In the class 2B dormitories, a few of the girls were hanging out in their common lounge in their comfortable clothes. "I'm so happy that Sato asked me to the gala!" Kodai exclaimed.
"This is an exciting time for all of us," Reiko added.
"I can't believe you agreed to Shoji, Reiko. He's scary!" Pony said.
"I don't think so. Besides, I know what it's like to have a "scary" quirk," she replied.
"I should be scared. That little grape guy asked me to the gala," Komori said.
"Oh my god, are you going to accept?" Kodai asked.
Komori sighed. "I'm still thinking about it. It would be cool to go, but it's Mineta." The girls stuck out their tongues in disgust.
"You should be acting like that for all of them," Monoma said, appearing behind the couch making Kodai and Komori jump.
Kendo threw a pillow at him. "Jeez, Monoma, give us a better warning that you are coming around," she said. She noticed Tetsutetsu was behind him and waved to him. Tetsu turned his head away.
Monoma surveyed the room. "Where's Setsuna?"
Kodai giggled. "Sero, the tape guy, asked her out to a movie! He's probably going to ask her afterwards about the gala."
"How exciting," Shiozaki said. "The quiet one, Koda, is taking me to a little diner tomorrow for breakfast."
"Maybe he's going to ask you there," Reiko suggested. The nature hero smiled and pressed her hands together for a prayer.
Monoma threw his hands up. "This is unacceptable! I can't believe you are all playing into their hands!" he said.
Kendo stood up. "Oh Monoma, shut up. It's only a dance. Besides, this is a great networking opportunity for all of us. We should be grateful for this," she said as the other girls nodded. "C'mon Tetsu, back me up here."
Tetsutetsu's head shot up. "I actually agree with Monoma."
Kendo's face dropped. "You can't be serious. Tetsu, they asked us to a dance, not a marriage proposal." Tetsutetsu transformed his upper body into steel and stomped away with Monoma following behind him. Sighing, Kendo slumped back on the couch.
"What was that all about?" Reiko asked.
"I don't know. He's been acting weird all day around me," Kendo replied.
"Maybe he's jealous?" Komori suggested.
"Of Aoyama? Please, if he knew the situation, there would be no reason for that." The girls gave her a quizzical look, but she changed the subject to what they learned today in class. That can't be it, can it?
Meanwhile with Class 2A
Kirishima opened the Bakusquad chat on his phone.
Kirishima: Do you guys wanna hang tonight?
Sero: Can't about to go on a date. Wish me luck!
Ashido: OMG! Good luck Sero!
Kaminari: With who?
Sero: Setsuna from Class B. She's pretty cute. Gotta go!
Ashido: What about your Kaminari?
Kaminari: Sorry guys, but I'm hanging out with Jirou tonight.
Ashido: Oh? Does this "hanging out" include asking Jirou to a certain gala?
Kaminari: See ya!
Kirishima: Bakugou, you down?
Bakugou: Can't.
Ashido: I guess it's you and me Kirishima!
Kirishima: We can hang in my room.
Ashido: Be there in ten!
Krishima laid on his bed and rubbed his hands down his face. Just me and Ashido? He noticed sweat began to form on his palms. Why am I so nervous? It's not like we haven't hung out just the two of us before.
Sero's face came to mind. "It's alright to like her, you know? I see how you look at her in our training courses," he said.
It's not like that. Ashido and I have become good friends this past year. That's all.
He jumped at the sound of the door. Kirishima looked around to see if anything trash or dirty clothes were out in the open. Once he was good he said, "It's open."
Ashido walked in wearing a turquoise tank top and short black athletic shorts with a pink, tiger print blanket around her shoulders. "Hey Kiri! I'm glad you were still available to hang," she said. Kirishima stared at her legs and could feel his heartbeat quicken its pace. Calm down, man. Ashido cocked her head to the side. "Um, Kirishima? Are you okay?"
His eyes jumped to hers. "Yeah, yeah I'm good. You want to sit down?" He scooted over on his bed as she sat down. She sighed and leaned against his wall. Eyebrow raised, he asked, "You good?"
"This whole gala thing is kind of stressful, especially with being the residential shipper in our class." She leaned against his shoulder. "It's tiring you know." She felt his quirk flare on his shoulder and sat up straight. "Are you okay, Kirishima? You seem more tense than usual."
He noticed what he was doing and took a deep breath. "Sorry, yeah. The gala is on everyone's mind."
She smiled and placed her blanket over their legs. "I got'cha, Kiri. Have you asked anyone yet?"
Kirishima allowed himself to intertwine his fingers with the blanket. The soft cotton brought his heart beat back to normal. "Not yet."
"Don't worry, the love doctor is on the case." Mina began to sputter out different girls' names, but all Kirishima could focus was how pretty her voice sounded and how her eyes lit up when she was passionate about something. Maybe Sero was right. "Earth to Kirishima!"
"What?"
She placed her head in her palm. "You're hopeless, Kiri." She winked. "Too bad Bakugou already has a date."
"He does? And what is that supposed to mean!"
Mina giggled and noticed her phone vibrated. "Speaking of which, I gotta go. I didn't think he would be back this quick. I'm hosting his lady friend for the next couple of nights." She quickly covered her mouth. "Shoot, I wasn't supposed to say anything. Keep it between us okay?" He nodded. "You're the best, Kiri." She kissed the top of his forehead and slid the blanket off of his lap. "I'll see you tomorrow!"
All the sturdy hero could do was smile and wave as she left. Sero was right.
Jirou, wearing black leggings and a purple t-shirt, knocked on Kaminari's door. It'll be nice to not think about this stupid gala for a bit.
He opened up the door, and she noticed he was wearing his black "Thunder Bolt '' t-shirt and grey sweatpants. He made way for her to come in. As she passed he said, "M'lady."
She stopped and headed back to the door. "I actually remembered I have school work to do, bye," she replied.
"No, I'm sorry! Please don't leave," he said with a puppy dog face.
She closed his door and sat on his freshly made bed. "Because I can see you made an effort in cleaning your room, I'll stay."
Kaminari fist pumped the air and pulled the chair up near the bed. "How was your week?"
"Fine, except with the fact we have to go to this fancy ball thing."
"Oh c'mon, I think it's going to be fun! We may even find new internships through it."
Jirou shrugged. "I guess. How many rejection letters have you gotten?"
"Hey, not funny! I actually haven't asked anyone yet."
"Seriously? I'm surprised by that. I heard Mineta has been asking everyone that wears a skirt and walks on two legs."
"That doesn't surprise me, but he told me he got one maybe."
Jirou laid on his bed and folded her arms behind her head. "I can't believe you hang out with that guy."
"We don't hang out that much, and he's fine when he's not around girls."
"Whatever you say. Can you play that CD now?"
Kaminari stood up and went to his CD collection. "Okay, now this is going to be an experience, so I have to set the mood." Jirou gave him a deadpan look. "Just trust me. Now, sit up and close her eyes."
She sat up and stared directly in his eyes with her ear jacks up. "I swear if you try anything funny, I'll-"
"I would never do anything like that, Jirou. I promise." There was a sense of warmth in his eyes. She relaxed her muscles and closed her eyes.
She then heard a collection of a lighter being flicked on, something being plugged into an amp, and Kaminari taking a deep breath.
Jirou slowly opened her eyes to see Kaminari strumming the yellow guitar she gave him last year with a few candles lit on his coffee table. The lights were turned off, so all she saw was him. A smile grew on her face.
He played a more few cords on the guitar and began to sing:
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Oh, for I can't help falling in love with you
He strummed the last couple of notes and got one knee. "Jirou, would you allow me to escort you to the Hero's Gala?" Tears began to stream down her face. He stood up and took hold of her shoulders. "Is something wrong? Did I play a couple of chords wrong? Darn it, I tried to learn it all last night."
Jirou enveloped him in a hug. "No, Jamming Whey, you did everything right. I would love to go to the gala with you."
Kaminari held onto her until she broke the hug, wiping her eyes. "I'm sorry. It's just no one has done something like that for me before."
He sat back on his chair and handed her a tissue. "You deserve to be serenaded everyday."
"God, you're disgusting." She laughed.
He laughed with her. "Do you want to watch a movie or something?" Jirou nodded. He grabbed his iPad from his desk as Jirou made room for him on the bed. Kaminari laid next to her as she placed her head on his shoulder and wrapped his arm around her. Beaming, he pulled up a streaming site for them to chill together.
Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida were watching the news in the common lounge when Midoriya noticed Uraraka opening the fridge in the kitchen. He took a deep breath and jogged up to her. "H-hi Uraraka," he said.
She closed it with orange juice in hand. "Hey Deku! What's up?"
His heart began to pound. His voice was gone, and he was lost in her eyes. C'mon, just ask her! "I was wondering if, if you w-w-wanted to get a bite to eat tomorrow? Off campus?"
A slight blush grew upon her cheeks, but she frowned. "I'm sorry Deku, I would love to, but I promised my parents I would visit them this weekend. I'll be back by Sunday though."
He sighed but smiled. "It's no problem! Maybe we can do something after the fitting?"
"Of course! I'll see you then." She then went back to the elevator. As soon as the doors closed, she stomped her foot. WHY?
Midoriya, defeated, sat back down between Iida and Todoroki. The half cold-half hot hero placed his hand on Midoriya's shoulder. "That was rough, buddy," he said.
Midoriya slid further down the couch. "Maybe I'll visit my mom tomorrow since I have the time," he replied.
Students and teachers who have dates: Tsu, Tokoyami, Bakugou, Present Mic, Midnight, Hagakure, Ojiro, Jirou, Kaminari, Sero, Shoji, Aoyama
14 days until the ball
I hope you liked that nod to the Last Airbender haha. I wanted to let you all know now that some characters will get dates off screen such as Sato and Sero. It just makes the story go quicker. Also fun fact, I based Kaminari song choice from Manolo from The Book of Life when he asks Maria to marry him. If you have seen that movie, please do! It's so beautiful and celebrates Mexican culture.
