Session 98

Clear as Crystal

Polly took a deep breath.

Out of all places she could find herself in, a tattoo parlor seemed low on that list. Especially one that let large birds in.

"Hey!" Adarnamon remarked. "How rude. Earlier, I destroyed a large star-shaped crystal."

"Star-shaped crystal?" Polly answered as a headache seemed to come over her. "Ugh…"

"Are you alright?" Adarnamon inquired as she walked over, only to watch her 'companion' crumble to the ground. Following that, a cloud of smoke appeared…

And out popped a chibi version of Polly.

"I feel like I'm missing something here." Adarnamon remarked as she took the interior in, all while making she was not mounted by the miniature martial artist.

The designers of this place had gone with a minimalist approach for this particular room, going with plain white walls with a nearly similar floor. The chairs you see in those dentist offices lined the left wall, with the right being used as a setup for applying some sort of liquid to something. Though, that didn't seem to explain why it all had some sort of toxic smell to it.

"Anything to add Polly?" she inquired and found Polly taking a selfie.

"I wonder what Fatemon will think of this!" the monk magi announced as she sent the photo. "Do you want one Adarnamon?"

"No thanks?"

Polly gave her a confused glance and then attempted to mount her. This time, Adarnamon let her. It would at least give her some control in this situation.

"So do you remember anything about this 'star crystal' thing?" the bird inquired. "Outside of being star-shaped and a crystal of some sort."

Silence fell over the two as they stood there, as if waiting was their best option at the moment.

"It was magical and stuff." Polly answered as Adarnamon debated facepalming. "It resulted in a big adventure that was erased from everyone's memory?"

Adarnamon's facepalm turned into a confused glance, unsure of what she was even talking about. The author found himself in a similar state, though that could be the result of something else.

"Care to elaborate?" Adarnamon elaborated as a door neither noticed before appeared and the bird digimon opened it. Polly then gave a nod and cleared her throat…

.

This is whole mess began a little after they returned the digital world.

After saying a prayer for those who lost their lives oh so long ago, they crossed the sea and returned to the mainland.

"So where exactly are we going?" Elena inquired and focused her vision on Vanessa.

"To my friend's plantation." Vanessa answered as she got back into her vehicle. "Any plans for when you guys get there?"

Awkward silence fell over the members of Delta. They hadn't really taken the time to debate such a thing. Usually, one thing led to another and left little to actually slow down and smell the roses.

"Relax, maybe." Alice responded, only for Suiko to poke her head out. "Anything to add?"
*Not really.* Suiko remarked and returned to her master's body.

The next couple miles passed by quite quickly, though that could just be the result of having far more options now than they did before.

And then something caught their gazes, with Polly of all people being the first to point it out and make it to the object in question. The rest followed suit, gathering around the mystery object. It was a star-shaped crystal, just floating in the air.

"Uh… Care to explain what your colleagues did this time, Fatemon?" Aaron remarked and got a punch from Polly. "Sorry. That was rude of me."

"No, it's alright." Fatemon answered and took a cautious step towards the rock. "It's magical in origin, but I don't recognize such a stone being in Mahora's possession."

"Standard Order Protocol back then was to steal the object along with any record." Vanessa responded and watched Aaron write it down. "Of course, when your criteria for an object can also include animals and humanoids, such a precaution is a whole lot harder."

Her gaze focused on both Fatemon and Chacha, who gave a shrug in return. What followed, was everyone drawing straws to decide who would touch it. After a few minutes of pulling, it was Polly who was the 'winner'. If one could call it that.

So she approached the crystal and tapped it. In retrospect, that may have not been the best idea.

Thick smoke then engulfed the area, forcing those caught within it to attempt to seek shelter in one of the two vehicles on hand. But not even that seemed to make much of a difference in their situation.

When whatever was obscuring their vision finally did fade away, everything seemed to be a little bigger than most of the group remembered.

"Ugh…" Elena thought and got up, only to find chibi versions of Alice and Suiko laying there. "Wakey wakey!"

After that didn't work, she just jumped on top of them. This was surprisingly more effective method, even if she did find herself currently being held by her girlfriend.

"I'll give you one kiss and that's it." Alice answered and carefully pulled Elena in as Suiko watched on. "Better?"

The gale corsair gave a nod and was set back down, only to switch into her hybrid form.

*It seems that you're getting the royal treatment, sis.* Suiko joked as Alice's face glowed a bright shade of pink. "I'm guessing you're the princess in this situation?"

"Princess?"

After Alice said that, Suiko seemed to perk up and began jumping up and down.

"Yeah!" her sister continued until Alice finally did mount the chibi-sized bird wyvern thing and made her way to the front of the armored vehicle. There, a chibi Polly and Joey were doing a similar thing. Only here, they were getting piggyback rides from Fatemon and Issacmon respectively.

"Can't you shift your weight around?" Fatemon complained as his partner shifted her form slightly and he fell over. "That's not what I meant! Chacha do you thi- Fuck."

A chibi version of Chacha then walked up, wearing a makeshift giraffe costume of all things.

"And I was hoping for a bat costume." Chacha muttered and zoomed past them. "Oh well."

Aaron and Vanessa brought up the rear, having somehow managed to escape the effects of the mist.

"Well this is just wonderful." Aaron groaned as Vanessa let out a laugh. "It's just like old times, isn't it?"

"But without the weird creatures, magical powers and general weirdness." Vanessa remarked and cracked a smile. "Though, I suspect we're both rusty on that front."

They followed their friends to the front, where EMT and the other digimon partners awaited.

"Good. At least not everyone was affected." the troll officer whispered as he picked Chibi Chacha up. "Though that still doesn't explain why you have a giraffe costume."

The other chibi humans gave a shrug and jumped off their rides. Afterwards, they turned towards their partners and did the natural thing in this situation. Play with them, of course.

"Let go of me!" Adarnamon screamed as Elena pulled at her partner's feathers. "Do you want me to scream at you?"

Elena gave a nod and clapped for some reason.

Seven Song!

A loud screech echoed through the cabin, forced most of Delta to cover their ears and/or leaving the room. Of course, the chibi's seem relatively unfazed by that.

"Those are not toys!" Gobblemon announced as he pushed himself in between Alice and Suiko, who looked to be just about ready to have a gunfight. "Yokozamon, do you think you can help me confiscate their weapons?"

Yokozamon gave a nod and attempted to pull the girl's guns away, which resulted in him getting shot twice. It didn't really faze him though.

"Look Issacmon, I'm going to bring forth a demon!" Joey announced and began to draw a chalk circle, only for Gentleman to rub it out.

"Mr Joey, it is unwise to draw chalk circles in such a place." Gentleman explained and grabbed the chalk away from his master. "Maybe we can pick this up at a later time."

Everyone then turned their attention to the last trio, where Polly and Chacha were currently attempting to pull Fatemon's hood off. He was taking it with the grace of a harem mage.

"Enough, girls!" Fatemon shouted and pulled them off of him. "If you don't stop now, there will be homework!"

"We're in hundred and seventh grade, so you can't give us homework." Chacha announced as she puffed her chest out. "Or is hundred and ninth?"

"Whatever." Polly added as she jumped back onto Fatemon, only for the crystal to appear. "Oh, hi there crystal!"

The crystal answered that by a transforming into what appeared to a light blue figure of sorts. What followed was quite a short battle that was by all accounts forgettable and just plain silly. The only way it could've been more silly was actually remembering the whole mess and believing it to be unimportant delusion that result when one

Back in the real world, our heroes had managed to make their way down a hallway and into a unmarked room. At this point, the whole building gave way to the usual order color scheme. White and gold,

"Figures." Adarnamon remarked and made a glance towards Polly. While the monk magi had not quite reverted back yet, she was starting to gain some rational control. "Are you certain that was the same crystal as one I found in that abandoned building?"

"It's unlikely, but possible." Polly answered as she got off and made her way towards the door. Adarnamon followed right behind, making sure to not let Polly out of her sight. Thankfully, the room up ahead seemed to be the last one.

The two casually opened it up and took in the room.

Mangled bodies had been piled up in the middle of the room, their deaths the result of someone twisting a sword of some sort through their stomachs. Labeled glass buckets of ink sat on a pair of opposing shelves, numbering at least ten. Of course, that didn't seem to account for the blood spilled and a single clipboard sitting in front of the pile.

The duo made their way over to the clipboard as they attempted to ignore the smell of all the bodies.

Marked Ones Sign-out

Name - - - Date - - Tattoo - - Official

Sachiko - 12/31/08 -'Mimi' - 'D. Motomiya'

"Uh… I feel like this was supposed to be meaningful and all, but this just feels out of place." Adarnamon whispered as she handed it over to Polly to look at. Polly gave it a quick glance and shrugged.

"Whatever it is, someone thought it mattered for us to see." she answered and snapped a photo. "If nothing else, we can send it to Aaron and Officer EMT to see if they knows anything."

Adarnamon gave a nod and watched Polly send it off, not at all noticing the monk magi unintentionally click Elena on her contact list. An honest mistake, but could be useful at a later date.

Afterwards, the 'star crystal' thing appeared again as Polly returned to normal.

"Was it you that wanted to show us this?" she called out, but got no answer. "Is there any reason that you came back here?"

The figure pointed towards the labels, putting a finger across her throat as its body began to sag. Its final action was to point at Polly and shake her head.

"Uh… thanks?" Polly answered as she returned to normal. "Phew."

Their gazes focused to the labels, which was stuff like 'Mimi', 'Matt', 'Joe' and a couple other familiar-sounding names to viewers out there. After, it shifted to a door that had popped in from somewhere. They carefully made their way to it and headed through.

On the other side, Chacha and OfficerEMT waited.

"Hi." both girls greeted and took a seat on the couch.

"Good to see you're both alright." EMT answered back and checked his phone. "I'm guessing that photo was from you?"

"Yep." Polly answered. "Do you know anything about the person listed there?"

Officer EMT took a deep breath.

"Yeah." EMT whispered. "It rings some bells, but I doubt you'll be able to go any further with it."

"What do you mean?"

"He's been dead for a long time." the police officer whispered and took a deep breath. "One of the 'digidestined', killed by his own partner. Even if he didn't deserve such a fate, there had to be "

Silence fell over the group and the conversation ended.

Notes:

Well this didn't go the way I plan. Oh well.

Formatting on the sheet was a bit weird, mostly due to how FFnet formats '-' for some reason.

.

Next time: Gentleman and Yokozamon in some sort of weird situation. What? I have to get this right eventually...
