Chapter 28: Media War
(In Yashiro's car)
Kyoko: Did something bad happen?
Ren looked down and clenched his fist, remembering what the president just told him, … he tried to convince the president to release the campaign, but Lory said it would be bad to release it prematurely … he knew things weren't good for Kyoko, but the campaign won't help if it wasn't released properly.
Kyoko raised an eyebrow in confusion … she thought "Ren just apologized, why?" … she then asked: were you caught with Kana-san again?!
Ren looked at Kyoko in surprise, then he chuckled sadly saying: I wish …
Yashiro nodded quietly thinking (It would have been simpler to deal with that, than this)
Kyoko: you wish?! … is it that bad? … wait? … did someone see me going to your place yesterday?!
Ren: no … the news doesn't concern me at all …
Yashiro: Kyoko-chan … I think it's better you hear it from us than anyone else
Kyoko: hear what? …. You're worrying me!
Ren took out his phone and said: the news is talking about you … and your reasons for entering showbiz … not the real reason, however, it's more like this … (he gave her his phone, open on the breaking news for that morning)
Yashiro looked at Kyoko with worry thinking (I should step on it and take Ren to work first, so I can be with her as long as possible … Ren can handle going on his own)
Kyoko looked at the screen with confusion blended with dread, she stared for a good minute or so, before speaking again saying: Is this some sick joke?
Ren sighed and shook his head, giving a negative response to her question
Yashiro: Kotonami-san brought this to our attention, she saw it and was worried, so she contacted us because she wanted you to know this from us before you get approached by any unwanted press
Kyoko: what am I supposed to do now?
Ren: the president advised that Yashiro stay with you and keep the media away … so you can do your job without issues … he also said he would help you if you wanted to take a break!
Yashiro: what do you want to do, Kyoko-chan?
Kyoko: can't I come out and deny it?!
Yashiro: well, … you can if you want to, but, how are you going to answer any possible questions … you can't simply say it's not true, since many people will have countless questions, and some might start investigating you, especially if you gave vague answers
Kyoko: vague answers?
Ren: as to why you entered showbiz, … I don't think you want to reveal the backstory with that guy, do you?
Kyoko: of course not!
Ren: so, if you don't give a straight answer as to why you really entered showbiz, people will start tracking your backstory, … and might find out anyway
Yashiro: I get that you don't want this news to be believed, and it's hard to ignore it … but it's our best option for now
Kyoko: they are behind this … aren't they!
Ren: they may want to steer the pot for their own advantage!
Annoyed, Kyoko asked: and I can't even stop them?!
Yashiro: for now, we should just let the news run wild ... it will die down eventually
Kyoko: I'm not sure they will stop there … what if they run their mouth further! … they already know I lived apart from my mother … they know I lived in Kyoto, while my mother lived in Tokyo! … and what if they keep lying to the media?! … they already did with this! … what makes you think they will stop there?!

Kyoko entered the filming studio with Yashiro right behind her … she was greeted by the director, who ushered her to her changing room, promising her that everything will be fine, and that will start filming right away
After changing, Kyoko joined the rest of her coasters on set … to her surprise, no one approached her about the news … things went smoothly and they filmed all their scenes perfectly … Kyoko didn't make any mistakes, resulting in no Ng's which surprised some of her co-workers, as she seemed concerned off the set, but when she was filming, she seemed confident and focused
After 3 hours of filming, the actors were given a lunch break … Momose and Kazumi rushed to Kyoko's side, ensuring that they will be there for her no matter what … they treated her like normal and pushed any curious soul away … giving Kyoko a nearly peaceful break … Yashiro was also on watch … he kept her company, and made sure no media personal approached her when they left the filming studio to their next location
After filming another set of scenes … Kyoko was given a break, so she went to change into her next costume … she sat down in her own changing room and studied her lines for the next scene she was about to film … it would be the scene where her character, Tamayo, finds she's ill with cancer, the same illness that took her mother away
Momose knocked on the door and entered, asking: ready for the next scene?
Kyoko: Momose-san! … yes … I'm just revising my lines
Momose: it's going to be a difficult scene!
Kyoko: yeah … it's heartbreaking!
Momose: tell me about it … I had to film the scene where my favorite aunt just died from Cancer … it's devastating!
Kyoko: I wonder why they can't cure cancer, despite all the technology we have today … are we still behind, I wonder?!
Momose: Some types are curable now … my grandmother had cancer in the past and was cured, but I guess some times are too aggressive

Momose: say … are you ok?
Kyoko looked at Momose and said: I'm fine, … I'm thankful no one is asking about the news honestly! … but somehow, I think that people don't even know about it, which might be better!
Momose: actually, most people know … but I asked them to not ask anything!
Kyoko smiled saying: Thank you! … I really appreciate it!
Momose: I just hope everyone abides by my request … not everyone was there when I made that request, so … I'm hopeful everyone is notified!
Kyoko: it's ok! … I'll be ok!
Momose: you sure don't look too affected by it, which makes me happy … I was very worried!
Kyoko smiled and said: I'm trying to put it on the back burner because work is important!

Kyoko nodded and got up, following Momose out of the dressing room

Director: I don't want to bring this up, but I have to … we are going to transition to the next studio for the hospital scene … there will be a flock of reporters waiting outside and your manager is trying to keep them away, but I can't promise you won't be bombarded by questions

Director: well, I have to agree … you're amazing for doing your work without letting this affect you … now let head to our next set!
Kyoko: ok!
Momose got Kazumi and the others to come and shield Kyoko from the media … they walked around her hindering the media's attempts to reach her and ask her questions.
Kyoko kept a strong confident expression on her face, as she walked … not giving any reporters the attention they craved, and swiftly disappeared into the next studio without giving them a single comment
As everything was being set up for the next scene, everyone who wasn't involved in the scene stood on the sidelines excited to see Kyoko do the scene … she always surprised her co-stars giving them joy in watching her preforming
As Kyoko waited for her cue to enter the set, a crew member stopped and said: hey, you're the Kyoko from LME, right?
Kyoko: Yes … can I help you?
Crew member: I was just wondering, is it true, what's on the news today morning? … did you come to showbiz to find your father?
Kyoko: ah … no …
Crew member interrupted her without listening to her reply saying: It must be hard, living without a father … I mean, I have a sister and she's my dad's favorite kid! it's true you know, boys are closer to their mothers and girls are their fathers' princesses! … I really pity you for not knowing your beloved father! Before she could get a grip, she was called on set … she hesitated for a second … taking a deep breath in, before letting it out … she walked on set as Tamayo leaving any traces of her normal self behind
(In the Grad-Jewel Hotel)
Kioshi went to his mother's room, knocking on the door … but no one opened the door for him
Nanami heard her son's knocking but couldn't be bothered, she was upset with him and so she decided to ignore him until he declared that he would be on her side
Kioshi: mom, open the door, I have something to say! I know you're in here!
Nanami: stayed silent not making any movements, trying to make it seem like she's either asleep or not in the room
Kioshi: I know you're still in here! … come on! What is this?! … you shouldn't be spreading false information!
Nanami raised her eyebrow and thought (I can do whatever I want!)
Kioshi: This is unfair to her! … if you think this will help you! then you're mistaken!
Nanami almost got up in anger but decided not to get into an argument, so she stayed in her place and ignored her son
Kioshi: This will only push her father away! … you're making yourself the enemy! Please tell me that you'll stop this! You can't go on spreading lies like that
Nanami put on her headphones and turned on some music to tune out her son's condemning voice
(In Shoko's apartment)
Sho woke up at nearly 1 pm, as he had a long night performing the day before. He stretched and sat down and turned on the TV, hoping to find an interesting show
Shoko walked in and said: at least get dressed, we have to leave in an hour from now!
Sho: I'm not you! … I can get dressed in a few seconds! … you take an hour to get ready, so maybe you should get ready first!
Annoyed, Shoko asked: do I look not ready to you?!
Sho: I don't know, stop being cranky … I'm trying to watch TV!
Shoko: at least eat something before we head out!
Sho: I'm not hungry! … I just got up! (he kept changing the channel until he stopped at some news that surprised him)

Shoko: you think this is the old lady's actions?
Sho: yup … that wimp of a man can't do shit! … if he was telling the truth yesterday, he won't be the one behind this crap! … that old lady already assaulted Kyoko's mother once, she's fearless and will do anything … this is surely her doing!
Shoko: and what can you do about it?!

Shoko sighs nervously … wishing that Kyoko will be fine and that Sho is wrong for his strange intuition.
(The hospital – filming studio)

Backstory: Tamayo's two best friends were helping set up their theme for the school festival in the classroom with the other … Tamayo was told to go home and rest since they thought she hadn't recovered well after a bad cold. As Tamayo walked back home to Natsuki's place, where she stayed after her mother's passing, she started coughing violently and at some point, she could taste an iron taste … she removed her mask and saw traces of blood, which confused her … she stuffed the mask in her pocket and she continued walking home, however, she suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed
The scene: Tamayo wakes up in a hospital bed, she freaks out and tries to get up, but Sumiko stopped her, urging her to rest instead
Tamayo: what happened to me?
Sumiko: you collapsed dear, … one of our neighbors found you, and called the ambulance … they notified me of what happened, so I came as soon as possible! … how are you feeling?
Tamayo: I don't know … I'm fine … let's go home, it's nothing serious! … I promise!
Sumiko: Tamayo, please rest until the doctor comes and examines you!
Tamayo: there is no need, … I'm fine!
Sumiko: look, Tamayo, with what happened in the past, I would rather be over cautious!
Tamayo looked down and said: you think I'm sick?

Minato-sensei: it's surely has been a while … longer than I would like actually!
Sumiko looked down guilty … she has ignored his request to see Tamayo over and over because she wasn't sure how to convince Tamayo to see him again
Minato-sensei sighed and said: I understand your position, but you know better, so does your husband, he's also a doctor here!
Sumiko: I'm sorry, I just didn't know how to bring it up to her … just recently we had a scare with the person behind all that pain, you know! … so, I couldn't bring myself to bring this up after that!
Minato-sensei: Tamayo-chan … how are you feeling?
Tamayo: I'm fine! … but why are you here?! … are you supposed to be my doctor?!
Minato-sensei: when I heard you were here, I had to come and check on you!
Relived, Tamayo: oh ok … so when can I leave!
Minato-sensei: I suggest you do a full checkup first!
Tamayo: there is really no need! … I'm fine as you see! … I was just recovering from a bad cold!
Minato-sensei: Tamayo, … are you hiding something?!
Tamayo: what are you talking about … it's really just a cold!
Sumiko: she has a bad case of a cold, that's all!
Minato-sensei: and how long has it been since you first felt ill?
Tamayo: 2 weeks … it's just the cough that is taking longer to go away … always the same thing, nothing new!

Minato-sensei looked at Sumiko and then looked down with a grim expression … then asked: is there anything else you can tell me?!
Tamayo: no … nothing else! … I told you I'm fine, I just need to rest more!
Sumiko understood the doctor's expression and said: is there anything worrisome?!
Minato-sensei sighed heavily then said: you should know that collapsing like this isn't normal!
Defensive, Tamayo: you're just over-reacting because of my mother's illness! … I'm fine! … I'm young and healthy!
Sumiko: it's true! … this is the first time this ever happened … I do want her to do a checkup just to make sure she's ok!
Minato-sensei: Alright then … can you explain this, Tamayo? … (he took out a bag from his pocket and there was a mask inside, … Tamayo's mask that had some bloodstains on it)
Tamayo nervously stared at her mask … she could tell it was hers right away because she had written her name on it as she does with everything she owned
Sumiko freaks out asking: Are you coughing blood?
Minato-sensei: we need to do a full check-up Tamayo … let's not do the same mistake and figure out what's wrong right away! … so, we can help you before we're out of time!
Tamayo bit her lip nervously looking away … not wanting to argue because she knew she couldn't get out of it anymore
Sumiko: Tamayo, answer me, … since when has this been happening?
Minato-sensei: are you hiding anything else … like pain in the chest, … tell me all your symptoms, please!
Tamayo was reluctant but knew she should cooperate, so she said: before I say anything and agree to this check-up, you need to promise me one thing … promise to keep any of this information from Natsuki and Miwako
They agreed, hoping the results won't be bad anyways …. Tamayo has her blood drawn and did many different examinations like x-rays and an MRI
The Minato-sensei tells them that they should meet him in a week, so they can discuss the results, however, if he gets anything urgent, he urged them to come to him right away if they get a call any earlier than a week
- The scene ended –
The director okayed the scene and asked the actors to get changed, so they can film the next scene which is 2-3 days after the scene they just filmed
Once all actors were ready, they all entered the set and the filming resumed
The scene started from the arrival of Sumiko and Tamayo at the hospital … Tamayo was physically examined and then asked to wait for the doctor to call her … they waited around 10 minutes before Minato-sensei appeared before them, taking them to his office and sitting them down
Minato-sensei took a deep breath and took out some scans, and putting them up for his patient to see … he finally spoke and informed Tamayo that she had a huge tumor in her lungs, which is causing her to cough, he said he wouldn't know about the stage and type unless he can do a Biopsy
Tamayo seemed like she was anticipating such a diagnosis, but she was still speechless at the fact her worst nightmare came true … she might die from the same illness that killed her mother
Sumiko urged Tamayo to agree to do the biopsy right away, asking the doctor when they can schedule it, but to her surprise, Tamayo rejected that and asked them to keep this news from everyone
Minato-sensei refused to accept Tamayo's decision, and informed her that she won't leave his office until she schedules a biopsy … Sumiko took his side and agreed with him because she didn't want Tamayo to delay her treatment like her mother did, which ultimately caused her to lose her life
Tamayo refused once again, stating that if she was to do a biopsy, she won't be able to hide the fact she has a tumor, and she was against telling anyone about her illness, especially her two best friends
Although Sumiko tried to talk Tamayo into having the procedure, stating that her life is more important than keeping a secret … she also added that she won't allow Tamayo to make the same mistakes … telling her that her friends will be supportive and will always be by her side, misunderstanding Tamayo's position
Tamayo kept her stance on the matter, refusing to change her mind
Sumiko got really upset and started crying, begging Tamayo to reconsider, promising that her friends are real, and they will be supportive and won't leave her side because she's ill
Tamayo: this is exactly why I don't want to tell anyone! … you saw how cancer killed my mother, you saw how Chemo-therapy destroyed her … they also witnessed it all, and she doesn't want any of them to go through that again
Sumiko was baffled with Tamayo and her reasoning, she said that she will have to get treatment to save herself … she can't just give up … she won't allow her to
Minato-sensei wanted to knock some sense into Tamayo, but he understood her position, many of his patients struggle to accept the diagnosis, … he thought she might be in denial, so he calmed Sumiko down asking her to take a few days to think, then get back to him
As Tamayo got up hoping to leave that office, as she felt suffocated by the fact she got a tumor, just like her mother … she headed to the door, but it opened before she reached it … an older man walked in with his wife following him in … he asked: Is this Minato-sensei office?
Tamayo looked at the man wondering why he's here, thinking: wasn't he supposed to wait his turn? isn't it rude to interrupt someone's appointment?
Minato-sensei: Yes, this is my office! … however, I will have to ask you to leave until I'm done with my patient … please wait your turn
The man: I'm not a patient! … I came asking for you because you were my daughters' doctor! … where is she?! My daughter?!
Confused, Minato-sensei asked: who's your daughter?
The man: My daughter?… I was told her name is Aiko Matsuda
Tamayo, Sumiko, and Minato-sensei were shell-shocked hearing that
Minato-sensei frowned and asked: you were told?
The man: Yes! … My daughter was kidnapped a long time ago, she was apparently adopted by someone in the Matsuda family before she was released from their care …
I don't know how she lived her life, …I've reached one dead-end after another, but I finally learned something new so I'm here for answers! … I heard that she was your patient at some point! so, tell me, where is she?!
Minato-sensei looked down clenching his fist … he was heartbroken when Aiko refused to get treated because she couldn't afford it … and it was too late when she came back … she worked really hard to get the needed money, but her illness had spread since her last visit, making her full recovery impossible
The man: speak up! … where is she?! … do you know the people she was with, I can try to contact them! … please! … I want to see my child!
The older lady finally moved, showing her face for the first time, she spoke quietly saying: please help us, sensei!
Tamayo saw the older lady's face, and mumbled: Mom?
Sumiko couldn't help but notice that Aiko's face was a spitting image of this older lady, she was sure they must be related somehow … she looked at Tamayo, who also resembled her mother more and more as she grew older … she could see the similarities between them
Tamayo took a few steps backward: this is impossible!
Minato-sensei switched his attention to Tamayo, as he heard her talk … he knew she would be confused and startled … he was also confused when he first saw the older women's face
The older women looked at Tamayo and thought (she looks familiar)
Sumiko bit her lip and thought (can they be trusted though?!) … she moved to stand in front of Tamayo defensively
Confused, Tamayo asked: how do you have my mother's face?!
The older man was just as confused by Tamayo's statement, so he asked: your mother?!
Sumiko explained that Aiko was her friend growing up and that Tamayo is Aiko's one and only daughter … she also delivered the bad news, telling them that Aiko had passed away nearly 10 years ago
The older woman collapsed hearing that her daughter has passed away, he husband held her close to him, and asked: how?! … why?!
Minato-sensei explained to them that Aiko was diagnosed with a brain tumor, she couldn't afford the treatments, so she worked hard to get the needed money, but it was too late as the tumor had spread too much, and although they tried to fight it, she had become too weak, and couldn't handle it anymore
The older man was appalled, he was extremely rich, and his own daughter died because she couldn't afford the treatment when she needed it … he held his wife and cried with his wife,
The scene ended there
The next scene required everyone involved to change their clothes, to make it looks like a different day, a few small changes were made to the doctor's office, adding a different coffee cup, a few posted card, and different files were added to the piles of files in the background
Sumiko and Tamayo had met with the older couple, they all entered the doctor's office together
They had managed to convince Tamayo to do the Biopsy, but only after they agreed to her conditions
She was to stay with her newly-acquainted grandparents, to get to know them better, at the time, she would be hospitalized to do the biopsy, and she would return home when she recovers
Tamayo was adamant to not tell her friends about her illness, as her best friend, Miwako, lost her aunt to the same illness the same day she got her first initial diagnosis … she saw how heartbroken her friends were, and couldn't bring herself to tell them she is suffering from the same illness that killed her mother, and her friend's aunt
The scene ended with Tamayo's thought saying (I'm going to keep this a secret as long as I can … this way, I can keep everyone happy!)
The director okayed the scene, and they all left for another break before returning to the other studio for the next few scenes
(In Yashiro's car)
Yashiro stopped at another Studio picking Ren up after a long day of hard work
Kyoko greeted Ren with a smile, seeming cheerful
Ren: Hey … how did everything go today?
Kyoko: everything is going well, I finished many scenes without getting any NG's … I feel grateful that everything went smoothly
Ren: I'm glad to hear that … how are you doing, are you feeling good now?
Kyoko: I'm doing well, … I'm still unsure what to do about the news, but, I will just let it go for now
Ren: has the president contacted you?
Kyoko: yes, he told me it's up to me to choose if I want to deny the news or let them say whatever they want
Ren: what are you leaning to?
Kyoko: I'm still now sure honestly, … I would like to talk to my mom about it first, before making in decisions!
Ren: that's a good idea, she might have something to say about it
Yashiro: sorry to butt in, but I'm worried this might all go badly
Ren looked at Yashiro understanding his concern, if they deny the news, those people can just get upset and spread more fake news, if they remain silent, it might give those an incentive to go on with their fake news as well … both ways seem bad, so he wasn't sure what to say
Kyoko: I can't have people believing that I'm looking for someone when I'm not!
Ren: has anyway asked you about it
Kyoko: only once, Momose-san made sure to tell everyone else not to bring up the topic to me!
Ren: that's nice of her!
Yashiro: well then, I'll take you home first, … Ren still has an appointment in an hour

Kyoko agreed and sat with her mother and Todoh-san

After that, they started cooking dinner, and ate it together, before bidding Todoh-san good night
Kyoko spent some time playing with Remi, as her mother sat and organized some of her papers for a nearby court date.
Shortly after, they got ready for bed and Remi joined them for the first time, as Saena forgot to close the door behind her, giving Remi a chance to slide inside and climb on the bed
Kyoko worried that her mother would be uncomfortable, so she suggested she takes Remi out, but Saena said to let Remi do as she pleases … and left the door open, hoping that Remi would leave on her own … and she didn't want to lock Remi in the bedroom, in cases she needed her litter box in the middle of the night
(The next day)
Kyoko woke up and started breakfast … she felt more at peace knowing their plan and hoped that nothing new pops out at them today
Saena joined her shortly and they were joined by Todoh shortly after
Kyoko ate breakfast happily and looked back to make sure Remi was eating hers … she helped clean up before getting ready for work
Saena: wished her good luck with work and asked her to update her if anything happened
Kyoko agreed and left once she got a message from Yashiro telling her he's arrived to pick her up

Ren smile when he saw Kyoko approaching them cheerfully … she opened the car door and chirped: Good morning ~~
Yashiro: good morning, Kyoko-chan!
Ren smile a heavenly smile and replied: Good morning!
Kyoko sat next to Ren and told her manager and friend about her plans for today, they both supported her decision hoping it's the right thing to do … they both agreed that they will be by her side in this tough time and that they will make sure the campaign will be out soon, hoping it will help protect her!
Ren talk to her about his latest job and how he thought it would be great if she joined him
Yashiro thought it was very clear that Ren wanted to work with Kyoko again, and thought that he should either encourage Kyoko to try new things or to find an acting job they can both join
Kyoko reminded Ren that they have the Tennis training next week, and told him that it was ok if he couldn't make it
Ren however assured her that he will make it and that next week is rather light for him since most of his schedule is for nights for his chef-spy movie
Yashiro asked some questions but didn't get many answers from Ren … he thought that Ren seems to prefer to tell Kyoko all about his past, and left him out, … he was rather ok with that, but he wished that his first charge would be a little more open with him as well.
Yashiro dropped Ren off, and then took Kyoko to her job and stayed with her as Ren assured him he will manage on his own just like before
(A School in Tokyo)
Kyoko joined her castmates, and waved to Momose and Kazumi, as she happily approached them
They both remarked that she looked so much better today, and they all sat together waiting for the director to begin the meeting her organized before they started filming
The director went over the scenes he planned to film that day and told his crew to keep any reporters out of the school grounds
Everyone went to get changed into their customs and got ready to be on set
For this day, they filmed scenes when Tamayo started acting differently towards her two best friends which worried them … she was a little more distant and seemed a little off, which was a little annoying, as they use to tell each other everything
Yashiro approached Kyoko with a water bottle and told her she was doing a great job, finishing 3 scenes without any NG's … things went smoothly for another 2 scenes before they took a lunch break
As they sat down to eat, they made sure they don't bring the bothersome topic in their fun discussions
They talked about their real high school experiences since Kazumi is already done it … he had lots of funny stories to mention … and they all laughed and had a good time … as they finished eating, Kyoko went to the makeup station to get her touch-up before joining the set … Momose joined her and asked privately if Kyoko was ok, and she got the response she hoped for
Kyoko told her about her plans and was fully supported by Momose, who choose not to ask any invasive questions concerning Sho, although she was very curious, she knew better not to prey on that topic in such a difficult time.
They all went to set, and they filmed the scene where Miwako gets the news that her aunt died?
Then they went to film, scenes where the girls sit down on the rooftop, and gossip about the boys … Tamayo drops the bombshell that she viewed Natsuki as a brother, which shocked everyone since they thought Natsuki liked Tamayo and wanted to be with her romantically … Tamayo never treated him like a brother before, which confused them all, especially Miwako
Another character who will become important soon, called Sakura was sure that Tamayo had similar feelings to Natsuki and wanted to be with him, so she asked Tamayo to stop joking around, but Tamayo said that she wasn't
Miwako took Tamayo to the side and asked her why she's suddenly saying weird things
But Tamayo encouraged Miwako to be true to herself, and that she will support her and Natsuki together because she knew that they liked each other for a while
Miwako: but! … you and Natsuki are meant to be!
Tamayo shook her head negatively and said: We're family! … we will always be family, and maybe one day, you can join it, officially!
Miwako: don't lie to me! … you surely like him!
Tamayo: as a brother, … nothing else!
Miwako: Tamayo?!

Miwako was still unsure …but she accepted Tamayo explanation … she was secretly in love with Natsuki, but didn't want to ruin her friendship so she hid her feelings for a long time … she was glad Tamayo didn't hate her and felt relieved that Tamayo supported her, but it still felt wrong because in her mind, Natsuki loved Tamayo and she didn't know how he viewed her
The scene ended with the girls joining the others and resuming their gossiping about boys and dating … Sakura secretly thought that something was off with Tamayo, and decided to talk to Miwako about it later
The next scene addressed a conversation between Sakura and Miwako, where Natsuki joined them and agreed that Tamayo has been off lately and that she was going with his mother somewhere unknown to him … he suggested following them, but Miwako refused because she didn't want to break Tamayo's trust.
The scene ended with them agreeing to talk to Tamayo if they see more changes soon and returned to their class happily
The director called everyone and thanked them for their hard work, and then asked them to get ready to go back to the studio for their other scene scheduled for the day … they would return to the school on a later date, but since everyone worked hard, and they didn't make many mistakes they finished early and we're able to have a longer break before going to their next set
As Kyoko and Yashiro walked back to his car, some reporters approached them and started asking questions … the director ran towards them trying to ask them to leave, but to his surprise, Kyoko told him it was fine and that she doesn't mind answering some of their questions if they keep them short, as she was still working
Reporter 1: is it true that you joined Showbiz to find your missing father!?
Reporter 2: why is your father missing? … his job? … or are your parents not together?
Kyoko: The news is completely false … I never joined showbiz to find anyone
Reporter 1: then?! … why did you join showbiz
Kyoko: I joined showbiz after I was challenged by a friend of mine … they thought I couldn't make it, and so … I tried to prove them wrong, … however, my reasons to be in showbiz changed, as I learned more about acting … I feel in love with it and wanted to learn more, so I became dedicated to improving myself as a person instead of that silly challenge … I think acting has helped me figure out who I really am as a person, it opened my eyes to a bigger world, and made me want to explore it in many different ways
Yashiro nodded with a calm smile on his face
Reporter 1: what about your father then?
Reporter 2: can you tell us why someone would spread misinformation about you?
Kyoko: I'm honestly not too sure why anyone would do this …
Reporter 1: Can you tell us about your father, do you even know them?
Kyoko: I know who they are, and where they are, so I'm not sure why I would look for them!
Reporter 1 found her phrasing odd and wanted to question her further, however, Yashiro looked at the time and said: if you have further questions, go to our agency … thank you!
Reporter 2 looked at the other reporter in confusion and said: do you think she's being honest?
Reporter 1: hmm … she seemed honest, and we have no reason to doubt her … maybe it's just another Boost magazine lie after all!
Reporter 2: weirdly, they are targeting such a new talent!
Reporter 1: Maybe this is a smear campaign against her by those four girls who bullied her before, we didn't see anything bad from this girl, and she was respectful and honest before, so … I guess we should just take her word for it

Yashiro was glad the reporters didn't press for more answers and let them go easily … he thought things went smoothly and took that as a win … he assumed that since Kyoko is still new people won't care too much about any family drama and hoped things would just end there
Kyoko sat in the back and breathed a sigh of relief … she was glad she took Momose's advice by saying a friend instead of childhood friend since some people around them are already familiar with Sho being close to her … the more general she is the easier it gets to get away with it … she didn't lie and that's all she cared about
She thought if she showed an honest side, people will take her side if anything else comes out … she knew lying to the media would be more trouble than she can handle, and so she stuck to the simple truth and she was happy things went well

Hiroki who sat with his mother checked the news over and over, … he tried to avoid gossip sites because those were all filled with hateful people who take any baits and run with it
He finally saw a statement from Kyoko and says: she responded!
Anna looked at her son and smiled thinking that it's great he cared about Kyoko in this way … but wondered if responding was the right thing to do
Kioshi asked: she did?!
Hiroki: she said that a friend challenged her to enter showbiz and that she found another reason once she joined … and that she already knows who and where you are … that all
Anna: I wonder if she did the right thing
Kioshi agreed with his wife, he was worried his mother won't stop there, and since she started with a lie, she can always continue with more … the truth didn't seem to matter if it sells and some magazines seem to care more about sales than reporting in honesty
Hiroki: why?!

Everyone was ready for their next few scenes, which were shot outdoors
The next shoot starts at sunset … Tamayo was seated outside and Natsuki joined her … he asked her if everything was alright
Tamayo said she was alright and was confused by his concern, although she knew why he was
Natsuki proposes that all three of them go to a music show on the weekend, as one of their favorite musicians has a show in town
Tamayo however shoots him down saying she had other plans
Natsuki suddenly gets frustrated with her odd behavior and secrecy … she never backed down from their plans before and she always told him about her plans
Tamayo simply says that he can't expect her to go to every one of his plans … and that he can simply go with Miwako
Natsuki was actually planning to take her to this concert and confess his feelings for her
He was encouraged to do so by one of his male friends, who told him to choose someone he knows best, … not knowing that his friend was pushing him towards Tamayo, so he can ask Miwako out himself
He was always into Tamayo, but recently, he found himself more attracted to Miwako, and he feared that will ruin his friendship with them both, so he thought choosing the obvious is the right thing to do, but now that Tamayo was telling him she's not coming made him anxious and upset that she won't let him do things right, so he begged her to cancel or reschedule her plans for another week and join them
Tamayo outright refused, and told him that he's being weird, he then accused her of being the weird one who is suddenly acting out
Tamayo: is that how you see things?
Natsuki: I've noticed that you've become cold lately, … maybe even distant
Tamayo: I don't know what you're talking about … why is it bad if I don't want to go to a music show … you can just look at it as a caring act maybe?!
Natsuki frustratingly shouts: in what way, exactly?!

Tamayo: everything is fine, … we have a test tomorrow, so I'm going to study for the rest of the day
Natsuki however remained silent, thinking about the conversation he just had with Tamayo … he was upset with what he heard and didn't want to believe what he just heard because it didn't make much sense to him
Sumiko: Natsuki?
Natsuki looked as his mother then asked: do we look like siblings to you?
Sumiko was confused by his question, but didn't answer right away … she looked at her husband who nodded to her and so she replied cautiously: you've grown up together, so perhaps there might be some types of sibling feelings between you two
Tamayo was thankful that Sumiko answered the way she did
Natsuki however argued: but we were never raised as siblings! … it doesn't make sense to me! … why is she suddenly treating me like a brother?!
Sumiko: Natsuki, calm down … I understand that might be sudden, but … Tamayo is going through some things, that had her things about many things … maybe that led her to think of you that way
Suspicious, Natsuki asked: going through what exactly?!
Sumiko: I wasn't going to mention this until later, but … from this weekend, Tamayo will be staying with her grandparents for some time … perhaps it will be between 2-3 weeks, right?
Tamayo nodded and said: yes

After two tries, the scene was Ok'd … and they went ahead to film the scene where Natsuki and Miwako meet that night and talk … they agree to go to the music show together before he returned back home
Kyoko sat as she watched the scene unfold and revised her lines for her last scene of the day. Once she was called to the set, the director informed them of minor changes before they began filming.
The scene the filmed was about Tamayo packing her bag, as Miwako and Natsuki watch in silence and worry … they hoped that things would return to normal when she returns, not knowing the real truth behind this arrangement
The director okayed and scene and they all met to be informed about their next scenes
Kyoko bid goodbye to her costars and walked out with Yashiro
Yashiro took her home for the night, then resumed his work as Ren's manager, by picking him up and taking him to a late-night photoshoot
Ren was disappointed not to see Kyoko, knowing he won't see her the next morning either …
as his morning shoot was on the other side of the city and he had to drive himself there
Yashiro told him about Kyoko's response and said that the response to her statement was well-received, hoping things would keep going well from now on

Nanami made a few calls and revised her plans for the next day
She also ordered food for herself, hoping she can keep avoiding her son and his family, so no one can disturb her and her plans
(In Saena's apartment)
Saena and Todoh had set up a meeting with an American lawyer, so they can understand what Nanami might be able to do, given they had different laws … they wanted to protect Kyoko and her choice, and the best way to do that is to understand both laws as best as possible
Todoh had done some research on American law, but had begun to become confused, given different states had different laws, and he wasn't sure that also applied to child custody matters.
Saena set up her zoom app on her laptop and made sure her connection was working well, as well as her picture and audio
She and Todoh waited for their guest to join the meeting
Luke walker joined the meeting 5 minutes later, and apologized, as he was having trouble with his connection due to a weak connection in his hotel, as he was traveling back home, and was stuck in his layaway city because of bad weather.
After doing the introduction formalities, they began discussing the topic in general, then they began going into more details
Luke walker: so, can you tell me more about this case, specifically?
Saena: Yes … This actually a personal matter, as it has to do with me and my child
Luke walker: alright, can you give me a general outline of the events, the more specific you get, the better, but share as much as you're comfortable with
Saena wasn't sure she was comfortable telling a complete stranger about her personal Trauma, but she understood that going into details would make her story clear and would help them figure out what they needed smoothly … so she began from the time she met Kyoko's father, without mentioning names
Luke walker: Hmm … so the man lied t you about his name and completely disappeared with coming critical information the day before the awaited trial… you lost the trial, then shortly after, learned you we're having a baby?
Saena: yes …
Luke walker: just to be clear, you said you attempted to have an abortion, was that legal?
Todoh explained the law concerning abortion in Japan and insisted that Saena never
Luke Walker: I see, and so you were forced to have the child since you had poor health that prevented you from doing the procedure … makes sense … I apologize for all the trouble you've gone through … some people are just terrible!
Saena continued her story, telling him that she wasn't a good mother to her child and that they lived apart for a long time before reuniting in Tokyo

Kyoko finished with her bath, which gave Saena a chance to get cleaned and relax after a long stressful day at work
Kyoko played with Remi for a little bit, before getting up to answer a call from Ren … she seemed to lose herself talking to Ren, that nothing around her seemed to matter … it's as if they enter a bubble of their own reality … and nothing else matters until their call ended.
The mother-daughter pair got ready for bed, and Remi joined them right away … not wanting to be away from her human companions

Yashiro made it a sure of his to check social media sites every morning, to ensure he can handle any situation thrown his way … he however didn't expect something so foul early in the morning
He dropped his glass of water on the ground when he saw the new Boost Magazine scandal

Some people on the morning show seemed in disbelief with the news, one of them thought that Boost went too far … others we're unsure how to react … one person mentioned that Kyoko seemed polite and they think the news may be false … another claimed that Kyoko was played with by Kajima before so that news might not be too far off!
Kanae called Yashiro and expressed deep concern, not wanting to be the person that reveals this terrible news to her … Yashiro hung up after calming her down, and called the president right away, who was equally angry and concerned
He learned that the president called Boost's magazine owner, but wasn't able to convince them to stop, since they wanted to use any news that can sell … and surely something so scandalous would sell like wildfire
Yashiro didn't know what to do concerning Kyoko and was grim on the drive all the way to her place … When the cheerful innocent Kyoko entered his car, she was hit with the news like a wrecking ball ruining her mood in the early morning
Ren also heard about the news, and he sent her a message … he was also really angry he couldn't do anything to help her … since even the campaign isn't ready to be released yet
He thought of many things he would do out of anger … Kuon was more than ready to find those people and rip them apart … this kind of news can hurt Kyoko and her career badly and he was very worried about what might happen going forward
He wondered if responding was the right decision, but Lory had told him that they planned for a few and it's not over yet … until they can figure out a way to stop them!

Saena got a text from Kyoko learning about the news on her way to the office … she entered the office with a grim look on her face, but thankfully everyone was already aware of her situation that no one questioned her about the news
Katagiri cautioned Todoh and Saena that their hands were full with many cases, and starting a defamation case was a bad idea … he volunteered to do it himself, and with Kyoko's name instead of Saena's hoping to keep her identity secret for as long as possible
Todoh took him aside and asked if they could meet with them again, hoping they can talk them out of it, even though he personally thought it was impossible, but he was willing to do anything to end this mess

Kyoko arrived with a grim look on her face … she was very upset and unsure how to respond to all this … she was secretly terrified things might get worse than this and feared that her mother's identity might be revealed by them at some point … she was about to cry when Yashiro encouraged her to be strong and suggested she gets into character before entering the studio
Thanks to Momose, Kazumi, and the director, everyone including the staff was forbidden to talk about the news in the studio … all the TV's in the green rooms were turned off and everyone put their phones aside and focused on their scenes
The director took Kyoko aside and asked if she needed a break and although he would prefer to send her home, he appreciated her dedication to her work and craft and let her on set
Yashiro was contacted by Kuresaki, who was seemed upset by the news … scandals like that would affect his film's quality and response … he was already using her although she was still just a talent … Yashiro tried to explain the situation but got a harsh earful about how he should handle the situation, if not, her agency should say something to fix this as soon as possible

Anna woke up at nearly noon, stayed in bed, as she was tired after their long shopping trip the day before
She opened her phone started looking around her social media when she came across the breaking news for the day … she stared at her phone for a few seconds trying to make sense of the text she was reading

Kioshi mumbled: my head hurt, I shouldn't have drunk that much
Anna: that's what I always tell you! … you lose all control when you drink with your friends!
Kioshi mumbled an apology: Sorry, … your right!
Anna: come on get up … you promised the boys you would take them to the Arcades this time

Shoko: yet she landed a job in your music video?!
Sho: I didn't know it was her when we asked her to join!
Shoko: oh, and how do you explain that?!
Sho clenched his teeth in frustration and said: then what do you expect me to do?!
Shoko: at least consult with her, … let her know about your plans!
Sho: No! … I can't possibly contact her because of her mother's rules! … I won't kill my career just to help her!
Shoko: then forget about it! … you can't do anything to help her … whatever you were planning would do damage to either of you, … or both … depending on how you put it out!
Sho: leave! … I want some time to think!
Shoko: alright … your food is on the table … but please promise me that you will consult with me before you do anything if any!
Sho: We'll see!
Shoko left the room, closing the door behind her … she walked away nervously biting her lips in worry thinking (maybe I should've kept this from him … I'm such a fool)
Sho sat down and thought about different scenarios he can use without lying … he knew he was a jerk to Kyoko in the past and he wanted to redeem himself, … and he was sure that he was the only person who can help Kyoko
He thought (That guy might have met Saena-san, but he doesn't know her as much as I do! … and I have a history that I can account too!)
He thought about consulting his mother or uncle about it, but decided against that fearing they might stop him from doing anything!
He got up, put a hat and a mask on, and stuffed the sandwich in his pocket, and walked out … he went to the stairway and slipped down without being noticed by anyone, … once he was in the parking lot, he walked around looking for his driver, just to hear Shoko behind him saying: Not so fast!

I'm sorry for the late update once again … I'm inconsistent, I know … I'm trying to be better, and I promise I will. In fact, Chapter 29, is almost done, and I will start writing 30 very soon, so I have something to post, I promise it won't be a long month in between.
As for this chapter, it's around 18k long, and I want to know if you guys want shorter chapter? Shorter chapter will be around 10K or so, and I might be able to update sooner. Please let me know your preference.
