Hello!

So this drabble has been highly requested a few months ago by IndyStarkJr, House-less, and antares.78. It's an AU which features a baby. It's fluff and everyone is stupidly happy. I hope you'll enjoy it!

63. You're important, too.

Cuddy woke up with a jolt, hearing an unfamiliar noise through the baby monitor. Instead of the usual wailing, she heard soft, masculine snores. Holding out her arm and hitting cold sheets, she quickly realised that they were House's.

With a grin, she allowed herself a minute before joining them in the nursery.

It wasn't the first time that she'd slept over the baby's loud cries. Combining work and raising two kids sapped her energy, and she couldn't remember a time in her life when she slept more deeply. Thankfully, House was there to help. She'd dreaded telling him about her pregnancy, knowing he wasn't big with commitment – even though he'd made great improvements since they got together – fearing that she was asking too much from him, that he wouldn't want the baby at all.

While it had been difficult for him at first – she remembered how awful it had been for her on her first days with Rachel and didn't blame him – he'd quickly fallen into stride with her, helping her out any time he could, getting up before she could wake up, feeding the baby milk that she had pumped earlier, changing its diaper.

In fact, come to think of it, he spent more time with the baby than she did, she realised with a frown.

Hearing babbling over the masculine snores, Cuddy got up and donned the robe laying across the bed. Surely enough, when she walked into the baby's room, she found House asleep in the rocking-chair where she usually breast-fed their baby, who was firmly curled up into the crook of his arm. The baby, realising Cuddy was watching them from the doorway, turned to her and babbled louder, demanding her attention.

House opened his eyes when she took the baby from his arms. "Hey," he greeted her with a hoarse whisper. "Changed her diaper. She wouldn't go back to sleep."

"I can see that," she smiled, holding the baby against her chest. "You spend more time with her than with me, you know," she teased as he stood back up. "I'm feeling very neglected."

"Don't be jealous," he said as he brushed her hair away from her forehead. "You're important, too." He kissed her cheek and whispered in her ear, "I'm going back to bed."

She grinned. "I'm important, too," she whispered to the baby, who looked at her with big blue eyes. Cuddy kissed her on the forehead and put her back in the crib. "Good night, sweet pea."

Turning off the light, Cuddy hurried back to the bedroom on tiptoes.
