A scream left her lips, pushing her head out of the water. While on her way up she hit her head, once she could see again she noticed it was a log. Why does this place have an indoor garden with a two feet deep lake pond thing? With a log?
"Why did you do that?" He was walking away. He had shoved Amari in and left. As he was leaving, the red girl was coming back. She didn't seem to care about the soaking woman, who was mad, right in front of her.
"Stand on the log." Amari stood up, but refused to stand on it. The red girl walked into the pond thing, weird considering she was wearing boots, and stood up on the log. Her boots were heeled, yet she had perfect balance. She wasn't wobbling or shaking, it was like she was standing on sturdy ground. "Your turn."
"Why?" The red girl just stepped back into the water, jerking her head to the log. She was clearly not in an 'answering your questions' kind of mood. Amari couldn't get on the log. Every time she tried she fell back in the water. Her first time wearing new clothes and they were already soaked.
The red girl grabbed Amari's arm, stopping her from trying again. Amari groaned to complain, only to turn and see another stranger. Where had he come from? He was a blind man, with a black beard cut short. His eyebrows were white and wispy. His black buzzed cut hair matched his black clothes. He held a brown walking stick that was almost his height.
When he talked, his lips barely moved. All his vowels made the same shape, sometimes his mouth would open a little extra for certain sounds, and you could see his tongue. Only a little though. This is all to say, Amari couldn't understand what he was saying.
The red girl knew though, and bowed down to him. Amari just watched, very confused and wondering what would happen next. The girl in red turned to look at Amari. 'Did you read the paperwork?' No. Amari most certainly did not.
The red girl turned fully to Amari, 'Do you have any idea what's going on?' The answer was never given, but the red girl got the hint. She rolled her eyes, and said that they were done for the day. She led the way back to the bedroom, then showed Amari a door she hadn't noticed before. It was a bathroom.
'Shower and read the papers. Don't come back until you've read all of it.' Amari didn't bother explaining how that would be a difficult feat. Amari showered, the water was cold. So now Amari was certain that she was going to get sick. There were no clothes in the bathroom, which was now entirely wet, but she did find something in the closet.
Amari had been shoved into this room and left alone. It's right to assume that this is all her's. Turning towards the desk, Amari decided to try reading the papers. She looked at, finding words that she knew. She found her name, words relating to die, Azouh. That was mostly it. Not including the easy words like 'a, the, who, am'. Azouh, the virus. They mentioned something about the virus before.
Amari had no idea what that had to do with her. Or the shot, what was the point of the shot? Amari gave up, she didn't know what was going on and probably wouldn't know for a while. This confusion lasted for five days.
For five days the red girl, who finally introduced herself as Jinx, would train Amari. That's what it felt like anyway. There was never an actually explanation of what was going on, Amari just assumed so. There was so much physical activity, and overall forcing Amari to do weight lifting, there was nothing else it could be.
Day six was when the trend finally ended. The black masked guy came back. He was carrying a black box in his hand, which he handed to Amari. When Amari asked what it was, he grabbed it and opened it. Amari didn't know what the two small things were. He sighed, seeing as his chest slowly rose up and then deflated.
He tried to say what it was by signing, but they were words Amari had never seen. She assumed it had to do with her ears. He shook his head, then pulled out one. Amari was made to hold the box as he lifted the weird thing. Jinx came up, holding Amari still.
She broke into a panic, what where they doing to her? Expecting the worst, she fought. That did not sit well with either of them. After tying up Amari, which she was beginning to hate, Jinx held Amari's head still. The black masked man put the weird things in both her ears.
Amari was trying to fight them off, but her ears started ringing. It hurt. Amari's ears didn't ring often, but she had experienced it before. Now was so much worse than anything she had ever experienced. Then there was a yell for her to stop.
A yell.
Amari had heard a yell.
That made her stop. Her eyes widened, and she felt her throat clog up. She opened her mouth, making a random sound. She heard it. She turned her head, side to side and examining the room. She looked at the masked man, who was standing in front of her. She turned her head to Jinx, who was walking around to stand beside next to the man.
Is that what walking sounds like? Amari had forgotten. They asked her a question. Amari recognized the sounds and knew what they were saying, but for some reason she just couldn't comprehend it. They decided to sign it out for me.
'How does it feel?'
Amari gulped, feeling her breathing getting shorter. "Take it out." She begged, several times. The man reached over and pulled out.
