Also, sorry if you got several notices about this chapter being uploaded. Fanfic is being super weird for me.

"I have something for you."

"You do?" she asks.

He nervously rubs the back of his neck with his hand. "I didn't want to give it to you in front of everyone else."

"Okay," she hesitantly replies.

He gives her a quick smile and then disappears around the corner. He returns with a large flat box, which he places in her hands. "Open it."

She does, and the first thing she sees inside is a note attached to a bunch of blue tissue paper.

I thought it was time you had your own.

She pulls back the tissue paper, and instantly her heart stutters inside of her chest. Did this mean what she thought it did?

"I guessed on the size," Jimmy says quietly.

She looks up at him. He's grinning at her. There's an authentic look of nervous hope in his eyes. He's fidgeting with his fingers, and there's a soft blush on his cheeks. It's all too much.

She puts the box down.

"Don't you like-" but he doesn't get to finish because she grabs his collar and kisses him. His lips are soft under hers, and warmth spools down her spine like sweet golden honey. At that moment, she is Special Girl without the dangerous radiation. She could lift a car or fly to Saturn and dance on its rings. He brushes his hand against hers tentatively, and she interlaces their fingers. A flush rises into her cheeks. She pulls away, and for a moment, neither of them says anything.

Then Jimmy clears his throat and shakes his head as if clearing cobwebs from it. "Are you going to try it on?"

She pulls it over her arms. It's a deep green, and it has the Neutron insignia on the pockets. The fabric is soft against her skin. She can feel herself grinning; no, she is beaming.

"It looks good on you," he adds proudly.

Her cheeks are starting to hurt from all the smiling she's doing, but she doesn't care.

Because Jimmy gave her a lab coat.
