Men in Black and DC crossover

(A/N: I own nothing read last chapter and Velgamidragon's We Are the Men in Black.)

Vodka was sure that if his life were an anime then not only would it have been a crappy one for the first half of his life…but also that there would be a record scratching sound effect right then as those words processed in his mind.

"Vermouth…you…grandmother!?" Vodka gaped at his girlfriend who gently pushed on the bottom of his chin and closed his mouth for him.

"Yes. She's my dad's mother…I…don't know if she knows who exactly he was to her though or if she knows about me and Ei-chan. Grandpa told me that as soon as dad was born and weaned, Vermouth handed him off to Jiji and then refused to acknowledge the baby as hers or have anything to do with him. In fact she never even named dad, Jiji did that. I don't know if she knew that Ethan Hondou was her son and that Eisuke and I are her grandkids, like I said if things had been different then you probably would have already known…but…" Hidemi trailed off slightly at that point while Vodka was staring at her in shock and disbelief again.

"Holy shit…" Vodka trailed off at that and couldn't seem to think of anything else to say other than that.

"Yeah. Like I said, Gin does not learn this information at all and neither does Vermouth. God it was awkward as fuck when I learned that my grandmother had slept with a guy just a year older than me. Can you imagine how Gin would react?" Kir asked and Vodka nodded dazedly. His thoughts had gone somewhere else though.

Hidemi had repeatedly mentioned that that person was involved or knew about it and had talked about her grandfather before….and it was obvious that despite how she lived a modest life style she had come from a wealthy family. He hadn't put the pieces together before but it was clicking into his mind all of those little quirks or clues he had noticed.

She hated to eat alone, especially if someone had cooked for her, how often was she used to being cooked for but eating alone if she was used to it and detested it? She knew how to ballroom dance flawlessly, and was able to dress up in fancy or expensive clothing with ease. That broach she had worn last night with her black sequin dress…they had both been gifts from her grandfather shortly after she had been codenamed and recovered from torture. Her grandfather knew of the MiB for sure then, but Vodka had looked up the stone on the broach out of curiosity and looking for ideas on what kind of stone she might like in an engagement ring.

A throwaway comment from Hidemi on it being a black opal had set him on the right path and he had been blown away to learn how much those things cost per carat, and she was casually wearing more than a few carats around her neck! Not to mention those earrings she had gotten for her birthday last year from her grandfather. He had looked it up and the card attached to the box, under the cushioning where most would not look, said that they were Jadeite and each earring was a full carat…

Jadeites sold for at least 3 million per carat!

God, he had thought that they were just cheap knock offs or maybe that they were just a similar looking gemstone…but holy shit this made a lot more sense.

Not just that but even without the three paychecks she collected from her different jobs she always had plenty of money for random little things that added up over time, and she was a master of balancing a budget.

Her family came from money that was for sure, and she knew it too and was used to it and holy shit how could he still be the one she loved when he was poor and couldn't afford the lifestyle she knew!? Alongside that however. She mentioned her grandfather and their boss both knew of this and it was obvious that her grandfather was loaded and if he knew of the MiB as well as was that close to Vermouth then…

"So…your grandfather is…Vermouth and…" Vodka was struggling to make full sentences at the moment, but the question and sentiment seemed to be clear.

"Everyone knows that she's his favorite, or at least that's what he pretends. To be honest he's said that I'm actually his favorite but he's heavily biased, even though he doesn't act like it at work and we try to keep our relationship a secret from everyone." Kir said with a small shrug as though it wasn't important although she did have a sheepish smile. It was very important after all.

"So that's why he suddenly started glaring at me and made sure I knew he was still a master with his sword when we started dating!" Vodka said that piece finally clicking into his brain and causing Kir to blink at him completely thrown.

"Huh?!" She asked looking confused by that part.

"Just after we started dating he began glaring at me anytime he saw me. At the time I thought it was because he might have thought I was taking advantage of you while you were vulnerable. About a month after we started dating I was working out in the gym when he came in and went through a set of katas with his sword…he turned on the holograph feature and made sure to look me in the eye whenever he struck them down." Vodka said shivering, he remembered being awed and scared and wondered what the hell he had done to piss off the boss that badly…looks like he knew now.

"I swear to god that man…I'm sorry about him. He was overprotective when I was younger but after what happened to dad…he's worse now than he ever has been." Kir said sighing and shaking her head, the worst part was that she absolutely believed it without hesitation just because this wasn't the first time she's heard of him being very overprotective.

"He was just looking out for you. I can't fault him for that. I mean when we have a daughter or granddaughter that went through what you did and then started dating one of the ones who helped her I'd probably just confront them outright and scare them off rather than being all vague and mysterious about it." Vodka said and Kir's eyes shot to him as they widened a bit and she blushed slightly.

"There you go again…" Hidemi voiced softly as she stared at him and he looked at her confused.

"There I go what?" Vodka asked wondering about her sudden shift in demeanor.

"That's the second time you've mentioned something about kids in the future…yesterday when we were in the car with Gin and Sherry you mentioned wanting a family with me one day…and just now…you said that when we have a daughter…not if. You're…already planning for us to have kids Koji?" Hidemi asked staring at him and he blushed as he realized his slip of the tongues.

"I…uh…yeah…I've been thinking about us settling down and getting married, having a few kids if you wanted us to…" Vodka said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment.

"I do." Kir said still staring at him in shock and amazement.

"You…you do?" Vodka asked thrown by that and making Kir blush brighter but smile shyly up at him, he hadn't seen her smile shyly like that in over a year now. He had forgotten how cute it looked on her, then again she always looked cute.

"I…I mean…I've already said that I'd say yes if you asked me to marry you, if you did it right now I'd say yes…and…and I do want kids someday." Kir said blushing even brighter and making Vodka blush but grin widely.

"I'm not going to ask you right. I'm going to wait until I have the perfect ring for you and then ask whenever I find an appropriately romantic way to do it. Although the ring probably won't be as fancy as your other jewelry." Vodka said and he winced at the end. There was no way he could afford to give her a black opal ring or anything that expensive, much less the jadeite! He hoped she didn't mind that the ring wouldn't be as fancy or flashy as her other pieces of jewelry.

"I don't want it to be that fancy or expensive. I'd be happy with just a simple ring to prove that we're going to get married…that we'd be together for the rest of our lives." Hidemi assured him and making him smile slightly at that.

"Well of course I'm going to make sure it's at least a little fancy, it's for the woman I love more than anyone or anything else in the galaxy after all." Vodka said smiling brightly at Hidemi who blushed again.

"You adorable romantic dork." Hidemi said kissing Vodka again and making him grin as he kissed her back.

He'd have to redouble his efforts to find the perfect ring for her but for now…he was happy with just knowing some more about his beautiful girlfriend.

He really should have expected the evil eyed glare that Karasuma gave him for hours when he and Kir finally made it into work and Vodka had a hickey peeking out past his shirt collar while Kir had a few hickeys on her neck that she had failed to cover up.

Well…at least now he knew why Karasuma had it out for him instead of being in the dark like before.
