Chapter 26: Cultural differences

(In the Grad-Jewel Hotel)

Hiroki: Mom! … Your back?

Anna: I came back a while ago

Hiroki: oh … so, where's dad?!

Anna: You're going to talk to him now?

Hiroki: No! … I'm just wondering if he went to pick up Grandma … Not that I really care

Anna: No, he went to check something important … Grandma will come back later tonight

Hiroki: I don't get it … why isn't she going to jail?!

Anna: Well, as much as I think that she got off lightly, it seems like Mogami-san doesn't want to press charges … knowing your grandma is an American, she will be treated as a foreigner, and if she's jailed it will be difficult to help her …

Confused, Hiroki asked: So what?! … she can live in jail for all I care!

Concerned, Anna asked: Do you hate her too?!

Hiroki: well … she's doing terrible things like watching them … I just think she should be punished for that … at least!

Anna: hmm … well, Mogami-san prefers to stay out of it, she fears that if she presses charges, then we might end up moving here to stay with grandma … and honestly, I can't imagine your father or grandpa living in the US if she's jailed here!

Hiroki: Then, why aren't you just divorcing him?!

Stunned, Anna looks at her son confused by his question, she looked down for a moment, then looked back at him and asked: you want me to separate from your father?! … Hiroki, don't you understand how difficult that is?!

Hiroki: Why not … he's a bad guy! … you don't need to stay with him!

Anna: Hiroki … can you really say that?! … I would never consider divorce! as I can't imagine living without seeing you and your brothers half the time!

Hiroki: you don't have to worry about that … I will stay with you full time! … so, you don't have to stay with a guy like him!

Anna: No Hiroki … as much as I get why you're upset, as I'm just as upset by his actions, if not more … however, I still love him, because I fell in love with the good part of him! … he's not that terrible, … besides, I would rather do anything to fix the issue then run away, … and frankly, I want us to live like a complete family regardless to his wrong actions!

Hiroki: You will forgive him?!

Anna: He is a good husband to me, and a good father to you! … don't let one horrible mistake ruin all that! … I know what he did is huge, but he was misinformed by your grandma too, so he didn't realize the full truth until just recently!

Hiroki: I don't get it … he hurt that woman, and she had his child … aren't you appalled by that?! … you're not the only women he had kids with!

Anna: I know, … but I don't think having an ex-girlfriend is a deal-breaker … even if he had kids with them … in this case, he didn't even know about Kyoko, so … I don't look at it as I was deceived or anything … I know his behavior back then was wrong, but he has apologized and is regretful … as his wife, I should be understanding and judge him regarding what I know now!

Confused, Hiroki asks: really?! … are you really ok with him having an ex who also had a daughter! … you suffered so much, yet he had one with someone else!

Anna: look! Perhaps it's fate? … Kyoko was meant to be born, even if no one intended for it to happen … I can't complain about that … moreover, I like Kyoko, as an actress! So, I don't really mind, and I would wish her all the happiness! … I might struggle with having a daughter, but I'm grateful I have three amazing boys, and I wouldn't change a thing about it!

Hiroki: you're really compassionate, mom … but I don't know if I can be like you! … I can't possibly forgive dad for what he did!

Anna: Hiroki! … I would like to ask you to at least consider it! … think about how great of a father he is to you and your brothers! … he never missed a birthday, and he always listened and made sure you're well taken care of! … have you ever felt that your father was ever a bad one?

Hiroki: YES! … he is now! … not only does he have a child with someone else, but he never cared for her! … she sounded so hurt by that!

Anna: I'm talking about him being your father, and not Kyoko … she's a different matter because he didn't know about her, and … the whole situation is different in her case … I want to know if your dad did you wrong!

Hiroki: he stopped being my Hero … that's all, I guess … I'm disappointed that he's done something so terrible like that!

Anna: I get it … I'm also disappointed, but … that won't change all the good things he's done for me and us as a family, right?!

Hesitant Hiroki nodded and said: I guess ….

Anna: Look, you can take your time finding a way to forgive him because I wouldn't like seeing my beloved son not be on good terms with his father … perhaps you two can sit down and talk?!

Hiroki: not now … I'm not ready to forgive him, just yet!

Anna: alright … but please at least promise me that you won't ignore him completely

Hiroki: fine … I won't … but I still won't hang out with him, at least not yet!

Anna: that's okay … I love you Hiroki!

Hiroki: love you too, mom!

After nearly 30 minutes of hanging out in the room playing videos games on the TV, a tired Hiroki sat down and open his phone to find an e-mail sent his way … he shouted: Oh my God!

Anna: what's the matter?!

Hiroki got up and walked to where his mother was seated and showed her his phone screen

Anna looked at him and smiled, nodding and saying: that great!

Unsure, Hiroki asked: is it?!

Anna: yeah!

Hiroki looked at his phone and smile

Anna whispered something in her son's ears and smiled cheerfully … he nodded and told her he would go to his room … she give him a thumbs up and wink, making him giggle on his way out

Hayato and Hokuto noticed their older brother leaving, so they tried to follow him, however, Anna stopped them by suggesting she can join them in their game, which they happily agreed to, making them forget their brother ever left

(In a Karaoke Room)

Momose: Sorry for arriving late, we just finishing shooting the final scene for today! … I came as soon as I could

Yashiro: That's ok, I just arrived … I just finished driving them to their jobs and I have some time!

Chiori: here, we got you two some drinks … it sure is hot outside!

Kanae: So, what's the big news

Momose: You two heard that Kyoko-chan got a kitten yesterday, right?

Chiori: Yeah, she sent me a photo, it's adorable!

Kanae: I got one too, although I find it odd since her mother doesn't seem like a pet person either … anyway … what about the kitten?

Momose: we're you aware then Tsuraga-san met her already?!

Yashiro: Momose-san told me at the studio! … I was shocked because she hasn't mentioned that to me at all!

Shocked, Kanae: wait, when?!

Momose: I presume he met Remi-chan yesterday … that's the only logical explanation!

Yashiro: He finished early yesterday … so he went home, and so did I … I reviewed some work and all, but I don't know what he was up to … but now we know he was at her place!

Chiori: So Tsuraga-san went to visit Mogami-san's apartment just to meet the cat?!

Annoyed, Kanae: That guy actually did that!

Momose: I don't know the details … but when I tried to ask, she seemed slightly nervous when it came to him … she tried to avoid talking about him actually … and if I didn't see the picture of Tsuraga-san and Remi, we wouldn't have known about this

Yashiro: This is a huge step don't you think … For Mogami-san to allow a man like Ren into her place … means she's ok with him being close to Kyoko-chan, right?!

Chiori: Did you notice any changes between them?!

Yashiro: well, as I said earlier that the walls between them have crumbled … especially when it's just us three in the car, she seems a lot more comfortable around him … plus, he calls her Kyoko from time to time … she also shares information with him much more than she shares with anyone else!

Kanae: Right! … she told me that she told him about that issue before she told me about it!

Momose: what issue? … is it about that picture Yashiro-san shared?

Yashiro: well, … that too … she told him how she feels about things like … she was feeling like she was being watched … she told him before telling her mother … and then, they actually found spy cameras at her mom's place!

Shocked, Chiori asked: spy cameras?!

Kanae: what the hell?! … isn't that illegal?!

Yashiro: She told me the police will handle the matter … so I didn't ask any further … but I do know that the old lady in the picture is the one who asked for their installation!

Chiori: wow … she's insane! … are you sure Kyoko is actually related to them?!

Kanae: please, don't ever say that! … let's just pretend they aren't, for Kyoko's sake at least!

Momose: Although I don't what's really going, I won't ask, since it's not a topic Kyoko-chan wants to share … come to think of it … didn't Tsuraga-san call her earlier this week when she was very down about something!

Yashiro: Yup, I knew that she met him the day before, so I was worried that they fought, I asked him and he told me that he would call her … then he called me back and told me what happened!

Chiori: Those two! … are they really not dating? … he literally visited her mother, her only parents, and met her cat … at this point, I should assume they are lying about not being in a relationship

Kanae bit her lip, annoyed at the fact Ren is always one step ahead, so she said: I will talk to her later today!

Yashiro: actually, she has plans for tonight!

Chiori: With Tsuraga-san?!

Yashiro: well, he's involved, but he's only there as support! … I guess!

Kanae: For support?! … why is it always him?!

The four talked a little more before going their separate ways

(In Yashiro's Car)

Yashiro picked up Kyoko, then headed out to pick Ren up

Kyoko received a text from Todoh, which made her feel relieved

Curious, Yashiro: something up?

Kyoko: Todoh-san just let me know that we don't have to worry about anything

Yashiro: ah! … is that about the man who has been following you since you got on set today?

Kyoko: yeah, … I gave him a description of the man, and he checked with Satoshi-san … it seems like the guy works for him!

Yashiro: but why is he watching you?!

Kyoko: well, maybe they're making sure that family doesn't come near me or something, I'm not really sure!

Yashiro: hmm, that's ok as long as you're safe, … I did report it to Takarada-san, so he might also contact your mother and lawyer!

Kyoko: You mean Todoh-san?

Yashiro: yeah … I'm not too familiar with him, so perhaps I shouldn't use his name so freely

Confused, Kyoko: Todoh-san is his last name, you know, that right?!

Yashiro: oh … I must have been confused, you always called him Todoh-san, so I assumed it was his first name!

Kyoko: His given name is Susumu actually … I only learned about that recently

Yashiro: oh! … I have never met anyone with that name before, anyways … Ren's here!

Ren approached the car and opened the back door, … he slid in and sat next to Kyoko and smiled while greeting both of them

Kyoko smiled happily and greeted him back

Yashiro: good work, Ren! … I hope everything went smoothly!

Ren: As always … how about you, Mogami-san, how did filming go?

Kyoko: It went well, … although there was someone on Set watching me the whole time, but … you don't have to worry, Satoshi-san put him there!

Yashiro thought (she told him right away, as I was expecting … but wait … who is this Satoshi-san?)

Ren: Satoshi-san hired a bodyguard?

Kyoko: Not really, Todoh-san just told me that this man works for Satoshi-san, so I assume it's just to make sure they don't do something different

Ren: Well, since he heard the story from his brother, it makes sense he would want to help and protect you!

Confused, Yashiro asked: his brother?!

Kyoko: Satoshi-san is Todoh-san's older brother! … He works as a police chief in Kyoko, he came here to help Todoh-san with somethings

Yashiro: Wow! … but … why Do you call his older brother by his given name, and refer to your lawyer with his family name, shouldn't it be the other way around?! … I mean you know Todoh-san personally at this point?!

Kyoko: well, My mom calls him Todoh-san … so I just did the same thing … I don't really know if Todoh-san wants me to use his first name … since he did tell me he didn't like it a long time ago

Ren: Well, Satoshi-san kept teasing him using that awful nickname … so it would make sense why he wouldn't use his first name!

Yashiro narrowed his eyes and asked: oh really?! … so, you know Todoh-san and his older brother?! … have you met them both?!

Casual, Ren answer: yes … why?!

Kyoko thought to herself (perhaps Momose-san saw a picture and asked Yashiro-san … in this case, I should just come clean … I don't have to hide it, do I?!) … she bit her lip, then said: yeah, He came by yesterday, I told him about Remi-chan and he said he would like to meet her … so I Invited him over … Todoh-san and Satoshi-san were going to be there too, anyway!

Ren: Wait, then … those two were acting awkwardly because they didn't want anyone to suspect anything?!

Confused, Kyoko: you mean Mom and Todoh-san?

Ren: They seemed a bit nervous, to say the least

Kyoko: well, … they didn't want those people to know we're trying to find the cameras … you saw how upset she got when we actually found them!

concerned, Yashiro asked: did she say that?! … was she mad?!

Ren: she mainly locked herself in her bedroom …then Todoh-san took over and made sure she's calms before he asked her to join us for Dinner … he seems to know how she acts, so he handled the situation well, not that there was anything worth mentioning

Kyoko nodded … I guess she wasn't sure how to react … because we both hoped we were wrong about this feeling, but … we did really find cameras … and we found out who was behind installing them

Yashiro: come to think of it … you never told me how you found that they were the one behind them!

Ren: Mogami-san received an email from that boy … warning her about being watched

Kyoko: My mom also got a note that said something similar … I think that man's wife was so upset, so she cautioned my mom about it!

Yashiro: oh, that's why … I thought it was for a different matter?!

Ren: we'll both really!

Kyoko nodded her head in agreement

Yashiro: alright, just tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do my best!

(Detective Okabe Giichi's office)

Okabe: So, do you have anything to report?!

Police Officer 1: I looked them both up, nothing worthy came up … they are both just working, just that!

Okabe: Seriously?! … look deeper! … what about you?

Police Officer 2: Well, … I followed them around, and nothing came of it … they went to work, had lunch, worked again, picked up the other charge, and went on their way for dinner … I think the man had met some of his friends at the Karaoke while the other worked … that's all

Okabe: Karaoke?! … you idiot! … people exchange secrets there! … who we're his friend?!

Police Officer 2: 3 females … they were all actresses … all of them are familiar with the other person too, as far as my research went … nothing seemed off!

Okabe smiled and said: what a fox! … (he paused) then asked: Are you sure he's not dating those 3 women?!

Police Officer 2: He didn't touch any of them, … He is an adult, the girls we're just teenagers

Okabe: pointless! … you keep on watching them! … you! … Run the cameras in every chocolate store and spot anyone that looks like them!

Police Officer 1: Yes Sir!

Police Officer 2: Are we done for today?!

Okabe: Aren't you going to go back to watch them?!

Police Officer 2: They went for dinner and they will head home … it's pointless to follow them all the way home!

Okabe: just do whatever you need to get me the results I want!

(In A Restaurant)

Yashiro looked at the time and said: let's go in!

The restaurant server escorted them to a private room

Ren sat next to Kyoko and nodded to Yashiro

Yashiro left the room and exited the restaurant … he looked around until he spotted the person he was looking for … he waited until that person got closer before approaching them

He greeted the person and escorted them to the private room where Ren and Kyoko have been waiting

He looked around, before knocking on the door and opening it … letting the guest enter, and he then removed himself from the area to ensure no one followed his charges or their guest

Kyoko Stood up, Ren followed … and they both bowed to their guest welcoming them for coming

Kyoko: come and have a seat! … I hope you're not too nervous

Hiroki bowed to the two respectfully … he then approached the table nervously … looking at the two seats, he wondered if someone else would join them, … he remembered Yashiro who brought him and wondered which one is his seat

Ren thought (he doesn't know which seat to take?) … he decided to help, so he pointed at the seat facing Kyoko's with his hand, directing him to take that seat

Hiroki nervously sat down and looked down, unsure what to say … a moment of awkward silence lasted a minute or so

Kyoko looked at Ren, then looked down nervously … she looked up and faced their guest, and asked: Hiroki, right?!

Hiroki nodded and said: Yes …

Kyoko: I'm sure you know who I am by now, … perhaps also the man seated beside me … but perhaps we should introduce ourselves properly

Ren: I'm Tsuraga Ren, nice to meet you

Kyoko: and I'm Mogami Kyoko … thank you for joining us today

Hiroki: Thank you for inviting me … I'm Hiroki … just that!

Kyoko noticed how nervous Hiroki is, especially since he chose not to say his family name, so she said: you don't have to be ashamed of who you are! …you don't have to worry about me!

Hiroki: Ok … however, I still prefer to introduce myself with my first name only, that's what I do even back home!

Yashiro returned, and sat next to Hiroki, saying: the coast is clear!

Hiroki looked at Yashiro and figured that he was making sure no one followed him, so he reassured, saying: I made sure to come here without anyone's knowledge … actually only my mom knows I'm here … but she promised not to let anyone know … besides the other two are out anyway, so I'm sure no one knows about this … I thought it was best to keep it a secret … I …

Ren: Don't worry … he's also making sure no reporters are following us either!

Hiroki: Oh? ... ok

Ren looked at Kyoko giving her the chance to speak again

Kyoko nodded and spoke up, saying: I would like to thank you for warning us about those cameras!

Hiroki: No … I should apologize … it took me a long time to tell you about them … I wasn't sure it was appropriate to use the email you gave me … my mom said she would do something, but she didn't manage to meet your mother … and wasn't sure when she would get her massage

Kyoko: You don't need to apologize … I'm sure you're not behind installing them

Hiroki: still … we kind of watched you the night before we warned you … well, it was my two younger siblings … we caught them, and we watched a tiny bit … then we closed the application and decided to do something … but … we still watched a little … and I feel guilty about that!

Kyoko: again, I don't blame you! … you don't have to feel guilty about it at all!

Hiroki nodded without arguing further … he personally felt a lot of guilt, because he had a slight feeling of enjoyment watching … not that he wanted to invade anyone's privacy, but seeing how Japanese people acted normally fascinated him, moreover, he thought Kyoko had a unique personality and he felt intrigued to learn more about her, however, in the end, he knew the right thing is to stop and didn't want to watch anymore because he knew it was wrong

A little worried Kyoko assured him: It's ok, really!

Hiroki: um ... can I ask?

Kyoko: sure, go ahead!

Nervous, Hiroki asks: Do you find the cameras due to the email or my mom's message … not that it matters … I mean …

Kyoko: Neither … I was actually suspicious something was off, and I managed to tell my mother about it, so we spoke with some people and tried to see if we can find something … the funny thing is … the kitten that I adopted yesterday is the one that led us to the discovery of the cameras

Surprised, Hiroki: oh! …you adopted a cat?

Kyoko nodded happily and said: I found her in the park, and I couldn't help but take her in … my mom agreed so … we adopted her … her name is Remi!

Hiroki smiled and said: That's good to hear

Unsure, Ren asked: were you worried that your email or your mother's message might cause some trouble?!

Guilty, Hiroki nodded, then explained: even if it caused trouble, we would still have warned you, because it's the right thing to do … I'm just worried that if my grandma learned about that, she would give my mom a hard time … (he looked down feeling a little guilty)

Kyoko: well … luckily … we only saw the email and message after all cameras were removed … so you can rest assure that you and your mother won't face any trouble!

Hiroki nodded and said: Thank you … and I'm sorry … I felt like the question was selfish on my part because I'm really worried about my mother … although this whole thing is unfair to you and your mother!

Kyoko thought for a moment and then asked: why would you think it's selfish, … I think it's actually selfless because you worried about your mother instead of yourself!

Hiroki: I'm glad that you think I'm selfless for caring about my mother … to be honest, I'm not sure what's ok to mention … as I don't want to say anything to offend you!

Kyoko: You're a good person, Hiroki! … I don't think you'll say anything that would offend me, not on purpose at least …

Ren added: besides, you might be selfless, but Mogami-san is the most generous person I have met, I don't think she would ever judge you harshly … I'm sure she'll forgive you if you said something insensitive if any!

Kyoko looked at Ren and smiled, nodding thanks … she then looked at Hiroki and said: feel free to talk about yourself and your family!

Feeling relieved, Hiroki nodded, then explained: I feel like finding the email is much better than the message my mother left … I'm glad you found the cameras before you got either … because if my grandma … I mean the … (worried, he looked down and stopped talking)

Kyoko: It's ok … keep going …

Ren: perhaps you feel like you might hurt Mogami-san by mentioning your grandmother or your paternal side!

Kyoko: It's ok if you said: "my" for your family members! … they are in fact that, aren't they!

Hiroki: are you sure it won't bother you?!

Kyoko shook her head and said: It won't! … as long as I'm not linked to them, I will be fine!

Hiroki nodded and said: ok …

Ren: what would happen if your grandmother learned about your mother's involvement?

Hiroki: She would be even crueler to my mother if she heard that my mother warned you two! … If it wasn't for my younger brothers playing with her iPad, we wouldn't have known about the cameras

Ren: Well, surely you don't have to worry about that anymore since the cameras were found before we saw any of your messages!

Hiroki nodded and said: yes … Thank you for letting me know!

Concerned, Kyoko asks: why would she be cruel though? … isn't she, your mother? … didn't she marry into the family? … by no means am I an expert, but I know you need to get permission before getting married, or is it different in the US?

Hiroki: You indeed need permission, … my mother needed to learn Japanese before she can be accepted into the family … But my grandma always held the fact my mom is American against her

Ren sighed remembering his own family drama … his mother was shunned by her family for marrying a man of Japanese descent, even though his father isn't fully Japanese … they didn't care, and still made him and his family suffer because they were racist

Partly confused, Kyoko asks: aren't you American though? … what's her point?!

Hiroki: We are … she is as well … but, … My Grandma prides herself on being a Japanese American and had expectations that her son would marry someone similar to them, however, my mother is a white American, of English descent … not being partly Asian is the reason why my grandma is mean to my mother

Ren: she's being prejudice against her then

Hiroki nodded, saying … she always told my mom that she is failing at raising us because we are hardly Japanese … We rarely ever do something Japanese people normally do, … not even eat Japanese food … but, she does the same thing! … she can be a hypocrite sometimes!

Ren: Well, it would be hard to be Japanese when you live in a country that speaks a different language and has an entirely different culture … you would miss most of the Japanese culture if you don't actually live in Japan

Hiroki: They say American is a melting pot of cultures … but honestly, it is really hard to identify yourself with one culture … not only do I have an American mother who has different culture … but, even people within the family can be biased against each other … I'm not saying my mother's family is any better … but they are a lot more relaxed than my Japanese side

Kyoko: I'm sorry you feel that way … I can't really say I understand your struggles since I've lived here all my life and have never experienced that type of prejudice! … it must be hard!

Hiroki: I think that it's harder for my mother than myself … I can't say that I was too affected by it myself … I live in an area that is full of people from different places … so people are friendlier … perhaps the only issue I ever faced was when a Mexican woman shouted at me for speaking Japanese, claiming the US has only two official languages and that I should use either English or Spanish!

Confused, Kyoko asks: why is it harder for your mother though? … isn't she an American? … are people being mean to her for marrying someone of Asian descent?

Hiroki: well … some of my mother's family are shocked by her choice for marrying a Japanese man … and some of my father's family won't accept her because she is not Asian … most of the trouble my mother faces is because of my grandma, as she's never happy or satisfied with anything my mother does … I learned Japanese to make it easier for her, but it's almost useless at this point!

Ren: I assume it's more than just the race issue?

Hiroki nodded and said: well, … by my grandma's standards … my mother should have given her one grandson and one granddaughter … I'm the firstborn, so she ok with me … but when my mother had two additional boys and had trouble giving having a girl, she was deemed broken … it doesn't help since my mother just experienced her 3rd miscarriage … instead of being supportive in such an emotional time, she blames my mother and says nasty things to make her feel even worse

Kyoko looked down remembering what the doctor had told her the day before … she said: I'm sorry to hear about your mothers' trouble … she must have suffered greatly! … but it's not her fault!

Hiroki nodded agreeing with her, then said: I know … no one can control a pregnancy!

Kyoko was unsure if she should talk about what she heard, but said it anyway: if that old lady wants someone to blame … she should blame her son!

Unsure, Hiroki asks: perhaps it's a curse?!… my dad did something terrible to your mother, and that must have affected you in some way … perhaps God wants to punish him by never allowing him to have a girl!

Ren looked at Kyoko, unsure what she meant … she does believe in things like gifts and curses … but she seemed certain about something … and he wondered if he should ask her about it or not

Kyoko looked away and said: let's drop this topic … I don't think it's a topic I can talk about freely …

Hiroki: that's ok …

Ren thought to himself (I should ask her about it later then)

Wanting to change the topic, Kyoko asks: so, do you have any pets?

Hiroki: yeah, I have a German Shephard … he's a 3-year-old dog … however, he is staying with a friend since we're here … do you want to see a picture?

Kyoko: Sure!

Hiroki took out his phone and opened it … looking for a recent photo his friend sent him … he then handed his phone to Kyoko

Kyoko: wow, he's big … he looks like a police dog!

Hiroki: police often use this breed of dog … but Leo is a nice dog! … he's very gentle with Hokuto!

Ren: you called him Leo?

Hiroki: yeah, we originally wanted to call him Lucky … but a friend beat me to it … he got a Golden retriever a week before we got Leo

Kyoko: I see … that's nice … Leo is a cool name … so … your brother is called Hokuto?

Hiroki: yes, he's the youngest, … he's 5!

Kyoko: oh, he's young … how old are you and your other brother?

Hiroki: I'm 14 … Hayato comes next, he's 10, then there is Hokuto

Ren: so, you all have Japanese names that start with the letter H?

Hiroki: My Grandma demanded that we have Japanese names, but we do have English middle names … having names that start with the letter "H" is partly my idea … so when our younger brother was born, we just went with a name that starts with H as well

Kyoko: Middle names?

Hiroki: yeah … I guess it more of a tradition to either honor relatives or because some parents couldn't choose one name … in our case, we were given a Japanese first name, and an American middle name … to be honest, my full name sounds really funny, so I prefer to just use my first and last … because frankly, I find middle names pointless

Kyoko: I see … I never really noticed that … perhaps because I never really watched many foreign movies!

Hiroki: Hmm … I don't think many movies mention middle names anyway! … some people do find them useful when they don't like their given name … or … in some cases some celebrities use it as their stage name I guess

Ren: That's true … sometimes middle names are useful!

Kyoko: Hmm … so what's your middle name?

Hiroki: it's Hiroki Kai … Miyasaki

Kyoko: Kai? … That's an interesting name …

Hiroki: yeah … it was probably difficult to find names that go well with our Japanese names … Hayato's middle name is Myles and Hokuto's middle name is Nolan

Ren: That's an interesting choice of names … they go well together

Hiroki: well, yes, to some extent … Nolan is the name of our great grandfather who passed away weeks before Hokuto was born … Both my parents know that it doesn't sound the best, but they did it to honor him!

Kyoko: I see …

Hiroki: so … what about you?

Kyoko: Hmm … there isn't much to say … I'm Mogami Kyoko … I lived in Kyoto for most of my life, until I moved here to Tokyo … My mother is my only family

Hiroki: what about your grandparents, from your mother's side?

Kyoko: I don't have any memory of them, … I've heard they both died while my mother was studying law in college… My mother doesn't speak of them at all, so I don't know anything about them

Hiroki: oh … I'm sorry …

Kyoko: No worries!

Hiroki: so, for your stage name, you choose to use your first name only?

Kyoko: yeah, with a different spelling … my original ideas were denied, so … I just went with my name

Hiroki: Oh! … do mind if I asked what kind of name we're you thinking of using?

Embarrassed, Kyoko confessed: just some fairy tale or princess-like names …

Hiroki nodded and said: you must like fairy tales then … like Disney perhaps?

Kyoko: yes, … My favorite story growing up was Cinderella

Hiroki: oh! … I've heard of Cinderella, but I never watched it before … I've mostly watched movies like Toy Story and Cars

Yashiro was on his phone for a while so he wasn't active in the conversation, however as he finished his tasks, he commented: well, that's because you're a boy, right? … boys aren't the biggest fans of princess stories I assume

Hiroki: I guess … My uncle is a big fan of Star Wars, so I watched that … also Harry Potter movies!

Curious, Ren asked: what about classic movies like Lion King?

Hiroki: I've heard of it … but I haven't watched it either … I do indulge in watching Anime sometimes, I thought I would learn a lot about the Japanese society that way … but after coming here, I feel like I don't know much … I guess it does depend on what I watch though

Kyoko: I always assumed everyone in America would know all the Disney movies! … I guess I'm completely wrong!

Hiroki: Disney is very famous, yes … but it all depends on the parents I guess … We live in New York, I was more into Broadway than going to the movies … like Hamilton, Les Misérables, The Sound of Music, and Annie … I have seen Aladdin but only in Broadway!

Ren: Broadway? … that's interesting! … so, you like musicals?

Hiroki: yeah, more or less, … I went on a few school trips … but I mostly go to them with my parents who have a joint love for them …

Kyoko: I've only seen shows like Wadaiko and Kabuki

Hiroki: like the Japanese drum show?

Yashiro: Ah Taiko! … I've participated in one while in High school … it was fun!

Hiroki: That's cool! … I always wanted to try to do it … but I was never picked! … anyhow … what about Japanese festivals, what's your favorite one?

Ren: I've never really gone to one … you can say I'm too busy!

Kyoko nodded in agreement

Yashiro paled at his two Japanese charges … they lived in Japan all their lives and never went to a Matsuri?! … so, he questioned: How?!

Ren smiled politely … not wanting to talk about how … he moved to Japan when he was 15, and worked hard to achieve his current status … he never really had time for those types of festivals … besides, even though there was a festival at the time he went to Kyoto, … he knew better than to ask his very famous father to go to one

Kyoko looked down and thought about her past, not sure if she wanted to speak about it

Yashiro asked: Have you never went to one with your schoolmates? … I've gone to a dozen growing up! … Kyoko-chan! … you lived in Kyoto for God's sake! … how could you miss Kyoto's biggest festivals?!

Kyoko: Well … (she looked away) … then continued: I was always busy helping … and I never really had any friends in Kyoto that I can go out with … so …

Outraged, Yashiro asked: Even that good for nothing childhood friend never took you to one?!

Kyoko: ah … he never liked those events! … he's too good for them I guess … he preferred to play video games and focus on his music … you can never expect him to appreciate our culture! … he's indeed good for nothing jerk!

Ren clenched his fist and his expression changed, he looked annoyed and upset … he thought to himself (he was too busy playing video games, while she worked her hardest to help around … I really wish I can Destroy him for that!)

Kyoko noticed that Ren was upset about mentioning Sho … so she tried to deescalate the matter by reasoning: You really don't have to experience a festival to enjoy it! … when there is a festival in town … the whole place becomes cheerful, so you get the effect even if you're not really there!

Hiroki also noticed Ren's change … deep down he thought that Ren was interested in Kyoko in a romantic way … which made sense for him to react like that when mentioned another guy who's in her life … he didn't know who it is … but from what he heard, that childhood friends is a terrible one

Astonished, Yashiro refuted Kyoko saying: No Way! … The whole idea of the festival is to go and enjoy it! …. I can't believe you never gone to one when you, yourself lived in the historical Capital! … I'm speechless! … You two are … Miserable!

Kyoko: I wouldn't call myself miserable! … I know it's shocking to you! … but, the guests were the first priority when it comes to a Ryokan … I can't possibly fool around when the Okami is busy serving the guests! … it does get especially busy in Matsuri season, as people came to experience them … so, I couldn't help by stay behind and help

Displeased, Ren asked: Even when you were … say, 6-7 years old?

Kyoko: well …. I did start helping around that age?

Outraged, Yashiro nearly scream: That's literally breaking the Japanese Code of labor law!

Kyoko: To be fair, I wasn't employed! … I was just helping around and learning the culture!

Yashiro argued back: is that what you were told?! … learning the culture?! … a 7-year-old can learn a lot about their own culture from a festival! … not helping around a business!

Hiroki sensed that Yashiro was starting an argument over this … he understood the frustration, and he honestly couldn't understand how Kyoko lived all her life in Kyoto without going to a Matsuri … yet she started helping in someone's business at a very young age!

Ren sighed heavily … knowing that arguing about this matter is fruitless since the past can't be changed … he did wonder (If I was brave enough then, I could've asked her to show me around that Matsuri … damn that fairy secret!)

Kyoko: Yashiro-san …. I can't really argue about this … I get it's frustrating … but, honestly, my mother left me in their care, and they were very busy … if perhaps I went to the matsuri alone and got lost or hurt, … they would lose it! … besides, I was foolishly following him everywhere, so I wouldn't have gone to one even if I was given the opportunity … I do regret missing out on such events, but it can't be helped!

Hiroki was surprised and confused, as he thought (left in their care? … as it, her mother let them babysit her … or left her with them for a while? … is being a lawyer here different than in the US?!)

Still disappointed, Yashiro asked: so, you didn't go because he didn't want to … what about your classmates?!

Ren warned him saying: I'm sure you already know the answer… or did you forget?!

Hiroki: perhaps your other friends had other plans?

Yashiro looked down, remembering the facts and the reality of Kyoko's past … he sighed and said: other friends?! … she had none of that … all because of one person, who couldn't care less!

Hiroki looked at Kyoko and said: Your … not so good childhood friend didn't allow you to have other friends?!

Kyoko: oh no! … that's not it … it's more because we grew up together, others were upset and decided to alienate me … (she laughed) then continued: come to think of it … when I first started Box "R" … I was treated similarly!

Shocked, Yashiro asked: how?! … I thought you got along with your co-stars … I mean! … wait! … did they push you off the stairs?!

Ren looked at Kyoko waiting for her to answer the question

Kyoko: No … not that! … well, you remember how I was late for the first script reading?! … when I went to apologize to my co-stars, one of them screamed as if there was a bug near them, and I froze in place … not because I was hurt … I wasn't really … I was just trying to remembering when some said that to me in the past … It's silly … I recognized that I was the bug they were talking about … as I was confused about that, back in sixth grade

Hiroki felt really bad hearing that … He was never bullied in school, and when his brother was bullied once, he was there to protect him and fend off the bully … yet Kyoko was all alone, even having a childhood friend didn't protect her from bullies

Forgetting an important piece of information, Yashiro asked: and where was that kid?!

Kyoko: I wouldn't know! … he was probably fooling around with someone … or trying to write his music on the school roof!

Hiroki: Couldn't you stay by his side? … I mean if he was a friend, he's supposed to fend them off?!

Kyoko: Hmm … at that time, I thought … if I stayed with him, they will bully me more, so I kept some distance at school … besides, teachers often relied on me to collect homework and help them with some tasks … the word homework alone made him run away

Hiroki looked very sad and upset for Kyoko's sake

Kyoko: you don't have to look so upset, Hiroki-kun! … I prefer if you don't pity me … I'm ok, as I do believe that I had to go through all that to become who I am today! … besides, the bullying I suffered is no way near the bullying scenes I had to film for Box "R"!

Hiroki: Still … if you had someone by your side, you wouldn't have suffered that much … I was never really bullied, so I can't speak about it in experience … but when Hayato got bullied, I was so angry, I had to do something to protect my brother … but you didn't have that, … not even from your friend

Dismissive, Yashiro commented: I wouldn't call him a friend at this point!

Kyoko: maybe we should change the topic to something lighter … shall we?

Hiroki: Ok … sure!

Kyoko: Do you want to ask me anything?

Hiroki: Hmm … well, I do have many questions but I'm not sure if it's appropriate

Kyoko: no worries, ask away … I will do my best to answer!

Hiroki: ok… (he looked down and asked) I guess … I'm curious how you learned English, … I mean … most of the people I've met don't even speak it … (he then looked up at Kyoko only to see her look away awkwardly)

Kyoko: I suppose it all goes back to that time … I can't escape it can I?

Yashiro: don't tell me, you learned English so you can help with foreign visitors ay the Ryokan?!

Kyoko nodded sheepishly then said: The Okami is a very traditional Japanese woman, as much as she tried to learn a few words, all she can do is great them … so I, put some effort in and learned English so I can help around with the foreigners … Since I wanted to be as helpful as possible! … that's why many people do consider my English, Business formal and stiff!

Yashiro thought a little then asked: Why couldn't he help with that?! … he knows English!

Kyoko corrected him: Basic school English … if he doesn't know something he will just google it, then put it in his music, so he can look cool … try to start a conversation and he will struggle, I assure you!

Yashiro: Wow! … how low can he get … really!

At this point, Kyoko felt like Yashiro is beginning to hate Shotaro just as much as Ren, she smiled awkwardly without commenting

After being silent for a while, Ren commented: I don't think your English is stiff, maybe in the beginning, yes … but you improved a lot!

Kyoko: You think so?

Ren: Yes … plus, your understanding is superb!

Kyoko blushed hearing Ren's compliments … then said: well, I learned from the Best!

Yashiro looked at Ren and Kyoko and thought about the Heel siblings … thinking (those two! … not only are they flirting, but talking about that time together! … sure, they aren't revealing anything … But I'm here! … and I can understand everything!)

Hiroki: So, you learned English from School and online?

Kyoko: Not really! … back then, the internet wasn't a big thing like now … I think I owe it to the foreign guests who came to the Ryokan, they taught a lot of things, and if I wasn't helping around, I would get lessons from a generous guest … He was a businessman, so that's how I learned the formal business ways

Hiroki: oh! … that's interesting!

Yashiro: At least you gained something out of it!

Kyoko: To be honest, I did prefer when foreign visitors learned a little Japanese before coming over … it made our work much easier … and frankly, most of the staff appreciated it when visitors learned our language, instead of having us trying to decipher what they want to say

Yashiro nodded in agreement and added: I also like it when People learn Japanese … I mean, people in the US expect you to learn English before visiting … so why can't they do the same thing when they come to a country that doesn't use English!

Ren: perhaps because most of the world uses English when traveling … frankly there are other popular languages like Chinese … perhaps also Spanish?

Kyoko: I mean I sort of get it … when I was father's son, I thought "why should I learn the language of a small country like Japan … I would rather learn Chinese instead of Kanji"

Puzzled, Hiroki asks: Father's son?

Yashiro: She means Kuu Hizuri … She spent some time with him, and he helped her with role creation by challenging her to play his son!

Dumbfounded, Hiroki asks: Hizuri Kuu has a son?!

Yashiro: Yes, … I've heard about him, but I haven't seen him before! … I'm a little curious myself actually! …. (he takes out his phone and looks it up)

Ren looked uninterested in the matter and hoped that some distraction would steer them away from his real identity

Luckily for him, the waiter finally came and gave them the menu … He apologized for coming in late, given the fact the place is jam-packed, and he mistook their table for another, delaying his arrival to their … he offered them free drinks as an apology, gave them time to choose their drink … he came back and took their drink orders and left giving them time to choose their meal

Yashiro put down his menu after choosing what he wanted to eat, and returned to his phone … looking for anything on Kuu's son … he found a recent article that was released a month ago in the US … so he said: I found something!

Ren, however, ignored Yashiro and kept looking at the menu trying to find something he would eat

Hiroki was just as curious as Yashiro, so he asked: what did you find?

Yashiro: well, it seems like this article is a month old, but it's written by someone who interviewed his acquaintances

Ren wasn't sure what to think of this supposed acquaintance … he didn't think anyone who knew him would do an interview about him … and anything that ever came up after the incident was already removed … a month-old article about him was sort of suspicious as this point

Kyoko wasn't sure what to do or say, so she remained quiet and listened

Yashiro continued: Apparently, this guy who is interviewed is an actor, who knew Kuon from set … it appears that Kuon lost his role to another actor … called Cedric D. Bennet! … Wait! … I know about that guy! … he's the guy Morizumi-san is interested in! … she almost threw Kyoko off the building so she can get Momiji's role! … and eventually, catch his attention! … The prince?!

Shocked. Hiroki asked: Wait What?! … This girl tried to throw Kyoko off a building?! … (he looked at Kyoko with a horrified look) and ask: Are you ok?!

Kyoko smiled and said: I'm fine! … I'm alive and well! … she was stopped before she could throw me, so I didn't get hurt at all! … no need to worry!

Hiroki: But that's still an attempt of murder?!

Yashiro: Yes! … but Mogami-san has that matter handled!

Kyoko: More like Todoh-san … since I'm Family, my mother can't represent me, so her co-worker Todoh-san is handling the case!

Hiroki: oh … ok … I hope that girl gets punished severely for her terrible actions!

Yashiro: We hope so too! … anyhow … back to the article … it says here that Kuon has disappeared nearly 6 years ago, and no one had seen him since … some people think he is in a mental hospital since he's dealing with the loss of a close friend, others think he ran away from home, … while other believe that he ended his life, out of guilt for his friend's death … but that is unlikely since his beloved parents we're never seen mourning his loss

Ren put the menu down and looked at Yashiro and said: we shouldn't be talking about things like that on a dinner table …

Yashiro looked at Ren and said: Your right! … (he closed his phone and put it away, thinking he can look for more information later)

Hiroki: But … I think it's cool you met Kuu! … My friends are huge fans of his! … he's cool!

Yashiro: He is! … I got to meet him with Ren …I have to say, it was an unexpected coincidence

Ren smiled and nodded … he thought back at that memory when he saw Kyoko acting like him when he was younger … he thought of that memory dearly and cherished it well

Kyoko smiled and laughed about that precious memory … she loved her time as Kuon and missed Kuu very much … she then said: I will visit him when I go to the US since he told me to come and visit anytime! … and that he will have a table filled with lots of food waiting for me!

Hiroki: He sounds like a great person!

Kyoko: He is! … I had so much fun being his son! … although he told me that I don't have to be his son anymore, … I will always view him as a legendary father!

Yashiro: well, he showed you lots of love when you were acting his son, I'm sure he's a great father, and that his son is lucky to have him as one!

Ren agreed silently in his mind … he did think of his father as his one and only Hero, and loved him immensely … he made a vow to himself to tell his father how much he means to him when they meet in the near future.

Kyoko nodded happily hoping that she will see Kuu again in the not so far future

Hiroki smiled but then looked down and asked: it must have been hard not having one around, right?

Kyoko looked at Hiroki and shook her head, then said: I never thought of it that way … I never once thought that I wanted a father! … Sure, it might be a bit lonely since it's only me and my mom, but that's what my family is … and I would never want to change it!

Hiroki: Never?!

Kyoko nodded and added: I was never one to complain … I never thought "oh this is weird! don't I have one too?!" … besides Cinderella lost her father too, so I was ok with how my family dynamic is … well, I also spent a lot of time with my childhood friend's family … so I never felt like I was missing anything … Fuwa-san taught me cooking, and Okami-san taught me how to a proper lady! … sure, I wasn't their child so I wasn't treated as such, but … I was always included in their little outings and holidays

Hiroki: Your mother is a lawyer, who worked very long hours? … that's why you spent so much time with that guy and his family?

Kyoko: well … you can say that … she's what you would call a workaholic … as she spent most of her time at work … she would come late at night, sleep, then get up for work … I use to spend a lot of time in the nursery, but eventually, I was taken in by the Okami and Taisho, and I would spend time most of my time at their home, that's until my mother moved to Tokyo …

Hiroki assumed that Kyoko moved with her mother, since he doesn't know the timing really, and anything about Kyoko's relationship with her mother … from Kyoko's interaction with her mother, it seemed like they have a normal relationship, so he could never guess that Kyoko was rejected in the past

**(Kyoko tried to keep her past a secret from Hiroki, … although she trusted him not to tell his father or grandma, she couldn't be sure that they wouldn't hear any details without his knowledge, so she avoided revealing her strained past relationship with her mother) **

Hiroki: oh … I guess being a lawyer in Japan is very different than being one in the US!

Yashiro: how different can it be … perhaps because the laws are different?

Hiroki: well, my Grandpa is a lawyer … so I'm not sure if other lawyers are like him, but my grandpa goes on TV sometimes, and … he has flexible hours … he takes a lot of vacations and always finishes work at 5 pm … no matter what … maybe It was different when my mother was younger, … but that's what I observed!

Yashiro: Your Grandpa is a lawyer?!

Ren: As in your mother's father?

Hiroki confirmed: Yes

Kyoko looked away and said: How Ironic… how did that guy go from hurting one to marrying the daughter of another? … wow! … I'm speechless!

Hiroki looked down, unsure how to respond … thinking if it was ok to reveal that or not

Yashiro wondered if he should step in, … so he said: lawyers in Japan are surely different than the ones in the US!

Kyoko looked at Yashiro who nodded to her, then said: I guess the US is very different compared to Japan … here, employees can't leave until the boss leaves, it is more of a cultural thing!

Hiroki: but isn't that unhealthy? … I heard about the workaholic nature in Japan, and I find it terrifying!

Yashiro nodded and said: We are all workaholics … Ren almost has no time off …. ever! … and Kyoko is taking in more and more jobs … she is almost like Ren!

Kyoko: You're exaggerating! … I'm not that popular yet … I need to take different jobs to gain experience and become an acceptable actress!

Yashiro: Kyoko-chan! … your already an acceptable actress! … besides, you were a workaholic even before becoming an actress!

Kyoko: I wouldn't really say that … I had some time on my hand!

Yashiro: Kyoko-chan … have you ever went sightseeing here in Tokyo

Kyoko: well, no … I didn't have time for that!

Firm, Yashiro says: That's my point!

Ren: Neither have I!

Yashiro: I wouldn't ask you this question, Ren! … you're the most workaholic person I know! … you lived your life here in Tokyo, yet you never explored the city! … Even I who came from the countryside have explored my fair and share of Tokyo! … Hiroki-kun … don't be like them!

Ren: I never said I lived all my life in Tokyo!

Yashiro narrowed his eyes at Ren but decided to argue because he knew better than to ask Ren about his life before fame … he can only assume what his life was like … but he never dared to ask many things

Hiroki looked at Kyoko and asked: what were you doing before you became an actress … how were you busy! … weren't you in school

Kyoko: hmm …. Well … it's not a fun story to tell … let's just say I worked 3 jobs to make ends meet … and that's all thanks to my foolishness … and … my childhood friend

Unsure, Hiroki: oh?! … so, everything goes back to that childhood friend?

Kyoko: the past …. Yes!

Hiroki: you're 17 correct? …. And you worked 3 jobs to make ends meet?! … I'm shocked just hearing that! … I never really had to work before, but I did some chores around the house to get some allowance … why couldn't you do that?

Kyoko: it's complicated! … I did earn some pocket money helping around, but … I came to Tokyo without telling my mother, or my childhood friend's parents … so …

Astonished, Hiroki: You Ran Away?!

(In the US)

It was currently 6:30 am in New York … (Tokyo Time is 7:30pm)

Yasushi Miyasaki woke up and went for a short exercise session, then he went back home to eat breakfast and get ready for work

He found his recent mornings very calm and enjoyable, as he didn't have his wife nagging him on every little thing.

Although deep down he was worried that if she isn't bothering him here, she might be causing trouble elsewhere

He overlooked that however since he hasn't heard from his son, he thought everything was going smoothly In Japan. He did plan to join them shorty before they returned, hoping he can revisit Kyoto since he missed his hometown.

He also wanted to contact Anna, but feared that his wife would be outraged and cause Anna problems … so He thought he should talk to her when he arrives in Japan in a matter of weeks

However, sadly, his hopes of a quiet morning didn't last long, as the bank contacted him out of a sudden and told him that they only reached out to him because his wife didn't answer their calls.

Yasushi: What's the matter? … why are you calling me this early in the morning!

Bank Employee: Sir, we have noticed a huge money request from a suspicious person, so we wanted to check with you before we make that payment

Yasushi: what is my wife doing?! … what's the amount?

Bank Employee: $20,000 to a man called Yuji Nakamoto

Yasushi raised an eyebrow and asked: what for?

Bank Employee: Camera installation, sir

Yasushi: What? … that's ridiculous, it wouldn't cost me that much to install them here!

Bank Employee: Moreover, the person who requested this amount is known to be a black marketer in Japan … The police have arrested him Today Morning, in fact!

Yasushi: decline the payment then! … I can't have my money go to someone in the black market! … I don't want to be associated with crime syndicates and become a target! … what the hell is that woman doing?!

Bank Employee: alright, I will decline that payment for you

Yasushi: Are there any other suspicious payments made to this card?

Bank Employee: I can tell you about other purchases and charges made on the account, however, none of them have raised any red flag like this one!

Yasushi: tell me, what are my current expenses?

Bank Employee: ok sir, you have paid $1,500 to a private investigator in Kyoto, and $2,750 to another private investigator in Tokyo … also there was a $50 consultation fee for 30 minutes with a lawyer, as well as a $500 fee for documents requested, and a $1000 fee for a meeting.

Yasushi: a PI and a Lawyer?! … for what?

Bank Employee: it doesn't specify here, but I can try to contact them and see what I can find

Yasushi: No, … I will do that myself! …

Bank Employee: alright sir, is there anything else I can do for you?

Yasushi: No, thank you for informing me about the suspicious activity … I will handle the rest from my side … have a good day!

Bank Employee: Thank you for your business, you too … (hangs up)

Yasushi: Cameras, PI, Lawyer, … Black Market? … what the hell is that woman doing?!

He picks up his private cellphone and calls his wife, but receives no answer

**(she's still at the police station, so she couldn't answer any calls) **

He calls his son next, trying to find out why his wife is ignoring him after spending so much money on a suspicious matter

** (Kioshi was finally able to meet the doctor, and so he had put his phone on silent until he got back to the hotel … he never noticed the call from his father) **

He grew concerned something was going on and dialed Anna's phone number, but he couldn't call her, because he couldn't contact her about this matter, without talking about the miscarriage, a matter he wanted to discuss personally, because he wanted to be there to stop his wife from saying anything hurtful

**(he's not aware of all the damage Nanami has already done to Anna, mentally at least) **

He decided to wait for an hour before calling them again

(Back to the Restaurant)

Kyoko: Not quite … well, my childhood friend Ran away, and I joined him … not my smartest decision, … anyway … I think we should change topics, shall we?!

Hiroki nodded, saying: ok … I will try to avoid past subjects then!

Yashiro smiled and put up and thumbs up, saying: better!

A few moments of silence took over the atmosphere … as everyone was trying to find a better subject to discuss

Breaking the silence, Kyoko said: by the way, I would like to ask you to keep everything said here between us, … I'd rather keep all this information from … you know … that guy and his mother!

Hiroki: no worries, I won't tell anyone!

Yashiro looked at his phone as it started ringing, he pulled out his glove, put it on and took the call, then … (he got up in a hurry and left the room)

Kyoko looked at Ren with concern about Yoshiro suddenly leaving

Ren: It's possibly work-related, … maybe he can't talk about it around all of us!

Kyoko nodded in agreement … but soon after, she was interrupted by a phone call of her own

She answered the phone call, saying: Moko-san?!

Kanae: Hey, … I just wanted to call and confirm that you and Yoshiro-san are accompanying me to the airport next Sunday? … I need to make sure because if not, I need to have a plan B

Kyoko: I'm definitely free Next Sunday, I had confirmed that with Yashiro-san, … (she looked at Ren who taped her shoulder

Kanae heard Kyoko tell someone something, and asked: wait. Are you busy right now?

Kyoko: it's fine! … Tsuraga-san said that he will make sure Yashiro is free to take us there!

Kanae: so, you're with him?

Kyoko: oh, I didn't tell you! … I can call you later tonight and tell you if you'd like!

Kanae: about what, your new kitten?

Kyoko: No, but it's related to it, to some extent … it's also related to the topic we spoke about last Wednesday!

Kanae: oh?! … ok! … send me a text, and I will call you if I'm free, if not, we can talk about it tomorrow … I would like to know everything you are willing to tell me!

Kyoko: Sure, … I will definitely tell you! … why wouldn't I?! … you're my best friend in the whole wide world!

Still sour about Ren knowing more, Kanae sarcastically said: yet not as close as Tsuraga!

Kyoko: Hey! … I told you that was only because of the timing … I will be better next time! I promise!

Kanae: Never mind me, it's fine … I'm just being a little salty! … I don't care who you tell first, as long as you can talk to someone and not hold it in, … it doesn't matter if it's me, Chiori, or Tsuraga … just talk to us, and … if possible, keep me in the loop!

Kyoko: I will! … Thank you, Moko-san! … you're the best!

Kanae: I know I will be far away, but … I want to be there for you, as much as I can … I hate the fact I need to leave soon while you're dealing with this crap … but I can't help it, can I!

Kyoko: I would be a terrible friend if I hold you hostage here! … I want you to go out there and outshine everyone!

Skeptical, Kanae: I'm not sure if anyone will notice me, but I'll try … sometimes I think that you are more suitable for this than I am … in the end, you're almost fluent in English

Kyoko: don't doubt yourself Moko-san! … you're the most beautiful, talented actress I've ever met! … you need to go there and show them … where has all your confidence gone?! … did someone say something?!

Kanae: no, I'm just not sure I can survive there … Today's English lesson didn't motivate me at all, in fact, I was far less confident than I was heading into class

Kyoko was moved that Kanae was showing some of the vulnerable sides, … she was overjoyed, but tried her best to remain calm and offered her friend a piece of advice

Kanae: Thank you … let's see how it goes … but I'm saying it now if I don't like it there, I'm taking the first flight home!

Kyoko commanded: You are not doing that Moko-san! … you are better than that! … you're going to crush it, trust me! … just use what you learned as a weapon and act like you usually do!

Kanae smiled and said: alright … I need to go confirm my plans, don't forget to text me!

Kyoko: I won't! … talk to you soon!

Kanae: bye … (she hangs up first because she didn't want Kyoko to repeat the pattern of prolonging their goodbyes)

Kyoko looked at Ren and said: Looks like she's having a hard time with the idea of leaving!

Ren: I don't blame her, … it's hard to leave a place you're familiar with to go somewhere completely foreign to you … but she is strong, she can manage!

Kyoko nodded in agreement, hoping that Moko won't back out of a huge opportunity like this

Hiroki looked at Kyoko as she put her phone away and his mind went elsewhere … he felt a little lonely at that moment … sure he was half Japanese, but seeing how Japanese people talk and act made him feel like he didn't belong

Ren looked at Hiroki who looked a little down and asked: is something wrong?

Hiroki: No … it's nothing …

Worried and unsure, Kyoko asked: did we ignore you? … are you feeling left out!?

Hiroki: No! … it's just me! … I just thought of how different we are as people! … I might be half-Japanese, … but I don't feel like I belong here at all?!

Kyoko: why? … did we do something that made you feel that way?

Hiroki shook his head, then said: it's not your fault … it's just me wishing I was more Japanese

A little confused, Kyoko said: Sorry, I don't know how to help you!

Hiroki: don't worry about it! … really!

Yashiro came back and sat down … he had heard what Hiroki said as he was coming back to his seat, so he asked: what makes you think you are less Japanese than we are?

Hiroki: I guess the way you act, and speak … I might be one of the best in Japanese among my family members, but … I'm still lacking … not that I was ears dropping on your call, but I couldn't understand some things since you were speaking too fast

Yashiro: Hmm … well, I guess it comes with the territory of living in Japan and dealing with local people regularly… I feel similarly when we go on international shoots, … I'm there for a short while, so, I feel like a complete foreigner … I might be able to speak English, but I don't make contact with locals enough … but that's the job … I know it's different in your case, being of Japanese descent, but … you can't expect to integrate into our culture that fast!

Ren nodded in agreement … he could relate to Hiroki's struggle, as he was in the same position when he first arrived in Japan … it took him over a year of living like a Japanese person to feel like he belonged … one summer vacation won't be enough for him to feel like he belonged here

Kyoko: I guess because you lived all your life in the US, … it's a different culture than here, so it's hard to feel like your Japanese in Japan because of the way you were raised!

Hiroki smiled and said: your right … sometimes I wish I lived here instead of the US … but, I can't deny that living in the US is all I know … I know I can't be fully Japanese, But I would love to be a part of this culture!

Yashiro: then you should try to embrace it as much as you can while you're here! … you can do some research to learn about Japanese people and their behavior … sadly, … We might be too busy to help you with that … besides, those two don't know anything, so they can't be much help!

Ren: Hey!

Kyoko: I'm just curious … but are you going to visit other cities in Japan?

Hiroki: I'm not sure, why?

Yashiro: well, … the Culture might differ from one city to another … and also the dialect!

Ren: People in Osaka are very proud of their Kansai dialect

Hiroki: so, it's true?! … I thought that was an anime joke?

Kyoko: oh no, Its no joke! … it may depend on the person, but many people in Osaka will be livid if you imitate their dialect, or make fun of it … since Kyoto is near Osaka, I've gone there once, and … well, my childhood friend didn't understand what the old store owner was saying, so he acted arrogantly and made fun of his dialect … all I remember was the old man sprinting like a demon after Sho who ran away like a terrified girl … that is one memory I will treasure forever!

Yashiro burst out laughing … trying to imagine the scene mentally, almost wishing he was there to witness it!

Ren smiled thinking (how foolish … his arrogance seems to only inflate with time! … it's only a matter of time before he learns a hard lesson on how to be polite and humble!)

Yashiro: it always bothers me how you two ended up being raised with each other, but only you came out to be humble and kind! … while he turned into an arrogant monster!

Kyoko: I guess you can say many people spoiled him because of his status … he even deceived Taisho, you know! … he knows how to act properly when he needs to, so he passed that fish-eating test with flying colors!

Ren narrowed his eyes thinking (that punk is well-liked by the Taisho?! … perhaps I should ask Kyoko to teach me how to eat that damned fish … I have to gain his approval in the near future!)

Hiroki was very curious to know what the childhood friend did to Kyoko … but, he didn't feel like he had the right to ask

The waiter came back with their drinks and took their meal orders … he apologized again for the delay

Kyoko: Maybe next time I should Cook instead!

Yashiro: oh, that would be great!

Ren smiled in agreement, remembering last night when he cooked with Kyoko and ate a very delicious meal with her, her mother, and the Todoh Brothers

Kyoko: what's your favorite Japanese meal?

Hiroki: Hmm … maybe sushi? … I always have sushi in the US!

Yashiro grumbled saying: I feel like that's what most foreigners say when they come here! … Japan isn't all about Sushi!

Kyoko: you said you didn't eat Japanese food often?

Hiroki: rarely ever … we only have Japanese food if we go to a Japanese restaurant … like hibachi!

Yashiro almost lost it … he felt like Hiroki had no clue what Japanese cuisine was like … he covered his face in agony

Ren: Perhaps we should've chosen a different place to eat!

Kyoko: we were limited to several places, and this was our best option!

Hiroki: it's fine! … perhaps if we meet again, we can plan something different!

Kyoko nodded in agreement and said: If we get a chance to meet again, I will make sure you have an authentic Japanese meal, at the best place in town, … if you're willing to make the trip there!

Hiroki: I don't mind … thank you!

The four enjoyed some good food, as they talked about different things like how school is like, and touched upon the showbiz industry slightly … they were able to avoid talking about Sho for the rest of the night

(In the Grad-Jewel Hotel)

Kioshi came back after talking to the doctor, and told Anna about everything he learned … he also told her that he was getting tested to make sure if he indeed passed it down and that he planned for the boys to be tested once they were back in the states

Anna agreed to test the boys in the US, and that they should wait for the results before talking about their next step, as to if they wanted to have more kids or not.

Kioshi noticed that his wife didn't seem fine, so he asked: are you ok?

Anna: yeah … I'm fine!

Kioshi: Are the boys in Bed?

Anna: yeah, but Hiroki went out for a little, he'll be back soon

Kioshi: where too?

Anna: does it matter? … he just went out to eat or something … let him explore the place since he loved Japan so much, … he won't learn much if he's stuck in a hotel room!

Kioshi: but is it safe for him to be out alone at this time?

Anna: I thought Japan was one of the safest places in the world … I think he'll be fine, he will call if he needed any help!

Kioshi: ok! … as long as he comes back safely!

Anna: you should find a way to talk to him, but only when he's ready! … I want you to repair your relationship with him because he's your son! … I can't have you two not get along!

Kioshi: I know … I messed up!

Anna: big time!

Kioshi: Should I go out and try to meet him, … maybe I can show him something new, just me and him?

Anna: I'm not sure that's a good idea! … he's still upset, and he even talked to me about divorce! … so maybe you should let him sleep on what I told him before you think about father-son outings

Kioshi: Divorce?!

Anna: Yes … he said he would choose me if that ever happens! … but I told him that I'm not planning on separating no matter what happens! … we choose to get married, so we will figure things out! … He's just very upset right now, so give him time, and a reason to forgive you!

Kioshi: how?!

Anna: use your mind Kioshi! I've always known you to be smart, … but your IQ decreased to a single digit since we came! … I can't do everything for you, you need to figure this out yourself!

Kioshi: you're right … I haven't been using my brain properly … I'll think about this very well!

He laid down on the bed and took out his phone … he suddenly sat down forcefully and looked at his phone with a shocked look

Anna: what?!

Kioshi: my dad called me … twice! … what does he want?!

Smiling sarcastically, Anna said: maybe he heard that your mother has been detained by the police … or he's just worried that he can't reach her!

Kioshi: damn it! … did he call you?!

Anna: no … he probably won't because he doesn't want to cause any problems between me and his wife … he would rather be present to stop any arguments from erupting

Kioshi: you're right! … but what should I do?! … should I call back … or ignore it!

Anna: If you don't answer, then he might get desperate and call me … and in that case, I won't be able to lie, so … make up your mind!

Kioshi: yeah … (he clicked on his father name to call him, but his father didn't answer since he was in a meeting)

Anna got up and said: you should call him again shortly … he's meeting should end (she checks her phone) and says: in 10 minutes!

Kioshi: How?!

Anna: you know I'm responsible for planning out those meetings!

Kioshi held his head in distress and said: I can't think straight anymore!

Anna: Take a nap or something … then call your dad!

Kioshi: where are you going?

Anna: I want to get something to snack on, I'm hungry! … and we're out of snacks! … don't worry, I will be back shortly!

Kioshi: I can go with you!

Anna: No, you rest and try to think straight for once! … no distractions!

Kioshi: I'll try!

Anna took her bag and left the hotel to a nearby convenience store … as she was picking some snacks for her and the boys when she came across a mother with her little daughter

The little girl had jet black hair and big black eyes … she looked adorable as she walked ahead of her mother looking at the colorful candy wrappers … the girl looked like she would be around 2-3 years old … she walked past the candies and headed to the snack area … she picked a packet of rice crackers and said in an adorable voice: I want this!

The mother applauded her child for choosing a healthy snack over the huge unhealthy candy selection … she clapped and rewarded the girl with a kiss while picking up more of her favorite rice crackers

Anna looked at the girl with a longing gaze, … she always dreamed of having a girl growing up, but now that they know that it will be hard to have one after 3 miscarriages … it made Anna's heart clench in pain

She looked down and walked away … trying to compose herself from getting too emotional

She paid for the snacks, and left the store in a hurry, … she, however, took the wrong direction and walked away from the hotel … she held the bag in her hand as she walked … her mind was going the negative route as she was feeling at loss knowing she might never have a daughter

Unknowingly, she walked for nearly 30 minutes before realizing that she was lost … she took out her phone and tried to use the maps to guide her back to the hotel, but, however her phone's battery died … she had unintentionally opened her phone on an application that drained her battery fast, so she was lost and stranded at that moment

Anna tried to recollect herself, she told herself that she can simply ask for directions, she could speak Japanese! … however, her tears got the best of her as she saw another little girl walking with her parents … she held their hands cutely as they swung her gently … the girl giggled happily … they got into their car and drove away … leaving Anna standing there with tears threatening to spill down

She wiped the tears aggressively telling herself "It's ok … you don't need to have a daughter … you have 3 perfect boys! … you're ok Anna!" … however, in reality, all her emotion regarding losing her most recent pregnancy and the news of the possibility of not having a girl came crashing down, forcing her to face those feelings for once … she broke down crying on the street

As she cried, people walked past her without asking her if she was ok … most people didn't know is knew Japanese, so they avoided her, while others felt like it's not their business … a woman did stop and offered Anna a packet of tissues and walked away with a slight bow

(In Yashiro's Car)

The four sat in Yashiro's car, with Ren and Kyoko in the back, and Hiroki in the passenger seat

Yashiro offered Hiroki a ride as it was getting late, and he wanted to do the responsible thing and drop him at his place to ensure he arrived safely … however traffic had other plans for them

As Yashiro got closer to the hotel, he saw that the road leading to the hotel was blocked, as an accident has happened, and the police has blocked the area to allow repairs to be completed safely

He looked on the GPS for another way, but it would take twice the time to arrive … Hiroki apologized and asked if he can just walk but Yashiro insisted he drive him back to his place since it was almost 10 pm, and it's not as safe for a boy as young as 14 to walk alone

As they took the detour they stopped at a red light … Hiroki looked out the window and noticed a woman crying … she looked awfully familiar … and as he saw her wipe her tears, he said: Mom?!

Yashiro: Your mom? … where?!

Hiroki: Can you please stop here?

Yashiro: Sure … he waited for a little until the light turned green then he driving to the side and stopping the car … he unlocked the doors allowing Hiroki to open the door and walk back towards a woman who sat on the stairs looking sad

Ren asked Yashiro to check on them, and make sure everything is ok, he agreed and proceeded to leave the car, asking his two charges to stay in the car

Hiroki Ran towards his mother … but slowed down as he got closer, he felt a lump in his throat as he was unsure how to approach her … he clenched his fist and approached her asking in English: Mom? … are you ok?!

Shocked, Anna wiped her tears right away, she looked at her son and asked: why are you here?!

Hiroki: were you crying, just now?!

Anna asked the same question again, trying to avoid answering his questions

Hiroki: I was heading back … I saw you, so we stopped! … Are you ok, mom?! … what happened?!

Anna: Don't you worry about me … I was just lost … I panicked … ok?!

Hiroki: Was it Dad … or is it, Grandma?!

Anna: Hiroki … it's neither! … I just got lost … let's just drop this subject!

Hiroki rejected that saying: why?! … you were crying … do you really think I'll pretend I saw nothing?! … I hate seeing you cry! … I won't let anyone hurt you!

Anna held her son's hand and said: I'm fine … I promise! … No one hurt me, it's just … my emotions got the best of me … ok?!

Still unconvinced, Hiroki asked: what emotions? … about the miscarriage?

Anna nodded quietly … not wanting to tell her son about the anomaly they heard about … she secretly prayed he didn't have it, so he would suffer like her and his father

Hiroki: why are you lost though? … did you forget your phone again?

Anna: No, it died … I thought about asking for directions, but … as I said, I got emotional about everything, and … you know … I just needed a break!

Hiroki hugged his mother and promised that he will protect her no matter what

Anna told him that he was being sweet and that she appreciates all his efforts … she also thanked him for cheering her up

Hiroki smiled and nodded … telling his mother that he will always be there for her

Yashiro came closer and said: Excuse me …

The mother-son pair looked at him, … anna was confused as to who he was, suddenly talking to them, while Hiroki asked: you're still here?

Yashiro: I couldn't just leave you … it's 10 pm as we speak … I can't help but offer you a ride home, … I wouldn't want something to happen to you two!

Anna: That's nice of you, but you don't have to do that … we don't know you …

Hiroki: well, I do, … He's Yashiro-san … he is the manager of both Kyoko and Tsuraga Ren

Yashiro bowed and introduced himself properly then said: please, it's a 35-minute walk to your hotel, by the time you arrive, it will be 10:30 … this might be Japan, but … this is Tokyo, and no matter how safe it is, I wouldn't recommend it!

Anna looked at her son, not knowing if she should accept his offer or not …

Hiroki looked back at his mother and gave her an assuring nod

Yashiro smile and said: I insist!

Anna: Thank you for the offer … and we are sorry for intruding

Yashiro: don't worry about it … we're free for the rest of the night, so we have no issue giving you a ride … this way!

Confused, Anna: we?

Hiroki: Tsuraga-san and Kyoko-san are in the car, they offered to drive me home first

Yashiro: I told them to stay in the car, we don't want people to notice them here on a semi-busy street!

Anna become unsure … she didn't know if it was ok to share a car with Kyoko, especially after she said that she didn't want to meet them … and that she's her father's wife … which makes her the other woman… she didn't think it was appropriate to meet Kyoko, if ever

Hiroki looked at his hesitant mother and thought (maybe she doesn't want to meet dad's child? … since she became emotional due to the miscarriage) … but before he could say anything, Yashiro reassured them saying: Kyoko-chan and Ren asked me to do this! … so please don't hesitate!

Yashiro then asked them to go ahead, leading them to the car, he then opened the passenger seat door and said: have a seat ma'am

Anna nodded and thanked him and got into the car awkwardly … she took a look at the back seat and saw both Ren and Kyoko smile and nod to her while greeting, so she nodded to them then looked away while saying: Thank you for giving us a ride, … you really didn't have to!

Hiroki joined Kyoko and Ren in the back and thanked them for the ride as well

Yashiro sat in the driver seat and turned on the car … he then started driving towards the hotel

They were shortly stopped by another red light, leading up to the highway they needed to take

While they waited for the light to turn green, Kyoko's phone rang, so she opened it and texted someone, then put away her phone

Ren looked at her, so she said: It's confirmed, the last shoot will be out of town!

Yashiro: that's great!

Ren: where will it be?

Kyoko: in Okinawa! … it will be my first time going there!

Ren: That's great! … Okinawa is a great place indeed!

Yashiro: you will have lots of fun there!

Kyoko: oh no … we're going there just for work! … I can't possibly fool around!

Ren: Yashiro! … you shall go with her, make sure she has fun there!

Kyoko protested: and who will make sure you will eat your meals?!

Ren assured: I can send you videos of my meals if you're that worried!

Kyoko: As long as you keep your promise to eat well!

Ren: As I said before … I'll keep our promise, no matter how outrageous it is!

Kyoko reminded by what he said beck in Guam … she nodded instead of calling him a playboy or born lady killer, who takes advantage of women … they have become much closer since he confessed to her, and although she still has a hard time believing he loved her as a woman, she changed how she reacted to the sweet things he said to her … doing her best to believe that he really means it!

Yashiro tried to keep calm and did his best to keep his professional attitude … but internally he was screaming like a fangirl … even with two almost strangers in the car, Ren doesn't shy from flirting with Kyoko!

Anna couldn't help but notice that Ren was literally flirting with Kyoko … Ren saying that meant that he values the promises they make with one another, no matter what the promise is … it shows how much he cares about Kyoko … she was very happy for her and hoped that Kyoko would find happiness with him, without suffering like her mother

Ren noticed his phone vibrating in his pocket so he takes it out and looks at the screen, he then clicks a button and places down his phone with a displeased look on his face

Kyoko looked at Ren wondering if she should ask or let it go … however, soon enough, his phone rang again

Ren sighed and decided to answer: saying, this is Tsuraga

Kana: It's Kana, are you free right now?!

Ren flatly responds: oh, Kusunoki-san … I'm currently commuting, so I have some time to listen, how can I help you?

Hearing that name made Kyoko a little Jealous … just as she was trying to forget about Kana and the whole scandal, she was reminded by it, by just hearing her name … she looked away, almost facing Hiroki … she then looked down trying to compose herself … she couldn't allow her Jealousy to surface

She viewed Kana as a very attractive woman, who had all the qualities men would desire … she saw herself as plain, and not at par with some like Kana … she knew why Ren/Kuon loved her, but she still couldn't see how she can be attractive when many women are just as beautiful as Kana-san

Hiroki couldn't understand why Kyoko had that complicated look on her face … he wondered who this Kusunoki person is, and who is she to them

Kana: I actually wanted to meet up with you, so we can talk about our deal! … I can invite you for drinks if you have the time

Ren: Sorry, …

Kana: you don't have to apologize … I was just trying to bait you … I'm sorry!

Ren remained silent for a moment, … then said that's clever … but I won't fall for that again!

Kana: to make it up to you, I have finally made the decision!

Ren: really?

Kana: Yes, we talked, and … I decided to come out and say it was my white day gift that I choose! … don't worry, I won't make it as if any woman can ask you for that … I promise!

Ren: Thank you, I appreciate that!

Kana: I'm sorry I troubled you! … I was just desperate!

Ren: I'm aware … I don't mind, as long as it doesn't happen again, that is

Kana: oh, so your significant other isn't ok with it anymore?

Ren looked at Kyoko and said: that's not the case … it's just troublesome overall … so I really appreciate it!

Kana: alright then … I will make the statement by next week, you can go ahead and deny a relationship claim as soon as I make my announcement!

Ren: Thank you …

Kana: well then … I hope you two have all the happiness in the future … I'm looking forward to you introducing her in the near future!

Ren: I'm sorry, but I doubt that will ever happen, not soon anyway …

Kana teased: oh … how protective … I'm almost Jealous!

Ren chuckled and said: Good luck to you too! … I hope you all the happiness as well!

Kana: oh … how sweet! … thank you! … say!

Ren: yes?

Kana: is she with you right now?

Ren: Have a good night Kusunoki

Kana: You too … bye-bye

Ren: goodbye

Excited, Yashiro asked: did she finally agree?!

Ren: yes, finally!

Anna remembered that there were rumors of Ren dating Kana, but neither of them confirmed or denied … yet Ren was obviously into Kyoko … so she thought maybe Kana agreed to deny the rumors

Yashiro: isn't that great Kyoko-chan?!

Confused, Kyoko: I'm not sure what you're talking about!

Just as confused, Yashiro: You didn't know?!

Ren cleared things up saying: Kusunoki-san is going to come out and deny those stupid rumors of us dating … she finally agreed to do so, at least!

Kyoko: why? … I thought it's better to just ignore false scandals rather than addressing them!

Yashiro: usually … but at this point, they should either confirm it or deny it … it's causing trouble since everyone wants a scope … and that is hindering our work since my phone keeps blowing up with article exclusives and interviews on that topic … I actually almost missed an important call about Ren's next job … so addressing the matter is more appropriate now

Kyoko: oh … that makes sense then!

Yashiro nodded, I'm glad she finally agreed!

Ren: I'm glad that's over!

Yashiro: not yet, but soon! … don't forget we'll have to make a statement soon after hers!

Ren: yeah … that's why I hate getting into troublesome situations!

Yashiro chuckled and said: don't go drinking, and you'll avoid most of the problems you might ever face!

Ren: perhaps I should quit drinking alcohol for good … is that even possible?

Kyoko: I think so! … my mom doesn't drink … well … rarely ever!

Yashiro: really?!

Kyoko: Todoh-san told me so! … she would even reject a drink invitation from a respected mentor … in fact, we don't even have sake at home! … or beer!

Yashiro: That's impressive … I do like to have a few beers after a long hard-working week!

Anna thought to herself (she doesn't even own alcoholic drinks at home? … I always imagined that the Asian culture is all about drinking after work? … Kioshi and my father in law love their sake and beer … perhaps some people are like that)

Kyoko: I might end up the same … Okami-san did offer me light sake once, but I couldn't bring myself to drink it!

Hiroki: but isn't sake for adults only?

Yashiro: well, sure drinking age starts at 20 … but some people do drink sake around family members or trusted adults … I had a few beers as a teenager!

Anna wasn't sure she should join the conversation, so she remained quiet the whole time

Hiroki: oh! … I guess it's not too different than the US, … I mean, we can drink once we turn 21, but I know people who drink beer behind their parent's backs!

Shocked, Anna asked: who?!

Hiroki: You know … Mark, Diana's brother, drinks beer with his friends … and come on, you broke the rules too!

Yashiro: wait?! … really?! … you drank before the legal age when your own father is a lawyer?!

Anna wasn't sure how to respond … she looked down and said: it's was just a rebellious stage, I regret all my actions back then!

Curious, Kyoko asked: and what did your dad do, did he find out?

Hiroki: Oh! … he told me all about it!

Shocked that Kyoko talk to her normally, Anna decided to answer and say: He wasn't happy with my actions at all … I got grounded for 2 months … (she laughed) then added: my car keys were confiscate …and I wasn't allowed to hang out with my friend after school for 2 extra months

Yashiro: because you were involved in underage drinking

Anna: Not quite … it was way worse than that … I smoked Marijuana because my friend pressured me to do it with her … we did drink some beer at a party I wasn't even supposed to go to, and my friend drive her car under the influence, and we were caught by the police … things could have gotten way worse, but … luckily it didn't

Unsure, Kyoko asked: What's Marijuana?

Yashiro: drugs?!

Anna: it is considered a drug, but many people use it for medicinal purposes … that wasn't the case with me and my friend, however … I was really sick and tired of being told what to do, and I thought I knew enough to make my own decision … so I decided to rebel, worst mistake of my life

Kyoko: oh … I wouldn't be caught dead doing that!

Yashiro: Certainly … you're one of the most behaved, humble, and polite people I've ever met, I wouldn't even imagine you acting rebellious, to begin with!

Kyoko: right! … and Natsu was just pushing it! … but, … I can't really deny that I thought of doing a bad thing before! … I even flipped someone in the past!

Yashiro: Come on Kyoko-chan … flipping someone is nothing compared to other people I know … if you don't think of things that are considered rebellious … then even I would be worried

Kyoko: well … wouldn't running away be considered a rebellious act?!

Firm, Yashiro, and Ren said in unison: That's not your fault!

Kyoko laughed awkwardly and said: right!
