Ok so this is the next chapter!
Thank you for all your reviews/follows/favorites!
Sorry for taking so long, I've just been really busy! I also want to apologize but this chapter will be more of a filler chapter than anything else, mostly because I needed to small chapter in between the last on and the next one, which will be insane! Like seriously, get ready for it!
Frwt asked: is it true that rin's health isn't good now because his game is sealed? i think he is fine, i don't see anything wrong with him... for now (i think, hehe)
Answer: Ummm...maybe? We will see what will happen. ;)
Bianca asked: I really enjoy this plot and would like to know, how Mephisto plans are in getting Rins demonblood free!~ Amaimon will help, that is for sure, but who else? Maybe Astaroth or Iblis? Oh it would be great if we could get to know the other Demonkings! I loved Azazel and Egyn in 'Taken' and 'Mend The Bond' (by the way, why didn't you continue writing at the second one?) and hope, that they will be the same, but if I read your profile, then they probably will. So do they anyway will come into this story? I hope so! The Demonkings are so funny! And I think they would suit in this story of yours, because they would cause Yukio a lot of worries! (It was already funny how Astaroth and Amaimon, just like that, came near Rin and talked or played with him, while Yukio and Fujimoto were angry or worried!) I hope you continue writing and the next chaper will follow soon! (sorry for my bad gramma!)
Answer: Yes, they will be coming into it. Actually another brother will be coming into it very soon!
Ok I think that is all of the questions, sorry if I didn't answer it.
Onto the chapter!
"Stay here."
That was the last order Rin heard before he was left in his room, flinching even though the door had not been closed wit much force. The entire ride home had been suffocating and none of them had spoken until they reached the dorms. Rin knew that his father and brother were upset, and he also knew that it had to do with him going off with Amaimon, but he really couldn't figure out the complete reason yet.
He knew the concept of 'stranger danger', what child didn't? However, he couldn't apply that to this situation, right? Not when it felt as if something deep inside of him felt like it was at ease when Amaimon had been with him, just like it was at ease when he was with Astaroth or even Yukio-but even the feeling Yukio brought to him was a bit different than the one he feels with the two Demon Kings.
But, he also knew that Shiro and Yukio didn't want him associating with them, not that they knew he was. If they did, he knew they would be furious, but Rin wanted the chance to get to know these men as well as learn about the truth within his blood.
Looking out the window of his room as he held the pillow of his bed to his chest, Rin bit his lip. As much as he wanted to continue learning, he didn't want to make Shiro or Yukio even more mad than they were right now. He figured, despite his want to tell Astaroth what he experienced today, that he should just stay here like his family told him to. He didn't know when he would be no longer grounded-as that was what this had to be-but he could wait it out.
"...in? A-e…-u…-ay?" Rin turned at the sound of the nearly incoherent words being spoken through the sound of a meow. At the foot of his bed, he saw Kuro sitting there with his head tilted at him and worried green eyes blinking at him.
"Hi, Kuro." The eight-year-old mumbled behind the pillow. "Do you think that Yukio and dad are really mad at me?"
Kuro meowed again as he got up to rub his head against Rin's curled up legs, a choppy sentence once again barely making it to Rin's ears. "T-re…-s-...-rr-d….y-u."
Rin hugged the pillow tighter to himself. "I guess, but I don't know why. Amaimon was nice."
Kuro seemed thoughtful for a moment and his ears drooped a bit as he looked at Rin. It was almost as if Kuro understood something that Rin didn't, like Kuro could answer all the questions Rin had about this with a few simple words, but Rin knew that wouldn't happen for a few reasons. The first was that he still could not really understand Kuro and Kuro didn't seem to realize that Rin could somewhat understand him yet. Along with this, Rin didn't know what Kuro would do if he realized Rin could understand him, and the eight-year-old knew he didn't want to risk losing his lessons with Astaroth.
Curling up a little tighter on his bed, Rin just decided to sit there and wait. Kuro decided to move in closer, curling up besides Rin and letting out soothing purrs to comfort the boy.
Fists slammed down on the desk.
"Why does this keep happening, Mephisto?!" Shiro exclaimed, his glare burning deep as it was directed towards the man behind the desk. His irritation only spiked when Mephisto hummed and shrugged.
"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. You'll have to be a bit more specific."
Yukio growled from his place behind Shiro. "You know exactly what we are talking about. How the hell do the Demon Kings keep getting to Rin?! First Astaroth and now Amaimon?! You're in charge of the wards around True Cross so why the hell do they keep getting in undetected?! Just what are you playing at?"
"Now, now, these are Demon Kings you're talking about." Mephisto hummed with a small smirk. "They are the most powerful demons just below Satan. Why would my simple wards be able to keep them out? Especially when they each seem determined to reach young Rin."
"And yet you have no knowledge of your wards breaking?" Yukio accused. "For some reason, I doubt that."
"Mephisto, I'm well aware of your ties to the demon world." Shiro spoke up, his glare never lessening. "If you've decided to use Rin as some sort of entertainment or-"
"Now Shiro, we all know that I can easily find things to keep myself entertained, after all that's why I'm here." Mephisto replied with a glinted in his eye. "As for the Demon Kings, I can only do so much about them, especially if you don't want any attention drawn to are quite determined in the goals they set for themselves. As for myself, I only want to look out for the dear boy. After all, that should be obvious if you are so well aware of my ties, yes?"
That go a growl out of Yukio. "Whatever you're planning Mephisto-"
"Now, why would you accuse me of such things? As I said, I'm only looking out for Rin, anything you are considering some devious plan of mine, are just mere coincidence with no 'plans' behind them."
"Oh, so Amaimon showing up while we were at the amusement park was just a mere coincidence then?"
Mephisto gave a shrug. "I don't know what you want me to admit to."
"How about allowing the other Demon Kings get close to Rin under the disguise that it is good for him!?"
"Well, now you're making things up."
"Mephisto-!"
"Whatever you have planned," Shiro cut in. "I do not agree with it."
"Why, I don't recall you ever agreeing with a lot of my ideas, Shiro." Mephisto hummed, his smirk only seeming to grow. "Now, if the only thing you've come to do is yell at me for a few things beyond my control, then I think we are done here."
Shiro and Yukio held their glares a few seconds longer on the demon behind the desk before they both let out growls and left the office. Mephisto watched them go, his eyes glinting with mischief when the door shut behind the two.
"Big brother is a lier." Amaimon's voice drawled as he came out of hiding, his droopy eyes settling themselves onto Mephisto.
"Yes, well, demon's tend to be liers." Mephisto hummed. "And I didn't completely lie. After all, I am here for entertainment and I do want what is best for our little brother, not that they see that." Shifting his eyes away from the door, Mephisto looked to the Demon King of Earth. "Are you ready?"
"Hmm? Of course, it's not as if I have a hard part to play. It will probably just be very boring." Amaimon replied. "The fake brother might put up a fight, but everything else will probably be really boring."
"I apologize for that Amaimon, but this must be done."
"You know, if this all works, father might actually be happy with you."
Mephisto leaned back in his chair with a soft laugh. "Such an odd concept. I might as well be causing the end of the world!"
"I don't think father wants that yet."
Mephisto waved his hand at Amaimon. "Yes, yes. Now, we should start getting ready. After all, it will only be a few days before such a climax to this endless circle of a tale they have weaved within our brother's mind comes to an end."
Rin slowly walked down the stairs, witch Kuro silently following at his feet, to where Yukio and Shiro were waiting for him in the kitchen. When the two had gotten back to the dorms, they called Rin down to talk to him. The eight-year-old silently sat down in one of the seats at the table, keeping his eyes down so he wouldn't have to look at the disappointed faces of his family.
"Rin," Shiro began. "Do you know why we were upset with you today?"
Rin fidgeted in his seat, nervous about getting yelled at yet knowing there was no avoiding in. Biting his lip, Rin gave a stiff nod in response to the question.
"Please use your words Rin." Shiro spoke with a sigh.
With one last nervous chew to his lip, Rin let out quiet words in his mumbled reponse. "Because...I went...off with a stranger."
"And?"
"And...you...you both...told me not to."
"That's right, Rin. So, can you tell me why you went off with this man when you didn't know him?"
"I-He...he felt...he felt nice and...like family." Rin mumbled. "It was weird...but...I didn't feel weird around him…? He...felt like you and Nii-san do…"
Yukio clenched his fists, not liking that he was being compared to the Demon Kings, but a sharp look from Shiro kept him from saying anything.
"Ok, however you didn't know them, did you? Just because you felt comfortable with him doesn't mean that he was safe to follow. You know better then to go off with a stranger." Shiro scolded.
"I'm sorry."
Yukio let out a sigh. "We know, but that doesn't change the fact that you made us very worried through your actions. You don't know what could have happened."
"But...he didn't do anything bad. We...we just played around...and...and it was fun. Amaimon wasn't doing...anything bad, right?" Rin asked, rubbing his fingers together as his gaze stayed downward.
Shiro glanced at Yukio, both wearing worried expressions. They could only do so much in terms of keeping the demon half of Rin's family away from him, which meant they could only do so much in terms of the instincts that all young demons have regarding family. They knew that Rin couldn't help these feelings, but the fact that it was leading him to the exact dangers they were trying to keep him from was the issue.
Taking a deep breath, Shiro spoke. "We understand that you felt safe with him, but we didn't feel safe that you were safe. We didn't know that man-" 'At least not in the way you probably think we mean.' "-and it wasn't okay for you to just go off with him, feeling or not, do you understand?"
"Yes." Rin mumbled.
Shiro nodded. "Ok, now I want you to go back to your room. We'll come get you when dinner arrives, but for now you are to be in your room working on homework."
Rin gave a slow nod in understanding before standing up from the table and heading out of the kitchen. The two older men watched him leave before letting out sighs and slumping in their seats.
"This is just getting more difficult as time passes." Shiro sighed before chuckling. "You'd think I'd be too old to be dealing with familial, demonic disputes."
"You know as well as I do that Mephisto has a part to play in everything that has been happening." Yukio spoke up. "There's no way that Astaroth and Amaimon got in this easily without his influence. They only thing I don't know yet is why Mephisto is helping."
"Who knows," Shiro sighed, reaching into his pocket for a cigarette. "He'll only do things if he gets something out of it, and, at the moment, it's most likely something with Rin."
"But why help us seal his blood only to turn around and allow demon's to get close to Rin?" Yukio said, rubbing his head in frustration.
"Again, who knows." Shiro lit the cigarette and took a deep breath from it. "No matter what, we have to be ready for something. While we may not know what is being planned, we do know that it has something with Rin, and we need to be prepared to deal with whatever it will be."
"I'm always ready to protect my brother." Yukio breathed out with a smile before frowning. "I just have this bad feeling in my gut, that something will happen soon."
"Well, you should always trust your gut." Shiro smiled. "And speaking of gut, we should probably order dinner. It's a tragedy we won't be able to enjoy your brother's cooking tonight." Shiro gave Yukio a mock glare, as the punishment of Rin not cooking that night had been his idea.
"Rin enjoys cooking." Yukio laughed. "It's not a punishment if we let him cook."
"Yeah, well this seems like a double edged punishment if you ask me." Shiro huffed with a pout as he pulled out his phone. Yukio laughed besides him at the response.
So that was that! I hope you enjoyed it for what it was. I'm actually aiming to get the next chapter up soon just because shit is going to go down. Like if this one was too short for you the next one should fix that. Should any way.
Feel free to comment, ask questions, etc.
Until next time! :D
