Hi and Happy Halloween. So yeah, sorry for the long long loooooooooooong wait. I went through something pretty traumatizing and heartbreaking to the point where I couldn't stop hurting and crying for weeks. I didn't even have any strength to type reviews for any stories. I won't reply to reviews today because I still feel really heartbroken. And sorry if this chapter is short. But I will say this...
Thank you so much to Jeffrey ( Jpbake ) and Jordan. You two had to deal with my sudden emotional outburst and I'm sorry I made you two read like 20 pages of me venting. You two are the only ones on this site that knows what happened to me in detail and I can't thank the two of you enough for dealing with me. I know I'm not afraid to show my emotions and my emotions are... giant. Love you both so much I can't stop saying it. I hope you two don't think any less of me now that you know what happened to me. I just want to keep talking to you both even though I'm pretty upset and broken. I hope me being emotional doesn't scare you away because you're both the greatest men I ever met my whole life. Love you Jeffrey, you are the one friend I've known the longest and you had to deal with me the most. Love you Jordan, you really gave me a push I needed in life and I can't thank you enough. I hope you both can deal with me at my lowest or at least not distance yourself from me.
Ok now that all the mushy emotions are off my chest, on with the story...
"Hubert? Hubert!" Violet shook him awake.
"What!?" Huey, startled from the loud tone of her voice, fell off his bed. He kicked the blankets away and looked out the window to see the sun rising.
"If you sleep in you're going to miss the tour of the three kingdoms," Violet reminded him.
"Oh right!" Huey hopped on his feet and scrambled around for his uniform, "Sorry Vi, I was kinda up all night yesterday."
Violet cocked her head to the side as she watched him enter the bathroom, "You didn't let those bullies words decrease your amount of self esteem you did you?"
"No, of course not," Huey sounded a bit hesitant in answering, "Why would I. I'm just a little nervous about today."
"Nervous?" Violet questioned. Huey came out of the bathroom in his uniform but he still appeared tired in Violet's eyes, "You were the one that begged your parent's twenty-four seven to sign the permission slip. Why are you nervous?"
Huey slowed down a bit at this question. He was slowly packing his things in his backpack thinking about last night. The way that boy looked. Same blond, almost white hair, the same eye's, the same facial features, it was like looking into a mirror. He shook his head and placed his backpack over his shoulders.
"Just nervous... you know. It's not everyday we get to see kingdoms that are so locked down their basically concentration camps right?" Huey tried to cover up. Violet didn't pick up on anything off about him so she simply shook it off too.
"Woodchuckers role call!" They heard their camp leader call out. The two hurried out of the cabin and ran to the group. After a good while, the whole camp was waiting by a doc, watching as three boats carefully parked nearby.
"Welcome aboard!" A loud and chirpy teenage boy voice came from the first boat's megaphone "Dewford Dingus Duck is the name and captain is my game!"
"Alright! Everyone knows the drill," Launchpad hopped on the first boat, "Senior WoodChucks come with me, Senior Junior WoodChucks on the second boat with Fenton and Junior Woodchucks on the last boat with Gandra."
"See you after the tour," Huey waved goodbye to Violet who hopped in the first boat with the other Senior Woodchucks.
"Have an exceptional time Hubert,' Violet waved as the boat began to leave the doc.
Huey hopped in the second boat with the other Senior Junior Woodchucks and made sure to get a seat near front and center.
"Careful kids, watch your step. There may be some puddles here and there," a distorted man's voice came from the second boat's megaphone, "My name is Donald Duck and I'll be your captain for this tour."
Fenton basically froze on the spot when he heard the name. His mind began to race from all the memories he had of the castle. Of the prince, king, his days as a knight in Duckburg.
"Donald?" Fenton looked up at the mega phone and thought for a moment. After a short while, he shook his head, "No, Donald is a common name. Besides, he most likely got killed by the shadows right?"
With that thought in mind, Fenton took out his notes and stood front and center where all the campers could see him.
On the third boat, Rosa was being all giddy that she could nearly rock the boat herself. Gandra took out her notes as well and looked over what she wrote about St Canard.
"Hello my dears! I'm your captain for the day and the name Daisy Duck. But please, call me Daisy," the female voice spoke from the mega phone catching Gandras attention.
"Daisy?" She mumbled to herself. She looked at the mega phone and thought to herself some more, "Daisy Duck? I thought the shadows got to her."
"Mami!" Rosa nearly knocked Gandra off her feet at how sudden she jumped in front of her. She did however drop a few notes, "When's the tour starting?"
"In a minute sweet heart," Gandra picked up her notes, "Just take a seat. I need to check something first."
Her daughter happily nodded and sat on a seat hugging her back pack excitedly. Gandra looked down at her notes again and turned to a certain page.
When I was in Duckburg, I was expecting my first daughter Rosa...
Gandra sighed at this. She couldn't say that, as far as Huey knew, she was expecting him when they escaped Duckburg and then they had Rosa. She crumbled that note into her pocket and straightened her posture. She took a deep breath in and relayed her presentation in her head. She had to be careful if she was going to keep Hueys adoption a secret.
On the first boat, Violet was happily taking notes on everything Launchpad was saying.
"I grew up in Duckburg. Before I was assigned as the king's personal transportation, I used to test out airplanes just like my old folks. Sure I crashed a couple and built up some debut, but when I was just a teen, King Scrooge took me in. Saying he saw some potential in me as his driver and pilots," Launchpad explained. From inside the boat, Dewey could hear everything. His eyes lit up at the new information he was learning.
On the second boat, Fenton was happily explaining his experience as a knight in Duckburg.
"And then, the witch called Magica De Spell, raised the shadows from the ground. If you look down, you'll see that I don't even have my shadow," Fenton explained. Everyone looked down to see it was true. He had no shadow causing many questions and hands to go up.
"Oh oh!" A boy wanted to ask his question, "Do all the citizens of Duckburg lose their shadows or do some keep them?"
"Excellent question! Usually, newborns and toddlers keep their shadows. It isn't until they reach a certain age, let's say 10 years old, when their shadows become self conscious and leave to become Magica De Spells servant. Reason? Magica wants strong soldiers in her castle and a baby's shadow isn't exactly what she needs."
Huey glady jolted this down. He was happy to learn about Fentons past in more detail. He rarely ever talked about the shadow envision due to how traumatizing it was.
Donald, from inside the boat, couldn't help but look out the window to look at Fenton. The sailor cocked his head to the side, trying to figure out if what he was seeing was real.
"Fenton?" Donald couldn't believe it. If he was here, then that should mean that one of his nephews must be alive! Donald made a note to himself to catch the man after the tour to see if it was really him.
On the third boat, Daisy was having trouble steering the boat. She couldn't help but look at Gandra.
"Is it really her?" Daisy thought out loud. She glanced at the group of kids and spotted Rosa clinging onto her notebook and excitedly writing notes, "Her daughter!"
"And when the search for non Duckburg citizen's happened, I was expecting my first child Hubert," Gandra explained. Daisy looked a little confused by this miss information. She was expecting her daughter, not Hubert.
"Who's Hubert?" Daisy thought out loud.
As minutes turned to hours, the tour was finally over. Dewey happily watched as everyone hopped off the boat. He opened his window so he could poke his head out. Right there, just a few feet away from him, was land. And not just any land, new land. Land he has never set foot on because of the stupid law that said if he did he would be arrested. He sighed as he watched all the kids happily run off to play in the dirt, leaves and just run around. He was envious of them. Those kids will never know just how lucky they are to even have this freedom.
"That was amazing!" Dewey heard a cheerful voice. He smiled at just the sound of the campers being so happy. He only wished he had that same happiness, but he already had more freedom than most people in Cape Suzette. Not everyone could travel through the waters kike him.
Dewey looked at where he heard the voice to see a boy happily skipping off the boat and to his friends. Dewey squinted his eyes when he saw this boy. He couldn't see much of the boy because his hat was covering most of his face but something about him looked familiar.
"Hubert!" A girl ran over to him and gave him a hug. She happily showed him her notes while another girl came and tackled him into a hug.
"Hermanito!" The girl laughed as she pushed all her weight on him, causing his hat to fall off. There, right there Dewey could get a better look at this Hubert guy. He really was familiar looking because he had the same face as him. Deweys eyes widened at this sight causing him to rub his eyes in shock. Once he glanced back at where Huebert was, he was already being dragged away by the two girls.
"Huh, weird," Dewey thought out loud.
At the camp, campers were happily eating while Huey was in the kitchen helping with the cooking. Huey was babbling about everything he just learned for a good while now.
"I never knew that you lost your shadow at a certain age. Wait, does this mean that you and papi will never get your shadows back?" Huey asked Gandra.
"Not as long as Magica stays on the throne," Gandra answered.
"Do you think anyone will ever stand up to the queen?" Huey asked.
"Perhaps one day," Gandra answered again.
She did wish someone would stand up to Magica. Some one who has a chance at setting the kingdom free but that was too much to ask for. No one was strong enough to face the queen herself. She was too powerful and held the throne for years now. Sure there was the prophecy about how one day the queen will meet her end but for all she knew, those hero's could be years away from being born. She just had to accept the fact that she might not live to see the day when Magica does fall. Her main worry now was to keep Huey and her family safe and sound.
Huey could tell right away how his mother was feeling. He knew these topics were tough on her. She lost her home, her friends and everything she's ever known. So her dry responses weren't a surprise. He didn't like seeing her stress herself over these types of things. He tried to think of a few things to talk about. Anything that might catch her attention.
"You know mami, the craziest thing just happened to me yesterday night," Huey began to talk about it.
"Really? Bigfoot sighting? Nessie? Aliens?" Gandra asked as if it was normal for them.
"Crazier! I saw another boy," Huey claimed. Gandra was just confused at this point.
"Uh, not actually crazy. You see boys every day ..."
"But not any boy, a boy that looked exactly like me," right after Huey said this, Gandra felt her body tense as she let the carrots fall into the pot.
"Exactly like you?" Gandra tried to hide her worry.
"Yea! Well, not exactly. He wasn't as well built as me, and his haircut was slightly different, but he looked just like me! And I sat in my cabin wondering what I just saw. After a while I came to a conclusion ..." This worried Gandra even more. Huey wasn't aware of her worry as he kept talking, "An alternate version of myself must've found its way into our dimension!"
"What?" Gandra was even more confused and turned around to look at him
"Think about it! We're just little spect compared to the universe. We can't be the only dimension can we? Every decision we make affects our future but what if we made a different decision. What if there's another us that made a different decision and created a whole new timeline for themself. The one I saw could be me if we lived in Duckburg..."
"Duckburg!?" He heard Gandra suddenly raise her voice. Huey stopped in mid sentence before realizing his mistake. Oh boy, he was in for it, wasn't he?
"Hubert Crackshell Cabrera!" There's his full name, yep, he was in for it, "You didn't cross the border to Duckburg did you!?"
"No no no, of course not mami..." Huey tried to explain but it was kinda hard when Gandra started to circle around him, looking at the ground for some reason. When she saw he still had his shadow, she stopped in front of him and continued to listen to him, "Rosa dropped her necklace at the river, and I hopped in to get it for her and the river led me to a fence that divided Duckburg and our camp. That's how I saw the other me. He was on the other side of the fence ..."
"What did he say to you?!" Gandra suddenly started asking, "What did he do to you!? Who was with him!?"
"Nothing, nothing at all. Before he could tell me anything I ran off. No one was with him," Huey answered.
"Don't you dare get close to that fence ever again! You hear me Huey!?" Gandra grabbed his shoulders and made him face her. Huey gulped down his worry when he saw the fear and anger in her eyes. He's never seen her so scared in his life. It was like she was so close to death or someone she loved was about to die.
"Ok... I... I won't go near it again," Huey promised. He felt Gandra pull him into a tight hug, a hug that felt like she didn't want to let go.
"Thank you," Gandra said almost out of breath. She hesitantly let him go and right away Huey could tell she was scared. Her hands were shaking and her body was tense. Huey felt guilty when he saw how he made her feel. She was clearly terrified for a reason unknown to him.
"I'm sorry mami," Huey tried to apologise, "I didn't know that..."
"It's ok Huey," Gandra went back to cooking instantly, "Just don't go near that horrible place again."
"I won't," Huey assured her again. He couldn't figure out why she was so scared of him being so close to Duckburg. Yeah it's a horrible place but it wasn't like he was going to enter the place. What was going to happen, was someone going to kidnap him if he got too close?
In Duckburg
"I know you were out past your curfew Louie," Goldie scolded her son. The green dressed boy was sitting on the coach, his chin resting on his palm.
"I didn't do anything," Louie argued. Goldie simply gave him a glare before explaining.
"I went to your room at 9 pm to check on you and you were gone," Goldie revealed making Louie sink deeper in the coach, "From the looks of it, it must've been important if you didn't even bother leaving a decoy or something to replace you in bed. Amateur mistake I might add."
"I... Kinda was distracted," Louie mumbbled.
"By what?" Goldie demanded to know. Louie just sighed and thought of how to explain this.
What was he suppose to say? Hey mom, I'm hearing this humming voice every night and I've been trying to find out where it's coming from for days now. I'm not crazy! I swear! Yeah right, with that response he would get sent to a mental hospital in no time.
"I just wanted to dig up some more gold. You know how we usually dig at the east side of the kingdom and find tons of gold. I went there and explored further the path. You know, to dig in places we haven't searched for," Louie lied. His mono tone was enough to hide what he was really feeling. Which is something Goldie sometimes hated. With that tone it was always a challenge to know what he was thinking. But knowing Louie, there was more
"Lewellen?" Goldie said his name one more time. This time making sure she stretched his name in a warning tone. Louie cringed at the sound of his full name. This couldn't be good.
"Fine, I found a fence," he admitted.
"A fence." Goldie asked blankly. What was the deal with the fence?
"Yea, a fence," Louie continued, "it looked really beat up so I thought I would climb up it and see what I could find on the other side. I climbed the tree but stopped when I noticed another boy was nearby. On the other side of the fence more like it ..."
"Go on," Goldie sounded suspicious of this explanation leaving Louie some worry. She sat down on the coach before him and continued to drink from her teacup.
"And, well, He looked like me," Goldie nearly drowned in her tea when she heard this.
"Like what?!" Goldie shrieked the best she could with a mouth full of tea. She spat the liquid back out, unable to swallow from shock.
"He looked like me," Louie repeated. He could barely see some fear start to form in Goldie's eyes. She sprung from her seat and looked directly at her son's eyes. Louie could see the anger in her green eyes, but most of all, he could see fear forming within them.
"Did he see you?! What was he wearing?! Where is he now!?" Goldie demanded like a police officer to a criminal.
"I fell from the tree and he saw me but ran away shortly after. He was wearing some kind of boy scout outfit but I don't know where he went.
"It can't be," Goldie backed away from Louie and paced around the room like crazy. She had worried all over her body. Her finger resting on her lip as she faced down deep in thought, "It couldn't be him, it can't."
"Can't be what?" Louie didn't get an answer from his mom, just more questions.
"Did that fence lead to another kingdom?"
"Uh, no. I don't think it did. It just looked like empty land," Louie felt his mom grab him by the shoulders and give him a good shake.
"Louie you could've been seen by one of those shadow creatures guarding the boarders! How did you even get that close to it?!"
"I- I- I don't know," Louie stuttered on his tongue, "I was looking at the east side like I always do."
"That's it!" Goldie let go of Louie and turned her back on him to think some more, "From now on we're never going hunting in that area ever again," Goldie made sure to tell her son.
"Why? It was just a boy like me," Louie tried to understand.
"Exactly like you!" Goldie cleared up, "That's not natural! There can't be anyone who looks identical to you! It's impossible! Utterly impossible! No! You are prohibited from going to that area ever again! You hear me Llewellyn O Gilt!?" When she said his full name Louie knew this was serious.
"Ok mama, whatever you say," Louie sounded a little worried for her. Never did Goldie show such fear in her eyes. It was like she was going go insane or snap.
"I..." Goldie took a deep breath and slowly let go of Louie. Her green eyes scanned the young man before gulping down what he assumed we fear. In a shaky voice she spoke, "I have to take a walk. Please Louie, stay away from that fence, I can't lose you."
All Louie could right now was nod yes and watch as his mom walked away to get her coat and leave.
Well short and not very eventful but there will be something next time. Sorry for any mistakes, I'm still trying to get back to writing but I'm still low on energy. Thank you all for reading.
