who was walking besides the servant bringing a white horse.
"We have a history with him. Believe me he won't be doing anything, I'll be fine. Besides, I know I can trust you to take care of Arendelle." Anna smiled encouragingly.
Hans accepted it grudgingly. "By my honor." He said.
Anna put on a blue cloak and mounted the horse. She was followed by Ranma who had his suit above his head.
"Let's go." Anna said. With the flick of her wrists she compelled the horse to move, and the two left.
The two teens made their way through the Kingdom, directed by citizens who saw the Queen flee. As they traveled, it came apparent that the snow was affecting the entire Kingdom. Snow started to pile on buildings snow, a few wells were frozen, and when they reached the Kingdom shores, the ocean was completely frozen over. Soon the two made it to the mountains, where the citizens had last saw Elsa.
Trudging through the snow, Anna spoke to Ranma for the first time during the trip. "So… Ranma." She said slowly. "How have you been for the past -let's see- ten years?"
"Um. Well, you know…" Ranma replied unsurely.
It was then, Anna had enough. So much happened.
"No. I don't know." Anna said darkly. "You disappeared out of the blue and then all of the suddenly you appear, beat up our guards, ruin the one day I could talk to Elsa normally." She took a deep breath. "You know what? After you left, Elsa shut me out again. I still don't get why." Anna became frantic, her hands gripped the reins of her horse tightly. "I mean sure she has ice powers, but that doesn't mean she couldn't tell me. Was she so scared that I would think she's a monster too? I'm her sister for heaven's sake. I would never think badly of her. But no… she couldn't just grow up and tell me? Oh hey Anna!" Anna mockingly mimicked Elsa, "I have had ice powers, just letting you know why I shut you out for TEN years." She went back to her normal voice. "Maybe we could have figured something out. You know? Talk like the reasonable, mature adults we are. And maybe, when mom and dad died, not everything would be so, so, arghhh!"
After that rant, the only sound was the shuffling of snow as their horse made its way through the forest.
"Elsa was just trying to protect you." Ranma said quietly. Internally, Ranma was disappointed with Elsa. After getting her out of her room, she went back and locked herself up again. He wondered what caused such a fear her.
"From what? It's not like I would tell if she didn't want me to."
"From herself."
"What?" Before Ranma could explain, Anna started to speak again. "Wait. How would you know this?" There was a second of pause. "She told you she had powers!? Not me? Sister of the year..."
"Well," Ranma said nervously, "She told me by accident."
Anna let out a deep sigh. And in a much calmer voice, she asked, "What do you mean? Elsa was trying to protect me from herself? That doesn't make sense."
Ranma told the story as best he could remember it many years ago.
After the story, Anna touched her hair idly, her hand twirling the strands of white, as she thought about what Ranma said.
"I didn't want to leave…" Ranma suddenly said. "But pops kinda just took me away."
Anna turned around. "I thought he was dead. Executed."
"He got away." Ranma mumbled. "And took me so I could be the best mart- you know. He said staying with you guys made me soft."
"Really? Well that's not nice. Then why did you guys come back all of the sudden?"
"Dunno. Something about tying a knot? Not sure what that means."
"Oh." Anna continued to stare at the boy behind her blankly.
Ranma, not comfortable with Anna's doe like eyes imploring into his own, asked, "Who's that guy? In the white?"
"Oh! That's Hans, he's wonderful. I met him today and we got engaged! I was just about to ask Elsa to bless our wedding, but then..."
"Sorry." Ranma mumbled, his hand fiddling with his pigtail in embarrassment. He then paused. "Hang on, are you telling me that you got engaged to someone you just met?"
"Yea, what's wrong with that?" Anna asked seriously.
"You barely even know the guy! What's it called here? Stranger danger?"
"He's a Prince of the Seven Isles, I know that."
"You can't just get engaged to a person you just met that day." Ranma scoffed. "You wouldn't see me get engaged in day."
The irony was completely lost on him.
"Well," She then stopped and curiously asked, "I've been wondering, why are you holding that suit over your head."
Despite the cold, Ranma could feel sweat forming on the back of his head. He really didn't want to reveal his curse to add more shock to the already stressed girl. But realizing it would be a similar situation with Anna and Elsa, he reluctantly spoke. "Me and pops went to China trying to…" Ranma trailed off, then suddenly spoke again, "There were cursed springs, when you fall into them you change into something else. So… When I..." Ranma trailed off again, extremely reluctant to tell. Suddenly his eyes widened. "Hey! Watch out!" He yelled.
Anna, the person leading the horse, was turned around in order to look and Ranma as he spoke. Being turned that way, there was no way she could have seen the tree branch jutting out. While the horse passed safely under it, Anna did not. The branch hit the back of her head, causing no harm but, surprising her to suddenly jerk the reins up, scaring the horse who quickly went on two legs, causing the two riders to fall into the snow below.
With the cold to his back, Ranma blinked rapidly, wiping away the shock. Looking down at himself, he sighed deeply. He had breasts. He sat up to look for his companion. "Anna, where'd you go?"
"Gah!" Anna cried as she rolled down the hill. Eventually she stopped rolling. Cold… Anna frowned as she laid in the snow. Of course it's cold. It's snow… What in the world was I thinking wearing this dress out here. Anna shivered as she pushed herself up. "Ranma?" She looked around only to see snow covered trees and an unfrozen stream she almost fell into.
"Ribbit."
Anna's eye tracked the sound to find a shivering green frog sitting on a rock besides the stream.
"Ribbit."
"Ranma?"
"Ribbit."
Revelation occurred in Anna's head. "Didn't Ranma say he got cursed?" Anna said to herself. "He said the curse changes him to be something else…" Anna stared at the frog.
And the frog stared back. "Ribbit."
"H-hey! I know this story!" Anna exclaimed excitedly. "Don't worry Ranma! I'll change you back."
Anna quickly snatched the frog and held it carefully in her hands. She brought the frog up to eye level to look into its eyes.
"Nope… can't do it, too icky. Sorry Ranma." Anna mumbled. She stared longer and then shivered. "Well at least, not now. It's getting dark, we should find somewhere warmer. Let's go Ranma!"
"Ribbit."
Anna and the frog made the their away across the mountain as the sun was setting, shivering and trembling along the way. At one point, Anna saw smoke in the sky and made her way there.
"Wandering Oaken's Trading Post… Ooh! And sauna." Anna said as she read the sign of the wooden building. "Finally, maybe we can get warm clothes."
"Ribbit."
"Yeah, whatever you say, Ranma."
Well. I'm actually glad that happened, I can move so much quicker without Anna. A female Ranma was currently standing at the bottom of a stairway of ice, looking up to a gigantic palace, also made out of ice. Found Elsa!
AN: Yay! I made a chapter! Hmm... A little messy on the shifting perspectives. I feel like this chapter is too short, I could add a whole bunch more descriptions but they're really unnecessary and just makes my story look longer but isn't really longer. Thoughts?
Hey! Curious question: How many of my readers are female? I'm just curious, I kinda just assume all my readers to be male... Which isn't quite right. .
