Team Building

After Lincoln, Lola and Jordan got their pokemon healed by the paramedics who had arrived on the scene with the police (Lana had already healed her own pokemon before then), the quartet hit the road once more, on the trail to Oakenville. The mood among them was much more blue among them as they went. The one son in particular was more quiet than usual, still dwelling on the near loss of not just his pokemon, but his sisters' and his friend's as well. He couldn't let that happen again. First chance he got, he was going to catch more pokemon to round off his team, and train them like there was no tomorrow.

Sadly, he didn't see many pokemon that neither he nor Lana hadn't already seen or caught on Route 3, so they had to wait a few days before they reached Route 4. Upon reaching this new route, however, it was like Christmas morning for the catch happy twin. There were all kinds of new pokemon meandering about the grassy fields and in the woods. The sight was enough to send Lana running after them, rushing after her potential new friends.

"And there she goes again…" Her prissy twin said with a soft giggle.

"She has the right idea in this case," Her brother said. "I know I need to catch some more pokemon."

"Then let's split up and see if we can expand our teams," Jordan suggested. "We'll meet back on the road in, like, forty minutes or so."

"Sounds like a plan," The one son replied. "But if any of you see any Team Helix punks...just stay away from them." Lola and Girl Jordan both nodded in agreement before they headed off in different directions.

Having a head start on the others, Lana was already on the hunt. Her eagerness had ended up scaring off some of the pokemon nearby. However, she wasn't dissuaded. There were new pokemon to be found and she was going to catch them. Little did she know that while she was hunting for pokemon, she was being hunted herself. A purple serpent pokemon with yellow eyes peeked out from the tall grass. The snake narrowed its eyes as it ducked back under the vegetation before slithering silently after her. The only sign that it was even there was the rustling of grass. The handy twin grinned as she spotted a little rodent pokemon with large, red eyes, which spotted her as well.

Before it could try and flee, Lana had called forth Hops and had it spray down the rat pokemon with a bubblebeam. This angered the rodent, who charged at her tadpole pokemon. Her serpentine stalker watched from the edge of the grass, observing the battle as it took place. Watching. Waiting. It didn't take long for Hops for him to weaken the pokemon, known as Patrat, enough for Lana to capture it and send it to the box. Suspecting her pokemon would be tired after the fight, the snake pokemon struck. It lunged at Lana's back, ready to sink its fangs into her. However, before it could reach her, her Tympole spotted it and unleashed a torrent of murky mud into the serpent. The purple snake was knocked onto its side, dazed as the animal loving loud threw a pokeball at it too.

"Yeah! Got it!" Lana yelled excitedly as the containment device clicked upon capturing it.

"Ekans, the snake pokemon," Her pokedex explained. "Ekans curls itself up into a spiral while it rests. Assuming this position allows it to quickly respond to threats from any direction with a glare from its upraised head."

"Sweet!" Lana exclaimed as the Ekans' pokeball faded away. "...man, why do there have to be so many cool pokemon? Or better yet, why does there have to be a six pokemon limit?"

Under normal circumstances, the one son would be taking more time to carefully choose what pokemon he would catch to join his team. However, after what happened against Nadia, he didn't want to take any chances. He thought he would start catching more pokemon on the next few routes and sort things out as he goes. The question is what should he catch? His eyes scanned the open field beside him covered in tall grass, with Princess rising up over his head for a better look herself. There was a lot of rustling in the grass, but neither could really see what was in it. However, there was a pokemon hovering just barely over the vegetation; a pink, almost elephant like pokemon with little purple flowers on its body.

"I wonder what that is," Lincoln said quietly as he pulled out his pokedex.

"Munna, the Dream Eater pokemon," Rip explained. "It eats the dreams of people and pokemon. When it eats pleasant dreams, it expels pink-colored mist."

"Hmmm. Doesn't look very tough…" The one son muttered to himself. "But I know that looks can be deceiving." He smirked as he looked up at Princess. "Ready to give it a go?"

"Ish!" The pink jellyfish responded with a confident nod.

"Alright then. Open up with Nightshade!" Princess floated herself down to ground level as a sickly purple aura surrounded her. The ghostly attack struck the pachyderm-ish creature, causing it to yelp in pain before turning to face her. Instead of attacking, it simply yawned in an adorable manner. Both pokemon and trainer were confused, though Princess did yawn in reply. "...ok. Princess, one more time!" The white haired trainer instructed. The frillish obeyed, unleashing another surge of ghostly energy upon the Munna. However, once the attack had finished, she closed her eyes.

"Princess?" Lincoln asked in concern, rushing to get a look at her. However, it looked like she was only asleep. He breathed a sigh of relief and looked up to see the Munna attempting to float away. "Oh no you don't!" He declared as he hurled a pokeball in its direction. The red and white capture device absorbed the pocket monster and fell to the ground. The ball started to shake...Once. Twice. A third time...click! "Yes!"

"Congratulations, Mr Loud. Your recently captured Munna is female, with the ability Synchronize."

"Thank you, Rip. And thank you, Princess," Lincoln said, though his starter was still asleep. He smiled lightly, thinking that the pink aquatic ghost looked adorable when she slept. He decided he'd let her be, helping her onto his back before summoning Scorbunny.

"Scorbunny!" The little caped rabbit exclaimed as he was freed from his little home.

"Ssshhh," His trainer hushed him, pointing back at Princess sleeping on his back. The fire bunny blinked, then nodded, doing the 'my lips are zipped' motion across his mouth. Lincoln chuckled as he patted him on the head. Just then, a small, red fox with six curly tails stepped out from the grass, chasing after a large, yellow berry that was rolling ahead of it. "Hmmm. That looks like an adorable little pokemon." The white haired teen commented quietly, turning his pokedex toward it.

"Vulpix. The Fox Pokemon. Inside Vulpix's body is a flame that never goes out. During the daytime, when the temperatures rise, this Pokemon releases flames from its mouth to prevent its body from growing too hot."

"A fire pokemon? Well, I guess it couldn't hurt to have another one," He thought out loud. "Ready to go, Scorbunny?"

"Scor!" The little fire rabbit exclaimed excitedly. This got the Vulpix' attention, stopping in the middle of the road and looking over at the human and his pocket monster partner in horror. Scorbunny ran right at the little fox, which yelped and ducked while covering its eyes. Seeing its fright, Scorbunny skidded to a stop right in front of it, looking confused. It never noticed that he had stopped, still cowering as if he was still charging. "Bunny?" The young lapin asked, tapping the multi-tailed fox on the head. The Vulpix yelped and pretended to faint, hoping it would make them go away.

"Uh...ok," Lincoln said, looking kind of bemused as he pulled an empty pokeball from his bag. He hurled the red and white sphere at the pokemon playing possum, which quickly absorbed the fox-like creature. One, two, three shakes...click! The middle Loud smiled as he reclaimed the pokeball. "Good work, Scorbunny," He said, patting the long eared pokemon on the head. Yeah, he didn't do much, but it still made the little guy very happy.

Further up the road, Lola was meandering through a meadow of wildflowers, all of her pokemon out. However, it wasn't just a pleasure trip. She was on the hunt for a new pokemon just like her siblings and Jordan, and she had her pokemon out to help her. However, so far, their search has been a bust. Brat and Isabella were enthusiastic, but less than stealthy, and her Cutiefly seemed more interested in the flowers.

This lack of progress irritated the pageant princess as she called for her pokemon, intent on looking elsewhere. "Let's see...Brittany, Brat, Isabella...where's Victoria?" Lola asked as soon as she realized someone was missing: her Cutiefly. A quick scan of the field showed the fuzzy bug hovering over a small, black flower. One she could have swore wasn't there before. The beauty obsessed twin frowned as she started to approach her recently caught pokemon. As she got closer, the black flower, as well as the dark blue flower beside it, started to move through the meadow.

"Something fishy here…" Lola muttered with a frown. "Pokedex, does Cutiefly know any moves that can make wind?"

"The closest technique would be Silver Wind, Miss Loud," Her pokedex responded with its usual electronic voice.

'Hmmm. Going to need to do something about that,' She thought to herself after hearing the voice. "Victoria, use Silver Wind!" The puff ball of a bug pokemon nodded and started to flutter its wings faster. It kicked up a light breeze that sent a cloud of dust into the flowers. It was enough to blow some of them aside, revealing a tiny, yellowish green plant pokemon with three spikes on its head, and a black and dark blue flower in place of its hands. It had a leaf covering its front like half a sarong. It squealed softly as it tried to cover its face to protect it from the insect's dust.

"Roselia, the Thorn Pokemon. It uses the different poisons in each hand separately when it attacks. The stronger its aroma, the healthier it is."

"Cute, yet dangerous...just like me!" Lola said cheerfully as she pulled an empty pokeball from her bag. "And now you're mine! Pokeball, go!" She exclaimed before tossing it at her quarry. The little flower person tried to make a run for it, but too late. It was absorbed into the pokemon containment device. Having been damaged by Silver Wind, the grass pokemon offered little resistance and was caught with ease.

"Well done, Miss Loud. Your Roselia is male, with the ability Poison Point," Her pokedex informed her. "I would also like to inform you that the pokemon you had just captured was a rare variety of Roselia."

"Huh? What's that?" The prissy twin asked, looking at the screen of her digital pokemon encyclopedia. In reply, it showed her a picture of the normal Roselia. It was a brighter green than her own, plus it had a red and a blue flower. Then, it brought up a picture of the one she just caught.

"Pokemon with unusual pigmentations, which most trainers refer to as shiny pokemon, are a rare find, particularly in the wild. And you are the proud trainer of one of them." Lola was smiling so much, it almost hurt, she was so happy when she heard that news. A rare version of an already adorable pokemon? How lucky can she get?

"Well well, look who it is?" A very familiar, male voice said from not far away. A voice she knew she hated.

'Guess my luck couldn't hold for THAT long…' She deadpanned mentally before turning to face Charlemange Tavish; still dressed in a kid's suit and sporting that smug smirk he had when they had first met. "Oh...it's you…"

"Is that any way to greet the likes of me? Surely, you can do better than that."

"I refrained from calling you a jerk. That's as good as you're going to get," She snapped at him.

"Hehehe. A little firecracker, you are. I like that in a girl," He said as he took a step toward her.

"Watch it, bub, or I'll blow up right in your face!" She warned him. Sensing trouble, Brittany and Isabella sprang over to her side, followed by Brat. Victoria was the last to flutter over for a look.

"Come now, little miss. I already told you that I don't battle women," Charlemagne said, waving off her threat.

"Won't stop me from fighting you, you know," SHe said, cracking her knuckles. Charlemagne didn't seem perturbed by this, pulling out a thick wad of cash from his pocket.

"Are you sure about that?" Lola looked at the money and just rolled her eyes.

"You think you can just buy my attention? Think again, buddy. Besides, I used to make that much by winning pageants," She said in disgust. This was something of an exaggeration, but the point was she wasn't impressed. He was still grinning as he flicked his wrist, showing he was carrying three thick wads of money, which turned her expression into one of shock and surprise.

"And this is just my weekly allowance," He explained to her. 'And she does pageants too! I knew I had a good feeling about her.'

"Ok...I'll admit...that's kind of impressive…" The hot headed young blonde said, though she hated to admit it. She shook her head, then glared right at him. "But like I said, you can't go buying me!"

"Everyone has their price, beautiful. I just need to find yours," He said, taking a step toward her. Lola and all of her pokemon braced themselves, ready to strike if he got any closer. Just then…

"Hey Lo! You gotta see this pokemon I-" Lana exclaimed as she came running up to her twin, only to stop when she noticed the scene before her. "Oh...hey, Chuck…"

"That name is Charlemange, you insolent peasant!" The spoiled brat snapped furiously.

"Whatever," The tomboy replied with a roll of the eyes. "He giving you trouble, sis?"

"I got it under control, Lana," She replied, not taking her eyes off the arrogant teen.

"Why don't you stay out of this, you pest!?" Charlemagne snarled.

"Hey, you mess with my twin, you mess with me too!" The tool savvy gal responded before turning back to Lola. "But if you say you-"

"Twin? Ha! She's a thing of beauty, while you're nothing more than an ugly little boy!" Both Lana and Lola froze when he said that. Lola was starting to see red. She's made fun of Lana's looks before, true, but she never called her an ugly boy. To her, that was crossing the line. She was about to pounce, but Lana held an arm out to stop her. In her younger days, she wouldn't have cared about such an insult. In fact, she would have worn it like a badge of honor. However, as she told her brother a few days back, times change; and although she still didn't fuss too much about her appearance, his words still hurt her.

She slowly turned to face him with a serious glare, growling, "He's mine…" Hearing that made the overconfident teen laugh uproariously.

"You think you stand a chance against Charlemagne Tavish!?"

"Our brother beat your butt before, remember!?"

"He got lucky!" Charlemagne shouted, his mirth quickly turning to rage.

"He didn't need luck, and neither do I!" Lana responded loudly as she drew one of her many pokeballs from her belt. "Go, Dusty!" She declared as she summoned forth her Spewpa.

"Hmph. A common little bug for a common little flea…" Her opponent chided as he pulled a fancy looking luxury ball from his pocket. "Go, Shieldon!" From the overly expensive ball appeared a small quadruped dinosaur with an oval metal plate for a face.

"A what?" Lana asked as she pulled out her pokedex for a reading.

"Shieldon, the Shield Pokemon. It habitually polishes its face by rubbing it against tree trunks. It's weak to attacks from behind," Her synthetic aide informed her.

"Damn electronic stool pigeon!" Charlemagne groused, just as Lola pulled out her own dex to send a message to Lincoln and Girl Jordan. No doubt they would want to see this battle.

"From behind? Thanks for the tip!" Lana said gratefully. 'Pity Dusty isn't too fast, or I'd totally take advantage of that advice.'

"Shieldon, use Take Down!" The orange haired boy commended. The prehistoric pokemon gave a soft, squeal-like roar before it charged toward the bagworm before it.

"Dusty, use Protect!" In the blink of an eye, a glowing barrier surrounded the little bug pokemon. When Shieldon's head collided with it, it simply bounced off and back a few feet. "Good! Now counter with Stun Spore!"

"Not so fast, peon! Shieldon can protect too!" Charlemagne told her with a smug sneer. Just as Dusty unleashed a cloud of paralyzing dust into the air, the rock/steel pokemon simply planted its feet and tilted its head so the full plate was facing the Spewpa. A shimmering forcefield surrounded it, making the dust all but worthless.

'Oh boy...I see where this is going…' Lola thought exasperatedly. It was right at this time that Lincoln came running up, with the young lady with the light brown hair close behind.

"Oh great...it really is this jerk again…" The white haired teen grumbled. The pink frillish on his back seemed to share his disdain for the Tavish boy. "What happened, Lola?"

"That creep tried to win me over with money, failed miserably, and when Lana came by, he had the nerve to call her an ugly boy," She explained, keeping her eyes on the current stalemate. "Then Lana challenged him to a pokemon battle."

"I thought he didn't-oh wait. I almost forgot…" Jordan said, crossing her arms with a bit of a smirk. "He's an idiot." This made the three Louds snicker, while Charlemagne just ignored her.

"Alright, Dusty. Let's try it again. Stun spore!" She instructed her first caught pokemon. She could see where this was going just as well as Lola, and she was planning to stop that silliness here and now.

"Shieldon, protect again!" Her opponent barked. Although his pokemon tried, it just couldn't create the forcefield again. It ended up covered in the Spewpa's powder. "Hey! I told you to protect again!"

"The move protect takes a lot out of a pokemon," Lana's pokedex enlightened them. "As a result, if it is used multiple times without a rest, it has a higher chance of simply failing."

"Who asked you, you electronic know it all!?"

"Now that your dino monster is paralyzed, Dusty is free to smack him around!" Lana declared, before she thought, 'Man...a dinosaur pokemon. That is so cool...pity such a bad guy got it.' She then instructed "Dusty, Bug Bite!" Dusty sprange forward and attempted to sink its teeth into the Shieldon. However, it appeared to do no damage whatsoever.

"Heh. Looks like you're as stupid as you are repulsive!" Charlemagne said snidely. "Shieldon is a rock and steel pokemon. Bug attacks do practically nothing to it. He, however, can do plenty to your worthless little pest. Ancient power!" Fortunately for the metal plated ancient pokemon, he managed to break through his paralysis to pull three rocks from the ground with a dark purple aura surrounding them. He then hurled them at the Spewpa. The poor bug pokemon cried out in pain, but somehow managed to remain standing.

"Come on, Dusty...you can do this," Lana said, her tone dripping with worry. Worry which only grew when the Spewpa started glowing, cracks forming in places. "D-Dusty!?"

"Is it…?" Lola asked her brother in a hushed voice.

"I think so," The middle Loud replied as the glowing husk split open and a thin butterfly pokemon with long, large wings came flying out. His eyes were large and black with white specks, and his wings were a deep blue with maize colored stripes.

"Vivillion, the Scale Pokemon. The patterns on this Pokémon's wings depend on the climate and topography of its habitat. It scatters colorful scales," Lana's pokedex said as the newly evolved Dusty started flapping his wings. The animal loving Loud smiled brightly at the sight of her partner's new form.

"This could be our chance, buddy!" She said enthusiastically as she looked at her pokemon encyclopedia. "Use...Psybeam? He can use that? Cool!" Dusty's eyes started to shine as a beam comprised of purple rings launched from his forehead. The Shieldon bleated in pain as the psychic ray struck it, its powerful defense useless against it. However, it was still standing.

"Shieldon, you better not lose this!" Charlemagne threatened as his rock/steel pokemon stood upon shaky legs. "Ancient Power!" Once more, the dinosaur pokemon unleashed a volley of rocks at the Vivillion. The damage from this earthen attack was enough to knock Dusty out of the air and cause him to faint.

"Dusty!" Lana exclaimed in horror before she recalled it. Charlemagne laughed in a cold manner.

"I hate to admit it, but that is one tough pokemon…" Jordan said with a frown as she watched the battle.

"It should be for what I paid for it," The spoiled brat informed them with a smirk.

"Paid for it? You BOUGHT a pokemon!?" The white haired teen asked in outrage.

"I paid for someone to breed and raise me a pokemon for use in battle," Charlemagne corrected him in a snooty manner. "But yes, I suppose that's true."

"That's both wrong and lazy…" Lana said, shaking her head as she drew her next pokemon. "Go, Mankey!" The furious pig monkey appeared in a flash of light and, before Lana could give her an order, she sprang forward and slammed her hand into Shieldon's head in a karate chop. "What? Wait, Mankey, I-!" The animal loving twin tried to say, but the prehistoric pokemon had already collapsed from the fighting ape's attack. "-Oh. Well, that works too, I guess…"

"Damn it all, Shieldon! You're supposed to be the most powerful defensive type!" Charlemagne snarled before he recalled it. "Go, Voltorb!" He yelled as he hurled his next pokemon containment device. From within it, a creature that looked like a pokeball with eyes appeared, glaring at the opposing monkey pokemon.

"Alright, Mankey. Let's-" Her words fell on deaf ears as the Mankey charged forward. "No!"

"Voltorb, Self Destruct!" At its trainer's orders, the spherical pokemon started to shake and glow. Just as Mankey was about to pounce upon it, it exploded. Lincoln, Jordan, Lola and especially Lana all looked positively aghast at what they had just witnessed. When the dust cleared, both the raging pig monkey and the living pokeball were unconscious.

"Did...did you really just do that!?" Lana yelled furiously.

"What? That's what Voltorbs are good for. That's ALL their good for," The wealthy teen boy said snidely before he recalled his fainted Voltorb. Lana had tears of anger in her eyes as she pulled out her next pokemon.

"Go, Zubat!" As the pokeball burst out, out came the eyeless little blue bat, fluttering in mid air.

"Axew, you better make up for your past failure!" Charlemagne threatened as he summoned forth his starting pokemon. Axew seemed nervous and fidgety as it faced Lana's Zubat.

"Use Supersonic!" Lana commanded. The poison/flying pokemon opened its mouth and unleashed a sonic shriek in the direction of the Tusk pokemon. The ear splitting racket was enough to scatter the little dragon's mind.

"Axew, use Dragon Rage!" The dragon pokemon had some trouble focusing on his target, but managed to fight through its confusion. He breathed a jet of blue fire from his mouth, which badly scorched the bat pokemon. The pain was too much for Zubat, and it fell to the ground with a thud.

"Oh no! Zubat!" Lana cried before she recalled the fainted bat. The little green dragon sighed with relief, smiling a little.

"So you beat a Zubat. Big deal," Charlemagne said with a scoff. "Anyone with a big enough rock or stick can do the same." Any cheer that was in Axew's face faded in an instant, the Tusk pokemon's shoulders slumping sorrowfully.

"Hey! You should be encouraging your pokemon, not beating them down even when they win," Jordan yelled angrily.

"Don't tell me how to raise my pokemon!"

"You didn't raise them! You paid someone to raise them for you!" She shouted in response.

"Details, details!"

"Go, Hops!" Lana exclaimed as she sent her Tympole out to face the draconic threat. "Attack with mud shot!"

"Axew, dragon rage!" Charlemagne commanded, thrusting a finger right at Hops. The little drake started to charge a sphere of cerulean fire in his mouth, but before he could unleash it, he smacked himself in the face instead. "Axew! I said dragon rage!"

"Did you forget so quickly?" Lincoln inquired with a slight smirk. "Zubat confused him earlier."

"Shut up!" The short tempered, wealthy brat snapped as Hops spat a jet of muddy water at the poor dragon pokemon. Not only was Axew soaked, but coated in slippery mud as well; mud that had formed a puddle under his feet as well.

"That's the way, Hops. Do it again!" Lana cheered, her tadpole pokemon bouncing up and down happily.

"Axew, evade the attack and roast that pathetic runt!" Charlemagne demanded in fury. Axew attempted to obey, but he couldn't get any traction and ended up getting sprayed down again. To make matters worse for him, he ended up hitting himself again in his confusion. "Damn it, Axew! I told you to get out of the way!"

"Hey! Cut the little guy some slack!" Lana shouted at her opponent. "He's doing the best he can, given the circumstances."

"When I want your opinion, you insect, I'll give it to you!" The Tavish boy roared, his anger reaching its peak. "I'm his master and I'll treat him how I see fit for his failure!" The tomboy twin felt a strong twinge of sympathy for the emerald dragon pokemon. This boy was as bad as Rodge...maybe worse. She considered throwing the rest of the match; let the Tusk pokemon win. However, that would also mean she'd be letting Charlemagne win...and she wasn't sure if she could do that.

"Sorry, little guy…" The young tomboy said with a sad sigh before she instructed, "Mud Shot…"

"Axew, do something right for a change!" The teenage brat screamed. Axew, however, slipped and slid in the puddle of mud in his attempt as Hops' final attack splashed him right in the face and knocked him flat on his back. Charlemagne roared in frustration and fury, while Lana patted her Tympole on the head.

"Excellent battle, Lana," Her older brother said with a smile at the animal loving twin. However, she didn't seem as pleased as she looked at the unconscious dragon pokemon laying in the muck.

"You must have cheated!" The orange haired teen yelled, pointing an accusing finger. "How else could you have beaten me!?"

"Because you are legitimately awful?" Girl Jordan suggested with a smirk. This made Charlemagne storm up to her.

"I am one of the best there is! I am a Tavish!"

"You can't even beat a young girl, which you say is supposed to be the weaker gender," The once popular girl retorted.

"THAT-" He thrust a finger at Lana, who was glaring daggers at him. "-IS NOT A GIRL!" Before Lana could consider letting Hops spray him with some muddy water, Lola put a hand on her shoulder and whispered into her ear. The older of the twins frowned a bit at first, but then grinned and nodded. While the poor loser was going in his tirade, Lana had unbraided her hair and let it hang down. Then, Lola opened up their portable camp and handed her sister a change of clothes, letting her go into the tent while she watched Jordan get chewed out by the brat (who looked rather amused by it ).

After a minute or two, the tool savvy little girl emerged from the tent, looking like a dead ringer for her more beauty obsessed sister. She stood right by her side before she whistled at the raging rich boy. "Hey, Chuck!" She yelled, to rub a little more salt on the wound. He turned his wrathful gaze upon her, only for his jaw to drop. While Lana was a little taller, and just a bit stronger look, the resemblance was uncanny. The sweet silence and the look of disbelief on his face as he pointed between Lola and Lana was absolutely priceless to everyone present. Even more so when he came to the horrifying realization: he really did lose to a girl. He just whimpered for a moment, but then he let loose a wail of despair and wrath before he started to stomp off further down the road.

"Hey! Aren't you forgetting someone!?" The one son exclaimed with a disapproving tone, pointing at the exhausted dragon pokemon still in the mud. Charlemagne stopped for a moment, growling as he turned and speed walked to his unconscious battle monster, grabbed him by the tail and started dragging the poor pokemon behind him. "HEY!"

"THAT'S AS MUCH AS HE DESERVES!" The spoiled rich boy snapped back before he pulled out one of the wads of cash he tried to flex with earlier and tossed it over his shoulder. It landed on the ground and rolled along until it hit Lana's feet.

"That poor Axew…" Lana said, nearly in tears.

"That's no way to treat a pokemon," Lincoln concurred, an expression of hatred and disgust on his face. What he wouldn't give to just be able to pound Charlemagne into paste on the ground, and freed his Axew. However, he knew the law would take a dim view of that.

"...We'll talk to the police when we get to Oakenville, and see what they can do about it," Jordan suggested, looking as concerned and angry as the others. "Hopefully, they can do something…" Lana nodded in a melancholy manner as she looked down at the roll of dollars at her feet. She picked it up, and pocketed it, thinking she'd check it out later.

"So...were you able to find any pokemon to add to your team, Jordan?" Lincoln asked, in an effort to take his mind off the sad, infuriating scene he witnessed.

"Not really. Saw a few pokemon, but none of them I thought were really a good fit," She replied with a sigh. "How about you?"

"Caught a Munna earlier, along with a Vulpix."

"What's a Vulpix?" Lola inquired. Lincoln pulled up the fox pokemon's entry in his pokedex and turned it to show her. "Awww! So cute! I gotta have one!"

"I caught one of those," Lana piped up as she stepped out of her tent, handed Lola back her clothes, then packed up the campsite with the push of a button. "Among other things."

"How about you, Lola? How'd you fare?" The light brown haired teen girl asked as soon as they got going.

"Oh! I caught myself a handsome little Roselia and, get this, it was a shiny pokemon!" She informed them excitedly.

"What's a shiny pokemon?" Lana asked with a tilted head.

"My pokedex said it's a pokemon that's a different color from the others. Very rare it says," The pageant princess explained in a somewhat smug manner, which made her sister roll her eyes.

"Still, good for you, Lola," Her older brother said with a soft smile. "Quite the stroke of luck."

"No kidding. Way to go, Lo," Jordan agreed, which only made Lola's smug expression grow.

'Greeeeeeeat…' Lana thought with a groan. 'Like her ego needs more stroking…' She sighed quietly, but then smiled lightly. 'But still, it is kind of cool...and she's certainly happy about it. After what happened recently, that's just what we need: a little cheering up.' She considered as she followed her siblings and her latest friend. 'On the note of recent happenings, I'm going to need to revive my pokemon again...if only revives weren't so expensive…' She thought as her smile faded again. She reached into her pocket to pull out the prize money she had gotten from Charlemagne. "Well, at least Chuck contributed a little to-" Her words froze in her throat as she opened up the wad to count her winnings. "Sweet Arceus! There's nearly ten thousand dollars here!"
