Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
"Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul. With a corncob pipe and a button nose. And two eyes made out of coal. Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say. He was made of snow but the children know. How he came to life one day." Rosie sang happily while she was putting some hot cocoa powder in half of a chocolate sphere.
She carefully placed mini marshmallows on top of the small pile of hot cocoa powder. Rosie grabbed the other half of the sphere and put some chocolate frosting around the center. After she made both spheres stick together, Rosie smooth the excess chocolate frostings.
A tiny hand appeared from under the table and tried to reached for the chocolate spheres.
"Ava, don't touch that." Rosie warned and kept her back against the table.
Ava popped her head up and immediately pouted, "Come on Rose. Can't I have one?"
Rosie turned off the stove and removed the pan filled with melted chocolate. She turned to face to face the little girl.
"They're not the ones you get from the store. These are hot chocolate bombs." Rosie explained and held up one of the decorated ones.
Ava tilt her head and questioned, "...So do they explode and make chocolate splatter to the walls?"
Rosie giggled and shook her head. It was funny to see what's going on in Ava's mind.
"That's not how the chocolate bombs work sweetie. But you put this in a cup of hot milk and that's when the powder and marshmallows come out. It's really fun to watch." Rosie admitted and started to work on another hot chocolate bomb.
Ava quickly grabbed some marshmallows and made a run for it to her room.
"AVA!" Rosie complained but let it go as she focused on her work.
This was a small gift for the kids to have since it has been a little chilly lately. So Rosie is spending the rest of her evening trying to make hot chocolate bombs for the kids. It was one of the few things that help Rosie calm herself down after a stressful few days of school and 'work.'
Rosie continued to hum to herself but jumped when her phone started ringing.
"A PHONE CALL IS HERE! A PHONE CALL IS HERE!" All Might's voice loudly said and Rosie quickly answered.
"Hello?" Rosie asked.
Aaron tiredly said, "Hey Rose, I know you're trying to take some time off. But can you send me some information about the kids' weaknesses to the scientists?"
"Um...sure? But why do the scientists need to have the info? Is there a problem?" Rosie asked and started cleaning up her mess in the kitchen.
"Well, Aidan's parents called, they said that Aidan won't be coming to Providence tomorrow. He has a higher fever than usual. So the scientists send him some prescribed antibiotics and medicines. They just need the information to see if they can help prevent Aidan from overheating his body." Aaron whispered.
Rosie became concerned and started to jog into her room, "Just give me a few minutes and I'll send the info to the scientists."
"Okay, thanks Rosie." Aaron sigh quietly.
Rosie immediately asked, "Are you okay Aaron? You sound like you've been punched by someone."
"Yeah. Just some family problems. Nothing new." Aaron rolled his eyes and heard the familiar typing on the other end of the phone.
Rosie calmly said, "Do you want to talk about it babe?"
"Not really." Aaron admitted and stayed quiet on the other end.
Rosie stopped typing on her laptop and tried to figure out a way to help lighten Aaron's mood. She started smiled, "Hey, look on the bright side. We'll spend some time together this weekend at Providence. Maybe we can watch a movie and cuddle while the kids are sleeping."
"Are you suggesting we Netflix and chill?" Aaron quietly chuckled.
"Absolutely. But instead of actually doing the deed, we will watch a movie or some anime and eat some junk good. Cause I'm sure my parents will murder us if we do the dirty deed." Rosie giggled.
Aaron faintly chuckled, he can always count on Rosie to make him feel better.
Rosie send the emails to the scientists and exhale in relief. Now that the information was sent, she can feel a little more at ease. However, Rosie was still worried about Aaron. She can tell that Aaron was still bothered by his family drama.
"Hey, why don't we try taking the kids on a 'field trip' to the zoo on Friday before we have to watch over half the kids on the weekend? I can make a permission slip ready for the parents and have Knight approved for the trip tomorrow. I know you love being around the kids and going to the zoo might be fun." Rosie suggested.
Aaron grinned, "Are you sure handling ten kids at a zoo will be easy and fun?"
Rosie teased, "What's the matter? I thought you said the kids were easy to handle. Besides, they're already trained with controlling their powers. I want to see if they can handle things while in public. If you're that worried, I'll ask for some agents to volunteer to help with monitoring the kids."
"Yeah...the last thing I need is for Inca to cause trouble or Debbie to control the zoo animals." Aaron admitted.
"The FitnessGram PACER Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues." Hearing those words made Rosie feel a bit anxious. It's not like this was difficult for Rosie, the training sessions with her dad is much worse.
But hearing the music and dings going faster is what gets to Rosie.
"Start."
Rosie began jogging with the rest of her volleyball class and immediately tried to focus. For the next few days, Rosie's volleyball coach is letting the students focus on finishing marking down their new scores for the progress report. They just did the sit ups and push ups yesterday.
Today, the class will focus on the FitnessGram Pacer Test. Tomorrow is the mile run and Rosie is ready for that.
In the first week of school, Rosie did fairly well for her FitnessGram. She reached to 36 until she decided to quit. Now, Rosie wants to keep going until her lungs started burning.
"Ding. 34."
Rosie picked up the speed and started to jog a bit faster.
"Come on Rose! You got this!" Farron cheered for Rosie while he clapped his hands.
Rosie gave him a smiled and continued to run with the remaining students.
"Ding. 41. End of level 5."
That made Rosie want to continued running until she felt tired. Which didn't take long since Rosie was loosing her breathe and tried to make it to the line.
"Ding. 57."
Rosie panted quietly and walked back to the rest of the class as they sat against the wall. She sat down beside Farron and tried to regulate her breathing.
"You did great today." Farron told her and chuckled when Rosie only gave him a thumbs up. She pointed at him and held up two fingers.
That was her way of saying thanks, you too.
Rosie closed her eyes and wheezed, "Is it bad that my left side is hurting?"
"That's perfectly normal. I'm sure every kid will face this, even if they are fit." Farron replied.
"Just wait until the mile run tomorrow." Rosie pointed out. Farron simply groaned, he could feel his calves getting sore tomorrow.
He looked at Rosie and crossed his arms, "Hey, are you available tonight?"
"Sorry Farron. I still need to take care of the kids until the replacement comes in." Rosie apologized.
Farron sigh, "You don't need to apologize. You're doing a great thing with being the caretaker and teacher to those kids. They need someone kind and compassionate to help them. I just want to spend some time with you."
Rosie suddenly had an idea, she immediately smiled and suggested, "Well, why don't you help me with the kids on Friday? We're going on a field trip to the zoo and I could use a little help."
Farron thought about it, keeping an eye on a kid is one thing. But looking after ten kids with nanite abilities is another thing. However, this might be his only chance with hanging out with his good friend Rosie. Who knows how long will it take her to find some spare time to hang out with him. Especially now that she's already has a boyfriend.
"Okay. I'll come along." Farron finally agreed.
Rebecca was already half way finished with her work when Six entered in the lab with Rosie. She noticed Rosie has a bucket over her head and was being pulled by Six.
"Okay. What happened?" Rebecca feared for the worse when Six made Rosie sit down.
Six crossed his arms and had an amused looked on his face. "Why don't you explain to your mother what happened?" Six said and Rosie mumbled under the bucket.
"Sweetie, what happened?" Rebecca asked as she looked concerned when she pulled the bucket from her daughter's head.
She stared at Rosie as she noticed Rosie's hair was burnt and short. One side of Rosie's hair seem to be burnt while a large chunk of Rosie's hair was cut short. Rosie didn't looked amused and whispered, "Well, Aidan was throwing a tantrum so I tried to calm him down. Just when I was handling with him, Aidan burped over my shoulder and accidentally burnt the side of my hair."
"That explains the burnt edges. But what happened here?" Rebecca said while she examined the other side of her daughter's hair.
Rosie sigh, "Well, Franklin tried to changed shapes with these small sheets of metal Aaron gave him. BUT the sheets accidentally went flying pass my head. That's when I noticed that the sheets accidentally cut my hair."
"Looks like Franklin needs more time training with his powers." Rebecca admitted and arranged Rosie's hair to see if she can try to fix it.
Rosie grabbed a short piece of her hair and noticed it barely reached her chin. Without much options, Rosie looked at Rebecca and said, "Mom, do you think you can cut my hair?"
"I'm not good with hair Rosie. Why don't we take you to a professional tomorrow morning?" Rebecca suggested.
Rosie frowned, "I really don't want to miss out on school tomorrow. I already missed enough days as it is."
"I'll handle it." Six told them and grabbed a pair of scissors from the table.
Rosie gave her father a skeptical look and raised an eyebrow, "Please don't make it too short dad."
Six told her, "I won't make it worse than it already it is."
Rosie rolled her eyes but cringed when she heard the snipping of her hair. She looked at Rebecca and winced, "This feels weird. I don't like it."
"Sorry Rose. But this might be the only way to help fix it." Rebecca said as she watched the hair falling to the floor.
Rosie kept hearing the scissors cut her hair and she tried to be optimistic. She glanced at the air vent and wasn't shock to see Blake watching her. Blake was wide eye and his mouth hung open.
Rosie joked, "Let me guess. I look ugly?"
"No! It...hold up!" Blake said and crawled away from them in the air vent. "I'm surprised that no one bothers to tell Blake to stay out of the air vent."
Rebecca said, "Well Blake isn't doing any harm by going to the vents. But I think this is his way of calming down if he gets overwhelmed."
"Now that I believe. Blake isn't friends with any of the kids just yet. Maybe that will change soon? I am reading him stories before he goes to bed-" Rosie began before the doors to the lab slide open.
Rex and Aaron hurried in the room with the kids right behind them. They looked at Rosie and noticed her hair was short now. It use to be long but Six managed to cut it evenly below her ears.
"Really Blake? You told everyone?" Rosie whispered.
The kids hurried to Rosie and kept commenting about Rosie's hair cut. Most of the boys tried to touched her hair while the girls were wincing about it. They would love styling it when they had their free time.
Rosie smiled, "Kids, relax. It's just hair. It will grow back. But starting tomorrow, we're going to do some extra training with your powers."
The kids winced but didn't protest.
"However, you kids will have a field trip to the zoo on Friday to look forward too." Rosie added.
The kids immediately looked excited but Aaron sternly said, "You need your parents or legal guardian's permission first."
"Don't worry Mr. Kitt, we'll get our permission slips signed!" Edgar smiled.
Rosie smiled at the kids until Rex grinned, "Cut your hair shorter and you'll like your old man now."
"I just need to master his signature serious face and wear some glasses and I'll be ready to go."
