Men in Black and DC crossover

(A/N: I own nothing read last chapter and read Velgamidragon's We Are the Men in Black.)

Kir sighed as she got ready to put her part of the plan into action. She had already used the suggestive part of the neuralyzer on Yoko-chan in order to let her know about the doorbell ringer, who she knew her grandfather had already investigated thank you very much, and make it seem like Kir was scared or at least uneasy bout it. No not Kir, Rena. She had to remember that Rena wasn't the same as Kir, her different sides were all different parts of herself and that's why they had different names regardless of codenames and all.

Now she was getting ready for work and getting ready to meet Kogoro Mouri in the person along with his daughter and the little man of the mission. Kudo-kun, although she supposed she should call him Conan-kun or Edogawa-kun since she wasn't supposed to know he was Kudo.

"Good luck today sweetheart." Vodka, no in her apartment he wasn't Vodka he was just Koji, said kissing her on the cheek as he also got dressed and ready for work. They had moved in together after all but he had to be very careful when leaving or visiting her apartment recently due to the FBI agents she knew were spying on her after she had been spotted repeatedly going to and from Araide's office while 'he' was actually Vermouth in disguise.

"You too dear." Hidemi said smiling as she kissed his cheek back and he smiled at her with his usual goofy grin that she loved. She was glad he was smiling right now, he had been worried when she had mentioned being more fatigued than normal and how lightheaded and nauseous she was these past few days. She understood his worry though, she was a bit worried about coming down with a sickness just before a big assignment like this herself. After all her part was so meticulously planned out by herself and Gin that if she got sick and couldn't do the mission then there was no way they could scrap it in time or slip someone else into her role without there being a huge disconnect that Kudo would notice if he was as sharp as Gin believed him to be.

And she knew that Gin wasn't likely to exaggerate someone's brilliance so they had to get this done perfectly in order to make it go off without Kudo finding out the truth of the Organization.

"Remember. Wait twenty minutes for the FBI to tail me before you decide to leave. Just to be on the safe side. I don't want them doing anything to my giant teddy bear." Hidemi said smiling at Koji who blushed at her petname for him and nodded his head even as he slipped his glasses on over those big blue eyes that she loved.

"Will do. Be careful baby. I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you. You're my life and soul." Koji said softly as he pressed a kiss to her lips quickly and gently and now it was her turn to blush.

"You are such a sweet sap Koji. One day I'm going to get cavities from you." Hidemi murmured back with a small shy smile as he grinned at her and gave her another quick kiss on the lips.

"Better get going or else you're going to be late." Koji said and Hidemi glanced at the clock and winced, she'd have to speed a little bit but thankfully the FBI couldn't pull her over and arrest her for that. They were far outside of their jurisdiction after all.

"Love you dear. See you tonight when I get off work." Rena said kissing his cheek and then quickly hurrying out the door and making sure she locked it behind her.

Rushing down the stairs, although not too fast or ungracefully after all she had a reputation and it wouldn't do to lose it because she had been hurrying too much, Rena slid into the driver side of her car and started it up. Adjusting her mirror slightly before she left, Rena spotted the FBI woman that had been tailing her and who seemed to have some kind of obsession with them.

Huh wasn't that the lady whose car Vermouth had stolen during the dock incident where she had several broken ribs and a gunshot to the thigh? She wondered if the blond was still holding a grudge over that.

Answering her work cell, her MiB and CIA one not her news station one, and putting it on speaker as she drove off Rena smiled when she heard her grandfathers voice come across the line.

"Are you ready for your first Black Organization mission my dear?" Her grandpa asked and Rena chuckled a bit.

"Yes sir. Honestly this is much better than my first CIA mission." Rena said and that was so true it wasn't funny. Honestly having to find a runaway dog when you were part of the CIA was just…kind of embarrassing. She could only imagine the look she must have given her father when he had handed her the mission file for that. He had chuckled and patted her on the head like he used to do when she was little and said or did something he thought was funny.

Tou-san…

"I bet. Ethan was laughing for days about the look on your face when you learned you were tracking down someone's lost pooch." Grandpa chuckled and Kir forced herself to the front of her mind again, her memories of what happened to her father almost taking over completely.

"I'm sure he was…has…there been any change in Grandma's condition?" Kir asked softly almost hesitantly at the end and Karasuma sighed heavily.

"I'm sorry dear. I want her to go back to the Sharon I married but…she hasn't been that woman for almost fifty years now. Still the only thing that shows up as being any different on the doctors exams is that she's drinking less alcohol so her liver is doing better." Karasuma said and Kir sighed slightly. She wished she had her grandma, sure she loved her grandpa and she had loved her tou-san but…she had lost her mother when she was only fourteen and after that she had to focus on taking care of her brother until she graduated highschool and became CIA.

"I've noticed that she seems to have blocked out what happened completely. She…I don't know if she's losing her mind or just not able to cope with what she did but she sometimes seems to forget completely that she even had a son. She mentioned a daughter one time when she was getting drunk at the last Christmas Party but I don't think anyone else remembers since I was one of the few who were sober." Kir said and she heard Karasuma hum slightly at that.

"She does give me this strange look whenever I would mention our son around her, or when she had heard me tell Pisco and Chardonnay about how she had abandoned me and your father. It's like she wants to say something but can't or knows she shouldn't…I've only ever seen her like that whenever I mentioned your father or how she abandoned us." Karasuma said and his mind was whirling a little bit, he had always wondered about that look she had given him those times. But as per her own request he had never told her the name of their son, which meant she didn't even know about Hidemi being their granddaughter either.

Sometimes he wondered if she would even care about how their son had been attacked and their granddaughter tortured if she knew.

"I'm almost to the news station grandpa. I have to hang up now. But…now that you mention I have seen her act weird a few times. As if she somehow forgot things that she was there for, like she had never known or see the incident to start with. I've overheard her asking Gin in her own way about it and there's genuine confusion and not knowing from her…just…something to think about." Kir said making Karasuma hum heavily.

"Maybe something happened and it screwed with her memory…" Karasuma murmured as he wondered what was going on with Sharon, with the woman who was still technically his wife even if they no longer acted as such or lived together….he did still love her after all at least a little bit.

"I don't know…got to go now grandpa. Love you! See you after the mission!" Kir said as she parked her car in her spot.

"Love you too princess. Be safe and I'll see you after the mission. I'm going to start up some of your training again so I'll be bringing Rum and Curacao into the fold soon." Karasuma said and Hidemi sighed a bit as her grandfather hung up the phone.

"Why? Rum should be focusing on Curacao and their kids…poor them having twins on the first go." Kir said to herself with a small chuckle as she recalled Curacao squealing over that news while Rum seemed shocked by it.

Twins…and the others had teased Vodka for buying two teddy bears for them when he had heard of his pseudo-sister's pregnancy.

"Rena-chan! Over here!" Yoko was waving slightly as Rena got out of her car and rode up the elevator to where Yoko was waiting for her, the idol flagging her down from halfway across the room and drawing quite a bit of attention.

Sure enough when Rena glanced over near where Yoko had previously been, the idol running over to Rena to grab her and near drag her back towards the small table, she saw them sitting there. 'Sleeping Sleuth' Mouri Kogoro, his daughter Ran, and little shrunken Kudo-kun…

Why did Kudo-kun look so similar to the pictures she had seen of her dad when he was little? While almost all Japanese had the same dark colored hair…his eyes were almost the exact same shade of blue as her dad's had been and just as big and round as they had been when he was a child.

God he halfway looked like he could be related to Vodka with those big blue eyes…but…something about him…

For some reason she couldn't get the similarities between him and her dad as a child out of her mind even if she pushed them to the back.

It was so strange…
