Chapter .4.
There was silence for a bit after Castle well Hermes left. Nobody knew what too say. What could they say after learning that Castle was in fact actually a Greek God and that the Gods were real and still were around.
They had so many questions they wanted too answer.
"I think we should be on our way", Bea suggests after a while.
"Where are we going?" Kate asks
"Camp Half-Blood. While you pack I'll get us a car. Kev stay with the kids while I get us a vehicle we can ALL use", Jenny instructs
"But Jenny I have questions for you", Ryan protests
"And you will get too ask they when I get back", Jenny replies picking up her bag and dashing out
"While lets pack. I suggest Lanie and Esposito go to their place and pack and met back here", Martha suggests recovering faster then the others.
They both nod and leave deep in thought.
"Come on Johanna I'll help you pack while I pack myself", Alexis offers her Half-Sister
Johanna jumps up and runs for her bedroom. Talking about how she was going to see the place her Daddy talked about.
"Reece, Jake are you both alright too pack for yourselves?" Kate asks
"We are fine Mum", they say before walking off
"We'll go and help them", Basil and Bea say looking a bit uncomfortable with the tension Lily was giving off.
"Lily…", Kate starts but Lily was already storming too her bedroom.
Kate hears the bang off the door and sighs.
"She will be fine Kiddo she just needs too come to terms with this like we all will", Martha assures Kate
"What do we do Martha? Castle is not who we thought he was", Kate asks playing with her engagement and wedding bands she kept on a chain around her neck with her mothers ring.
"It will take time but I believe we will get used too it. And seeing him now I believe he is still close to the person we knew him as. We just need too learn to accept he isn't mortal or that his name isn't Richard Castle", Martha replies
"How are you taking this Martha?" Kate asks her Mother-in-Law
"I will get there. Him saying I was still his Mother has helped me too accept this. But I will need time too get too know him as Hermes, the Greek God instead of Richard Castle the Writer", Martha replies, "Just like you'll have too get used too the fact that he is Hermes, the Greek God who has other children and not exactly the same man as Richard Castle you husband. That you knew him as for nearly 14 years"
"I think that might be impossible", Kate says sadly
"Just give him and this new world we are being thrust into a chance", Martha advisers her squeezing her hand.
"I will give it a try", Kate agrees squeezing Martha's hand back.
Martha leaves too pack and Kate makes her way too her bedroom too pack a few things. She looks at the pendent that Cast…Hermes had given her and it was beautiful. The detail was amazing unlike anything she had every seen.
"Is he still the same man? Can I really have a relationship with a God?" Kate asks herself as she packs the important things.
How was all this possible?
Greek Gods and Wars were the stuff of legend. It was not meant to be in the present. But according too Cast…Hermes, Jenny, Bea and Basil it was real and the Wars had been fought recently.
She remembers the period of time they were talking about. Many cops acting confused about how the damage was done without any evidence of the culprit. Too any of the vandalism or the few murders they had. Or the assaults on people who couldn't remember their attackers when it had been broad daylight and they were conscious. And no drugs were found in their system. Kate remembers just how much confusion and frustration this had caused all the precincts. Was Castle actually responsible for any of that? Did he hurt anyone?
Kate shakes her head she wouldn't think on that now. She wanted too believe he wouldn't hurt anyone. But what did she really know about him after learning he had hidden his true identity from her and everyone else.
How would they get through this?
Kate finishes packing and goes too find Lily. Finding her in her bedroom looking angry at the old picture of her and Cast…Hermes.
"Lily you need too pack", Kate tells her
"Do I have too go? He is NOT my father", Lily declares
"Lily no matter what has happened. He IS your father. And you have seen he cares about you", Kate tries too reason with her
"No he doesn't! Otherwise he would have stayed!" Lily yells angrily with tears in her eyes.
"We don't know what really caused him to leave. Except for these 'Ancient Laws' he mentioned. We need more explanations. We need too investigate the facts around what your Dad just told us. And the answers lie in this Camp Half-Blood place", Kate reasons with her
"Is that really want your going to do Mum?" Lily asks with tears
Kate wipes them away.
"Yes. Because despite everything I believe I still love him. But like you I need all the facts and those lie in Camp Half-Blood", Kate replies trying too make Lily see reason.
Just because she was having issues with Castle's real identity doesn't mean their children should get involved. They needed too give their Father a chance.
"Just give your Dad a chance. Give his real identity a chance too be a Father too you", Kate begs her for Castle's sake.
"He can't change the past. But I'll come for your sake Mum", Lily replies stubbornly
Kate sighs in defeat, "As long as you do that"
Kate rans a hand through her daughters hair.
"Come out when you have packed. I love you", Kate tells her
"I love you too Mum", Lily replies hugging her tightly
Kate leaves her too check on the others. Reece and Jake were nearly done. They were chatting excitedly too Basil pelting him with questions. It seemed Reece and Jake didn't have a problem with their Dad being a Greek God.
She checks on Johanna too find her packed and talking to Bea. Bea was telling her stories about the Greek World.
"All packed Jo?" Kate asks her daughter
"Yes Mummy. Lexie helped then Bea came when Lexie had too pack", Johanna replies
"Thank you Bea", Kate says gratefully
"Your welcome. We are all family after all", Bea replies with a smile.
An hour later everyone was gathered with a suitcase each. When they got to outside too find a small bus waiting for them with Jenny behind the wheel.
"All aboard", Jenny replies
Basil, Ryan and Espo load the bags. While Kate, Martha and Lanie help the kids into the car and buckle them up. Jenny had thankfully gotten car seats for the younger ones.
Once everyone was seating Jenny takes off.
"So what questions do you want answered?" Jenny asks as she drives.
"Your Cast…Hermes daughter?" Ryan asks his wife
"Yes. Well his Roman sides daughter", Jenny replies
"So Castle is my Father-in-Law?" Ryan asks looking like he didn't know what too make of that.
"Yes", Jenny replies trying not too smile.
"The friend I knew for four years is my Father-in-Law?" Ryan asks again
She lets out a chuckle, "Yes"
"Was he pissed when he found out?" Espo asks smirking at Ryan's face as it had gone white thinking about having a God as a Father-in-Law and getting on his bad side.
"Not really. He found it amusing that one of his mortal friends were marrying his daughter. But you must understand Gods don't have much contact with their children. Merc…Hermes was just lucky as he was working with you at the time. So I was able too spend some time with him", Jenny explains too them
"What is the difference between Greek and Roman?" Alexis asks, "Besides the change of name"
"The Roman side of the Gods are more militaristic then their Greek Aspects. They become stricter, more serious and more war like", Jenny explains
They give her disbelief looks. Trying too imagine Castle as strict and serious.
"I know you don't believe Lord Hermes can be those things. But he can. Even Lady Aphrodite gets more militaristic and so on. Actually she is better in her Roman form", Bea tells them
"So what names do they change too?" Jake asks
"Lord Zeus goes too Lord Jupiter. Lady Hera too Lady Juno. Lord Poseidon too Lord Neptune. Lady Demeter too Lady Ceres. Lord Ares too Lord Mars. Lady Aphrodite too Lady Venus. Lady Athena too Lady Minerva. Lady Artemis too Lady Diana. Lord Apollo stays Lord Apollo. Lord Hephaestus too Lord Vulcan. Lord Dionysus too Lord Bacchus. Lord Hades too Lord Pluto and Lady Hestia too Lady Vesta. Those are the ones that have a place on Council", Bea explains too them.
"Do they have a lot of children?" Reece asks curiously
Bea hesitates before nodding, "Yes they do. But only Lady Hera, Lady Artemis and Lady Hestia have no children"
"But don't Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Dionysus and Hades have wives or husbands?" Sarah Grace asks her Mother Jenny.
Thunder booms at the causally use of their names.
"They do. But the Gods don't take relationships the same way we do. When I God or Goddess is with another immortal and are bonded their relationship is strong and they know that if the other has affairs that in the end their partners will always come back to them. As immortal love is slightly different then mortal love", Bea explains
"Doesn't stop Hera from killing off her husbands lovers", Jenny mutters earning thunder rumbling.
Basil looks nervously at Jenny.
Kate looks down. There was no hope for her and Cas…Hermes then.
"Kate there are exceptions", Jenny says noticing her look.
Everyone gives Jenny their attention again.
"The Gods don't really change. But when the Gods fall in love. That changes them. Doesn't matter if they fall in true love with another immortal or mortal. It changes them. Lord Hermes gave you one of the highest oaths he can give you outside of marrying you in a Godly ceremony. He basically has pledged himself too only you. I believe if you tell him you don't want him to have affairs anymore he WOULD stop. Just seeing him before looking at you with so much love. In his eyes I could see he would burn the world for you or turn back time for you. So I believe if you tell him no more. He would be the first of the Gods too keep that promise", Jenny explains
"Jenny is right. I have never seen Lord Hermes look at anyone like he did you Detective Beckett. I haven't even seen him look at his other children with so much love as he did while looking at Alexis, Lily, Reece, Jake and Johanna", Bea adds
Kate goes deep in thought tuning out the other conversations going on. Was that really true? Did he really love her that much?
'Of course I do my Katie your my entire world. Eternity means nothing anymore too me unless you are by my side and any other woman looks plain next too you', a voice in her head says
'Castle…I mean Hermes?' Kate thinks
But she gets no reply.
"What is exactly Camp Half-Blood?" Lily asks
"It is one of a few safe places for Demigods. The others being Camp Jupiter for the Roman Demigods, the Amazon Headquarters and the Hunters of Artemis", Bea explains
"Where are they?" Reece and Jake ask curiously
"Camp Jupiter is in San Francisco. The Amazon Headquarters are in Seattle. The Hunters of Artemis have no permit base but travel across the US fighting monsters and recruiting girls, well maidens for the Hunt", Bea explains
"The Amazons and the Hunters only accept woman. The Hunters also only accept maidens", Jenny adds
"Those three Camps have patrons", Basil tells them
"What do you mean?" Alexis asks
"Well Roman's valued Lord Jupiter and Lord Mars more then the other Gods. So they are the Patrons of Rome. But unofficially Lady Bellona is also a Patron. The Amazons were founded by Lady Hera so she is their Patron. And the Hunters are obvious as Artemis is their Leader and thus is their Patron and protector", Jenny explains
"What do you do at Camp?" Lily asks
"You train to fight so you can survive outside of the Camps borders. But there are also classes and games…", Bea tells them
"Who trains…us?" Lily asks hesitating on the word 'Us'
"Chiron for the Greeks and Lady Lupa for the Romans", Jenny replies
"I remember the stories about them! Chiron is a Centaur known as the Trainer of Heros who trained heros such as Achilles and Hercules. And Lady Lupa is known as the Mother of Rome who nursed Remus and Romulus the Founders of Rome", Alexis states
"Correct", Jenny says with a smile
"Where do the kids asleep?" Kate asks
"When a child gets 'claimed' by their parent they move into their parents cabin", Basil replies
"What do you mean claimed?" Ryan asks
"It means their parent claims them. Demigods are not lucky in knowing who their Godly parent is. They only know when their parent claims them with a symbol appearing above their heads. Normally the child has too do something too earn the right too be claimed", Basil replies
"For a long time many Demigods went their whole lives not knowing who their parent was", Bea replies with a slight scowl.
"That is just wrong", Espo states
"It is. Now they have to be claimed by the time they are 13", Bea informs them
"Where do they stay till they are claimed?" Martha asks
Jenny, Bea and Basil share looks.
"What is with those looks?" Lanie asks
Bea sighs, "Since Lord Hermes is the God of Travel and Messengers he is the one that takes in the kids who haven't been claimed. They sleep in his Cabin. Which he welcomes warmly. But because of this his cabin is normally crowded. And it is hard too find a bed. But his children are friendly so everyone feels welcome when they enter his cabin"
"But you have too watch out", Basil chuckles
"Why?" Johanna asks innocently
"Because your Dad is the God of Thieves so his children get those skills from him. But it is rare them steal from their siblings. But the children of Hermes love too prank. And to them even their siblings are free game", Bea replies with a smile at Reece and Jake's mischievous looks
Kate groans that was all she needed. She should have really looked up Castle's 'domains'. Now she would have too stop her boys from getting arrested.
'Don't worry Katie. My kids rarely get caught', the voice says in her head.
'Hermes?', Kate thinks again
But again she gets no reply. Which was starting to annoy her.
"What else should we know before entering Camp? We don't want to get on anyone's bad side", Alexis asks
"The only one you have too worry about is Mr D. As Chiron is really nice and rarely gets angry", Bea replies
"Who is Mr D?" Nicholas Ryan asks
"You would know him as Lord Dionysus, God of Wine", Basil tells them
"Why is he at Camp?" Ryan
"He is grounded", Bea says smirking
"Gods can get grounded?" many voices ask in shock
"Oh yeh they can. Lord Dionysus was punished because he chased a Wood Nymph which his Father had declared off limits. He was warned but still did it. So he was banished too Camp Half-Blood as its director for 100 years. Only allowed on Olympus for Council meetings", Bea replies
"100 years?" Reece and Jake ask wide eyed.
"Yes. Gods punishments are normally long. Or they get turned into Mortals and have too learn a lesson before gaining their Godhood back. Remember 100 years is a drop in a bucket too immortals. But it seems longer for Mr D because he is also prohibited from having alcohol", Bea replies
"The God of Wine not able too have alcohol?" Espo asks in disbelief
"Yeh a cruel and unusual punishment. But whatever works", Bea replies shrugging.
They hear a few more stories before they arrived near land that had a large Pine Tree at the top of it.
"We are here. Everyone grab their bags", Jenny announces
While everyone grabs their begs Basil suddenly stiffens and smells the area.
"What is it?" Bea asks
"Monsters", Basil replies
Suddenly they heard growling in the distance.
"Everyone run! Now! Take what you have and don't look back!" Bea orders drawing her sword, "Basil get them into Camp and get help. Jenny go with them"
"No I'll stay you will need another sword until help arrives", Jenny declares handing her youngest Matthew too Ryan.
Before touching her bracelet that she always wore and it transforms into a sword of gold.
"Jen you can't…", Ryan says
"Go Kev! Your guns are useless against them and you have no training. Go! Hurry the quicker your reach the barrier the sooner you can get help", Jenny orders.
"Go I gave a vow too Lord Hermes too get you here safety and to protect you go!" Bea orders too as the growling gets louder, "Basil get them out off here!"
Basil pushes them along. Lanie picking up Amelia Ryan who was 3. While Espo had picked up Johanna.
They stumbled up the hill. But look back too see the huge figures rapidly approaching Jenny and Bea.
They get too the huge Pine but Kate, Martha, Ryan, Lanie and Espo couldn't see anything.
"There is nothing here!" Martha states out of breath.
"What do you mean we can see…", Alexis starts
"I Basil the Satyr give on the authority of Lord Hermes: Detective Katherine Castle nee Beckett, Detective Javier Esposito, Detective Kevin Ryan and Doctor Lanie Parish permission to enter Camp Half-Blood!" Basil yells as they hear the sound of fighting.
The four mortals gasp at sight of the Camp. Many Cabin were lined in rows and other buildings around the area. But what stood out was a large white farmhouse.
"Quickly move inside the barrier. Monsters can't pass!" Basil says urgently urging them through the barrier the seemed too send a warm fuzzing feeling through Kate.
They were surprised too see a group of teens running up the hill towards them from the Camp.
"Where?" the leader asks
"Down the hill Clarisse. Bea daughter of Athena and Jenny Ryan daughter of Mercury are holding them off", Basil says in a rush knowing what the girl met
"With me!" the girl Clarisse booms
The group rushes through the barrier and out too join the fight.
Kate and the others were catching their breath that had been so sudden.
"Are you alright?" a teen with blonde hair and light blue eyes asks, "Are any of you hurt?"
"Who are you?" Kate asks ignoring the question.
"I am Will Solace son of Apollo. And you?" Will asks
"We don't have a what do you call it Godly parent", Espo blurts out
Earning a slap from Lanie.
The other kids that had come over gasp.
"How did you get in? Who let you in?" a boy asks
"Mr Yang calm down they have permission", a wise voice says
The kids apart way too reveal a Centaur walking towards them.
"They are mortal guests. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. I am Chiron Trainer of Heros. I mean you know harm", Chiron says smiling at them gently
As Johanna, Sarah, Nicholas, Amelia and Matthew hid behind the adult.
"I am Kate Beckett and my children Lily, Reece, Jake and Johanna Castle", Kate says
"Martha Rodgers"
"Alexis Castle"
"Lanie Parish"
"Javier Esposito"
"Kevin Ryan and my kids Sarah, Nicolas, Amelia and Matthew. Will my wife be alright?" Ryan asks with worry
"I am sure she would be if she is a demigod", Chiron assures them
"She told us she is a daughter of Mercury", Ryan informs them
"Then she will be fine", Chiron states
"What are mortals doing here?" the boy Yang asks
Suddenly symbols appear above the groups head. Dark green above Alexis, Lily, Reece, Jake and Johanna's heads. A smaller symbol with gold running through it above Kate's head. And a even smaller symbol above the others heads.
"All hail Alexis, Lily, Reece, Jake and Johanna daughters and sons of Lord Hermes, God of Messengers, Loads, Roads, Travels, Gymnasiums, Thieves, Athletes, Orators, Diplomacy, Commerce, Trade and Invention. All hail Sarah, Nicholas, Amelia and Matthew legacies of Mercury. And all be aware of Kate Beckett, Kevin Ryan, Javier Esposito and Lanie Parish protected and guarded by Lord Hermes. Hurt them at your own peril as you will face the rath of the Messenger God!" Chiron declares
The group of kids around them gasp and gape at the group. Wondering what mortals had down too gain a symbol above them.
Some that were there were happy too have three more sisters and two brothers and looked forward too getting too know them. Seeing as they ALL but Alexis had the same mother. They were also curious about Kate as the symbol that appeared above her head meant that she was very dear too their Father and the fact that their Dad had four kids with her proved that. So they wanted to get too know the person they believed their Father loved.
While Kate and the rest were shocked by what Chiron had said.
Did Cas…Hermes really just tell everyone they were protected?
What did that mean for them?
Why was everyone looking so shocked by what Chiron had said?
What was going too happen now?
And was Jenny alright?
