Being a superhero is not easy.
It's a hard job but Danny Fenton never once regretted telling his parents about his powers. He never really meant to but it just happened.
"We love you, sweetie. You."
"Whether you're ghost, boy, or something in between."
A smile always slips onto his face when he thinks about his mom worrying about him packing the Fenton Thermos whenever he leaves for school or how silly they felt when they realized all their inventions had detected him all this time. They always had his back and now he was happy to have his parents to rely on instead of sneaking behind their back.
He breathed in the fresh air as he walked down the street. He'd gotten much taller with age and his shoulders had broadened. Now in his final year of high school, he was going to kiss Amity Park, and his life as a superhero, goodbye in order to go to college, get a job and settle down. He and his parents had already talked about taking over the ghost hunting when he's gone.
A flash of green soon whizzed by him followed by the Guys in White. Danny quirked a brow and glanced down at his watch. "I've got time," he shrugged to himself.
Did I mention the Guys in White were on his side too? Well, at least, the ones that dealt with Amity Park. They kept the government in the dark about Danny and Danny helped them with the more powerful ghosts.
Quickly ducking into an alley, Danny changed into Phantom and zoomed after the ghost. It was only a matter of cornering the slippery little thing and sucking it up into the thermos. After a trade off with the Guys in White and rescuing an old lady's cat, Danny found himself tracing a robber up to the roof of a building.
"Look," Danny smirked charging up an ecto-blast as the thief pulled out a gun, "I know diamonds are a girl's best friend but do you really need that many?"
The thief's hands were shaking as they held out the gun, "Hey man, I-"
He was cut off by a chunk of ice hitting him right in the head and a leg kicking him to the ground. Danny looked over as a blonde girl walked out from the shadows wearing a blue jumpsuit. "I had it handled you know," he said as he relaxed out of his stance.
"Sure you did," she shrugged, "I just took him out for you."
"Cause his attention was on me."
"A simple 'thank you' would work."
The guy groaned as he sat up, "Listen, the lady got me first-" He was cut off by a punch from her that knocked him back out.
The blonde retracted her fist and looked up at Danny, "You know, we did work together."
"I work alone," Danny teased as he crossed his arms over his chest.
She stepped closer and pressed a hand to his chest. "Well, I think you need to be a little more," she snapped her fingers, making ice appear on the robber's wrists to bind them together without even looking back at him, "Cool."
"Are you doing anything later?" he blinked back at her.
She stepped away from him and shrugged, "I have a previous engagement." She sent him one last flirtatious smirk before leaping over the edge of the roof and landing gracefully on the fire escape.
Danny let out a low whistle before a familiar annoying voice rang through the air. "Think fast ghost boy!" Danny groaned as a computer was flung at him and he rolled his eyes as Technus appeared before him, ready for a fight.
Danny dodged the next couple of blasts before finally getting knocked down into the pavement of the street. He jumped up the second he heard a beeping next to him and created a force field, blocking the bomb's force but blowing him back a bit.
"Looks like you need a little help."
Danny's eyes snapped open at the sound of a familiar voice, "Oh no."
Dash Baxter, clad in some sort of invention that Vlad had probably given him. The old fruitloop decided that the slower and dumber students were easier to manipulate and use to get into Danny's way. After all, Danny would never let anything bad happen to an innocent person. "Get out of here Dash," Danny said as he continued to block blasts of technology, "It's too dangerous."
"Do you mind?!" Technus yelled to the blonde teenager, "We're in the middle of something."
"Aw come on, just give me a chance. Wait," Dash perked up, "I'll go and find the Guys in White!" He went to run past Technus but the ghost tagged a bomb onto him.
"Dash wait!" Danny lept forward and ripped the bomb off of Dash and throwing it as far as he could.
But to his dismay, it landed and exploded on a set of train tracks, destroying a part of the tracks. Danny groaned to himself when he saw a train was coming. He flew into action and landed on the tracks in front of the train. Using his super strength, he put his arms out and slowed down the train as it slammed into him, stopping it just as it reached the destroyed portion. As the Guys in White arrived, Danny huffed when he noticed Technus was gone.
He went to report it to the Guys in White but halfway through talking them through it, he glanced at the city hall clock, "Oh crud is that the time?!" he asked before checking his watch, "I'm late." With that, he rushed off, leaving the GIW with Technus's last whereabouts.
He flew as fast as he could and landed in front of the Nasty Burger, changing into Fenton. He walked in and immediately spotted his girlfriend in their usual booth having her usual chocolate milkshake.
"You're late," she said as he sat down next to her in the booth.
He sighed, "I know."
"When you asked me if I was doing anything later, I didn't realize you'd forgotten," Elsa said, "I thought it was playful banter."
"It was playful banter."
She turned to look at him with a slight glare, "Cutting it kinda close, Danny. I mean, the amount of sorry looks I've gotten from customers and employees is ridiculous."
"You need to be a little more… cool."
She sighed and turned to him, taking his hand in her own, "I love you, Danny. But, if we're gonna make this work then you have to be more than Danny Phantom. You know that."
"I do," he nodded before offering her a tired smile, "And I will do the best I can." Her serious expression was broken and a soft, adoring smile crept onto her face, giving Danny the okay to pull her close to him and kiss her sweetly. He pulled away and pulled a small gift wrapped box out of his pocket and placed it on the table. He smiled at her. "Happy anniversary, princess."
Adjusting to a new life was hard for Danny. There were no more ghosts to fight and even if there were, they were peaceful and didn't hurt anybody. He didn't realize how different his life would be without being the town hero. But it gave him the opportunity to get through college and get a job, one that, while he hated it, would pay for his family and student loans.
Oh right, he has a family now.
Married to Elsa, they had a beautiful baby boy. Elsa had stopped working to become a stay at home mom in their small, quiet suburban house. It wasn't quite the life he had pictured for himself when he left college but he was happy to call his high school sweetheart his wife and he would do what he needed to to support his family.
But on days like this, he had major headache moments. Working for an insurance company run by an asshole who only wants to make a profit, Danny was sitting at his desk in front of a sobbing old woman. The phone then rang and he let out a huff before answering it. "Daniel Fenton."
"I'm calling to celebrate a momentous occasion," Elsa's voice came through the phone, "We are now, officially moved in! And I wanted to tell you I put the last few ecto-blasters in your office."
Danny suppressed a smile at his adorable wife but glanced back at the woman in front of him, "Yeah princess, now is not a great time."
"Alright," she teased, "Go save the world one policy at a time. But don't forget Sam and Tucker are coming over for dinner tonight."
He allowed himself one moment to smile at her before quickly saying goodbye and hanging up on her and turning to the older woman who was now blubbering to him. When signed up for this job, he thought he would actually get to help people in disasters when in reality it was just a ploy to make money. He paused for a moment before leaning up and around his cubicle to make sure no one else was listening.
When he saw no one was, he grabbed a pen and paper and slid it over to her. "Alright listen closely, I'd like to help you but I can't. I'd like to tell you to take a copy of your policy to Norma Wilcox-" he stopped when he noticed she wasn't writing this down before tapping the paper, making her pick it up and scribble what he was saying down, "Norma Wilcox on the third floor, but I can't. I also do not recommend that you fill out and file and WS-2475 form with our with our legal department on the second floor. I do not expect someone to get back to you quickly to resolve the matter," he gave her a smile and stood up, "I'd like to help, but there's nothing I can do."
The old woman smiled, "Oh, thank you-"
"Sh," Danny shushed her before saying extra loud, "I'm sorry ma'am, I know you're upset!" He leaned back down to her level and whispered, "Pretend to be upset."
The old woman then ran out of his office sobbing like crazy and Danny couldn't help but smile a little. But that smile soon faded when his team manager showed up at his office minutes later.
Sam and Tucker had both made lives for themselves as well. Sam was into political science and lobbying and Tucker was in graduate school for Tech Engineering. "Elsa," Tucker called to the blonde at the head of the table who was feeding the little blue eyed Fenton boy, "You're making weird faces again."
"Tucker, when you have a baby that you need to get food into, then you can complain," Elsa said in her baby voice without even looking at him.
"You make weird faces, princess," Danny called from his side of the table, earning a look that told him to be quiet.
Sam casted a glance at Tucker, "Anyway, brainiac here has been acting like a five year old again."
"Hey!" Tucker protested.
Elsa quirked a brow, "What did he do?"
"He's been wearing his suit."
The suits, all specially designed for each teen at the height of their ghost hunting career by Paulina, who had a secret talent for engineering and design. Elsa's allowed her to control ice, Sam's let her turn invisible and create force fields, and Tucker had super speed. They were all supposed to help Danny when the ghost fighting had gotten really bad the summer before college. But soon after, Vlad Masters, and Plasmius, disappeared, taking most harmful ghostly threats with him.
"And what's worse," Sam crossed her arms, "He's pulling middle schooler pranks by putting thumbtacks on teacher's chairs."
"You could barely see me on tape," Tucker defended.
Danny sat forward, "They caught you on tape and you still got away with it? How fast you think you were going?"
Elsa and Sam rolled their eyes at the boys before the doorbell rang. Elsa got up and opened the door. The girl on the other side smiled at her as she opened the door. "Elsa!" she yelled as she tackled the blonde in a hug.
Elsa laughed and hugged her back, "It's good to see you too Dani."
"Hi Sam, Tucker, Danny," she waved, letting go of Elsa, "Ready to go?"
Danny stood from the table and nodded. Elsa raised a brow before remembering, "Oh right, flyinging night." Every few nights or so, Danny and Dani would go out flying just to relieve stress.
The two transformed before turning intangible and flying through the roof. They flew through the sky for a bit before heading towards the city. They flew around each other and through buildings, remaining invisible the whole time, but Danny stopped when he heard the sound of a police radio. Looking down on the sidewalk, he watech two cops listening to the radio com on their uniforms and Danny smiled as he heard the incident report.
Dani came back to him and he smiled at her, "Do you wanna catch a robber?"
She crossed her arms and gave him a look, "Quite frankly, no. Hey, what if we actually did what your wife thought we were doing? Just to shake things up."
"Come on Dani," Danny huffed, and few up to a rooftop, landing on it, "You get to travel the world as you please. I'm stuck here. Helping people is something I can't give up."
Dani landed next to him, "Danny, you love Elsa. You've got something good going. You've got a family, a job. Besides, no one asked us to help."
He gave her a look, "You need an invitation?"
"I'd like one, yes."
He sighed before a random thought popped into his head, "Do you remember Ecto-Beam?"
"The ghost hunter?" she asked, receiving a nod, "Yeah, he was a pain in my butt when I visited Florida."
"Well, he's missing," Danny said, "A lot of ghosts and ghost hunters have been dropping off the grid."
She shrugged, "Ghosts just aren't as relevant of a problem as they were when you first got your powers." She paused and let out a sigh, "Look, this was fun the first time, but if we keep doing this then-"
The was cut off by the sound of an explosion and they both turned to see a building in the distance in flames. Danny turned to her with a slight smile. After a few moments, she huffed, "Fine, let's go."
With that, they flew off towards the building, not aware that they were being watched.
Danny returned home to find Elsa in her robe sitting in the family room. "I thought you'd be back by eleven," she said to him, standing and crossing her arms.
Caught red handed, he offered her a small smile, "Well… I'm back." He turned go to their room but was stopped when he felt a hand on his wrist.
He was turned back to her and met her icy stare. She examined him for a moment before reaching up and picking a small piece of drywall out of his hair. "Is this rubble?"
"It was just a little work out," he defended, "Just to stay loose."
Elsa frowned at him, "You know how I feel about this Danny. We can't uproot our family if someone were to see you. The Guys in White have done enough to get the government off your back."
"The building was coming down anyway. I-"
"What?!" her eyes widened, "You knocked down a building?!"
He winced, "It was on fire, structurally unsound. It was coming down. I performed a public service and you're acting like that's a bad thing."
"It is a bad thing, Danny!" she shook her head, "There are people who take care of this sort of thing, whose job it is to do it. You're putting yourself in danger just to relive your superhero days."
"Reliving them is better than pretending they never happened!"
"Of course they happened!" Elsa sighed, "Danny Phantom is a part of who you are, I know that. But our family is what's happening now. Sebastian started babbling today and started to say 'daddy.' And where were you? You're missing it! I don't want you to miss it."
Danny shook his head, "I'm not trying to miss it. I didn't even think I'd downgrade to suburban life straight outta college like some baby boomer!"
Elsa visibly softened and his words hung in the air for a moment. It took him a second to realize he had just used the word downgrade to describe his life with Elsa. He met her eyes and found them slightly watery but he could see she was holding back her emotions as much as she could as she squared her shoulders and lifted her chin. In an instant he knew his words had cut deep and he instantly regretted them. "Elsa," he said in a gentler voice, "I didn't mean it like that. I'm so-"
The baby then began to cry from down the hall and Elsa's shoulders sagged in defeat. It was then that Danny noticed how beaten down she looked. She was tired and had bags under her eyes and her cheeks had lost that healthy rosy glow. Being a mother was no easy job and Danny wasn't the only one who'd given up things for the life they had now. She was just better at adjusting than him.
He reached out and stopped her as she moved to walk past him. "Go get some sleep," he said, giving her hand a squeeze, "I'll take this one." He moved down the hall to the baby's room but stopped in the doorway to find her wiping her eyes, either from being upset or being tired or both. "And I'm sorry," he called, hoping that his peace offering would lift her spirits a little before turning and heading into the nursery.
What was even worse was the next morning, Danny was called to the team manager's office. Danny was beyond annoyed and this was not the day to get him angry but he held back his temper and sat down in front of Mr. Weselton.
"I'm not happy Danny," the older short man said before standing from his desk with a frown, "Not happy. Ask me why."
Danny let out a huff under his breath, "Why are you unhappy?"
"Your customers make me unhappy."
"What? You've gotten complaints."
Mr. Weselton let out a low chuckle, "Complaints I can handle," the man paused then began to pace in front of Danny, "What I can't handle is your customers having inexplicable knowledge of Insuracare's inner workings! They're experts! Exploiting every loophole, dodging every obstacle! They're penetrating the bureaucracy!"
"Did I do something illegal?" Danny asked with a raised brow.
The older man grit his teeth, "No."
"Are you saying we shouldn't help our customers?" Danny pressed.
"The law requires me to say no."
Danny's eyes narrowed, "We're supposed to help people."
"We're supposed to help our people! Starting with our stockholders. Who's helping them out?" Danny just rolled his eyes as Weselton took a breath. "You know Danny," he drew in a deep breath, "A company-"
"Is like an enormous clock," Danny finished tiredly.
"Is like an enormous cl-Yes!" Weselton nodded, "Precisely. It only works if all the little cogs mesh together. Now, a clock needs to be cleaned, well oiled, and wound tight. The best clocks have dual movements, cogs that fit, that cooperate by design…" Weselton continued on with the metaphor but movement outside his office window in the alleyway below them caught Danny's eye. "Look at me when I'm talking to you Fenton!"
Danny snapped back to his boss, "That man out there, he needs help-"
"Do not change the subject! We're discussing your attitude."
"He is getting mugged," Danny pointed out the window.
Weselton only glanced out for a second, "Well, let's hope we don't cover them."
"I'll be right back," Danny said as he stood and moved towards the door, his hand already on the handle.
"Stop right now or you're fired!"
Danny froze and stopped where he was. He could almost see Weselton's self satisfied smirk. "Close the door," the boss commanded, "And get over here right now." Danny grit his teeth as he straightened up and let go of the doorknob, now bent under the force of his anger. He turned and moved back towards his boss. "I'm not happy Danny. Not happy."
But Danny was no just looked out the window as he grit his teeth, "He got away."
"Good thing too," Weselton huffed, "You we're this close to losing your jo-"
The man's sentence was cut off as Danny snapped like a twig and grabbed Weselton's collar, his eyes flashing green as he sent him through the cheaply made building's walls. People gasped as they watched the boss land in a crumpled heap on the floor and looked through the hole in the wall to see what happened.
"Uh oh."
"How is he?" Danny asked as the Guys in White came out of Weselton's hospital room.
"He'll live," one answered.
Danny sighed as he followed them, "I'm fired, aren't I?"
"Oh, you think?"
Danny let out a breath and shook his head, "Someone was in trouble and he was blatantly ignoring it."
"Someone is always in trouble," the other one said, "We gotta pay to keep the company quiet, we gotta pay damages, erase minds and it's all taking up money," they both stepped into the elevator, "We appreciate your services but this is a one time thing."
Danny nodded in understanding as the elevator doors began to close before a hand stopped it. "Listen kid, why don't we relocate your family for you?" one asked, looking to the other for confirmation and receiving a nod, "For old time's sake."
He smiled back at them, "I really appreciate that guys, thank you, but Elsa and the baby finally got settled in. I couldn't do that to them."
They both nodded at him, "Take care of yourself." With that, the elevator doors closed.
Danny flicked on the light to his small office. He set his briefcase down and slumped into his chair, trying to figure out what the hell he was gonna do now.
He glanced over at his Phantom suit, now hanging on display instead of on his ghost form. His eyes traced up to the picture frames on the walls. Newspaper clippings of his early and late hero work that Jazz had saved, his diploma, pictures of his family, his friends, both in their ghost hunting gear and just as teenagers. His eyes finally landed on the few pictures on his desk. One was of himself, Sam and Tucker, all just goofing around and having fun. The second was a picture that Tucker had gotten from his wedding: Danny Phantom kissing Elsa on the cheek with her laughing and smiling and pushing him away. He could remember her telling him to just smile a get a picture before people noticed they were gone and found Elsa kissing Amity Park's superhero.
But the last one, the last one was his favorite. It was when they first brought Sebastian home. Elsa had him in her arms and was babbling to him, her nose touching his. Danny had managed to take a picture just at the right moment.
Danny sighed in defeat and opened his briefcase and dumped it all into the trash bin, knowing there was nothing of importance in there. But he paused when he heard a metal clunk and looked down to see a big envelope. He reached down and picked it up, opening it to reveal a tablet of sorts. A small message that read 'Hold still' appeared on the screen before a light flashed in Danny's eye. "Match: Danny Phantom," it spoke.
He just dropped it on the office in surprise and watched as it scanned the room. "Room is secure. Commence message."
A woman suddenly appeared on the screen, teal eyes and dark hair, and she smiled at the camera, "Hello Danny Phantom. Yes, we know who you are and don't worry your secret is safe with us. My name is Valerie. We have something in common. According to the government, neither of us exist. Please pay attention as this message is classified and will not be repeated. I work for a tech…"
It took Danny a second to react before he grabbed a pencil and pad of paper and began copying down what the woman was saying, making plans to research everything later. She talked about technology and his ability to work with it, not to mention the significant pay raise.
"Ghosts aren't gone Danny," she ended, "You're still here. You can still do great things or… you can spy on police. You're choice. You have 24 hours to respond. Think about it."
The message shut off and the tablet produced a small card. Danny took it and examined but was snapped out of his thoughts when the tablet said, "This message will self destruct."
"Oh crud."
Danny quickly created an ecto shield and blocked the blast but watched as smoked reached the smoke detector, making it beep rapidly and turning the house sprinklers on.
After the whole smoke fiasco, he kept mulling over the alleged job offer in his mind, all the while turning things intangible over the sink to get them dry.
"You are one distracted guy," Elsa teased as she got the kitchen back in order, having finally gotten Sebastian to go back to bed after feeding him.
He looked up at her over the countertop, "Am I? Sorry."
She stared at him for a moment, watching as he resumed his task and noticing the crease form between his eyebrows. She made her way over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist in a hug. "I know you miss being a hero and I know you're job is frustrating but," she looked up at him with a soft smile, "It means the world to me that you're staying at it. I want you to know that." Her smile widened and she leaned up to kiss him on the cheek before letting go of him and returning to what she was doing.
Danny watched her go and took a deep breath to prepare for giving her the news. "Princess?"
"Hm?" she absentmindedly hummed.
"There's something I have to tell you… about the job."
Her head turned back to him expectantly, "What?"
"The company…" suddenly, an idea popped into his head, "Is sending me on a conference. Out of town so I'll be gone for a few days."
Elsa furrowed her brow, "A conference? They've never sent you on a conference before. Is this good?"
Danny set down the book in his hand and shrugged, "I think so."
Her face lit up immediately and she moved back over to him and took his hands in her own, "Danny that's wonderful! See? They're finally seeing how talented you are! You're moving up," she pulled him into a big hug, snuggling close to him, "Oh, Danny I'm so proud of you."
He couldn't help the smile that came to his face and he hugged her back before he pulled away. "That reminds me. I have to call and organize details with the company."
Within the next day, Danny was in ghost form on his way to the designated island. He sat across from Valerie with a holographic screen between them that displayed details of the mission.
"The Ghomitroid is a top secret high tech battle robot capable of targeting humans and ghost," Valerie began, "It's artificial intelligence allows it to solve any problem it's confronted with and unfortunately-"
"It learned it didn't like taking orders?" Danny guessed.
Valerie sighed and nodded, "We lost control. And now it's loose in the jungle threatening our facility. We had to evacuate all personnel."
Danny nodded, "So, how do I find it?"
"The Ghomitroid's cloaking devices make it difficult to track. But we're pretty sure it's on the Southern half of the island," she paused, "Oh, one more thing, this project represents a significant investment."
Danny smirked, "You want me to shut it down without completely destroying it."
She shrugged with a smiled, "You are Danny Phantom." He stood to turn intangible and phase through the plane but she stopped him. "I've got to warn you, it's a learning robot. Every moment fighting it only increases its knowledge in beating you."
"Shut it down, do it quickly, don't destroy it," he relayed to her.
She stood and placed her hand on her hips, "And don't die."
He shrugged, "I'm already halfway there." He gave her a small wave and phased through the plane, flying down to the southern part of the island.
Now surrounded by jungle, Danny floated through the dense foliage, his eyes searching for clues or some trace of this giant robot. After a long search, he had to touch his feet on the ground and rest for a moment. Had he lost some of his stamina? He used to be able to fly for a few hours at least. He rolled his eyes at himself as he leaned against a tree. Of course he had, it's not like he's fighting ghosts left and right like he used to.
But Danny stopped when he felt something in the bark of the tree. Turning around, he saw huge slash marks in the wood. He took a second to examine them but found no need when the giant robot appeared behind him. The robot was a sphere with six legs and an "eye" on top. Danny barely had any time to react before the robot flug one of its legs at him. He dodged but was slashed in the arm. "Oh right," Danny groaned as he clutched his shoulder for a moment, "It can hurt humans and ghosts."
He got up and floated around it before charging up an ecto blast and firing it at the robot. It flew back into a tree and lay still for a mere moment before getting back up. The blasts seemed to not affect the robot at all and ice did nothing to hinder its movements.
At one point they came to a cliff and Danny was able to knock the robot down onto a rock ledge. The robot only responded by throwing rocks back at him which he swiftly dodged. Knocking the robot down to the next ledge, Danny found himself in an active volcano, which he thought was strange but he didn't think much of it as the robot slammed him into the rock wall.
He gave the robot one last good blast and pushed it back into the lava. Danny watched as it sunk, relieved until he realized something. "So much for protecting the investment," he shrugged but stopped when he felt the earth shake underneath him.
Moving quickly, he jumped up into the air as the robot burst through the rock layer, the metal radiating heat and danger as it climbed onto the rocks. Danny was now realizing that there was no possible way for him to just blast this thing to pieces. In fact, nothing seemed to be affecting it.
A light bulb went off in Danny's head and he was slowly running out of options so it was his best bet. Turning intangible, Danny flew right into robot, making sure it saw him. Sure enough, once he was in, the legs and claws of the robot stabbed at its own body, trying to reach the ghost boy who only watched in satisfaction as a certain claw hand grabbed the power source of the robot and ripped it out, rendering it powerless.
Danny, still in Phantom form, was dressed in a suit as he walked to the place Valerie told him dinner would be. Normally, he would try to get home as quick as he could but he was curious to know who his employer was. But he was surprised when he was walking into the room and found a wall made entirely out of lava.
He stared at it for a moment before it suddenly opened and revealed Valerie talking to a man, who was only visible by his shadow. Danny turned invisible and tried to see what was happening but he couldn't make much of it. As the wall closed and Valerie came into the room, Danny phased back out through the door and came into the room again.
"Am I overdressed?" he asked as he closed the door behind him.
Valerie smirked at him, "Actually you look rather dashing."
As they sat down at the big modern table filled with food, Danny raised a brow, "I take it our host-"
"He won't be dining with us tonight," Valerie finished as she sat at the head of the table with Danny at the opposite head, "He hopes you'll understand."
He nodded, "Of course. I usually make it a point to know who I'm working for."
Valerie picked up her wine glass, "He makes a point of having a certain level of privacy. Surely you of all people can understand that."
Danny couldn't help but smile and nod in agreement, "I was just wondering… of all the places to settle down, why-"
"A volcano? He's attracted to power," Valerie leered over the table at him, "We both are. It's a weakness we share."
"That's a bit unstable."
"I prefer to think of it as… misunderstood."
Danny laughed, "Aren't we all?"
"Volcanic soil is among the most fertile on earth. Everything at the table was grown right here," she raised a brow and lifted her glass, "How does it compare?"
He studied her for a brief moment before lifting his glass as well, "Everything's delicious."
Elsa had been washing that night's dishes when Danny snuck up behind her and turned her around, giving her a big kiss. She was surprised, obviously, but wrapped her arms around his shoulders, making sure the soapy dish gloves were far away from him. He pulled away with a big smile. "Well, hello to you too," Elsa laughed, turning and turning off the faucet and taking off her gloves, "I take it the conference went well?"
"Better than well," he smiled back before his eyes turned mischievous and he smirked at her, leaning over so he had her pinned against the counter, "But is that really what you wanna talk about right now?"
"No," she shook her head before maneuvering out of his little trap, "Because I have to finish cleaning the living room."
Danny huffed and shook his head at her but couldn't help but admire her as she continued to clean. Dressed in leggings, an old shirt with messy hair and no makeup, Danny couldn't believe how beautiful she was. Thankfully, with the new job he had taken on, he was now able to spend more time with her and his kid.
He made a point of spending more time with Sebastian. That little boy was so happy most of the time and very playful. Elsa got out of bed that morning to find Danny Phantom flying him around the living room. "Danny!" her eyes widened, "What are you doing?!"
"Showing Sebastian what it's like to fly," Danny answered with the baby in his arms, "Princess, stop making that face. You know I'm better at flying than I am walking."
"That doesn't erase my need to see our baby on the ground this very instant," Elsa gave him a look and Danny laughed as he began to comply but Sebastian turned around in his father's arms and saw the blonde.
"Mommu."
Both of them froze and watched as Sebastian gave a toothless grin and reached out for Elsa. "Mommu." Danny flew him back down to the ground and Elsa took him in her arms.
She nodded and smiled at the baby, "Yes, yes that's right baby."
Sebastian clapped happily and turned to Danny. He pointed at him, "Mommu."
Danny just laughed and pressed a kiss to the side of his head, immensely grateful he didn't miss his son's first word.
One day, Elsa came up to Danny with Sebastian in her arms. "Danny, you wanna see something funny?" she asked with a smile. When Danny nodded, she took Sebastian over to the couch and sat him down, propping him up on a few pillows to keep him upright. She then stepped back and held up a finger, signifying that he should wait a second.
Sebastian looked around for a bit before taking notice of the lamp right next to him on the end table. Filled with some sort of baby energy, he started babbling like no one had ever scene, as if he was having a conversation with the lamp, not even noticing his parents laughing at him.
But it wasn't all family time. The pay was triple was he had been making but Danny still had to do the typical 9 to 5 and needed a way to fill that space. Improving his powers and pushing himself became his priority again. Finding a large abandoned lot outside of town, Danny worked on his speed, accuracy and aim, and his strength.
Elsa even noticed. "You've bulked up a little bit Mr. Fenton," she said to him as she passed him standing at the kitchen counter in his suit ready for work that day. "Not that I mind in the slightest but, any particular reason?" Elsa asked as she reached up and fiddled with his tie.
"I guess I just wanted to do it for myself," Danny shrugged.
She hummed as her hands landed on his chest, "Well, I very much approve," she smiled and took hold of his collar, "Come here you."
That day, he was an hour late to "work."
As Danny was going to put his suit back oe display in his office, he found a hole from his battle with the Ghomitroid. "Oh crud," he huffed before packing it in his briefcase.
"Hurry Danny!" he heard Elsa call, "Or you'll be late for work!"
He walked out of his office to the door and Elsa met him there. "Have a great day," she said quickly before giving him a kiss and returning to what she was doing.
"I'll see you later princess," he smiled before leaving and closing the door behind him.
Danny drove over to Paulina's house and, after some annoying trouble with security guards, he was led to the front door. As soon as it opened, he was greeted by his post-high school friend. "Danny!" she yelled as she pulled him into a big hug before releasing him, "Come in, come in, come in. How's Elsa and the family?"
"They're doing great actually. Settling in just fine. What about you and your new fashion design gig?"
Paulina shrugged as they walked further into the house, "Things are going well. No complaints. But it's not the same by any stretch of the imagination."
Danny raised a brow, "Weren't you just in the news for some show?"
"Milan, Danny, Milan," Paulina corrected before scoffing, "Supermodels, ha! There's nothing super about them. Nothing but stupid little stick figures who think only about themselves. I use to design suits that made people super," she turned back to Danny as they reached her living room and began to smirk, "But maybe you're here to give me a challenge."
"Li, I just need a patch job," he said, pulling his ripped suit out of his bag.
She took it and examined it, "This is mega mesh. Outdated but sturdy and you've torn right through it!" she looked at him with a knowing smirk, "What have you been doing Danny?"
"Must've happened a long time ago," he shrugged.
"I see," she hummed before going over and throwing the suit in the trashcan, "This is a hobo suit, Danny. You can't be seen in this. I won't allow it."
Danny reached in a picked it up, "Well, I didn't really have a choice in a suit now did I?"
"No," she shrugged as she sat down and picked up a pencil and paper before smiling, "But now you do." She scribbled some things down as she thought out loud, "It will be bold, heroic, but classic. And no capes."
He raised a brow, "Not that I'm particularly for capes but isn't that my decision?"
She looked up at him with a bored expression, "How many times have you used someone else's cape against them Danny?"
"Fair point."
She stood up and brushed herself off, "Now go on home, your new suit will be done by your next assignment."
"You know I'm retired," he said as he stood and she made her way to the stairs.
"As am I Danny," she turned back to him with a smirk, "Yet here we are."
He walked over to her, "Li, I really need a patch job. For… sentimental reasons."
"Fine," she huffed as she took the suit from him, "I will also fix the hobo suit."
He smiled as he turned to leave, "You're the best Paulina!"
"I know, Danny, I know."
Elsa was hanging up freshly cleaned clothes in their bedroom closet when she first noticed something weird. A long curled black hair was caught on Danny's suit jacket. She looked at it confused for a moment before she heard the phone ring.
She went to answer it but heard a hurried, "I got it Elsa! Don't answer!" from Danny stopped her. She paused for a moment before her suspicions and curiosity got the best of her. She held down the receiver as she picked up the phone and held it to her ear.
"How soon can you get here?" asked a woman's voice
"I'll leave tomorrow morning."
"See you there."
They the phone was hung up. Elsa put down the phone and a few seconds later Danny came into their room. "Who was that?" Elsa asked innocently as he froze when he saw her.
"The… office," he said as he straightened up and went to start packing, "Another conference. I know it's short notice but, you know, duty calls."
After packing Danny got into the car and placed his bags in the passenger seat. "Danny?" he heard his wife call.
"What's up princess?" he asked as he adjusted his mirrors.
Elsa took a deep breath as she stood by the driver door to try and calm her racing thoughts. He would never cheat on her. Would he? No. It's just a silly conclusion that she's jumping too. She forced a smile and leaned down to look in the window, "Ha-Have a great trip."
He turned the car on, "Thanks, I'll be sure to call you when I get there."
"I love you," she offered before softly adding, "So much."
Danny stopped for a second at her tone and looked over at her big hopeful eyes. He reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her close for a quick kiss. "I love you too, princess," he smiled at her.
Hours later, Danny sat on a plane, alone this time, heading towards the island where his first assignment was. He was now in his new suit, his collar was stripped and white was added to his chest and green accents were added to his belt, gloves and boots with his emblem now being green. "Paulina has really outdone herself," Danny commented as the plane dipped to begin its descent. The plane dove underwater and flew into a cavern that soon closed and drained of all water.
A hatch next to him opened, revealing Valerie in some sort of traveling pod. "Nice suit," she said as he sat across from her.
"Nice plane," he countered as the doors close and pod began to move.
It traveled all along the island, through jungles, over rivers, and through waterfalls. After making their way to into the main building and up to Danny's room Valerie said, "You will be briefed on the next assignment in the conference room at two. D wing, room A13."
"Two o'clock, got it," he said as he stepped into his room.
"See you then." With that, the elevator doors closed and Danny was left alone. He plopped his suitcase on his bed and went out to the balcony with a gorgeous view of the ocean. He sighed as he leaned against the railing. He half wished Elsa knew about what he was doing right now. They had made such a great team back when they were fighting ghosts, always having each other's backs. But he wished Elsa was there with him, he knew she loved to stare at the ocean and just relax. It had been a long time since they'd spent some good, quality time together. Maybe with all the money he's been making lately he could take her on a weekend trip somewhere nice, somewhere they could just relax with each other.
Back at home, Elsa was vacuuming the house and had found herself cleaning Danny's office. She smiled at all the pictures that lined his office and looked over at his suit hanging on display. Memories flooded her mind of when they were younger and things were easier and simpler. But she paused when she noticed a stitch in the suit, on the arm to be exact, that wasn't there before. "Paulina," Elsa said to herself before rushing to her phone.
"I'd like to speak to Paulina please," Elsa said into the phone.
"This is she."
"Paulina, it's me. Elsa?"
"Elsa!" Paulina squealed into the phone making Elsa drop hers in surprise, "It's been too long!"
Elsa put the phone back up to her ear, "Yes, yes, it's been a while. Listen, there's only one person Danny would trust to patch up his suit and that's you Li."
"Yes, I know. Marvelous, isn't it? Much better than those pajamas he used to wear."
"Huh?" Elsa quirked a brow.
"They're all finished. When are you coming to see them. Don't make me beg, Elsa, I won't do it."
"Beg?!" Elsa asked confusedly, "No, I'm calling a beg-about-about Danny's suit. I'm calling about Danny's suit!"
"You come in one hour, okay? I insist. We'll do lunch and everything. Goodbye."
The line went dead and it took Elsa a moment to realize she had been hung up on. She huffed and threw her phone back down on the bed.
Danny made his way to the conference room and made it there exactly at two o'clock but he found the room to be completely empty. He checked the clock and the room number before taking a seat at the long wooden table.
Suddenly, the back wall of the room opened, revealing the Ghomitroid robot. Danny jumped out of his seat and quickly turned intangible as the robot reached for him but it somehow managed to grab him and throw him out into the jungle.
He landed hard against a rock and Danny didn't have time to dodge the robot picking him up again and throwing him in the opposite direction. It then picked him up and used two other claws to create blade-like propellers and bring them close to Danny. He stretched to avoid them but they stopped when he heard a familiar voice call out.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it's too much for the famed Danny Phantom!" Vlad Plasmius said as he landed on top of the Ghomitroid and pressed a button on his wrist, making the blades stop and the arm that held Danny come closer. "You know, I went through a good number of ghosts and ghost hunters to get it strong enough to fight you but it still wasn't enough. After you destroyed the last one I had to make some modifications."
Danny's eyes scanned over his enemy, "Vlad? You… You've been gone for years."
The ghost boy was suddenly thrown to the ground and Vlad flew down next to him. "And here I am, back after years," he smirked as Danny stood up and watched Vlad carefully, "You've grown, little badger. What small life have you made for yourself?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Danny responded, falling back into his old banter.
Vlad raised a brow, "I could've given you so much more you know. But after that summer, I was so weak I could barely get out of Amity Park on my own. Fortunately, I was still able to invent and you'd be surprised at what you can do with years of time. You'll also be surprised to know what countries are willing to pay for weapons. Of course I keep the best for myself-" Vlad was cut off as he dodged a fallen tree that was thrown at him.
He pointed a finger and a tractor beam shot out and stopped Danny's movement, "You sly dog, you got me monologuing." He used the beam to throw Danny around and blast him with his own ecto beams before he accidentally overshot a throw and Danny was flying through the air a mile away.
Vlad just sighed to himself, "Brilliant."
Danny landed in a river and after a moment of recovery, he followed it to get away from Vlad so he could have a second to think. Seeing a waterfall up ahead, he swam towards it and flew down into the water below.
Vlad flew to the top of the waterfall just as Danny landed in the water. "Alright, try this on for size little badger," Vlad taunted as he plucked a bomb from his wrist and dropped it into the water.
Danny swam back as the blinking red light dropped in front of him and swam for a cavern, just narrowly avoiding the blast of the bomb. He a coughed a little as he landed in the air filled cavern. He let himself breathe for a second before he looked up and spotted a skeleton and, being a kid growing up with ghosts, he was only mildly freaked out.
He made his way over and noticed the familiar logo on the corpse's clothing. "Ecto-Beam?" Danny muttered to himself before noticing the ghost hunter's ecto weapon was pointed in a certain direction. He followed the aim of the gun to find the word, "Kronos," engraved into the stone of a wall. Before Danny could figure out what that meant, a splash of water caught his attention.
A scanner had emerged from the water. Thinking fast, Danny turned intangible and invisible and hid behind Ecto-Beam's corpse in hopes it would disguise him. Soon, the scanner left and returned to Vlad, reporting Danny to be dead.
Paulina led Elsa down a set of stairs in her house, "Oh, I've missed the hero work. But this is my best work yet, I must say. Simple, elegant, but bold. You're going to love it. I did Danny's suit and it was just so… amazing I had to keep going."
"Paulina," Elsa cut in as they walked down a long hall, "It's really great to see you but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I only-"
Paulina turned and nodded, "You're right. We can talk later. I'll will show you my work!" She turned and punched a few numbers into a keypad, did a hand and retina scan, and used a voice identifier to open the door to her secret workshop. There her works, tools, and fabrics hung on display. Paulina led Elsa to a seat in front of a giant display window. "I started with the baby," she said.
"Started?" Elsa asked.
"Sh, I cut it a little roomy for moment and growth, the fabric is comfortable for sensitive skin," she said as a small baby mannequin in a green black and blue jumper waddled out into the display area, "And it can withstand temperatures of over one thousand degrees. Completely bulletproof and machine washable."
Elsa stared at the mannequin as guns shot at it to prove its capabilities, "What do you think the baby will be doing?!"
"Well, I don't know Elsa. Luck favors the prepared. I didn't know the boy's powers so I covered the basics."
Elsa shook her head, "Sebastian doesn't have any powers."
Paulina looked up from her tea, "No?" she shrugged and set it down, "Well, he'll look fabulous anyway," a new suit entered the display. This time on a man's mannequin decorated in black and red, "Tucker's suit is now fully frictionless and will not heat up or wear out."
The next mannequin was a woman's mannequin and had a purple and black jumpsuit, "Sam's suit now allows her to disappear completely, like a ghost if you will, and her force field capabilities have been enhanced."
The last mannequin came out dressed in a blue and black, "Your suit allows you your manipulation and creation of ice and snow and is now virtually indestructible. There's also little DP symbols on each suit each complete with a tracking device. That's a personal touch. So," Paulina turned to Elsa with a smile, "What do you think?"
"What do I think?" Elsa repeated as she stared at the now empty glass case, "Danny is retired. We're all retired," she stood up, suddenly realizing what was going on, "You let my husband go back to hero work behind my back?!"
Paulina shrugged with a wide eyed look, "I assumed you knew Elsa. Why would he keep secrets from you?"
"He wouldn't," Elsa said before becoming unsure of herself, "Didn't-uh, doesn't"
Paulina stood and faced her friend, "Elsa, honey, do you know where Danny is?"
"Of course I-"
"Do you know where he is?" Paulina repeated, earning an uneasy look from Elsa.
Meanwhile, Danny was sneaking around a guard invested island, trying to get back into the main building and figure out what the hell Vlad was planning. He easily flew through all the walls. He mentally berated Vlad for not making this facility ghost proof. He found the room with the wall of lava and remained invisible as Valerie walked out of the small path that was created so she could walk out.
As soon as she was gone, Danny flew through the wall and found a long catwalk that led to a desk. He flew over to it and examined it. Making sure there were no traps, he pressed a button on the giant keyboard in front of him, making the wall in front of him light up and act as a computer screen, asking for a password.
Danny thought for a moment, wracking his brain for what Vlad's password could possibly be. His eyes then lit up and he typed in the word, "Kronos." It worked and logged him in.
Elsa was using Paulina's phone to call Danny's work. When the company picked up, "Hi, yes, this is Elsa Fenton, Daniel Fenton's my husband. I was wondering if you could give me the number of the hotel that he's staying at. The number I have is no good."
"Mr. Fenton no longer works at Insuracare," the woman stated.
Elsa's brow furrowed, "What do you mean? He's on a business trip."
"My records say his employment was terminated almost two months ago."
Danny navigated to the Ghosts and Ghost Hunters tab on the desktop. Once he opened it, the computer showed a list of ghosts and hunters that have been 'terminated' and whether or not they beat certain robotic models. Danny's nose scrunched up in disgust when he realized Vlad was using ghosts and people like lab rats and testing his machines on them. He leaned forward as he looked as the number of people who have been lost to this project.
"So," Paulina said to Elsa, "You don't know where he is?" she glanced at the homing device in her hand before holding it out to her friend, "Would you like to find out?"
Unable to hold in his curiosity, Danny searched Elsa's name. She came up in a list of people from Amity Park. Her location was logged as unknown and Danny sat back in the chair with a sigh of relief. He then looked up Sam and Tucker to find that their locations were known but no other actions were logged.
He searched himself to find he was classified as 'terminated.' Danny paused as he realized he could use this. Vlad didn't know he survived, the element of surprise would weigh in his favor.
The hero finally searched the Ghomitroid and found a whole plan surrounding it called the Kronos Project. A rocket would launch the robot into the city undetected and it would simply start destroying things. He found the timer on the side to say only nine hours until the launch. He got out of the seat and turned to fly out of the room, needing a safe place to think and figure out a plan.
At the same exact time Elsa used the homing device.
Danny looked down as the DP on his chest faintly blinking green and suddenly the lights in the room came on and an ecto ray was shot at Danny. It was incredibly powerful and knocked him to the ground, forcing him back into his Fenton form as he tried to blink away unconsciousness. He only saw the bottom of Vlad's familiar cape before passing out completely.
"I am such an idiot," Elsa said as she slumped in a chair at Paulina's kitchen table, "The getting in shape and new car. Ugh. What if…" Elsa's eyes widened, "What if I'm losing him?"
"Enough mopping," Paulina huffed as she pulled Elsa up, "You are Elsa Fenton, badass super mom and wife, as everyone knows. You know Fenton is lucky to have you. And we both know he's oblivious and stupid."
Elsa shrugged before nodding in agreement. Paulina smiled, "I say, you go out and save his sorry ass and remind him who's really in charge."
"You're making it sound easy," Elsa huffed.
"And call me when you get back, darling. I love our visits."
An hour later she was at home with her bag packed. She had called in a favor from her friend Kristoff from Norway who was a pilot. She spent a summer learning how to fly with him and now she was thanking the convenience of it all. She had the suits laid out, as Paulina had insisted on giving them to her, but she just hadn't told Sam or Tucker, who were currently over, having promised to watch Sebastian.
"There's plenty of food in the fridge, leftovers and such. I left a list of the things Sebastian needs, like mealtime and bedtime. You guys can handle this right?" Elsa turned to Sam as she set her almost packed bag on the bed.
Sam nodded, "Yes, Elsa we can. Er, you know I can."
"Hey!" came Tucker's protest as he appeared in the doorway, "What's going on again?"
"Nothing," Elsa hummed before she growled under her breath, "Just a little trouble with Danny."
"Trouble with Danny or Danny is the trouble?" Sam asked with a knowing smirk.
Elsa turned to her with a dangerous look, "Either he's in trouble, or he's going to be."
"Well, what are these?" Tucker asked as he went over to the bed and picked up the suits.
Elsa shrugged them off, "Something Paulina threw together." She zipped up her bag and put it over her shoulder, "I should be back tonight. Late, but back."
"No answer," Elsa hummed to herself as she turned on the radio communicator. Currently sitting in a jet, she was trying to request landing permission but was received no answer at all. She glanced at her bag that sat in the passenger seat before shaking her head at herself. But she paused again before turning on the autopilot, grabbing her bag, and going into the bathroom to change.
Danny however, was trapped with his hands bound spread above his head and his feet below him. He was suspended in some sort of machine that used energy to hold him up. He changed into Phantom before trying to break free.
"I must say, you've certainly gotten better at this," Vlad commented as he entered the dark room and walked up to Danny. It was then that he noticed his surroundings. Valerie sat at a panel on the right side of the aisle and another desk was to the left. "I was right to want to recruit you as my own pupil," Vlad droned before narrowing his eyes at Danny, "But Danny Phantom calling for help? I can't believe it. So, who did you contact?"
Danny furrowed a brow, "Contact? What are you going on about Vlad?"
Vlad just snapped his fingers and the guard at the left desk pressed a button. Suddenly, electricity coursed through Danny's body and he cried out in pain. "I'm referring to last night while you were in my office. You sent out a homing signal."
He shook his head, "I didn't know about the homing device."
Another, more powerful, shock followed by a louder yell. "And now, a government plane is requesting permission to land here. Who did you contact?!"
"I-I didn't send for a plane," Danny bit out.
Vlad turned towards Valerie, "Play the transmission!"
Elsa's voice then filled the room as she requested permission to land. Danny's eyes widened, "Oh, no."
"Is that Elsa Arendal I hear?" Vlad teased as he walked over to the desk and pressed a red button, "Let's send her a little greeting, shall we?"
Elsa came out of the bathroom with her suit on and tossed her bag onto a cabin seat, resulting in a small, "Ow." Elsa turned in surprise to find the outline person who was invisible. "Sam!" she yelled as she placed her hands on her hips.
Sam became visible, in her new suit as well, and set the bag aside, "Hey listen, Tucker stowed away and I had to follow to make sure he didn't get into any trouble."
"Way to throw me under the bus!" Tucker yelled as he came out from the back of the plane, also wearing his suit.
Elsa turned to Tucker and looked between them, "Wait, so you two left Sebastian alone?!"
Sam rolled her eyes, "Of course not. We're not totally irresponsible."
"Okay so, who'd you get?"
Sam and Tucker shared a look before glancing at Elsa. "Oh, you didn't," Elsa's eyes widened before she turned and rushed to the jet's phone and calling her home. Sure enough, she picked up.
"Elsa! I knew you'd call. Listen I'm just going over the eating and sleeping schedule and adding some Mozart and education background television while he plays because, you know, I read this article in graduate school that said that those subtle things help make the baby smarter. I've-"
"Jazz!" Elsa cut her off before sighing at her sister-in-law, "Look thank you for taking care of Sebastian but I just need to know if he's doing okay."
"He's great, Elsa. No need to worry."
Elsa sighed in relief before her eyes caught sight of two moving objects coming at the plane. "Gotta go Jazz," she hung up before getting back to the pilot's seat and turning on the seatbelt sign for Sam and Tucker.
She put on the headset and maneuvered the plane as she saw the objects were in fact missiles. "Indian Gulf niner niner, disengage, I repeat, disengage!" She continued to avoid the weapons that were gaining on the jet, but poor Sam and Tucker were tumbling around in the cabin as she dove and pulled up in time to just skim the water's surface.
"Call off the missiles!" Danny yelled at Vlad as Elsa's panicked and urgent commands came through the speaker into the room, "I'll do anything you want!"
Vlad shook his head, "You're eight years too late, little badger."
"Sam!" Elsa called back, "You have to put a forcefield around the plane!"
"But this suit is brand new for me. I don't have full control!"
"I need you to try!" Elsa tried the radio again, "Disengage, repeat, disengage!"
Danny listened with a horrified expression as he listened to his wife try to contact them. "Mayday mayday, Indian Gulf niner niner is in buddy spot! There are passengers aboard. I repeat there are passengers aboard!"
Valerie's eyes widened as she turned to Vlad to see his reaction but he remained motionless as Danny called to him. "No! Vlad, please!"
"Sam, a field, now!" Elsa shouted as the missiles honed in on their location. Sam sat in the aisle trying her best but she just couldn't get one to be big enough. When the missiles were about to hit the plane, Elsa grabbed a parachute and ran back to Sam and Tucker, creating a ice shield around them just as the plane exploded.
The ice shattered and absorbed the impact, allowing the trio to free fall down towards the water. Elsa, as quickly as she could manage, grabbed her friends and pulled the parachute open. It allowed them enough cushion not to smack against the water. They all landed and ducked underwater as the plane crashed a few feet away from them.
They all resurfaced and began treading water before the two others started shouting angrily at each other. Elsa had to shout over both of them, "Stop blaming each other! Both of you get a grip. I don't care how old you are, stop arguing or so help me I will ground both of you!"
Valerie stood from her desk and walked over to Vlad, who stood in front of Danny. "We have a confirmed hit," she said, her voice slightly shaky as she glanced at Danny's devastated frame, "Target was d-destroyed."
Vlad smirked at the hero before him, "You'll learn to live without them, Daniel."
As Vlad turned to walk away, Danny lifted his head and glared at Vlad, letting his unbridled anger fuel his strength. Pushing against his restraints, he reached out to grab the villian but Valerie pushed Vlad out of the way at the last second and he grabbed her instead. Unable to see past all the red, he growled, "Let. Me. Go."
"Or what, Daniel?" Vlad asked, slightly amused as he regained his composure.
"I'll snapped her in half like a toothpick," he bit out as he his eyes glowed green.
Valerie gasped and looked to Vlad for help but he just raised a brow, "You don't have it in you. Go on, do it. See if I care."
Danny's eyes narrowed before he realized what was happening. He dropped Valerie to the ground and let the machine drag his arms taunt above his head and hold him captive once more, having no motivation to fight. Who would have thought? He got what he had wanted most, his life as a hero back, but it cost him the most precious thing he had. God, he was so stupid. What about little Sebastian? He now had no mother. Terrible thoughts began to fill Danny's mind as Vlad's words began to ring in his ears.
"Even when you have nothing left, you are still weak."
Vlad turned to leave the room and Valerie followed obediently but she paused in the doorway. She looked back at the man who had just lost his whole life. Her heart went out to him as she heard soft sobs begin to fill the room before the door closed in her face.
Tucker adjusted his wet glasses as he studied the sky. "Those were short range missiles, land based," he said as he pointed to the trail of smoke in the sky, "That way's our best bet."
"You wanna go towards the people that tried to kill us?" Sam asked sarcastically.
"If it means land, than yes."
Elsa mustered up the strength to create an ice raft. They all got on and Tucker leaned over the edge. He kicked at the water at high speeds, launching them towards land.
They reached the island by the time the moon was in the sky and took refuge in a cave they found by the shore. They set to work on building a fire and gathering what they could. They all sat silently around the crackling warm fire to dry.
"Guys," Sam said as she glanced at her friends, "I-I'm sorry about the jet. If I had just concentrated a little harder, I could've-"
"It's okay Sam," Elsa cut her off with a comforting smile before placing a hand on her shoulder, "It wasn't fair of me to suddenly put all that pressure on you… The truth is…" she trailed off and took a deep breath before looking at her friends, "I-I'm scared. I'm so so scared. I don't know where my husband is or if he's even still alive."
Tucker scooched over and placed a supportive hand on Elsa's back, "Hey, we all know Danny's been through some tough spots. He can handle it."
"But that's the thing. Why did he return to hero work?" Elsa responded, glancing at the two, "He has a- … I-I just… Did I do something wrong? To drive him away?"
"No," Sam shook her hand and scooted over as well to wrap her arm around her friend, "No, not at all Elsa."
Tucker nodded, "Danny loves you more than anything else."
"No matter what his stupid actions say," Sam rolled her eyes before offering her a smile.
A small one made it onto Elsa's face before she hugged both of her friends and stood. "I'm going to look for him," she stated, "I'll try and use the dark to my advantage. You two stay behind in case we need backup, which we probably will."
Valerie sat at a command station, finishing up the details of the project. "He's not weak you know," she called over to Vlad, who was looking out a panel of glass at his rocket.
"What?" he turned to her.
"Valuing life is not weakness," she defended.
Vlad made his way over to her, "If you're talking about what happened in the containment unit, it was all under control-"
"And disregarding it," she cut him off, "Is not strength."
"I called his bluff," Vlad stated, "I knew he didn't have it in him to actually-"
"Next time you gamble," Valerie stood and cut him off, "Bet your own life." With that she turned and walked out of the command center, needing a moment to get her head on straight.
On her little tour of the facility, Elsa passed the giant chamber where they were holding the rocket. She furrowed a brow at the structure and tried to find any clues to what the rocket was for. Alas, nothing. Elsa managed to sneak past all the guards. She may have caused a few concussions or two but no major damage.
Tucker and Sam sat in the cave, just killing time. Sam was practicing the control of her forcefields. "Welp," Tucker said, turning on a light on his suit and standing, "I'm gonna go take a look around the cave."
"Don't wander too far," Sam absentmindedly commented, "And stay hidden."
Tucker shrugged her off and walked further into the cave. After taking some cool samples and classifying the soil as practically volcanic, he found a place where the rock and soil stopped and metal began. "That's not normal," Tucker murmured to himself. He narrowed his eyes when he saw a light coming towards him. "Oh crap," he said as he turned and ran as fast as he could.
As he came up on Sam, she looked at him with an annoyed expression. "What did you do?!" she asked as she got up and let Tucker drag her out of the cave. The both dodged the fire and smoke that poured out of the mouth of the cave. The two stared confusingly at the fire before they heard noise behind them and turned to see a rocket launching out of the island's volcano.
Elsa had finally snuck into a security room. She listened to the guard's conversation for a little while before peeking at the panel they sat in front of. She looked at all the power levels of each containment unit and saw that one was way above the others. She instantly knew that was Danny and she began to make her way down the hall towards the room.
Sam and Tucker had fallen asleep in the jungle for a few hours and woke up when the sun came up. They made sure to cover their tracks and were about to head back to the cave to see if they could hide there again but Tucker caught sight of a weird looking bird. "Identification, please," it said.
"Uh, Sam," Tucker tapped his friend's shoulder.
The bird tilted its head, "Voice key incorrect."
"Voice key?" Sam asked, "Wait a second."
The bird's mouth opened and the sounds of a blaring alarm echo through the forest. The two of them instantly ran off and tried to get away from that area as fast as possible.
Valerie had managed to sneak away from Vlad's watchful gaze and manage to make it back to the containment unit where Danny was. She went over to the desk and pressed a button, making the electricity shut off and Danny fall to the ground. She walked up to him and knelt down, "There isn't much time-"
His hand reached out and closed around her neck. "No there isn't, in fact there's no time at all," he growled as he stood and lifted her off the ground by her throat. He glared at her with bright green eyes, "Why are you here? How can you possibly bring me lower? What more can you take away from me?!"
"Friends," she gasped, "Su-Survived crash… H-Here… on the island."
The glow of his eyes dimmed. "They're alive?" He dropped her to the floor and she gasped for breath. Danny racked his brain to try and find some reason for her to lie to him. He couldn't think of one. Vlad surely would not want Danny out of containment and there were no guards. So that meant…
A smile spread on his face before he helped Valerie up and hugged her tightly. "Thank you," he said to her.
Valerie paused in surprise before hugging him back. The door opening made them both look up to see Elsa standing in the doorway, a ball of ice in her hand.
They instantly stepped away from each other. Danny stared at her disbelievingly, "Elsa?"
Valerie smiled sheepishly, "Hello, you must be Mrs. Phanto-" But she was cut off when the ball of ice smacked her right in the forehead and exploded into snow that instantly melted on her face, knocking Valerie unconscious.
Danny looked at Elsa in surprise, "She was helping me to escape."
"No," Elsa glared at him, "That's what I was doing."
She turned around to just leave him. He was free and obviously not being held captive, but an ecto lasso around her wrist turned her back around. "Let go of me!" she yelled at him as he pulled her closer to him, "Let go of me you lousy, unfaithful, cree-Mph!"
She was cut off when Danny pulled her against him and kissed her, hard. He pulled away from her and stared lovingly into her eyes, "How could I betray my princess?"
"Oh, are you referring to me now?" she raised a brow, still angry about the whole situation.
"Is that a new suit?" he paused, "Wait, where are Sam and Tucker?"
Valerie sat up from the floor and stood up, "They must've triggered the alert. Security's been sent into the jungle. You'd better get going."
"Oh great, now our friends are in danger," Elsa huffed to herself as she turned to exit the room.
Valerie turned and shot a look at Danny, "She's still mad at you."
"Oh yeah," Danny sighed, "I'm in for a world of trouble." With that, he started after her and grabbed her. He launched them into the air and phased through the building. But upon getting outside, he found that a giant ghost shield blocked him from going at a safe height above the trees in the jungle. "I guess we're walking then," Danny winced as he touched down and the two of them began to run.
"I should've told you I was fired," he yelled to her as they continued to run.
"Oh, you think?!" she called back, "Now, we're running for our lives through this god forsaken jungle."
Danny smiled at her, "I know you're mad at me but I'm just happy you're alive."
They both skidded to a stop when they heard a loud explosion echo through the jungle. Suddenly a giant fast moving force field came hurling towards them, knocking them into a large clearing. The force field was dropped and Sam and Tucker both crashed to the ground beside them. "Sam?" Danny asked as he sat up, "Tucker?"
His friends looked up at him and smiled, "Hi Danny."
"Yeah yeah, blah blah I'm stupid, but you're all alive!" he yelled as he jumped up and pulled everyone into a group hug.
They all smiled at each other and couldn't help but let the moment hang in the air for a second. As they all let go of each other, Tucker was the first to speak up, "So what the heck is happening here, dude?"
"Vlad," Danny bit out shortly, resulting in a commutative hum from his friends. Before he could elaborate, two guards in ships appeared out of nowhere. Danny and Elsa, falling back on their old combat skills, launched into immediate action.
Danny threw Elsa up into an aircraft before turning and easily taking out the other guy with a few ecto-blasts. Elsa knocked the guy unconscious and froze the control board in the ship before hopping out and landing on the ground. Both ships crashed into the trees and Danny and Elsa shared a dreamy look. "I love you," they both said at the same time.
"They still got it," Sam said as she turned towards Tucker.
Suddenly, more guards flooded the clearing, both on foot and in small armed aircrafts. They all made quick eye contact with each other before launching into battle, each one battle guards and working together.
They were all suddenly frozen as Vlad flew into the scene, using his zero-point laser. "Everybody stop!" he called as he landed on the ground, "What have we here?" he asked as he lifted them into the air, "Matching suits?" He stopped and looked over at Elsa, "Oh my, Elsa Arendal? Did you marry, Elsa Arendal?!" he glanced over at Sam and Tucker, "It seems I've hit the jackpot. It's a whole team! Oh, this is just too good."
Vlad made sure to lock them all up in the containment unit, Tucker, Elsa, Danny, and Sam all lined up in the same containment unit Danny was in an hour prior. Vlad was kind enough to leave the news segment about a giant aircraft that crashed in the city on the giant computer monitor. They watched in horror as the Ghomitroid activated and began to attack the town, the military's weapons doing nothing to slow it down.
But Danny's eyes were on his wife. "You won't even look at me," he said softly.
Elsa turned a glared at him. "What? You expect me to just forgive you? After what you did? You lied to me."
"Elsa, I was trying to protect you," he tried.
"Protect me?" she raised a brow before she sighed and shook her head.
Tucker peered behind them at Sam. "Should we…?" he whispered.
She shrugged helplessly, "Just pretend not to listen."
"I'm not mad at you for going back to hero work… anymore," Elsa sighed before looking at him, "I'm mad because you didn't tell me. You just left me in the dark Danny. You didn't trust me to support this decision or even discuss it with me for that matter."
Danny shook his head, "You know that's not true."
"Do I?!" she raised her voice, "I'm not so sure anymore."
They stared at each other for a long moment. "Elsa," he said firmly, "You don't understand, I almost lost you today."
"And I could've lost you!" she yelled right back at him. Her words echoed in the large room. She swallowed thickly before continuing, her voice slightly strained, "You have no idea how scared I was when I called the number you gave me and you didn't pick up."
Danny stared at her for a long moment before taking a deep breath. "I missed being a hero," he admitted during the silence, "I missed helping people. Suburban life was okay but my job made me want to drive off a cliff. I wasn't satisfied and I just wanted to feel like… like I had a purpose again. An adventure or something. When the offer came, it paid three times as much. I thought I was helping and saw no harm and no need to tell you because I stupidly thought you would be close-minded. That's the truth. The full truth. And I'm sorry."
Elsa smiled softly at him, "I love you Danny. From now on, come and talk to me when you suddenly feel the need to go on an adventure. I just can't stand the thought of you getting hurt and me not being able to do a single thing about it," she puffed out a sigh and rolled her eyes, "And you're too cute for me to stay mad forever."
He smiled lovingly at her, "I was such an idiot."
"Yeah, you were," she smiled right back.
"Princess," he said softly, "You are my greatest adventure. And nothing could ever change that."
Elsa couldn't help but beam at Danny before Sam interrupted their moment from her standing position over by the desk. While they were talking, Sam had used a forcefield to block the electricity in order for her to get down from the containment unit.
"Well, now that your marriage is fixed," she smirked at them, "I think we have a city to save." She hit the button on the desk, releasing everyone.
Elsa immediately moved to Danny and grabbed his collar, pulling him down to her for a kiss. After a few moments, she let him go and moved towards the door. "Come on boys, you heard Sam."
After sharing a look with his friends, the four of them all made their way through the facility. Elsa led them to an aircraft hanger that she spotted when she was making her way into the facility. "Where are all the guards?" Tucker asked when they reached the hanger. Suddenly, laughter sounded from inside one of the fake RVs in the hanger.
Elsa smirked, "Hello misplaced aggression."
She moved towards the van as the others ducked behind it. She knocked on the door and smiled when it opened, "Hello boys." She stepped into the van and closed the door behind her.
The other three watched as the RV sounded with grunts and yelps of pain all while shaking slightly. The door burst open and a guy flew out and onto the pavement.
Sam glanced at Danny, "Bet you're glad you apologized."
"There're no jets, only a rocket. And I can't fly a rocket," Elsa huffed as she stepped out of the RV.
Tucker raised a brow, "You don't have to. Use the coordinates from the last launch."
"Vlad's probably changed the password," Danny sighed, "How can we get into the computer without tripping an alarm?"
"Say please."
They all stopped and looked up to find Valerie in the command center with a smile on her face.
Danny, Elsa, and Tucker all sat in an RV that was attached to an aircraft and flying towards the city right now. Danny shared a look with Elsa before opening the window and sticking his head out the window, "How you doing Sam?!"
"Do I have to answer?!" she yelled back, keeping her concentration on the force field she was holding up to keep the RV attached to the jet.
After another few moments, Tucker called up to Danny and Elsa, "Now!" before hitting a button and splitting the jet, making Sam release the forcefield and climb back in through the open window with help from Elsa.
"Brace yourselves!" Danny called back to his friends as Sam joined Tucker at the control panel with surveillance of the city. He slammed his foot on the accelerator and the RV landed harshly on the highway.
Tucker looked at a security camera in the city, "The robot's in the financial district."
Danny furrowed his brow and glanced at Elsa,"Which exit do I take?"
"City Avenue," she answered.
"That'll take me downtown," he argued, getting in the exit lane, "I take 7th right?"
"Don't take 7th!"
He swerved out of the lane when she shouted at him, "Great! We missed it!"
"You asked how to get there and I told you. Exit at City."
"That'll take me downtown!" he repeated.
"Well, it's coming up and you're gonna miss it!"
He just swerved to get in the right lane and exited at City Ave. But people who were fleeing the scene by the robot in their cars made him swerve again, but this time out of control. A car hit them and sent the RV flying and turning over. It miraculously stopped in a parking space.
"Is everyone okay?" Danny asked tiredly once the van settled.
"We're getting you two a GPS for Christmas," Tucker stated as he got up from the floor of the van.
Sam nodded as she straightened up in her seat, "You two fight like an old married couple."
Elsa and Danny shared a look before laughing at each other. The screams of citizens caused them to look out the windshield at the robot as it passed the block in front of them. Danny's eyes became determined, "Stay here and stay hidden. I'm going in."
He stood and exited the RV. "And what? I watch helplessly from the sidelines," Elsa called to him, making him stop and turn back to her, "I don't think so."
Danny stepped back towards her, "I'm asking you to hang back just in case."
"And I'm telling you not a chance," Elsa walked up to him, "You're my husband, I'm with you," she grabbed his hand when he moved to turn away again, "For better or for worse."
Danny took her hand off of his, "I have to do this alone."
"What is this to you?" Elsa asked with a glare, "Are you just trying to be Danny Phantom again? What is it?"
He shook his head. "I'm not strong enough," he told her.
She placed her hand on her hips, "Strong enough? And what this will make you stronger? Like some sort of workout?"
"I can't lose you again!" he grabbed her shoulders and lifted her up slightly. His eyes instantly softened and her feet touched the ground but Danny didn't let go. He hung his head and shook it, "I can't. Not again. I-I'm not st-strong enough."
Elsa's heart melted in her chest when she felt his hands grip her tighter. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him, pressing a comforting kiss to his lips. She pulled away and touched their foreheads, moving a hand to cup his cheek. "If we work together, you won't have to be," she smiled.
"I don't know what'll happen," he offered weakly.
"Hey," she nudged him slightly with a teasing smile, "You're a superhero. What could happen?"
Sam and Tucker lept out of the way as the robot's claw came down on the RV, crushing it and making Danny and Elsa move away from it. It moved to strike again but Sam created a forcefield around her and Tucker. The robot hit it a few times before moving over it and dropping down, breaking the force field and weakening Sam.
The robot moved again to drop on them but Danny flew in a held it up just in time. Tucker moved quickly and scooped up Sam before dashing out from under the robot. "Aw crud," Danny sighed when he saw the robot's claw reach for him. It grabbed him and threw him into a nearby building.
Tucker set Sam down against a wall as she was beginning to wake up. Elsa cooled the temperature of her hand and pressed it to Sam's forehead, "Are you okay Sam?"
She took a few moments to regain consciousness and nodded. They all looked around the corner to see Danny take down the Ghomitroid and when it began to get back up, another ecto blast fired from the sky. "Dani!" he smiled as his cousin waved at him for a brief second before returning to attacking the robot.
"Danny," the others came up to him to try and figure out some sort of plan. He turned his back on the robot to look at them, resulting in the robot knocking Danny to the side. Elsa turned to the robot and created long paths of ice, allowing her to skate quickly around the robot and attack it.
Tucker then spotted something on the ground. He picked it up and examined it. He realized that it was the wrist remote Vlad had used to capture them. What if… He smiled as he looked up at his friends, "Look! It's Vlad's remote!"
The Ghomitroid turned to look at Tucker and spotted the controller. It lost interest in Elsa and Dani and moved towards him. He pressed a button and suddenly an arm fell off. It looked back at him, somehow managing to look angry.
"I think you better run," Sam told him before turning invisible.
Tucker gulped and turned to speed down the street. The robot locked onto him and a gun appeared out its eye and began firing. Tucker ran through the park and over the lake into another part of the city before a fire from the robot's gun blocked his path.
"Elsa!" Danny called up to her as she was trying to distract the robot, "Take out its gun!" The robot turned and fired at him, throwing him back a few feet.
She looked down and gave him a nod before skating along the side of a building. She created a an ice bow with a hefty sized arrow. She lept into the air and launched it at the robot's gun, successfully taking it out.
"Gotcha," Dani flew over and grabbed Tucker to get him out of the fire, flying back over the lake. As they flew, the robot picked up a car and threw it at them. Dani dodged it but lost control of her flight when the car landed in the lake and created a huge wall of water.
Elsa gracefully landed on the ground and turned just in time to create a pile of soft snow for Tucker and Dani to land in.
The remote landed on the ground and Danny ran to retrieve it. The robot then fired it's claw at him. He turned intangible but he still was caught in the claw and was flown back several feet. He landed on the pavement, trapped in the claw with it giving no sign of releasing him anytime soon.
Sam, still invisible, was the one that grabbed the remote, the robot reached for her multiple times and she maneuvered around each arm, making the robot tangle itself and fall to the ground.
She made her way over to Elsa, Tucker, and Dani and handed the remote to Tucker. As the robot began to get up, Tucker pressed a random button. Rockets started on the ends of the robots feet, launching it past the heros and into the building behind them. Tucker pressed another button and behind them, Danny was sent up in the air as the claw released him.
He landed and looked up at the robot. "Oh right, ghost proof." he huffed, annoyed, before trying to think of a way to defeat it, "The only thing that can penetrate it is…" he trailed off and remembered his first fight with the Ghomitroid, "Itself."
Sam tried pressing a button but it didn't affect the robot. "Dani, Sam, try to buy us some time," Elsa said. The ghost girl nodded and flew towards the robot. Sam ran to it and got as close at she could before putting up a force field. The robot pressed against it, managing to push it back along with her.
Danny moved to pick up the claw just as the rocket on the end of it started up. He turned to tell his friends to duck but it stopped. "Wait, press that button again!" Danny called to Tucker.
Tucker pressed the remote and the claw in Danny's arms began to spin. "No, the other one!" Danny yelled.
"Here," Elsa took the remote from Tucker, "8 years with this guy helps me understand what the hell he means by 'that button.'"
Tucker gestured to the robot that was getting close, "Well, then press it!"
"Not yet," she told him.
Danny furrowed his brow, "What are you waiting for?!"
"A closer target!" she yelled back, "You got one shot!"
Danny flew into the air as the robot was practically on top of his friends. Elsa then pressed the button and Danny called, "Everyone be ready!" The claw's rocket started up, Danny took aim, and fired at the robot. The claw easily went right through the Ghomitroid, taking its power source with it.
The robot froze before falling on its side and exploding in the park. Danny floated down and landed next to his friends.
"Just like old times, huh?" Dani asked.
They all couldn't help but laugh now that the threat was destroyed. "Yeah," Danny smiled and placed an arm around Elsa, "Just like old times."
"We've frozen all of Vlad's assets," the Guys in White told the team, "If he even sneezes, we'll find him."
Tucker, Sam, Danny, and Elsa all sat in a white limo that was taking them back to Elsa and Danny's house. The other guy spoke, "The people of this country are indebted to you."
"Does this mean I have to go back into hiding?" Danny asked.
The two shared a look before turning back to him, "Let the politicians figure that out. But I've been asked to tell you that we'll take care of everything else," they smiled at him, "You did good Phantom."
Elsa, however, was on the phone. She had a bunch of voicemails all from Jazz. Worried, she started listening to them as Danny and Tucker began to discuss his ability to run on water and Sam's stamina of holding up that forcefield. Elsa furrowed her brow as the messages she was listening to got progressively more panicked and noisey.
"Danny," she said as she put the messages on speak for him to hear. They shared a look as they got louder but the next message was surprisingly calm. "Sorry for freaking out on you guys," Jazz said, "I've had a lot going on at work and I really appreciate you sending a professional replacement."
"Replacement?" Elsa's eyes widened as the limo stopped in front of their house, "I didn't hire any replacement."
They all rushed out of the car and into the house. They burst through the door but were immediately frozen by a zero point laser. "Sh," Vlad shushed as he stepped towards them with little Sebastian asleep in his arms, "The baby's sleeping," he laughed before he turned sinister, "You took away my chances of a future. And now, I'm taking yours. Oh, don't worry, I'll be a good mentor, just like I could've been to you Daniel. Who knows, in time he may learn how to be a good mastermind." Vlad laughed once more before throwing the group back against the wall, turning intangible, and flying through the roof.
They all took a second to recover before Danny launched through the roof after him. Elsa, Sam and Tucker all rushed out onto the lawn to watch Vlad fly towards his jet. Danny was suddenly stopped when a ghost shield appeared and zapped him.
As he fell to the ground, Sam turned to Tucker. After a shared look they both rushed back into the house to try and find the source of the ghost shield. Danny landed next to Elsa and they tried to think of something to stop Vlad. Vlad suddenly began to move around and green glow was visible to them from below. "Something's happening," Elsa said, "What's happening?!"
They watched as Vlad was suddenly flying out of control. "We have to stop him," Elsa panicked and turned to Danny, "Throw something!"
"I can't! I might hit Sebastian," he answered helplessly.
Elsa stopped and thought of some way around that. "Throw me," she said to herself as she got the idea. They watched as a green blast knocked Vlad away from Sebastian and the baby fell towards the ground. She grabbed Danny's arm, "Danny, throw me!"
Danny didn't even question it. He picked up his wife, flew up as far as he could and launched her towards their kid. Elsa managed to catch Sebastian as their forces collided. "Mommu," he smiled, clinging to her. The baby then looked up at Vlad. With a rather angry look, he shot a powerful ectoblast at the jet's wing, making it stutter and make noises.
"Danny!" Sam called as her and Tucker rushed out of the house, "The shield's down!"
He sprung into action and flew up to catch Elsa and Sebastian just as the jet above them exploded. They touched the ground and braced themselves as the jet came down on top of them. The explosion echoed throughout the neighborhood. When the smoke cleared, it revealed them all huddled under Sam's forcefield. "Nice save," Elsa smiled at her friend as she let the force field fall.
Danny turned and winced when he saw the house was totaled, "I think we might have to move."
Elsa laughed at him and shook her head before checking on the baby in her arms.
"Woah," they all looked up to see a small group of kids all on their bikes, "That was incredible!"
They all stared at the kids before sharing a look. Suddenly, something, or someone, fell from the sky. When they noticed it was Vlad, Danny's fists instantly lit up with energy. He moved towards the man menacingly before Elsa's arm stopped him.
"Hold on Danny," she said before handing Sebastian to Sam. She turned back to Vlad with a deadly look, "I get the first hit."
"Tucker R. Foley," the professor stated. Team Phantom cheered wildly as Tucker walked up onto the stage to receive his Master's degree.
They all had a lot to handle after the whole Vlad situation. It had been a almost a year. Valerie had even managed to get off with community service for her part in the plan, with help from testimonies from the team. She and tucker had actually started to get a little closer and she soon found herself a spot on the team.
It turned out that little baby Sebastian, who was currently being baby sat by Jazz again, had inherited some of Danny's ghostly abilities, making parenting a little harder than it needed to be.
The three girls sat alone as Danny went to find Tucker after the ceremony. "So," Sam raised a brow, "Are you gonna tell Danny?"
"Sam, I only found out today," Elsa teased with a smile, "Besides, today is for Tucker. I don't wanna steal his spotlight."
Valerie crossed her arms over her chest, "I just think you should tell him when he comes back. The sooner he knows, the less angry he'll be if he finds out you didn't tell him right away."
"Tell who what right away?" Tucker asked as the two men came back.
Sam and Valerie stood. "Come on Tucker," Sam said, "Let's go get pictures. Danny and Elsa need to talk for a second." Without even waiting for an answer, Valerie and Sam pulled Tucker away.
Danny just turned to Elsa, "Should I be worried?"
She laughed and shook her head before standing from her seat and taking Danny's arm, leading him away from the crowd. "Danny," she took a deep breath as she took his hands in her own, "I have something I need to tell you."
"Please don't tell me you wanna resume hero work," he teased.
Elsa laughed against before shaking her head. "Danny," she began again before smiling up at him, "I'm pregnant."
Danny froze and Elsa bit her lip as she wait for his reaction. "Are you serious?" he asked. She nodded with a small shrug. A smile broke out on his face and he grabbed her in a big hug. He lifted her into the air and she laughed at his enthusiasm. "Just think, a second kid," Danny smiled, setting her down.
She took a deep, tired breath, "Yeah, a second kid."
"Hey, don't forget," he beamed at her as he held her waist, "We're superheros. What could happen?"
A loud crash was suddenly heard and Tucker, Sam, and Valerie all rushed over. The sky darkened and swirled with clouds as a voice rang through the sky.
"I think it's time I resumed the hunt, welp!"
"Welp?" Danny questioned before his voice dropped in realization, "Oh no."
Skulker appeared in the air with a small army of ghosts, all being ones that he had hunted and caught, with a smirk on his face. Sam smirked at them, "You guys ready to kick some butt?"
Danny glanced at Elsa cautiously. She rolled her eyes at him, knowing exactly what he was thinking. "Like you can win a fight without my help," she stated, half joking, before reassuring him, "I'll take it easy."
Danny glanced at all his friends and found them all ready to jump into action, having worn their suits under their clothes. With a smirk, he turned back to Skulker.
"I'm going ghost!"
