[Thoughts]

{Flashback}

Sheriff Swan entered the room. He smiled reassuringly at Mike. Mike tried to smile back but he had failed. Luckily the sheriff ignored it. In truth he wasn't in such a happy mood after talking to his parents. Despite the fact the man confessed he still needed Mike's statement.

"Good afternoon Mr. Newton." He greeted.

"Afternoon."

"I need to ask you a few questions."

"Okay."

"Do you remember who did this to you?" He asked.

"M-my father." Mike answered.

"Do you know why?"

"Told him I might like guys as well as girls." He told the sheriff emotionlessly. "He didn't like that."

"It was after you told him that he beat you?"

"No. After I told him he s-smacked me and told me that I couldn't like guys."

"What happened after?"

"After that he st-started yelling at me and b-beating me up. I managed to p-push him o-off of me and ran. I was in so mu-much pain but I think I-I ran into Dean Dumbledore." Mike said. His memory was still hazy after he left the house.

"Do you remember what happened during that time?" Charlie asked the next question.

"Some. He asked m-me who did it. I believe that I t-told him that it was my d-d-dad. I blacked out and I woke up here."

"I see. This is very useful. I hope you get better."

"Thank you Sheriff Swan."

The man nodded and left. The rest came back into the room. Dean sat next to Mike.

"Are you in any pain?" Dean asked.

"No." Mike answered truthfully.

"Good." Dean smiled at him.

Mike looked away. "I guess."

[Note to self: Have Harry talk to him.] Dean thought.

"It is indeed dear boy." Albus said to Mike kindly.

"Huh?"

"It is good you aren't in any physical pain." The wizard said.

"Yeah I guess."

"Hey quick question." Mike turned and looked at Dean. "What is your favorite color?"

"What?"

"The others want to know your favorite color so they can do up your new room." Dean told him.

"Oh?" Mike asked in confusion.

"What's the matter?" Dean asked.

"New room?"

"We told you that you would stay with us, remember?" Ron asked.

"I know."

"You didn't believe us though." Now Dean looked confused.

"Not really. I don't even know you." Mike said.

"Good point." Albus agreed.

"Yes he does."

"Not like we can go against Harry." Ron said with a shiver.

Dean snorted. "Not if we want to go home."

Albus agreed. "So true."

Dean looked at the ruffled human teenager next to him. "So favorite color?"

"It's blue."

He texted Luna. "Alright done."

"Are you all serious?"

"Very." Dean said.

"Yeah." Ron said.

"Why?"

"Why what?" Dean asked.

"Why would you let me live with you? Why do you want me to live with you?" Mike asked in confusion.

"You need a home." Dean said.

"That can't be it." Mike argued.

"It's not but it's not our story to tell nor is it only my secret." Dean said.

"Oh."

"You can say no but I warn you now Harry is a person that can make it impossible to say no to." Dean admitted.

"So true." Ron said with a fond grin.

"Indeed it is." Albus agreed as he too had a fond smile on his face.

"One flash of those emerald green eyes." Dean began.

Ron continued. "Filled with sympathy and sincerity. You find yourself agreeing to whatever he asks."

"Best part is he doesn't even realize that he is doing it." Dean chuckled.

"He would be lethal if he did!" Ron snickered.

"He already is lethal." Albus muttered.

Dean and Ron laughed. Both of them were remembering different times Harry used his eyes at Albus unknowingly. Albus pouted at them.

"Now boys, it isn't nice to laugh at your grandpa." He said trying to look disapproving and disappointed.

"We know but…." Ron began.

"We just can't help it." Dean continued with a smirk.

"Harry makes it very amusing." They said together.

"Brats." Albus glared at them as his pout deepened.

"Your point being?" Dean raises an eyebrow.

"I think that was his point." Ron whispered loudly.

Mike started to laugh at them. Dean grinned proudly. He made his mate laugh. Ron and Albus gave him an amused glance.

"Shut up!" Dean hissed low enough that Mike couldn't hear him.

[It's more fun not to.] Ron said in Dean's head.

"Thanks." Mike said suddenly.

"Huh?" Albus looked at him.

"What?" Dean asked in confusion.

"Excuse me?"

"Thanks for what?" All three asked together.

"Thank you for helping me. I mean it thank you." Mike said.

"It really isn't that big of a deal." Dean replied in embarrassment.

"It is. You all are going above and beyond. Most people wouldn't take a stranger in even one who was beaten by their father." He said.

"Damn he's smart." Ron muttered.

"Not really." Mike blushed.

They were reminded of Harry when he said that. Dean tried to focus on that because he found Mike's blushing to be very arousing. He quickly crossed legs to hide any evidence of that though. Unfortunately for him, Ron smelled it and sent a smirk his brother's way. Dean flipped him off.

"Don't sell yourself short, young man." Albus went over to him. "Now you bring up many good valid points. That makes you smart."

Mike's blush deepened. "I guess."

"Albus?" They turn to see Carlisle.

"Yes Carlisle?"

"I need to speak with you real quick."

"Ah of course."

He stood and made his way over to Carlisle. Carlisle gave Mike a smile before he turned towards Albus. He spoke in a low tone of voice so that Mike couldn't hear him.

"His mother refuses to come. She is on her husband's side. His uncle died a couple years ago and he has no other family. Visiting hours will be over soon." He quickly said.

"I see." The elderly wizard frowned.

"The night nurses will let you stay the night. Only you though." He said.

"Are you going to tell him about his mom?" Albus asked as he ran his fingers through his beard.

"No Sheriff Swan is going to be the one who is going to do it. Edward happened to catch his train of thought and sent me a quick text and I thought to let you guys know." Carlisle said.

"Hello again Carlisle, Mr Dumbledore." Charlie Swan greeted.

"Oh hello Sheriff Swan."

"Hello Charlie."

"I have some news for Mike Newton. Could you all please go outside?" He said.

"Of course." Albums said.

"Yes." Ron shrugged.

"Not a problem." Dean said as he stood up.

"Thank you all."

Albus quickly left the room and the others followed. Carlisle went to check on his other patients. Dean listened in so that he could help in any way he could when he returned. The sheriff sighed and sat down near the bed. Mike wondered what it could be. The sheriff looked so sad.
