Chapter 4 - East Meets West

As Mr. Aizawa and the strange blonde man approached the American students, Matthew walked towards Aizawa and said in angry tone, "That was a rotten trick, Mr. Aizawa! What were you trying to do, kill us?!"

"It was a… necessary deception…" Aizawa replied, a snarky smile on his face. "I had to leave in order to see how skilled you were on your own, and to see how you do while tired."

"And how did we do?" asked Milo, his tone curious.

"Impressive." The strange blonde man replied, stepping forward. "The six of you showed teamwork, general concern for each other, and you all handled your quirks with the same style as a pro would. You've all proven to be very skilled."

"Uh, thanks… I guess…" Matthew spoke uneasily, before turning to Sunshine, who was standing beside him, and quietly asking, "Who's the skeleton?"

"Dude, that's All Might!" Sunshine replied, her voice quiet yet fierce sounding.

"What? That's All Might?"

"Yeah, in his shrunken form. The story was all over the news a couple of months ago; don't you remember?"

"You know me; I don't watch the news. It's all fake, made to make good people look bad, and bad people look like the heroes."

When the two of them looked back at All Might and Aizawa, who were watching them have their whispered conversation, they stopped and Matthew said aloud, "Uh, my friend here has told me that you're All Might, the Symbol of Peace. It's honor to meet you."

"Likewise." All Might replied, extending his hand for Matthew to shake. "I want to give a personal welcome from U.A, to you new students. I'm very interested in seeing how well the six of you do this year."

"Thank you. My name is Matthew Noble. The feral kid is Joshua Graham, the slime kid is Milo Shiloh, the cowboy is Murdock Jenkins, the golden eyed girl is Sunshine DeMorris, and the girl with the glasses is Annabelle Walters. We hail from Justice High, the number one hero school in the USA."

"I've heard of that school. Considering how well the six of you work together, their hero course must be impressive."

"Yeah, but nothing beats U.A's hero course." said Matthew. "Speaking of which, are we going to meet our classmates anytime soon?"

"Yes, you are." Aizawa replied. "They have gone to get out of their hero costumes and to freshen up a bit, and then they'll be meeting you. As for you six, you'll be waiting for them in the room for Class 1-A. After you get to meet them, we'll all head back to the dorms for the rest of the afternoon, after which you can do what you want. Now, in case you all have something better to do, back to the bus."

The gate doors opened, and the six made their way back to where the bus was still waiting for them. They were tired, and somewhat banged up, from the battle, so they all moved slowly. Aizawa followed, and All Might went back to stay with Class 1-A. After the six and Aizawa got onto the bus, the gate doors closed and the bus drove away, back to U.A.

After a few minutes of driving, the bus arrived back at U.A. Aizawa and the six got out, and they walked into the building, and to the classroom of Class 1-A.

As soon as they entered the classroom, Aizawa said, "Your desks will be added in here tomorrow morning. As for now, find a seat and rest your bodies. The students will be along shortly, and I'll take a nap while you introduce yourselves to them."

After he said this, he produced a yellow sleeping bag from under his desk, got in it, zipped it up, and fell to the floor. The American students looked at him and then at each other, all with quizzical looks on their faces. After deciding that they probably shouldn't question Aizawa's teaching methods, the six found some desks and sat in a circle.

"I wonder what Class 1-A is going to be like…" Sunshine spoke thoughtfully.

"Probably going to be a bunch of jerks…" Joshua muttered, his head on the desk.

"Don't say that; that's negative!" Milo replied, playfully punching Joshua in the arm. "You gotta think positive! Who knows? They might really nice and we're judging them!"

"They're probably going to judge us…"

"No they won't! You'll see, Joshua; things are going to be great!"

"Well, you're certainly excited to meet them." Matthew spoke, his tone humorous. "And here I was thinking you would be tired from the fight we just had."

"Hey, I like meeting new people." Milo replied with a smile. "It's fun to see the kind of quirks they have, and to get to know them."

"Cool. I wonder what their reaction is going to be when they found out I'm quirkless."

"I got a funny idea for that." Murdock spoke up. "When they ask you what your quirk is, tell them to guess. When they can't figure it out, reveal it to them and see the reactions on their faces."

"Hey, good idea." Matthew chuckled. "That'll surprise them…"

"Yeah… Personally, I can't wait to meet Class 1-A. Especially if there are pretty girls in this class…"

"And are you going to turn on your southern charms for them, Murdock?" Annabelle asked with a giggle.

"Hey, my charms are nothing to giggle at, Annabelle." Murdock replied, his tone jokingly offended. "Besides, I do good with the ladies. I'm kind, courteous, and I'm a gentleman."

"Not to mention you smell like you just roped a bunch of cattle, hick." Joshua muttered, his head still laying on the desk.

Murdock shot him a look when he said that, and replied, "You ever think about getting a girl, Joshua?"

"No." Joshua muttered in reply. "I don't need somebody…"

"Everybody needs somebody. Even you, Joshua." Milo replied.

He then shot a look at Murdock, to which they both grinned in a sneaky way. And then, from out of nowhere, they both stood up and sang out in unison:

Everybody needs somebody,

Everybody needs somebody to love.

Someone to love,

Someone to kiss,

Someone to miss,

Someone to-

"Will you quit singing?" Aizawa asked in a dull tone, suddenly sitting up and causing Milo and Murdock to stop. "Not only do the two of you sound terrible, but you're interrupting my nap."

"Sorry…" Milo replied in a hushed tone, both he and Murdock turning red and sitting down.

"Judging from his opinion, I don't think the two of you are going to make it to 'Japanese Idol'." Matthew laughed, causing the girls to follow in laughter.

Suddenly, the door to Class 1-A opened, and all of them stopped chatting and turned to look at the door. The first group of kids to enter was a boy with spiky red hair, a boy with black hair and weird arms, a cute girl with pink hair, pink skin and black eyes, a boy with orange hair that had a black streak in it, and a grumpy looking boy with blonde hair. They were all wearing the standard U.A school uniform: grey blazer, white dress shirt, red tie, black dress pants (black dress skirt for the girls), and brown dress shoes.

They were all chatting with each other, except for the blonde boy, who looked like he was angry at the whole world. The chatting stopped, however, when the red haired kid saw the American students and announced, "Hey, it's the new guys!"

The group, minus the blonde boy, came over to where Milo and Murdock were sitting. Milo and Murdock turned around to face them, and were greeted by their excited faces. The red haired kid spoke excitedly and said, "You guys were awesome out there! You totally demolished those robots!"

"Thanks!" Milo replied with a grin. "It's nice of you to say that!"

"You guys looked like you knew what you were doing out there!" The black haired boy added. "Have you guys worked together before?"

"More or less, my friend!" Murdock spoke up this time.

"You did awesome out there! Your slime quirk was so cool!" The pink girl cheered, a wide smile on his face.

Milo, who was instantly taken by the pink girl, as he thought she was the most adorable girl he'd ever seen, replied in a kind tone, "Thank you, that's very nice of you."

"Oh boy." the orange haired boy spoke, his tone sounding mildly amused. "Looks like a crush is forming."

"I'm Eijiro Kirishima!" The red haired boy announced. "I think you guys will fit right in with us!"

"Hi, I'm Hanta Sero!" The black haired boy spoke.

"I'm Mina Ashido!" The pink girl announced, her voice still cheerful. "And I just gotta say, your slime quirk was like whoa!"

"Thank you." Milo replied. "My name's Milo Shiloh. And let me just say, you are very adorable."

"Aww, thanks!" Ashido giggled, much to amusement of Murdock, Kirishima, and Sero, and much to the chagrin of the orange haired boy.

"How come this guy proves to be good with girls?" The orange haired boy thought to himself, his tone rather dull.

"So, partner, what's your name?" Murdock asked, breaking the orange haired boy out of his thoughts.

"Denki Kaminari." The orange haired boy replied. "Who are you, and why do you talk funny?"

"The name's Murdock Jenkins, and the reason I talk funny is cause I'm not from around these parts." Murdock replied. "Actually, I'm from the southern parts of the U.S, and everybody down there has an accent. Hence the reason I sound funny to you."

"Oh. Is that also the reason why you have that goofy looking hat?"

"Hey, this hat is cool, man!" Murdock spoke, adjusting his cowboy hat with two hands. "Girls like hats like these!"

"Really?" Kaminari asked, interested in hearing about something that girls like. "Girls really like hats like that?"

"Yeah, it gives you a sort of charm that most guys don't have."

Meanwhile, as they were talking and chatting with each other, Matthew was watching with an amused look on his face. He knew that Joshua was wrong; they hadn't judged them, but had given them approval. It was nice to see that they were going to get along with their new classmates.

"Hey!" An angry voice growled, snapping Matthew out of his thoughts.

Matthew turned and saw the blonde hair boy staring at him, the look on his face like he positively hated him. However, Matthew was not phased by this; being quirkless, he had encountered many people like this in his life, and he knew how to deal with them.

"What?" Matthew asked, his tone undeterred.

"You're at my desk!" The blonde boy growled again.

"So?"

"I don't like your butt in my seat!"

"I don't like your attitude in my face, jerk."

The blonde hair boy slammed his hand on the table, causing everybody to stop chattering and look at him.

"Get… out… of… my… seat…" The boy seethed, his teeth gritted together.

Matthew, with a stare of utter contempt, got up and growled, "I guess every barrel has its bad apple…"

He then walked away, and the blonde hair boy sat down at his desk, the look of anger still on his face. The chatting continued as Matthew, with his own look of contempt on his face, walked away. He walked to the other end of the room, until he was a good distance away from the blonde hair kid. After he walked away from him, a kind voice asked, "Are you okay?"

Matthew turned and met the owner of the voice; a kid with green hair, green eyes, and freckles on his face. Matthew's expression softened and he said, "Yeah, I'm good. What's the deal with that blonde kid?"

"That's Kacchan." The green haired kid replied, his tone solemn. "We used to be friends when we were little, and even then he was like that."

"Really? You were friends with that guy?"

"Yeah…" The green hair kid replied, before getting flustered and saying, "Oh sorry! I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Izuku Midoriya! It's an honor to have you in our class!"

Matthew smiled, extended his hand from Midoriya to shake, and said, "Matthew Noble; pleased to meet you."

As for Sunshine and Annabelle, they were watching the students interact with Milo and Murdock, when they interrupted by three girls. One girl was tall and had black hair tied into a ponytail, another girl was shorter and had brown hair that was cut into a bob cut, and the last girl had dark green hair and was somewhat hunched.

"Hi!" The girl with the brown hair said cheerfully. "I'm Ochaco Uraraka!"

"Tsuyu Asui." The green haired girl spoke, her voice somewhat nasally sounding. "But my friends call me Tsu."

"My name is Momo Yaoyaorozu." The tall, black haired girl spoke, her tone polite and courteous. "We wanted to personally welcome you two to Class 1-A."

"Thank you; that's very kind of you." Sunshine replied. "My name is Sunshine DeMorris."

"Annabelle Walters." Annabelle spoke up. "You can call me Anna, if you want."

"Pleasure." Yaoyaorozu replied. "We were watching the six of you when you fought against those robots, and you all were very impressive. Tell me, is the training at your school the same as at U.A?"

"Sort of." Sunshine spoke. "Only difference is that they notify us when they're about to pull something like that."

"Yeah, that's Mr. Aizawa for you." Asui spoke, putting her finger to her chin. "He does that a lot."

"Is he always like that?" Annabelle asked.

"You should've seen him on our first day; he lied and told us that whoever fell into last place during the fitness exam would get expelled!" Uraraka spoke, her tone excited. "It's a good thing he was lying, cause Deku ended up in last place!"

"Which one's Deku?" Sunshine asked, looking around.

"Him." Ochaco replied, pointing to where Midoriya and Matthew were talking. "His real name is Izuku Midoriya, but he likes going by Deku. I think it sounds cute!"

"And you like him?"

When Sunshine asked that, Uraraka became flustered and said, "What?! Like him?! I mean, yeah I like him! But not like 'LIKE' him! I mean, we're friends, that's all! He's just-"

"Easy; I was just asking." Sunshine replied, putting her hands up defensively. "Still, I think the two of you would be a cute couple!"

Uraraka became flustered again, which caused Sunshine and Annabelle to laugh in a kind way. Even Yaoyaorozu was smiling a little bit at Uraraka's general reaction. As for Asui, she put her hand on Uraraka's shoulder to calm her down.

Joshua, at the moment, was in a deep sleep on the desk. He was tired from the traveling, and even more so from the improvised battle that he and his friends had to go through. Actually, Joshua didn't think of the other students as his friends; not only was he a new student who was only just transferred to Justice High a week before they were shipped off to Japan, but he felt as if he didn't need anybody. He felt that having friends only got in the way of what he wanted, so he didn't bother to put himself out for making friends with anybody.

"Hey…" a cool, unenthusiastic female voice spoke. "Hey… wake up… you're in my seat…"

Joshua groaned and muttered drowsily, "This dude is knocked out… please leave your name and number and a brief message… and I'll get back to you as soon as…"

He then went back to sleep. Suddenly, he felt something like a taser hit his neck, and he felt his body jerk around violently and painfully! He let out several whoops and howls of pain as he flew into the air and came crashing back down, falling out of his seat! This caused everybody's attention to be turned to Joshua, who was a little bit dazed from whatever made him do that.

Angrily, Joshua jumped and roared, "You do that to me again and I'll-"

He then paused; the person who did that to him was a girl. She was petite, and she had short, dark purple hair, fair skin, and dark looking eyes. The most interesting trait about her was that she had earphone jacks hanging from her earlobes, which were long, thin, and cord-like. The clothing she wore was the standard U.A school uniform, only she wore a waistcoat instead of the blazer.

Joshua calmed himself down and said in a somewhat shy tone, "Uh… sorry about that… here- here's your seat and desk… I- I didn't know they belonged to you…"

He then looked and saw that there was a little bit of spit from when he was sleeping on the desk, and he quickly and embarrassingly began wiping it away. After he was done, he walked away, his face red as a beet. The girl, who stayed cool and collected throughout the encounter, sat down at her desk.

Joshua walked over to where Matthew was chatting with a green-haired kid. Matthew, upon seeing Joshua, said, "Hey Josh, welcome back to the land of the living. Meet Izuku Midoriya, student of Class 1-A. We were just talking and-"

"Who is she?" asked Joshua, not even bothering with Matthew.

"Who?" asked Midoriya.

"The girl with the weird earlobes." Joshua replied, looking at the dark-purple haired girl. "Who is she?"

"Her?" Midoriya asked again, seeing who he was talking about. "She's Kyoka Jiro. Her quirk is called 'Earphone Jack', which are those jacks hanging from her earlobes."

"Jiro…" Joshua said quietly, studying her appearance. She was rather pretty looking, despite her attitude and her general disposition being kind of dark. Maybe it was the way she looked, or the way she acted, or something about her. Either way, Joshua was starting to feel something in the pit of his stomach when he looked at her; it felt nervous, but a good kind of nervous.

Then again, he could've just been hungry…

Author's Notes: The song that Murdock and Milo sing out together is "Everybody needs Somebody" from The Blues Brothers. I might add more singing along the way, considering the fact that Joshua listens to music, and Jiro is a musician. Either way, we shall see.
