Chapter 11 - Second Meeting
The movie Murdock chose was The Magnificent Seven. Considering they were in Japan and the movie was actually based off the Japanese classic Seven Samurai, he thought it would be a good movie to show to Class 1-A. However, they watched the movie in Japanese with English subtitles, just so their Japanese speaking classmates could understand.
Murdock sat on the floor in front of Todoroki and Yaoyaorozu, who were sitting behind him on the couch. There, he gave his own personal commentary about the movie, which he had to do in a hushed tone after everybody kept shushing him. Matthew was sitting on the couch with Kirishima and Bakugo, and Annabelle sat with Asui and Hagakure. Hagakure was apparently falling in love with most of the handsome cowboys in the movie, which caused Annabelle to quietly chuckle at her fascination with them.
Milo sat on the couch with Ashido, who allowed herself to be taken in his arms. To say the least, Milo was starting to fall in love with the pink girl with black eyes and yellow horns, and he was definitely glad that he was able to be cuddling her. Ashido, as well, was also feeling the same way; Milo was kind, courteous, and good-hearted, and she felt safe and content in his arms.
Sunshine sat on the floor next to Kaminari, and was putting her head on his shoulder. Kaminari, whom Sunshine allowed to put his arm around her, was looking like he had won the lottery! Mineta, who was sitting on the other side of the room alone, was looking like he had just been royally cheated.
Joshua wasn't doing anything romantic with Jiro; he was still in the armchair, and Jiro was sitting beside Uraraka and Midoriya. He liked Jiro, he really did, but his roots as a villain's son were preventing him from trying to show it. Emotions weren't really positive for being a villain, as they made you feel guilt about what you were doing. So, he never really exercised any emotions, except for the negatives ones, such as anger. However, a weird feeling kept broiling up in him every now and then, and Joshua didn't know what it was. It was like a mix of guilt, happiness, and even…
Love?
No, it couldn't be love; love was the worst emotion of all to have as a villain. At least, if you loved others and not what you were doing. Joshua didn't know anyway; he was tired, and it was all too confusing for him.
It was now eleven o'clock at night, and Joshua was walking to Tatooin Station. He waited until everyone had fallen asleep, got dressed, and snuck out, making sure not to get caught the patrolling heroes. Fortunately, he had learned the patterns they patrolled with, and was able to find an opening to get by. Now, after running some distance away from the Heights Alliance building, he was able to walk to his destination.
He made to the same alleyway where they had last met, and standing in the shadows was Daisuke Haruki, AKA Stone Fish. When Joshua approached him, he took a defensive stance; a clear sign that he needed the coded phrase.
"A student at U.A has committed treason." Joshua spoke, using the phrase.
"For becoming a hero, there is no real reason." Haruki replied, losing the defensive stance and coming out of the shadows. "What do you have to report?"
"I've learned about the quirks of Class 1-A. Well, most of them…"
"What do you mean 'most of them'?"
"We were doing a team exercise, and I was placed on a team. Which means, I didn't get to know everybody's quirk. I know a few, but not everybody's quirk."
"Fine… I guess that'll do for now. Now spill it; what quirks did they have?"
Joshua began telling Haruki about the quirks of his teammates, all the way from Yaoyaorozu to Bakugo (see Chapter 7 - Hostage Exercise for reference). While he was speaking, Haruki pulled out a notepad and a pen, and began taking notes on it. After Joshua was done giving information, Haruki slipped them both back into his pocket.
"And that's pretty much it." Joshua finished. "Anything else you want to know?"
"Nothing at the moment." Haruki replied. "Anyway, we can cut this meeting off now; we've already got the important matter cleared out of the way."
Haruki turned and was about to walk out of the alleyway, but Joshua stopped him before he walk away.
"Wait a minute, Haruki." said Joshua. "There's something going on with me, and I was wondering if you could explain it."
"Okay, fire away." Haruki replied, stopping and turning to face Joshua.
"So, I've been getting these emotions, especially around a particular girl there. They're making me feel weird, like guilty, happy, and something else. Something that feels good, but I feel like if I try and take it, everything around me will come crashing down. You know what I mean?"
Haruki's expression went a little strange, and he asked, "You ever talk to you father about this?"
Joshua huffed and replied, "You forget, my father is one of the biggest villains in America. I don't think he'd find the time to talk with me about something like this. So, what is going on with me?"
"Well, the problem is an emotion that you've never felt before is coming forth." said Haruki. "The feeling you're probably feeling is called 'Love', and it's the worst emotion for any villain to have. It's a natural feeling, of course, but you need to suppress it in order to become a villain. A villain who has 'Love' will end badly, as they will not be able to do anything wrong with that feeling."
"Of course. But what do you recommend I do in order to stop this feeling?"
"Focus your mind and thoughts on being a villain, and try your hardest to stay away from this particular girl. Remember, you're here on a mission, and that girl is part of what we are planning on destroying. Last thing we want is for you to turn chicken when the times comes, right?"
"Right. And I'm no chicken…" Joshua growled.
"True." said Haruki. "Anyway, I don't know about you, but I'm tired and need to go to bed. You can head back to the dorms; I'll fire another text at you when we have another meeting."
"Understood. Have a good night…"
"Likewise…"
Joshua and Haruki both exited the alleyway, and began walking separate ways. As he walked, Joshua began mulling over what Haruki had told him; to focus his mind on being a villain, and to stay away from that girl.
"That girl has a name…" Joshua's thoughts spoke. "And her name is Kyoka Jiro, and I am in love with her…"
He shook his head; he needed to get those thoughts out of his head, cause they were a danger to his mission, and all that he and his father were working towards. He continued walking onward in silence, hoping that Aizawa had finished patrol and was asleep by now…
Joshua made it back to Heights Alliance, where he opened the gate, walked through the courtyard, and entered the building. He was about to go up to his room, when he noticed someone strange.
The strange person was a little girl, about seven years of age. She had light blue hair that was almost white in color, fair skin, and bright red eyes that were cute and innocent looking. Her clothing at the moment was a pink pajama night gown, a light blue cat-themed bathrobe, and slippers. She was walking in the main living area towards the stairs.
Joshua titled his head in confusion; what was a little girl doing in the dorms of high schoolers? And more importantly, why hadn't he seen her before?
He stepped forward to get a better look at her, and the little girl turned and saw him, letting out a small gasp upon seeing him.
"Who are you?" Joshua asked, his tone confused and soft, trying not to scare the little girl. "What are you doing here?"
"I… I…" the little girl stuttered, her tone afraid.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you." Joshua spoke kindly, taking a knee so he could see her better. "I'm new here, so you haven't seen me before. Is there somebody I could take you to?"
"Mr. Aizawa…" the little girl replied, afraid like she was in trouble. "I needed to use the bathroom, but he… was asleep and I… didn't want to wake him…"
"Oh." Joshua replied. "Did you already go?"
"Yes…"
"Is it okay if I take you back to him, then?"
The little girl nodded, and Joshua stood up, motioning for her to follow him. They went back up the stairs together, and stood in front of Aizawa's door. The door was unlocked, to which Joshua opened the door for her. The little girl walked in, and turned to face him.
"Thank you…" she said shyly.
"Don't mention it." Joshua replied. "Please don't, by the way, as I was out and I don't want Aizawa to know; I'll tell him tomorrow. You understand, right?"
"No." the girl replied innocently.
"You don't have to lie or anything; just don't tell him. For my sake, okay?"
"Okay…" The girl replied.
"Good. In the meantime, I'll be going back to bed; see you around, kid."
He closed the door and began walking away from Aizawa's room, a million questions forming in his mind. The biggest, of course, was who exactly was this little girl that was living with Aizawa? Was she his daughter? His step-daughter, or niece? Was she even related to him for that matter?
No, she couldn't be related to him; she was too nice, too innocent. And from a brotherly point of view, she was adorable. There was no possible way she could be related to Aizawa by blood. Either way, he was too tired to solve this mystery; he would find out more in the morning…
Joshua went back to his room, undressed, climbed into bed, and fell asleep. The night rolled on…
The next morning, the class woke up and had breakfast. Unlike the delicious breakfast they had yesterday, this morning's was of cereal and milk. The Class 1-A students were all chatting with each other, so Joshua took this time as a chance to talk with Aizawa about last night's encounter. He walked over to the table where Aizawa sat, sipping his tea and staring off into space…
"Morning, Mr. Aizawa." Joshua greeted him.
"Morning…" Aizawa replied, still sounding drowsy. "What do you want, Joshua?"
"I want to talk to you about something that happened to me last night." Joshua replied. "I couldn't sleep last night, so I woke up and went downstairs to get something to eat. While I was down there, I was met by a little girl who was coming out of the little girl's room. She was cute, and said that she needed to go, but you were asleep and she didn't want to wake you. I led her back to your room, no big deal. You mind explaining to me who that was?"
Aizawa looked at Joshua with his usual bored expression and replied, "She's my foster daughter. She came from an abusive place, so she's often afraid of asking for something; I would've taken her myself if she woke me up. I do appreciate you bringing her back; I would've been worried sick if I awoke and couldn't find her."
"You? Worried?" Joshua asked, his tone humorous. "I never pegged you for the 'caring' type, Mr. Aizawa. Still though, it's rather kind of you to look after a kid who's had a rough upbringing. Just you're trying to earn that promotion to 'human being', huh?"
"Don't push it, Graham…" Aizawa muttered, sipping his tea.
"Sorry." Joshua replied, his tone going back to serious. "Anyway, thanks for explaining her being here to me. I'll leave you alone now."
Joshua walked off to get some breakfast, leaving Aizawa sipping his tea and thinking about what Joshua had said. He was going to have to reassure Eri that it was alright to ask him for something when she needed it.
…
After breakfast was eaten and appetites were satisfied, Class 1-A and the American students prepared for school. They went back to their dorm rooms, dressed in their school uniforms, and went out of the heights alliance building. However, much to their annoyance, they were met that the one thing that heroes both loved and hated: reporters.
Word had gotten out to the Japanese media about U.A opening its doors to six students, and the press were on them like wild dogs. Several cameramen and their reporters were up and front, trying to ask questions while jostling for position in the herd. One particular reporter was a lady with black hair, dressed in a dark blue pantsuit. She was a regular reporter to U.A, and had been seen before by the students.
The American students, having encountered reporters before in their home country, knew how to act accordingly. However, when they got to Matthew, something must of clicked in his head, cause he went nuts! He started yelling out words of anger and began swinging at them wildly, causing them to jump back in fright! Some even made a run for it!
"Get out of here, you leeches! Vultures! Spawns of the abyss!" Matthew roared, swinging his fists wildly like a drunken fighter. "Hightail it back to mamas! I'm coming after your sons and daughters! I'm gonna eat them like chicken, you hear me?! Crazy American kid with the powers of a god is gonna eat your families like a Sunday dinner! I eat lighting and crap thunder, boys! Nothing scares me, so get out of here!"
"He's crazy!" The reporter lady yelled out. "Let's get out of here!"
The reporters started making a run for it, as Matthew continued yelling threats at them. In about ten seconds flat, all reporters were running for their lives! Afterwards, the area was clear, left with Matthew panting hard and the Japanese students looking at him in confusion.
Suddenly, Bakugo began laughing! He started laughing hard at what he had just witnessed; it was funniest thing he had ever seen in his life! He laughed so hard, that he fell to his knees! This caused both American and Japanese students to look at Bakugo in shock; they had never seen him laugh that hard before!
"That was awesome!" Bakugo laughed. "You just made a fool out of yourself! But it was great, I loved it!"
"Thank you." Matthew replied calmly, dusting his hands like had done a hard job. "Shall we?"
Matthew began walking towards U.A, and the students started following him. The American students looked ashamed, while the Japanese students just looked confused. Bakugo and Kirishima walked alongside Matthew, with Bakugo still cracking up from seeing the reporters running away like children.
"What just happened?" Mezo Shoji, a large student with octopus like arms, asked.
"He hates reporters." Annabelle replied, coming to walk alongside him. "Matthew believes all reporters are scum, and that news in general is fake. To that extent, he chases off any reporters who come within four feet of his personal space. You should've seen him back home; one time, the press came to interview a teacher with the sole intention of making him look bad, and Matthew tore them to shreds. Not literally, but he did cause quite the stir."
"Sounds like he has a fiery attitude that could rival Bakugo's."
"Yeah, he can be a fighter sometimes. But if you remember from when he told his story, he had to be like that."
Shoji nodded, and he and Annabelle continued walking in silence, both walking Matthew as he walked with Bakugo and Kirishima. Another day had begun for the American students at U.A…
