Session 25

All-in

They took their opponent in.

In between chapters, they had taken the time to move Elena and the incense tray. Why their opponent allowed them to do that they weren't quite sure.

"Are you done yet?"

Their attention focused back in on what remained of Alice, a broken husk of the person they didn't know. Out of all of them, Elena had probably the most information on her. Of course, Lily decided dunking her head into the incense tray was the best course of action in this situation.

"Why did you do that?" Aaron inquired, only to get a shrug from the plush succubus. "You guys do realize I can bring out buffs too?"

The detective got a confused glance or two from his teammates and let out a sigh.

"Fine."

With that, Aaron turned his attention to the large feline and began to throw vials at it. While he was doing that, Adarnamon shot forth and dived at 'Alice'. But as she did, a short but intense headache seemed to come over her. It vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving the bird digimon still in a position to perform her attack.

Whirlwind Sting!

Once Adarnamon had gotten herself into position, the bird digimon began rapidly flapping her wings and gazed into the swirling tornado. She gave it one more flap and sent it forth, watching it collide with the opponent and send her up into the air.

Her gaze then turned to Lily, who was currently holding a hand to her head.

"Are you alright?" she shouted and watched Lily shake her head. "Anything I can do for you?"

"No." Lily whispered as her focus returned to the target and cocked back an arrow. The projectile flew forth and pierced into the opponent's leg.

Full Auto Fire!

The guns fired forth will a will of their own and targeted all without a sense of reason. They nor their master cared if someone was severely hurt as long as the job got done. That was what mattered in this particular moment.

While their opponent had her attention focused on trying to hit something, Polly carefully slid her way to the creature's right side and did a slight hop.

Watery Grave Punch!

The monk magi swung her fist into the beast's skin and ducked back down. If she was lucky, she could just avoid the bullets. If not, she would have to dodge the attack somehow. Of course, she did not expect the arrival of a headache to swell forth within her. Like Lily's, it left as quickly as it arrived.

But when 'Alice' turned around, she did not fire her guns off. Instead, the gambler pulled her deck out and flashed a grin.

Despair Draw!

The seven of diamonds and the four of clubs appeared in front of caged girl's chest, represented by Swaggy McSwaggypants and a weird-looking bear respectively. What followed, was a a bunch of dino clones appearing around Alice, along with the bear thing now standing on her head. Strangely, all this got her was a mix of confused stares and laughter. Those reactions quickly vanished off their faces, following another barrage of full auto fire. Unlike the previous bullet hell situation, this one actually managed to knock part of the group back a little bit. However, that could have been due to the added banana peels.

Once that barrage ended, Joey charged towards the opponent as black energy engulfed his fists. Pain seemed to shoot through his head and stopped him in his tracks. He turned his attention to 'Alice', who was just staring off in space at the moment.

Shadow Knuckle!

Joey slammed his fist against Alice's right side, following it up with a flurry of blows. He had hoped to at least stagger the beast, maybe even stun it. But alas, that was not the result he got.

Card Flame!

Playing cards began to rain down upon the group, only to achieve spontaneous combustion and turn into fireballs. But, they seemed to miss them all by quite a bit.

Aaron let out a sigh, turning his attention to Aegiochusmon. Currently, the harem mage was humming some tune Aaron didn't recognize. And even if he had, it probably wouldn't have sounded the way he remembered.

"Did you feel that?" the detective inquired as he lobbed a potion towards 'Alice'.

"Yeah." Aegiochusmon remarked and let out a sigh. "Why do you ask?"

Terra Archens (Blazing Earth)!

Before Aaron could answer, Aegiochusmon let forth a stream of lava at the opponent. Unlike Joey's attack, this seemed to have far more power behind it and actually managed to stagger the beast.

"Lily and Adarnamon made reference to having one, so I just wanted to make sure you were holding up." Aaron explained and got a laugh from the harem mage. This was then followed up by a pat to a head.

"If you really think a little headache would stop a great harem mage such as me, you must be quite delusional." Aegiochusmon joked. "Maybe you should have your rabbit check you out?"

Aaron gave Cutemon a quick glance, only to return with a smile towards Aegiochusmon.

"Sure..." he answered and turned his attention back to 'Alice'.

Hellfire!

Gobble Grenade!

A jar flew through the air, only to be shattered by a burst of bullets. Fire then engulfed the surrounding area, forcing the group to get even closer to their target.

"Crap."

Cutemon and Tsukaimon turned around and took in the far-off jackal and turkey digimon. Currently, they looked they were drinking some tea in peace.

"Tea?" Tsuakimon inquired and took a second look. Indeed, Alice's partners were drinking what appeared to be earl gray or perhaps one of the many other brands of tea. "Give me some!"

The purple pig charged forth, not at all caring about 'Alice' at the moment. Of course, that still left a very confused Gobblemon and Astamon.

"What should we do, boss?" Gobblemon inquired and watched Astamon shake his head. The jackal then put his teacup down and pulled his tommygun out. "Couldn't we just give him some.

"It's not that simple, Gobblemon." Astamon whispered, following it with a sigh. "We are still Miss Alice's partners. Even if she is in that twisted form."

Hellfire!

As Tsukaimon reached them, the jackal fired off his weapon at the pig. While that was happening, Cutemon was sneaking his way around the duo. While he didn't have much in the way of actual combat moves, he could just wing it.

One could imagine the surprise when Astamon found a pink rabbit in earmuffs and booties screaming at him while Tsukaimon blew bubbles at Gobblemon.

"We surrender! We surrender!" both digimon announced and their opponents stopped their attacks. Their attention then turned to the larger groups of fighters, who were still taking 'Alice' on.

Terra Archens (Blazing Earth)!

Aegiochusmon held both of his hands out and watched the stream of lava slam into the opponent. 'Alice' staggered back for a few steps as Adarnamon swooped down.

Seven Song!

Adarnamon's feathers glowed cyan as she 'sang', bring forth a bunch of cyan wave-shaped projectiles to pierce into the skin of the still staggered beast. As she finished that up, Lily charged forth and fired an arrow off.

Once that was done, she gave Joey a nod and stepped back.

Dark Pact!

Shadow Flare!

Pain came into his body, getting converted into temporary strength as quickly as it entered. With that, Joey ran up to 'Alice' and began slamming his staff into her, following it up with a mix of fireballs and weak punches.

Dark Bubble!

As his master was finishing up his combo, Tsukaimon swooped in and let forth a massive belch. Which brought forth a large solid bubble.

Watery Grave Punch!

Polly jumped into the air and slammed her fist into Tsukaimon's attack, watching the projectile fly through the air and slam into 'Alice'. After porting back down to earth, she flung the opponent behind her. Somehow, this was more than enough to make visible cracks appear upon the creature's body.

So they chose the natural solution to this situation: Rushing head-on into the target. This actually managed to create much larger cracks on the body. But brought with it the added consequence of 'Alice' chaining herself to the ground.

"Crap." Lily remarked as they watched more chains sprouted forth. The girl riding on 'Alice' had slumped over, scabs and open wounds forming upon the body of their opponent. "Anyone got a plan?"

The plush succubus got a bunch of confused glances and shrugs. So, she pulled her yumi out and carefully aimed at one of the chains, making sure to not hit a vital part of this opponent.

The arrow fluttered through the air, piercing through the links of chain as it reached the ground. Following Lily's lead, those with projectiles attacks used theirs upon the bindings. When the last chain was sliced, a whitish yellow cocoon of light engulfed their opponent and forced the group to take a few steps back. The light then dissipated and Alice and Elena appeared.

"Oh, hi." Alice greeted as Suiko faintly appeared beside her. "Sorry about this."

Of course, the group's attention turned to Elena.

"I can explain." the gale corsair continued and took a deep breath.

Notes:

Shorter now, but I like how it turned out. Especially with all the other little tweaks to chapter 26th.
