Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
It was the middle of the night in the Holiday Household, everyone was already asleep. In Rosie's room was Ava, who was still sleeping with Gizmo right beside her. Gizmo became a guardian to Ava ever since she arrived the house. He would follow Ava around and never left her side except when Ava had to use the bathroom or had to take a bath.
'Make sure to take care of Ava when I'm not around Gizmo.' Those words are still logged into Gizmo's head. He was going to be a good dog and listen to his owner.
Except Gizmo felt a little thirsty and hopped off the bed. The door was wide open in the room so Gizmo can come and go as he please. Once the canine left, Ava was all alone in bed.
Suddenly a crimson portal appeared in the room and it made Ava woke up.
She rubbed her eyes slowly before she opened them fully.
"Hello Avalon." Van Kleiss grinned. Ava looked scared and tried to back away from him until Van Kleiss calmly said, "Now now, I'm not here to harm you."
"B-But you're going to hurt Rosie and her parents." Ava fearfully said and held Bun Bun tightly in her arms.
Van Kleiss didn't looked annoyed but he calmly said, "I would never harm the kind people that are taking great care of you. That wouldn't be the right thing to do, don't you agree?"
Ava didn't reply, she didn't know if Van Kleiss was being sarcastic or not. After the constant abuse from Zane, Ava wasn't sure if Van Kleiss is going to the same way to her.
"I'm offering you a choice right now. You can come with me and I can teach you how to control and use your powers. We can be a happy family, isn't that what you wanted? A family?" Van Kleiss grinned.
Ava shook her head slowly and hugged Bun Bun as she whispered, "I-I don't want to go."
She expected Van Kleiss to snap at her until he pat her head. "Don't worry, I'll give you time to rethink your choices. But do keep this in mind Avalon, do you believe the world is a safe place for someone with your talents? You'll see that you will need me."
Ava wasn't convinced and they heard Gizmo heading up the stairs. Van Kleiss started to walk through the portal but looked back at Ava, "Keep our encounter a secret, if you tell anyone then they'll take you away from here. Is that what you want?
Once Van Kleiss left, Ava looked scared and pulled the covers over her head.
Gizmo wondered back inside the room and hopped on the bed. He curled up beside Ava and closed his eyes slowly.
"Have you noticed Ava was quieter than usual this morning?" Rosie asked Aaron while they were walking down the hallways in the school. They were walking to their Art class and only have two more minutes left before the bell starts ringing.
Aaron was holding some of Rosie's textbooks for her and made sure to glance around their surroundings. So far there's no sign of danger, which is a good thing for Aaron. It makes his job a lot easier. "Sometimes kids have their moments. They can be quiet one moment and the next moment they're a pain in the neck." Aaron admitted as they entered the classroom.
Rosie set her stuff on her table before she went to get her ceramic project from the back room.
Aaron sat down next to Rosie's chair and waited for Rosie to come out. After the bell ringed, everyone was getting settled into their assigned seats or getting their art projects.
Aaron did noticed Rosie was taking too long in the back room where all the shelves for the art work are at. He immediately got up and hurried to the back room. Around the corner of the room, a male student was talking to Rosie. It was obvious that Rosie was getting annoyed by the constant chatter from the student as he bragged about himself. What triggered Aaron was when the student asked, "So, are you single? Because I know a pretty girl like you should be with someone like me."
Rosie sigh and tried to answer when Aaron went in the middle of them and glared at the student.
"Back off, she's my girlfriend." Aaron warned and looked intimidating.
The student held his hands up and walked away from them. Rosie looked relief and said, "Thanks Aaron."
Aaron didn't respond but guide Rosie out of the room and helped her organized her stuff.
"Just...don't tell your dad I said that. Otherwise I might end up being a dead man." Aaron quietly said, Rosie simply smiled and said, "Whatever you say...babe."
Knowing that Rosie is teasing him, Aaron decides to go along with it and remarked, "Babe? Come on, you can do better than that mi hermosa rosa."
Hearing Aaron saying those words in Spanish made Rosie's cheeks turn red. Aaron knows Rosie's weakness and he loves using it to his advantage. "I hate you." Rosie blushed and started to focus on her ceramic work. Aaron smiled and watched her trying to shape the clay into a certain shape.
'And I love you...' Aaron thought to himself and they remained silent through the whole class period.
"This is torture." Rosie said in misery as she was trying to continue doing some sit ups. Aaron and Rosie had to do a two hour work out that can range from doing sit ups, push ups, lodges, jogging and other work outs. It was obvious that Rosie was struggling with the sit ups. Aaron was holding her ankles down and commented, "That's only your 20th push up. Keep going."
"That can't be 20!" Rosie yelled and fell back to the ground. Her stomach muscles were aching and Rosie wanted nothing more than to be in her room. She wanted to catch up with the new episodes of My Hero Academia. She was getting to the good part in the series, she was catching up to the episode that Endeavor is fighting a Nomu with Hawks.
"Keep complaining and you won't get any dessert tonight." Six said as he stood behind Aaron.
Rosie puffed out her cheeks, "Hey! That's not fair! We're having cheesecake tonight!"
"Then I suggest you keep going." Six told her. Not wanting to lose her cheesecake privileges, Rosie continued doing some sit ups. It didn't last for very long since Rosie couldn't push herself off the ground. She tried again but her muscles were trying to make her stop.
Rosie stayed quiet and looked at Aaron and Six, "Be honest...am I getting fat?"
"Be careful what you tell her." Six warned Aaron as they both knew it was a trap.
"You look just fine kiddo." They heard Rex tell Rosie from behind them. Rosie looked excited and immediately got up.
"Uncle-ow, Rex-ow." Rosie said as she hurried to hug him tightly. Rex held her and ruffled her hair, "Ready for today's training session?"
Rosie's face dropped, another training session? Rosie will be feeling sore for the while week. Aaron raised an eyebrow and glanced at Six. He said, "Um, what does he mean by the training session?"
"For today's training, you and Rosie will be separated. In the woods, you two have five minutes to distance yourselves. Aaron, you will be going to the left side of the woods, Rosie you'll be going to the right side. Six will be going against Aaron while I'm going against Rosie." Rex explained.
Aaron and Rosie glanced at each other, they weren't sure what to expect. Rosie slowly raised her hand, "Um...Do we need to fight against you two?"
Six answered, "There's a few options. You either run to the safe point or take us down. Its your choice."
"Are we allowed to use weapons?" Aaron wondered.
"Nope." Rex grinned.
Rosie looked a little pale and felt a little worried. Fighting isn't her strongest trait but she can easily hide or run away. Aaron pat her back and said, "Don't worry, you're going to get through this."
Rosie faintly smiled and then questioned, "What time do we start?"
"Right now."
That was all they need to start running. Aaron jumped over the white picket fence while Rosie opened the back gate and ran away. They hurried in the woods and started to head their separate ways.
'I hope Rosie does well with her battle with Rex.' Aaron thought while he kept running and tried to think of a plan.
"Now where could that little rascal be?" Rex casually said while he walked around the woods. He scanned around the area to see if he can find any trace to where Rosie might be. The trees didn't have much leaves for Rosie to hide in, or so he thought.
Rosie carefully jumped from branch to branch once Rex's back was against her direction. She was light on her feet since she knew the second she made a noise, its game over.
Rex turned around to see Rosie landed on the ground with a loud thud. "Fudge cake!" Rosie said in alarm and started running away when Rex started to chase after her. Rex's first move was always using his smack hands and Rosie needs to find a way to avoid them and fast. "No hard feelings, right kiddo?" Rex said and summon his smack hands.
Thinking quick on her feet, Rosie started running towards a tree that she thought was strong enough.
"You can't always hide from danger Rosie!" Rex told her and was about to start swinging the first punch.
Except Rosie kept running straight to the tree and quickly jumped forward. Without hesitating, Rosie made both her feet go against the tree and used the force to push herself off. She turned her body around to land a side kick at Rex's face.
Rex fell down backwards and hit the ground roughly.
"That was a good one Lindy." Rex proudly said while he moved his jaw slowly with his hand.
"Thanks Uncle Rex. Now, I'm going to the second part of my plan." Rosie smiled.
Rex was expecting Rosie to come up with another attack until she turned around and started running away. "...I taught her well." Rex grinned as he summon his boogie pack to follow her.
Aaron kept blocking Six attacks by keeping his arms together in front of him.
It was almost like a shield to Aaron since he didn't have anything to defend himself. Aaron jumped back after Six threw some shuriken at him. "Not showing any mercy, are you sir?" Aaron joked and backed away cautiously.
"And you've been slacking on your training." Six sternly said and charged at Aaron.
Aaron tried to do a side kick but Six grabbed Aaron's ankles.
"Shit!" Aaron quickly said as he was throw against the ground. He groaned faintly and struggled to get up.
Six wasn't holding, it almost seems like he's been waiting to beat him to a pulp.
"Sir, why do I feel like you want to kill me." Aaron said in misery.
Six smirked slightly and said, "What makes you say that?"
"I've trained with you before. This is different than the rest of them." Aaron said and struggled to get up. Six approached Aaron and held his hand out for him. Once Aaron was finally up, he slowly cracked his back.
"I will admit this, I'm not at the level where I'm suppose to be." Aaron sigh.
Six admitted, "There's always room for improvement. I can help you with your training."
Aaron sat on the ground and felt conflicted, he wanted to say something but knew that this wasn't a good time. Before they could continue, they noticed Rosie running past them with Rex following close behind her.
Rosie made sure to run zigzag around some trees to avoid Rex.
"I see things are going well for Rosie." Aaron said and they noticed Rex accidentally slammed his face on a branch. Rosie stopped running when she noticed Rex fell down on the ground. She hurried back and tried to help her uncle up.
Six said, "She's fast and creative but has a big heart. That will cause some problems for her when she's with enemies that are heartless."
Aaron shook his head but smiled when Rosie struggled to pull Rex up. She slipped and they both fell down on the ground.
"Sir, maybe we should head back." Aaron recommended.
Six nod his head and they followed Rex and Rosie when they started racing each other to the house. Aaron heard his phone ringed and he pulled it out. He noticed he has a message from his aunt and started to frown.
"What's wrong?" Six said when he noticed Aaron looked a little pale.
"Sir, my aunt send me a text. She got into a car accident with my sister in the car." Aaron worriedly said.
Six frowned, "Are they okay?"
Aaron moved his hair back and mumbled, "My sister is fine but my aunt got a broken arm. She needed a few stitches on her forehead. This is where I'm getting worried. Aunt Sera told me she was driving home when some lighting hit the car."
"Lighting?" Six said, he had a feeling that it might have been Zane who caused the attack.
Aaron nodded and started to text Sera that he would be heading to the hospital soon. He looked at Six and whispered, "Don't tell Rosie about this, I don't want her to think that this might be her fault. I've got a bad feeling about this, this might be a warning message from Zane."
Here we go again, this might not end well for Aaron now. Let's see how this would go for him.
