"The heck? Why are a bunch of kids here still?" Irish asked looking at the kids and particularly Sherry. Why was his honorary baby sister here? And looking like a pipsqueak?

"We got off of an elevator to make room for another lady and her baby. We were also looking for another member of our group, Conan!" Ayumi said without hesitation and beaming up at the man.

"Alright well…let's get the heck out of here yeah?" Irish asked and the look he shot Haibara nearly screamed that they would talk later.

"Okay! We're heading to the bridge that connects us to the other tower!" Mitsuhiko said brightly, making Irish nod once as he felt around for the flashlight he had with him.

"Okay then. Let's get moving squirts." Irish said leading the way towards the bridge and making a mental note to call Gin and ask what the hell was going on. Because this was not part of the mission at all.

"Okay!" The kids said cheerfully as Ayumi took one of Irish's large hands in her own tiny ones to walk alongside him. He shot her a look of disbelief but didn't say anything as he let the girl hold his hand. Where the hell was Curacao? Was the gRg-oil caught or killed while he was unconscious?

Making their way to the bridges the kids were blissfully unaware of what was happening and the fact that they were being accompanied by someone who was essentially an alien cop.

"Nii-chan I see the gRg-oil! It's right under the lower bridge!" Curacao was reporting to her brother from the twentieth floor.

"Alright. I'll blow them." Gin said and he pressed a button which set off explosions on the 84 floor bridge. That caused the upper bridge to collapse and fall into the lower one, squishing the stunned and dazed gRg-oil between the two bridges and then onto the ground. Given the hard stone-like skin of the species, which looked remarkably like the European gargoyle statues only much bigger, it was likely that it didn't actually kill the blasted thing and only kept it trapped and unconscious as well as injured.

"Over kill much Onii-chan?" Curacao asked with a small whistle as she looked at the damage the bombs and falling bridges had caused.

"No such thing. There's only, I'm out of ammo and I need to reload." Gin quipped back to her without missing a beat, making her snort slightly at that.

"Whatever you say nii-chan. I need to go find Irish now. He's been out of contact for almost an hour now and I'm getting worried." Curacao said making Gin wince, yeah he could understand her worry. After all this was Irish's first field assignment since Pisco's death and subsequent pyre. For him to go out of contact for an hour…

"Find him but stay safe Kleine. The buildings probably aren't going to last much longer despite the fire having only been in a few rooms." Gin said making his sister scowl slightly.

"Stop calling me-" click, "Kleine! You hung up on me you coward!" Curacao was scowling at her phone when her brother hung up on her halfway through her sentence. The coward.

"If this wasn't my last field assignment for a while nii-chan I'd go over to your sniper roost and kick your half-german ass!" Curacao grumbled angrily to herself, completely unaware of the eyes watching her as she began to ascend the stairs to go and search for Irish.

Another gRg-oil was scowling and snarling quietly as it watched the silver haired agent leave. That was his sister they had just crushed! Oh he'd have to bide his time he knew but he would have his revenge on the silver haired woman and her brother.

"I swear I'm going to give him a black eye and a broken nose." Irish growled when he had managed to yank the kids back and shield them from any debris or glass after the bridge had been blown to bits.

"Kick his ass for me too because if you don't I will." Sherry growled back at him under her breath from where she was holding onto his neck with her small arms.

"You got it little sis." Irish muttered to her while he and the kids moved over to a bench beside the now destroyed bridge.

"I guess now we just sit here and wait to be rescued." Mitsuhiko said sighing heavily.

It was true, they could see firefighters and other rescue operatives on the other side of the bridge but they had no way to be able to reach them. Not even Irish had any ideas of what could be done to get them across, at least none that would work while he had kids with him.

"I'm really going to kick his ass the next time I see him." Irish mumbled under his breath…and then blinked when he realized that he still had his cell phone on him and it wasn't broken.

"Let me call a few friends of mine and see what I can do to help get us out of here." Irish said sheepishly smiling at the kids when they all gave him flat looks as he pulled his cell phone out of his pockets.

"No wonder you're blond." Sherry muttered into his ear without mercy and making him give her a sheepish guilty smile.

"Where are you? I'm at the 84th floor in front of what used to be the bridge…what? You're kidding me…I swear to god that I will kick his ass when I get out of here. No, no you go ahead and get out of the building. Try to see if we can get a helicopter or something here. I've got four kids with me that were just being nice when they got off the elevator. Yeah…no…don't you dare. I know how you get with kids. No you get out of here and call your brother. Yeah…Yeah we'll wait for any further advice or orders. Yeah…whatever. See you later." Irish said sighing and hanging up after talking with someone for a few minutes.

"Alright. That was a friend of mine that I work with. She was down on floor 20 looking for me. Her brother works for the government and they'll try to find a way to get us out of this. For now we have to wait here." Irish relayed to the kids who nodded and settled in. Genta sat down beside Irish and leaned into the taller man who looked surprised.

Mitsuhiko sat on Irish's other side and leaned into the man as well while Ayumi perched herself on his knee without wasting a second and Haibara was already being held in one of Irish's large arms, cradling her as she kept her arms around his neck.

Irish stared down at the kids confused and surprised but then gave a small smirk and relaxed. They were going to be here for a little while at least, might as well get comfortable. The kids sure were.

It's been a while since he was used as a cuddle buddy or pillow.
