Yeah yeah, Another update so soon? Well like I said, this story (musical version) is already at chapter 5 in Wattpad. So all I need to do is copy and paste and replace musical numbers with normal scenes. Each chapter will now focus on each triplets life growing up. As in, it's gonna show them from the age of 6 to the age of 17 in order to show you how each triplet grew up.
This is also me getting ready for tomorrow! My sister and I already have our popcorn and candies ready!
Jp - fun fact, that chapter took me days and weeks to perfect. I hope it's for obvious reasons. And yeah, Donald does have it worse.
Psycho - Thank you
"I can't find it!" A little boy was running around the house. He wore a red t-shirt with brown shorts and a matching red hat.
"Did you check under the bed?" A little girl asked. Just like the boy, she was running around searching.
"Under my bed, under mami y papi bed, under abuelitas bed. It's gone!" The little 6 year old boy threw his arms in the air as if asking the lord above for help, "Oh please! Give me a sign to where it could be!"
"Hubert," Gandra came down the stairs with a book in hand. Hueys eyes lit up like fireworks when he saw what she had.
"My Junior Woodchuck Guidebook!" Huey took the book before giving her a hug, "Thank you Mami."
"Huey! Rosa! Ready for school?" Fenton called from the kitchen. Huey and his sister both ran into the kitchen and grabbed their lunch bags that Fenton prepared.
"Thanks Papi," Rosa took her lunch and gave her dad a hug. Huey did the same and followed his sister outside of the house.
"Your project Huey," Gandra passed him a folded cardboard on Hueys way out. In the garden, an almost elder lady was watering the plants.
"Patitos, don't forget about me," she called out. The two stopped in their tracks and ran back to her.
"Bye abuelita," the kids said in unison. They gave her a hug and kiss before running off to school.
"Kids these days," Gloria chuckled, "always in a hurry. Wish I had as much free time as they did."
"Need help with today's chores Ma'ma?" Fenton asked her.
"Lots of help," she didn't hesitate to ask, "Can you two do today's laundry?"
At school
In Hueys class, he was jumping up and down in his seat. He couldn't wait to share his project with the entire class.
"Hubert, your turn to share your family….." Before the teacher could even say anything, Huey was already setting up his cardboard. On the front there were drawings and diagrams of his family tree.
"Hello fellow classmates," Huey began, "The name Hubert Crackshell Cabrera! My surname comes from my Papis side of the family ..."
Before he could say anything else, a student raised their hand. Huey pointed at the kid meaning he can talk.
"Isn't Cabrera a Latino surname?" He asked. This caused a bright smile on Hueys face. He gleefully pointed at a picture of his dad on the family tree.
"Yes it is! My father comes from a latin background. Mostly Cuban. My mother is a bit of a mystery but she has said that she has some Indian inheritance. My Papi is the son of Gloria Crackshell Cabrera, who is a descendent of Marshal sheriff Cabrera….." As Huey explained about his family tree, many students looked at him either confused, or even amused. The only one that stayed mutual was a little girl at the back of the class who was intrigued by Hueys background. She jotted down notes and studied the way Huey looked compared to his family. He was rather pale and blond for someone with Latino roots.
After the presentations were done, class was released for lunch. Huey happily took out his lunch that his dad prepared for him. His mouth was watering from the smell of quesadilla con carne asada, topped with smooth cream and yummy guacamole.
"Thank you Papi," Huey chimed but before he could take his first bite, a hand swiped away his food.
"Latin huh?" A pale boy with blond hair and blue eyes had Hueys lunch in his hands. Huey didn't seem fazed at this at all, he just nodded his head happily. The boy looked down at the lunch in his hands before taking a bite. He gagged a bit before finally swallowing the food. He placed the quesadilla back on Hueys plate and spat, "Yuck, why would you add meat to it. It makes the cheese all greasy."
"It's a traditional dish my Papi makes. He…." Huey didn't finish his sentence. The boy grabbed Hueys drink and took a taste. He imeatdally spit it back into the cup when the sour and sweet taste filled his mouth.
"Oh good grieves that's strong," he placed the cup back on the table letting it spill on Huey, "What was that?"
"Agua de Jamaica. It's another Mexican beverage made from water infused with dried flor de Jamaica, Hibiscus flowers…." Huey explained.
"Flowers? You latin people eat flowers?" The boy was still gagging from the taste, "How can you handle eating this?"
"I… I…." Huey was at a loss of words at this point. He tried distracting himself by cleaning up his juice from his shirt.
"Do you really think you belong in a Latin family?" The boy suddenly asked in an aggressive tone.
"Well not 100% if I recall correctly. I did mention in my presentation that I'm a quarter Indian from my mother's side….." His face was smeared with his own lunch, cutting off his sentence.
"Try looking in the mirror once in a while," the boy gave a small chuckle before leaving. Huey tried to clean off everything from his face while holding back some tears.
"You ok?" He heard a little girl's voice. He rubbed the cream and guacamole from his eyes to see one of his classmates. She had dark skin, dark thick curly hair tied into a ponytail and dark eyes.
"Yea, I'm fine," Huey said in a clearly sad voice. He expected the girl to shrug and leave. To just turn her back and leave the situation be. Instead she placed her lunch bag next to his and sat down.
"Napkin?" She offered. Huey slowly took it and wiped off all the food, "Don't mind Abigor, he always picks on kids who he deems below him."
"Below him?" Huey repeated in confusion.
"People of color, lower class, adoption…." She explained. Huey looked down at his hands in some sadness.
"So he doesn't like me cause I'm a person of color?" He asked. The girl didn't show any expression to this. Her eyes scanned his pale skin, blond hair and light eyes. He was very well dressed with clothing she couldn't afford, meaning he couldn't be from a lower class.
"You say you're from a Latino family, correct?" She asked. Huey nodded yes slowly as he said.
"Latin families are common in South America. My parents say I was born here ..." The girl simply nodded yes to this.
"I see…." She took out her notepad and opened it to reveal she had notes on his presentation, "My father and I just moved to South America not too long ago. I've developed quite an interest in Latin culture from the time I've spent here. Mind telling me some more facts?"
This caused a spark of joy in Huey and a smile grew on his face.
"Yea, of course!" He positioned himself to face her and gave out his hand, "I'm Hubert."
"Violet Sabrewing," the girl shook his hand.
As the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, the girl would come over to his house for further studies or just a visit. She showed nothing but great interest in Huey and his family background.
"Your father and mother work in a castle?" Violet was in awe when Huey took her to the kingdom's castle.
"They both work as knights thanks to Tío Panchito y Tío José," Huey explained, "The two gave my parents jobs here and they've worked here for as long as I can remember. My abuelita was also a soldier of this castle. My great great great Grandfather Marshall Sheriff Cabrera was also a man of the law. He was the Sheriff in the old west."
"Incredible," Violet looked at all the portraits of the knights, "What does it take to be a knight?"
"Courage, intelligence, strength," Huey began to list all the qualities he can think of, "a kind heart, and don't lean on your own understanding."
Huey hopped onto a chair and reached for a high shelf. He took out a scroll and sat down in the chair.
"My family has their story written in these scrolls," he explained. In the scroll there were multiple sketches of knights from the past. The one he had in his hands specifically told the story of his parents.
"May I see?" Violet took a spot next to Huey. The little boy gladly accepted and let her hold onto one end of the scroll.
"This is the story of my parents and their journey of being knights. My dad was trained in Duckburg and my mom was trained in St Canard. The two were top of their classes and were the best of the best. One day, there was a battle between Duckburg and St Canard. The battle was so bloody that many knights were lost or killed. My dad was nearly killed in the battle but my mom found him and saved his life. They befriended each other. Soon their feelings grew into something more, they had fallen in love," Huey cooed a bit at this moment. He opened the scroll more and continued reading, "Mom tried to end their battle by talking to her team but her captain was cold hearted. He claimed that she had betrayed St Canard and that she had to kill dad or die trying. When she refused, her team took things into their own hands and attacked my dad. Mom was able to save him again but she was captured by the Duckburg knights by mistake. On the day she was gonna be executed, dad saved her life and convinced the king of Duckburg to end the battle. So the king did as he wished because dad was a trustworthy knight."
"That's a sweet story," Violet commented, "I'm gonna guess that your parents left Duckburg because of the shadow queen that took over."
Huey nodded his head yes at this.
"Mimi y papi were able to escape Duckburg in time. They moved here to South America for a better life." Huey shut the scroll and walked up to some armor that was displayed. He swiped out the sword and swung it around like a knight, "Just watch. One day I'll have a story as epic as my parents. I'll be brave, smart, aaaaaaand….."
When he tried to swing the sword above him, the weight was too much to bear. His back arched and he fell to the ground.
"You ok?" Violet looked down at him. Huey looked up at her with an expression that screamed embarrassment. He pulled his hat on his face to hide his blush.
"I still need training," he said.
"And your training starts now," the kids heard a female voice behind them. Gandra was standing there, fully suited in her armor. Hueys eyes widened when he remembered something.
"Mami! I'm so sorry!" He got up on his feet and ran up to her, "I forgot about my first training session."
"We could tell. Your dad has been waiting at the courtyard for half an hour now. What were you doing that you forgot?" Gandra scolded him. Huey looked down to his feet with an apologetic face.
"I was showing Violet around the castle. She seemed so interested in our culture that I wanted to show her everything," he explained. Gandras angry expressions softened when she looked at the little girl. Violet was trying not to make eye contact with the lady knight, afraid she caused Huey to get in trouble.
"I see," Gandra sighed and talked in a calmer tone, "Let's go Huey. You have a lot of training to get done."
Huey nodded yes and followed his mother down the hall. Gandra stopped in her tracks and looked back at the little girl who was still standing there.
"You can come too kid. If you're interested in learning about battle strategies?" she invited. Violets sparked joy when she said this. The little girl ran up to them and followed.
At the training sessions, Huey was having more than trouble even holding a sword.
"Right leg back, left leg front," Fenton positioned Huey. He lifted Hueys arms to a certain angle so the sword was pointing at the dummy, "Now lunge forward and strike the dummy on the chest."
Huey did as he was told. He threw himself forward so hard that when he missed the dummy, and fell to the ground flat on his face.
"Did I hit it?" Huey mumbled with his face still in the dirt.
At the side of the yard, Gandra was reading to her daughter and a couple of other kids.
"The king gives orders that you must stand guard at the front, but this also leaves the back of the castle exposed for an attack. What do you do?" She asked. Rosa scanned all her notes, trying to find something that'll help her.
"Umm, stay! Obey orders and stay in front?" She said, questioning.
"No way," a girl with curly red hair claimed. This girl was named Gosalyn. After a couple years of moving to South America, Drake found the girl being kidnapped from the orphanage. In a heartbeat, he was able to save her and ever since, Gosalyn grew an attachment to Drake. Her adoption papers are in progress but once they're done, she'll be Drake's official daughter, "The castle must be protected at all times. Go to the back and protect! Swing that sword to any enemy that passes by!"
"Wouldn't it just be best to inform the captain about the weak spot?" Violet finally answered, "The captain must be aware of every situation in order to figure out a plan."
Gandra pointed at Violet to confirm her answer.
"The captain can't be left in the dark when it comes to battle. Inform him or her of everything that's going on." Gandra said.
"I don't think being a knight is my thing," Rosa sighed in disappointment. She pushed her notes away and let herself fall back on the ground, "Maybe I'm best staying at home helping abuelita take care of the house."
"Why would you want to be stuffed inside a house all day?" Gosalyn claimed, "Going out and fighting in battles is the life of an adventure!"
"We all have our preference, Gosalyn," Gandra commented. She tried to sit her back down and continued on the lesson, "Not everyone is fit for battle. We have different talents that match different tasks. It's up to you to find out what fits you best. Stay open to new ideas and don't let anyone hold you down or tell you otherwise."
A scream of pain then caught everyone's attention. They turned to see Fenton on the ground, rubbing his side in pain. Huey stayed looking at him, sword in hand and a worried face.
"You said hit the side," Huey commented.
"I meant the dummy," Fenton said. He lifted himself back up but Huey was still feeling bad.
"Sorry papi," Huey let his sword fall and walked away. He took a seat next to Gandra and looked down in disappointment, "I always thought I would be able to be a knight. A hero like you and mami."
"Don't say that Huey," Fenton took a seat next to him. He wrapped his arms around the kid and gave him a comforting hug, "You just need practice. And even if you don't become a knight, the family will still support you."
"But I do want to be a knight," Huey claimed, "More than anything. I want to be just like you, like mami, y abuelita! But it's weird sometimes ..."
Fenton cocked his head to the side when he said this. Gandra did the same before speaking.
"Weird how?"
"I…. It's just weird. Like I'm too different to even be part of this family," the moment Huey said this, Fenton and Gandra looked at one another with worried faces. They knew Huey had to find out eventually about Della. About Donald, the kingdom, and his brothers. But he was too young right now. Right now he needed them to keep him safe. Fenton stood up from his seat and grabbed onto Hueys hand.
"Let's go Huey," He said. Huey hopped onto his feet and followed him along with everyone else.
"Where?" The little 6 year old asked. His father didn't say a thing. He just held onto his little hand and took him on a tour of their kingdom. Huey. People were selling their goods, musicians filled the atmosphere with sweet music and people danced around. Fenton pulled the little boy to a group of people playing music. Two of them being Panchito on the guitar and Jose.
"Mira, por aquí y por allá! Our friends and family is all you need," Fenton told the young boy. He watched as Jose and Panchito happily played their instruments and plucked on the strings. "There's so much here to love and so many people who love you. Our family is full of soul and passion for many things like music. They are always singing to a heartfilled song."
"Canta con tu alma, canta con tu corazón!" Panchito said to him. Huey gave a small smile from the sentence.
At the castle's garden, Huey was practicing his fencing with his little sister Rosa. The little girl had her eyes shut tight and was stiff as a board. Right when Huey was gonna smack her head, Fenton took the sword away.
"Take it easy! Tradition may be our mission but take your time. It's not like you're leaving us soon. Home is our favorite place to be, to learn from family." He pulled Huey to a seat where his friends and family were. Everyone was cooking, eating, or playing.
"And as a family we show our love in different ways. Like sharing everything we make," Gloria told Huey as she placed a plate of food in front of him. Huey gleamed at the food and began eating it even before his grandma placed it on the table.
As he ate, he felt a familiar man ruffle his hair.
"We fight for one another. Like soldiers who help us stand high," Drake told him and took a seat next to Gosalyn and Launchpad.
"But when will I get good at fighting," Huey mumbled to himself. He still felt saddened that he wasn't as good as his parents. He was scared that he would never be like them. He was determined to practice hard so once he finished his food, he grabbed Fentons sword from his belt to practice more. He held it up and tried to practice by striking the table. Epic fail. The weight once again made him fall towards the ground. Gandra was quick to place her hands under his back to keep him from falling while Fenton took the sword.
"You'll have your chance Huey, just be a little patient," Fenton put the sword back in his belt, "You won't be alone. You'll always have us to help."
Years later, Huey is now 10 years old, Gosalyn has been fully adopted, Gandra is expecting another kid, Drake met a new lady named Morgana, and Panchito adopted a dog for Huey to take care of. Saying it's a good way for Huey to learn how to protect a living being. It would've been nice if Panchito told Fenton or Gandra about it so they could've at least been prepared for a dog. In the castle, Fenton took the little boy across the halls where he could see all the portraits. Paintings of knights in the past and scrolls that held their stories.
"Being a hero isn't just about the fighting and skills. It's also about recognizing our legacy. Telling the stories of our ancestors triumph and glory. These walls tell their stories and one day, they'll tell your story." Fenton made sure to tell his son.
Huey beamed at the sight of a portrait. It had everyone he knew. Drake, Morgana, Fenton, Gandra, Gloria, the dogs, Gosalyn, Launchpad, his sisters Rosa and Alma, Manny, Panchito and Jose. In the middle was him and Violet, smiling as the portrait was being done. He adored the fact that he had a big family. While most of them weren't even blood related, they were still considered family. His família.
At the house in the garden, they were having a small get together. Huey was again practicing his sword skills with Manny. While he has improved, he still needs work. He jabbed his sword at Manny but when he moved aside, Huey lost balance and fell.
"Consider your weaknesses." Huey looked up at Fenton confused. Fenton pulled Huey back up to his feet and positioned him in the right way. "Consider your strengths. Learn from your weaknesses and embrace your strengths."
Manny again positioned himself to train and waited for Huey to strike. He lost balance once again but was pulled up by his grandma before he could hit the floor.
"Remember patito. Whenever you feel weak, your family will be your sword and your home is your shield," Gloria told him. She kept her hands close to Huey and helped him lunge an attack. " and your friends will help you wield the courage that's inside."
Finally, Huey was able to at least keep his balance and not lose his footing. His family applaud him, fueling him with happiness and pride. His family gives him what he needs. He was safe and we're well provided.
Everyone was sitting down to eat. Before Huey could sit, he took notice that there was one person missing. He looked to his sides, trying to see if he could find her. Having an idea where she might be, Huey ran out of the garden. He went far back towards the lake. As he ran off, he gained a lot of strange looks, nothing unusual. He was used to being the odd one in school.
Just as he thought, Gandra was working on an invention of hers by the lake. It looked like something that helped wash clothes. Most likely made to help Gloria with her laundry.
Huey wasn't made fun of for standing out in his latin family alone. He was also teased for having parents who loved making these wacky inventions. Huey ran up to the new invention and looked in awe. Gandra gave a bright smile seeing him so impressed. She was more than aware about the teasing to her family but she didn't want that to drag Huey down. She wanted him to be proud of his family.
"We don't think like the others," She began. She sat Huey down with her and admired the motion of the new invention. "Ideas come like the wave and we just have to put them in action. Yeah I've been called mischievous and that I misbehave but what's so fun about playing things safe? People may call us crazy and that our minds drift too far but once you know what your passion is don't let it go."
More years have passed. Huey is just turning 15 today and to celebrate, they were having a party at the castle. Huey was helping his mother on a new invention by the lake. This time they were working on a way to make boats move faster. A super engine is what they called it. Gandra watched her adoptive son build the boat. 15 years, she has been raising this little prince for 15 years. And he still believed he's her biological son. She sat on the grass, thinking deeply about this. Was now a good time to tell him? Huey fell into the lake when the engine he made caused the boat to race away. Gandra helped the boy back onto land and helped him dry off.
"Huey, I have to tell you something," Gandra hesitantly talked and passed Huey a towel. Huey looked at her with his usual eye's full of couritity. He looked so young, with a mind just craving for new knowledge. She took a deep breath in before speaking.
"No matter what happens or what you hear, you will always be our son. So intelligent and full of potential." She led him back to the house. She didn't feel ready to tell him yet. Not on his 15th birthday. But she still needed to prepare him, she just didn't know how.
Huey on the other hand couldn't be any happier. He wasn't gonna let teasing, odd looks or anything drive him away from his family.
"What's this?" Gandra noticed Huey had a book sticking out of his backpack. She took it out and read the title out loud, "Poetry and creative writing."
"Oh that's Violets," Huey took the book back. He held it close to his chest and said, "I see her everyday at the kingdoms library. I was borrowing this book for a couple of days."
"You've been getting pretty close to this girl don't you think?" Gandra wasn't really trying to tease him. Huey choked a bit on his words as he said.
"I.. I… I mean yeah. We are good friends," at a turn, Huey took a right while Gandra kept going straight. She gave him one last hug before they departed.
"Be at the castle before 5 today. Don't want you to miss your party," Gandra made sure to tell him. Huey nodded and ran off to the library.
As usual, Violet was sitting at a table near the back waiting for him. He happily went to her and set his backpack down.
"Hey Vi," Huey said rather eagerly, gaining him a shush from the librarian. He lowered his voice a bit and repeated, "Hey vi."
"Hubert," she greeted.
"I brought back the book I borrowed," Huey handed her the book of poems, "Thanks again for letting me use it. I also took some notes starting on page 6 if you want to see them."
"Notes?" Violet repeated. She opened the book and looked for them. Huey nervously took a seat next to her and watched as she flipped the pages. Every second she looked caused more and more nerves to build up.
On page 6 was a little note that quoted the poem.
Do you think I'm trusty and faithful?
The note then told her to go to another page. At that page waited another note. Again, it was a quote from the poem that was on the page.
You grew up with me, were a boy with me or a girl with me,
Next page
I thank you, kind and best beloved friend.
It is important to stay sweet and loving.
...you do not know how longingly I look upon you,
You've so distracted me,
Laying in bed, I think of you,
With every page she flipped and every note she read, Huey could feel his heart race faster. He swore it was gonna burst out of his chest.
Her eyes scanned every note he left but her expression didn't seem to change. She just kept on reading the quotes Huey picked out from each poem. The one thing she noticed about all the poems Huey picked out was that they were all love poems. She finally came to the last page where one more note waited for her.
Date?
Her eyes slowly moved away from the book and to a now red faced Huey. He had his face buried in a random book he grabbed.
"You have the book upside down," Violet noticed.
"Oh right," Huey nervously put it right side up and chuckled, "Um…. too cheesy?"
"A bit," Violet gave a chuckle. She scooted a little closer to the red dressed boy causing him to tense up, "But also sweet."
The last words cause Huey to perk up. He looked away from the book and back to her. She was giving a sweet smile with kind dark eyes. He didn't need any words to know this was a yes.
At the castle, the castle garden was full. People were hitting onto the tables to the beat of the music. People were dancing around to the sounds of the drums and guitars, singing and watching as Huey made his way across the garden. He was now 15, just 3 more years until he can be an official knight and join the team. His friends and family moved aside, making a path for him to walk. Huey repeated his family's words in his mind.
Your family will be your sword
Your home is your shield
Your friends will help you wield
The courage that's inside
Ones front and center in the garden. Fenton helped his son to stand on a high table. Huey looked down at everyone and gave a bright smile. A smile that said he was excited to be here with everyone but also nervous. Gandra handed him a sword while Fenton handed him a shield to hold. Huey looked down at him to which Fenton replied by mouthing the words.
"The family believes in you,"
Taking in a deep breath, Huey prepared to say...
"I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me and being with me today. Just three years and my training will be complete. So what I want to say is, no matter what happens in the future, here I'll stand. With my home and my family beside me. Unafraid. Because who will I think of tomorrow?"
"Família!" The whole party shouted and cheered.
He held his shield high up and hit the front of it with his sword. Causing a powerful sound signifying his strength.
"Can't hear you!" Huey joked.
"Família!" The crowd cheered.
"When I'm a knight, I'll be your sword! And I'll have my home to shield me! Who'll help me wield my courage?"
"Familia," the crowd cheered again even louder.
"And when I'm far away, who will I always come back to?" Huey asked, causing the crowd to cheer even louder.
"Família,"
"Who do I have my happiness with?"
"FAMÍLIA!" The crowd nearly broke the boys ear drums. But he didn't mind. He couldn't ask for a better family cause his was perfect.
Through the years, Huey trained to his fullest. He trained at the castle 2 hours a day, helped his family with the harvest, took care of his siblings and did whatever he could to help around. Today was a special day. He was turning 17. He was told to invite anyone he knew from his school but that was gonna be a problem for him.
"Your way to nieve," a boy crumbled up the invitation and tossed it to the trash. Huey just sighed. This wasn't the first time he was bullied. All his life he was given these odd comments.
"A Latin party? Look in the mirror will you?"
"So your mix?"
"You're a joke to your culture."
"What are you? No like what's your race?"
"Are you sure your parents didn't find you in the forest or something."
"Your family? That's a cruel joke right?," Abigor was the worst bully of them all. He pushed Huey around almost everyday of his life. He left horrible comments as much as he left bruises.
"Joke? No, my family is no joke ..."
"Your family hasn't told you? It's so obvious," Abigor chuckled, "You and your family are a joke to this entire kingdom you know that? Your dad and mom are total freaks with those gizmos they make."
Huey clutched onto his invitations, feeling annoyed by his comments.
"My family isn't a laughing matter. I don't know why you're so against me Abigor. Ever since we were kids you always picked on me. Why don't you grow up and move on?" Huey tried to leave with that but Abigor wasn't having any of it. He clutched onto Hueys shirt and threw him against the school's wall.
"So you think you're the bigger man huh? You mind saying that to my face again?" He didn't ask, he was daring Huey to do it.
"Leave him alone Abigor," Violet came to the scene. She pulled Huey aside and wedged herself between the two boys, "He's more of a man than you'll ever be."
"Oh I'm sorry," Abigor put air quotes on sorry. Violet just ignored him and faced Huey. She fixed his hat and asked him if he was ok, "I guess a real man has his little black servant fight his battles for him."
The shocked expression on Violet's face was beyond noticeable. Seeing this, Huey went around her and was just about to open his mouth to fight back.
"Hubert don't…." Violet tried to pull him back but that wasn't happening.
"You say something like that one more time and I'll…."
"You'll what?" Abigor dared him to finish that sentence, "Your nothing but a naive, confused little boy who doesn't know where he belongs."
"That's enough Abigor!" Violet wedged herself between them again and tried to hold Huey back, "If you keep treating Hubert like this, I'll be sure to tell the principle and have you …."
She didn't have time to even finish her sentence. Abigor shouted at her to be quiet and shoved her to the ground. That was the last move to finally release the Duke of Destruction.
10 minutes later
"What is going on here?" The principle was called over by a student. The first thing she saw when she went to the hall was a shattered window. Outside she could see Abigor dangling from a tree. He looked extremely beat up. His hair was a mess, his clothes were so torn that his shirt was ripped into two. He cried out for help, showing nothing but fear.
Below the tree, Violet was holding back a fuming Huey.
"Get down here and fight you coward!" Huey shook his fist at him. He was ready to climb the tree himself or better yet, tear it apart with his bare hands. The only thing that was holding him back was that he didn't want to hurt Violet. She held onto him as tightly as she could and tried to calm him down.
"Hubert it's ok," she tried to say, "I'm not badly hurt! Just calm down!"
"I will destroy you!" It was as if Huey couldn't hear his girlfriend's pleas, "You hear me? Destroy you with a capital D!"
"Hubert can't you see you already won the fight?" Violet tried to talk him out of his rage.
"No one will talk that way to anyone I care about! And get away with it! I'm gonna rip you apart one by one! Then beat you into dust with your very own limbs!"
20 minutes later
The three were just coming out of the principles office, each with a yellow slip in hand.
"You two are just lucky she let you off with a warning," Abigor mumbled.
"You got the same lecture as we did," Violet talked back.
"You wanna repeat th…." Abigor took some steps towards her, ready to throw fists again. He only stopped in his tracks when Huey pushed Violet behind him, ready for another fight.
"Whatever," were Abigors last words to them. He walked away and headed home.
"Did I go far?" Huey asked after taking a deep breath in.
"Mmmm…. Just a tad," Violet jokes, "But I'm sure he won't be bothering you again."
Huey smiled at this thought. It would be nice to have some peace at school now, but what about the other people who leave strange comments? Honestly, he shouldn't worry about those things. His family was his. He grew up with them and that's all he needs.
At the harvest, Panchito and his family were plucking cocoa beans from the trees. He had invited Huey and Violet to help. They wanted to get some chocolate ready for Hueys 17th birthday party.
"Here comes some more!" Panchito called out as he and some others tossed down some cocoa beans. Everyone below held up their baskets, catching every single one. Huey and Violet were a part of it. The two ran under all the trees, catching as many beans as their basket could hold.
"I got them!" Huey ran around, struggling to catch them all. He zigged zagged around, not letting a single one fall to the ground. The more he ran the faster the beans seemed to be coming down, "I got them I got them I got them! Ah!"
A cocoa bean hit his head causing him to stop and faint. Violet cringed at the sight and looked down at him.
"You ok?"
"Yep," Huey moaned in pain.
At the park where the birthday party was gonna be held, Huey was helping set up the tables.
"Can you go find your little sister?" Gloria told Huey, "Alma was supposed to be back from her bike ride by now."
"Yes abuelita," Huey ran to the hills looking for the little girl.
"Alma!? Dónde estás!?" Huey called out to his little sister. In a blink of an eye, a little girl around 7 swung in front him, hanging upside down from a nearby tree branch. Huey let out a short scream when she startled him.
"Hola hermano!" The little girl giggled from her brother's reactions. Huey looked up at the tree she was in and helped her down.
"Alma, you're gonna fall if you're not careful," Alma let herself fall into Hueys arms and he put her down.
"I'm fine hermano, sheesh. You barely turn 17 and you already act like a strict protective adult," Huey placed his fist onto his hips when she said this. He raised an eyebrow at her before speaking.
"I'm your big brother. Of course I'm gonna be worrying about your well-being," Alma just rolled her eyes at this before picking up her bike, "Where are you going?"
"To the birthday party," Alma looked back at him, "Remember we promised mami y papi that we would help them set up."
"Oh right," Huey dashed past his little sister and ran down the hill, "Last one there is a rotten egg!"
"Huey!" Alma went after him in delight. Down at the hill, Fenton was setting up the tables with Gandras help.
"I got the food ready pollito," Gloria set the food on the food table.
"Thanks Ma'ma. Huey and Alma should be here any…." Before Fenton can say anything else, a dash of red rammed into the table and knocked all the cups and plates.
"Ow! Should've slowed down," Huey mumbled in pain. More pain was to come the moment Alma came in and ran over Huey with her bike, "Alma!"
Huey stood up in pain.
"Hubert," he heard Fenton's voice say his name in a warning tone. He nervously looked behind him to see the destroyed table and an angry Fenton and Gandra.
"Hehe, sorry mama, papa," he apologized nervously.
"Instead of rushing around like a bunch of maniacs, can you kids help set up," Gandra picked up everything that fell on the ground.
"Sí mami," Huey was quick to help.
It was night time and the birthday party had started. Some people were eating, some were playing, some were just trying not to die.
"Donde está! Where is that little candy filled fancy box?" A blind folded Gosalyn swung her bat like crazy. She wasn't even close to hitting the piñata. Many people ducked, dodged or just got hit where it hurts the most.
"Ya la disteis uno ya la disteis dos ya la disteis tres, su tiempo se cavó!" Gloria quickly finished the rhyme and tried to take the bat away.
"Hold on! Just give me a hint where the thing is!" Gosalyn swung the bat harder trying to hit the decorative piñata.
"Gosalyn stop!" Drake tried to tell her but it was too late. She swung the bat and finally hit something.
"Ow!" Launchpad was hit in the gut. He let go of the rope that held the piñata causing it to fall.
When the piñata hit the ground it spilled all its candy. The cheers of children and the sound of running was music to Gosalyns ears. She ripped off her blind fold and dived right in.
"You ok buddy?" Drake helped Launchpad onto his feet.
"I'm gonna feel that in the morning," he claimed.
The children were animals. They ripped at eachothers throats, trying to get their hands on any sweet they saw.
"Ok ok," Morgana tried to call over everyone's cheers and cries of pain, "Who wants cake?"
Everyone cheered and ran to the table. Huey eagerly watched as Jose lit up the candles.
"Make a wish patito," Gloria told him. Huey glanced at his candles and thought about what he could want. What could he want?
He had a father and mother who loved and supported him. A kind hearted girlfriend who saw the good in him. Friends who adore him and most of all, a beautiful family. He loved his life and couldn't think of anything he wanted to change. He closed his eyes, thought of all his blessings, and blew out his candles.
The sound of clapping and cheering filled his ears. Soon enough, a voice he didn't recognize joined in. Only it wasn't cheering or congratulating him. It was singing a familiar tune. His eyes lifted from the cake and scanned everyone around him. No one was singing, no one at all.
"You ok Hubert?" He almost didn't hear Violet ask him. Huey looked over at her. She clearly saw the confusion in his face.
"Yeah…. I'm fine," Huey assured her.
Well that's that. If you are interested in reading the musical version, it's on Wattpad with the same name and same author, me. Also, the time set is in the 1930s for this story.
