Without further ado, let the chapter begin~
"Sir what's your situation?" Aaron asked as he pressed the piece in his ear. The only answer he got was some lightning bolts escaping from one of side of the lair's windows. Ava visibly flinched and stared at the lair fearfully.
Aaron mumbled, "I guess that answers my question."
Ava kept looking over Aaron's shoulder to see if Six and Rosie were coming out through the door.
Nothing yet.
However, Zane fell out the window and went crashing down on the window. Aaron pulled out his laser blaster and held it tightly in one hand. While he had Ava in his other arm.
"This is all your fault...no...someone else is to blame for this. And I know who." Zane growled and looked at Aaron and Ava. He stumbled up and clenched his fists tightly when Aaron aimed his blaster at Zane.
"Stay where you are! We have every agents ready to shoot you!" Aaron hissed.
Zane glared at them and started to grinned. Then he started laughing. Zane chuckled darkly, "Good luck trying when you're fried into a crisp!"
Rex jumped out of the window and summon out his Smack Hands. He avoided some attacks from Zane by knocking him down to the ground. "You're seriously annoying!" Rex grunted and Zane slid across the ground. He stopped and Zane stumbled back up again.
A crimson portal appeared behind Zane and he was dragged into the portal.
"Great. He escaped." Aaron muttered and felt Ava tighten her grip on his shirt. Six hurried out of the building with Rosie unconscious in his arms. "We need to get Rosie to a medic now." Six raised his voice.
Ava stared at Rosie and tried to reached her hand out towards her. "I-I can help." Ava whispered.
Six turned his attention to the quiet little girl and then glanced at Rosie. He carried Rosie close to Aaron so Ava can try to heal her. Ava touched Rosie's forehead and they watched as the wound on her head heal started to heal.
Everyone looked at Rosie, they waited for her to wake up. She groaned quietly and slowly opened her eyes, "What the-"
"ROSIE!" Ava squealed and immediately jumped into Rosie's arms. Rosie resist the urge to wince but held Ava in her arms. It was finally over.
"Are you sure you feel fine?" Rebecca softly said and examined Rosie's neck. The blisters went away when Ava helped healing it up. Rosie held Ava in her arms and didn't let her go even when they made it back to the base.
"I'm fine, just a little tired and sore." Rosie admitted.
After finishing Rosie's check up, Rebecca sigh and crossed her arms, "You had us worried sick sweetie."
Rosie felt guilty but looked down at Ava as she softly said, "I'm sorry mom...but you have to admit, it was worth it."
Rebecca focused her attention on Ava and noticed the scars on her arms and legs. "She's finally safe and away from that horrible place. I can't imagine what she's been through."
Ava looked at Rebecca and then at Rosie, they look a lot alike. After glancing at Six, Ava quickly looked away from him. She was hesitant around Six, Ava guessed it was because he looked stern and intimidating.
"I need to run a little check up on her, is that okay?" Rebecca asked and Ava stayed close to Rosie. Rosie looked at Ava and whispered, "Don't be afraid. My mom won't hurt you, I promise."
Ava nodded slightly and reached for Rebecca. Holding Ava in her arms reminded Rebecca of Rosie when she was little. Rosie smiled at them before she got off the bed, Six told her, "You need to give Knight your report on what happened."
"Yippee." Rosie whispered without any enthusiasm in her tone.
"Don't worry it'll be over soon." Aaron promised and approached Rosie. Six sternly added, "Keep your distance Aaron."
Aaron stopped and slowly took a few steps back, Rosie raised an eyebrow. This was new, Rosie wondered what happened while she was gone? Right now wasn't a good time and she looked at Ava before she smiled, "I'll be right back sweetie."
Ava didn't respond, she simply snuggled closer to Rebecca and stayed quiet.
Rosie stepped forward and suddenly felt lightheaded. She fell forward and Aaron quickly dove down to pick her up. "Easy there Rosie." Aaron said and helped her stand up. Rosie admitted, "I'm fine. I just want to go home now."
Six made Rosie sit down and said, "You can give your report tomorrow.
"Yeah. That would be great." Rosie admitted and Rex came in the infirmary.
"You really know how to make us worry Lindy. But you did great out there. You rescued someone, you might be a hero now." Rex proudly said and Rosie slowly shrugged, "I don't feel like a hero. I could have done more."
"Sweetie, you helped Ava and made sure she was safe until we got to you. She's safe from anymore danger." Rebecca said and Ava stared at Rosie, a small smile on her face. Rosie would feel a small tug at her heart whenever she would see Ava smile.
"She'll be staying here until we find a suitable home for her." Rex said and Rosie looked at him.
"Quewha?"
"What do you mean she's staying here?" Rosie said upset as she was facing Knight through the screen. She was obviously upset after finding out that Ava will be Providence's responsibility until they figure out what to do with Ava.
Knight frowned, "This is for the best. The child will stay here and we'll closely monitor her until we figure out what are her powers."
Rosie glared and argued, "She needs to be somewhere besides living in a facility. Ava doesn't trust anyone besides me. What do you think it will look to her if we rescued her and she still ends up living in a facility? Nothing will change for her."
Knight sigh and felt a headache forming. "Are you suggesting that you take responsibility for her?" Knight asked.
"Yes. I'll take care of Rosie until we figure something out. I'm not saying we don't help her control her powers but she needs to heal mentally and emotionally. Ava has been through a lot as it is. Ever since she was a baby, all she ever knows is pain, suffering and fear. Just give me time to help her, I'll give you routine update about her progress." Rosie begged.
Six grabbed Rosie's shoulder and whispered, "Are you sure you're ready for that kind of responsibility?"
Rosie whispered, "I can handle it."
"And what about school? How are you going to handle going to school and taking care of Ava?" Aaron sigh, he thought this was a bad idea until Rosie pointed out, "Well, Ava is a bit at ease around my mom. Maybe Ava can stay with my mom whenever she comes to Providence for some work."
Aaron argued, "But taking care of a child is a big responsibility."
"I can handle it. I spend a few days with Ava and I'm not letting her go until I feel like she's safe." Rosie said and Rex pointed out, "You guys make it seem like Rosie is going to adopt her. Look I trust in Rosie and what's she doing, what about you Six?"
Six turned his attention towards his daughter and said, "If you're ready then I suppose there's no harm in having a child at our home."
"Well, two children. I'm still a kid at heart." Rosie smiled.
"That's the truth." Rex admitted and chuckled faintly.
Ava stared out the window of the jet and looked at the clouds. Rosie was sitting by the window and had Ava on her lap. Aaron was helping Six pilot the jet while Rebecca was sitting beside Rosie.
"Where do you want to sleep Ava? With Rosie or at the guest room?" Rebecca smile and Ava immediately hugged Rosie tightly. She whispered, "With Rosie."
"Thank goodness my bed is big enough for the both of us." Rosie smiled and stroked Ava's hair gently. They were almost home and Rosie couldn't wait to go to bed and see Gizmo again. She adjust Ava in her arms and whispered, "Once we get home, we're going to have dinner. Then you're going to take a bath and later you're going to bed."
"Okay Rosie." Ava said and began to play with Rosie's necklace.
Rosie smiled and held Ava closer as she lay her head on top of Ava's head. Aaron glanced at them and smiled faintly before he said, "Gizmo will be so jealous when he notices someone else is getting your attention."
"How's my little dog?" Rosie gasped and was worried about what happened to her dog while she was gone. Gizmo would be clingy to a certain extend but the canine wouldn't protest when Rosie would leave to go to school. He would be waiting at the window to see when Rosie would walk up to the front door.
"He's been in your room and wouldn't leave unless it was time to eat or to go for a walk." Holiday admitted.
"My poor baby boy." Rosie sadly said and Ava asked, "What's a dog?"
Rosie looked at Ava, she knew the poor girl hasn't been anymore besides the secure base. She never experience things kids her age should experience. When the jet was coming to a landing, Rosie got up and said, "You'll see what a dog is."
"Gizmo might be a little too excited, so be careful." Six told Rosie as they all walked out.
"How excited?" Rosie asked and handed Ava to Rebecca. She spotted Gizmo looking out the window, he stared at Rosie before he started to barked endlessly. Rosie smiled and watched Gizmo moved away from the window.
The back door opened and Gizmo bolted out, he jumped at Rosie making them both fall to the ground.
Rosie laughed happily when Gizmo kept licking her face and tried to stay close to her. "D-Down boy! I miss you too!"
Ava stared at Gizmo as he kept slobbering Rosie with kisses and stayed quiet.
This was going to be a long journey for her.
"Is she finally asleep?" Rebecca asked as she was in the living room with Six and Aaron when Rosie slowly walked downstairs. She set Ava down for bedtime and Rosie made her way to the couch. "It wasn't easy. Ava was a hesitant to sleep on a different bed and was still unsure if things are safe now."
"I don't blame her, Breach escaped with Van Kleiss and Zane. Who knows what their next plan will be." Aaron muttered.
That made Rosie feel a bit uneasy, she didn't like the fact that all three of them escape and could be anywhere in the world. She whispered, "What about Lucas? He is Zane's second in command. Did he escape too?"
"No, he let himself get captured by a few agents without fighting. Which seems strange." Six muttered.
Rosie wasn't sure what was Lucas was planning but she had a bad feeling about this. She admitted, "Well, we'll figure things out soon. It's just good to be back home."
