Another day has come for this story to once again have another chapter to be released and I've been busy with other things that I have to do. Well what can I say, it tough to try and get a chapter out. Hope that it's enjoyable for most of you that you'll like it.
Four days later
October 5, 09:50 hrs Zulu Time
Forward Operating Base Griffin, Afghanistan
Humphrey was just exhausted and sore after doing the HVT mission which was a bit complicated but they acquired all the intel that they needed. No orders have arrived just yet, but they were ready for what comes next. Even after assisting the 3rd Armored Battalion things did not slow down for him at all. They continued to advance further and clearing out two small towns occupied by the enemy which lasted the last three days before going to their assigned F.O.B for the next two days. Still more orders are expected to come and they are to advance towards a stronghold that is on the mountains of Nangarhar Province. A battle occurred their a long time ago and now the militia and the Rouge Russians are using the caves to keep their weapons caches their to use and transport down towards their friendlies and resupply and rearm their forces to keep them in the fight.
That wasn't what kept them worried, it's the armored vehicles that the militia have on stolen Russian armored vehicles and air vehicles. They have T-90s, T-72s, BTRs, Russian Hinds and transport Mil Mi8 Medium helicopters. Also stolen BM-21s, which are the worst thing the tank battalions would want to face.
Humphrey now in his assigned room for the next three days is lying down on his cot just reading a book that he likes. He's been reading it since his deployment, and it's a really good story. He hopes that things don't get out of hand before he leaves back to Jasper in mid-December to see Kate once again. A lot of battling still is occurring in the other parts of the country and now Allied forces are starting to get the upper hand thanks to the Russians assisting them.
Just yesterday they were expecting a ship of weapons that they were going to have and it's a big step for them as well. New pick out choices are the HK416D 14.5 in barrel, AK-12, AK-74u, AKM, IWI Galil ACE which can convert to different specific round calibers, CZ-805 Bren 14 inch barrel which can use 5.56 or 7.62 rounds, and the Steyr AUG with 1.5x telescopic.
New LMG choices as well came which are the RPD, RPK-74, PKP Pecheneg, and the U-100 MK5 with drum magazine. They weren't much but were good selections to use as well. Lastly were new sniper rifles, and Marksman rifles. The common ones that they were using were the M40A5, M24 bolt action, M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle, the SR-25, Beretta M82.50 Cal, McMillan TAC-50 bolt action, CHeyTac Intervention, M39 EMR, Remington MSR, SR-25, and the MK12 SPR. The new choices for the snipers are the FN Ballista, H&K PSG1, Dragunov Sniper Rifle, and the SVDK. A lot more options to choose now then before and it's quite the hardware that they got.
It's already starting to get colder each day, but they must continue forward no matter the cause. At least things are quiet but the sounds of gun firing can be heard miles away occurring in other parts of Afghanistan. Just then he heard on his coms that Ghost was on his way to FOB Griffen and he immediately gets up and gets his gear on and heads on out to assist the others for cover of the vehicle that's carrying their CO who has important information on what their planned attack is on the mountains of the Nangarhar Province.
Humphrey got to his position and got on a stationed .50 cal machine gun and began to look around as he see the humvee come towards the FOB and enter the gate. As the humvee came to a stop and Ghost immediately got out and headed towards the command building and Humphrey immediately followed him after getting off of the turret. This has to be very important of what their planned upcoming attack will be.
Humphrey followed Ghost and entered towards the command room and got the intel out and sets it down on the table while two other operatives began to get the video feed ready for the allies that are going to join on this mission. This was going to be a long tough battle that could take months to complete. Soon afterwards the cameras were now live and the other Generals were now on screen as they looked at Ghost.
The meeting began. "As many of you Generals know that we are to take up a big mission in the next three months. The enemy are using the old caves in the mountains of the Nangarhar Province. Many of us know of the battle that happened their long ago. The militia and the Rouge Russians are using the caves as weapon caches and are transferring them down to their friendlies which allows them to resupply and rearm them. That supply line can last the enemy for years and years. They only to stop that supply route is to make sure capture the caves and the weapons caches that are their which could turn into our favor. In order to get the mountains we must carve a path that will allow us to enter the mountains and take care of their supply line."
As the Generals looked at the intel from their screens they see that it must be done, however the defenses on the Nangarhar Province mountains are fortified very hard and only during the winter is where it's the most vulnerable the snow affects the area very badly and it can ruin the defenses while it has less enemy forces as well.
Ghost continues on. "It doesn't confirm that they have enemy armor on the mountains but they have armor down below the mountain watching the area. Enemy choppers are confirmed patrolling the skies of it. What we need is to prepare in the beginning of November and training throughout the entire month and through parts of December before we begin our assault. If we can get in the province then we will have that chance that we need to get into the caves and take over the area where we can make sure the weapon caches don't fall into anymore enemy hands. Orders for this mission are to begin in Mid January. Expect them fight hard and they will defend the caves to the death. We don't negotiate with terrorists at all. All hostiles in the mountains must be taken out at all cost. No enemy is to be left alive. Questions?" No response came at all which is perfect they know what must be done and Ghost spoke out. "Alright, continue on with your current progress and soon assign the regiments that will be selected for this mission. Dismissed."
The camera shut off and Ghost immediately told one of his orderly to send copies of this intel to the Generals of the allies that are stationed in Afghanistan so they can be ready as well. It's unknown for how long it'll take for them to complete it, but that will have to wait for now.
As of now they had more assignments to do and Humphrey has a task in hand to assist Michael on a sniper support mission which will happen in 48 hours near the front lines of combat. They're leaving the F.O.B tomorrow and will head to another F.O.B to plan out what they must do. They are to assist the U.S 2nd Battalion that are scheduled to pull off of the front lines for a few days to rest and resupply and get any of their wounded out as well.
Humphrey knows that he's going to be out to assist as well. It's not much but they have to assist their allies with any means necessary. He soon gets back to his cot and decides to gets some rest since they'll be leaving the F.O.B early in the morning.
15:00 hrs
Humphrey now fully relaxed is with a couple of other operatives getting some chow to eat. Soon they all went outside to look over the area as they can see a town which was not far from the FOB, the town which has been liberated from the enemy for nearly a month now has its civilians returning and things were going back to normal, but the civilians still know that danger is always near by, a counter attack could happen at any time.
The operatives all were talking to one another mostly telling stories of their past of what they did with friends or family. For Humphrey, it was different to him, he may not have parents when he was young but he did tell them of his past. At least he doesn't feel embarrassed to talk about it at all. The operatives were surprised but also amazed in how far he's come from his time being an orphan.
Afterwards they all began to prepare for tomorrow, for Humphrey he has a different assignment that is coming while the other operatives were on recon patrol for tomorrow. Being a sniper was something that Humphrey had minor issues with but always helps out no matter what.

Forward Operating Base Griffin, Afghanistan
Humphrey got out of bed and began to change into his uniform and getting his gear on as well. He got his leg holster on and choose the FN Five Seven. Now he joined up with Ghost as they both are getting on an armored Humvee with two other operatives that are their escorts and one of them will be manning the .50 cal machine gun turret that is mounted on their transport.
Their destination is Forward Operating Base Neptune, they will arrive just before the afternoon and it's only five miles from the front lines. It's going to be a long day no matter what, still orders and mission objectives have to be completed. They have a long day ahead of them and more to follow afterwards. Humphrey's partner Micheal a.k.a Archer is already at the F.O.B waiting for him. He'll select which sniper rifle he's going to use on this sniper support mission, at least he has experience on long range shots since he did taking sniper training as well.
Ghost drove out of the F.O.B and now is heading East towards the front lines.
Humphrey looked out the window and saw just pure desert and saw a town in the distance, he noticed that the town is a ghost town. Something happened to it a long time ago and people fear it. Rumors of the ghost town claim that the Rouge Russians killed everyone in the town, all civilians and kids, no one survived the massacre. This attack that they've done will not go without consequences on the enemy. The operatives will make them pay for the crimes they have committed.
12:55 hrs
Forward Operating Base Neptune
5 miles from front lines
Arriving at the base and entering, Humphrey saw Archer outside a trailer waiting for them. Both got out of the vehicle and they both went into the trailer and went to a table and saw the images of the locations where they are going to be stationed for sniper support.
As they looked at the images and saw multiple houses and buildings on the front lines, this gives them the greatest advantage that they need. Still they have to be very cautious no matter what, both Humphrey and Michael began to look at the selection of options sniper rifles that they can choose. Ghost told them to select their sniper rifles, a secondary primary assault rifle, and a sidearm. They both began to look at the list of choices that they got in front of them.
They both talked to one another at each choice that they have and figure which is going to be a good option to use since they need something fast so they decided to choose between the marksman rifles. They chose the M110 fixed stock with a 10x zoom rifle scope, silencer. including a bipod. They both went with the 20 round magazines as well. Secondary primary weapons they chose is the M4A1 Holographic with Foregrip and silencer. Side arm pick is the P226.
After choosing their load out they went outside to get some food since they haven't eating since the morning. Ghost told them to come back inside as soon as they get their chow since they need to pick their sniping position on and to strategize their support, and figure where they'll have their extraction point. They both got their chow and they both went back inside to meet up with Ghost.
Both Humphrey and Michael sit down while Ghost is on the other side of the table looking at the images and the intel that they received. Ghost began to talk to them. "Alright you two. I need both of you to choose the proper location to provide sniper support to the 2nd Battalion. Figure a proper extraction point once the battalion is pulled off the lines, you two need to move fast and get the hell out of there. I've been able to get air support so you can paint the targets to try and keep the hostiles back. A-10 Warthog will do strafing runs to give all the breathing room that you and the allies need. Make sure to call out your targets and alert the 2nd Battalion of where enemy positions are, and they will alert you if there position is overrun. Don't let the hostiles near them no matter what. You two will leave a 06:00 hours. Questions?" Neither responded since they both understood what they have to do. Ghost dismissed them and they continued to eat their meals.
20:56 hrs
It's been a long day for the both Michael and Humphrey as they are getting their gear prepped and ready for tomorrow. They got weather reports and it's going to be mostly dry and overcast, but cold. No matter what they have to complete this mission at all cost.
Nearly 2 hours later they both got their gear prepped ready to go including their weapons. They have a lot to do tomorrow and they had to get some rest since they are waking up early tomorrow. Both began to head to their assigned rooms to get some sleep since they don't have much time left.
October 6, 05:30 hrs Zulu Time
Forward Operating Base Neptune, Afghanistan
Five miles from Front lines
Humphrey and Micheal now geared up and ready to go since they have just a bit time left before heading out. They both were now finishing up drinking their hot coffee and eating their breakfast.
Afterwards they looked over the plan that they made earlier and found several sniping positions and found one that works for both of them which will keep them both hidden from the enemy. Ghost would spectate them from a recon drone and alert of any possible hostile flanks.
06:00 hrs
Both of them are ready and now they must do what needs to be done. The two operatives went out and enter their transportation and the driver took them to there destination.
Front Lines
Humphrey contacted the CO of the U.S Army 2nd Battalion. "King Cobra Actual this is Anvil 6, we are here to provided support to get your men off the front lines. Be advised, enemy forces are coming towards you with strength and numbers they're trying to take you out." King Cobra responds. "Roger that Anvil 6 we see them coming. A relief is on its way, they're expected to arrive at 16:00 hours. Give us all the sniper support that you can give and don't give hostiles any breathing room to get close to us. Any air support?" Humphrey responds. "ETA on air support is unknown, I'll keep you posted when they contact me. Moving to position. Out." Both Humphrey and Micheal exit the vehicle and went to there sniping position.
Arriving at the building which has access to the rooftops. They both use the windows and making sure that the room is dark to make it impossible for the enemy to see them from where they are.
They set up their marksman rifles on the window they picked and waited.
90 minutes later
Humphrey who was sitting down with his back on the wall just resting until he got called from Michael. "Sir, enemy forces are comin' in." Humphrey got up and got to his rifle and they both looked towards the battlefield.
Enemy contacts began their assault and they brought techincals, transport truck a.k.a the deuce and a half, and tanks. They listened in on the comms of the 2nd Battalion and they're already on alert and in position. They both would contact them and let them know of the enemy positions and if they're trying to flank them.
Hostile began their attack and the battle has now began. Humphrey and Michael both aimed their reticle on hostiles that they saw in their line of sight and using the mil-dot for range and bullet drop distance. They already adjust the zero distance to 400 yards since they are out of enemy sight no matter what, both of them started to do tactical breathing to keep low heart rates and their shots very accurate.
They began to open fire on the hostiles and took out targets as they approached the 2nd Battalion. They both knew that head shots were impossible on moving targets so center mass is more of a better choice.
12:00 hrs
Six hours into the fire fight and things have calmed down for now, but it's not over, not by a long shot. They both have taken out nearly 50 hostiles with their support. Still no word on air support yet, but a relief unit is on it's way. They are to arrive at around 16:00 hours. Both were now eating some chow that they brought to make as they were on break for now. It's a waiting game as they had to wait for the hostiles to attack again. They so far lost 5 techincals and yet to use their tanks. Casualties are high on their side while the 2nd Battalion pull their wounded off the front lines getting Medical teams to get their wounded out.
13:00 hrs
Michael spoke while watching the area. "Sir, we got comp'ny comin'. Hostiles comin' in usin' techincals again, but they're bringin' up tha tanks. We still have no word on air support. We're runnin' out of time 'ere." Humphrey responds as he gets on his rifle. "Don't doubt anything Archer. Air support is coming. We'll hold these guys off no matter the cause. They'll not get to our allies no matter what. Open fire, pick your targets." Micheal responds. "Yes sir."
Both of them began to pick targets at 400 yards out still. Soon Michael saw 15 plus foot-mobiles going right and alerts the CO. "King Cobra this is Anvil 5, hostiles are tryin' ta do a right flank on yer men. Ah'll try ta thin 'em out, but Ah won't be able to get all of 'em. Do ya copy?" King Cobra responds. "Solid copy Anvil 5, I got two teams on route now the right flank to push them back. Out."
Michael began to engage hostiles that are trying to flank right on their friendlies. Michael engaged them from 300 yards out after readjusting his scope since they're a bit closer. Hostiles on the right flank were caught in sniper fire and they began to make a run for cover as two teams of the 2nd Battalion arrived on the right flank in time. Michael managed to get 9 hostiles while the two allied teams cleaned up the rest. One of the squad leaders contacted Michael. "Anvil 5, this is Echo 2-1. We got these hostiles for you. My team and Echo 2-5 will stronghold the right flank." Michael responds. "Solid copy, 2-1. Thank ya kindly fer gettin' tha right flank. Ah'll contact ya if more hostiles try ta use tha right flank. Out."
Michael returned back to the window that overlooks the main assault force. Humphrey managed to get 10 more hostiles taken out, but the Tanks began to look for them and then they receive a call. "Anvil Team this is Actual. I just received word about air support and they are on it's way towards your position. E.T.A 5 minutes. I've already alerted the 2nd Battalion to place their IR beacon to mark there position. A-10 Warthog call sign Black Eagle 3-6. Hold on a little longer. Out." With Ghost's word that gave them relieve that air support is coming to help them Humphrey now needed to get the IR beacon in place to mark their position.
They both continued to engage hostiles and five minutes later Humphrey gets a contact from the pilot. "Anvil 6 this is Black Eagle 3-6 in your air space and at your service ready to rain fire on hostiles, I have positive ID on your position and the 2nd Battalion. Standing by for targets. Over." Humphrey responds. "Solid copy 3-6. Coordinates are as followed Oscar Tango Whisky Alpha 399521, enemy infantry and armor in the area. Fire for effect, over." The pilot complies with the target position. "Rodger that. Throwing everything I have. Sit back and watch."
The A-10 Warthog began to do strafing runs on the hostiles and on the vehicles. Humphrey and Michael stopped engaging hostiles and saw the damage that the A-10 began to do to the enemy. Tanks and vehicles being destroyed and they didn't have a chance at all. Hostiles began to pull back as the A-10 rain fire on them.
15:00 hrs
With only an hour until the 2nd Battalion will be pulled off the front lines. Black Eagle returned to base to the refuel and rearm again after doing some strafing runs.
Humphrey and Michael were sitting down and just getting the rest that they need since they have almost an hour before they can head to their extraction point. Just that they have to hold there position for the last hour as hostiles were now much weaker then before. They lost all of their tanks due to the A-10 doing strafing runs. While relaxing, Humphrey got contacted from Ghost. "Anvil 6, I just received a distress call. It's all the way from Paris France. I'll talk to you both at the extraction point. Just hold on for a bit longer. Out."
What was the distress call about? They'll figure that out later on today when they get to the chopper.
16:00 hrs
A relief unit arrives and contacts the 2nd Battalion CO letting them know that they arrived and ready to change positions so they can rest up and resupply. The relief unit is the U.S 4th Infantry/Tank Regiment. Humphrey immediately contacted the chopper. "Robin 2-2 this is Anvil 6, be advised we have completed our mission and are moving to Extraction point Delta South West of our position. ETA 5 minutes. Out." Both him and Michael gathered their rifles and switched to their M4A1 assault rifles and immediately left the building.
Both operatives already going South West to a big opening that's near the front lines but covered up as well so the enemy can't see them.
Arriving at the LZ 5 minutes later they both see the chopper coming in to land and they made sure that no one followed them at all to catch them by surprise. The chopper landed and the hatch door opened and they saw Ghost and both of them jump aboard. Once in Ghost signaled the pilot to get them out of the area and the pilot lifted the chopper off and flew towards it's next destination which is an airfield.
Ghost spoke to both of them. "I received a distress call in France. Hostage rescue mission and they called me to bring two of my men to assist Delta Force on the mission to rescue hostages and two military Generals that are being held by the militia. Your mission is to assist Delta team as they get the hostages while the two of you provide sniper support to them on specific locations. Enemy presence will be their as well. All hostiles must be taken out at all cost leave none alive. Clear?" Both of them nodded and began to wonder where in France they were going.
Their question would soon be answered when they arrive to the area.
Another chapter done and it's taken a while for me to get it done. Just been dealing with the California Fires here at least my town wasn't effected by the fire, but it took out the town that is on the ridge in Butte County known as Paradise. At least I'm okay but this has been very hard to all of those effect by the fires. I'm still not going to stop doing my stories until I get these done. I'll be back when I can to update again keep an eye out. Signing off.
