Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
Rebecca held a basket full of clean clothes as she made her way to Rosie's room. It was a quiet afternoon, Six decided to take Ava to the park while Rebecca stayed with Rosie at home. So the house was quieter than usual.
When Rebecca opened the door, she spotted Rosie at her desk with various of items scatter around.
There was school textbooks, notebook, binders and papers arranged on the table. Rosie was looking through her laptop and quickly wrote some notes in one the notebooks. Rebecca could tell that her daughter was getting overwhelmed by all the school work.
Rosie has a habit of moving her hair back anytime she's stressed.
Without letting Rosie know that she's here, Rebecca silently set the basket on Rosie's bed.
Suddenly, Rosie started to cheered, "Yes! Take that homework!"
Rosie twirled her chair around in victory but screeched loudly when she saw Rebecca.
"Mom! What are you doing here?!" Rosie quickly said as she started to blush in embarrassment.
Rebecca smiled and said, "I'm here to drop off your laundry. Are you done with your homework?"
Rosie sheepishly nodded and started cleaning up her desk. She looked at the time and whispered, "I'm done for today. My brain's fried and I might just relax for bit until dad and Ava get home."
They both knew that it would take a while for both Six and Ava to return home. Rebecca suggested that Six should take Ava out for the whole afternoon to have some quality bonding time. They did noticed that Six didn't spend enough time with Ava, so Six decided to take her to the park. Then maybe later they might go get some ice cream before dinner.
Rebecca knew that Rosie was bored right now and wanted to help her do something fun.
"Meet me in the car after you put on your shoes." Rebecca told Rosie.
Rosie looked confused and tilt her head, "Where are we going?"
Rebecca replied, "We're going to the bookstore. Didn't you say that one of your favorite manga book just release a new volume last week?"
The young girl's eyes lit up and squealed, "Yes! Let's go!"
Now this was a sight that most people wouldn't expect to see.
A stern looking man wearing a green suit at a children's playground. This would cause suspicious but since Ava was with Six, then it seems to be acceptable for the parents at the park. Six was standing near Ava as she was climbing on the monkey bars.
"Dad, did Rosie go to the park too when she was little?" Ava asked and started to dangle upside down.
"Not really. She prefer to stay at home to watch TV or read books." Six admitted and grabbed Ava by the ankle when she slipped. He carefully set Ava on the ground and she started smiling. Ava hurried to the the slide and laughed.
Six shook his head and watched her from a distance. He noticed Ava and Rosie were so much alike but they were still different at the same time. They both had a short attention span and changed subjects immediately. But when Rosie was little, she would prefer to stay at home. She would either started reading, drawing, or watching a movie or doing jigsaw puzzle. The only time she wanted to go outside was to play with her cousins or if she wanted to go in her tree house for her quiet time.
With Ava, she only enjoy reading when it comes to bedtime. She prefer to go outside and play different sports, her favorite sport is soccer. Ava does seem more adventurous but can get into trouble without realizing it. Its almost like Ava doesn't think about what might happen next if she does something out of the ordinary.
"Dad! Can we bring some cupcakes for my class on Friday? We're going to watch a movie before school ends." Ava hurriedly said and slide down at the bottom of the slide.
"I'll text your mother-" Six began until Ava made a face.
Ava interrupted, "Um, mom shouldn't make the cupcakes. They might become like rocks when I bring them to class."
Six resist the urge to grinned and picked her up. "Don't worry, Rosie will make the cupcakes. I'll distract your mother from going to the kitchen."
Ava looked relief and said, "Thank you daddy."
Before Six could say anything else, Ava perked up. "Can we go buy some ice cream?"
Six told her, "You're going to spoil your appetite."
Ava smiled innocently and asked, "Even if I tell you that Aaron is thinking about taking Rosie on another date?"
"I'm listening."
"So care to explain how did your dad find about about our date next week?" Aaron asked while he was helping Rosie in her room.
After Rosie and Rebecca came back from the bookstore, they decided to go buy some books and things for the kids. They bought backpacks, supplies, books, some toys and things that said they liked. Rosie send Aaron a quick text that she might need some help.
Now they were in her room trying to organize the backpacks.
Rosie carefully put a small box of Legos in a green backpack and smiled.
"Well, I think Ava might have told my dad to get some ice cream. But don't worry, mom said she'll handle with dad while we go on the date." Rosie admitted.
Aaron shook his head but stared at Rosie lovingly. She was busy writing the names of the kids down on a tag. It was clear that Rosie already loves all the kids and is doing everything she can to make sure things goes smoothly for them.
Tomorrow is when the training will begin for the kids and Aaron knew this might take a while for the kids to adjust. But if things go well for the kids, then the people who fell victim to Michael's experiment will come out of hiding. Who knows if there are more kids or adults with nanite abilities out there. All that Providence can do is showed the world that the kids are in good care and are getting the help they need.
"Aaron, you're staring." Rosie blushed faintly and zipped up the last backpack.
Aaron chuckled, "Sorry. You're just so adorable when you put your mind to something."
Rosie smiled and started to place the backpacks in a storage bin and closed the bin with a lid. She went back to Aaron and sat down beside him. He wrapped an arm around her and held her close. Rosie closed her eyes happily and lay her head against his chest.
"Hey Aaron, what do you see yourself in the future?" Rosie asked and stayed close to him.
Aaron stayed quiet, he was trying to think about what his future. Ever since high school, Aaron never thought of anything else beside working for Providence. This is all he's ever known. Aaron never pictured doing anything else, like being a doctor, engineer or a teacher. But ever since Rosie came to his life, Aaron started to have mix ideas about his future.
Aaron leaned against Rosie's bed frame and held Rosie.
"Um...I hadn't thought about anything if I'm being honest. What about you?" Aaron asked.
Rosie opened her eyes and her face lit up.
Rosie said, "Well, I have a few things in mind. Once I graduate from high school, I'm definitely going to college. Then after I graduate from college, I'll work at Providence with my family. Then maybe a few years later, we'll get married and have a family of our own. That is, if you want to have a future together."
"You sound like you already have a plan set." Aaron stared.
Rosie immediately sat up and happily said, "Not everyone's planned future goes the way they want to. Things can happen along the way. But the one thing that I know for sure is that I want a family. Maybe having three or four kids is the idea but then again, anything can happen."
Aaron chuckled quietly and he got up. He grabbed his backpack as he looked at the time, "We have all the time in the world. But I really need to head back home. We wouldn't want to worry my aunt even more."
Knowing that Aaron was going to leave, Rosie got up and kissed his cheek softly.
"Drive home safely. Remember the kids' training session starts tomorrow. I'll be there once school's over." Rosie said and Aaron pulled her closer. He kissed her lovingly and chuckled when Rosie started blushing heavily.
Aaron grinned, "I love it when you get blushy on me."
"S-Shut up."
Inca was flying up in the air as she was using her wings to help her glide around. She tried to follow Rex around as he was using his boogie pack.
"Are you doing fine kid?" Rex asked when Inca glide down to a tree and made her wings disappeared. She landed on a branch and tried to relax. Inca looked up at him and admitted, "I'm tired. Can we take a break?"
Rex landed on the ground and said, "I guess you take a small break. I'll focus on Carlos and Edgar."
Inca nodded and leaned against the tree and looked down to watch the boys train with Rex. But she was interested with how the training went with Debbie and Circe.
Debbie stood beside Circe as she looked around the Petting Zoo. There was a few birds scattered around in the trees and Debbie has to summon them. She looked at Circe and said, "How do I get them all to come here?"
"Rosie thinks that there might be a chance that you could use your mind to control any animals. You know how to control them by touching them but Rosie suggests we try using your mind or your voice." Circe said.
Debbie started to giggled, "So if I start singing then the birds will come to me? It makes me feel like a Disney princess."
Circe smiled and pat her head, "You can try that."
Debbie smiled but screamed in fear when Inca jumped down behind her and grinned, "Boo-AH!"
The birds flew out of their hiding spots and immediately went to attack Inca.
Inca gasped loudly and quickly formed a turtle shell around her and took cover inside. Debbie covered her mouth in shock when the birds tried to attack Inca by pecking the shell. Circe quickly used her sonic scream to scare the birds off.
"Sorry Inca! I swear I didn't order them to attack you!" Debbie worriedly said.
Inca popped her head out of one of the shell's holes. "That was so cool! Can you do that again!? I want to see if I can fly faster than the birds?!" Inca excitedly said.
"Is this what you made Ms. Rosie do for training?" Gracie asked while she had a blindfold around her eyes.
Gracie didn't hear an answer but she sensed something was coming her way from behind. She quickly stepped to the side and heard a loud clang. Gracie stumbled backwards and fell on her bottom.
"You have fast reflexes." Six admitted and helped Gracie up. She pulled the blindfold off and said, "It's only because I have my super senses. My powers are helpful at times but it gets annoying at times."
Aaron approached them and said, "Does it give your headaches?"
Gracie nodded but ducked when a metal shard flew past her head. Everyone turns their attention towards Franklin.
Franklin turned bright red in embarrassment and sheepishly said, "Sorry. It slipped."
"It's okay Franklin. Accidents happen but we need to be more careful." Aaron reassured and went to focus on Franklin's training.
Franklin grabbed a metal ball and levitate it from his palms. Aaron tried to coach Franklin into changing the shape of the ball. Aaron jumped when Franklin accidentally made the ball turn into a spike ball. The young boy dropped the spike ball down on the ground.
It left a dent on the ground and Franklin quickly apologized.
"Aaron, go help Gracie with her training. I can handle with Franklin." Six ordered and went to Franklin.
Aaron nodded and started to train with Gracie.
Franklin looked up at Six and said, "Can I ask you a question?"
"No." Six replied.
"If you're a ninja, is Ms. Rosie a ninja too?" Franklin asked.
Six raised an eyebrow but grabbed a few sheets of metal from a table. He handed them to Franklin and said, "Focus on training."
"If you're training us then does that mean we're going to be ninjas too?!" Franklin excitedly said.
This was going to be a long few weeks or months.
Aidan started giggling when Rebecca was using an otoscope in his ear. Rebecca smiled at the toddler and asked, "Does that tickle?"
"Ya!" Aidan squealed and Rebecca set the tool down. She picked up the toddler and carried him to the playpen in the lab. Harper was sleeping in the playpen with her hand clench her blanket tightly.
Rosie monitor Janet's nanites while she lay on the examining table. Rosie scribbled down some notes when Janet started to hiccup and kept flickering from being invisible and visible. After Rosie finished looking at the screens, she helped Janet get down from the table.
"Go drink some water sweetie. You can have some free time until its time for you to go home." Rosie pat Janet's head.
Janet smiled, "Okay Ms. Rosie."
Rosie watched Janet hurried to grab one of the tablets and went to sit down on the bean bag chairs. She noticed Janet was playing a matching game and Rosie went around to find Blake.
"Mom, have you seen Blake?" Rosie asked.
Rebecca pointed under the table as Blake was reading one of the books that Rosie gave him. Or at least try to. Rosie went near the table and lay on her stomach. She smiled fondly at Blake when he was quietly trying to read the words out loud.
"Boom, boom, boom. The bear will...tr...tro..." Blake whispered and Rosie gently said, "Tromp."
"Tromp...read me this word." Blake whispered and showed the next word. Rosie answered, "I'll make you a deal. If you let us run a few tests on you then I can read the whole book to you."
Blake became warily, he didn't like the sound of being tested on. But he noticed the kindness in Rosie's eyes and she looked patience. Blake set the book down and slowly crawled out of from under the table.
Rosie got up and held her hand out for Blake to grab. Blake looked hesitant and didn't grab her hand. He climbed on the examining table and kept his hands folded together.
Rebecca and Rosie glanced at each other and started to quietly talk to each other.
"We need to check what happens to living things when Blake touches them. I have a feeling that something happened to him when his powers activated...maybe he's similar to Tomura Shigaraki?"
Rebecca sigh, "Providence still hasn't found any information about Blake yet. No birth certificate or anything. He needs a little more attention from us."
"I can help with that." Rosie smiled.
Blake didn't listen to a word they were saying. He was zoning out and kept staring at his hands. For a brief second, Blake saw fresh blood splattered on his hands. He felt an overwhelming darkness surrounding him and felt cold all over his body.
'All you'll ever bring in this world is pain and death. You're nothing to me, you'll be nothing to anyone.' A man's voice darkly said in Blake's mind.
However, Blake felt a warm hand touch his head. He felt someone gently ruffled his hair and he looked up to see Rosie.
"You don't have to be scared Blake. You're safe with us." Rosie promised while Rebecca approached him.
Rebecca held up a small white clip and explained, "This is called a pulse oximetry. This will measure the oxygen level in your blood. I'm going to attach this to your finger but it won't hurt you."
Blake slowly stuck out his finger and kept his other fingers closed tightly in his a fist. They started with their testings.
"So, how did everyone do with their groups today?" Rosie asked in the meeting room.
Circe spoke up, "Debbie found a different way to control the animals. She's trying to focus on using her voice but still needs a little more practice."
"Yeah. She accidentally scream and the birds started attacking Inca." Rex added.
Rosie pulled out a purple journal that was labeled, Debbie.
"Debbie will focus on using her voice to control the animals...So when she screamed, that's when the birds started attacking? That's an interesting discovery." Rosie admitted and wrote down some recommendation for Debbie's journal.
Rosie looked up at the adults and asked, "Is there anyone else that needs to be focused on?"
"Franklin is still having trouble with changing the metal into different shapes. Whenever he tries to change the shape, it automatically flies out of his hands." Aaron mentioned.
Rebecca suggested, "I think it would be for the best if we started running a few more tests on Franklin."
Rosie agreed and pulled out Franklin's journal that was the color gray.
"I'll send today's report to White Knight when I get home. Hopefully we can figure out how to help the kids soon." Rosie admitted.
"Why can't you give the report right now?" Aaron asked confused.
Rosie smiled softly, "I promised Blake that I would read him a story after we ran a few tests on him. Plus I want to spend some more time with Blake, Debbie, Franklin, Gracie and Inca. Since half of the kids went home, the other kids might be bored with doing nothing until their bed time."
"I can write the report for you. Go ahead and have a great time with the kids. But remember to do your homework." Rebecca said.
"Thanks mom." Rosie smiled.
