Chapter 2 Awake and Breathing

An: Well... I warned you about irregular updates so there is that but still sorry this has taken so long. I hope you all enjoy this chapter. Thank you to all of you who have patiently waited for this update and favourited and followed the story.

My eyes flicker open the light blinding them and forcing me to shut them. A voice from my right calmly tells me "Don't rush just open your eyes slowly."

Slowly they open once more, shielded by... my hand? When did I raise my hand? I can feel it there but I didn't realize I had moved it. Blinking I force my eye to try and focus on something about my surroundings however, everything is bright.

A few moments pass and my eyes adjust to the brightness and I notice a woman is standing to my right. This woman was dressed in a outfit that I would describe as skimpy but in a way practical for the heat. Wait... it's really warm now when did that happen?

"So you're finally awake then." It's a statement with undertones of... relief? Before I can even formulate a response she begins talking again explaining "We thought you might never wake up your injuries were pretty severe and who knows how long you'd been out in the ocean before we found you a week ago"

I was out in the ocean? I don't remember that. Or anything at all really. By the stars this is confusing as all hell. Wait I better stop thinking I probably look confused she is looking concerned. I should say something.

I go to begin speaking but nothing comes out but a hoarse coughing fit.

Well this woman said I was unconscious for a week. I need water. Shit it's hard to breathe with all this coughing.

The woman quickly hands me a glass of water which I promptly drink causing me to cough a little more before the moisture finally coats my throat allowing me to finally stop coughing and breathe.

Upon taking a deep breath and collecting my thoughts I finally manage to ask "Where am I ?" The question itself is unoriginal but it will have to do it is an important question.

"You're on the Moby Dick a ship in the grand line. She's the home to we Whitebeard pirates." She declared it with pride and without hesitation.

She is proud of this place and what she does. This is her home I can tell from her voice. Though I am worried about the pirate part that could mean I'm in for some serious trouble. Though she mentioned they found me in the ocean and saved me so they must not be entirely terrible... I don't remember why I was even out in the ocean. Actually I can't remember anything.. at all... shit... even my own name is fuzzy at best. Maybe she'll know?'

"Thank you for rescuing me and excuse my asking but do you know what happens? Or actually better yet do you know who I am? I can't seem to remember.."

She blinks twice before the meaning of my words seem to reach her mind as her blank expression turns to one of understanding.

" You lost your memories. A case of amnesia." Shaking her head she continued. "That is problematic for all of us. The captain was right you are going to be trouble."

"I'm sorry I don't mean to be any trouble." My response is practiced like I have said it hundreds of times before but I don't know why I would say it so often.

She smiles sweetly and chuckles "Don't worry so much dear. All those here were trouble in one way or another. Now how are you feeling?" Her tone changes from amused to professional concern for what I assume is my state of being.

I take a moment to truly feel. My body feels a little numb there is pain but it is dull like the edge has been taken from it like blade no longer sharp but dulled and not helpful as the injuries have been treated. " I feel alright the pain is dull and not bad. I feel a bit numb also but otherwise completely fine." The words I speak simple concise only what is necessary to say.

The a voice from the door way begins clear and strong " Good I will let Oyaji know our guess is feeling better. Yoi" The voice belongs to a man tall, tan and muscular. His hair oddly styled and blond.

" Ah commander Marco I didn't think it would be you that would be coming to check I was sure it was going to be commander Thatch." The woman puzzled continued, "He was suppose to bring food."

The man; Marco is what she called him snorted "He forgot to help prepare the food for lunch and will be by later to deliver food." His tone holding a hint of annoyance but mostly of fondness. This Thatch must be his brother or a very close friend.

"Well as long as he brings the broth and bread I will be happy enough. Also you better tell Oyaji that she won't be up to leaving her bed for at least another few days she won't have the strength even then to be up for very long." Her tone goes from slightly annoyed to one of warning and a promise of action should her words go unheeded.

Marco raises his hands in a placating manner. "I'll make sure he knows but you know how Oyaji can be." He reminded her.

"Umm.. pardon me," I pipe up voice full of curiosity. "Who is this "Oyaji" you are talking about ?"
