Testing one, two , three! Next chapter here we go. Hope you liked the first one.
I took my time on this one cause if I do continue, then this chapter will defiantly be revisited in a future chapter. So I made sure to get every detail right.
Jp - Thanks! You know I love to think outside the box. I also learn a lot from your stories too. I may take inspiration from them from time to time.
Sane phyco - Well that's quite a nice name. Thanks for your support.
"Here's the plan," Fenton placed a map he sketched out on the floor. The whole family and friends gathered around and listened in. The group was made of Della, Donald, Fenton, Gandra, Fethry, Gladstone, Beakley, Goldie, Manny, Gyro, the babies and Lena.
"There are three kingdoms and only one is safe to go through. That's St Canard,"
"Does have to be St Canard?" Gandra asked in some worry. Without pulling his eyes from the map, Fenton wrapped his arm around his wife for comfort.
"We can't go north of Duckburg cause Magica has that part blocked off. Our only chance is the three way bridge in the middle of the three kingdoms. One leads to St Canard, one to Duckburg and one to Cape Suzzette. We're gonna take the St Canard bridge because Cape Suzzette has already closed their borders."
"Already? The new law just came out this morning," Donald was confused and looked at Daisy.
"Lunaris started to build the walls weeks ago. Apparently he predicted this kind of situation and got a head start. That guy is a master strategist," Daisy answered them.
"St Canard is the only kingdom that hasn't closed their borders. We can go cross the St Canard bridge, sneak through St Canard, and cross the border before they close."
"Those bridges have become weak due to the lack of care. Are you sure we can cross them?" Della asked with a major concern in her voice.
"It'll have to do. We have no other choice," Donald grabbed onto Prince Turbo and stood up, "If we leave now, we'll make it."
"Couldn't have said it better myself, let's move," Fenton rolled up his map and lead the way through the passages.
In her room, Lena looked out the window. The kingdom was a mess. Broken homes, dead plants, a bloody red sky decorated with nightmares and shadows, she couldn't believe that Magica is queen of all this. She couldn't believe that this made her princess of all this. She spotted the royal family and their friends running across the garden and hopping the wall. She wished with all her heart that she could leave with them, but the new princess would just get them caught. Magica would track her down the moment she was gone and get them caught. Her place was here in the castle now. Being nothing but a shadow to her wicked hearted aunt.
In town
Goldie, was riding a cart with Manny pulling it. In the back, under a sheet, she can hear the royal family arguing with one another
"Why are we hiding in this dirty old thing again?" Gladstone complained.
"A royal family casually walking across town is more than likely to catch attention. Now stop complaining and be quiet," Della commanded. She suffered to keep her boys asleep. They each laid in their own basket so it would be easier to carry them.
"Move over will you?" Donald shoved Gladstone aside.
"How has my luck put me in this situation?" Gladstone mumbled in misery.
"Maybe your luck can help us escape," Della argued back.
"Not if he doesn't stop complaining," Donald angrily snapped.
"I'm not complaining, I'm just extremely uncomfortable sitting this closely to you guys in an extremely small space!"
"Hault!" The family was quick to shut up when they heard a knight stop the cart.
"Is there a problem?" Goldie asked as casually as she can. The knights circled the cart while the leader looked up at the blond lady.
"State your status and business," he commanded.
"Goldie O'Gilt, servent and deliver of the castle. I'm just exporting some items over to St Canard for the queen,"
"What kind of items?" As the leader asked, the other knights opened up boxes and looked at what she had.
"Weapons, torches, food, drinks…." The knights observed. The royal family stayed as silently as they could. They were holding their breath for they were too afraid that even that would make a sound.
"What's under the sheet?" One of the knights tried to lift the sheet up. The royal family nearly felt their hearts pop out of their chest when they felt the sheet lift up.
"More food and supplies," Fenton answered pulling the sheet down. The royal family sighed in relief when they saw they were safe for now.
"Who are you?" The leader looked at the back of the cart where Fenton, Gandra, Beakley and Gyro sat.
"Fenton, captain of the guards," Fenton saluted," I'm here because I was ordered to guide Miss Gilt on her deliveries."
"Can we see under the sheets?" The leader asked as he tried to pull them up but Fenton again pulled them down.
"I'm afraid I can't do that. Personal order from the queen herself. Only the leaders in St Canard can see," Fenton explained. He didn't show it but he was fearing for his life right now. The same can be said for the royal family under the sheets.
"We're so dead," Fethry mumbled to himself. Squirming in his basket, baby Turbo began to wake up.
"Oh nononono," Della tried to put him back to sleep. Too late, before anyone can do anything, he let out a small cry. Donald quickly placed his hand over the princes mouth.
"What was that?" One of the knights heard.
"What was what?" Beakly asked acting as if she didn't hear it.
"Is there a baby in the cart?" The leader asked suspiciously.
"Besides my granddaughter, Webbigail, there is no one else in this cart," Beakly pulled the blanket off of Webby to reveal her in her arms. She was fast asleep, hugging a chunk of her blanket. The leader looked at the baby, still not convinced that's what he heard.
"We can't let you pass the three way bridge without proper knowledge of what's being transported," the leader of the group commanded.
"We already told you, their food and supplies for St Canard," Gandra tried to back up their story.
"Like I believe you," the leader mumbled under his breath. He grabbed the sheets again but his hands were smacked away by Gandra.
"What was that?" She commanded to know.
"Nothing important," the leader didn't answer her and instead tried to grab the sheet again. Fenton took out his sword in front of the knights hands, blocking him from grabbing the sheet.
"Is there some trust issues you have with us?" He asked in a stirn voice.
"It's not that we don't trust you captain, we don't trust her," The leader of the group gestured at Gandra.
"So it's me you have a problem with?!" Gandra hopped off the cart and faced the leader of the group, "I know my past isn't the best but you have no right to accuse us of anything. I've fought for our kingdom like you, I've obeyed our law like you. And as loyal knights to the castle, we were ordered by the queen herself to transport the cart to St Canard and no one but the leaders can see what we have. If you have a problem with that, take it to the queen."
"It's hard to believe the queen would send you on this quest in your condition," The leader comment on Gandras pregnancy. That was the last straw, she swiped out her sword and placed the tip of it under the leaders chin.
"I'm not injured, ill or disabled. Who do you think you are telling me how to do my job. If I can still swing a sword and hold a shield, I can fight. I am perfectly capable of delivering supplies to another kingdom. If you don't like it, then get out of my way!"
The leader finally stepped away from the cart with his hands up.
"I meant no disrespect. My team and I just need to make sure there is nothing in…" Gandra just groaned in frustration. Out of the blue, Gandra swung her sword and stabbed through the sheet. Everyone held in their gasps when she did. Dark red liquid began to stain the white sheet leaving everyone in the cart wide eyed. Underneath the sheet, the family ducked down in time to avoid the sword. They had horror plastered on their faces as they watched the sword stab a crate of pomegranates near them. The juice dripped on them and stained the sheet.
Gandra pulled the sword out, making sure to knock the stack of crates on top of the family. She pulled the sheet off and in the knights perspective, there was nothing but crates and fruits.
"Is that what you wanted to see?" Gandra growled through her teeth. One of the knights looked into the cart and nodded at his leader.
"Nothing but food and supplies," he confirmed.
"To think there is still a lack of trust in this kingdom," Gandra threw the sheets back over the crates and hopped in the cart.
"Sorry for the inconvenience captain. Can't be too careful in this kingdom," the leader told Fenton. He didn't really say anything as he helped Gandra back into the cart. Goldie moved ahead and entered the Duckburg bridge.
Della wasn't kidding when she said the bridges were weak. After Magica took over, the bridges have been damaged and were ready to collapse at any moment.
They could feel the bridge swing back and forth indicating the weak support it had. The family looked down to see they were above hundreds of feet. The bridges were above the ocean and the waves hit the metal of the bridge. With each hit of the wave, they could hear the bridge creeking and moving.
"I'm gonna get sea sick," Daisy held in her breakfast. The family took off the crates and sheet on top of them.
"Was dropping the crates on us necessary? You nearly killed us!" Donald glared at Gandra. She just shrugged as if it was no big deal.
"It worked didn't it," she responded. The bridge then jerked to the side when a big wave of salty water hit a weak spot.
"Whoa Manny," Goldie pulled onto the ropes making the man horse stop in his tracks. They hoped that pausing would make the bridge balance again. The sudden jerk scared the triplets awake. The three began to cry, causing everyone to panic.
"Shush them," Gladstone told his cousin, "The shadows might hear them."
Della tried to rock their baskets in hopes to put them to sleep again.
"Oh please be quite baby boys," Della pleaded with them. Donald tried to give them a fruit or anything that might entertain the boys. But whatever he gave them, they would toss it off the cart or straight back to his face. Dellas mind raced back and forth, trying to think of anything that might calm her boys down. An idea them came to her mind. Of course! That always worked.
She cleared her throat and began to sing a tune. The singing caught the baby's attention but they continued to cry a bit.
(Song, bold for actions)
"Look to the stars my darling baby boys,"
Her singing caught everyone off guard.
"Life is strange and vast,
Filled with wonder and joys,"
"Is she crazy?" Gladstone cocked his head to the side in confusion. This gained him a strong nuge from Donald, "Ow!"
"Face each new sun,
With eye's clear and true,
Unafraid of the unknown,
Because I'll face it all with you."
This seemed to calm the boys down a bit. They were still looking up at their mother with big watery eyes. Seeing they were still afraid, Della prepared herself to sing again. In the distance, they could hear the clock of the Duckburg tower ring to the rhythm of her lullaby.
Ding
"Reflecting in your hearts,
I can see a shining shooting star,
Let it be your guide,
So you can know who you really are,"
Ding
Della caressed her babies hair, feeling the soft texture between her fingers. The touch of their mother slowly melted away their fear.
Ding
"Gaze upon the earth,
I'm looking at it too,
Life is colorful,
Filled with green, red and blue,"
Once they were calmer, she tucked in their blankets so they get comfy in their baskets.
Ding
"Know we'll always be home,
There's nothing they can do,
To make us afraid of the unknown,
I will be there with you too,"
Manny gently walked across the bridge, careful not to rock it anymore. The sound of his hoofs along with the gentle wind was music to the young ones. It was soft, gentle, and comforting to know they were going steady to their safety.
Ding
"Countless galaxies,
Can't compare to my sweet melody,
Let it bring you strength,
So you may fly bold and free,"
Ding
As she finished up her song, her mind wandered off to her uncle. He was the one who gave her strength, he was the one who taught her bravery. Thanks to him, she had a heart of courage and faced everyday with a brave smile.
Ding
"Look to the stars my darling baby boys,
Life is strange and vast,
Filled with wonder and joys,"
She felt a few tears start to form in her eye's. They were a combination of sadness and joy. She was on her way to freedom with her family and friends, but there was still a hole in her heart. There was nothing she wanted more than to have her uncle with her by their side. She wanted him to witness the boys growing up. See their first steps, hear their first words, and have their first adventure with him. Where ever he is now, she knew he would be overjoyed to see them make their way to freedom.
Ding
"Face each new sun,
With eye's clear and true,
Unafraid of the unknown,
Because I'll face it all….."
Della choked on her last words. She felt her warm tears slide on her cheeks. She grabbed lids of the baskets and placed them over her sons baskets.
Ding
"…...All with you,"
End of song
Della shut her eyes and thought about their future. She had to move forward without her uncle, but that's what he would want right? She looked up at her brother who also had tears in his eyes. They both shared a loving smile, knowing they were both thinking about their uncle. Donald wrapped his arms around his sister, making sure she had a shoulder to cry on.
Ding
"That was the last ring," they heard Beakly whisper in fear.
"Last what?" Donlad asked not letting go of his twin. The bell had stopped ringing after the 10th ring.
"They're starting?" Gandra said in shock.
"Starting?" Donald repeated. He finally let go of Della and looked at Duckburg from a distance. They had finally crossed the Duckburge bridge and come to the midpoint. They stood in a circle shaped piece of land that had two other bridges connected to it. To their left was the bridge to Cape Suzette, to their right was the bridge to St Canard and behind them was the bridge back to Duckburg.
"That can't be," Della couldn't believe her eye's. The shadows in the vortex were flying down and breaking into homes, "It's only ten o clock. The papers said it would start at noon."
"Lieing witch," Gandra mumbled, "She probably said that just to throw everyone off. To catch us by surprise."
"Guys?" Fenton said in a worrying tone. They all looked at him and noticed his gaze was on the ground next to the cart. The whole group followed his gaze and were mortified by what they saw. Their inky black shadows laying on the ground.
"When did our shadows come back?" Donald asked out of fear and confusion. In a blink of an eye, the shadows raised from the ground and knocked over the cart. Della was the first on her feet and only had one thing in mind. She looked for the baskets that held her boys. To her horror, her own shadow had a basket in hand.
"No! Give him back!" Della tried to lunge at the shadow but it swiftly moved to the side, dodging her. Her shadow let out what sounded like a laugh before rushing away. It waited at the Cape Suzette bridge and held out the basket as if to tease her. Angered, Della shot up and chased after the shadow. Again, the shadow swiftly dodged and kept the basket in hand.
"Give him back you…. You…." Della was fuming and couldn't seem to find the words to express it. She just let out an angry scream and sprinted after the shadow.
In the middle of the chaos, a basket that held Prince Turbo was laying on the ground. The little baby had fallen out and wailed in fright. The crying sound caught the attention of Daisys shadow. She pushed everyone aside until she came across the crying prince. She gave out a happy hiss and picked the baby off the floor.
"Hands off my boy!" Donald was the first to react. The Daisy shadow had no time to react when the angry man tackled her to the ground. Donald grabbed onto Turbo and pulled him back as hard as he could. But the shadow wasn't letting go so easily. It soon became a game of tug of war when the two kept tugging onto Turbos blanket.
At the Duckburg bridge, Goldies shadow was getting away with the basket that held little Rebel.
"Now wait just a minute," Goldie dashed in front of her shadow with a lit up torch from the cart, "Let go of the little prince and no one will get hurt."
The shadows eyes flickered over at Goldie and the prince. It was clearly deciding on what to do, and the result wasn't what Goldie hopped for. The shadow gave a sly smile and tossed the basket over the bridge.
"No," Goldie gasped. She dropped her torch and ran to the side of the bridge. She looked down in fear at what she might see. She was both relieved and scared to see the basket got caught on a branch from the cliff. She looked to her left and right making sure no shadow was following her. She climbed over the barrier of the bridge and slowly made her way down.
I got this, I'm good," Goldie told herself. She didn't even dare look down as she grabbed onto the bottom edge of the bridge. Her body dangling hundreds of feet above a merciless ocean. She could hear Rebel crying in his basket and the sounds of the waves crashing against the bridge. She steadily moved underneath the bridge and held onto any bars she could find underneath. Just like a kid on the monkey bars, she swung herself back and forth, making her way to Rebel.
The sound of cracking nearly broke the treasure hunters focus. She looked ahead to see the branch Rebel was hanging from was cracking under the weight.
Back at the chaos, a shadow was dragging Jet to the Duckburg bridge until it was rammed on it's side. It got hit back and saw that Manny was running on all fours, hitting whatever shadow he had in sight. The shadow gave a disappointed and angry hiss before zooming past him. The shadow was just about to make it to the Duckburg bridge, until it felt a hard blow to its head by a pair of swords.
"Grab Jet!" Fenton commanded his wife. He held his sword towards the shadow while Gandra grabbed Jet with her sword still in hand. The shadow let out a loud hiss and lunged at the female knight who swung her sword towards it. The shadow backed off a bit but continued to make attempts on grabbing Jet.
"No you don't!" Della tackled her shadow to the ground and held its neck between her hands. She looked over at the knights with both angry and scared eyes, "Hurry across the St Canard bridge. We'll catch up, don't worry."
The knights nodded yes and hopped onto Manny's back. Not wasting a single second, Manny sprinted across the chaotic mess and onto the St Canard bridge.
Back with Donald, he was still at a tug of war with the shadow. He glanced down at the blanket to see Turbo was slipping out. Quick thinking, he let go of the blanket causing the shadow to fly back on the ground. Donald ducked down and caught Turbo before he could even touch the ground. Donald was ready to sprint to the St Canard bridge until a shriek stopped him in his tracks.
"Let go of me!" Daisy was fighting off her own and Donalds shadow. They were dragging her to the Cape Suzette bridge. Beakley was trying to push them away but had trouble considering she was holding Webby in her arms.
"Daisy!" Donald grabbed the first weapon he could find on the floor and ran over to the shadow. In a blink of an eye, he smacked Daisys shadow away and swung a second hit towards his shadow. Every hit was stronger than the last and was sure to make even the most stubborn shadow cringe in pain.
"Donald!" Daisy pulled him away when a shadow attacked from behind. The group kept backing away until they were on the Cape Suzette bridge. They went into fighting positions, prepared to fight once more. To everyone's surprise, the shadows stopped mid way on the bridge. No one put their guard down, they were alert and ready. But they were not ready for what came next. The shadows flew straight up and came crashing down on the bridge. The sudden damage caused the bridge to crack and break. They didn't need anyone to tell them they had to run for it. Donald held onto Turbo as tight as he could and ran across the Cape Suzette bridge.
With Goldie, she was dangling on some vines that were growing underneath the bridge. She held on tight and swung to the basket before it could fall. She was relieved to get the baby prince in her hands but her happiness didn't last. She felt the bridge shake like crazy. Her eyes glanced up and there she saw shadows destroying the Duckburg bridge. They looked down at her, laughing in their snarky tone. She placed the basket over her shoulder and held onto the vines tight.
With one last hit from the shadows, the bridge began to crumble. Goldie covered her head and felt gravity take place. The vines she held on snapped from one end and swung her towards Duckburg. She let go and held onto another vine. She looked back to see that half the bridge was destroyed. Seeing no other way, she climbed up the vines until she was back on the half of the bridge that wasn't destroyed. There was no other way to go but back to Duckburg for her, so that's what she did.
In the fight, Gladstone, Fethry, Gyro, and Della were the only ones that hadn't made it to a bridge. Unfortunately, it appears they never will.
"Fenton! Look out!" Fethry cried out. Fenton, Gandra, and Manny we're halfway across the St Canard bridge with Jet in hand. A shadow rammed onto the bridges side, causing a giant crack. Manny came to a halt before attempting to go around the crack. A shadow zipped underneath Manny, causing him to trip and fall. Fenton and Gandra both fell to the ground but were more than quick to get back up. The shadows first target was of course baby Jet. Dellas shadow tackled Gandra to the ground and reached out for the baby.
The knight placed her sword between them trying to block the shadows way of getting Jet. She placed her feet onto the shadows belly and kicked it off her.
"You ok?" Fenton asked as he fought off some of the shadows. Gandra nodded yes in response before she noticed the crack getting bigger and the bridge getting weaker.
"We have to go!" Gandra warned him and gestured to the crack. Fenton couldn't agree more, he pushed the rest of the shadows away with his sword before making a run for it. Manny was kind enough to get the two and the baby on his back and run. The bridge began to fall apart, the floor was cracking, and the bridge began to tilt to one side. Manny sprinted across the bridge, barely out running the disaster. The second he made it to solid ground, he halted, letting everyone hop off him.
With Della, she was being dragged around by two shadows. She was nearly thrown off the edge until her cousins pulled the shadows away from her. She hopped back into her feet and looked to see who else was fighting. It was just her, her cousins and Gyro. She looked to her side to see that Fenton and Gandra had succeeded in getting Jet across the St Canard bridge. Della looked at the other bridges, Daisy and Donald were with Turbo across the Cape Suzette bridge along with Beakly and Webby. The only one who was back in Duckburg was Rebel. He was clutching onto Goldies shirt clearly scared of all the loud noises. Della could hear more shadows coming closer and closer. There was no way she would find a way across any of the bridge's in time. She knew right away that there was only one choice if she wanted her boys to live.
"Run!" She told them.
"What!?" Everyone cried out.
"Run! Don't let them take my boys!" Della pleaded.
"But…. Della!" Donald couldn't believe his ears. He held onto Turbo tightly, hoping he misheard his sister.
"Forget about me! Go now! And take good care of them! Please!" Dellas pleads finally made everyone move.
Fenton and Gandra hopped back onto Manny's back who wasted no time and ran off. Jet looked back at his mother with pleading eyes, trying to get one last look at her before running off to the forest.
Della looked back to see Rebel was practically crying rivers of tears. He held out his small arms as if his mom was in his reach.
"We have to hide," Goldie tried to tell him in a comforting tone. She wrapped the little one in his green blanket and carried him away. Carefully, Goldie went into the forest to avoid any shadows seeing her.
The last one to run was Donald. He was still in shock at what was happening. He couldn't tear his eyes away from Della because he knew that this was going to be the last time he sees her. The last time Turbo was gonna see her.
"Donald?" Daisy tried to snap her fiance out of his train of thought. She tugged into his suit but he wouldn't budge. Anxious, she tried to pull Turbo away from him but his grip on his nephew was too tight. Daisy could see fear and tears forming in Donald's eye's.
"Donald please! This is Turbos only chance to freedom!" Della begged him to leave. Donald finally shook his head and came back to reality. He heard the shadows coming closer. Della was right, he had to go now. He regrettably turned around and ran off with the blue triplet in hand.
Della prepared herself for the worst. She was trapped, cornered, but as long as her boys are safe, she's satisfied. She could only pray now that her friends and family can keep them safe.
Duckburg
Goldie was running across town, hiding Rebels face from passing shadows. She could hear people screaming, begging not to be taken away from their families. The streets were full of cries from loved ones getting dragged back to Cape Suzette or St Canard, people running away and many were just trying to keep their home from getting destroyed by passing shadows.
"Almost home," Goldie comment to Rebel. The baby was at the edge of tears, scared from hearing so many people crying and screaming, "It's ok little one. You'll be safe with me."
She ran past many streets, douging any flying debri or shadow that came flying her way. Lucky for her she was a naturally born Duckburg citizens so no shadow stopped her. Her only real threat was carrying the prince.
At Cape Suzette
Donald, Daisy, and Beakly were walking across Cape Suzette. Apparently the law also applied to the other kingdoms. Anyone who was a St Canard or Duckburg citizens were being dragged out of Cape Suzette by the aliens from the moon.
"We have to hide," Daisy told her friends.
"Aren't you a Cape Suzette citizen?" Beakly asked her.
"Yes and I'm also the princess here. Or was until Lunaris took over. I can't be seen," Daisy mumbled to her. They kept walking calming, trying not to get any attention from the moon landers. They were going door to door, asking for any non Cape Suzette citizens.
"I have an idea," Donald whispered to them. He took the lead and the rest followed.
Donald led them to the docs where many planes were parked in the sea. In the distance, there were two cliffs close together, forming a narrow path for any boat or plane to pass by.
"What are we doing here?" Beakly asked.
"Baloo and Rebecca are close family friends. They just may be able to help us," Donald explained. He gave a knock to which a lady with brown hair cautiously opened. Her eyes lit up when she saw who it was.
"Donald?" She said.
"Rebecca, we really need your help. We can't be seen by any moon landers," Donald pleaded. The lady asked no questions. She opened the door and let them in.
"Mommy, who is it?" A little girl with blond hair came down some stairs. Behind her was another little boy, slightly older. The two look like they just got out of bed.
"Go back to sleep Molly," Rebecca told her daughter, "you too Kit. If anyone comes in, just do as your told, ok?"
"What's going on? Who are they?" Kit asked.
"I'll explain later," Rebecca led the family to the middle of the living room. She pulled back the rug to reveal a small door. She opened it up and gestures them to go in, "hurry, moon landers can be here any second."
As if on cue, a knock came from the door.
"I'll get it," Molly rushed over to open the door.
"Molly don't!" Rebecca tried to warn her daughter. Too late, she swung open the door causing a panic from Donald and others. Donald tossed Turbo to Daisy and put out his arms to protect them.
"Wow, you should see just how crazy it is out there. Moon landers as far as the eye can see," a man with a pilot outfit came in. Everyone signed in great relief.
"Oh Baloo, it's just you," Rebecca held onto her racing heart. She gestured for everyone to get into the secret room again.
"Say, Donald, haven't seen you in a while," Baloo took notice of the man's fear, "What's going on?"
"They need to hide from the Moon landers," Rebecca explained.
"Is it ok if we stay here for awhile?" Donald asked hopefully.
"Of course, but telling you now, the moon landers are searching the neighbors right now," Baloo warned. Another knock came. Before Molly could open it again, Baloo made sure to catch her in his arms and pick her up. Donald and the others hopped in, and closed the door. Rebecca placed the carpet back over before going over to the door. She took a deep breath in, and opened.
"We're sent here under General Lunaris orders. Mind if we search the house?" One of the Moon people said.
"Not at all," Rebecca hid all her fear very well.
St Canard
Fenton, Gandra and Manny were doing their best to keep their faces hidden.
"I never thought I had to see these egg men again," Gandra mumbled under her breath. Just like the other kingdoms, St Canard was being searched for anyone that didn't belong, "Where are we going anyways?"
"You'll see. I have an old comrade here in St Canard. I'm sure he be willing to help us cross the border," Fenton explained.
An hour later they came to a nice looking house.
"So after years of upstaging me in the battle field, you finally come for my help," a man who owned the house smirked.
"Tell me your still not holding a grudge over me Drake," Fenton wasn't asking but hoping. The man let out a small chuckle before letting them into the house.
"The search just started an hour ago. It'll be over by tonight," Drake explained.
"Will the border be blocked by then?" Gandra asked.
"Not all," Drake assured her, "Their letting trains pass by today but if we want to escape St Canard, we have to catch the last train at 8 pm."
"We?" Fenton repeated.
"What? You think I let you in from the kindness of my heart Gizmo dork?" Even though he was joking, Fenton let out a nervous laugh, "Just kidding. Launchpad and I have been planning on leaving for a while. In fact you just caught us in the middle of our escape preparation."
"Are these enough supplies DW?" A large muscular man came down the stairs with bags of food and water.
"Make it a couple more Launchpad. We have a few more mouths to feed," Drake told him.
"Fenton? Why are you here?" Launchpad asked as he put all the supplies down.
"We're trying to escape St Canard like you two," He responded. Drake began to lead them up the stairs.
"Don't you two worry about a thing. You guys can hide in the attic until it's time to leave,"
"Thanks Drake, I'm really gonna owe you one after this," Fenton followed him and hid.
Hours past but it felt like days to them. When it was finally time, the group left the house and headed for the train station. Egg men were all over the place, making sure no one escaped their kingdom.
"Hide in one of the supply carts," Drake whispered. Everyone did as he said and headed to an empty cart on the train. They dodged and ducked, making sure no soldier saw them get on. The second they got on, the train began to move. Everyone hid deeper into the cart and hid behind some boxes.
They would be relieved, if it wasn't for the constant crying of the baby.
"Will you shut your baby up. He'll get us caught," Drake warned them. He looked over the boxes to make sure no F.O.W.L agent saw them.
"He's not ours, he's Dellas," Gandra explained.
"Princess Della?" Drake turned back to her in confusion.
"It's a long story," Gandra didn't want to explain right now.
"So are you guys like gonna give him back or…" Launchpad tried to ask her.
"I don't know, Della was captured. I never thought we get stuck with a baby before we had our own,"
"Go to sleep, come on. I'm gonna be a terrible dad!" Fenton felt like he was about to blow from frustration.
"Give him to me," Gandra scooped Jet from his arms and into hers. She tried to cradle him to sleep like Fenton did, only this time, she did what Della did, "Look to the stars my darling baby boy….."
"Great, we're running for our lives and she's singing," Drake facepalmed. Fenton shushed him and listened as Jet began to calm down.
"Life is strange and vast,
Filled with wonder and joy,"
Fenton scooted closer and pulled the blanket back over Jet. He joined his wife to the next couple of lines.
"Face each new sun,
With eye's clear and true,
Unafraid of the unknown,
Because we'll face it all with you,"
And just like that, Jet had fallen back asleep. He let his tiny body relax and sink deeper in Gandras arms. He was feeling much safer now.
"Guess we're stuck with this little guy," Gandra chuckled.
"Is he still gonna be named Jet?" Launchpad asked. The couple looked up in surprise.
"What do you mean?" Fenton asked.
"Prince Jet Duck McDuck of Duckburg, try saying that 5 times fast, isn't a common name. People will recognize him on the spot as the prince," Drakes explanation convinced them. They looked down at the baby and thought to themselves.
"I guess we can change his name…." Gandra said.
"Something….. bright," Fenton suggested.
"Bright?" Drake questioned. The knight nodded yes.
"He'll surely have a bright future now that he's safe. A bright mind, a bright heart…. Hubert!"
"Or Huey for short," Launchpad agreed with the name.
"Hmm, I like that name. Hubert it is," Gandra second it.
Back at Duckburg, Goldie was walking back and forth with little Rebel in her arms. She tried her best to rock the little one asleep but nothing worked. Her hair was frazzled, her eyes were drooping, she needed sleep. She be lying if she said she knew what she was doing. She looked out the glass window of her mansion, cradling Rebel like crazy.
"Please, please sleep little prince," Goldie begged the baby but he kept crying. She banged her head on the window, looking at her reflection. What was she, crazy? She couldn't take care of a prince. But she couldn't leave him. An idea popped into her head when she remembered how much Rebel must be missing his mother.
"Reflecting in your heart,"
She began as softly as she could.
"I can see a shining shooting star,
Let it be your guide,
So you can know who you really are,"
Slowly, Rebel began to quiet down. He stretched out his body and let himself relax. Goldie gave a bright smile when she saw just how happy Rebel was. She cradled him a little slower and gazed out the window. This was gonna be a huge adventure for her. Raising a little prince wasn't gonna be easy.
"Gaze upon the earth,
I'm looking at it too,
Life is colorful,
Filled with green, red and blue,
Know we'll always be home,
There's nothing they can do,
To make us afraid of the unknown,
I will be there with you too,"
Goldie felt a great wave of relief and joy when Rebel finally shut his eyes. She tucked him back into the bed and laid next to him. She looked down at the little baby and thought of a new name. She had to if she didn't want him being recognized.
"What should I name you? You little rebellious troublemaker. I'll be sure to make you in a leader's image so you can inherit our family business, "Her eyes them lit up when she was sure she found a name for him, "Llewellyn! My little Louie."
In Cape Suzette, Donald was setting up the beds to go to sleep. As he did, he could hear some humming from the living room.
"Countless galaxies,
Can't compare to my sweet melody,"
Daisy was rocking Turbo in the crib, who was fast asleep the moment he heard the song. Donald smiled at the sight. He held comfort knowing he wasn't gonna be alone on raising his nephew. If only he had the other two. Sure it would be noisy and pure chaos but he wouldn't mind at all. All he could do now is hope that others can take care of them and provide for them.
"Let it bring you strength,
So you may fly bold and free,"
Daisy hummed for a while.
"It must be nice knowing you have someone to help," Rebecca past by the hall.
"Yea," Donald sighed. He walked past everyone in the room and took a spot next to his future wife. He loving wrapped his arm around her and looked down at the baby. He closed his eyes, and listened to her voice before joining in the last notes.
"Look to the stars my darling baby boy,"
Everyone in the room cringed the moment they heard Donald sing along. They covered their ears and watched in surprise that Turbo hadn't woken up.
"Life is strange and vast,
Filled with wonder and joys,
Face each new sun,
With eyes clear and true,
Unafraid of the unknown,
Cause we'll face it all with you,"
"Shh," Donald placed the blanket over his nephew.
"So what are we gonna name him?" Daisy asked.
"Name him?" Donald repeated in confusion.
"Well, we can't have him in public with a name like Prince Turbo. Lunaris will recognize him as the prince," Daisy explained. Donald glanced down at his nephew and thought it over. She was right. He couldn't leave Turbo as Turbo if he wanted him safe.
"Dewford, Dewford Duck," Donald concluded.
"Poor baby," Daisy sighed in some sadness. Her eye's shut, just thinking of the events from today, "Orphaned at such a young age. Growing up with no memory of his great Uncle, mother, father or brothers….. How could anyone do this?"
"As long as the other two are safe, I'll be happy," Donald pulled her into a tight hug and thought about his other nephews. He wondered what they were doing, where they were.
Well there we go. I hope you enjoyed this long chapter. A lot of editing went into this one. Especially on Gandras part because I was revealing too much of her past here. Can't have that yet. My only disappointment is that I cut out a scene where Huey wouldn't stop crying and Gandra basically drugs him to sleep. I remember watching a documentary on slaves escaping to the north and some moms actually drugged their babies to sleep so they wouldn't get caught. Harsh times.
Anyways, Hope to continue. Bye.
