I can't believe that I'm already at chapter 9. It feels good to finally be back at the flow of posting chapters now :) I wouldn't have done this without everyone's support. I'm glad that people are really liking the story. I wish to hug every single one of you but sadly we can't right now ;-; But I will give you a big smile! :D
Now without further ado, let the show begin!
"How could this have possibly happened?" Lucia quietly hissed at Julio. Who was looking at a small hand held device and he began to quietly mumbled to himself. She tired to look around for Rosie or Aaron and couldn't find them anywhere in the abandoned building.
"They probably went to another room to figure out if ghosts do exists." Julio shrugged and paced around the room to see anything paranormal.
Lucia narrowed her eyes at him and then they heard Rosie and Aaron hurried in the room they were in. They were panting heavily and Lucia raised an eyebrow.
Aaron's hair was messy and his shirt was undone by a few buttons. Rosie wiping some sweats from her forehead and continued to take a deep breathe. "...Did you guys use protection?" Lucia asked and they looked pale.
"WHAT?! NONONONO! You've got it all wrong!" Rosie frantically said and Julio looked up at them.
"You would mind telling me what happened?" Julio asked and Aaron crossed his arms, "That's on you Rosie."
Rosie glared at Aaron and then slowly looked at her cousins. Who were giving her a stern look and she slowly began to twirl her fingers together. "Well...here's what happened."
Earlier...
"This is the place?" Rosie asked as she looked at the vacant building.
It was a five story building that was meant to be for a hospital. Some windows were shattered or boarded up with some woods. The building was either covered with graffiti or had some egg marks on them.
"Yeap! My friends told me that they sense evil spirits here." Lucia admitted and Julio scoffed, "There's no such thing as ghosts."
Before the twins could argue, Aaron slowly stepped in between them. He held his hands up and dully said, "Come on. Let's go investigate this place and then go home. I'm too tired for this."
The twins listened to him and Rosie put her hands in her pockets, "If you're so tired then you could have stayed home."
Aaron didn't looked at Rosie as he walked ahead and simply said, "With what happened yesterday, I rather keep you company. Who knows what could happen."
Rosie tilt her head and eventually followed behind them. Lucia smiled and hugged her cousin's arms. The girls were whispering close to each other while the boys were looking around inside.
"So how's college treating you and Julio? Do you have a boyfriend?" Rosie asked and Lucia began to laugh. She went on about how her classes went and her roommate whom she's getting along with. They cautiously walked around the hallways and Rosie used the flashlight in her phone to look around.
"This is fascinating. I wonder if they have glass jars of organs at the basement." Julio said out loud. He used his flashlights to walk further ahead. Lucia immediately frowned and hurried after him, she was worried that he might cause some trouble if he went alone.
Aaron glanced around the empty and dark rooms when he had an ominous and cold feeling at the bottom of his stomach. He turned around and noticed Rosie wasn't around.
"Son of a-"
She knew it was wrong to not let anyone know where she was going. But Rosie wanted to check the basement level of the hospital. What always interest her was to look through some files or archives of any records. It might be because of the books on mystery or crimes that Rosie loves to read at the library.
Like the book series that she's currently in to. The Missing novel series, she finished reading the first book Found. The next book Rosie is trying to read was Sent. The more Rosie would read the book, she would feel the urge for a sense of adventure.
The silence in the rooms send chills around her spine.
Rosie walked downstairs, she went to the furthest room in the hallway. When she grabbed the door knob, it was locked. That wasn't going to stop her from exploring into the unknown.
She pulled a hair pin from the side of her head, causing her side bangs to fall in front of her eyes. Rosie moved a piece of her hair behind her ear and kneel down to focus on the door knob.
One of the few things that Six taught her was to pick a lock. The other thing she learned was to hot wire a car...she doesn't question why her father should teach her this. But Rosie assumes that she'll use those lessons in the future.
After picking the lock for a few seconds, Rosie smiled in victory when she finally unlocked the door. The door slowly creek open and she used her phone to shine the room.
The room was dark and it looked more like an office.
"Awe...Maybe I'll find something here." Rosie pouted and went to the book shelf. The books were dusty and a bit worth out.
It was books about the human body, bones, or about the brain. Rosie skimmed through the books and then put them back. She grabbed another book and noticed that there was some writing in it.
The first page was written, "Nanites, Individuals with Abilities."
Rosie frowned and flipped through them, she spotted some familiar names.
Van Kleiss, Biowolf, Skalamander, Breach, Rex Salazar.
She stared at a name that she didn't recognized.
Avalon Van Kleiss.
Rosie flipped the page and noticed it was blank. The rest of the book was blank, there wasn't anymore sketches or descriptions of anyone else. This book contain tons of information about nanites and about everyone that had them that were special cases. Instead of putting the book back in the shelf, Rosie puts it in her bag.
She jumped when she heard a faint thud. There was a pencil on the floor beside the desk...all the pencils were in a pencil holder on a desk. It wasn't possible for it to be moved from the pencil holder by itself.
"Hello? Is there anyone there?" Rosie faintly called out and had her back against the door. Nothing happened, no one gave her a response, Rosie surveyed the office and screamed when a glass canister was throw across the room.
Rosie yanked the door opened and ran out of the room. She didn't make it out an inch when she collided with someone.
"Rose! What the hell!?" Aaron yelled as he was on the ground with Rosie on top of him. She turned bright red and struggled to get off of him. "R-Rosie! Calm down!" Aaron yelled as his cheeks were burning up when Rosie was on his lap.
"We gotta go!" Rosie yelled as she pushed herself off him. Aaron got up and then jumped when he heard a thud. Before he could go ask, Rosie grabbed his hand and dragged him upstairs.
"And that's what happened. I went to a room at a basement, I swear there was a ghost!" Rosie exclaimed and made sure to leave out the details about the book that she found.
Julio and Lucia didn't know if they should believe her. The device in Julio's hand didn't activate and he said, "Well, my machine isn't acting up. So there's no sign of any ghosts. Maybe a rat was the one who cause those commotions."
"We need go to the basement and check it out!" Lucia excitedly said until they heard Six sternly said, "Absolutely not."
Everyone flinched when they saw him walking towards them. Rosie fidget around when Six turned his attention to her. It was obvious that she was in trouble but Rosie didn't know what she did.
Six said, "Is there a reason why you didn't respond to any of our text messages?"
Rosie's eyes widen in horror as she quickly pulled her phone out to check on it. There was 16 new text messages, most of them was from her mother. She felt guilty and looked at Six as she whispered, "Sorry dad...I guess I had it on silent mode."
"You better say sorry to your mother. She was getting worried about what happened to you." Six said in his usual tone.
"Sorry Uncle Six. Rosie went off by herself. I guess the basement didn't have much signal." Lucia theorized and Six raised an eyebrow, "Why were you in the basement?"
"I was just exploring. Why don't we go home?" Rosie quickly suggested and hurried out the front doors of the hospital. Aaron was about to follow until Six stopped him, "What happened down at the basement?"
Aaron replied, "I don't know. I heard glass shattering and then Rosie ran out. She told me there was a ghost but she probably was seeing things."
Six decided to believe Aaron and looked at the twins, "Go home. Your parents already left and are waiting for you two at their home."
"We're in college and they still worry about us." Julio chuckled until Lucia pointed out, "Well you do set your inventions on fire when you try to start them."
Julio gave his sister a dirty look before he mumbled, "Way to throw me under the bus sis."
Rosie placed a Do Not Disturb sign on her door and she closed the door. She hurried to her closet and carefully lifted up a certain tile on her floor.
There was a small opening at the bottom floor and a few items were hidden inside of the secret hole. There was some old files, some pictures, a few journals, and small knick knacks. She grabbed a cloth from her shelf and wrapped it around the book. Rosie placed the book inside the secret hole and made it was hidden. "Is it wrong that I have secret?" Rosie whispered to herself and then jumped when she heard her father call out to her.
"Coming!" Rosie said out loud and quickly put the tile back. She quickly got out of her closet and hurried out of her room.
When Rosie was gone for sure, at her secret spot something happened. A small red portal appeared and someone's hand was sitting out. The hand slowly placed a flash drive on top of the covered cook.
The hand slowly retreat back inside the portal and it was gone.
