I know I wrote things like this already. I just watched this episode the other day, and I had a hard time thinking Libby didn't give Cindy a hard time about it. I don't own THAT.
"Are we gonna talk about what happened back there?" Libby asks as the girls walk down the sidewalk together.
"Well, we helped stop Jet from killing Jimmy and-"
"You know that's not what I'm talkin' about."
Cindy feels a blush creep onto her cheeks. "Oh?"
Libby sighs. "Fine, if you're gonna make me say it, I'll say it. You were totally trippin' over Jimmy in that suit."
Cindy buries her hands in her pockets. Her best friend had once again hit the nail on the head. Seeing Jimmy in that suit made her feel giddy and queasy at the same time. As if she'd taken the Bat Out of Heck one too many times. "It surprised me that a nerd like Neutron could look that good, that's all."
Libby stops abruptly. "Did you admit out loud that you think Jimmy is cute?"
"In the suit! That doesn't mean anything. It's like an eclipse. It's pretty, but it doesn't happen often."
"Don't they happen a lot?"
"Not that much! Besides, it was a metaphor!"
"You aren't foolin' me. You've got it bad for him."
"That is not true!"
"Mhmm," Libby crosses her arms over her chest, and a smirk pulls at the corner of her mouth.
"Why are you interrogating me anyway?"
"You called Neutron a hunk muffin. I was right there, Cind, I heard it."
The blush on Cindy's cheeks is growing deeper by the second. She knew she'd said it. She hadn't known Libby had noticed. Or maybe she hoped she hadn't. "It was the suit," with that, she turns and walks on, ignoring her friend's sigh of frustration behind her.
She fumes at her past self. She might as well have come out with a confession right there. Thankfully, Jimmy remained clueless as ever, and she would go back to pretending to hate him.
But as warmth wriggles in the pit of her stomach, she can't help think she likes the feeling.
