Without further ado, let the chapter begin!

"Do you think Aaron will call Auntie?" Aurora asked her aunt while she was in her booster seat. Sera was driving down a vacant road and glanced at the rear view mirror.

Seeing her niece's face all gloomy made Sera's heart drop.

Ever since Aaron joined Providence two years ago, he wasn't able to return home easily. Aaron devote his time to his work, every week he would try to call them to see how they were doing.

Recently, Aaron's new mission to become a bodyguard, he wouldn't have time to Face Time with them.

"I'm sure he will. Aaron's busy with his work. I know he misses you, maybe we can try to call him when we get home." Sera reassures her.

Aurora didn't reply buy started to look out of the window. They were passing some trees and it was still dark out. She never like the outdoors much. She knew that in the darkness, there could be danger.

Sera sigh quietly and decides to focus on driving. There were times that she wishes the family didn't suffer. Sera was fairly young when she gain guardianship of Aaron and Aurora. The thought of them being separated and in foster homes was enough for Sera to fight for custody.

It wasn't an easy task. Sera remembered all the sleepless nights she had. All the times in the courthouse and getting the right documents. Especially the constant visits from the social workers.

Sera wonders if her sister Camila would be okay with what she's been doing...

Suddenly Sera noticed someone standing in the middle of the road. She placed her foot on the breaks but something seems wrong. The person slowly lifted his head up and Sera noticed his cold green eyes.

Before Sera could react, the man lifted his hand and shot lighting at the car.

Everything went dark from there.

Sera felt nothing but pain in her body. She couldn't move her left arm since it was in a cast. Her head was throbbing like crazy and she wishes it would stop.

Except that wasn't what she was concerned about the most.

Sera held Aurora tightly in her arms, she looked at the doctor tending her and whispered, "Are you sure she's okay? Does she have a concussion? I can understand if she needs to see a psychologist."

"Ma'am, everything is perfectly fine with your niece. Although seeing a children's psychologists would be helpful for her. That was a bad car accident you two were in." The doctor admitted and handed Sera a paper.

It was a prescription for some medicine to help with the pain.

They heard a knock on the door and Calan entered the room with two agents behind him.

"I assumed Aaron called for someone to check on me." Sera quietly said and felt Aurora tighten her grip on her shirt.

Calan approached her and admitted, "Aaron is concerned for the both of you. We believe that this wasn't an accident. Before I could tell you more, is it okay if we take the little one somewhere else?"

Sera looked down at Aurora and then at Calan, "If Aaron is here, then he can take her."

Two agents were talking into walkie talkies, they were discussing about Aaron's whereabouts. One of them went to Calan and whispered something in his ear. Sera had a feeling that Aaron would be coming in the hospital soon.

She knows her nephew better than his own father.

Suddenly Aaron burst through the room while he panted heavily.

"Are you okay?" Aaron whispered completely out of breathe.

Aurora quickly got out of her aunt's arms and hurried to Aaron. "Aaron!" Aurora squealed when Aaron picked her up and didn't let her go. He looked at his aunt, he was horrified to see how injured she was.

"I'm fine Aaron. Can you take Aurora out of the room for a moment? They need to question me." Sera calmly said.

Not wanting to make Aurora worry, Aaron reluctantly agreed and slowly left the room.

Sera smiled slightly, she went to sit down up straight on the bed and said, "I'm ready for the questions."

Aaron carried his little sister down the hallway and kissed her forehead. He didn't like that his family was getting caught in the cross fire. Ever since he joined Providence, Aaron promised that he would give them a better life. But that immediately backfired just now.

Aurora slowly poked Aaron's cheek and whispered, "Are you coming home soon?"

"I wish I could princess, but I still need to do my job." He sigh.

The disappointment in Aurora's eyes was enough to make Aaron flinched. He never liked to see his sister like this, he wanted her to have the best life. Right now, it hasn't been easy for either one of them.

Aurora lay her head against Aaron's shoulder and puffed out her cheeks.

Aaron sigh quietly and kissed her forehead, "Sorry princess."

He felt his phone vibrating with notifications. Aaron adjust Aurora in one arm and used his free hand to look at his phone. There was a few messages from Rosie, a few of the texts were asking him if he was okay. Or if he needs to talk to her when he got home.

Aurora peeked at his phone and noticed the name on the contact, "Who's Pretty Angel?

"No one." Aaron quickly said and carried Aurora to the waiting room. Six was already talking to a few officers that were on the scene of the accident.

Since Six was busy, Aaron decides to sit down on one of the chairs in the waiting room. He held Aurora on his lap and looked exhausted. All the stress was getting to his head. If Aaron knew that his family would be at risk because of his mission, then he would have backed out.

But then again, working for Providence would be a risk. Aaron couldn't blame that on his work or anyone else.

"Aaron?" Six asked as he stood in front of him.

Aaron glanced up at him and said, "Yes sir?"

"It seems that Zane is on the move. His target might be on your Aunt and sister for the time being." Six admitted.

"What do you suggest that we do?" Aaron sigh quietly.

Six looked at Aurora while she cuddled close to her brother. He said, "We can put your family into hiding for the time bein-"

Aaron immediately frowned and interrupted, "But my sister has school. She can't leave right away."

"It'll only be temporary Aaron. Unless you have other options." Six said causing Aaron to think something for a while.

Back at the Holiday household, Rosie and Rebecca were cleaning up kitchen while Ava was in the living room.

Ava peeked out the window that was facing the backyard and noticed someone from a distance. She stared, the figure was approaching the back gates and Ava became uneasy. The figure was revealed to be Van Kleiss.

Carefully Ava quietly walked to the hallway. She peeked inside the kitchen, Rosie and Rebecca were trying to make some ice cream sundaes. Ava stared at the ice cream and drooled slightly.

Even though Ava wants some ice cream, she had to focus on something else.

She hurried away and opened the back door.

Ava walked out of the house, she made her way to the woods that was near the backyard.

Both father and daughter were facing to each other. Ava whispered, "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see how you were doing." Ava questioned him.

Van Kleiss touched Ava's head, she felt a small zapped at the top of her skull. It didn't hurt Ava but it did startled her. Van Kleiss mumbled, "You were overloading yourself with excess nanites. As your father, I want to make sure you're better."

Ava stared at Van Kleiss and tilt her head. She was told Van Kleiss was the enemy, right now he wasn't acting like the enemy. He seems to be acting like a father. However, Ava notices that its different than how she sees Six and Rex are like around the kids.

Van Kleiss pulled out something from his pocket and held it out for Ava.

What Van Kleiss had in his hand was a picture. It was a picture of Stephanie with Zane when he was a little boy. Ava stared at the picture in awe and whispered, "Is that mommy?"

"Of course. I want you to have this." Van Kleiss said and handed the picture to her.

Ava stared at the picture of her mother and started to smiled. Stephanie still seems like a total stranger to her, but Ava knew that she was her mother. "Thank you." Ava whispered and they heard Rosie called out, "Ava? Where are you?"

Ava gasped and turned her head to see Rosie was looking for her inside the house. Van Kleiss rolled his eyes but nudge Ava forward, "Go on."

The child stared at Van Kleiss and then whispered, "Are you...coming back again?"

"I will from time to time. As of right now, I won't harm your caretakers for now. If you want to see me then just call out to me." Van Kleiss told his daughter.

Ava nodded slightly and hugged his leg tightly. Van Kleiss resist the urge to look disgusted but pat Ava's head.

Ava began to ran back to the backyard while Van Kleiss watched her carefully. He remained hidden in the shadows when Zane appeared behind him.

"Was the plan successful?" Van Kleiss asked.

Zane nodded, "The bodyguard's family was a warning message. I still don't understand why we don't take the child and get it over with."

Van Kleiss began to chuckled and had a sinister grin on his face. "Give your sister some time, she's still a naive child. Once I gain her trust, she'll go with us willingly and listen to our orders with hesitation. Avalon will learn that no one will understand how to control or contain her powers."

Zane didn't look convinced but didn't dare to disobey his father. He crossed his arms and looked at the house from the woods. Through the window, Zane saw Rosie and Ava were enjoying some ice cream with Rebecca on the couch while they watched a movie.

To Zane, they reminded him of a happier time. It was time like this that Zane misses his mother. As each day passes, Zane would have a huge urge to kill Ava. He knew that for as long he's alive, the hatred in Zane's heart won't die.

'I hate you...I hate you parasite.' Zane thought to himself.

"Do you like your secret box?" Rosie asked.

Ava smiled slightly and held the decorated wooden box. When Ava came back inside the house, Rebecca noticed the picture in Ava's hands. Ava kept the picture hidden away from them since she didn't know how to explain to them how she got a picture of Stephanie.

So Rebecca decides to give Ava a wooden box that she had in an attic.

When Rosie wanted some privacy a few years ago, Rebecca gave her a box to keep things inside that she wanted to keep secret.

The point for the box was to make sure the girls can keep their stuff hidden. If they had a letter than they didn't want Rebecca or Six to see, then they would put it in the box. The adults weren't allowed to see what's inside the secret box. It was to respect their privacy.

"Where do I hide it?" Ava asked Rosie.

Rosie smiled softly and guide Ava to her closet. The little girl stared at the floor in shock when Rosie picked up one tile and saw the hole in the ground. "This is a secret spot, you can use it to keep your box in. Just don't take any of the stuff in here."

"Okay!" Ava smiled.

Rosie pat her head and got up, "I'll be right back."

Ava was busy paying attention to her box to noticed Rosie leaving the room. As Rosie left her room, she noticed Aaron's door was wide open. She smiled brightly and walked inside the room, "Welcome back, is everything oka-Are you packing your bags?"

Aaron sigh quietly, he had a suitcase on the bed and packed some clothes. "Something personal is going on in my family, so Six is giving me some time off. I can't stay here like I did before, but I'll join you at school."

"What happened? Is your sister okay?" Rosie whispered.

Aaron sigh, "She's fine, my aunt got into an accident. I need to help her recover and maybe find a different house that's near by your house."

Seeing that Aaron was stressed, Rosie decides to help him pack.

"Don't worry about your mission to be my bodyguard. Focus on your family, help your aunt feel better and spend some time with your sister." Rosie gently told him while she set the folded clothes in the suitcase.

Aaron stayed quiet, he slowly wrapped his arms around Rosie and held her tightly. Rosie hugged him back and rubbed his back. She hoped to calm him down by being there for him.

Little did they know that this was the only beginning to what's to come later.
