Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
His cell room is nothing special. It only had a bed, a toilet and small sink. There was nothing for him to do. Zane was laying in his bed as he stared at the ceiling. He wasn't surprised to see how many cracks and cobwebs are around this cell.
Today's the day that Zane was allowed off his straitjacket. It was such a relief to finally have some freedom. Zane cracked his knuckles and lift his pillow up.
There was a small pile of paper sitting on his bed. Some were drawings that look like a child did them. Other papers were graded work. Zane looked through the papers and picked out one picture that he felt conflicted about.
It was a poorly drawn picture of Ava and Zane with their mother, Stephanie. They were all holding hands but Zane had a mad face while Ava and Stephanie had smiling faces. This stood out to Zane the most since he felt weird anytime he would see this drawing.
"Zane! Zane! Look at what I made you! Zane! Can you tell me more stories about mommy? Zane! Rosie took me to watch a movie called Coco! It was really fun! Zane!" Ava's excited yapping kept replaying in Zane's mind.
Zane set the papers down and rubbed his forehead as he felt the familiar headache coming back. His heart still has a burning desire to kill Ava but something is changing inside of him.
"She has your annoying optimistic side." Zane complained to no one in the room.
Zane was referring to Stephanie but she wasn't with him. He sigh quietly and went to lay down on his bed. He kept the papers under the pillow and tried to get some rest.
Before Zane could go to sleep, he heard the alarms blaring around the whole facility.
"Great. What's going on this time?" Zane grumbled and slowly sat up.
The alarms kept going off and Zane had a cold feeling going down his spine. Zane shivered faintly, this felt familiar. This reminded him of the time that his mother-
"Zane!" Lucas yelled. He ran to the cell door and Zane pretend to look unamused. "Can you tell whoever is in charge of the alarms to shut it off? Its interrupting my nap." Zane complained until Lucas swung the cell door open.
Lucas looked serious and grabbed Zane by his shoulders.
"Zane, Ava got taken by Biowulf and Breach!" Lucas screamed.
Zane didn't say a word, he started to run out of his cell and made his way to the elevator. Lucas followed close behind him and was worried if he made a grave mistake. However, Zane looked at his former best friend and grumbled, "Take me to White Knight. I need to get the paras-...I need to get Avalon back."
Lucas was surprised to hear Zane call Ava by her real name. Usually Zane would call his sister parasite. He hopes that this could mean that Zane wants to redeem himself.
Aaron continued to run around the city, he was trying to find a place to hide with Rosie. He was careful to not tighten his grip on her since his teeth were sharp. Rosie was motionless, she wasn't unconscious.
When Aaron and Rosie fell to the ground earlier, Rosie was for sure that the crack she heard was from her back. Everything was a blur to Rosie and she started to take a few deep breaths to calm down.
"Would you mind putting me down?" Rosie muttered.
Aaron continued to run until he hurried inside one of vacant hospitals.
Most of the city has been evacuated, which was a good thing. There was a sudden group of EVOs that came out of random spots and started to attack. Aaron set Rosie down in the waiting room of the hospital and stared at her.
Rosie raised an eyebrow, she slowly sat against the wall. She tenderly touched her head where she felt the blood come from. "Ow." Rosie groaned and looked around for something to wipe the blood with.
To her surprise, Aaron got close to her and dropped a cloth in her hands. He stepped back and went back to looking at her.
"You're a strange EVO, aren't you?...Thank you." Rosie admitted and held the cloth to her head.
Aaron let out a low growl and tilt his head. He slowly crawled towards Rosie and kept his eyes on her. This made Rosie a bit uneasy and tried to get away.
"H-Hey, stay back! You're creeping me out." Rosie shivered.
This didn't stop Aaron since he nuzzled his head against her stomach. He chirred softly and kept his head on Rosie's lap. Rosie looked at Aaron and slowly pat his head. If it wasn't for Aaron's EVO appearance being intimidating, Rosie would have found him cute.
The large rows of teeth is what's freaking her out.
"You know, Aaron would be jealous if he found you cuddling on my lap." Rosie remarked when Aaron looked up at her after she said his name.
Rosie stared at him and noticed the teal eyes...she looked stunned.
Rosie whispered, "Aaron? Is that you?"
Aaron didn't replied, he nuzzled his scaly cheek against Rosie's soft cheek. This made her slowly hugged his face and noticed something around the corner of her eye.
Her parents.
Rosie flinched when she heard Six's magna blades were ready to strike. She frantically motioned for him not to attack.
"Wait, don't attack dad!" Rosie quietly begged causing Aaron to raise his head to look at Six and Rebecca.
Instead of attacking, Aaron bowed his head and remained calm.
"Mom, dad, Aaron turned EVO." Rosie sadly said while they were in disbelief. "How does Aaron have this much self control?" Rebecca whispered when Aaron went back to Rosie.
Rosie looked at him sadly and pat his head until she noticed Six's face darken slightly.
"Um dad...are you okay?" Rosie nervously said but winced faintly when Rebecca went to help her up. Rebecca said, "We need to focus on getting Aaron and Rosie out of here. With Van Kleiss out there, these two could get hurt."
Aaron started growling when he heard Van Kleiss' name. Before Aaron could do anything, Rosie pat his head and whispered, "Hey, take it easy Aaron." Aaron continued to growl until he twitched slightly when he looked at the entrance of the hospital.
Rosie touched her ear piece and heard a faint voice. She listened carefully and frowned, "Rex knows where Van Kleiss is right now. We need to help him."
"We're going to help him. But you need to go back to safety." Rebecca said causing Rosie to frown. She knew that this would be an issue but Rosie sigh, "You can't expect me to back down when I know that I should help."
"This isn't a game Rosalind. This could be a matter of life or death. Go back back to the safe zone. Now." Six sternly said.
Rosie started to feel frustrated until they heard Lucia's voice through their ear pieces.
"We have an emergency! We found out from White Knight that Ava got taken by Breach and Biowulf. Van Kleiss might have her. Whoever is near his location, hold your fire! We have a hostage situation!" Lucia frantically said.
Rosie didn't felt the pain on her back anymore. She felt a sudden rush of adrenaline flowing through her veins and started to run outside.
'I know I will get in trouble for this but I need to get Ava!' Rosie thought to herself and looked determined.
The only thing that Ava could hear was a constant ringing noise. She covered her ears and looked up to see a familiar cold stare.
"Now are you done with your little tantrum?" Van Kleiss asked causing Ava to back away slowly.
Ava whispered, "I don't want anyone to get hurt."
"You naive child, do you really think no one would get hurt during this battle?" Van Kleiss frowned.
This made Ava coward a little, she wanted to go back home. She didn't want to be anywhere near Van Kleiss. But who's going to save her?
Suddenly, they heard the wall break down with a large metal fist went through the wall. Ava looked hopeful when she saw Rex going through the hole that he created. "Rex!" Ava cheered until Van Kleiss threw her to Biowulf.
"So you've finally showed up." Van Kleiss said while Rex formed his slam cannon.
"Watch out!" Ava screamed when Van Kleiss made a large vine appear behind Rex. Rex was grabbed by the neck and pulled back. Worried that things might end badly, Ava had to think of something and fast.
As Biowulf pulled Ava away from the room, she noticed they were passing large chunks of debris. Knowing that this might be her only chance, Ava reached her little hand out and touched one of them.
The large debris slowly formed into a deformed gargoyle EVO. It started to sway from side to side as its wing slowly expand out.
"S-Save Rex! Please!" Ava squealed.
The gargoyle turned to the direction of the room and marched inside as its started to screech loudly.
Biowulf grabbed Ava's arm and continues dragging her along.
"You're already causing a lot of trouble. We need to go!" Biowulf sternly said until they heard Zane.
Zane walked out of the shadows and held up his hand. It was surrounded by blue static and he muttered, "Let her go Biowulf, or else I'm coming after you."
"Do you believe that you can defeat me?" Biowulf said and made Ava appear beside him.
Zane started to chuckled and he cracked his knuckles. "Come on. I'm the son of your leader. If I remember correctly, I was the one who put him in a coma for five years. Do you really think you're lucky?" Zane simply said.
Rex didn't know where the gargoyle came from. It just went in the room that he was in with Van Kleiss and started to help him fight.
He decides to not question as he was currently fighting Van Kleiss.
"This time, I will defeat you once and for all!" Rex yelled and formed his smack hands.
Van Kleiss grinned and drained the nanites from the gargoyle causing it to break apart. "Even if I'm gone, my children will continue on with my legacy. Zane might not be a lost cause but Avalon, she'll need a little persuasion."
Rex threw a few punches at Van Kleiss but backed away quickly when Aaron hurried in the room. Aaron hissed loudly and charged to Van Kleiss. He grabbed Van Kleiss' arm with his teeth and kept trying to pull him back to Rex.
"How many surprised am I getting one day?" Rex mumbled and ran to them. Quickly, Rex hurried to cure Van Kleiss of any nanites he still had left in him.
"Uncle Rex! Everything okay here?" Julio yelled from outside as agents hurried in to aim their weapons ready to fire at Van Kleiss if he tried anything.
"Everything's alright kiddo. Mission completed." Rex bragged and Aaron wasn't amused. He growled and approached him. "Easy there tiger, hold still." Rex ordered and began to cure Aaron.
Aaron transformed back to his human self but was only wearing some ripped pants. His whole body was covered in bruises and marks. Aaron groaned in pain as he fell on his knees.
"Aaron?" Rex said in shock, he didn't realize that the EVO helping him just now was Aaron.
Aaron slowly looked up at him and smiled tiredly, "Took you long to figure that out."
Rex helped Aaron up and guide him outside to the medics that were looking for anyone injured to help them. Rosie was holding Ava tightly in her arms as she was sitting the stretchers.
Rebecca was checking on Rosie's injuries and finished wrapping the bandages around Rosie's head. When they noticed Aaron was back to normal, Rosie handed Ava to her father. She got off the stretcher and ran to Aaron.
Aaron stumbled back but held Rosie tightly in his arms and closed his eyes.
Everything was finally over, but there's still a lot of work that needs to be done. Rex looked around and surveyed the damage as he approached Six.
"Okay. Before you try to ruin the moment between them, should we tell Knight about the damages?" Rex said.
Six said, "Of course we do. Once Providence repair the damages, everyone can return back to their homes."
Ava looked up at them and said, "Does this mean I can come back home?"
Rex smiled and ruffled Ava's hair. He promised, "That's right Ava. You're finally returning back with Six and Holiday."
I'm so sorry for taking so long with the chapter! DX I started school on the 24th but I had to do some errands last week. This week, I managed to get through my classes but I had to drive to my siblings' schools to get their laptops and supplies...with the amount of workbooks they have for each topic, I'm getting overwhelmed .-. Plus they start school on the 31st, so expect slower updates.
Thank you for your review on the last chapter YellowAngela! I'll admit this, I'm going to start crying when I complete this story. But that's okay :D All good things must come to an end :) And Harmony is a special case. She was experimented on by Michael and gained her unique traits. So if Rex tried to cure her from her nanites, it won't change her appearance back to normal. She's forever stuck the way she is and that's why she's willing to work for Providence, to get back at Michael. Is it bad that I always make that happen when someone asks what can go wrong? XD Its like a running gag for me XD
I'll do my best to update the next chapters. I can handle with my school work but I do need to help my younger siblings with their school work. My sister is heading back to school while our brothers are doing online learning. So I'll be busy the next few days but I'll be sure to get working on the chapters as quick as I can :) Until then, I hope everyone is doing well and is having a great day :)
