The sun had just begun to rise, and birds were singing to each other. Laying in his bed, Aizawa stared at his phone to scroll to the Js. I'm going to regret this. He then pressed on "Joke." She picked up on the second ring.
"Hello, future husband! What is up with you on this fine morning?" Emi Fukukado said. I could hang up right now.
"Joke, how are you already so chipper?" Aizawa asked.
Laughter filled his speaker to the point where he had to hold his phone out. "You know some people enjoy early mornings, right? It's a great time for me to do some yoga, and I get to watch the sun rise!"
He groaned. I regret this.
"Alright Eraser, I know you didn't call me for sweet morning nothings. Is something wrong?"
"No," he sighed, "Joke, are you going to the Hero's Gala?"
"I wasn't planning on it...unless you want me to," she replied. He could hear the smirk on her face.
"My class was invited to go this year, so by contract, I have to go as well. And," he took a deep breath. "I was wondering if you would like to go with me?"
"Are you freaking kidding me? Of course I will! Do I need to do anything special for your students or anything.?"
"No, but they are doing the dress and suit fittings tomorrow, so if you want a free dress, I suggest you come."
"I gotta buy my train ticket then! Can you ask Midnight if it's okay for me to stay at her place?"
"You can stay at mine if you like."
"My, Aizawa, practicing for marriage, are we?"
He dragged his hand down his face in annoyance. "No, it's called I have a couch. Plus, I would like you to meet Eri. You may be a good influence for her."
"Yes, I've been wanting to meet her for like a year!"
"She's used to her routine now and the people around her. Now it's time for her to meet new ones."
"I'm so happy you thought of me, Eraser, thank you. I'll see you soon!" She hung up. I hope I didn't just make a mistake. He then heard Eri open her bedroom door and went out to greet her.
On the other side of town, All Might buzzed into a small apartment complex. He took the elevator up to the fifth floor with a bouquet of sunflowers in hand and knocked on the door. Inko Midoriya opened the door and said with an upbeat attitude, "C'mon on in, Toshi." He placed the flowers in front of him as she gasped. "Toshi, you don't need to bring me flowers every time!"
He smiled. "I believe they freshen up the place, and beautiful ladies deserve fresh flowers." She giggled as he went to his usual seat at the table.
"Toshinori, I don't even want to know how much you have spent on flowers for me these past few months."
"Don't worry about how I spend my retirement money," he laughed. "What's on the menu for today?"
She placed the plates in front of him. "Eggs benedict with a side of blueberry pancakes and fruit salad." She then sat on the other side of the table with her fruit salad.
"And you say I spoil you with the flowers." After a few bites he asked, "How has your week been?"
"Same old, same old. Working and then coming home to either knit or sew. How about you?"
"I'm feeling much stronger in this form the past few weeks. I think it has something to do with your cooking." A warm blush formed in her cheeks, and she glanced away. "I also have some exciting news. Young Midoriya's class has been invited to the Hero's Gala."
"That's amazing! His class is something else, I will say that. Do you know if he has asked anyone yet?"
"I'm actually not sure. I should ask him next time I see him."
"Yeah, you'll probably see him before I do." She frowned a little bit after that statement.
"I'll also tell him to visit you more often."
She perked up. "Oh, you don't have to do that, Toshi. It's been nice having you visit me every week. At least I get some sort of update about him."
"Of course," he said, then clearing his throat. "I have something to ask you, Mrs. Midoriya."
"You can call me Inko, you know," she reminded him.
"Right, Inko, the gala has made me the Gala Guest of Honor, and I was wondering if you would accompany me to it."
She dropped her fork onto her plate. "Wh-what? You want me to go with you?" She stood up and took her empty plate to the sink. "Oh Toshi, I can't. I'm not a pro-hero, and I'm, I'm…"
"Inko, please look at me." She turned with tears pricking the side of her eyes. He stood up and took her hands. "I would like you to come see your son and have an enjoyable time for yourself. Not to mention, you get a free dress."
"I don't know…"
"Please, Inko, there is no one else I want to go with."
She stared at his little blue orbs and rubbed her tiny thumbs against his lanky ones. "Okay, I accept." He squeezed her hands, and they stared at each other's eyes until…
"Hi Mom, I'm home!" Izuku Midoriya yelled. The pair broke apart with All Might sitting back in his seat, finishing his food, and Inko cleaning the dishes. Izuku ran into the kitchen. "Hi All Might! Oh, I forgot you visit Mom on Saturdays. You don't mind me joining?"
"Of course not, Young Midoriya! Come, your mother has prepared a delicious meal that we cannot eat all by ourselves." Inko smiled and prepared a plate for Izuku.
"So, All Might, has been telling me about the Hero's Gala," she said. Izuku got less excited to be there. "Are you planning on asking anyone?"
Izuku scratched his head. "I have someone in mind. I just hope I get to ask her before anyone else does."
"Who is it, my dear boy?" Inko placed his food in front of him and sat down.
"Uraraka," Izuku whispered.
All Might transformed into his hero form to laugh for a few seconds before transforming back and coughing up blood. "That sounds wonderful, Midoriya," he said.
"Toshinori!" Inko exclaimed, handing him a napkin. He accepted it and thanked her.
"She's visiting her family this weekend, so I hope I can ask her tomorrow."
"You'll do great, sweetie. Just be confident and courteous," his mother said.
"Yes, in fact I just - ow!" All Might said. Inko turned to him with alarmed eyes to not say anything.
Young Midoriya stood up. "All Might, are you okay?"
"Yes, just a little aftermath of pain from me transforming. I'm okay."
Izuku finished his meal and talked with his mom and All Might for a while. Then he wanted to go back to get some training done. All Might offered to walk back with him but told him to wait outside for a couple minutes. He gave a confused look but did what he asked. When they were alone, he asked, "What didn't you want me to say anything about the gala?"
"I don't want to distract him from his goal right now. Let's just keep it between us right now." He smiled and squeezed her hand. They said their goodbyes, and All Might went to meet with Izuku.
Back at the dorms, Kirshima in a yellow t-shirt and black shorts with his white bandana, knocked on Bakugou's door. His eyes widened when a girl with dark blonde hair and a black sweater dress opened the door. "How may I help you, my dude?" she asked.
"Umm, is Bakugou here?" Kirishima asked.
"Damn it, Illusions, I said to not answer the door!" Bakugou yelled as he came up behind her. He was wearing black jeans and a dark orange short-sleeved button down.
She patted his cheek. "Sorry, Bakubro, I thought you wanted me to answer the door. My bad," she giggled and retreated back into the room.
Bakugou rolled his eyes and turned his attention to his shitty haired friend. "What's up, Kirishima?" he asked.
"I was going to ask you something, but you seem busy," Kirishima said, peering into the room.
Bakugou opened the door wider for his friend. "We're just hanging out for now." "Illusions" was sitting in the middle of his bed, scrolling through her phone and laughing at something. He patted her shoulder, and she made room for him without taking her attention from social media. As soon as he sat down, she laid down, stretching her legs on top of him. "Do I look like a recliner?"
She glanced up at him and said, "A cute recliner." He groaned as she winked at him.
This is weird. Kirishima sat on Bakugou's computer chair and stared at "the lady friend" for a second. "I recognize you! You were at the provisional exam last year," Kirishima said.
Illusions sighed and turned her body towards the red head. "Hate to break it to you, but that wasn't actually me. The chick from the League bodysnatched me," she replied.
"Yikes, sorry about that...Illusions?"
The lady friend sat up and stuck out her hand. "Nah, that's not my real name. That's the cute nickname Bakubro gave me. I'm Camie Utsushimi. Nice to meet 'ya."
Kirishima shook her hand. "I'm Eijrou Kirishima, probably Bakugou's best friend."
"Oh, you must be Shitty Hair then. It's so nice to meet you in person fam!"
"Would you stop calling me that?" Kirishima said to Bakugou, who shook his head. "Anyway, I was stopping by to ask for some advice." He turned to Camie. "Maybe, you can help me too, Utsushimi."
"Let me guess, girl trouble," Camie suggested.
"What else would it be?" Bakugou said.
"Yeah, heh," Kirishima said, scratching the back of his head. "I may have some feelings for Ashido."
"Nu-uh! She is the best! Bakubro found me a bomb temp roommate." The lady friend studied Kirishima for a second. "You guys would be so cute! I ship it."
"So you finally realized your feelings for Racoon Eyes, huh? You gonna ask her to the gala?" Bakugou asked.
"I want to, but how?" Kirishima asked. "How did you ask Utsushimi?"
She placed a hand over her heart. "It was so adorbs," she said.
"She FaceTimed me, we chatted for a few minutes, then I asked her. It's not rocket science," Bakugou added.
"How are you and Tsu doing this so easily? God," Kirishima muttered. He placed his hands into his face.
Camie stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, Ki-Man, don't be so gloom. Maybe you shouldn't just go and ask her. You should dazzle her!" Kirishima glanced up at her. "Let me show you. She breathed in and out with her glamour smoke and an image of Kirishima and Mina appeared. "Now, you should spend some time with her off campus." She transformed the image to the pair at the movies, then the mall, and then the beach.
"The beach would be perfect!" Kirishima said. Camie changed the image to the pair walking down the beach, holding hands while the sun was setting. Then Glamour Kirishima asked Glamour Mina to the gala. The illusion poofed away. Kirishima leapt from his chair. "That's great! Thanks guys," he said and ran out of the room.
Camie placed her hands on her hips and smiled at Bakugou. "Are you expecting a medal or something?" he asked.
Glamour Bakugou appeared before him. "Wow, Camie, that was amazing. Thank you for helping my best bro. Let me take you to the fanciest restaurant in town to show my gratitude," he said.
The real Bakugou swiped the illusion away. "Okay, I get it. Thank you for getting his head out of his ass."
Smiling, she grabbed her purse and phone from his bedside table. "You're welcome, now let's go to the mall like you promised." He groaned but let her pull him from the bed to get ready for their outing.
