Hello everyone! I'm back with another chapter and I hope you guys like this. All I'm going to say is that it will be a bumpy ride...maybe? Lol
Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
Trying to focus on her English class wasn't going to be an option for Rosie. She was still exhausted over her research last night with the files that was in the flash drive. Most of the things that Rosie found there made her stay up late at night.
There was some information on the little girl that Rosie was so determined to find. All Rosie found was Ava's name and her age. She tried to find out anything about her past or who her mother is.
The same thing happened when she tried to look for any data on Zane and Lucas. It almost seems like none of them didn't exists.
"Rosie? Its time to go." Aaron nudge her and the bell ringed.
Rosie looked up at him and puts her things inside the backpack. They made their way to the other class and Rosie avoid making eye contact with Ryan. He tried to text Rosie that he was sorry for the horrible time that Rosie had, but she wasn't going to accept the apology from a message.
"Still mad at him?" Aaron guessed.
Rosie sigh and whispered, "If your best friend apologizes to you with a text message, would you accept it? Its like having someone break up with you through text."
Aaron decides to agree with Rosie on that and followed her close by. When they made it to their the gym hallway. Rosie went to the girls locker's room and went straight to her locker. Before Rosie could enter her lock combination, she noticed a small note taped on the locker.
She opened the note as she read it, 'Meet me at the football field after school. I want to talk. -Ryan.'
"Is that a love note?" Emily said and peeked over Rosie's shoulder. That question unfazed Rosie and she slowly crumbled the note up and sigh, "Nope. But its from Ryan."
Emily tried to ease the tension by telling Rosie that Ryan did feel bad about yesterday. However, Rosie focused on changing into her PE uniform. Rosie has a lot of things on her mind...she can try to find time to talk with Ryan after school.
What's the worse that can happen?
"I need to go do something real quick. Can you wait in front of the school while I talk to Ryan?" Rosie asked.
It was finally the end of school, so they need to walk home. Aaron gave Rosie a look and said, "Why can't I come along?"
Rosie pout and gave him a pleading look, "Come on Aaron. Trust me. This is a private conversation."
Aaron crossed his arms and sternly said, "If you're not back in five minutes then I'm coming to get you."
Rosie does know that Aaron is trying to do his job but she feels like he genuinely cares for her. She smiled and hugged him tightly, "Okay you big teddy bear."
With that, Rosie hurried away causing to Aaron to watch her leave. He tried to stop whatever feelings he has in his heart.
'Your job is to protect Rosie, not fall in love with her Aaron...Get a hold of yourself.' Aaron thought to himself before he starts to hit his head against a nearby locker.
Walking to the football field wasn't an easy task. Rosie had to go across the whole school and pass the basketball court and headed to the football field. She jogged ahead and looked around for Ryan.
"Ryan? Come on, I have to go now." Rosie called out as she made it to the vacant football field.
She looked around to find her friend until someone said, "You're such a naive child."
Everything in Rosie's body went cold and numb when she turned and saw Zane.
All the training that Rosie had went through immediately left her mind but she was about to flick her wrist when Zane lifted up a finger.
A bright blue electric static came out of the finger and he warned, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. My nanite abilities can make sure you're zapped into a coma. See, we don't need to make things worse than it already it. I have a deal for you."
"What do you have to offer?" Rosie glared but flinched when a familiar crimson portal formed behind Zane. Lucas walked out of the portal with Ava in his arms as she stared at Rosie fearfully.
Zane smirked slightly when he had Rosie right where he want her. He stepped forward and commented, "I know you want the girl and she wanted to see you again. Here's the deal, I need you specifically to keep Avalon from escaping. Once I have everything I need, I'll let you keep Avalon."
Rosie narrowed her eyes at Zane but glanced at Ava. She felt conflicted. This was obviously a trap but seeing the pleading look from Ava made her feel awful. This little girl is begging for her help without speaking up.
Rosie sigh but added, "What's the catch?"
Zane had a diabolical look on his face while he grinned, "Oh you're a sharp one. During your stay with us, you better not alert anyone where you're at. If you try to contact your parents or Providence, then I won't hesitate to shock them to death when they step foot on my base."
She tried to think about the decision until Ava whispered, "Please...please don't go."
Rosie stared at Ava and knew what she had to do. "Okay...I'll go with you."
"Excellent choi-" Zane remarked until Rosie glared, "But if you try to harm Ava while I'm around, I won't hesitate to fight back. For as long as I'm with her, I will protect and care for Ava even if it means facing you."
Lucas noticed something running towards them from a distance and said, "We better go."
Zane saw Aaron trying to make it to the football field and he grabbed Rosie's arm as he said, "Let's go."
"Rosie!" Aaron yelled and jumped over the small fence that was in front of him. Rosie looked back at him and sadly smiled as she was dragged through the crimson portal.
"I'll be fine...don't follow me." Rosie begged and the portal disappeared when Aaron tried to jump through it. He fell to the ground and groaned, Aaron jolt up and breathe heavily. The one thing Aaron could do right now is call for help.
Aaron frantically pulled out his phone and called Six. He didn't give the agent enough time to answer the call since Aaron yelled, "Sir! We have a problem!"
If Rosie wasn't in a sticky situation, she would be in awe over how advance the base was. She was dragged by Zane and would be zapped slightly if she tried to struggled. Zane reminds Rosie of a human taser and that wasn't a good thing.
"Before we leave you as the nanny, I need to set down some rules." Zane said and looked at Lucas. He added, "Take Avalon back to her room. Have there be guards at her door in case she tries to escape."
"Yes sir." Lucas said and took Ava away. Peeking over Lucas's shoulder, Ava slowly looked at Rosie. Not wanting her to worry, Rosie smiled softly and mouth, "It's okay."
Zane pulled Rosie to a room and ordered, "Have a seat."
Rosie slowly sat down at one of the chairs in the room and glared at Zane. He grinned and crossed his arms, "Now now, don't be like that. I won't harm you."
"Do you expect me to believe that? If looks could kill, I'd be dead." Rosie snort and sat up straight. Without hesitating, Zane strapped a shock collar around Rosie's neck and she muttered, "I'm not an animal."
Suddenly, a shock wave went up to Rosie's body causing her to flinch and fell forward. "What the heck?!" Rosie yelled and tried to take the shock collar off when she felt another shock wave hit her body again.
"Now will you listen?" Zane simply said and Rosie sat up and groaned. She stayed quiet and gave Zane a look indicating that she's listening.
Zane creep close to Rosie and was face to face with her, he said, "This collar will prevent you from going anywhere restricted. You'll be allowed to take care of Avalon. As stated before, I want you to make sure Avalon doesn't want to escape from here. Once my plans are complete then I'll let you go."
Rosie frowned, "But you do realized that Providence will come and find me, so there-"
Zane grinned and crossed his arms, "Where we're at, Providence doesn't have any authorization to come here. So good luck with trying to have someone come here to rescue you or Avalon."
She was skeptical from what Zane said, where could they possibly be? It made her nervous that she might not escape anytime soon. However, Rosie wasn't going to let that stop her from getting away from Zane.
"I'll behave, but you listen to me. While I'm here and taking care of Ava, I won't let you hurt her." Rosie warned causing Zane to laugh and shook his head.
Zane tried to speak when Rosie glared, "This is not a joker. If you so much as try to harm her, I won't stand by and watch. I will protect Ava and keep her safe from you. I'm not afraid of you."
Zane chuckled and stepped away from Rosie before he made his way to the door. "You will be afraid once we're at the final phase of my plan." Zane quietly muttered to himself and motioned for a guard to escort Rosie out.
"Take her to Avalon's room. Make sure she doesn't try anything." Zane ordered the guard and he left.
Rosie got up without any complaints and she followed the guard out of the room. She slowly touched her necklace and fiddle with the green gem. The gem has a small tracker inside and Rosie hopes her parents are able to track her location quickly. She will expect the unexpected since she doesn't know where's she at.
The guard opened a secured room and made Rosie go inside. He locked the door while Rosie stared at Ava. The little girl looked at her anxiously and stayed at her small bed. Rosie carefully approached the bed and kneel down to make eye contact with Ava.
"Hi sweetie. Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." Rosie softly whispered and pat Ava's head as gently as she could. Ava stared at her and Rosie could see some light forming in her hazel eyes.
Ava slowly creep close to Rosie and she reached for her. Rosie picked up the little girl and held her close. "We'll get out of here, I promise. We just need to wait for a perfect moment."
"Do you really think that the girl will help unleash Ava's abilities?" Lucas asked Zane as they were in his office.
Zane looked at some paper work on his desk and remarked, "Ever since the child's first encounter with Rosalind, she has been acting...hopeful. If we give Avalon what she wants, she'll grow attach to Rosalind. Once Avalon is almost close to her happiness, we'll take it away from her in a snap. All the emotional and mental trauma will make her nanites go berserk and make Avalon bring Van Kleiss out of his coma. Then I'll rule along side him once he takes over this pitiful world we live in."
Lucas raised an eyebrow and asked, "What did you have in mind to make Avalon suffer? The girl has been through countless pain and experiments from you. What can break her even more?"
"We strike where it hurts the most. The heart. Rosalind will make Avalon feel loved and happy, she'll make her believe that they can escape if they stay strong. If Rosalind is killed in front of the child, then all hope will be lost. I doubt Providence will arrive in time to stop me." Zane grinned darkly and leaned back in his chair.
Lucas frowned but didn't say anything to trigger Zane.
'I have a bad feeling about this.' Lucas thought and crossed his arms slowly.
What's going to happen next? Drama? Maybe. Suspense? ...maybe? Lol. What am I like this? Luckily I have my ideas written down my special journal. Let's see how long it will take me to write chapter 15...wow. Fourteen chapters and it's almost been two months with this story. I can't believe this is happening. :)
YellowAngela, thank you for always leaving a review for each chapter. It always warms my heart when you leave a review. It does help motivate me into writing more chapters. And I will say this for Rosie...it gets worse. .-. But it will get better. What's a story without a little drama? Hehe. :)
I'll try to update the chapter as quick as I can. Luckily things are slowly settling down here so I'm able to have more free time with my writing. Until then. I'll see you guys in the next chapter. Bye everyone :)
