Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
At Ceramic class, Rosie was sitting by herself at her table. She was using a scarper to help smooth out some excess clay from her project. This week, her class was working on making a box. It could be any shape as long as it has a lid that fits.
Rosie set the scraper down and examined her box. The sides were stick together but Rosie needs to figure out how to decorate it. She was thinking about making sides about Marvel and the other two about DC.
As Rosie started sketching in her art journal, a boy around the same age as her approached Rosie.
He cleared his voice and smiled, "Excuse me, I think you forgot this."
Looking up, Rosie noticed the boy had a wood modeling tool in his hand. She glanced at her tools on the table. Before Rosie could start any clay assignments, she made sure to grab all the tools she needs and then sits down.
She noticed that she did have the modeling tool in her small pile and looked at the boy again.
"I didn't forgot it, I have it right here." Rosie said.
The boy smiled and smoothly said, "Yeah I know, I just needed an excuse to come and talk to you."
Rosie dropped her metal loop tool and stared at the boy. She felt her cheeks burning up, it was impossible for her to speak. The boy decides to save her the humiliation and asks, "Can I sit here?"
"Sure?" Rosie slowly said.
The boy sat down across of Rosie at the table and introduced himself, "The name's Farron, Farron Quint."
Rosie smiled and shook his hand, "I'm Rosalind, Rosalind Holiday. But everyone calls me Rosie."
Farron noticed Rosie's artwork and got interested, "So you're a fan girl for Captain America?"
Not wanting to get in trouble by Mr. Nelson, Rosie went back to working on her box. She was focusing on sticking Captain America's shield on one side of the box when she admitted, "He's a righteous man, I love how he sticks to what he believes in. He's one of my favorite heroes in the Marvel Universe. I'm having trouble trying to figure out what to do for the lid."
Farron glanced at the slab box, one side was Captain America theme, the other is Iron Man theme, the last two was Batman and Green Lantern. He suggested, "Why not make Thor's hammer on top of the lid?"
Rosie stopped wedging the shield on the box and stared at Farron. She wondered how did she not think about that sooner.
"That's a great idea." Rosie smiled and got up to leave the table. She hurried to get some more clay, Farron watched her and stayed quiet. He pretend to be working on a drawing when Mr. Nelson was passing by the table.
Rosie walked back with a chunk of clay in her hands. She walked past Suzie's table and didn't make eye contact. Suzie held her foot out to make Rosie trip. Farron heard a loud thud and a splat noise.
Rosie was on the ground with the clay smudged on her shirt and face.
"Rosalind, what happened?" Mr. Nelson frowned.
Farron got up and helped Rosie up.
"Nothing. I just tripped." Rosie sigh quietly.
Driving home was one of the few things that helped Rosie relaxed. Ever since she got her license, Rosie felt a bit more independent. It was better than going to the school bus.
Rosie focused as she made a turn to her street. When Rosie made it home, she parked at the driveway and turned off the car. After she pulled out her keys, Rosie got out of the car. Before Rosie could grab her backpack from the back trunk, she heard a familiar voice call out to her.
"Rosie!" Ava squealed when she ran out of the front door.
It took a second for Rosie to process what's going on. But Rosie immediately ran to Ava and held her arms out, "AVA!"
The little girl jumped in Rosie's arms causing them to fall backwards. They simply laughed and were happy to finally reunite.
"What are you doing here Ava? I thought you weren't allowed to leave the base until Van Kleiss was caught?" Rosie smiled and held Ava tightly.
Ava smiled and said, "Ms. Kenwyn said its okay for me to visit! But we need to go to the main base soon."
Rosie raised an eyebrow, they were going to the main base? For what?
"Actually, your parents are going to the base while I keep an eye on you and Ava." Aaron smiled as he appeared at the front door.
Ava was set on the ground, she giggled when Rosie started to run towards Aaron. He looked surprised when Rosie hugged him tightly. Aaron wrapped his arms around her and held Rosie close.
"We're back!" Ava giggled and went to Aaron and Rosie.
"Yeah, our mini gang is here." Rosie softly said while she looked happy.
"So how's your assignment going along? I heard that you're finally going on some Providence missions." Rosie asked while she watched Ava started to climb on the monkey bars.
Aaron stood behind Rosie and crossed his arms, "We're close to finding Van Kleiss, we just need to find him at the right location. From our sources, they've spotted him around the world. Some of the sources are reliable, while others were just myths."
Rosie was relieved to hear that, she watched Ava running to the slide.
"Once Van Kleiss is caught, Ava can stay with my family until we find a suitable home for her." Rosie said.
Aaron crossed his arms, "Why don't you suggest to your parents that they should adopt Ava?"
Rosie blushed in embarrassment as she twiddled her thumbs around.
"Its not that I don't want to tell them. But I have to think about Ava first. Who knows what the future will hold." Rosie whispered.
They remained quiet when Ava started to run back to the slide again. Ava sat on the top of the slide. She looked over at Aaron and Rosie and smiled.
Rosie started to wave at Ava and Aaron simply nod his head.
Seeing them together made Ava's heart warm up a little more. She did noticed they were trying to make small talk but nothing happened.
Ava went down the slide and ran to them.
"Can we get some ice cream?" Ava asked while she reached for Rosie. Without hesitating, Rosie picked her up and held her.
Rosie admitted, "Ice cream does sound nice."
Doing homework wasn't fun for Rosie. After Aaron and Ava left, Rosie was left to sulk in her room. She was trying to finish her Spanish worksheet.
This was a requirement to graduate from high school, so Rosie had to finish the class before graduation. It was tricky at times.
"I'm almost on my way back. How are you going along with the homework?" Aaron said. His face appeared on Rosie's laptop. They were face timing each other for a while, Aaron did need Rosie's help with figuring out how to find Van Kleiss.
"Terminé mi tarea. Gracias a dios." Rosie sigh.
Aaron made a face and asked, "Did you say that you finished your homework, thank good?"
"It's actually thank goodness." Rosie smiled.
She put her worksheets and notebook away in her backpack. Aaron was moving some papers and grabbed a sharpie. He was circling and crossing out some of the locations that he marked. Rosie started to print some pictures out with her printer and grabbed them. She started to pin them on her board and said, "Okay Aaron, what places are you sure that he's not at?"
Aaron looked at some files and skimmed through the papers.
"There's a hospital at Washington DC. I cross that one off because Van Kleiss wouldn't be hiding there." Aaron told her.
Hearing that the hospital was crossed off made Rosie frowned.
It would be wise for Van Kleiss not to be hiding at a hospital but Rosie had a feeling about this. She went back to her laptop and started researching.
"Hey Aaron, what hospital are you talking? There are like dozen of them at Washington DC." Rosie asked while she kept typing.
"Its the one near the White House." Aaron mumbled.
Rosie stopped and stared at Aaron in the screen. The White House is where the President is at, that would be a perfect place to strike if Van Kleiss was at the hospital. She looked through the files that the hospital kept in their data. A familiar face appeared on her screen.
"Aaron, isn't Michael Rivers one of the scientists that worked for Providence when Black Knight took control?" Rosie whispered.
Aaron didn't think much of it and replied, "Yes. However when White Knight finally returned and took control, Michael decides to quit and started working in the medical field. So he opened up a few hospitals at Washington DC. Rivers became well known in the community for his work, right now he's trying to work on how to use the Nanites for medicines."
Rosie started thinking, Michael Rivers did attend meetings with her mother and a few other scientists about the Nanites. Something was poking at her brain. It made her come up with a few theories.
"Give me a few minutes, I need to find out some info on the doctor." Rosie murmured.
Aaron raised an eyebrow, he didn't protest and watched Rosie on the screen. She was focused and biting her bottom lip. The sound of her keyboards was music to Aaron's ears and he saw her scribbling some notes down on her notebook.
"Aaron, check this out. I'm sending you some links that shows some files about patients that passed away." Rosie whispered.
Aaron frowned, "Why are you sending me that?"
Rosie looked at the camera and said, "Call me crazy but pay attention to the patients. Some of them had disabilities, terminal illnesses or had cancer. In their files, they died at the hospital but they were cremated."
Aaron started to wonder where this was going but let Rosie continued. He began to notice something, one of the links that Rosie send was a contract. Once Aaron started to skim through the contract, he noticed a line.
Never reveal any information that we give you to anyone else beside to Doctor Rivers. If the rule is broken then we will seek legal actions against the relatives of the patient.
"This is getting suspicious." Aaron muttered.
Rosie looked at the map of the city in her laptop, she started to make the hospitals that Rivers owned. The location of the hospitals surrounded the White House in a circle. The main hospital was a few miles away from the White House and Rosie looked stunned.
"Aaron, what if Van Kleiss was hiding at this one? Hear me out, in My Hero Acad-"
Aaron looked annoyed and interrupted, "Dude, please don't tell me you're basing this off of your anime show."
"Hear me out! Recently in the manga, the Pro Heroes went to a hospital that the villain doctor worked at. It was reveal that Tomura Shigaraki was hidden in the lower levels while he was being worked on. By the time the heroes showed up and tried to stop the doctor and Tomura, all the madness went on. Look, if I was a villain and I woke up from a five year coma, I would stay hidden in a hospital. If Providence tried to catch me, I could cause damaged by striking the hospital and then the White House if I was bold and daring. Think about this, if Van Kleiss's powers are still strong, he won't hesitate to take down anything in his path. Providence would be to blame for any casualties if they find him there and started a fight." Rosie admitted.
"That's actually a good theory Rosie." They heard Rebecca said from behind Rosie.
Rosie screamed and accidentally fell backwards from her seat. If it weren't for Six catching her, Rosie would have hurt herself.
"Hi Mrs. Holiday. Hello sir." Aaron waved and chuckled as Rosie was trying to regain her posture.
"How long were you standing there?" Rosie whispered faintly.
Six said, "Long enough to hear to see your points about Van Kleiss' whereabouts"
Rosie blushed in embarrassment and scratched the back of her head. Thinking that her theory was pure nonsense, Rosie admitted, "I was probably being silly about this. There's no way that Van Kleiss would do something like this."
Rebecca looked through Rosie's laptop and frowned, "You're probably not wrong on this one sweetie. This does seem suspicious with the evidence you've obtained. Michael would act suspicious at the meetings by any questions about how would the nanites turn someone EVO. We're keeping an eye on him for the time being. But we didn't think about watching him from his work place."
Looking genuinely shocked, Rosie was surprised to hear that her parents were giving her ideas a chance. She felt a little proud and smiled sheepishly.
"Now I will ask you this Rosie. How did you managed to hack into the hospital's systems without getting caught? I didn't teach you any of this." Rebecca said looking at her daughter.
Rosie turned bright red and avoid looking at her parents, "Okay before you ground me, I just wanted to point out that this might help us in the future. So should we really ask how I know about this?"
Rebecca narrowed her eyes, "Have you tried to hack into Providence's data before?"
"...No..." Rosie slowly denied.
That's it for Chapter 26, this was interesting to write out. I would get ideas from watching my favorite shows and movies, they inspire me :)
Thank you for your reviews at the last chapter YellowAngela. I did noticed they weren't appearing on the site, so I had to email fanfic about it. But by the time I send the email, the reviews showed up. Maybe it was some technical issues? Lol. I'm a horrible person for letting Rosie suffer Dx But things might get better for her :) and I had to put that reference in, it was too tempting XD
Right now, I want to focus on writing chapter 6 of Childhood Memories but I might work on that with chapter 27. So I can't give a good estimate of when will I publish both stories. But I'll try to post something by next week. Thank you for your patience and I hope you have a great night :)
