Without further ado, let the chapter begin!
After breakfast, the kids were allowed to do whatever they want for their day off of school. As long as they were in the same room with either Aaron or Rosie, the kids could do just about anything. However, they weren't allowed to cause destruction.
Ava had to learn that the hard way.
Blake was sitting beside Rosie with the bean bag chairs as they were watching Revenge of the Sith. Debbie was busy reading a book out loud for Inca and Gracie. Franklin was playing tag with Ava as Aaron kept a close eye on them.
This was a relaxing day and everyone thought that nothing could go wrong.
Or so they thought.
Suddenly the alarms around the whole base at Providence went off. Most of the kids were startled by the loud noises. Aaron and Rosie immediately paid attention as the speakers announced, "This is Code Blue! All agents report to your stations and prepare for battle! Intruders entered the premises!"
'Intruders?' Rosie thought to herself and immediately got the kids to line up.
The kids were getting worried but Rosie smiled to reassure them that everything will be okay. "Don't worry kids. Providence will handle this situation but we need to head to the safe room." Rosie told them and went to Aaron to see what he knew.
Aaron hurried to grab a tablet and pressed a few buttons as he looked into the cameras. He turned away from the others and looked stunned to see Breach's portals were leading a lot of EVOs out.
"Zane is attacking." Aaron muttered quietly causing Rosie to frowned. She quickly pulled out of her phone.
Rosie whispered, "That can't true Aaron...it just can't."
Rosie hurriedly dialed Blake's number and was hoping it wasn't true.
Zane answered, "Rosa, now's not a good time."
"Where are you?" Rosie demanded as she motioned for the kids to follow her to the safe room. Aaron followed behind her and held a blaster in his hands.
Zane frowned, "At the Abysus. Like always. Look I can't talk right now. We found Breach unconscious outside of the walls last night. She hasn't woken up yet so we're concerned."
"That's impossible Zane. Breach is opening some portals right now and sending EVOs our way." Rosie told him.
On the other hand, Zane was murmuring some things to himself and said, "Can you seen who's leading the attack? I have a bad feeling about this."
Rosie motioned for Aaron to look at the cameras again as everyone made their way to the elevator. The kids hurried inside, they stayed huddle together while Rosie pressed a few codes on the dial pad. Aaron searched through cameras in the tablet.
Ava looked up and spotted the familiar face on the tablet.
"Seth?" Ava whispered.
Rosie asked, "Who's Seth?"
"Seth? Does he have a scar across his face that looks like claw marks?" Zane quickly question.
"Yes he does. You better explain what's going on Zane. Or else we'll hunt you guys down once the attack is over." Aaron warned.
Rosie frowned at Aaron but her phone kept cutting off and the line went dead.
"Get the kids in the safe room and stay there. I'll go handle with helping everyone taking those EVOs down." Aaron told Rosie when the elevator doors open.
Rosie hesitated but got the kids out, "Be careful Aaron."
Aaron focused on trying to contact any agents while Rosie and the kids hurried to the safe room.
"This is Agent Kitt, does anyone need back up?" Aaron said as he pressed on his ear piece. All he heard was static. He kept listening for a reply when the elevator doors stopped at the top floor. Aaron was about to leave when a jellyfish EVO grabbed him and started electrocuting him.
Aaron yelled in pain and was tossed across the hallway. He groaned and looked up in a daze. He spotted the jellyfish was heading towards the elevator.
"Get away you oversize jellyfish!" Aaron yelled but some tranquilizers darts struck the jellyfish's head. It fell backwards and landed on the floors with a faint thud. Aaron glanced behind him and noticed it was Kenwyn.
She held the tranquilizer gun and said, "Are you okay Agent Kitt?"
"I'm fine. Thank you." Aaron said and took Kenwyn's hand as she helped him up. Kenwyn sternly said, "Where are the kids and Agent Holiday?"
Aaron dusted himself off and said, "They're in the safe room. But are there any EVOs coming this way?"
"We have EVOs coming out from every corner. But we need you to help us at the front line. I have agents heading this way to prevent anyone from getting through to the safe room." Kenwyn told Aaron and handed him a Providence club.
Aaron held the club as there was the electricity running through the top. He held it tightly and asked, "Has anyone tried contacting Agent Rex or Agent or Dr. Holiday about what's going on?"
"Negative. All communications are jammed. But White Knight said that it won't take long for them to notice something's wrong." Kenwyn told him while they ran down the hallway to help with the other agents.
Many agents create a barrier to help cover them while they fired at any EVOs coming in sight. The EVOs were ranged from either small to largest species. Some of them seem easy to defeat. While others, that's not the case.
Aaron ducked down behind a wall of crates and told Kenwyn, "You need to send Agent Calan with a few agents to go cover Rosie."
"As long as she's in the safe room with the kids then nothing will happen!" Kenwyn said and started firing at any incoming EVOs in sight.
Aaron swing the club at a piranha EVO in the jaw. He jagged at it in its side to make sure it was electrocuted.
"Just do it! What if someone managed to get through and Rosie's the only last line of defense for those kids! I have faith in Rosie but she can't do this alone. I know she'll do whatever it takes to protect those kids! And you know she would do just about anything." Aaron yelled and started to ran away from the barrier and started attacking EVOs coming from left and right.
Kenwyn called out for Aaron to come back but quickly contact Calan.
"Captain Calan, we request that you head to Agent Holiday's location." Kenwyn said.
Calan responded, "I'm on my way but it might take me while to reach the safe room. We have our hands full on our end."
Aaron yelled to Kenwyn, "Also! Be on the look out the person responsible for this attack! Ava said that his name is Seth and that's all we know!"
"We're doing everything we can Agent Kitt! Focus on helping us here and we'll get back to Agent Holiday and the kids!" Kenwyn ordered while they focused on the fight.
Rosie peeked around the corner of the hallways to make sure no one followed her to the underground level. She made sure the coast was clear and hurried back to the steel doors and pressed a button.
"Agent Holiday requesting entry." Rosie said out loud, the door began to open as it was voice activated.
Rosie hurried inside and jogged downstairs to see another hallway with dozen of room in each side of the hallway.
"Kids, are you okay?" Rosie called out and the kids slowly walked out of one of the rooms.
Gracie teared up, "I'm scared!"
Rosie kneel down to Gracie's level and grabbed her shoulders gently. "Don't be afraid sweetie. You kids are safe here. Even if someone were to get in, I'll keep you kids safe."
Gracie immediately hugged Rosie as she tried not to tremble.
Rosie held the young girl and pat her back to comfort her.
Ava looked around and asked, "Rosie, why are there so many rooms here, if we only need one?"
"When we got word that we were working with kids here. Knight decided to build this lower level with a few more safe rooms. If they manage to enemy manages to get into here somehow. Having more than one room here will give us more time to escape if someone were to break down the door. One safe room at the end of the hallway is the one we're suppose to be in. It has a secret vent that can let us crawl through and get to another safer location. But nothing bad will happen while I'm here." Rosie explained and took the kids back to the safe room.
She opened the door with her assigned card and counted all the kids as they got in.
Ava, Blake, Debbie, Franklin, Gracie and Inca.
All six kids in total and they're safe for the time being. Rosie went to lock the door and made the kids stay near the vent. They waited for the signal from White Knight that it was okay to leave the safe room.
As they waited in silence, Gracie started to tense up and let out a whimper.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" Rosie whispered and held the trembling girl close.
Gracie cried, "They got in! They're outside the door!"
Rosie immediately got up and pulled out a small steel cylinder from her pocket. She pulled out the key at the top and it expand to a large staff.
Rosie cautiously approached the door and pressed her ear against the door.
There was silence. Nobody dared made a sound but Rosie could heard a distance demonic screeching from the other side of the hallway.
"Someone's trying to gain access to safe zone hallway." Rosie muttered and opened the door. She motioned for the kids to stay where they were.
After Rosie locked the door, she dashed down the hallway and glanced at the steel shut door. There was a few dents already on the door and the sound of banging and scratching was heard from the other side.
"That's not good." Rosie mumbled and hurried back to the safe room where the kids were.
She frantically pushed a few furniture to block the door and asked, "Gracie, can you tell how many people or EVOs are behind the doors?"
Gracie sniffled and wiped her tears when Debbie kept hugging her.
"I-I...I heard...two EVOs and...a man? He's singing a weird and scary song." Gracie whispered.
Ava stepped forward, "Rosie! Why can't we fight them off! We can use our powers to help you!"
Franklin crackled his knuckles and agreed, "Yeah! We can win this if we fight together!"
Blake nodded and grinned, "We can totally kick their butts to make them cry in shame!"
"Absolutely not!" Rosie raised her voice, which made the kids flinch.
They know Rosie was never one to yell at them, not even when they were to ever make a mistake with something. She was always patience and never raised her voice if she was ever frustrated with the kids.
Rosie sigh quietly and motioned for the kids to huddle close to her.
"Listen to me. You kids are only allowed to fight if anyone is trying to hurt you kids and I'm not able to fight. That's the only time you can use your powers. For self defense only. You're not fighting this fight unless it's absolutely necessary." Rosie sternly told them.
Debbie whispered, "But why? We can help you if we come up with a plan."
Rosie whispered, "You kids aren't here to learn how to fight. Your parents or legal guardians allowed you kids to come here to learn how to control your powers. They agreed that if you kids want to learn how to fight with your powers then they'll let you once you kids either turn turn sixteen or eighteen."
"But Uncle Rex was allowed to fight for Providence before he was sixteen!" Ava argued.
"That was a different time Ava. Uncle Rex was fighting a worldwide plague and was the only possible cure for the world. He didn't have much of a choice. Besides, if you kids get injured because we allowed you to fight, then your parents will suffer the most." Rosie told them but everyone jumped when they heard a loud bang from a distance.
Rosie motion for them to stay quiet but they heard a man singing down the hallway. The way he sing the song was slow, creepy and menacing.
"On the farm, ev'ry Friday. On the farm, it's rabbit pie day. So ev'ry Friday that ever comes along. I get up early and sing this little song." The man joyfully singed with a low tone.
Rosie opened the vent and motion for the kids to get in.
Debbie let the other kids go in first and looked at Ava and Blake. "We need to go." Debbie told them quietly.
"We're not leaving you!" Ava teared up and Rosie hugged them tightly.
Rosie promised, "You kids are my priority, I want you kids to be safe and away from here. I'll be okay. I promise, now go. I'll fight them off."
Ava and Blake looked up at Rosie, she smiled brightly at them and gave them the thumbs up. That was enough for them to believe her and they slowly crawled through the vents with Debbie behind them.
"Be careful Ms. Rosie." Debbie whispered as Rosie closed the vent and covered it with a box.
When Rosie heard the kids were a good distance, she let her guard down and looked terrified. She wasn't going to let the kids see that she was scared because they wouldn't dare leave her if that was the case.
"Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run." The man's voice was heard getting closer to the door.
Rosie started shaking but held her staff tightly and glared at the door.
"Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run." The man taunted when the loud screeching was heard behind the door.
'Do you think I'll ever need to fight someone if you and mom aren't around?' Rosie heard her younger self asked in her head. She remembered asking her father that question when he first started training her.
'It's better to be safe than sorry because I won't be around to keep you safe forever. With my training, you'll be safe if I'm ever gone, but luckily for you, I don't intend on going away anytime soon.' Six's exact words echoed in her head.
The EVOs were already banging and scratching at the door as they were trying to get inside.
Rosie covered her mouth as she tried not to scream and blinked back any tears that were threatening to come out.
However, when the door broke down, Rosie jumped and immediately got into her fighting stance.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang goes the farmer's gun. Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run, run." The man entered the room and grinned.
Rosie got a good look at the man. The one that stood out was the visible claw mark scar across his face.
"You must be Seth." Rosie glared and tried to keep the fear from being heard from her voice.
Seth grinned, "So you've heard of me? I have to say, they know how to treat a fellow like me."
Rosie narrowed his eyes at him and demanded, "What do you want here? Zane's not the one leading this attack, so you must have different motives here."
"Just hand over a few kids and I'll leave once I get what I want." Seth said and Rosie scoffed, "You really think I'll hand the kids over to you?"
"Well, I have other ways to convince you to give me what I want." Seth told her and motioned for the two EVOs to attack her.
Rosie could tell the difference between the two EVOs in the room. One look like a zombie deer with it's rib cage completely exposed and it's front legs being ridiculously long. Rosie cringed when it was standing on two legs and it's eyes were glowing. It's mouth was foaming and had droplets of blood.
The other EVO is similar to a porcupine. It was larger in size but it had a large buck teeth sticking out of its mouth. While on its paws, there were sharp claws sticking out. Rosie had to be careful with not only the claws but also the quills all over its body. The quills were large and thick, not something you want to be punctured on your body.
The deer EVO started charging at Rosie with its antlers ready to strike her. Rosie jumped and struck her staff on the antlers. She used all her strength to swing herself over the deer EVO. As she was in the air, Rosie flipped her wrists and send her shurikens flying towards the porcupine.
The porcupine got stuck on its right paw, its side and back leg. It screeched loudly in pain and cowered in the corner. But it send dozen of quills to Rosie's directions. Rosie landed on the ground and tried to avoid the attacks. She yelp in pain when some quills struck her right arm.
Rosie was tackled to the ground by the deer EVO with its antlers pinning her down.
"Don't eat her my pretty." Seth told the deer as he pat its exposed back.
Rosie bit her bottom lip as she tried to remain but the deer kept breathing against her back. If Rosie made a false move then she'll get bitten by its sharp teeth.
"I'll ask again, where are the children?" Seth asked with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
Rosie muttered, "Not telling you."
"Well, I guess I need to find a way to convince you." Seth said as he grabbed the back of Rosie's neck. Before he could try anything, they heard Ava yelled, "Leave my sister alone!"
Seth looked at the vent and Blake quickly ran to punch him in the stomach. There was a small explosion that hit Seth in the stomach and caused him to fall backwards. Seth looked down to see his front shirt has exploded but his stomach was perfectly life.
"Ooohh, that's an interesting power." Seth grinned and charged at the kids.
Ava looked at Seth and flinched when she noticed the familiar look in his eyes. Cold, lifeless and hungry for something.
Blake quickly went to block Ava and got his hand ready to fight.
"Leave them alone!" Rosie yelled and jerked her body forward to make the deer go flying towards Seth. They hit the wall and kept a large dent. Seth looked outraged and his eyes darken even more.
"Don't just stand there you useless thing! Do something!" Seth yelled at the porcupine as its starting to get firing its quills at Ava and Blake's direction. The kids froze in place, everything was moving too fast for them. However, they saw Rosie was running towards them.
She quickly pushed them out of harm's way and was struck with the quills.
Ava screamed in horror and covered her eyes. Blake stared at Rosie as she fell to the ground. She was struggling to get up and used her left hand to keep the kids back.
"R-Rosie?" Blake whispered and Rosie demanded, "Go back in the vents and get to safety. I told you, I got this."
Seth pushed the deer away and said, "You got guts kid, I'll give you that."
Rosie grinned in pain but kept the kids behind her. She looked grateful when she heard a familiar voice in her ear piece.
"Agent Holiday! Your parents are on the way to the safe room right now! Hang in there just a little longer!" Kenwyn told her on the other side.
That's it for Chapter 47! I'm very satisfied with this chapter because I spend all day typing this day. I couldn't stop myself because I was already in the zone and getting excited with how things were turning out! Not only that but it is now the longest chapter in the story.
Thank you for your review in the last chapter YellowAngela. I wish your son good luck with his application! :D and I would assume that Six wouldn't want to be there XD Don't worry, you'll see Zane a little more soon. :D and I'll get to working on Worlds Collide! X3
Since tomorrow and Tuesday the kids are staying home, I'm going to be busier than usual. So I'll do my best with posting one of my stories. Until then, stay safe out there and have a great night :3
