Hidemi was fighting back her tears as she laid in the bed after talking through the plan with Akai and Kudo. She couldn't believe it…She had…she had been…she had lost…
"Hondou-san?" It was the head of the FBI agents here in Japan, James Black the former Grey Goose, who was knocking on her door as he opened it gently and peered in at her. Kudo was at his feet peering in as well and seeing the child, even if she knew he wasn't really a child, had a flash of pain go through her. He had big blue eyes like Koji and dark hair like both of them and he looked a lot like her dad as a child along with Ei-chan, who she had been happy to see again, and it only reminded her firmly of what she had lost that she honestly hadn't known about beforehand.
"Sorry to bother you, especially when you're still processing the news and not taking it well." James Black said looking apologetic and making her force a smile as she used her hand to carefully beckon them in without disturbing the bedsheets.
"It's…It's fine. What do you two need?" Hidemi asked choking back her pain and sorrow for a moment or two in order to speak with them without bawling like a baby. God how was she going to tell Koji when she saw him again? Could she even tell him? He'd be just as devastated as she was…They hadn't known but they'd both be heartbroken and…could she even do that to him?
"First we came to tell you that we're apologizing for our part in what happened…" James said solemnly as he and Conan both bowed deeply to her in apology.
"It's…it wasn't your fault. There's no way you could have known. I hadn't known." Hidemi said choking that out and having to close her eyes against her tears again.
"I'm sure you didn't. The MiB has strict policy for pregnant agents, especially field agents." James said and Hidemi's eyes snapped open as she sat up alarmed, staring at him in wide eyed shock and disbelief.
"You remember?!" Hidemi asked staring at James who gave her a small smile and nod.
"My memories came back little while ago, the neuralyzer must have had some faults in it because my memories had been slowly returning over the last two or three years and all of them snapped back a few weeks ago when I returned to Japan and happened to see Pisco's memorial. He was a good man and a good agent." James Black said with a small sad smile and Hidemi sighed heavily.
"Yeah. The old Pinot Noir had her memories return a few months ago and walked into Headquarters and that's how we learned about the bugs and kinks still in the Neuralyzers. All the people who had their minds wiped in a certain time frame had their memories slowly return or triggered back to the forefront of their minds by outside stimuli. Our teams were busy for weeks hunting down all the civilians at risk of memories returning and making sure they weren't regaining them, thankfully the ones that did passed it off as some movie they had seen that they can't find anymore or something similar." Hidemi said nodding and making James smile and then glance down at Kudo who gave her a curious look.
"I understand that you're hurting but can you not tell the Organization about me knowing about their true selves for a while yet? I know they're probably protecting me from Alien bounty hunters after I put that Arriax away about a year ago, and having me protect Sherry as well…but honestly I'm going to give them so damn many headaches and they deserve each and every one of them." Kudo said and Hidemi stared at him confused and alarmed.
"I understand how Grey Goose knows, his memories returned, but how do you know about all of this?" Hidemi asked staring at him in disbelief and confusion, there was nothing in his file that showed he should have any knowledge of aliens or anything…not that Hidemi knew of at least and since her clearance was just as high as her grandfathers since she was the 'princess of crows', as her grandpa called her, and was training to take over for her grandfather when he retired if something happened to Rum or she was fully trained and ready first…she would know if there was something in his file about any of this.
"Not only am I part alien on my mom's side, a quarter alien believe it or not but I don't have very many abilities just minor shape shifting like with my eyes and hair…" Kudo, Conan she reminded herself to call him since she wasn't sure what all Grey Goose knew about the boy, decided to prove it by noticeably changing his eye color and shape a bit before putting them back to being big and round and blue.
"But I also have a grandmother on moms side and a grandfather and aunt on dad's side in the MiB itself. All three of them are codenamed agents and there was no way that dad being a detective and writer wouldn't figure out what mom and grandma were and what grandpa and auntie did for a living. Of course they would tell me after I had seen my grandma literally shape shift her entire body once when I was five." Conan said snorting a bit and making Hidemi's mind go completely blank. Not only was he part alien, and it had somehow slipped through the cracks that shouldn't exist in the MiB, but he also had three codenamed family members and a smart dad who had figured it out on his own.
This should all be in Kudo's file but it hadn't been! Why, and how, the hell had this much slipped through the cracks? Those cracks shouldn't be there or at least not this big! She definitely had to tell her grandfather about this!
"Really? Who's your grandparents and aunt?" Hidemi asked staring at Conan quizzically.
"I'm not supposed to give out grandma's codename, something about far too many enemies which is understandable…" Okay if his grandmother was a long lasting field agent or undercover one then that makes sense and she couldn't blame him there, it's the same reason she never told anyone about her grandfather unless she knew she could trust them not to blab.
"But Grandpa and Aunty Sin's codenames are Korn and Chianti!"
