A/N: thank you for the reviews and support! I really appreciate it!!
My eyes must be as big as the moon as I take in the weaponry. I walk carefully, avoid making contact with the walls so nothing blows up. I walk towards his kitchen. I have a seat at his island bar and take in more of his rather small apartment.
"Eliza,do you want some water? Maybe a tea? I learned how to make this amazing French tea during my time in France. It has lemon, honey, and a pinch of cocoa powder. I bet you would love it."
I snap back to him, "That sounds lovely, actually. Thank you."
"Of course." He turns towards the sink to start with the water for the tea, "Don't be too alarmed, most of those are just for show, actually."
"But the grenades are not…?"
"Yea, those are antique. World War 2 type grenades developed by the Russians."
"Oh, fun." He hands me a steaming coffee mug with the tea bag still in it, "So, uhm. I think I should ask you my questions and get this over with as soon as possible. I don't want to worry my sisters."
"Speaking of your sisters, how are they?"
"Angelica is upset and Peggy is being Peggy."
"So, it's true then. Alex is in fact cheating on you?"
I nod, "Unfortunately so, I asked him about it this afternoon. He lied at first and then fessed up when I caught him in the lie. That's why he wasn't at the meeting tonight."
"Wow, I am beyond sorry to hear about that, Eliza. He always talks about you, but I guess being as attractive as him has a negative reaction for him."
"I guess so." I take a sip of the tea, "So, what exactly would I need to do if I, I don't know, want to get rid of someone."
"Well, it starts very similarly to this. We meet someone relatively private. You tell me who and tell you the price associated with the person. You pay and give me the date it needs to happen along with where they live or a habit that they partake in that would lead for an easy shot. Then, on that date I go in for the kill, and send you a text when it's done. If you request another person or another meeting, we set up a date for that. Then, the cycle repeats."
"Wow, okay. The price changes for the person I want you to end?"
"Yes, more popular people or more public people cost more. Someone I have a personal vendetta against might cost more because I want to get rid of them, too. In this case if you were to choose Maria her price is about 4,000 for the kill, Alexander would be about 6,000 because I can not stand him."
"What if I don't have that much money? What do I do then?"
"Because this is your first business encounter with me, I'd lower the price for you."
"Have you ever refused someone's request?"
"Oh yea, all the time." He takes a sip of his beer, "People who request Mr. President or someone I am personally fond of gets removed from my trusted list immediately. Like, one time I got a request to kill Peggy. I told the hell no and to get the hell out. I'm not just killing anyone, I have standards for my service."
"Okay." I sigh, "I want Maria. I have money but not enough for your price."
"What did you bring?"
"2,500?"
"I'll take it. This is very urgent for you, Mrs. Hamilton. You want things to be back to normal, I can do that."
"Okay, can it be done at like 3 am on Saturday? I'm going back Friday and I think it would be funny for him to come home late after you just killed his mistress."
He chuckles, "Anything for you."
I pull out my wallet and take out the money, "Thank you for this, Thomas." I grab his forearm, forcing him to look into my eyes instead of at the floor, "I really appreciate this."
He layers his hand over me, "Anything for you, Eliza."
I hand him the cash as he leads me out, "Do you want me to walk you to Peggy's?"
"How did you know I was staying with Peggy?"
He leans by my ear, "I have connections to Peggy, did you forget that?"
A shiver runs down my spine, "I did. I would really appreciate it if you did that for me, thank you."
He puts his hand in between my shoulder blades as he guides me out of his apartment. We make small talk to the elevator. Then when we entered the elevator he did something strange. He asked me a very personal question, "Before Alexander, were you ever in love?"
I had to think about it. Was I? "I don't think I was. I was 23 when I met him and before that I didn't really date or go out. I had just graduated college and knew that I should meet someone and settle down. It just happened to be at that party when I met him. Somewhere deep down, I knew he was the one."
"Did you ever… get involved… with someone before him."
I shook my head, "I wasn't extremely religious, but I did think that I should wait till I at least found the one. Even if we weren't married, but if I thought we were going to be, I was okay with taking the leap of faith, if you know what I mean."
"I wish I would have done something like that. Only play with the ones you love, type of thing. I have had too many one night stands for that."
The elevator door opens and we leave, "Did you ever find someone you loved?"
"I thought I did. I married her. Then, she passed away. I thought I did again, it was Peggy. Maybe I do love Peggy, but I also thought I loved Angelica. You are the only Schuyler sister I haven't wanted to sleep with. Partially because you have a husband."
"Oh yea?"
"Sorry?"
I shake my head, "It's okay. I understand."
We walk in silence the rest of the way to the house. When we stop we stop on the sidewalk in front of the suburban house.
He clears his throat, "I'll have your delivery done around 3 am that Friday night into Saturday."
"Thank you, for all of this."
"Not a problem, Eliza. Give good words to your sisters for me."
"Of course, good night, Thomas."
"Good night Eliza."
