Chapter 32: Truth be Told

(At Darumaya)

Kyoko, Ren, and Yashiro arrived and greeted the owners … Kyoko was very happy to see Okami-san and Taisho again … she hugged the older lady who was relieved to see Kyoko smiling cheerfully despite everything going on

Taisho grunted to Kyoko and started preparing their food, even before ordering, at least Kyoko's, as he already knew what she liked and was planning to serve her, her favorite dishes to cheer her up

He didn't pay attention to Ren who sat there nervously … he still didn't like Ren, but he thought that his response in his interview was mature and well-spoken … he decided to let it pass this time for Kyoko's sake

Soon Momose, her manager, and Kazumi joined them … Kazumi's manager had some other matter to deal with so he went elsewhere

They all sat down and the Okami came and took their orders, telling Kyoko that her order will be chosen by the chef, and that made Kyoko smile happily and thanked them both for their kindness

After eating their food, Okami looked at Kyoko wanting to talk to her, but didn't know if she should … she hovered around, anxiously, when Kyoko approached her saying: is everything ok?

Okami: that's the question I wanted to ask you, Kyoko-chan, are you ok!?

Kyoko smiled and nodded saying: I'm ok, … I'm trying to figure things out, and I have a plan … I'm grateful to all the people around me who are supporting me, so I'm not going to let that get to me!

Okami: I'm glad to hear that … seeing the news on a daily basis has become harder each time, because of that nonsense … this is so unfair to you!

Kyoko nodded then said: I try my best not to pay attention to it myself, … it's disheartening to see lies like that being told to the media, and people are believing them, even without proof

Okami: how about your mother, is she ok?

Kyoko: I haven't talked to her about the news that came out today, as of yet, but I plan to do so, as I prepare a response if needed!

Okami: I see … I'm just wondering how is she in general, … she must be having a hard time, like yourself

Kyoko: I assume she's having a harder time, because seems to be unable to sleep well these days … but she has Todoh-san and Katagiri-san by her side, so I'm hoping she'll be just fine!

Okami: Kyoko-chan, if you need anything from us, we would be happy to help! … with no cost to you!

Kyoko: that's very nice, thank you Okami-san

Okami: can you ask your mother what she wants to eat, … we will make anything for you two! … I will send it with your manager if needed

Kyoko: I will

Okami: alright, I will wait to hear back from you … I will tell my husband to prepare some Bento boxes for you two!

Kyoko was slightly confused, … but decided to call, as to not make Okami-san and Taisho wait for too long, as she feared she would forget, and she didn't want to be rude to their kindness towards herself and her mother

Ren got up and walked towards Kyoko … he didn't have much to say, but he just felt like he wanted to be by her side, for whatever reason … he stood beside her as she took out her phone and called her mother

The phone rang a few times, before it connected, with an older man answer: Hello?!

Confused, Kyoko looked at her screen to double-check that she had called her mother and no one else, and she saw that it was indeed her mother

Ren was just as confused, but he didn't say anything, without knowing what's going on

Kyoko: who is this?!

The guy didn't respond, instead, he tried to muffle the sound, as he spoke to someone else saying: it seems like she dropped her phone in the car due to the impact

The Police officer: who is it?

The guy: maybe a relative, it only spelled a name, it said "Kyoko"

Worried, Kyoko said: Hello?

The police officer took the phone and said: Hi, … may I know your name, address, and your relationship to the phone owner?!

Nervous and unsure, Kyoko asked: why?!

Police officer: I need to know who you are before giving you any information

Kyoko: I'm Mogami Kyoko, I'm the daughter of the phone owner, … Mogami Saena! … (she then said her address where she and her mother lived)

Police officer: I see, … how old are you?

Kyoko: I'm 17 years old! … why are you asking these questions?!

Police officer: I'm a traffic officer, and as I said earlier, I need to collect information, … can you give me your father's contact information, as we don't see one on file

Although a little annoyed, Kyoko respectfully answered: He's not in the picture, it's only the two of us!

Police officer: I see!

Kyoko: what's going on, why do you have my mother's phone with you?

Police officer: I need you to listen to me calmly and don't freak out, … your mother has been in a traffic accident and has been transported to a nearby hospital

Stunned, Kyoko paled, as she took a step back, and almost dropped her phone, while in a state of shock

Ren noticed her reaction, and got really worried, he put one of his hands on Kyoko's back and got a little closer

Police officer: we don't know about her condition, so you'll have to go there and check for yourself

Kyoko: what about Todoh-san?!

Police officer: is that the co-worker?!

Kyoko: yes, Todoh-san is her co-worker!

Police officer: he was in a different car; however, he was on the scene when we arrived

Kyoko: oh … ok

The police officer tells her the name of the hospital her mother was transported too, and told her that the phone will be sent there with another police officer later in the day … he thanked Kyoko for her cooperation, then hung up

Kyoko dropped her hand down in despair, … she thought (did mom get her car back, today?!)

Worried, Ren asked: are you ok?!

Kyoko didn't respond, as she wasn't even listening … her mind was going around in circles, and confused, scared, and even angry … thinking (This is all their fault! … I despise them!)

Ren put a hand on her shoulder, trying to get her to pay attention

Kyoko snapped out from her thought and looked at Ren with teary eyes

Ren was able to guess what happened from the short conversation he heard … and said: we should go!

Kyoko trembled: I'm scared!

Ren: she'll be ok! … she's strong

Kyoko: what should I do … I …

Ren: let's go check on her, ok, … we can decide our next move from there!

Kyoko nodded

Ren walked away in a hurry, rushing to get Yashiro and tell him to get ready to leave immediately

Okami-san went back to Kyoko's side, once she saw Ren walk away and said: is everything alright?

Kyoko shook her head, trying to hold her tears back

Okami looked at her husband, who halted his work and came to her side

Kyoko did everything in her power to control her tears … she didn't want to cry and worry everyone

Okami: what happened?

Hesitant, Kyoko replied: my mother has been in a car accident …

Okami became extremely worried and anxious, thinking (if I didn't tell her to call, she …)

Her husband looked at her and shook his head, … then said: then, you should head there!

Kyoko nodded

Taisho looked back at Ren who approached them carefully, he pointed and said: we'd like to pay and leave …

Okami nodded, but her husband stopped and said: no need, you should just take her there!

Kyoko: But Taisho …

Taisho: no buts! … it's on the house, you should head there as soon as possible

Okami added: if you can, please update us!

Kyoko nodded and bowed thanking the old couple for their generosity and kindness

Ren: let's go, Yashiro is already in the car, and he just texted me that he has the address ready!

Kyoko nodded and followed behind Ren … Ren bowed his head to the couple, thanking them and promising he would come back later

They left as soon as they can … Yashiro drove carefully while taking a few glances at the back seat

Kyoko sat in complete silence for about 5 minutes … she finally spoke saying: if my mother got her car back today, then now … she ...

Yashiro asked: she wasn't with her co-worker?!

Kyoko: no … the police officer told me that he was in a different car

Yashiro wanted to comfort Kyoko, but until he didn't have the heart to lie to her, since he didn't know her mother condition, or how bad the car accident was

He had checked the internet before Kyoko, and Ren's arrival, … and all the picture he saw looked terrible … so he didn't want to give her hope, … but at the same time, he didn't want to give her unnecessary bad news, since he didn't have all the facts

They arrived around 10 minutes later … so Kyoko exited the car and ran as fast as she could to the entrance … she then walked to the receptionist and asked about her mother

She was guided to the emergency ward, along with Ren and Yashiro who followed her

She spotted Todoh standing there, alone … so she called out to him saying: Todoh-san!

Todoh looked at her, slightly surprised by her arrival, and thought (did the news get to her already?!)

Kyoko: how is she?!

Todoh: I don't know yet …

Kyoko felt a sense of fear and looked at him, before asking: how bad is it?

Todoh: not as bad as I initially thought, … by the way, how did you learn about this?

Kyoko: I tried to call mom, but some guy answered

Todoh: I see …

Kyoko: did she get her car back today?

Upset, Todoh answered: yeah … which was a terrible idea, to begin with, … but who am I to stop her from getting something that belonged to her … unfortunately, that car is no longer usable!

Kyoko: can you tell me what happened?

Todoh sat down with Kyoko, Ren, and Yashiro and told them about the accident, without mentioning that Saena was mentally struggling after her clients dropped her, and one woman came accusing her of something she never did

Kyoko: I see …

Todoh: don't worry, there is nothing life-threatening! … she will be fine, hopefully

Kyoko nodded, then asked: did she hear about the news that came out today?

Todoh: yeah …

Kyoko: will she be ok? … like … her career … and … (she chocked on her words, making her unable to complete her question

Todoh: We won't let anything happen to her! … rest assured, we will support and defend her no matter what!

Kyoko nodded, then sat down in silence as time ticked … and around 35 minutes later, a doctor came and asked: Is Mogami-san's family here?

Kyoko stood up and said: I'm her daughter!

The doctor looked at Todoh who followed Kyoko … and thought (he's still here, although he's just a coworker?)

Kyoko asked: how is she?!

The doctor looked at her and said: don't worry too much, rest assured there isn't anything life-threatening … she is suffering from a mild concussion and a fractured left arm … she has cuts and bruises in some places, but nothing too deep or concerning … We will keep her here for observation for 1-2 days, and go from there!

Kyoko and Todoh thanked the doctor for letting them know about Saena's condition

The doctor: you can go see her now, … we did give her some sedatives to help with the pain, so she's asleep … she's in room 210 … alright … take care!

Kyoko bowed one more time, before rushing to her mother's room … leaving Todoh standing behind … Ren looked at him and asked: are you not coming?

Todoh: don't mind me, Katagiri will be here shortly, so, I will join you later!

Kyoko walked in to see that her mother was indeed asleep … she sat by her bedside and remembered that not long ago, the roles were reversed, she had been poisoned and her mother had stayed by her side

*** outside Saena's room***

Katagiri finally arrived and reached Todoh who had been leaning on the wall in front of Saena's room … he asked: how is she?!

Todoh looked at him, then looked down, and told him about Saena's current condition

Katagiri: you're angry aren't you?

Todoh looked really upset about the whole thing, but didn't say anything, he bit his tongue to avoid saying something he might regret later

Katagiri: I should've listened to you, you were right …

Todoh: even if I was … there was nothing we could have done to stop her, … if I refused to take her, she would have taken a taxi there … we might be her co-workers, but we can't order an adult woman around!

Katagiri: her car, is it salvageable?!

Todoh: no chance … the passenger seat is gone, and her car has been damaged from all sides, she's better off buying a new one, over repairing it … it's a lost cause

Katagiri: the offender?! … do you know anything about him?

Todoh: his injuries are the most severe, but it won't kill him, not yet at least!

Katagiri: did you find out what happened?

Todoh: a senseless drunken driver is what the police said! … he seems to be having some money issues and he decided to drain his money in gambling to salvage his company … that didn't work so her tried to drink his problems away!

Katagiri sat and asked: and you said, there was no way to have avoided him?!

Todoh: it was jam-packed, … she had nowhere to go!

Katagiri: I see … hmmm …

After a long few minutes of thinking, Katagiri spoke again saying: I have some good news!

Todoh scuffed thinking (there is nothing good about this situation)

Katagiri: we delivered the defamation lawsuit, and Boost came to us begging not to go through with it … they promised not to release anything about those two again

Todoh: she can always go to someone else

Katagiri: nope, …, I'm sure every single newspaper, magazine, or news website will think twice before posting anything since Kyoko's boss is taking charge behind the scenes

Todoh: will that stop her?!

Katagiri: she was also delivered her own set of lawsuits!

Todoh: what about the law association, any word from them?

Katagiri: You haven't been online, have you?!

Todoh: I prefer to stay off, I was too busy worrying about her …

Thought for a little Katagiri: but, how do we have to tell Kyoko about this …

Todoh: she knows! … she's with Mogami right now

Shocked, Katagiri: how?!

Todoh: she tried calling her mother and the police talked to her telling her what happened in the simplest way possible

Katagiri: probably because she's young!

Todoh: I assume so!

Katagiri: those two have gone through enough!

Todoh: it's not over yet until we get that situated

Katagiri sighed then said: should I give her a break

Todoh: force her to take a break and you might cut her last rope of hope, she's literally dangling right now, and even mental health therapy is not an option she would consider

Katagiri: like meeting a therapist?!

Todoh: yeah

Katagiri: you know her pride won't allow that … why even bother bringing it up?!

Todoh: because the American lawyer suggested it … I might not be interested in that method either, but, I don't care as long as she gets back on her two feet again!

Katagiri: she refused, you say?!

Todoh: completely, doubting their abilities and all, … I don't blame her, I don't think I would want to see one either!

Katagiri: because you're a masochistic perv!

Annoyed, Todoh roared: Enough with that already!

Katagiri chuckled and said: not a chance!

Todoh: looked away and said: are you going to give her a break?

Katagiri: I'm not sure, … I was wrong once, I don't want to be wrong again

Todoh: yeah

Katagiri: at any case, stay alert, … you will hear from them soon

Todoh: I figured …

Katagiri: I will go get some coffee, want any?

Todoh took out his wallet, but Katagiri waved at him then said: no chance!

Katagiri walked away leaving Todoh all alone … he sighed heavily, before going into Saena's room … he walked by and sat further away, and remained silent

Kyoko could tell the Todoh was really upset, … not that she wasn't … but she thought (he must have been regretting it, even though he knows he had no choice)

An hour went by, … but by then, only Kyoko and Todoh were in the room, … Kyoko forced Ren to leave for his job … and promised that she will reach out if she decided to do the interview

Saena slowly woke up … she opened and closed her eyes countless times before realizing where she was … she thought (I survived?! … I thought it was over for me … I guess not)

Kyoko spoke saying: Mom?!

Saena looked at Kyoko and thought (what happened, how did she come here, she had work?!)

Kyoko was really glad that her mother regained consciousness, she reached out to her mother's hand, and held it … saying: the doctor said there is nothing too severe!

Saena finally spoke, asking: what happened … to … my car?!

Todoh answered: It's gone

Saena: I see …

Todoh got up and said: I'll be back … (he left the room and called Katagiri over)

Kyoko: are you feeling alright?

Saena: my head hurt a little, but otherwise, I'm fine … (she tried to get up, so Kyoko helped her by adjusting her bed)

Saena thanked Kyoko, then she looked down and asked: were you turned away?!

Confused, Kyoko asked: from?

Saena: your work …

Kyoko: no … but I was told that I could stay here because Momose-san and Kazumi-san heard what happened and asked the director to give me a break … I …

Saena: you don't have to worry about me, I'll be fine …

Kyoko: are you sure? … I've noticed that you haven't been sleeping well, … and although you acted the same, something seemed off!

Saena looked at Kyoko and sighed thinking (I couldn't hide it from her either?)

Kyoko: I know this whole thing is a terrible mess! … and I want to stop them!

Katagiri came in and was followed by Todoh … he smiled and said: They're going to stop!

Confused, Saena asked: how?!

Katagiri: I'm glad your up! … to answer you, the defamation lawsuits did their magic, we slammed them with three, one from our firm, one from you, and one from Kyoko's agency …now, they are terrified of how this will affect them, especially financially!

Todoh: actually, the court also ordered an injunction against Boost, basically telling them to stop what they're doing … Boost is totally done for!

Relieved, Saena: they did?!

Todoh: also, a collection of judges came out and denied the news, saying that it's equally as damaging for them and their honor to be accused of such a thing … Judges have their pride Just like us lawyers!

Kyoko smiled hoping that her mother's career won't be damaged after all

Saena: so, she's going to stop, or … is it just that magazine won't be releasing her lies

Katagiri: I have no word about her, as of yet, … But I think Kyoko's boss was right about his plan to shut Boost and release the news about them being sued to all his sources

Todoh: If we kill the source, that women won't have any outlets!

Kyoko: so, you're going to destroy Boost magazine for spreading those lies?

Katagiri: pretty much! … if they have the money to keep afloat, they might survive, but this will teach them a good lesson as to what not to post!

Saena: but, … she can just go to someone else

Katagiri: Nope! … she can't, because that guy is very powerful, Kyoko's boss that is … he had warned everyone else … and he got word that magazine and news companies will remain out of it completely!

Kyoko: I didn't know he was that powerful

Katagiri: He seems to be a strong player in the field, … he knows every inch of the industry and knows his way of dealing with people within it!

Todoh nodded, then said: Kyoko-chan, are you still willing to do the interview?!

Katagiri: no pressure at all! … if you don't want to, it's completely ok!

Kyoko: I still want to do it, … but I'm not sure how helpful it would be since they will stop

Katagiri: it would be very helpful to put things in your perspective, and it will help clean things up … no one knows they are willing to stop yet, its internal knowledge as of now

Kyoko looked at her mother and said: If doing the interview will help us, then I will surely do it!

Saena: Just be honest … you don't have to defend me at all! … I know what I did was wrong back then, and I don't intend to deny that

Katagiri: Kyoko-chan, you can tell them that I'm the one who asked your mother to leave you with my sister, Yayoi!

Kyoko nodded and said: ok

Saena: all the possible answers you sent me are reasonable, as long as that's what you believe!

Katagiri: don't worry too much, if you personally believe something, then your body language will translate your answers as honest … don't fidget too much, alright?

Todoh: Yes, and maybe take your time answering questions, … answering automatically will seem dishonest or practiced, and you don't want that

Kyoko: alright! … I will do my best! … do you want me to say anything specific?

Saena: no … just don't cover up my mistakes, because I don't want you to be untruthful

Kyoko: don't worry, I won't … I hope you're ok if I won't mention any names at all, maybe only Sho's ...

Saena: that's completely fine … do whatever you want, I trust that you'll do well

Katagiri: you don't want to mention a slight backstory though?

Kyoko: No, … I don't plan to, sure I'm not trying to protect him, but his wife and kids didn't hurt us, so I don't plan to hurt them or their reputation

Todoh: that's a wise decision, … they carry their father's name and if it's tarnished it will hurt them in the long run

Katagiri remembered something, then asked: oh, … did you call Shotaro recently?!

Kyoko: well, I did tell my mom that we'd contact him, and Momose-san did it for me, but then I heard something and I freaked out so I took the phone and spoke to him personally!

Saena: what happened?

Kyoko: it seems like that (she stopped herself from saying Jerk in front of Katagiri) … guy … I mean Sho, talked to Hiroko and told him a few things that he shouldn't have

Katagiri: Hiroki?

Todoh: He's the oldest son of that guy, I believe

Kyoko: yes! … I was planning to tell you, but I forgot

Saena: what did he tell them?

Kyoko: He told them you lost your job, and also Katagiri-san lost his too … and he told them that he considered you abusive … among other things … he confronted Hiroki because he was upset that he bought the last of the rice balls he wanted

Katagiri: He told them all that because … wait … that was all over rice balls?!

Annoyed, Todoh bluntly said: that kid needs to be put on a leash!

Kyoko imagined Sho being treated like a dog and cracked up laughing … he was just like the beagles to her, for now

Saena smiled … (a half-smile) … feeling relieved that Kyoko could laugh despite what's going on in the media … to her, that meant that Kyoko wasn't struggling as much, and it showed … she had a good support system around her that kept her strong … hoping that people will always support her because she deserves better

Katagiri: I'm glad you find that funny, … he should be tied down indeed!

Todoh: did he agree to support your statement?

Kyoko: I heard he also has some kind of interview that will come out later, and he said he will try his best to fix his stupid mistake!

Katagiri: alright … good!

Todoh: when is your interview?

Kyoko: At 9 pm, … I should call Yashiro-san and ask him to come

She gets up and leaves the room before Todoh-san can suggest he could drive her, so he gets up, but keeps the offer open if her manager couldn't come in time

She returned and said: he's actually almost here, he figured he should come since I haven't said I didn't want to do it anymore … I will finish work and come back!

Saena: you don't have to, you should rest well at home!

Katagiri: or with a friend, … it's better not to be alone!

However, Kyoko insisted: no … I will come back! … you were by my side, and I do plan to do the same! … I don't have work in the morning, so it's fine!

Saena: how about Remi … we're responsible for her, so we can't leave her alone like that, … she needs to be fed too

Kyoko: I will figure something out, … I will let you know!

Saena: ok …

Katagiri: alright, let me walk you out, … I have some things to teach you about our society and culture, which can help you give insightful answers if needed!

Todoh waved to Kyoko and smiled, saying: good luck, Kyoko-chan!

Kyoko: Thank you

Katagiri: ah … one more thing, … you can come back to work whenever you're ready Mogami! I won't force you to rest, but I hope you will because I don't want you to collapse as I did!

Saena: Thank you …

Kyoko smiled happily, then she bid her mother and Todoh goodbye and walked out with Katagiri-san, who informed her of the reason why he told her mother to leave her with his sister, and how hard it is for single mothers in general … hopeful this information will be useful to her in the interview

Todoh walked away once the door was closed, and he stood near the window, staring outside

Saena looked at him with confusion … he seemed a little off since she woke up, she thought it might be because of the accident … but, he seemed mad, not at her, but mad for some reason

An awkward silence ensued … Saena didn't know what to say, … and Todoh was still angry at many things, that he'd become speechless

The pain was returning slowly, forcing Saena to exhale painfully … she held her head, as the ringing came back

Todoh stole a glimpse to see her wincing in pain, … he didn't even bother asking her, and clicked the nurse call button and looked away when she caught him doing so

The silence took over again, until a nurse broke it, coming in and asking: are you ok?

The doctor came as well, as she was on her way to check anyway … she started asking Saena some questions when Todoh just walked away exiting the room

After doing a check-up, … the doctor gave Saena another dose of medicine to help her manage the pain … and said that if the pain persisted, they would do another MRI just to make sure nothing went wrong

The doctor: may I ask you questions, … not concerning your health?

Saena looked at her and nodded, then declared: I can't promise I would answer

The doctor: that's fine … is that guy, … just your co-worker?

Saena: Todoh? … he's more like a friend, than just a co-worker

The doctor: I see, … he was with you when you arrived here unconscious … and hasn't left the hospital since … I thought that if he was just a co-worker then he would be a creep, … I almost called the cops, but … your daughter knew him, so I decided against that

Startled, Saena asked: why a creep?!

The doctor: well, he looked really angry, and I thought that was weird … sorry, … it's just that I handled a case like that recently and I've been frightened by it ever since! … so, I try to make sure I don't leave men who act weird near my patients ... especially the females

Saena wasn't too sure how to respond so she nodded only

The doctor elaborated: more like, a stalker pushed a female to run away, and she got involved in a car accident … then he came and claimed that he was her guardian … He was very angry when he first arrived, which is usually normal, but it seemed off … and we didn't question it … he sat with her in the room, while we tried to find any information to find her family … and while we weren't looking he tried to kill her because she freaked out when she saw him by her side

Saena: I see … that must have been difficult!

The doctor: Yes, it was … if she died under my care, I wouldn't have forgiven myself … I'm actually seeing a therapist ... she helps me manage this paranoia actually … because I did call the cops at any male coming in with a female patient, and that caused some trouble for the people and police … I needed to stop that, so I got help, and so far, it's working … I didn't call the cops on your friend!

Saena: you're a doctor, why would you go to a therapist?!

The doctor: why not?! … I know there is a stigma about that, but I don't mind! … I mean, if I need help I will get it! … just like how I want my patients to be … if they need help they should come to me … it's no different!

Saena felt off, she didn't know how she felt about the answer and she wasn't convinced

The doctor elaborated once again: look, sometimes, telling your problems can't be fixed with just talking to a friend … a doctor who studies people and their behavior patterns can give good quality advice! … It's sad you know, Japan still has high suicide rates, because people are not seeking the help they need because they fear the shame! … but there is no shame in asking for help! … I'm sure you saw your fair share of cases as a lawyer, … don't things get wild sometimes?!

Saena: I try to put myself out of the equation … I'm a lawyer and can't have my emotions getting in the way of my work!

The doctor: well, it's good that's working for you, but you know you can't ignore your own feelings sometimes… try it one day, you won't regret it! … I promise

Saena just nodded … she thought (I would rather be caught dead than go to a therapist!)

The doctor felt like Saena wasn't convinced at all, so she just changed the subject and asked: so, … you two were working together since he was there with you?!

Saena: We do work together on a few cases …

The doctor: I see …

Saena looked at the door and thought (I wonder, did he want to get more coffee?)

The doctor: alright, I will come and check on you once more tonight … please call me if you're in pain again

Saena: Thank you!

The doctor: no problem … (she smiled, bowed then excused herself, leaving the room) … she spotted Todoh, and said: why did you leave?

Todoh: I can't impose … I'm not family so I shouldn't be in there when you're asking questions

The doctor: what a gentleman … I almost called the cops thinking you're a mad creep!

Todoh looked at her and nodded … not saying anything

The doctor thought (what up with lawyers … are they just born cold-hearted?!)

Todoh stayed silent, … while looking at the ground, … trying to convince himself that what happened is done and there is no point in rethinking it

The doctor: you like her?!

Todoh looked at the doctor but refused to answer … but that just made the doctor take that as a yes

The doctor: well then … take care … she's alright, so don't worry too much, ok?!

Todoh thanked the doctor and waited until she left before getting up and knocking, then he opened the door and came in … walking straight to the window once again, staring outside in silence

That confused Saena even more … she didn't know what he was thinking, and couldn't really guess … maybe she didn't want to guess because deep down, she thought (is he upset because I'm injured, … he probably regrets taking me to get the car)

Saena finally broke the silence, asking: you're upset, aren't you?

Todoh looked at her, but didn't answer … he already confessed his feelings and you didn't want to burst out with his emotions and how concerned he was and how he thought he almost lost her

Saena saw lots of emotions in his eyes, even though he didn't voice any … she bit her lip and almost regretted asking such a stupid question

Todoh: Don't ever do that again!

Saena chuckled and asked: drive?!

Todoh was taken aback by the change in her demeanor … she, who always tried to keep a straight face was chucking and joking around … was she trying to cheer him up or something?

Saena: I couldn't avoid it even if I wanted to!

Todoh: I know … I just …

Saena: I get it … you're probably kicking yourself for allowing me to take my car … if I was with you, I wouldn't be here, would I

Todoh: there is no point of thinking of the what if's … it's such a headache

Saena: then, don't beat yourself over it!

Todoh looked away, staring out of the window again, before saying: Easier said than done!

Saena: are you staying over too? … do I even have a choice

Todoh: I can leave now if I'm making you uncomfortable!

Bemused, Saena stared at him before looking away saying: I'm not uncomfortable

Silence took over for the third time … and Saena felt very awkward, … she didn't know why he's not his normal casual self … she knew her accident might be the reason, but wasn't sure why he's being distant … she thought back to their conversation, remembering his confession, then thought (Is that why he's becoming distant?! … does he think his confession caused this?)

Saena was about to say something, when he spoke first, asking: do you want to watch the interview?

Saena: is it possible?! … do you think they have the channel here?

Todoh: we can do it on my laptop

Saena: I see … if possible, then maybe we should

Todoh nodded, … he got his laptop out and opened a streaming service, then he put the laptop on the table in front of Saena and sat back

Saena: you're not going to watch it?

Todoh: I'm fine with just listening …

The show started, so they both stopped any attempt to talk and watched/listened

(A TV station in Tokyo)

Kyoko arrived just in time to get dressed and have her make-up put on … she sat in the chair as the make-up artist applied makeup … she asked: nervous?

Kyoko nodded and smiled saying: yes, very!

The make-up didn't take long, and Kyoko was able to join the main cast as the host introduced herself to them and told them about the questions she wanted to ask them

The host did mention that they will talk about dark moon first, then take a break, then they would do the questions … she also asked Kyoko if it was ok to ask her questions, to maybe clear up things, if she's comfortable, and Kyoko agreed, … but then Ren, Momose, and Yashiro took her aside and gave her a list of questions she should avoid asking … trying to make the only questions asked something Kyoko is prepared to answer … the host couldn't promise to follow them but said she would try her best

Ren took Kyoko aside backstage and asked her: are you ok?!

Kyoko nodded, then said: my only concern remains about Remi!

Ren: is something wrong?!

Kyoko: well, I plan to stay with my mom, and I asked Yashiro if he could drive me back, but, … I forgot about Remi … she should have been fed by now … I feel super guilty

Ren thought for a few seconds before suggesting: I could take her in, until your back home!

Surprised, Kyoko: Are you being serious?!

Ren: definitely … we got along, so I see no problem there! … I just hope she likes my place and doesn't get too scared

Kyoko: She might love it because your place is huge! … she loves running around, but doesn't have much space in our place!

Ren: then, it's settled! … let's ask Yashiro to go feed her, then bring her over!

Kyoko: but I can't possibly treat him like an errand boy

Yashiro popped in saying: I heard my name! … who's an errand boy?

Kyoko: Sorry … I was trying to say you're not one!

Yashiro: I don't mind helping around, as long as it's not food shopping for this guy!

Ren: I never ask you to buy me food!

Yashiro: well, I'm always told to feed you, because you would go years before remembering you need to eat!

Ren: Years? Come on! … hours would be more accurate, but years, is too far!

Yashiro: perhaps days would have been more appropriate

Ren: HEY!

Kyoko laughed at their bickering … it cheered her up, making her less nervous than she was when she stepped backstage

Yashiro: so, how can I help?!

Kyoko tried to stop him but Ren used his puppy face to stop her, he then smiled then said: Can you get Remi-chan here? … oh, but she needs to be fed first!

Kyoko looked down embarrassed, she then said: you don't have to, especially if you don't like cats or have allergies!

Yashiro: what are you saying! … I grew up with cats! … so, I don't mind at all!

Ren: great!

Kyoko gave him her apartment keys and told him where to find the food and travel carrier

Ren: I will buy the cat litter and its box on my way back, so don't worry about that!

Yashiro: you're taking the cat home?!

Ren: Kyoko wants to stay with her mother and she would stay a day or two before being released, so it's reasonable to have Remi stay with me until then

Yashiro couldn't help but tease, saying: and do you know how to deal with cats?! … I mean, have you met Remi before?! … how are you this confident and familiar?!

Ren: our queue to go on stage is coming up … let's go Mogami-san!

Kyoko nodded and then looked at Yashiro and said: Thank you!

Yashiro smiled and said: don't you worry, I got you covered! … I will be back soon!

Ren sighed, then looked at Kyoko and said: you can do this … don't let anyone or anything discourage you! … I'm right here, with you … always!

Kyoko blushed, and looked down, nodding quietly … thankfully it was too dark for Ren to see her beet-red face … but he was able to tell she was shy, which made him happy

It was finally time to get on stage … and so they both walked to everyone else and got ready

(The last Dark moon event – Interview)

The host introduced herself to the crowd and viewers …. And proceeded to announce their guests … as she names them one by one, saying

Tsuraga Ren as Katsuki

Loud cheers can be heard, along with screaming, whistling, and love declarations

Momose Itsumi as Mizuki

The crowd cheered once more, but with less screaming and more clapping … some guy shouted: Marry me Itsumi-san)

She waved with a smile and a slight chuckle

Airi Oohara

More cheering from the crowds was expected … and it was delivered in great enthusiasm

Next, we have Kyoko as Mio

Before Kyoko made her appearance known, she heard loud Bo's coming her way, which made her hesitate for a second, before slamming the Nakai smile on her face, walking out and bowing to the crowd, regretless if they cheered or booed her

Ren smile is an ultra-gentleman smile trying to distract the crowd, making them stop boing and paying more attention to him and his gorgeous smile, not knowing he's actually seething inside … although he was told not to do anything to get people's attention to Kyoko, he couldn't sit and let people Bo her, … so he got up and asked the audience to stop, as it disrespectful towards Kyoko and the whole cast, so they stopped … he thought he should say more, but decided to address them after the show, so he sat down and let the show go on

The host introduced the rest including director Ogata who managed to arrive last minute … they sat down and started chatting about the success of Dark moon and the Record-breaking sale for their DVD and Blu-rays, mentioning the successful signing event they did not long ago

Most of the cast reminisced about their time on set and were grateful for being part of the project. The host did mention (Tsukigomori) … and talked about Kuu's Katsuki … gushing about how she felt that it was great, but reassured Ren she loved his version better … Ren however wasn't in the mood to be that interactive and didn't participate in the discussion for the most part

Kyoko was also mostly silent … The host did ask her one question, which she mustered all her courage to answer without showing any signs of being hurt or bothered

They finally took a break, and so when they all reached backstage … Ren took Kyoko's hand and walked away, almost running away from the rest of the cast

Kijima commented: there they go, as I expected!

Momose sighed, looking upset, but decided not to interfere, knowing that Ren is the best person Kyoko needs to cheer her up … she thought of what to say while waiting for them to return

Ogata felt really bad, and felt like he should've said something … but he only came after everyone else, and people had stopped booing by then, thanks to Ren

Ren took Kyoko to his dressing room, without being seen by anyone from the backstage staff … he closed the door and doubled that by locking it … then he hugged Kyoko tightly

Kyoko tried to contain her tears by biting on her lip as hard, trying to make it too painful to cry...

Ren advised: don't do that, you'll hurt yourself …. (he put both his hands on her shoulders) … you can cry, and we will fix your make-up … don't worry

Kyoko shook her head, refusing to cry, saying: if I do, I won't go back on stage, I can't cry!

Ren: then don't let them get to you, those people who did that are losers! … and I will have them kicked out in a minute!

Kyoko stopped him, saying: Don't … I don't want to cause them problems, … besides, maybe they will change their mind if they hear my side of the story … at least one might, and I want to give them a chance!

Ren: Are you sure?!

Kyoko: yeah … and … thank you

Ren: no … I didn't do enough, I hate that you had to go through that … We should've warned them … or said something

Kyoko: oh no! … it's fine … I don't want you to be affected by me and the angry side of you should stay in the shadows! … if your fans saw it, they might turn against you, and then all your hard work would be affected

Ren: less worrying about me, and more about yourself! … I wouldn't mind sacrificing some fans for your sake

Kyoko: I'll be fine, … I promise … so,

Ren: I will be by your side! … I'm sure Momose-san won't mind switching seats

Kyoko wanted to argue, but Ren hugged her again, making her halt any attempts … instead she basked in the warmth and love from Ren … while also gathering her strength back up, so she can go back on stage

(Backstage)

Momose stood there and thought for a while, while the others tried to find a way to cheer Kyoko up after what happened, but Momose wasn't satisfied with just that

She looked around seeing the host talking to one of the cameramen, so she walked to her saying: we're still on break, correct? … if so, I'm going to have a word with the audience!

The host: are you sure?!

Momose: yes … I won't continue to be on the show if something isn't done to stop those people from disrespecting my co-star!

She walked away as the host followed her out on stage

Some of the crowd got excited to see Momose, while the others were confused she's out alone, unsure if the show will be resumed or not yet

The rest of the cast followed Momose but remained backstage for the moment

Momose: Hi … since, we're on break, I would like to address something important! … I'm specifically directing this message to the people who booed Kyoko when she came on stage earlier!

She continued: I'm not asking you to stand up or reveal yourself, but I want you to think about your actions and how it affects others!

A sassy member of the audience said sarcastically: is she crying like a baby?!

Some laughed finding her comment funny

Momose frowned, and said: Is this what you are concerned about? … I personally find that very disrespectful … we are all here for a civil conversation in a respectful show, I didn't agree to come and see my co-star be treated like this!

That same girl replied: Ok?! … we stopped because Ren-san asked us!

She took a deep breath then continued: I'm sure you saw the news, and some may believe it, but I think it's irresponsible to judge someone based on what others have said, without hearing their side first!

Another member of the audience said: she never came out to deny the news or tell her story … what are we supposed to believe

Momose: nothing, until you either hear a response or get real evidence to proof of their claims! … I wouldn't believe anything being said without getting proof, even if part of what is said may be true! … sometimes agencies tell their talents to remain silent, and I think you should respect her choice in the end!

The sassy girl commented again: I don't get why she's here! … she should either tell her story or disappear … I hate trouble makers!

Momose sighed heavily, then said: I think your judging her way too soon, and to answer your question, why not, she's Mio, isn't she?

Another member of the audience said: I mean, someone else could have done Mio

At this point Momose became annoyed, so she asked: Did you even watch the show?!

The person answered: I think everyone here watched it, that's why we're here!

Momose: then let me tell you something! … "Dark Moon" wouldn't have succeeded without her on the show! … she's a vital part of the show, and her Mio was one of the reasons this show became this big! … She's never been disrespectful and was always on time … she did all work properly and I truly enjoyed my time with her on set! … Although she was new to shooting dramas, she understood her job well and did it amazingly!

Iizuka -san came out and said: As some of you may know, I was the Mio from the version 20 years ago, … and I personally think her Mio outshined mine, 100 folds more … I have to admit I was against her being on the show, thinking she's no good because she was a newcomer, however, … she understood Mio better than I did, and I agree that her Mio was one of the reasons this show outdid Tsukigomori.

One member wasn't too convinced, so she shouted: LME probably got her on the show! … a newcomer like her would never have earned a place in a great re-make without her agency buying her ticket through!

At this point Ogata was extremely upset, so he stepped out and said: You don't know the process of getting people on the show! … I personally recruited every one of them! … LME had no hand in her getting the role whatsoever! … I was personally struggling to find the perfect Mio, and asked a friend for recommendations, she showed me something Kyoko appeared in, and I was Astonished! …in a good way!

He then looked at Momose nodding her thank you for coming out to defend Kyoko then continued: I personally reached out and asked if she could be on, and she wasn't sure, but I'm glad she agreed because she help me focus on what I really wanted "Dark moon" to be!

People were divided at this point, some people were open to hearing Kyoko's side, others still didn't care about her, and preferred to judge her based on what they heard

The host listened to something in her earpiece, then said: Look, I get that some people don't know what to believe with all this chaos, but I think it's only fair to listen to our guest and respect her, even if you don't like her … If we hear more Booing, we will have to pause the show and removed the audience, do you understand?

At this point, Kyoko has collected herself, with Ren's help, and they both existed his dressing room, after he made sure no one was around … they didn't see anyone in the hallway, so they walked towards the stage in worry the show had started without them

The people who wanted to stay decided to persuade the people who didn't like Kyoko to remain silent, … and after everyone agreed, the host took her guests backstage before resuming the show

Ren and Kyoko saw Momose run towards them, … she stopped for a moment, before hugging Kyoko and telling her that everything will be alright!

Momose: we talked to the audience and they agreed to behave … they totally owe you an apology! … its hurtful you had to go through that, and I'm sorry I didn't say anything right away!

Kyoko: it's fine, … you really didn't have to do anything!

Momose: I don't … but I want to! … we're friends and we want to support you! … I was so upset I thought I would ruin the show If I spoke out … but you know, it doesn't even matter, because respect comes first, and if they want to be part of the audience they need to respect the guests no matter how they feel about them!

The host talked to everyone backstage for a little, and apologized to Kyoko as well … then she went back on stage and resumed the show, as their break took longer than it should have

After the show went live again, the host announced that the audience wanted to apologize for their behavior and that they would behave better going forward

She reintroduced the guest, … which only cheering to be heard when everyone stepped back on stage … no booing was heard, and once all the "Dark Moon" stars were seated, the host allowed one audience member to speak on behalf of everyone there, and apologize for their actions towards Kyoko

Kyoko accepted their apology gracefully and thanked them for giving her a chance to share her side of the story

The Host started asking the leads some questions, about their feelings about their characters now, and their current projects … Ren said that he is grateful to be part of that series and to have played Katsuki … he loved the experience and that Katsuki will always be one of his favorite characters …. He said that he is working on a new project, but couldn't reveal anything yet

When it was Momose's turn, she explained why she loved playing Mizuki … she mentioned how it was challenging sometimes, and she was glad everything went well … she then said: As for my next project, I'm sure you'll be hearing about it soon! … I'm actually allowed to say this! … Kyoko and I are playing best friends in our next project, and I can't wait for everyone to see the announcement soon!

The host is asking: you're acting together, again?!

Momose answered: Yes! … I had so much fun on set with Kyoko, … we got along very well, and I think she did wonderfully for her first drama, … so I was super excited when she accepted the offer to play in the upcoming project … filming together has been fun, and I'm hoping people will look forward to seeing our work!

The audience clapped, and then the host went to ask a few more questions to the others stars, before reaching Kyoko

Once all the other questions have been answered by her co-stars, Kyoko felt a tad bit nervous … knowing that she will be asked next

The host turned to Kyoko, and said: and now we reach you, Kyoko-san … we talked briefly before going on stage, and you have agreed to answer some questions regarding the news that has been shared over the past week or so … shall we get started?

Kyoko smiled kindly and said: yes, please go ahead!

The host: Let me start by asking, … is any of the news that came out true?!

Kyoko took a deep breath then answered carefully: Most of it is all lies, … there is a few bits and pieces that are true, but none of the articles that were shared paint a true picture of what really happened

The host: so, there is some truth to some of the news, but all of it together doesn't give an accurate statement

Kyoko nodded and said: To the news that came out today, it's all false, and it's complete nonsense! … it truly saddens me that some people can be vicious enough to spread hurtful lies like that … those lies don't only ruin people's reputation, but also can affect their livelihood

The host: That's true, today's accusations have gone too far, … I've heard that your side is pressing charges against the magazine!

Kyoko: Yes, … the news they kept spreading are full of lies, and they are hurtful to us, so we decided to do something about it, … because people shouldn't be able to spread hurtful lies without consequences … some effort was done in the background, but since they didn't stop, we decided to go ahead and sue for defamation

The host: Are you only suing the magazine, or are you going to try to put some effort to find the people behind it

Kyoko: we already know exactly know is spreading those lies … they are being dealt with privately

Surprised, the host asks: you know who's behind this?! … do you know why?!

Kyoko sighed, then answered: yes … we know who it is and why they're doing this, … that's doesn't make what they're doing right, or reasonable … things have been discussed privately prior to this happening, but it seems that person is unhappy, so they're doing this because perhaps they think it might change things one way or another

The host: I've watched a show yesterday, I believe … they analyzed what was happening and they seem to have concluded that this is some custody matter over yourself

Kyoko: I won't deny that, … it is partly because of that, however, due to the Japanese law as well as my current age, things didn't go well for the other side

The host: So, because your mother is a lawyer, things aren't going well for your paternal side?!

Kyoko: not exactly … The Japanese law itself doesn't grant that person custody, since I was born to a single mother, the custody automatically goes to her … Japanese law doesn't have a co-parenting system, so it is up to my mother to either keep me or give me away, and she choose to give me the choice in this matter … I have chosen her because she's the only parent who was present in my life growing up … there are other reasons, to be honest, however, they will be kept private, because I don't want anyone to be hurt

The host: how would that hurt?

Kyoko: some people will be directly impacted if I openly talked about my reasons and what really happened in the past … so to keep them out of this mess, I would prefer to keep some reasons private, such as names and some actions that were done long ago

The host: are you trying to protect your mother as well?

Kyoko: that's part of it since it's mainly her story, but it's also because I know how damaging things can be, and I don't want to be a person that hurts others, no matter what some may do to me!

The host: That's great! … it's very nice of you to think about the impact of what might be said and how it might hurt some, even if not intended!

Kyoko nodded with a calm smile on her face

The host: alright … I would like to ask something first, to get it out of the way, … the "Love Me" section, what does it mean to you personally? … We heard from your Agency LME that this section is for people who have potential but didn't pass the full audition due to some reasons, that will be addressed within the section's work!

Kyoko: that's true, … I didn't pass the audition, but the president saw that I might have potential and gave me a chance … we addressed the reason why I failed my audition and that helped me a lot personally … Frankly, it had to do with a fight I had with a friend, I put too much of my faith in them, but things were different in reality, … I was very lost and hurt at the time when I did the audition, and I wasn't thinking straight …

The host: is that friend, Sho Fuwa?

Kyoko looked at the host with little hesitation

The host added: you know, he went out today admitting that he was a terrible friend, who stabbed you in the back because he didn't value your friendship, … he reasoned that fame got to him and he was very rude … he regretted that personally, and apologized in his interview an hour ago

Kyoko nodded then said: I see, I appreciate it … I really do

The host: I believe the article that came on Monday said that you lived with his family, is that correct?

Kyoko: yes … I did stay with his family for a while growing up, I did spend most of my time with them growing up, and so we naturally grew close, as childhood friends, nothing more!

The host: it must be crazy, … the boy you grew up with, is now a famous guy! … how do you feel about that, as his childhood friend

Kyoko: growing up, I listened to him sing and practice his music, he always wanted to be a musician … I think he's very talented in that aspect, and I grew up being his fan … I knew he could make it, and I hope him all the best in his career and life!

The host: even despite the fight that broke your friendship?

Kyoko: Yeah, … I mean, we knew each other very well, and one fight shouldn't erase all traces of that … I still care about him in a way, … but I think that fight helped us both see things differently … it might seem off saying this, but in a way, I'm grateful that we fought then, … basically, things are meant to happen like that to teach us something

The host: are you aiming to be friends again?

Kyoko: I'm not sure, … I think a lot of healing is needed before I could be his friend like I was in the past … I think if we can talk honestly in the future, and get a better understanding of who we are now, we might be able to become friends again

The host: He surely hopes so too! … alright … since we're on the subject, I wonder how long did you stay with his family? … and when did it start?

Kyoko: I've known him since I was 2-3 … as far as I remember … I don't have any memory of the time before then … but we have known each other for a long time … I stayed with his family when my mother would go to work … and so I spent almost all my time with him and his family … when my mother left for Tokyo, I was around 7 years old and I stayed with them until I was 15

The host: oh, that's a long time … may I ask, why didn't your mother take you with her to Tokyo? … I mean, you're her only child, and a child usually needs their mother!

Kyoko: well, when you think about her position, it would make sense why she went to Tokyo alone … first, we lived in Kyoko, it was quite safe for me to walk alone from my home to Fuwa's home … while Tokyo is a huge city, the complete opposite of our hometown

The host: so, for safety concerns?

Kyoko: let me explain it this way, … for a single mother, who lived in Kyoto all her life, going to Tokyo would be a huge difference … first, we can think of the safety issue, it is safe in Japan in General, but bigger cities carry bigger risks, especially for a child who only lived in a small town … also, my mom worked long hours to provide for us, … and so leaving a child alone for long hours wouldn't be reasonable … I was much safer and had people around whenever she worked in Kyoto … Tokyo is also more expensive compared to Kyoto, so it made more sense that I stayed back in Kyoto

The host: that makes sense indeed, … but why his family, I mean, … what about your mother's family, couldn't you be left with her family?

Kyoko: My mother is an only child, and both her parents passed away while she was studying Law, so she had no family when she had me, and therefore I was entrusted with family friends

The host: Oh! … I'm sorry to hear that … when you say family friends, you're talking about your mother and her boss, Fuwa-san's uncle?

Kyoko: Yes, … he had introduced my mother to his family, … and he was the one who actually recommended that I remain with the Fuwa's when she moved to Tokyo

The host: Oh, so maybe he saw how you liked being with your friends and thought, it would be better if she stays here while your mother worked elsewhere?

Kyoko: more or less

The host: but, that makes me wonder, … what did you think about that, and don't you think you missed a lot of time with your own mother?! … I mean you both lived at different sides of the country

Kyoko: When I was young, I couldn't really understand why things happened that way, but, the more I think about it, the more I think it all made sense … sure I didn't stay with my mother, but I was well-cared for and it was more beneficial for me in the long run … I didn't have to move to a city where I knew no one, I didn't have to change schools, and I didn't have to be separated from the people I knew and loved spending time with … I also benefited from my stay because I learned a lot of life experiences, that I wouldn't have learned if I had moved to Tokyo

The host: like?

Kyoko: Cooking, sewing, and some of the traditional Japanese crafts, like the tea ceremony, Ikebana, among other things … Fuwa-san's father is a chef, and I spent a lot of time with him growing up, learning many cooking techniques like Katsura-muki

The host: Oh really, can you do that for real?!

Kyoko sheepishly answers: yes, … I haven't done it in a while, but the last time I tried was for my audition at LME

The host laughed along with the audience … she then asked: why would you do that for a showbiz audition?!

Kyoko: I was asked to perform something I'm skilled at, … and it was the only thing I could think of at that moment … I worked in a restaurant and I asked my boss if he could lend me his chef knife, and thanks to his help, I was able to perform it well … it did turn out more like a cabbage though, … as I was originally aiming for a rose

The host: Oh … that's interesting … so you worked normal jobs before entering showbiz?

Kyoko: Yes, I have done a few jobs, and I think that helped me learn about working hard to earn money and making a living

The host: very responsible! … ok, so going back to the time you lived with your mother, … this article claims that you have been physically abused, is that remotely true?!

Kyoko: No, … my mother never abused me physically … I don't know why someone would make that up … however, she was very strict with me growing up

The host: strict as in rules and curfews?

Kyoko: not really … it was mostly about my education and grades … frankly I think it's normal for some parents to have high expectations for their children and expect excellent grades

The host: that's true … many parents put their hope and dreams on their kids, but that can actually hurt the children sometimes, especially when they want to take a completely different path! … would you say that you met her expectations?

Kyoko smiled awkwardly, then answered: well, … growing up, I found it hard to fulfill those expectations, I guess they were hard to achieve … I was expected to get full marks on all my school quizzes, and I couldn't meet that

The host: oh … how bad were your grades?

Kyoko: they weren't bad, … I mean I got average grades I would say … I was always between 95- 86

The host: oh, that is actually good!

Kyoko: yes, but not good enough …

The host: and what would happen if you got such a grade?

Kyoko: she mainly yelled at me, … sometimes comparing our grades at the same age, … I often hid and cried because of that … however, that stopped when my mom moved to Tokyo, … she was given regular updates about me and my school grades, however, she never said anything about them

The host: so, you think she stopped hoping you would get the expected grades?

Kyoko: More like, we didn't really speak much since her departure, and my grades were updated through my caretaker, so I never got lectured about my grades since …

Concerned, the host asked: you didn't talk since her departure?!

Kyoko paused, then nodded, explaining: I guess you can say that, … we didn't get along when I was young, I was mostly lectured about grades … but when she moved, it only made our relationship awkward, … I didn't have the grades she desired, so I never made a call, and that slowly built a wall of silence between us …

The host: what about other times?!

Kyoko: well, I don't really have a memory of other times … she was at work most of her time, if not in her office preparing for work … we didn't spend too much time together, as I always spent my time with my childhood friend

The host: do you resent her for that?

Kyoko: No, I don't … it was sure hard grow-up and it stressed me out, but I wasn't unhappy, I was well-taken for and I'm thankful to her and everyone who helped at that time

The host: did you ever achieve those grades she wanted?

Kyoko: I did eventually achieve full marks since coming here to Tokyo

The host: oh really … what changed?!

Kyoko: mainly, the fact I didn't stress about my grades anymore … I have to thank Tsuraga-san for that actually, … I often over-studied so hard that I didn't sleep properly, and when I go to the exam, I felt completely exhausted ending up making the silliest mistakes

The host: oh, so you put so much pressure on yourself to get those full marks, you overdid it and that's the main reason you didn't achieve the grades you aimed for … but now I'm curious, how did Tsuraga-san help?!

Kyoko looked at Ren the looked down and said: he saw that I was pushing myself too much, and told me to just try my best, that I only needed an average to pass my entrance exam for high school here in Tokyo

The host looked at Ren and asked: so, you saw her at the agency and felt bad?!

Ren: No, … she was actually my substitute manager at the time, … she had to prepare for her entrance exams backstage while I worked, and so at some point, I thought she was going overboard, … she was studying as if her life was dependent on her getting full grades on every subject … so I just wondered why she was overworking herself and told her that an average grade will be enough, so she calmed down, … she did end up getting full marks on her entrance exam

The host: oh! … so maybe you just needed someone to tell you to do your best, and stop overworking yourself! … that's such great advice Tsuraga-san!

Ren smiled and nodded, then said: she was already doing so much for me as my substitute manager, and I was really thankful to her!

The host: so, she was multitasking … that's very impressive, I'm sure your schedule is always busy Tsuraga-san, … that must have been hectic, Kyoko-san?

Kyoko nodded then said: It was, I, however, was grateful for the opportunity, because I was able to see a true professional work … I learned a lot about that experience

The host: alright … let me ask you this, how does she view your chosen career

Kyoko: She supports me to do whatever I want to do, … she worked hard to achieve her current status as a lawyer, so she wants me to do the same, if I was passionate about acting, then I should do my best to get to where I want to be … I'm aware I'm still new and a beginner, but I will do my best to become a great actress!

The host: I think that you're already a great actress, … you sure will do amazing things in the future!

Kyoko smiled and said: Thank you

The host: Are you considering completing your education, like going to college?

Kyoko: I personally haven't decided on that yet … I will think about it carefully because I know how important an education can be!

The host: alright … since you denied that fact your mother abused you physically, … we can also consider that fact you believe in fairies also fake and untrue

Kyoko looked down for a second, but then she looked up and said: I do believe in fairies and magic, at least I used to until just recently … I have loved fairytales growing up, and that always cheered me up when I was down … I think fairytales help with the imagination aspect, and I think as an actress, it might come in handy one day

The host: oh really? … I mean, I don't think that believing in fairytales is crazy or a sign of mental illness, but it's sort of unusual for someone who's nearly 18 to believe in those things now?

Momose challenged: I don't think so! … I think it is totally normal for people to believe in whatever they want, it doesn't matter how old you are … some grown people believe in aliens and some believe in the apocalyptic happening, where Zombies attack the surviving people … to all their own, I might disagree with some, and might agree with others, but I think it's unfair to judge people on what they like or what they believe in!

The host: oh … that's true … I never thought of it that way

Momose: besides, I personally think that fairies are real, at least in our industry! … The father of Victory, Mr. D. talked about an immortal butterfly, a human being with transparent colorless wings! … A fairy! … someone who can keep transforming when given an existence called a role! …. I think we might have two on this stage, and I truly hope Mr. D finds about them soon!

The host: oh, I read about that a while ago … but who are we talking about?!

Momose: We have Tsuraga-san on hand, but … Kyoko is a stronger one in my opinion!

The host looks as shocked as the audience … they looked at Momose in Disbelief, some thinking that Kyoko is too new to the industry to be considered the "Fairy" Mr. D is talking about

Momose knew that some people would be skeptical, and so she offered proof saying: Does anyone know who plays Natsu from Box "R"?

The host: Oh …. I have watched some of that Drama, but I never figured out who played Natsu

Momose: well, she right over here (pointing to Kyoko)

One of the audience members shrieked loudly: Natsu is played by the same actress who played Mio?!

The host: I did hear that Mio's actress is the one playing Natsu … but it never registered in my mind that it was Kyoko! … I'm so sorry!

Kyoko: that's ok!

Momose: It was announced and was hyped up using her role as Mio … but people still find it hard to believe that she played both because when you look at her on a normal day, you don't see either … but at the same time, when I was on Set, and I saw Mio, I had a hard time seeing her as both and the same … because Kyoko is the complete opposite to her roles

The host: so, does that happen in the new project your both are working on?

Momose: Actually, sometimes when she transforms into her character, I get mixed up, … sometime I start calling her by her character's name, … I've also heard from Amamiya-san that when Kyoko is Natsu on set, people called her Natsu, because of how she gave life to her character that Kyoko herself disappeared … it was similar to Tsuraga-san because when He became Katsuki, Tsuraga-san disappeared completely … if you didn't know him prior, you would think he's a completely different guy!

The host: That's very interesting … thank you for sharing Momose-san! … I guess I should also believe in the Showbiz Fairies after all!

The crowd clapped and cheered for their showbiz fairies

The host: alright … now that we got those topics out of the way, I would like to ask a few more questions … specifically about how you grew up and what you thought about your own family dynamic

Kyoko: as in?

The host: like, … have you questioned your mother where was your father?

Kyoko: I don't really remember doing so, … maybe I did, but I have no memory of it

The host: have you wondered where he was?

Kyoko: I don't quite remember if I wondered about it, … I knew I was a little different than my childhood friend, as he had both parents and I only had my mother

The host: were you told he was deceased? … by her or other grown-ups?

Kyoko: No, my mother has always been honest with me when it comes to topics like that, … I never really considered that person dead, because when someone died, people would have an in-home shrine for them, and we never had that, we didn't go to the cemetery either … some people assumed he died, and that was reasonable at that time, … he could've died at any moment, but now I know he's alive and well …

The host: who are those people?

Kyoko: like preschool teacher … I used to stay in school until my mom could come to get me, and so one time a caretaker asked if my father was dead, which is why he's never there … Also, my classmates assumed he's dead because I never talked about him

The host: your friends must have been confused about that!

Kyoko awkwardly laughed and said: not really, … my only friend was Fuwa-san, and he already knew about that matter

The host: wait, Fuwa-san was your only friend when your mother was around?

Kyoko corrected proudly: he was my only friend until I came to Tokyo … but here I met more people and became good friends with Kotonami-san, Amamiya-san, and Momose-san … as well as my classmates from school!

The host: wait … so until you finished middle school, you had no other friends?!

Kyoko: yeah … (she looked away for a moment) then said: In school, yes!

Confused, The host: why?!

Kyoko: well, Fuwa-san was very popular back then, and some people didn't like that we were close, or that we came to school together … so I was outcasted

The host: oh … and what did Fuwa-san do?! … were you bullied?

Kyoko: I was, but … I don't think anyone wanted to be seen bullying me for that, so they never did anything in his presence … we were in different classes in middle school too

The host: I see … so because some people feared being seen hurting you, he would get upset and blacklist them as a popular guy?

Kyoko: I guess …

The host: I see … that must have been tough

Kyoko: it's ok … it wasn't too bad! … from doing Natsu, I learned how terrible people can be … it was truly challenging to play Natsu because I couldn't use my own experience for it

The host: because Natsu is the bully and not the victim?

Kyoko: no, … because the bullying I faced is nothing compared to the scenes we filmed … it was scary because as Natsu I had to enjoy doing & watching those events unfold, but deep down as Kyoko I knew how terrible it is to do that

The host: It must have been very conflicting

Kyoko: It was!

The host: I see … so going back to our topic, … you said that you never considered him dead, but then, what did you think growing up?

Kyoko: He wasn't in the picture, just that

The host: you never wondered about him, like what he looked like, what was he like, his job?

Kyoko: I didn't think about it too much, …my mother never really mentioned him growing up, so asking those things felt wrong … perhaps I was too afraid to ask or hear the answers

The host: but didn't you feel like you were missing something?

Kyoko: not really, … I sure had my mother, but also Fuwa-sans parents were great mentors and they took care of me and taught me many things … I'm forever grateful for everything they've done for me

The host: they sound like great parents … you must have felt a sibling feeling towards Fuwa-san then?

Kyoko looked baffled by that so she asked: why?! … I never considered him as such? … Sure Fuwa-san parents were great to me, but I never considered them as my foster family, I knew who my mother is and I knew who they were to me … I never confused those facts

The host: I see … even a baby knows who their mother is … let's see, (she looked at her cards) then said: now, … I guess we can move to the next question

Kyoko nodded and waited to hear the question

The host: were you told anything about your father, at all?! … and if not, why?

Kyoko: Nothing, as far as I remember … as to why, … I'm not really sure what she would have told me then … I mean, what could have she told about him?! … I think it was great she didn't say anything, because there was nothing good to say … and frankly 6-year-old me wouldn't have understood the complicated nature of the situation, anyway

The host: So, did you ever learn why your father was never in the picture

Kyoko: Yes, … I sat with my mother a while ago and asked her many of the questions I always wanted to ask … as I grew older I always wondered about different things, about why things turned in one way or another, and at some point, we sat down and talked those things, which included the events concerning that person

The host: that person as in, your father

Kyoko: yes, but I prefer not to call him that

The host: why?!

Kyoko: it's just he wasn't there in that capacity, and therefore I have no reason to consider him one

The host: So, you know who he is, and where he was, and why he left?

Kyoko: I do now, … when I had that discussion with my mother, we both didn't know where he was, among other things… but things changed over time

The host: as in he came back and you learned more from him?

Kyoko: I've only heard more because I made a conscious decision to not have a relationship with them, so we never really met officially, and I personally prefer that

The host: oh really, so it's fair to say your mother met them and heard why they left?

Kyoko: I guess you can

The host: is it also fair to assume that he left because he didn't want to take responsibility for you?

Kyoko: no, … it's true that he didn't know about me before recently, … but that's because my mother wasn't aware of the pregnancy until after he left

The host: oh, … so he left sometime when she was pregnant, and your mother choose not to tell him because he left?

Kyoko: Not exactly, … he left her no way to contact him, so even if she wanted to tell him, she couldn't … he made the choice to leave and cut her off, for his own reasons, … so he didn't learn about me until he came and saw us together

The host: I see! … so, he saw that your mother had a child, so he asked her about you?

Kyoko: I don't know the details about their meeting … and I think I would rather keep that private anyways

The host: I see …. I'm a little curious, however, are you the only child for both your parents?

Kyoko: I'm my mother's only child … while that person has his own family

The host: so, He's a married man!

Kyoko: I'm not sure how I should answer this … I never really got permission to share information about him and his family, so I won't dive into that, I hope you can understand

The host: I do … that's completely reasonable … alright, for the next question, it might be a bit sensitive and I understand if you can't truly answer it, … but since it was viewed recently and there are huge question marks about it, I hope you don't mind me asking it

Kyoko: go ahead, I'll try my best to answer if I can

The host: I'd like to ask why your mother came out and said "I don't have any children"?
