"Ugh…"
It's time for school isn't it? It's currently 7:00 in the morning, and school doesn't start until 8:30. I really didn't want to wake up this early, I want more sleep! Only reason why I'm waking up this early, Lessica. I entered the bathroom to take a shower so I don't stink up the entire school with body odor. Unsurprisingly, I was joined inside the shower with Lessica, much to my dismay, and this is why I had to wake up early.
"So, today's the day that you attend school. Ready for possible hell?" Lessica asked.
"You know, if it weren't for what happened on Saturday, I wouldn't say it would be hell." I tell Lessica.
"What caused you to think that?"
"We already saw how bitter the Kaslanas and Schariacs are towards each other, and that was just 2 Kaslanas and a Schariac! It's highly likely that all 6 Kaslanas and Schariacs are gonna be at school today, and who knows what the fuck will happen?"
"Ooooh, good point. Hey, don't force me to control your body again." Lessica chuckled.
"Agh, shut up. I don't think you'll even be close to taking my body. Besides, I'm pretty sure that fighting during school hours is prohibited." I inform her.
"Hmph, well at least we can proceed this day peacefully, hopefully."
I took a shower for an astoundingly long 30 minutes, thanks to Lessica. When I came out, I was wrinkly as hell! Lessica needs to chill out when taking a shower. No one needs to stay in there for 30 minutes, even if you like showering or not.
"Lessica, can you not take a 30-minute shower? I don't have the patience, nor do you need to stay in there for that long." I complained.
"You do realize that you could just exit the shower anytime you want and just leave the shower on for me right? It doesn't take that much to think for yourself." Lessica dressed.
"But…whatever."
I dressed myself up in a simple white t-shirt and some blue jeans that I bought yesterday when I went shopping. Of course, I also wore my black fedora, and black wristbands because I really like them. I grabbed my wallet and phone and shoved them both in my pockets, and walked around my room. I walked over to the bookshelf. I still remember how Professor Sarah was extremely scared about me placing a book at a certain spot. It doesn't make any sense. I don't understand how placing a book at a certain place would freak someone out. Speaking of, what the hell is with this bookshelf? This bookshelf literally beeps the hell out of someone for placing a book at a wrong spot. What was the point of this, and why?
"Lessica, this is a weird bookshelf isn't it? It bleeps at you for positioning a book at the wrong spot. What kind of idiot makes a bookshelf that does that?" I chuckled.
…
No response.
"Lessica?"
"Hmmm?"
*KNOCK* *KNOCK*
Someone began knocking at my door. Assuming the only people who actually know where I reside, and seeing how early it is, it's most likely Reshia.
"Excuse me, Lessica."
I walked over to the door and opened it. As I guessed, Reshia was outside the door, carrying a bag on her forearm. Looking at the contents inside, it was probably things for breakfast.
"Morning, Reshia." I said.
"Good morning, Tendou." Reshia said back.
Reshia stepped inside and instantly walked over to the kitchen. She pulled out all the ingredients that she brought and laid them out on the table. Reshia brought eggs, some bacon, berries, salt, pepper, and some olive oil. Reshia went to work immediately on making me breakfast. With nothing else to do, I decided to watch her as she made my breakfast for me.
Reshia began by opening the egg carton, revealing some brown eggs. She grabbed a bowl from one of the cabinets and cracked a few eggs over it. She broke the eggs apart and began splitting the egg yolk from the whites over the bowl. After splitting about 3 eggs, she threw away the eggshells and yolk away in the trash. Reshia turned to the stove, turned it on to medium heat, and placed a pan over the fire. She pulled out the packet of bacon that she carried with her, and put 2 slices on the pan. The bacon that she put on the pan seemed different from the bacon that I had on my burger on Friday. Different type of bacon I suppose.
Going back to Reshia, she cooked them until they began turning a pretty dark red. Reshia used a pair of tongs to grab them out and placed them on a plate. Reshia pulled out the olive oil, and poured a bit onto the pan, causing it to fiercely bubble. She quickly poured the egg whites into the pan. The egg whites were cooking pretty fast, but Reshia didn't seem to be bothered. She began scrambling the whites as they were cooking and seasoned with salt and pepper. Reshia spent a few more minutes cooking the eggs before pouring them out on a plate. She brought the plate over to the table where I was spectating her.
"Enjoy."
"Thanks for the breakfast, Reshia."
I chowed down on her breakfast. In the meantime, Reshia went to go wash the berries that she brought at the sink. The breakfast, while filling, and delicious, was actually kind of small. It didn't really take that long to finish, roughly about 7 minutes. Nevertheless I was thankful for the meal. You know, I should probably ask her to teach me how to cook.
"Hey, thanks again for making me breakfast." I thanked Reshia.
"Say, you think you can teach me how to cook?"
Reshia, for some reason, froze in place. At this time, her back was facing me, and she was shaking a bit. Reshia didn't respond back to my question for a bit. When she did, her tone came off a bit off.
"Y-y-you want m-m-me t-to teach you how to cook?" Reshia asked with a heavily unstable tone.
I blinked my eyes a couple of times and tried to process her weird tone. Why was she so troubled over a simple request? It's just learning how to cook right? It doesn't seem too difficult.
"Hey, Reshia, is something the matter?" I politely ask.
"W-why do you want to learn how to cook?" Reshia asked.
"Uhh…I just want to learn how to cook so I can cook for myself."
Reshia began shuttering. I didn't like where this was going.
"Want to cook for yourself huh? So I guess you don't like my presence right? I guess you don't want me around, do you?" Reshia creepily stuttered.
Reshia began sniffing. She let out a few discomfort moans. Her legs were trembling and she sat on the ground.
"Maybe my parents were right, maybe everyone else was right. *sniff* *sniff*."
"I-is she crying?" Lessica asked.
Oh no, I think Lessica is right! Reshia looks like she's crying! I catapult myself off my chair and ran towards Reshia. I grab her shoulders and turned her to face me. She had tears sliding off of her face. Reshia's face was getting red from her crying, and she chose not to look at me in the eyes.
"No, no, no, no! I didn't say that! I just wanted you to teach me how to cook because I was interested. I never said that I didn't like your presence, in fact, I kind of find you to be comforting to be around." I told Reshia.
Except for the last part, I tried to tell Reshia the truth. Reshia finally looked at me with her eyes, which were gleaming with a bit of hope in them.
"You mean it?" She gushed.
"Yes, I mean it!" I declared.
"So, you mean that you won't leave me?"
That last statement confused the hell out of me. Leave her? Where did she come to that conclusion? I don't think anyone would ever think of leaving someone as kind, helpful, and caring as Reshia…..wait a minute, didn't I try to do that on Saturday? Ok, I'll fix my statement, maybe someone might leave her, but it's a low chance that someone would.
"Yeah, obviously. I would never leave you." I lied to her, trying to mask the lie behind a sincere tone.
Reshia sniffed a couple more times.
"Really? You promise?"
"Yes, I promise."
I helped lift Reshia off the ground after her slight tantrum. She sniffed one more time and wiped her tears off with a handkerchief. Afterward, she apologized.
"I'm sorry for making you go through that Tendou. It was foolish of me to act that way. I'll fix up this mistake by teaching you how to cook, ok."
I nodded my head at her response. Within a few seconds, Reshia went back to her usual demeanor of being a calm and caring, yet over obsessive maid. That was a bit odd seeing Reshia change personality so quickly, and over such a harmless statement.
"Huh, who knew the maid would be insecure about herself?" Lessica stated.
"Obviously not me!" I replied back.
"I'll admit, I knew she already had a bit of a problem, but I didn't think she would have an insane insecurity problem."
"Wait, how did you know that she already had a bit of a problem?"
"Saturday. When you tried escaping her, but failed miserably, she had that intense look on her face that didn't look malicious. Instead, it looked like she was trying her best to hide something. Later on, when you "died", she became desperate to revive you back, even though all the attempts she tried would've worsened your condition. When you did come back to life, or rather I did technically, she grabbed you in a tight hug." Lessica explained.
"Huh, now that I think about it, that's the first time I've truly seen someone care for another person that badly."
"Hah! See I told you. I would somehow find an example of how humans aren't bad!" I chortled.
"So you're just going to skip over the part that Reshia mentioned something about her parents and everyone else being right about something, right? Well, whatever she means by that, it seems that it is the primary reason why she has her insecurities, so that an example of humans being god awful. Guess we're even again."
…..Goddamit Lessica is good at coming back.
"Wow, this day already started off on an interesting note." I mentioned to Lessica.
"No kidding, If this is the first thing we see today, then maybe I was right about this day being hell. Actually, now that I think about it, how did Reshia think of abandonment from being asked how to cook? Those things don't correlate."
"Good point actually. I don't know what made her think that."
"You think it had something related to her parents? Is it possible that Reshia actually taught someone to cook which lead to abandonment somehow?"
"That doesn't seem plausible at all because I don't know how cooking causes abandonment issues, but if she reacted like this, then I mean, it could be a possibility."
*POKE*
"Tendou? Are you ok?" Reshia asked.
"Huh?"
Reshia gave me a poke to the cheek, garnering my attention. She had a bit of a confused and worried expression due to myself being out of reality for a bit.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I responded.
"We should probably go to the academy now."
"Agreed. Oh, but before we go." Reshia said.
She went back to the bag that she brought along and pulled out the set of clothes that I wore on Saturday during tryouts. Reshia took them, cleaned them, and sewed them back up for me.
"Wow, I forgot that I actually had these. Thanks Reshia!" I babbled.
Reshia could only chuckle at my response. I took the shirt and jeans and put them away, but I took the black jacket and wore it around my shoulders. With that out of the way, Reshia went towards the door and I soon followed. We entered the elevator and went down towards the first floor. After we reached the first floor, we headed for the academy, where we both saw an interesting sight. An airship had just docked outside of an area nearby the academy. The entrance to said airship opened, and many Valkyries and Chevaliers, unscathed, injured, and dead came out. Nearby, a medical team rushed out to bring in the injured and the dead. I think Doctor Enmu was one of the medical team members that rushed out. Passing by, I heard some disturbing stuff.
"A total of 37 Valkyries and Chevaliers. We only have 4 that are safe, 22 that are severely injured, and 5 that are dead. What happened to the rest 6?" One of the Doctors asked.
"The other 6 sadly abused their stigmata during the mission, resulting in them becoming zombies." A Valkyrie replied.
"To save ourselves, we were forced to kill them." The Valkyrie stuttered.
The Valkyrie started to cry and fell down on the ground. She huddled herself into a sitting fetal position and began having a panic attack. Some of the medical members rushed towards her and tried to calm her down. They carried her away, presumably to the medical bay to try to calm her down. Seems to me that she might be suffering from possible survivor's guilt, but I can't clarify. What the girl said earlier though, about zombifying due to abuse of a stigmata? Such a thing is possible?
"Reshia, I would like to ask. What does zombifying have to do with a stigmata?"
Reshia didn't seem to have the most amused look, in fact, she seemed a bit uncomfortable about the question. Nevertheless, she still answered.
"A stigmata is essentially what holds a person's Honkai energy. It helps keeps the Honkai energy stable inside a person, and stops it from harming someone. The stigmata are actually how us Valkyries and Chevaliers have so much power because the stigmata let us use Honkai energy to its benefit without being harmed normally. Depending on what stigmata is given to you, it grants you certain abilities that you can use to your benefit in combat. However, over-reliance on those abilities and abuse of them can cause the energy flow to be rampant and causes the user to cascade. Cascading will turn the user into a mindless Honkai zombie."
"There, I hope that explains a bit." Reshia said.
"Right. Though that just gives me another question, this time, about myself. What does my stigmata do for me?" I asked.
Reshia answered immediately.
"Before I tell you the actual answer, I believe I need to tell you the different types of stigmatas. The first, and most common type of stigmata is an "Artificial Stigmata". An Artificial Stigmata is a stigmata made by fusing compatible bloodlines with Honkai energy. These types of stigmatas are injected inside all of our Valkyries and Chevaliers for higher Honkai resistance, but these are imperfect. They have a risk to cascade over time and can cascade if the ability is abused. Similarly, it can shorten the lifespan of a user."
The last statement caught me off guard. Shorten the lifespan of a user, wasn't that stated in the Anti-Entropy book? Wait, Reshia works for Schicksal, so how does she know? Does Schicksal actually tell their warriors this information? God, this is a bit much to process right now. Reshia continued her explanation.
"The other type of stigmatas are "Natural Stigmatas". Natural Stigmatas are much stronger than Artificial ones, and can allow a user to undergo metamorphosis to be adaptable to Honkai energy even better. They usually come with a better ability than Artificial ones. When someone does activate a Natural Stigmata, it usually overrides an Artificial one, and removes the negative effects of it, so Natural Stigmata bearers don't suffer from cascading or a shortened lifespan."
Natural Stigmata huh. That's something new. I don't think I ever read anything about a Natural Stigmata in any of the books I found in Arastan City. A Natural stigmata actually sounds pretty cool!
"So, Natural Stigmatas completely negate the negative effects of an Artificial Stigmata. How does one obtain a Natural stigmata?" I questioned Reshia.
"A Natural Stigmata is not something that can be implemented with technology. A Natural Stigmata is passed down from bloodlines, so they can't be obtained like an Artificial Stigmata. So far, I only know of three families that have the ability to obtain Natural Stigmatas, and those are the Kaslanas, the Schariacs, and the Graham family."
"The Kaslanas and the Schariacs? Oh, so that's why people consider them the strongest, it's because they have Natural Stigmatas." I stated.
"But who the hell are the Graham family?" I asked.
"…..I don't want to talk about them." Reshia responded.
Strangely, Reshia refused to answer my question, showing both discomfort and disgust at the thought of the Graham family. I want to know about them, but if it really makes her that disgusted, then I guess I should avoid talking about them.
"Activating a Natural Stigmata is not easy from what I'm told, but I don't know how they are activated." Reshia admitted.
"Fair enough, but you still haven't answered my question, what stigmata am I bearing, and what is its ability?" I asked.
Reshia and I continued walking towards the academy where the injured Valkyries and Chevaliers were being carried towards. Around the academy building were other Valkyries and Chevaliers who were taking sight of the injured soldiers. I could hear subtle comments made from some of the bystanders, both empathetic, and discourteous.
"Those poor soldiers, it's terrible seeing so many D-Ranks and C-Ranks getting injured."
"I know, but it was bound to be this way. They aren't as experienced as us."
"I wish we could have joined them, we would have been able to prevent most of this."
"Don't mind them babe. Those low rank losers don't need the help from us S-Ranks. They just need to accept the reality that they will die if they don't improve fast enough."
Some of the comments I heard were both sad, and just outright disgusting. Finally, Reshia and I entered the academy where many other Valkyries and Chevaliers were roaming inside. It was here when Reshia finally answered my question after giving it much thought.
"Sorry to say Tendou, but I can't answer your question. First off, when we implanted you with Artificial Stigmatas during your examination, that stigmata got overwritten by another stigmata. Secondly, the stigmata that you currently bear radiates differently than other stigmatas. A stigmata usually illuminates in a bright red color, but yours is different. Yours is blue in color." Reshia said.
"Sorry to say, but I can't clarify what your stigmata does for you."
Huh, my stigmata is unique? As in, it's not artificial, and it's a different color? Could this be due to Lessica's aid? I mean she did help me survive by giving me Honkai energy so maybe she had a hand in changing my stigmata. Wait, I just realized something, Lessica gave me Honkai energy. How the fuck does she have some before my examination, and how can she control it? There shouldn't be a way for her to have such a thing. Will she answer my question though, most likely not, so is it even worth asking? Nah.
"Well that suck I guess, but can you at least try to analyze what type of stigmata I have?" I asked Reshia.
"I don't think I can answer that as well. It's definitely not an Artificial Stigmata since it overrides itself over an actual Artificial Stigmata that we were going to implement, and you don't come from a family who would bear a Natural Stigmata, or not any family that we know of yet since even you don't know where you're from, right?" Reshia said.
"You're right, I don't know my lineage yet." I admitted.
"Fucking amnesia, am I right?"
It was now 8:15 AM, just 15 minutes before school starts. Since Otto has forced Reshia to follow me at all times, my schedule is forced to be the same as hers. My first class is apparently Honkai Biology, which, from what Reshia told me, is about how Honkai monsters work. Since I am a late bloomer in this academy, I am far behind everyone, so this is gonna suck! So not only am I most likely going to suffer from lack of knowledge, but I'll most likely meet some odd people as well if Reshia, and Maya are two people that already creep me out. And I'm going to have to live with this? Better start adapting now….
Reshia's Perspective
Master Tendou and I had 15 minutes before the first class began. Since we still had a lot of time, I decided to bring Master Tendou to the mission board to get it, and my anxiety out of the way. I did not want Master Tendou to go to the mission board to sign up for a mission, but it is going to be inevitable. The Overseer was definitely going to sign Master Tendou up for a mission because he seems to know what Master Tendou is capable of. I'm afraid the Overseer will try to sign Master Tendou up for a high-end mission, so I have to get him to sign up for an easy mission.
We walked over to the mission board, where many types of missions were planted on the board, ranging from killing a couple of Honkai beast to eradicating an entire city of zombies. There were other Valkyries and Chevaliers who were also signing up for missions. Master Tendou and I waited around the board until we had enough space to cram into and sign up.
"I know the world wants to defeat the Honkai as fast as possible, but isn't it a bit risky to send people with little to no combat experience to go into combat against deadly monsters?" Master Tendou mentioned.
I knew he was going to ask this question. There is actually an answer to his question, and it's a bit of the sad one.
"It's definitely risky, and in the last civilization we had before this one, Schicksal didn't allow D-Ranks and C-Ranks to enter combat. They stayed on the airships to either do janitor duty, medical duty, cafeteria duty, and other non-combat things. Only B-Ranks and higher would fight the monsters. However, it has only been 22 years since the Honkai came back to massacre us, and we didn't know that they would attack. The Honkai has also been stronger than we expected, dealing more damage than it has in the Second Civilization when it came back during that period. Because of this, we have gone out of desperation to force inexperienced warriors to fight in missions, sometimes out of rank. It's sad really, I feel like it more so delays the Honkai, rather than defeating it." I stated.
"So we're that desperate to defeat the Honkai. Kind of a sad reality we live in." Master Tendou lamented.
I nodded my head in agreement.
After a couple of minutes, Master Tendou and I were one of the few left at the mission board. Most of the missions had already been filled out. One of the only ones left that had more than one spot was a B-Rank mission. The B-Rank mission was about a certain Honkai beast, who was found outside of the United Kingdom. According to eyewitnesses, this beast has leveled a part of London along with other Honkai beasts. The certain Honkai beast mentioned had a different appearance than other beasts. Instead of the white and purple-pinkish color, it was black and orange in color, and had a unique appearance among other Honkai monsters, being a bit Chinese dragon-like. Out of the maximum 20 spots open, there were only 3 open spots left. Master Tendou walked over to look at the mission, and the names listed under the mission.
"A unique Honkai beast…wait B-Rank?! I can't do this mission!" Master Tendou yelled.
"Wait…Ino Kaslana? Why is a Kaslana signed under a B-Rank mission?" He asked.
"Oh, it's actually announced Ee-no, not Eye-no." A voice corrected from the back.
Master Tendou and I turned around to meet two girls who were walking over to us, or rather the board. Both girls sported white hair, though one of them had extremely long hair that reached down to her thighs, while the other had shorter hair that only reached to her nape. They were both Ino Kaslana, the second eldest child of the Kaslana family, and Claudia Kaslana, the eldest child of the family.
"Ah, Ino and Claudia, it's nice to see you in the morning." I greeted.
Ino Kaslana, age 22, is an S-Rank Valkyrie who was the second born of the Kaslana family line. Like a majority of her siblings, she uses dual pistols for her weapon of choice and uses gun-kata, but she does know how to fight with an axe. She, like every single one of her siblings, has snow-white hair, and hers is cut short to her neck. Ino has ocean blue eyes, like the majority of her siblings, do. Ino has a well-developed body, bearing a large and ample chest, and a fine behind, yet she still has enough muscles to show her physicality. Ino is sort of tall, measuring at 5'8". Personality-wise, Ino is pretty doting on her friends and family and treats people kindly, maybe a bit too kind. She is stated by many to be over pampering. It's something that Kathlynn isn't fond about, and argues with Ino about as Kathlynn believes that people need to be harsh on others when needed, while Ino believes that you should never be harsh on friends.
Claudia Kaslana, age 24, is the oldest Kaslana child, and of course, an S-Rank Valkyrie. Now unlike the majority of her siblings, she doesn't use dual pistols. Claudia is actually the wielder of one of our 4 divine keys, though technically her key is actually two keys. She is the wielder of both the Black Abyss and White Flower, the divine key made using the Core of Tranquility. The Black Abyss is a black sword that has the ability to decompose anything it touches if the user chooses to do so. White Flower, a lance has the opposite ability to regenerate and recover anything that is alive. If the user can master this, they can have the ability to control life and death. The Black Abyss and White Flower can actually combine into one divine key which has the combined abilities of both weapons to a greater extent.
Going back to Claudia, she has long, snow-white hair that reaches down to her thighs, both from the back of her head, and a few gathered strands on the sides of her head. A unique trait of her hair however, is that she dyed the ends of her hair with a violet-gray color. Claudia also grew part of her hair in the front to cover a mask, which covered her right eye. This mask that she wore was also violet-gray in color like the ends of her hair. It covered her right eye, and part of her side of the head, and had a devil-like horn that was attached to the left side of the mask. The mask is able to stick on her face thanks to a glue that acts similarly to sticky putty, that can easily help Claudia take off, and reattach the mask on. With the only open eye that Claudia shows, she actually has unique colored eyes in comparison to her siblings. Her eyes are a neon pinkish-purple for a majority of the eye, with part of her eye at the top being a very dark violet. She actually shares her eye color with her father, Kazuto, rather than having ocean blue eyes like her mother, Krystal. Like Ino, Claudia has a very well-developed body, but she is less muscular. Height wise, Claudia is very tall. Standing at 6'3", she towers over her siblings and mother, while being a bit taller than her father, Kazuto, who stands at 6 foot straight. The only person who is taller than her is the Overseer, and Master Tendou. Mysteriously, she bears a scar around her neck that circles the entirety of it. I don't know how she got this scar.
Claudia's personality is kind of unexpected. Unlike her appearance which makes one think that she is always a serious Valkyrie who is strong on the battlefield, and will always be critical of one's actions, Claudia is actually kind of forgiving. While there is no denying that she is strong, those who know her personally will actually know that Claudia has some low self-esteem. Not only that, but unlike her siblings who have many friends, following fans, and adorers, Claudia has little friends. Claudia still has her fans and such, but she chooses to ignore them. Claudia is socially awkward, and shy, though she doesn't show them. The reason for this, is because Claudia is mute. She doesn't talk at all. Claudia gets her messages through either sign language, which mostly fails, or writes her words in a notebook. This has made it difficult for Claudia to build a proper relationship with her family, who Claudia decides to distance herself from to not burden them with her disability. This has led to her having an awkward relationship with them.
"Good Morning, Reshia." Ino greeted as she waved back.
"Who is this person with you? I haven't seen him around the academy ever." She said as she looked at Master Tendou.
"Oh this? This is Tendou. He is actually a new student at this academy." I answered back.
"Hello." Master Tendou greeted.
"Oh, so you're the one who laid a beating on both my little sister, and Darwin on Saturday, and you are a new student at this academy? You must be pretty strong already!" Ino complemented.
"Eh…not really….." Master Tendou answered doubtfully.
"Not really, what do you mean by that?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
*DING* *DING*
"CLASS BEGINS IN 5 MINUTES, CLASS BEGINS IN 5 MINUTES!" The intercom announced.
"Ah shit, class is about to begin. Well, see you in class Reshia!" Master Tendou yelled before running off.
"Wait! Tendou you haven't even signed up for a mission yet!" I yelled out, but he was too far to hear my words.
Ah, Master Tendou, why did you abandon me again? At least I know that you'll be in my class, but still, could you have at least signed up for the mission. Gah, I'll sign you up for the B-Rank mission, and I'll sign myself up for it as well. I registered Master Tendou's name and my own under Ino's name. Now there was only one spot left.
"Looks like it's almost time for class, I'll be heading off now. See you later Reshia." Ino bid adieu.
"See you later." I bid farewell.
Ino left to head for her class, leaving only me and Claudia. Claudia walked over to the mission board and scanned all the available missions left. There was an S-Rank mission with an open spot left, but surprisingly enough, Claudia went over to the B-Rank mission that Ino, Master Tendou, and I signed up for, and registered her name there.
"Um…Claudia, don't you think it's a bit much to have you, Ino, and I under the same B-Rank mission? I get that I will always be with Master Tendou who was forced to sign under this mission since it was the only one with more than one spot open, and Ino signed on before us, but that's already 2 S-Rank Valkyries before you. Don't you think you coming along with us is overkill?"
Claudia turned her head to face me and shook her head. She dropped the pen on the board and left to go to her class. I looked back at the board to scan over the names listed for the mission. I don't know a majority of the names listed, so I'm assuming that they are mostly overconfident D-Ranks and C-Ranks. I guess that's why Claudia signed up, guess she's worried about them. Well, I think it's time for me to go to Honkai Biology now.
"Tendou, you klutz, you forgot to sign up for the mission, so I had to do it for you." I scolded him as I entered the classroom.
"Ah shit, I did? Sorry about that Reshia." Master Tendou chuckled.
I walked over towards Master Tendou, who decided to pick a seat that was in the dead center of the class. Honestly wished he chose a desk near the wall or window instead. Luckily there was a seat next to him that was empty. As I sat down next to Master Tendou and tried to initiate a conversation, I could hear some Valkyries and Chevaliers whisper amongst each other.
"Wait, why is Reshia talking to that dude, who the hell is that dude anyways?"
"I believe it's that new person that Kathlynn recovered on Friday. I can't confirm though."
"I've seen Reshia be attached to that guy for a while now. Why is an S-Rank following a new person?"
"I don't know, I can't seem to see why she would serve him. Maybe the Overseer told her to, but I don't see why the Overseer would do such a thing."
"I agree. The new guy just looks like a completely ordinary person. No one would have a huge obsession over him like how people obsess themselves over the Kaslanas, Schariacs, or even Kyle."
The Valkyries and Chevaliers were whispering about my servitude towards Master Tendou, how odd it was, and about Master Tendou himself. With the "social hierarchy" the academy has with the ranks, this was bound to happen, but calling Master Tendou an "ordinary" person, is very much an understatement. I can abide to the fact that he won't have fans like the Kaslanas, Schariacs, and sadly Kyle, but that doesn't mean that he is just an average person. Speaking of Kyle…
"Look, here comes Kyle!" A Valkyrie shouted.
Just as the announcement from the Valkyrie spread across the room, Kyle Graham made his appearance in the room. Kyle Graham is an S-Rank Chevalier who hails from a rich family. While he may not be a Kaslana or a Schariac, he still bears a Natural Stigmata. Kyle Graham hails from a father who works as a lawyer, who has been undefeated in every court case that he has attended. That being said, his father also has a lot of political power inside Crescent City, which has scared people away from messing with Kyle. This has kind of spoiled Kyle, by a lot. When I say by a lot, that is a 100% understatement.
See Kyle, in my opinion, is sort of a brat. He follows the academy's "social hierarchy" and will oppress others lower than him. He will go to the extreme just to antagonize others for his personal entertainment. How far is he willing to go? Who knows. Now on the outside, if you are a girl, he may seem like a nice guy, trying to make it seem like he genuinely cares about you, tries to make everything about you, and treat you like a princess, but that's the thing, Kyle will make you think that he will. In reality, he just wants to stick his erection inside you. Kyle has a maniacal libido that he will try to satisfy. He just wants to mess with your body for himself. How do I know this? I have friends that have fallen under his trickery. They say how Kyle has given them expensive jewelry, treated them like queens, and how they slept with him. Kyle only brags about how he slept with them and berates the girls for easily falling for him behind their backs. Why hasn't he gotten punished? Three reasons, one, his father with his political power, and two, because he never berates the girls when they're nearby, and three, money. Because he is a rich boy, he already attracts blind girls or gold diggers. This probably isn't the worst thing however.
Kyle has, and I kid you not, a harem. He legit has a harem that will always follow him around when possible, and that he always treats like kings, just to have sex with them later. The girls in the harem, all know that he does this, yet they still follow him. Maybe it's because I'm not comfortable with a harem, but who the hell is?
That being said, while he may be a massive douche, I can't deny his prowess. He is a formidable Chevalier on the battlefield who can get the job done precisely. He mainly uses a mech that uses a laser beam, but he is talented in using guns, and halberds. Not only that, but outside appearance-wise, Kyle wasn't a bad looking man. Long brown hair with long side bangs, a well-toned and fit body, and beautiful green eyes, it's not hard to see why someone would fall for him. Man, I feel disgusted just admitting that to myself. I hope Master Tendou doesn't turn out the same as him.
"Ah ladies, please, don't mind me. You're too much." Kyle lied, trying to mask his mischief with innocence.
A majority of the girls just fangirl over him as he walked inside the classroom to the only empty seat left, which was-, oh no, oh god! The last seat was next to Master Tendou! This is not going to end well for Master Tendou.
"So, who might you be?" Kyle said while looking at Master Tendou.
"I'm Tendou, nice meeting you." Master Tendou said.
Suddenly, Kyle hastily reached his right hand out, and harshly grabbed Master Tendou's collar. He lifted him up slightly, leaving Master Tendou confused.
"Tendou huh? You're the one who beat up my poor little Kathlynn right? I'll admit, for being someone new, you have a lot of strength, but that doesn't stop you from being a low-life. If you try to come after Kathlynn, or any one of my princesses, I will personally beat you up." Kyle threatened.
"You know, I get that "I" did hurt Kathlynn, but don't you think you're being a bit harsh?" Master Tendou asked.
*SLAM*
Out of nowhere, one of Kyle's fangirls slammed Master Tendou's head against his desk. She lifted his head up by his fedora and looked at him dead on the eyes.
"Don't you dare talk back to Kyle like that!" She yelled.
"Aw, come on! I'm just trying to make a point-."
*SLAM* *SLAM* *SLAM*
The girl, now with two other girls slammed Master Tendou's head on his desk. I'm pretty sure his nose broke upon the second impact. I knew I had to step in at this point.
"Hey! All of you, stop this now!" I ordered.
"Sorry, Reshia, but I can't allow a D-Rank to insult Kyle like that." One of the girls said.
"But Tendou didn't even insult him." I stated.
The girls ignored me. One of them lifted Master Tendou's head back up. Master Tendou's eyes were closed, but his voice was different. His teeth were clutched, and his voice was growling, but it wasn't growling normally. His growl had a hint of a feminine voice behind it, like how it was on Saturday during that incident. My heart started to tremble, and would completely stop when his eyes would open, revealing amethyst purple eyes, and his braid was now silver.
"Tendou, no, you mustn't!" I yelled.
Master Tendou raised his hand to his chest as if he was about to summon another hand-blade like he did on Saturday. However, he was suddenly stopped when his eyes flickered back to its cobalt blue color, his braid returned back to brown, and the professor came into the classroom.
"Alright, everyone sit down. Class is about to begin-oh my god, what the hell are you girls doing to the new student?!" The professor yelled.
The girls let go of Master Tendou's head and made a lie to the professor.
"Uh, we were trying to take care of the new student. As you can see, his nose is bleeding."
"If you were trying to take care of him, then why does he have such a hostile expression towards you three?"
The girls couldn't respond to the professor's comeback, so they went back to their seats and just sat down. I went over to wipe Master Tendou's nose as his nose began healing itself. The professor went back towards the front of the classroom and began class. The professor was Professor Esponoza. Professor Esponoza was a fairly tall lady, standing at 5'8". She stood a bit taller today since she was wearing high heels. Professor Esponoza had long pink hair that reached down her entire back, and she had some bangs that were close to covering her left eye. To match with her hair color, Professor Esponoza's eyes were also pink. Professor Esponoza has an extremely well-developed body. Having a large and ample chest, and a fine round behind, many people say that Professor Esponoza looks like a model who just jumped straight out of a catalog. Currently, she was wearing a button-up shirt that was maybe a bit too tight for her, especially up at her chest, a short skirt that was practically hugging her thighs, and I think a garter-belt.
Other than her appearance, Professor Esponoza is a pretty well-respected teacher among most students. She is a Valkyrie, an S-Rank one at that, though she doesn't fight as much. She is mostly used as a last resort in case our current generations can't handle the threat. That being said, she does spar with some students if asked, and well…..it ends as anyone would expect.
Professor Esponoza isn't really kind, but she isn't rude either. I guess the best way to describe her is strict. She is harsh on her students so she can get her message forward, and will be somewhat critical about how a student performs. But she is willing to understand other student's circumstances if they are unable to perform to expectation. I hope she's like that for Master Tendou.
"Alright class, let's ignore the drama that occurred earlier and start the day off much better." She said.
"Professor Esponoza, if I may, can I get this low-rank next to me to move to a different place?" Kyle asked.
"You know, you didn't have to ask me if you had just asked another person for their desk instead of just instantly choosing the one next to the new student." Professor Esponoza fired back.
"Yeah, but I'm an S-Rank Chevalier. I don't see the reason why I should-."
"On the battlefield, your rank might matter to some, but in the classroom, it means jack shit. Now go switch your desk with someone, or stay there. Your choice, Kyle."
Nothing happened. Kyle scoffed it off and just sat in his original desk next to Master Tendou. Master Tendou scoffed at the fact that Kyle decided to stay in his seat for the class. Professor Esponoza began the class off, as usual, leaving off where the class had left off on Friday. Because of this, Master Tendou was left bewildered on the subject. Sure, he was still technically learning some things, but since a good amount of what we learned in class today required prior knowledge of the previous weeks, he didn't know the full picture. Luckily, since I've been through this lesson many times, as I've been at this academy for a while, I can just teach Master Tendou every previous lesson. I'm glad that I'm graduating next April. Claudia, myself, and other people who have been here for 8 years are graduating this year since 8 years is the full education for the school. Now I don't have to go through this full cycle of relearning things I already know since apparently, the education for every year is the same, with slight differences being new things the world learns about the Honkai.
"Alright, now if you have any questions about this lesson, please ask them now, since I won't be answering them after I pass out this quiz." Professor Esponoza announced.
"Yeah, several!" Master Tendou shouted.
"Tendou, that's your name right? I know that you just joined us recently, but surely you should have some background knowledge about the Honkai, right?" Professor Esponoza asked.
Master Tendou shook his head in accordance with Professor Esponoza's question, leaving her puzzled.
"Sorry, but I don't have knowledge of anything, and I mean it literally. I just came here after waking up from Arastan City and looks like I have amnesia as well. So I actually know nothing, and being placed mid-lesson doesn't help does it?" Master Tendou stated.
Professor Esponoza couldn't respond to Master Tendou's statement. She, and by extension, most of the classroom were aghast to learn that Master Tendou suffered from amnesia. Whispers circulated around the room like wildfire about how Tendou suffered from this, and what he was like before. It got a bit out of hand that Professor Esponoza had to calm the class down.
"Hey! I get it, amnesia is a unique thing to talk about, but we have a quiz that we need to get through, now take out a pen or pencil and prepare for the quiz."
With that statement, everyone calmed down. Professor Esponoza passed out quizzes to everyone, including Master Tendou, however, when she gave him his quiz, Professor Esponoza stated,
"Don't worry about this too much, I won't hold this accountable towards your overall grade."
Kyle overheard Professor Esponoza's assurance. He grinned slightly before opening his pie hole.
"Yo, Professor Esponoza, can you make this quiz not accountable towards my grade as well, please? I promise to take you to dinner at the finest of restaurants that Crescent City has to offer." Kyle cooed.
*SMACK*
"OW! What the hell was that for?" Kyle asked.
"For the suggestion of even going out with me. First off, I already have a boyfriend that I'm dating, and secondly, you already do good in all of your classes. You shouldn't even need a reason for getting a pass." Professor Esponoza retorted.
"But-."
"No buts! And before you even try suing me using your dad, just know that I have the Overseer on my side."
Professor Esponoza shot Kyle down and continued passing out the quiz. Some of Kyle's fangirls were silently growling at Professor Esponoza out of ignorance. Thank god I'm not one of them. The quiz itself wasn't that long, only 20 questions. Because I've been through this entire lesson so many times, I easily filled out every question with the correct answer and expected to pass with flying colors. I stood up to go turn the quiz in for grading by Professor Esponoza. As expected, I passed with flying colors. I returned to my seat to look at Master Tendou's quiz. Of course, he got many answers wrong, but at least he managed to fill in the correct answers for most of the questions relating to today's topic, so I guess that means he's a fast learner, I think? He could have just gotten those out of pure luck.
10 minutes pass by for the quiz, and Master Tendou, unsurprisingly, was the last one to turn his quiz in. By now, it was almost time for the 2-hour class to end as the clock reached 10:28 AM. Everyone was now standing up and getting ready to depart for their next class. Master Tendou was laying on top of his desk. He already seemed stressed over the day, wanting to go home already. I don't really blame him, but there's a slight part in me that feels like that he shouldn't have the right to feel this stressed. I had to go through the same thing for many years, I feel like I should be more stressed, though that may be just me.
*DING* *DING*
First class ended. A majority of people rushed out of the door to go to their next class. Master Tendou, Kyle, a few other girls, and I were the only ones left in the classroom. Master Tendou was about to stand-up and leave before Kyle stood in his way.
"So amnesiac boy. Tell me, did you make up that lie just so you could "pass" that quiz?" Kyle mocked.
Master Tendou ignored his question and stood up. Now, by no means is Kyle a small person. He was taller than me by a bit, but he was still shorter than Master Tendou. Kyle and the girls who were spectating us were both surprised at Master Tendou's height. While the height of a person never fascinated me in the first place, Master Tendou's height, and overall size does bother me a bit. He was taller than a majority of the Valkyries and Chevaliers in the school, and beefier than any male. He's extremely beefy that his pectoral muscles can be slightly seen on the curving of his shirt. Now I know that he suffers from amnesia and that no one knows what his backstory is, but you would think that someone who looks this physically strong would already be a Chevalier, but I don't remember seeing the name, Tendou anywhere in the student archives. However, it's a possibility that his name wasn't Tendou.
"Hey! Aren't you going to answer my question?"
Master Tendou looked at Kyle, before leaving off. Kyle, noticeably a bit pissed, tried stomping towards him, but I stepped forward in front of him and stopped him. Kyle looked at me before grinning.
"Oh Reshia, it's fancy meeting you here." Kyle said.
"Odd introduction considering that we both have this class, but whatever." I replied.
"So, have you given my date offer a try yet?" Kyle said suavely.
"Don't need to. I've made up my mind a long time ago. I'm not going out with you." I scoffed while trying to leave.
Kyle wasn't having any of that. He walked up and wrapped his arm around my neck. Kyle tried to lure me into his grip, by trying to captivate me with the same things that he used on Professor Esponoza. I grab his hand and threw it off of me. I walked away, trying to catch up to Master Tendou who was on his way to our next class. Master Tendou hadn't gotten far from me, only going a few feet away. Our next class was Battle Tactics, which, true to its name, was about battle tactics against the Honkai. Hopefully Master Tendou will have a much easier time since unlike Biology, Battle Tactics don't require prior knowledge from the previous lessons to understand the current lesson. Our next class was on the opposite side of the building, so it took us a while to get to the next class.
I know it's a random thought to have right now, but even though it's only been roughly 3 hours since breakfast, I'm already a bit hungry. I can't wait for our next class to finish since afterwards is an hour and a half lunch break. Speaking of lunch, I still remember that Master Tendou wants to learn how to cook. Maybe I will teach him how to cook food for lunch.
We reached the next classroom with about 3 minutes to spare. Outside the door across from us was a large mob, mostly of females. The mob was behind a man who was reading a book while walking towards our classroom. The man had slicked back, blonde hair, that grew out long enough to go past his neck and barely reached the back of his shoulders. He stood around 6'2", just barely shorter than Claudia. The man also sported cobalt blue eyes, like Master Tendou, which were layered over by the man's pair of glasses. He was currently wearing a long red jacket that reached down to his ankles with a white tank top alongside blue jeans, and brown loafers. This man was Desmond Schariac, the eldest of the Schariac family.
Desmond is an S-Rank Chevalier. He is the user of another one of our divine keys, technically two, but it's a similar case to Claudia. Desmond is the user of the Xuanyuan Sword, and the Grips of Taixuan. Now previously in both the First Civilization and the Second, the Xuanyuan Sword and the Grips of Taixuan were both two different keys, though in the same family. However, Schicksal managed to fuse both keys together so that the user can manipulate the keys to switch between either the Xuanyuan Sword or the Grips of Taixuan. So, as expected, Desmond would be proficient in using swords, and hand to hand combat, though strangely Desmond is pretty good at using a halberd.
Personality-wise, Desmond is a pretty quiet person. Now unlike Claudia, he can actually talk, he just doesn't talk much. If he is given the option to just wave hello instead of saying it, he will just wave. I don't know why he chooses not to speak, but he still does talk if needed. When he does talk, his voice is pretty low, but Desmond is a kind person. He will treat people as equals despite being in a noble family. That being said, he is a bit self-centered. Desmond isn't as self-centered as Kyle, who thinks the whole world is about him, but Desmond will put his care over the care of others first. Due to this attitude, he doesn't have many personal friends that he hangs out with.
I waved to Desmond to say hello. Desmond was able to see my wave from his book and waved back. Master Tendou, Desmond, and I entered our next classroom where Desmond and Master Tendou sat next to each other out of pure coincidence. Desmond waved his hand at Master Tendou, who waved back awkwardly.
"Hello, nice meeting you." Master Tendou said.
"So, what's your name?"
Desmond placed a bookmark inside his book and stored it away in a tiny pouch that he was carrying. He adjusted his glasses slightly higher against his nose and turned to look at Master Tendou.
"My name is Desmond Schariac. It's nice meeting you." Desmond introduced.
"Desmond Schariac huh? So you're a member of the Schariac family. My name is Tendou, I hope that name doesn't bother you." Master Tendou introduced himself.
"Tendou? Ah, so you're the one who bested my little brother on Saturday. You know, I should be a bit mad since you did a number on him, but considering that you just arrived on Friday, I'm quite impressed that you managed to do so well against an S-Rank Chevalier."
Master Tendou's welcoming expression instantaneously changed to a discomfort expression. He looked away and down at his desk where he was cringing.
"Oh….I don't want to talk about that….." Master Tendou enunciated while pushing his fedora down with both hands.
"If I'm going to be fair about that bout, "I" caught him off-guard, and that's how I managed to beat him."
Desmond chuckled a bit at Master Tendou's humbleness towards that fight.
"Hey, don't sweat it. You may have caught him off-guard, but you still managed to brutalize him even when he should have had his guard up by now, so don't discredit yourself." Desmond reassured.
Master Tendou now looked a bit worse. He pushed his fedora down a bit further. His mouth opened to whisper something to himself, but I was not able to make the most of it. The only thing I could clearly hear was "not me". Not me? Um, what does he mean by not me? Is he saying that someone else was laying down that beating on Saturday? That seems a bit crazy doesn't it? I mean blaming something on someone who doesn't really exist seems a bit odd. Did Master Tendou's amnesia come with schizophrenia as well? Possibly.
"Alright my lovely Valkyries and Chevaliers! It's time for class to begin!" The professor said.
The professor of our next class walked in. The professor, another lady was relatively short, standing at about 5'3". She had blonde hair that was relatively long, reaching to the middle of her back. The professor didn't really have bangs as her hair was swept towards the sides. She was wearing a yellow frilly dress that contained a large skirt, white garter-belts, and orange low heels. This was Professor Palma.
Professor Palma was a pretty cheerful teacher, maybe a bit too cheerful. She always lightens the mood inside the classroom with her enthusiastic personality. Professor Palma is usually called "Happy, go, lucky." by everyone. However, she isn't always cheerful. Professor Palma is susceptible to heavy mood swings if she remembers one thing. If she remembers that one thing, which is most likely, then she becomes quite brooding and depressed.
Now like Professor Esponoza, she was also an S-Rank Valkyrie, but unlike her, who is pretty serious and strict on the battlefield, Professor Palma is a klutz. She trips pretty often on the battlefield, and sometimes accidentally attacks allies when she does a big attack. That being said, it's undeniable that she is a formidable Valkyrie.
"Now then my lovely little warriors, how has your day been?" Professor Palma asked.
Within a couple of minutes, many of us shared some bits of their day and some good news. Of course, Master Tendou didn't say anything as his day….well, it hasn't been the best. My day hasn't been that great either, especially in the morning with my misunderstanding of Master Tendou's words. Desmond didn't say anything either since he was busy…..playing with a TechDeck Skateboard. I mean, knowing him for a long time, I knew he was fond of those miniature skateboards, but I'm still weirded out about how a noble family member would be interested in such a thing. So Desmond's skateboard caught the fascination of both Master Tendou and I as we were technically staring at it while everyone else was talking to Professor Palma. It wasn't until Professor Palma walked over to the three of us that we actually paid our attention back to her.
"Oh my, what a handsome fellow we have here?" Professor Palma murmured while staring straight at Master Tendou.
Master Tendou was caught a bit off guard at her remark.
"Uh…thanks I guess?" He replied.
Professor Palma smiled and sat on top of his desk. She crossed her legs and pushed her hair back a bit with her hands. Master Tendou was left confused, and everyone else was either trying to hold in their laughter or just sighing at the site, knowing what was about to happen. Desmond and I were in the latter group.
"You know, if you weren't one of my students, I would have asked you on a date right now." Professor Palma seductively said as she caressed her hand under Master Tendou's chin.
Master Tendou's mouth was moving, but he wasn't saying anything. I believe his mouth was trying to say "What the fuck?" though he could be saying something else, but it probably would've been somewhere along the lines of "What the fuck?".
"Actually, you know what, I could just ask you either way! I don't see anything wrong with asking such a handsome man on a date." Professor Palma flirted.
"Alright, I'm going to stop you right here." Master Tendou said.
"First off, it hasn't even been 10 minutes since I've met you. Secondly, I don't think asking someone to date you is the first thing that you should ask someone who you just met. Thirdly, asking someone who you just met on a date seems ridiculous, doesn't it?"
The class remained silent. Professor Palma's charming smile slowly faded away and was replaced by a depressed expression. She began sniffing a bit before she began going on with her rambling.
"You're right, I shouldn't have asked you on a date. I'm so sorry, its just….well…I'm growing old by the second….." Professor Palma spouted.
She got off of Master Tendou's desk and walked back to the front of the classroom while still rambling on.
"You don't understand, when you become as old as I am, and you haven't found your significant other, life becomes lonely you know? I've tried, and tried so many times to find that one person, that one who will stand by my side for the rest of my life, yet I've always failed. Every time I go home, tired and stressed, I want to be comforted by someone who loves me dearly, someone who cares for me, but here I am, all alone. I've gone through life longer than any of you have. Elementary, Middle, here, then graduation, yet throughout those times, I still remain single, lonely. Hell, my little nephew who is only 12 already has a girlfriend while I still don't have my own boyfriend. I can't find anyone who would want a lady at this old age anymore, and every second that goes by, my chances become slim. At this point, I don't think I'll even be loved anymore! So I tell every one of you, please find your love now, before it's too late!"
…..
….
…
"What the fuck?" Master Tendou blurted.
And that was the thing that would set Professor Palma into a brooding and depressing mood. She…..well to say the least has had a miserable love life. She's dated many people before, but none have actually stayed with her, usually leaving after the first date. Weirdly, despite Professor Palma saying that she was getting too old, she was only in her early thirties. In contrast, Professor Sarah was 44 years old, and she doesn't seem bothered by her single status….I think.
Professor Palma let out a cough before reverting back to her normal self.
"Ok now, let's get this class off on a more positive light, shall we?"
With that, Battle Tactics class began. Professor Palma went over many different battle tactics that can be used in battle. Basically, Battle Tactics taught about fighting techniques Luckily, because no prior knowledge is really needed, Master Tendou was able to get the hang of things quickly. He was still struggling, no doubt because that is usually how a person who hasn't fought on the field will react, but at least he was able to catch on more easily than Biology. During this lesson, Desmond was pretty distracted with his TechDeck, but I don't think he would be missing out on much if he had already been through this for 8 years now. Unlike Biology, we didn't have a quiz this hour so Master Tendou won't have anything held against him. Time passed by as quickly during this hour as Professor Palma exaggerated during her rant on her dating life. As this hour ended, lunch began.
"Dear goodness me, I'm so delighted that lunch is finally here!" I stretched my arms upwards as students moved passed me.
"No kidding, I'm pretty deprived of energy right now." Desmond said as he straightened his back.
"I'm on the same boat." Master Tendou added as he cracked his neck left and right.
"Well, it's been fun interacting with you two, but I'll be taking my leave now. Farewell." Desmond said as he left the classroom.
Immediately as he left the classroom, his crowd of fangirls came back and followed Desmond. Master Tendou and I waited for the crowd to pass before we left. With the hour and a half that we have, I think I have plenty of time to teach Master Tendou the basics of cooking and also get him to cook both of us lunch. We left the classroom and headed to the closest exit. I thought that we would just go to Master Tendou's dorm immediately, but we ended up having an unexpected encounter.
Outside the exit of the academy was a woman. She was around 5'5". She had a long black dress that reached the ground and covered every part of her, except for her hands, upper thighs, and part of her upper breast. Her outfit was accompanied by a long flowing cape that was dyed with an orange-yellowish tint. She had snow-white hair that was tied into a braided ponytail in the back. The most notable thing about her appearance was that her eyes were covered with an orange-yellowish tinted, and somewhat holographic mask.
"Lady Reshia, the Overseer would like to request a meeting with you, and just you." The lady said.
This lady was Amber, a personal assistant to the Overseer. Amber was a pretty mysterious person. She seemed to be emotionless most of the time and is rarely seen around Schicksal area. Amber is a direct person, not having the time for jokes and such. Rumors say that she's a Valkyrie, and possibly one of the best, but no one has actually seen her fight at all, so these rumors have the possibility to be false.
"Amber, can I hold off this meeting for now? I have something that I would prefer doing-."
"Not possible. The Overseer wanted to meet you now, at this certain point of time. I'm sorry Reshia, but I need you to obey his orders." Amber ordered.
As much as I want to reject, I guess I have to obey the Overseer's orders. After all, he is the Overseer, if he wants to desperately meet me, then he must have good reasoning to do so. Well, looks like cooking lessons can come later.
"Sorry Tendou, but I've got to go. You should go to the cafeteria, or go to the city for lunch. I promise that I'll teach you how to cook when I can, ok?" I tell Master Tendou.
"No, I understand. Go meet with Otto, I'm sure he needs you for something really important if he's calling for you, and just you." Master Tendou replied.
"I'll be on my way now."
Master Tendou left to go, somewhere. Considering that he wasn't going back to the academy, I think he was heading towards the city. Amber and I walked over to the Overseer's office in the main building. We ascended through many floors before we reached his office. Opening the door to his office, the Overseer was sitting at his desk, awaiting my arrival.
"Reshia! It's good to see that you could make it." The Overseer said.
"Overseer, if you don't bother me asking, but what do you need me for?"
"Ah yes, I need you to do two things actually. First, I actually want you to cook me lunch. I'm kind of hungry right now, and with you being here, I thought you could cook both of us a nice meal. Secondly, and what I called you here in the first place for, we need to talk about Saturday."
Saturday…it's about that incident isn't it? Oh, I hope I don't get severely punished for this. I walk outside of the Overseer's office and head to the kitchen next to it. I turn on the stove and began cooking two filet mignons for both the Overseer and I. I also decided to make some green beans for us as well and poured out two glasses of the finest wine that was available in the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, I carried both of our dishes out to the office where the Overseer was reading over some documents. I placed down both of our dishes on top of his desk, and I immediately went towards my steak. I am starving after all. Likewise, the Overseer immediately went after his steak as well.
"As always, your cooking never fails to satisfy me." The Overseer complemented.
"Please, you don't need to be that kind Overseer."
The Overseer lifted his glass of wine and held it up. I grabbed my own and held it up to dink it with his own.
*DINK*
*GULP* *GULP*
"Now then, if I may, I would like to talk about Saturday." The Overseer requested.
Oh no, the thing I was dreading. What was he going to do? Was he going to punish me? Scold me? Make everyone abandon me?!
"Can you tell me what exactly happened on Saturday, at the training facility?"
"Well, it was a pretty normal day. Mostly." I answered him while shaking a bit.
"It was just thundering and raining outside, so my options for entertainment were limited. I was thinking of playing a mobile game with Tendou, but that wouldn't have lasted long at all, plus most games I play, like Azur Lane, Dokkan, and Grand Cross, are mostly single-player games. Maya called me during this time asking if I wanted to train with him. I wanted to go to train with him, but I couldn't leave Tendou alone. He just came back after trying out weapons so I thought that he didn't want to go train anymore. To my own surprise, he actually agreed to it, so we both went to go train with Maya, who brought Kathlynn along with him."
"So, you and Tendou went to go train with two Kaslanas. Ok, but how did it end up becoming a disaster?" The Overseer asked.
"Well, the training session went pretty well. I fought against both Kaslanas by myself for roughly ten minutes and it was a good match. All three of us were able to find out how to deal with a Free-for-all decently."
"All three of you? What happened to Tendou?"
"Tendou? Oh, he actually played the intelligent game. He disappeared for ten minutes to strategize how to beat the three of us. I don't know what he was doing, but whatever he did for ten minutes, worked slightly. So when he finally joined the battle, all four of us managed to get some decent bits of training, but that's when everything went downhill…"
I was now shaken in my spot. I tried reaching for my knife and tried cutting my steak, but my hands were trembling too much to finely cut the steak. The Overseer, seeing this, reached his hands out to grab my wrist.
"Let me cut the steak for you. I don't want you to cut yourself now, it would be an annoyance, wouldn't it?" He said.
I could only nod my head in response. I let go of my utensils and let the Overseer cut my filet into pieces. My breathing was faster than it should have been, and calming down wouldn't have worked. It's been two days since the incident, but just remembering the sight of Master Tendou going haywire against Darwin and Kathlynn is enough to shake me up.
"So, can you continue?" The Overseer requested.
"I'll try. So what happened was that Darwin came over to the training facility and turned off the simulation that we were using. This angered Maya, and especially Kathlynn, so all three of them were beginning to fight. I was trying to leave, avoiding this situation that normally occurs, but Tendou wouldn't leave. He instead tried to break them apart, fearing that someone could get harmed. Well…..he wasn't wrong."
Tears began forming around my eyes. They were on the edge, near falling down my face, but I had to hold them back.
"Tendou was hit with a multitude of bullets all across his body. He slammed against the ground, lifeless. I tried my best to keep him alive, but I couldn't do anything. Maya tried helping while Kathlynn and Darwin continued fighting. I thought that Tendou was dead, gone from this world just the moment he woke up, or so I thought."
I looked up to confront the Overseer with my eyes. I was scared that he was disappointed at my failure to protect Master Tendou, but instead, he was wide-eyed. It was as if he was a listener to an oral storyteller, waiting to hear more. It was as if he was excited yet scared somehow. With no other choice, I continued.
"Suddenly, Tendou got up from the ground, with his bullet wounds now healed. However, something was different. His eyes changed from cobalt blue to amethyst purple, and his tiny braid went from the brown color of his hair to silver. His voice was also a bit different. It was still the same, but it had the echo of a feminine voice shortly coming after his voice. Quickly, he rushed towards both Kathlynn and Darwin and began beating them relentlessly. He did so many things during that fight. Creating a portal, creating a parachute, enhancing a weapon with lightning and fire, manipulating gravity, flying with wind, and creating a white energy blade around his hand. I didn't know what, why, and how he did any of this. He was about to end Kathlynn before he suddenly stopped out of nowhere. Yelena came in at this time and shot Tendou with her weapon, knocking him out."
After recapping everything, I hid my face behind my hands. I let my tears loose as I know remembered Saturday again. The Overseer, hearing my crying, handed me a handkerchief to wipe my tears away.
"So, will you punish me for letting this happen?" I ask the Overseer.
The Overseer shook his head.
"No, I will not hold this account on you. You did not know that this could happen, but now you know better."
The Overseer stood up and held my wrist.
"I need you to promise me something. Always keep Tendou in check from now on. Now that you know what he is capable of, I need you more than ever to keep him from rampaging again. If he goes out of control again, and to a much worse extent, not only will he have the capability to destroy this city, but he will damage this world. So please, never allow this to happen again!" He begged of me.
I nodded my head to his request. However, this just left me with a hanging question. What the hell was Master Tendou? What kind of monster is he hiding? How does the Overseer know about this monster? What does he know about this monster?
"Overseer, please, I need to know! What, and who is Tendou? Why does he have this much power-."
"Shhhhhh…..I know that you want to know, but I can't tell you this. It's too valuable and too much for anyone to handle." The Overseer said.
"But-."
"Shhhhhh…"
Why is the Overseer so hesitant to answer me? It can't be that bad and secretive, right? There is no way it should be that bad! The worse I can think of is that Master Tendou is a Herrscher, but that wouldn't make any sense. Wasn't he apart of the attack on Arastan City by the Herrscher of Devastation? It doesn't add up.
"Let's just finish our lunch shall we? After all, a cold steak is not a delectable steak." The Overseer commented.
"….Right."
Tendou's Perspective
"Man, guess I have to go find a restaurant in the city."
I walked outside the campus area and headed towards a bus stop. The bus wouldn't be arriving for a while so I had time to look for a restaurant on my phone. Alright, lets see here…..Applebee's, Logan's Roadhouse, IHOP, Steak n' Shake, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster…..these restaurants don't seem that interesting. I continued scrolling down the list that the internet provided me.
"Wait, scroll back up a bit." Lessica asked.
"I think you just passed by a restaurant called Osaka."
"Osaka? What's so special about that place?" I asked her.
"It has a hibachi option, basically where someone cooks food in front of you. Go there."
"I guess so. I mean, there's nothing wrong with seeing someone cook-, wait, how the hell do you know this? I thought you hated humans so you would have avoided things like this?!"
"I-uh…it's…..complicated?"
"Hah, so you do think that there is something good about humans deep inside you!"
"Please, just shut up."
The bus arrived as our short argument came to an end. I hopped on the bus and sat in the back. According to my phone, Osaka was pretty far away from the campus. It would take about 30 minutes to get to the closest bus stop and another 5 to walk to the restaurant. The bus left a minute after I, along with everyone else loaded on to the bus. I stared outside the window, looking up at the sky where a good amount of flying cars were passing above us. It wasn't until 5 minutes where the bus stopped at the next stop. The next bus stop caused a bit of ruckus as many people began releasing gasp of shock and awe. I lifted my head from the window to look at the commotion. A pink-haired girl was walking down the bus. She was wearing a regal dress that reached to her ankles. She also had a beautifully shaped body for a woman. Big, ample chest, and curves, I guess the noise caused by the people on the bus was justified. Coincidentally, she had the same cobalt blue eyes that I had. Judging by the ooh's and ahh's, this was probably someone from the royal families, but who though?
"Excuse me, but is anyone sitting down here?" The lady asked me.
I shook my head. The lady let out a chuckle before sitting down.
"I hope I'm not making you uncomfortable by sitting here." She said.
"Nah, you're good." I tell the lady.
"Ok then. By the way, if you don't know who I am, my name is Yasmine Schariac." She introduced herself.
Yasmine Schariac? So I was right, it was someone of a royal family. Didn't think it would be Yasmine though. So I guess she's the mother of Desmond, Yelena, and Darwin. I know I'm supposed to have some respect for her, but I just don't feel it for some reason.
"Nice to meet you Yasmine." I replied.
"So, I just want to point out that she has pink hair…" Lessica stated.
"Yeah, what about it?" I asked Lessica.
"Both Yelena and Desmond were both blonde while Darwin was a brunette. Seeing as hair color comes from genetics, that means that either the father or the mother should have blonde hair. While we don't know the hair color of Zack, we do know that it's either blonde or brown. So how does Yasmine have pink hair when her descendants have blonde or brown?"
"That's….actually a good question."
"Say, why do you have pink hair?" I asked Yasmine.
"Oh, my hair color? I just recently dyed my hair this color. My natural hair color is actually brown." Yasmine stated.
"Well now that makes more sense." Lessica said.
"Yeah, I guess it does."
"By the ways, I haven't gotten your name yet. What is it anyways?" Yasmine asked me.
"My name, it's Tendou." I answered.
At the mention of that name, Yasmine's eyes shot up. Oh boy, it's going to be about that thing, isn't it? Fucking, how many times am I going to have to answer this question?! Damnit Lessica, this is all your fault! Actually…..nevermind, I guess it's technically my fault for "dying".
"Tendou? You must be the one who nearly killed Darwin on Saturday!" Yasmine shouted.
"Hey! Can you keep your voice down?! I don't want everyone hearing this." I tell Yasmine.
"Oops. Sorry about that? Anyways, you're the one who fought him, right?" Yasmine asked.
"…..Yeah. I don't want to talk about it though…" I groaned.
"Wow, you really laid a beating on him. I went to go visit him in the medical bay after your fight with him. You really did a number on him."
"Ok, so what are you going to do about it? Are you going to try to get back at me or something?"
"I mean, as a mother, I should, and I do have the powers to do so, but for some reason, I just can't. I'm just awed at how a newbie can not only hurt my son but also defeat him in battle. Also, I just think that he deserves it a bit."
He deserves it? What kind of mother thinks her son deserves a near-death beating!? Sure, parents can punish their kids if they want to, but I don't think a near-death scenario is a punishment at that point.
"What the? Darwin deserves it?" I questioned Yasmine.
"He might be my dear son, but even I can see that his arrogance is a bit unwarranted. He's been like that for a majority of his life, and ever since he was promoted to an S-Rank, his superiority complex has been through the roof! Maybe it's because Zack and I spoiled him a bit too much during his childhood." Yasmine admitted.
"…..So, you're not mad at me?" I asked her.
"Not really. I can't vouch for Zack though. Maybe you should avoid him for the time being." Yasmine chuckled.
The bus had already left the stop, getting ready to travel to the next stop. You know, for being in a royal family, I'm surprised that Yasmine, and I guess Krystal too are taking the bus. You would expect them to drive a flying car or have a flying limousine for themselves, but I guess they don't. It took us a while to arrive at the next bus stop. There were many different vehicles on the road at this time. I'm guessing it's because it's lunchtime for many people.
"So, where are you planning to head to?" Yasmine asked, trying to start a conversation.
"I'm heading to a restaurant called Osaka. You?"
"Ah, I'm actually heading to a restaurant called Kings and Queens. It's a fancy restaurant that serves some of the finest meals." Yasmine informed me.
"My husband should be waiting for me at the restaurant, or at least that's what I think. He did state that he could be too busy to eat out with me."
"Hmph, seems nice that you're going to a fancy restaurant." I tell Yasmine.
"Actually, I could take you with me. It's a fine dining place and I want you to experience it Tendou." Yasmine offered.
"Nah, I think I'm good. Besides, it looks like you are dressed nicely to go to the restaurant. I'm over here wearing a simple t-shirt, jeans, and a jacket over my shoulders. I don't think it would help your reputation if you brought me along." I replied.
"Aw come on. It doesn't bother me what you're wearing. Please reconsider this opportunity." Yasmine begged.
"….Nah, I'm good."
"Oh thank god you rejected."
"Huh? Yeah, I would. I don't want to actually eat at a fancy restaurant, it's too expensive despite me having Otto's bank account."
The next bus stop would arrive soon enough, but the package that came along with it would be a nightmare. A good amount of people got off, which was somewhat relieving as the bus was starting to get crowded, but a particular person hopped on the bus.
"Look, it's Kazuto and Krystal!" A bystander said.
"Gah, its them." Yasmine growled.
"Um, Tendou?" Lessica called.
"….Yeah?"
"We better prepare ourselves for a bumpy ride."
Kazuto stepped inside the bus. Kazuto was a tall man, towering above Krystal who was shorter than Kathlynn. So Kazuto was fairly tall. Kazuto had a weird style of hair. It was snow white like Krystal, and by extension, his children. Part of his hair on his right was awkwardly slicked back to the top of his head. That part of his hair looked like it could have been a bang that covered half of his face. Because the other side of his hair didn't have this bang, part of his head seems a bit bigger on the top. His eyes were a neon pinkish-purple color, like Claudia. He was currently wearing a pretty neat suit that was mostly black. His wife, crystal was wearing a rose-red dress and some fancy high heels. Both of the Kaslanas turned towards the back and saw Yasmine, who was now frowning.
"Well now, I didn't expect to see a slut on this bus." Kazuto taunted.
Yasmine only growled under her breath at his taunt. Krystal was hugging her man's arm while watching this mess unfold. Meanwhile, I scrolled through my phone to see how far Osaka was so I could hop off the bus to get away from this, which luckily for me was the next stop.
"What the hell do you want Kazuto." Yasmine barked.
"Me, I'm just trying to go to Kings and Queens with my lovely wife. What are you doing on this bus?"
"Huh, funny. I'm also trying to go to Kings and Queens."
"Really now?"
Kazuto turned his head to face me. His face contorted to frown at me before looking back at Yasmine.
"Oh, don't tell me that you're cheating on Zack like you did with me with this man as well."
"Wow, I can't believe how much of a slut you are!" Krystal joined in on the taunting.
"What?! No! I'm not cheating on my dear husband! This is just someone who was sitting in the back with me!" Yasmine tried to convince.
"Don't you lie to Kazuto!" Krystal yelled.
At this point, I was now being dragged into this against my will. You know, I don't want to barge in, but if they are going to falsely accuse me of something, I think I have the right to defend myself.
"Sorry to disappoint, but she isn't lying." I stated.
"I'm just trying to go to a restaurant, please leave me out of this."
Kazuto and Krystal ignored me. They continued going back and forth with Yasmine. The bus at this point had already left the bus station. The three kept arguing with each other, creating a ruckus inside the bus. Nearby us was a young girl who was with her mother. She was terrified at the ruckus going on.
"Mommy, what are those three arguing about?" She asked in a scared tone.
"Don't worry about them, just please ignore it." The mother responded.
I generally felt sorry for the child. She was getting more and more frightened as the argument kept going on.
"Are you really feeling sorry for a child?"
"Yeah, and?"
"Ignore the child Tendou. She just a human being, no one important, like everyone else on this bus."
"Oh my god-How big is your hatred for humans?!"
"Bigger than Kyle's ego."
"…That's pretty big I guess…"
"I've had enough of the both of you!" Yasmine yelled.
"Please leave me alone, and just sit far away from me!"
"Oh I'm not going to leave you alone. There is so much more I want to bring down upon you." Kazuto antagonized.
"You've already antagonized me enough, what more do you want to argue about."
"Oh there is so much more than your cheating attitude, you damn child murderer!"
When Kazuto mentioned the words "child murderer" a spark was lit inside of Yasmine. She flared up in anger. Out of nowhere, she materialized a gun on her right hand and aimed it at Kazuto. Kazuto just stood still while everyone else, barring Krystal and I suddenly began screaming out of terror.
"Child Murderer?! You should be the one called the Child Murderer!" Yasmine screeched.
"Really? Pulling a gun, and in public. Do you know how immature you are being right now?" Krystal mentioned.
"Shut up Krystal! Stay out of this!"
"I don't think you have the right to say anything, child murderer!"
With that last statement, everything felt like it went into slow motion. My vision became distorted for a bit. My outer vision became amethyst purple. I thought Lessica was trying to get back in control, but I still felt normal, like I had control of everything. Everything was almost frozen for some reason, and I felt a bit weird. It was kind of like I was going on an adrenaline rush for no reason, but how beneficial this would somehow prove to be. In this slow-motion, I could see Yasmine's finger slowly pulling the trigger to her gun while Krystal began pushing Yasmine's gun to the side. The trigger was pulled back a bit, and the barrel was slowly moving towards the child that was near us. I don't know why I was having this slowed down vision, but I'm using it to my advantage! I leapt forward to shield the child with my body, and then….
*BAM*
"AGH!"
The bus scrambled into shrieks of terror. People were frightened at the gunshot. Yasmine dematerialized her gun and released a gasp. Kazuto and Krystal turned around to see where my pained scream came from. I was fortunate to block the child from the bullet. The bullet was lodged into my back. I grinded my teeth together, trying to bear through the pain while my healing factor took effect. By now, the amethyst purple outlay has disappeared.
"Agh, son of a bitch." I growled.
"Oh my god- Tendou, I'm so sorry!" Yasmine apologized.
"Tendou? Oh, you're the one with Sarah on Friday!" Krystal stated consecutively with Yasmine's apology.
"Wait, Tendou? As in the Tendou is hurt Kathlynn?" Kazuto asked.
"Are you ok? Did I harm you badly?"
"I'm so sorry that I mistake you for someone who was cheating with Yasmine."
"Why did you hurt Kathlynn?"
All three of them were feeding me with questions, questions that were either self-explanatory or questions I didn't want to answer. After taking a bullet for a child, and being forced into an argument that I didn't want to be apart of, my patience is gone. I'm fucking done with them right now.
"The three of you, shut the fuck up!"
Yasmine, Krystal, and Kazuto closed their mouths fully as I yelled at them. I wanted to yell at them so much more, but I just wanted to get away from the three of them at this point. Luckily, the bus driver, who was able to remain content during this drama stopped at the next bus stop. I walked to the exit of the bus. My wound was able to heal itself by now, and the bullet that Yasmine lodged inside of me fell out and bounced on the bus floor.
"I'm sorry for all of this trouble." I apologized to the bus driver as I got off the bus.
I left quickly, heading towards the restaurant that I didn't pay attention to what the bus driver said. I just wanted to get away from those three! Like, I get it, there's bad blood between you three, but can you not pull out a fucking gun in public?! Moreover, what the hell happened with that slowdown time bullshit?!
"Really? Taking a bullet for a child? Why?" Lessica jabbed.
"It's someone's child! Do you know how much it would hurt someone if their kid was injured in any way, let alone possibly being murdered?!" I rebuked.
"It's a child, no big deal. Just create another one." Lessica rebutted
"What kind of messed up mentality is that?!" I bellowed.
"Messed up mentality? It seems like a logical one to me."
"You really have a vendetta against humans, don't you?"
"Don't need to state the obvious."
"And yet you decide to look like one. Kind of ironic isn't it?"
"Look, I didn't choose what I could look like. I was just born this way."
"So you're telling me that you would rather look like a robot, or something?"
"….."
"That's what I thought."
I arrived outside of Osaka within 5 minutes. Osaka was located in this area that had many other restaurants, and other shopping stores. If I remember what the searching app on my phone said, I think this area was referred to as an "outlet mall". I entered the restaurant immediately. The restaurant wasn't like absolutely filled or anything, but there were still a lot of people. Fortunately I was the only one in the waiting line, so it didn't take me long to get seated.
"Hello, welcome to Osaka, would you like to dine in regularly, or go to one of our hibachi grills?"
"Choose the hibachi grill."
"Uh….hibachi grill."
"Alright, right this way."
I was lead to the hibachi grill section. There were four grills in total, though all but one were filled with other people. Because of this, I sat alone, which I'm completely fine with. I sat down on the chair that was centered towards the grill and was given a menu. The menu wasn't particularly big, but it was nowhere near small. The waiter doesn't arrive until later, so I guess I have a lot of time to figure out what I want.
"Have you made your decision yet?"
"Nah, not yet. Why does it matter to you?"
"So I can choose something different from you."
"Oh….that makes se-wait a minute, no that doesn't! How in the world are you going to eat?"
"By sending both of us into the crimson accommodation as always, like how both of us shower together."
"Um….ok I guess?"
I decided to look at the menu again, so I can figure out what I wanted to eat, and for Lessica's sake, I guess. Menu's not that big so I'm fortunate enough to not choose between some things. Hmm….I guess filet mignon and chicken is good enough for me. It seems to be the most healthy for me out of everything on this menu.
"Alright, I chose filet and chicken, what do you want?"
"….I'll take lobster and scallops."
"Alright then, just gotta wait for someone to arrive now."
It took quite a while for a waiter to arrive at my table, considering that I'm the only one at this table. Nevertheless, at least I'm still getting served. The waiter quickly took my, or I guess, our orders of filet, chicken, lobster, and scallops, and left. He gave me a weird look during my order, which I guess is justifiable since I just ordered two meals, and I'm the only one here technically. Though that doesn't matter to me now, there is one thing that I want to think about first, and it was what happened on the bus. I think I know who to confront about this…..
"Lessica, about what happened on the bus…"
"That slowed down vision is what you want to talk about, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it was something that you did yourself wasn't it? My vision was shrouded in purple, so it must have been your doing. What the hell did you pull off?"
"That slowed down vision is one of our powers, though not exclusive to us. Schicksal has access to this power too, in fact, remember your first fight with Reshia? Remember when for some reason, you were just sent abruptly flying in the air with injuries? Yeah, it's the same power that I used earlier. Schicksal calls it "Time Fracture". It's an area of effect ability that allows its user to see things in slowed down time and react accordingly, be it dodging, attack, etcetera."
"Time Fracture…so how does Schicksal have access to this ability?"
"I don't know the full story, but from what I know, it has to do something with the defeat of the Second Herrscher back during the Second Civilization. Whatever they gain from it, they were able to implement Time Fracture into their battle suits."
"Oh….wait, I don't have a battle suit yet, so how did YOU manage to activate it?!"
"I-Ugh…shit I think I let out too much."
…..huh? Let out too much? I mean, I guess, but because the information Lessica spread out was all scrambled, I don't think I gained much. All I truly learned was that Lessica activated Time Fracture, and that's it. I don't know how she activated it. Actually, why does she have all of this power? Why does she have a limit to controlling me? Is this what Otto truly wants me for? He doesn't actually want me, he just wants Lessica! And why is Lessica connected to me anyway? She has her own appearance, yet she only resides with me. Why doesn't she have her own body within the real world? What happened to cause her to reside inside me? How long has she resided with me? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!
"Hello sir, are you the one who ordered the filet mignon, chicken, lobster, and scallops?" A chef asked.
"Huh….uh yeah, that would be me." I replied, quickly snapping back to reality.
"I see. Sorry if I mind asking, but would you like to put everything on one plate, or use two separate plates?"
"I'll use two plates."
"Alrighty then."
With that, the chef began pouring what I think is oil on the grill. The grill hasn't been heated up so the oil wasn't boiling. In the meantime, the chef poured some soup into a bowl and gave it to me. Afterward, he filled a glass of water for me.
"Thank you." I said.
I grabbed the soup bowl and drank part of it. It was pretty warm. I don't know what soup it was, but it was pretty good. That being said, there wasn't a lot of content in the soup, only having a few mushrooms. The oil started to heat up a bit. The chef began adding some chunks of butter on the grill, which melted immediately. The chef began adding piles of rice on top of the grill, cooking it while simultaneously cooking some peas, and carrots on the rice. Shortly after, he poured a bottle labeled "Soy Sauce" and squeezed a bottle labeled "Yum-Yum Sauce" on the rice before mixing it up. The chef piled the rice over to the side and began cooking everything else, like the filet and chicken. The chef poured some more oil down on the grill, creating a massive flame that stayed alive for a couple of seconds before dimming down. He grabbed an egg and placed it on one of his spatulas, and began tossing the egg between two spatulas, somehow without cracking the egg. How he does this, I don't know, but it's entertaining as hell! He kept his egg tossing act up for a few more seconds before catching the egg with his hand, cracking it, and letting the egg seep through its shell and onto the stove.
"This man is really good at multi-tasking, isn't he?" Lessica pointed out.
"Yeah. I'm surprised someone can actually cook multiple things at once." I stated.
His multi-tasking feat would only be proved upon more when he poured some noodles onto the grill, pouring some condiments on them, and cooking it simultaneously with everything else! What can't this guy do? The chef cooked everything else for an extra 5 minutes before plating Lessica's and my own's food.
"I hope you enjoy your food sir, have a great day." The chef bid farewell.
My plate was steaming. The filet and chicken were chopped into bits and scattered on top of everything. The rice was dressed as a hill, and the noodles were wrapped around the rice like a coat. Well, it doesn't matter how it looks, it's gonna go down my body anyways. Alright, time to eat! I grabbed the fork on my left and shoved a mixture of noodles, rice, and a piece of chicken in my mouth. Like the show that the chef put on for me, the food was excellent. I lifted my head up a bit from my food and blinked. The next time I opened my eyes, the restaurant now had a crimson hue to it. Everyone had slight red shading around them and stopped moving. I was now in that weird crimson accommodation that Lessica used to somewhat interact with the real world. Lessica sat down next to me, still naked.
"So, do you even need to eat?" I asked Lessica, who was sitting to the right of me.
"No, I don't actually. Again, like how hygiene works for you and I, my hunger is directly connected to your hunger. So I don't need to technically eat as that's your job for me, but again like showering, I like to eat for personal enjoyment." Lessica answered, munching on a piece of lobster.
"Does you eating actually fill my hunger instead or not?"
"I don't think it should. I don't know, after all, you just recently have awoken, so we can't test what affects us yet."
"Hmmm, I see."
She is right, I just recently awoken….wait, recently awoken? I get what she means, but recently awoken kind of seems odd. With all of the talks that I've had with Lessica, it sounds like she has known me for a long time, long before I suffered from amnesia. So her saying recently awaken adds something odd to my back story. Maybe I'm interpreting this wrong, but it sounds like she stated that I never existed before. I need to collect more intel from Lessica herself, but I don't think she'll give me the information I want. How can I get more information out of her? Hmmm…well, this is worth a shot.
"You controlled my body on Saturday, yet you mentioned how you had such a limited time because you've been weakened. How did you get weakened? and why now?" I asked Lessica.
"How did I get weakened? Well, for being active for so long. The powers I've demonstrated on Saturday caused quite a bit of strain on me, I can't keep using them forever." Lessica stated.
"If you remember, you saw me glow amethyst purple as well as my eyes changing from crimson red to amethyst purple. Amethyst purple is actually my true eye color, as well as my powered up state. The crimson red is me when I'm either out of energy, or suppressed."
"Ok, but that still doesn't answer my second question, why now?"
"Now, it's because I've been using these powers for too long to sustain myself. I've been using these power for the past 22 years, of course I would begin to overexert myself and begin to weaken if I didn't rest and recharge, but with what those 22 years of hell had for me, I couldn't. Now, I have the chance to recharge, and peacefully, hopefully." Lessica recounted before stuffing her face with food, and finally realizing what she said.
"….Agh, damn it, I said too much again! This was your plan, wasn't it!"
"Uh…what plan?" I said slyly.
Lessica growled at me, before going back to eating, this time with a slight bit of anger. Well, my plan of getting her to spill some beans worked, just didn't get what I really wanted directly, but the information that she spilled out has given me enough clues to fill in some stuff. Lessica has always had these mysterious powers for a long time, 22 years in fact. These powers cause a strain on her, and she needs time to take a break so she wouldn't be forced to weaken down, but her past 22 years never allowed her to. It may seem like much, but didn't Lessica state that she and I were one? If her statement remains true, then shouldn't I have been with her during those 22 years? Then again, I was apart of the attack of the Herrscher of Devastation, so maybe that attack could have caused amnesia. But, if Lessica has been with me for those 22 years, then why is she so hesitant to tell me anything? Goddamnit, I'm not going to get anything from her at all!
"Alright, I need to confront you about this now. Why the hell are you so hesitant to tell me anything?"
Lessica, who was almost done with her meal, turned her head to look at me.
"Kind of simple really, if I told you anything, there's a chance that you would tell everyone about your damn life story. Not that it is a bad thing in retrospect, but considering both of our backstories, it's too valuable to tell someone right now."
"How do you know if I might tell anyone about my backstory?! We've barely met-well, I've barely met you, but that doesn't mean you should know how I act on these things!"
"Hey, can you lower your voice down? I know we're sort of in this realm, and everyone looks frozen, but your actions are still being seen in the real world. If you don't want to look like a doofus, then I would suggest that you shut up."
"Ok I'll lower my voice, but going back to-wait…my actions are still being seen in the real world?"
"Yeah."
"How the fuck does this realm work then?"
"I'll try to explain. Only you are in this realm, seeing me of course. However, while time in here looks like it stopped, it's still flowing together with the time of the real world. Your actions that you perform here are still seen by everyone around you, you just won't be able to see their reactions. Likewise, because they can't see me, or hear me, all they will see is you talking to someone, and food mysteriously disappearing."
"That….doesn't make any sense."
"Look, I don't make up the rules on how this works. There's a chance that we can alter this, but we would have to figure that out ourselves."
"How will someone outside this realm attract my attention then?"
"I don't know actually, I think they can just touch you to bring you back to reality, but I ain't you so…"
"Man, my life gets confusing every damn second. Anyways, going back, how do you know if I will spoil my life?"
"Simple answer, I don't. But before you ask why I'm not willing to risk telling you anything, it's because I'm not taking my chances, and that's final! So please, stop asking!"
As much as I wanted to get more out of Lessica, I knew she wouldn't budge. So, I just went back to eating. The food was good, but my questions overshadowed my care over the taste of my food. I just can't understand why Lessica is so hesitant. Her implications hint that my backstory is "too sacred" to know, but I just can't understand why. My only intuition is that I was a pretty malevolent person. Back in Arastan, those survivors were terrified of me when they saw me. Actually, my vision went into a crimson hue, and my body was reacting bizarrely. That was Lessica's attempt of trying to take over, wasn't it? Considering her hatred towards humans, was that her attempt to kill them? Probably, but that just gives me a more terrifying question. How did they know that Lessica was about to kill them? There's no way they should know that Lessica was out for blood, unless….
"Excuse me sir, but are you finished with your two meals?"
"..Huh."
Strangely, and mysteriously, I was taken out of the crimson accommodation and brought back to reality by the chef, who tapped me on my shoulder. My plate was mostly clean, with just a few kibbles of rice, and small strings of noodles scattered around my plate. Lessica's plate was completely clean, with no marks of food left behind.
"Uh, yeah, I guess." I stated, awkwardly.
"Good. I'll be taking your plates then."
The chef, who gave me a strange stare, took both of my, or I guess, Lessica and my plate, and left. A few minutes later, the waiter came back, with a check in his hand. He placed it in front of me, telling me to go up to the counter when I make my payment. I grabbed the check. $10.99 for 1 person, $29.79 for my filet and chicken combo, and $34.99 for Lessica's lobster and scallops, plus tax. A little more expensive than I want, but eh, got Otto's money. I stood up to walk over to the counter, paid using my debit card, and left. I pulled out my phone, revealing the time to be 1:17, roughly giving me about 40 minutes before the next class starts. What should I do now?
"Hey Lessica, what should I do now?" I asked the only person I knew around me.
"This is an outlet mall, right? I guess we can go window shopping or something to waste time." Lessica answered.
"Sure."
I walked all over the outlet mall, just looking outside the windows of each store. I eventually passed by a sports store that sold many sports-related things. It seems interesting enough, so I'm going to go visit the store. The store was relatively filled with many people. The store contained goods for many different sports. However, I didn't buy anything, after all, I don't play any of these sports, so buying something would probably be useless, or that's what I thought. I passed by a section of the store that sold those miniature skateboards that Desmond was messing around with earlier. This section was filled with these tiny skateboards, which, according to the plastic boxing, was called a "TechDeck". I mean, sure, I'll buy one to pass time. So I grabbed a random white and green TechDeck and bought it. When I left the store, I went back to the bus stop, luckily on time as the bus began leaving. I managed to hop back onto the bus and headed straight back to the campus.
"Interesting that you bought a small skateboard. Did seeing Desmond play with his really piqued your interest that much?"
"Yeah. Seems like a good time waster to me."
"Hmph. Do what you want to do."
"….I want to go back to about an hour ago, you know, with that time fracture debacle?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"So, how did you know when to activate it? I know Yasmine had her gun pointed at Krystal and Kazuto for a while, but it still bugs me how you knew when to activate it. Actually, I have a better question, why did you activate it?"
"….no reason."
No reason? Seems like a load of bullshit to me. I don't understand. Regardless of what Lessica did, Yasmine would have fired the bullet, and Krystal would have pushed her gun aside anyways. The bullet was always going to hit that child, had I not intervened, but I wouldn't have intervened had Lessica not activated time fracture-….oh…awwww….
"So you did care for that child on the bus. How cute." I taunted Lessica, slightly.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Lessica blatantly lied.
"Aw, come on. Just admit that you do care a little bit about other humans."
"Tendou, I activated the time fracture to protect you!"
"Protect me? Because I guess taking a bullet really shows that you want to protect me."
"Ugh…well, it's because I care about you ok!"
"Thats nice to know, but that doesn't add up. We both know that bullet was not going to hit me if I didn't intervene, and I wouldn't have intervened if you didn't activate time fracture. Just admit it, you really did care for that child!"
"…"
No response. Well, I guess that's my answer that she did care about that child. Now then, what to do. I still have a long ways to go before I get back to the campus. Talk with Lessica more? I could, but what is there to talk about? All of the things I do want to talk about, Lessica doesn't. Well, there is something I do want to talk about…..
"Lessica, why are you always naked?" I asked bluntly.
Lessica didn't respond for a while. Did that question really bother her that much? I mean, it shouldn't. Every time I see her, she's been naked. Hell, she even forces me to shower with her! Or rather, she forces herself, but even then, she doesn't seem to be all that bothered.
"The best answer that I can provide for you is that, I don't have any way to access clothing. For the longest time, I couldn't really find a way to get clothes and bring them into the realm I reside in. With you, I could now, but we would have to go through the process of having to actually go test out clothing for me, and buying it too. We can do the testing easy, but buying it is the problem." Lessica answered.
"We can't steal it as it would leave you in a bad reputation, and the stores would probably give you a weird look if they saw you buying woman clothing. We also can't have your maid, Reshia buy me clothing as well since she doesn't really know that I exist, and two, she doesn't know what size I wear."
"Ah, you're right. Wait, then how does Maya get away with buying female clothing then? Everyone on campus knows that he is a dude, and even he himself acknowledges that he's a dude. Shouldn't this entire city know that he's a dude since he is a Kaslana?"
"I think you just answered yourself on that one. Maya is a Kaslana, simple as that. There is probably still some judging, no doubt, but I don't think anyone is willing to speak about it because of the possibilities that could happen. There's also the possibility that Maya really doesn't care what people think about him, or he just has his clothes tailored privately for him."
"That could be true, but if you don't have any access to clothing, what's with the gray ribbon on your hair then? How did you get that?" I inquired.
"That ribbon? It was given to me a long time ago when someone, or rather two people managed to breach my personal area. One gave me the ribbon, which I refused to wear, however, the other person, cinched it on my hair. I only kept it on because while that other person was still human filth, at least she was still considerate enough for everyone, unlike the other person." Lessica countered.
"To this day, that person and I still have our grudges against each other, or I do at least. I don't know if he does, or if he ever did anyways. All I know is that now, we both have started a "game" of sorts, or that's what I interpret after meeting him again."
Sounds like a fierce rivalry to me, and I think it's pretty obvious to who Lessica is talking about. Otto Apocalypse. Admittedly, I don't know jack shit about the rivalry between these two, but from what I can gather, possibly biased on Lessica's word, is that Otto is a dangerous man, and should not be trusted. But that other woman Lessica is talking about, who was she referring to? Probably, someone, I haven't met yet.
"In the end, I really don't care if I'm nude. After all, no one is really going to see me beside you, and really, I think you should have gotten used to it by now. We shower together after all. Besides, I've been nude like this for the past, like what, 30 years or something? Maybe even longer!" Lessica added.
"Really you should be lucky that you get to see this sight, you know?"
"Maybe, but I don't think that I'm lucky that I have to essentially babysit you. Take the babysitting part lightly though." I muttered.
"Are you really going to consider me wanting to take a shower with you as babysitting? Because…..well…I mean, I guess you aren't too far off if you consider that you need to be close to the shower, to begin with, so yeah, I'll take it lightly I guess." Lessica accepted.
"Really, if you think about it, you have to be close to me if you want to do anything, eat, shower, hell, probably sleep in the real world too! Actually, I take that back, don't consider sleeping in the real world! Just please stay in that mental realm or whatever." I cautioned.
"Hmph, as if I want to sleep next to you anyways!" Lessica sneered.
"Speaking of that mental realm, how do I enter? It's a gorgeous place."
"Well yeah, it's a gorgeous place, but are you sure that you don't want to enter it just to see me? Pfft—I'm just joking. Yeah, I don't know how to really allow you to enter. The only way I know how you can enter is if I take control of your body, but I can't last that long."
"Shit. That's a bummer."
"I'll try to figure out a way, but I can't guarantee it will be fast. Also, I think you've arrived back at campus."
I looked outside the window, spotting the entrance of the campus. I grabbed my TechDeck box and got off the bus. I pulled out my phone to check the time. 1:57?! Shit, I'm gonna be late! I put my phone away in my pocket and began sprinting. I opened the door to let myself in, but because I opened it very shortly, my jacket was caught in between the doors.
"Damn it!" I cursed.
I reversed back to the door to open it again to grab my jacket. I began sprinting again while adjusting the jacket on my shoulders. The hallways were pretty empty which made running so much easier, but I only had a minute left before class began. I still had a long way to go. Come on, please let this minute last much longer…..Ah, there's the class-
*DING* *DING *DING*
*CRASH*
"Agh, shit, I'm so sorry!" I apologized.
I stood up and stared down at a woman. This woman had short, black hair that reached all the way down her neck and bending near her shoulders. She also had bangs that swept to her right. The woman wore a white, button-up shirt that was practically hugging her entire torso. It didn't help that she had something black that was wrapped around her stomach that tightened it even more. Going back to hugging, she also wore a black skirt that did the same thing. The woman was wearing black high heel boots, most likely to fit her aesthetic.
"No, no, it's fine." The woman said, in a strange tone.
"Um, your voice is quite strange? Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yes, yes, I'm quite fine."
I don't know what was going on with her voice. It seemed abnormal to me.
"Uh, Tendou. I think she's actually fine." Lessica chimed in.
"But her voice?"
"It's strange yeah, but it's not from pain. That voice, is a seductive voice. I don't know why she speaks like that, though, prepare yourself."
"Seductive? That doesn't sound bad, but sure, I'll brace myself."
"Here, let me help you stand up." I offered the lady.
"Oh thank you, how kind of you."
Right as I helped the lady stand up, the door to the classroom opened, revealing Reshia.
"Hmm? Ah, Tendou, you're late to class!" Reshia scolded.
"Heheh, sorry about that." I apologized.
"Also, did you bump into Professor Connors?"
"Professor Connors?….I guess I did."
So the lady in front of me is Professor Connors? Well shit, I accidentally bumped into my Professor, now that feels a bit awkward to say the least.
"Ah yes, that would be me." Professor Connors said.
"Oh, uh, nice to meet you Professor Connors."
Professor Connors and I walked into the classroom. Upon entering, Maya spotted me and waved. There were two empty seats next to him, which were probably the seats saved for both Reshia and I. I went towards the seats, sitting in between both Reshia and Maya. I placed the TechDeck under my seat. If I remember correctly, I think this was the history class. Well fuck me because I don't know shit, and since this class is probably going to be like Biology, where someone needs prior knowledge, I'm quite screwed. Though maybe not as much as Biology, I mean I did have those history books from Arastan still with me, and even some of those books back in my dorm, but I doubt those actually going to help me.
"Good afternoon class! I hope you all have had a wonderful afternoon so far." Professor Connors said.
"As some of you may have already noticed, we have a new student joining us, albeit very late both today, and throughout this year, but please welcome Tendou."
The entire class turned around to face me. Some people, like Maya and Reshia clapped as a warm welcome, while others just sneered at my existence. Professor Conners ignored all the clapping and went straight towards those who sneered.
"Alright class, I know he's a new student and all, but it's rude to bash him. We're all a team in this battle against the Honkai, don't try to lower the morale of a single Chevalier, or it will lower the morale of the entire team."
I don't think those students listened to Professor Connors. I don't know if it's pride, or ignorance, or something, but I don't think they would have listened in the first place. That damn social hierarchy will plant its place in this school I guess. Interestingly, Professor Connors went straight after the negative stuff while completely ignoring the positive. Guess this social hierarchy thing is an annoyance to the teachers as well. Wonder why Otto hasn't done anything about it. Probably doesn't care about it, and possibly could care about it less. You know, Professor Connors seems to be the most normal out of my teachers so far. She may have that weird seductive voice, but she isn't as violent as Professor Esponoza, nor is she as depressing as Professor Palma! Maybe I can get through this class without a hitch-!
"After all, it's rude to bash someone very kind, caring, and handsome as Tendou, am I right?" Professor Connors winked at me.
….d-d-did I just jinx myself in real-time? Ok, well maybe it's not as bad as my other two Professors. I still have hope that Professor Connors would be the most normal so far-.
"I mean, he's handsome and all, but he stands no chance to Kyle, Professor Connors." A girl said out loud.
"Oooh, you're right, Tendou may be handsome, but Kyle is literally a gift from God. He is like the eighth wonder of the world!" Professor Connors agreed.
…..ok I take everything back, she is not normal. I know she didn't see the shit that Kyle pulled on me earlier, but certainly, Kyle has to have done similar shit to someone else. Actually, well technically he didn't really do anything to me, more like his raging and horny fangirls did, but my point still stands! Also, with that statement about Kyle brought up, a majority of the girls began talking out loud about Kyle as if he was the lord and savior or some shit. Reshia was obviously disinterested if her reactions to Kyle in the morning said anything. Maya and a few other girls didn't bother barging in. Actually if I look around the class right now, I realized that Maya and I are the only males in this classroom. Everyone else has been female. In fact, it's been the same like that in every class. First class only had Kyle and I, and the second class only had Desmond and I. I knew Professor Sarah said that a majority of students were females, but I didn't think it would be overwhelming with females. Like, I know some males do exist, Kyle, Maya, Desmond, Darwin, and I are prime examples, but they just seem so scarce.
After about 5 minutes of girls essentially jacking off Kyle, the class finally began. History started off at a random point in history. We started off all the way in the second civilization, in the year 2016. Professor Connors was paraphrasing through an event called the "Arc City Stigmata Incident". I didn't see anything about this in my book, so this should be interesting. Apparently, this incident was a plan by an organization called "World Serpent". World Serpent's plan was to detonate a Honkai energy bomb inside Arc City to awaken the stigmata's of the people residing inside Arc City. According to the source that Professor Connors is paraphrasing from, this was the plan of their leader, Kevin Kaslana. Kevin Kaslana? So he is an ancestor of the Kaslanas? Probably. Kevin's plan was to awaken stigmata's so humanity could have a fighting chance against the Honkai. I would have thought this was a good plan if it wasn't for the fact that this would either kill innocent people, or just give them stigmata's, no in-between. I get wanting to have a fighting chance, but I don't think taking unnecessary lives is the best way.
Luckily, Kevin's master plan was thwarted by Kiana Kaslana. Kiana Kaslana? So was she like Kevin's sibling? Cousin? She was definitely a relative if her last name says anything. Kind of interesting that a Kaslana would disagree with a blood relative on something. You'd think they would agree on the plan, but I guess not. Kiana was able to thwart Kevin's plan by lifting the bomb up above the city using her Herrscher of the Void powers and blowing it up. Herrscher of the Void powers? Kiana was a Herrscher? Ok, well now I guess it makes somewhat more sense that she wouldn't agree with Kevin. But she was a Herrscher though. Shouldn't she technically be the evil person in this scenario? After all, if that book about Herrschers has said anything, it's that Herrschers are technically Honkai gods or something. In my opinion, she seems like the good person in this event.
After Professor Connors recapped the entirety of the Arc City incident, the class was on the verge of finishing. Well, this class provided some interesting stuff. I doubt it would actually help me, but hey, I guess something like this is interesting to know. I decided to stand up and stretch in place. Sitting for 2 consecutive hours is not comforting to the body. Wish the professors would give us some time to stretch and reset our bodies. I mean, I guess you can in class, but you would make a doofus out of yourself in the process. I have like what, 2 minutes before 4:00. Is it possible to leave before 4? Probably not, I don't think Reshia would allow me to do so. Eh, it's just 2 minutes, I can handle it-.
*DING* *DING* *DING*
Huh, that went by pretty fast. Guess my self-loathing(?) kept me busy. Everybody began leaving, including Maya. The only ones left were Reshia and I as we were both waiting for everyone else to leave as to not be part of the crowd. I scooped the TechDeck from under my seat and leaving to go to my final class. Reshia followed behind me because that's her duty, I guess. My next, and final class was Survival. If Reshia is correct on what she told me about each class the day prior, then Survival was basically a class on how to survive during missions. It basically runs through the basics, like, medical duties, and stealth, while also going through the more advanced survival knowledge, like how to not over-rely on your stigmata, and what to do in case you go off the grid during a mission.
It took Reshia and I approximately 3 minutes to get to our final class. As we entered the classroom, it was completely empty, with the minor exception of our Professor of this class. Speaking of the Professor, it's actually Professor Sarah! Finally, a normal teacher among my list of Professors! Well, that's what I think at least. I don't know, she could be bonkers. Friday gave me a good insight into that possibility, but I think she'll be fine.
"Good afternoon Tendou." Professor Sarah waved.
"Good afternoon." I waved back.
"Good afternoon Reshia."
"Good afternoon Professor Sarah."
Reshia moved over to the seats at the window. I followed her to a seat behind her because I'm practically glued to her I guess. It took a while before our other classmates filled in the classroom. In the meantime, I unpacked my bought TechDeck and fooled around with it. Not gonna lie, it was kind of fun playing with it.
"Huh, who would have thought that a miniature skateboard would provide such entertainment?" Lessica said, surprised.
"Why are you surprised? Weren't you also looking as Desmond when he was playing at his TechDeck in the mental realm?" I interrogated.
"I was forced to watch out of my own volition since I can only see what you can see since the monitor only shows your vision."
"Oh. Ok, well I was joking when you said you were looking at Desmond's skateboard, but now I know that you can actually see things."
"You should have already known that! You were in the mental realm two days ago and you were looking at the monitor too! Hell, I even alluded to being able to see what you see when I ordered things back at Osaka!"
"Ok, ok, ok! I get it! I'm a dumbass."
By this time, a majority of the students filled the classroom. The class was about to begin in a minute. My classmates in this class seemed normal so far. No Kyle fangirls like the first and third classes. Maybe this class will be like my second class-.
"Look! Here comes Kyle, and Tobias too!"
*SLAM*
Damn it! I jinxed myself again!
"Uh, why did you slam your fist on the desk?"
"Uh, why did you slam your fist on the desk?"
Consecutively, Lessica, and Reshia asked me the same question. Really, a good amount of people around me looked at me weirdly for the same reason.
"Um….I jinxed myself. Yeah….."
"…..Um, ok."
"…Um, ok"
Kyle, and a new person, Tobias was apart of my class. I don't know who Tobias is, but given that he's with Kyle, and acting similar to him, he was going to be as annoying as him. Tobias was relatively short. He stood somewhere between 5'2" to 5'5". Tobias had snow-white hair that reached down to his nape and long enough to cover his ears. At the top of his hair stood a small spike that was formed by some hair. His eyes were ocean blue in color. Wait, snow-white hair? Ocean blue eyes? That's a similarity to Kathlynn, Maya, Krystal, and Ino. Is Tobias a Kaslana? No, I don't think a Kaslana would act this arrogant, right?
"Ah, fine lady Reshia, it is pleasant to see you again." Tobias said.
"Likewise….." Reshia grumbled.
Reshia's grumble already gave me a bad feeling. So far, Reshia has been kind when talking to every Kaslana, and Schariac. Not with Tobias, but again, there's a possibility that he isn't a Kaslana-.
"Damn Reshia, why are you so rude to Tobias? I thought you respected the Kaslanas." Kyle derided.
…..is there a way to like, mentally sigh? Because that's what I'm doing right now.
"Why should I respect an arrogant brat?" Reshia argued.
With Reshia starting an argument, it prompted Tobias, and Kyle to sit in front of Reshia, and beside her respectively. Reshia was pissed at their decision. She began arguing against Tobias and Kyle while they tried to sweeten her up with words. You know, it's a first to see Reshia really argue against someone aggressively. You wouldn't think that she would be so contentious, but then again, if she has those abandonment issues from this morning, then I guess anything is fair game. The three didn't shut up until Professor Sarah shut them up by threatening them, similar to Friday with Kathlynn and Darwin. Reshia stopped immediately and apologized, Tobias just stayed silent, and Kyle scoffed.
Class began instantly. Professor Sarah immediately began talking about how to survive during a zombie horde. She lectured us on how to avoid fighting the archer zombies first as they tend to take their time firing their arrows, and when they do, they can easily be dodged. She recommended going for the dual-wielding zombies instead since they are more deadly, and worth wasting energy against more. Professor Sarah recommended going for either the scythe-wielding zombies, or the cat-like zombies second. After lecturing about zombies, she moved onto stigmatas. Like Reshia said in the morning, stigmatas can lead to cascading, something Professor Sarah would confirm now. Professor Sarah went on a long lecture on how to avoid stigmata abuse as it can potentially lead to cascading unless anyone has a natural stigmata, which in that case, those users don't suffer from cascading. The thought of cascading just lead to a morbid thought. If cascading leads to people becoming zombies, then technically, all the zombies we'll fight on the field are technically fallen allies. That's really depressing, though because they take the form of one of the few different types of zombies, I don't think anyone will truly notice. Then again, knowing that a zombie was possibly a past ally is not reassuring.
The class went on for 2 hours, like every other class, with Professor Sarah going over other things, like providing medical support on the field. The final class bell rang at 6:00. Everyone began leaving the classroom. The only ones left were Kyle, Tobias, Reshia, Professor Sarah, and I. I was exhausted after today. I rested my head on the desk temporarily before Reshia stood up.
"Come on Tendou, let's go." Reshia commanded.
I sighed, lifting my tired head off the desk until I was prevented by Kyle slamming his hand on my desk.
"So, Reshia? Tell me, why are you with a low ranking Chevalier? I don't see anything special with him." Kyle interrogated.
Oh no, here we go again…
"Actually, who is this Chevalier anyways, I haven't seen him anywhere in the school until today!" Tobias questioned.
"This guy? His name is Tendou. He's a new Chevalier who joined today. Dude says that he suffers from amnesia or something, which I think is bullshit!" Kyle ridiculed.
"Tendou is his name? As in, the Tendou who beat my sister to a pulp? Huh? Either this guy is strong, or my sister is just pathetic weak. I'm betting on the latter." Tobias snickered.
"Don't ridicule your sister like that dude. Maybe she just let him win and he just went overboard."
"Ah, true, true. But yeah, this guy doesn't look so special. I could beat him 10 times over!"
"Holy damn, I didn't think we would meet someone as egotistical as Kyle." Lessica bleated. '
"Could've fooled me." I acknowledged.
"Will the both of you shut up!" Reshia scolded.
"I know he's a low ranking Chevalier, but I was assigned by the Overseer to watch over him. As a maid, I'll perform my duty."
"Oh, so the Overseer assigned you. My god, not only does he have amnesia, but he also has to be babied." Kyle spoofed.
"Oooh, I got an idea! How about you ignore the Overseer's word, and join Tobias, me, and my other friends! We'll treat you so much better than this loser right here." Kyle said, pointing at me.
Amidst this argument, I…stayed silent. I really wanted to get up and smack Kyle and Tobias, but what prevented me from doing so was exhaustion. Not only that, but there's a likely chance that Kyle and Tobias were too strong for me to handle. Kyle stated himself to be an S-Rank earlier today, and since he's friendly to Tobias, and Kyle follows the social hierarchy, Tobias was probably an S-Rank as well. Lessica probably could, but I don't think she has enough time to handle both of them.
"Screw off! I'm not going to join you and your fuckboy of friends!" Reshia screamed.
Reshia's scream startled not only me, but Kyle, Tobias, and even Professor Sarah, who was spectating from the side.
"All of you are extreme assholes, yearning off of the hormones of horny girls! You don't care about the girls at all, you just want to fuck them, and satisfy your libido! Don't try talking to me again!" Reshia fumed.
"Oh come on babe, you know those rumors aren't true-."
"DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME BABE!"
Reshia turned around. She fiercely grabbed my wrist and tried pulling me away, but Tobias stepped in front of Reshia, preventing her from leaving.
"Now hold on girl. You've never dated any one of us yet. You can't judge us just from baseless rumors." Tobias asserted.
"Baseless? Tell that to your sister." Reshia complained.
"Kathlynn? She seems fine dating with Kyle-."
"I'm not talking about Kathlynn, I'm talking about Claudia."
Claudia? She dated Kyle once? Huh? I guess she figured out that Kyle was an asshat and managed to escape.
"Claudia is Claudia, she isn't like every other girl who has taste."
"I don't care if she has taste or not, I'm still not dating you guys."
The guys were about to speak up until Professor Sarah stepped in. She slapped both of them on the head with a stack of paper.
"Will you two please leave? You've already harassed this girl enough!"
Kyle and Tobias scoffed at Professor Sarah, but surprisingly they didn't try to hit on her. They both grabbed their stuff and left. Good riddance, for now at least. Reshia was pulling me again to leave, but Professor Sarah stopped both of us.
"Tendou, I need you to follow me. The lab just finished your battle suit and they want you to try it first to see if any adjustments are needed."
"Oh right, my battle suit. Sure, I'll come." I reluctantly answered.
"Come on Reshia, let's go."
Lessica's Perspective
"Come on Reshia, let's go."
I've been spectating over Tendou throughout this entire day. Inside this mental realm full of blue and purple flower, water, and the Earth, was just Tendou and I. Tendou was in the center of the circle, looking up at the monitor. I was sitting on the ground, water? I sat in front of Tendou and stared at the holographic monitor. Tendou, Sarah, and Reshia were walking out of the building and headed towards the main Schicksal building. They ascended above the floors, stopping at floor 24. All three got off the elevator before moving into a room. Inside this room were other people, and other battle suits in development. We passed by many suits in the development process until we reached a certain battle suit. The fact that they all stopped at this battle suit already tells me that it's Tendou's battle suit.
Tendou's battle suit was primarily colored white with some black secondary colors, and neon blue accents. The entire torso had very light armor which looked like it was modeled after a high neck waistcoat. The legs were barely covered with armor, only covering most of his shins in the front and half on the back. The upper legs were completely unprotected. The shoes, or in this case, boots seemed to be metallic, probably for armor purposes. The strangest thing about his suit was that it had a trench coat. It reached down all the way to his ankles, and the sleeves were almost hugging his arms. It doesn't look bad, but it seems practically useless. The final thing of this battle suit was that it had a belt and a slightly thick one as well. It doesn't seem to have a purpose at all, but unlike the trench coat, it doesn't seem to hinder Tendou at least. The belt was wrapped around the trench coat, essentially making the trench coat sort of hugged him at his waist.
"It looks decent I guess, but don't you think the trench coat is useless?" I pondered to Tendou, looking up at him in the mental realm.
"Oh, I thought I was the only one who thought it was useless." Tendou agreed, his mental figure still staring at the monitor.
"I'll be honest, I thought you would have been fond of the idea, considering how you like to wrap a jacket around your shoulders."
"I would have done that with this trench coat, but it's too long! It'll be a hindrance in combat."
Sarah walked next to the battle suit. She took a small button with some glue or something from the back of the suit and gave it to Tendou.
"Attach this somewhere on your body, and it should give you access to materialize your suit at any time."
Tendou grabbed the button and attached it on his left wristband, which is a pretty smart move in my opinion. He tapped the button, causing the suit to disappear in front of him. Starting from the location of the button, a bunch of blue hexagonal holographic shapes began scaling his entire body. Shortly following those hexagons was his battle suit materializing on him. It took a full 4 seconds to completely materialize. The battle suit managed to fit Tendou perfectly well, though he still retained his black fedora on his head while his black jacket somehow disappeared. His black fedora did not fit the suit's aesthetic at all and was practically the odd one out. Maybe if it had some armor pieces that were white that covered his fedora, but it seems like a waste of material.
"So, how's the battle suit?" Sarah asked.
"It fits well, but what's with the trench coat? Seems useless, if not a bit counter-intuitive."
"Well, I just wanted to add it because it looked cool." Sarah considered.
"I mean, Professor Sarah isn't wrong Tendou, it does look cool." Reshia complemented.
"Maybe, but looking cool on the battlefield won't benefit me in any way. Can you just like remove it altogether, or at a minimum, just cut it short?"
"Mmmmm…..nah, I made the coat myself. I'm not going to waste all that time making it just for it to get thrown away." Sarah complained.
"Ugh, fine, I'll keep it."
Tendou lifted the sleeves of the trench coat. The button that activated his battle suit was now imbedded into his armor at the same place that it was at earlier. Actually, underneath the sleeve of the trench coat was more armor. The only part that wasn't armored was his hand, which were covered with a black glove, but even the top of his hand and the top of his finger was covered with some armor.
"What's with this belt?" Tendou asked.
"That belt, it's to activate Time Fracture. You just hit the side of the belt and it will activate Time Fracture." Sarah explained.
The belt had a small box on the left with a button. I'm guessing that is to activate time fracture.
"Go on, activate it." Sarah requested.
With that statement, Tendou slapped the side of the belt with his hand. Within the same time span, the entire world became purple. Every person in the room became frozen to time, or just very slow in the movement of time. This effect lasted for 7 seconds before the world went back to normal.
"So, how is it?" Reshia asked.
"…I mean, it's not a new experience I guess?" Tendou told back.
"Not a new experience? Isn't this your first time activating time fracture?" Sarah asked.
"…..No, but I don't want to talk about the first time….."
"Wait, when did you activate time fracture? You didn't even have your suit until now." Reshia mouthed.
"…It's…complicated….can I just go back to my dorm now?"
"Uh….um…..sure?" Sarah confusingly said.
Tendou pressed the button on his left wrist. The suit began disappearing in a reverse fashion of how it materialized on him. Actually, now that I think about it, where was his weapons? I know he fights using his fist, but doesn't this school provide fist fighters with gauntlets?
"Tendou, ask them about your weapons?"
"Weapons, you mean the gauntlets? Sure."
"Professor Sarah, where are my gauntlets?"
Sarah turned around to fast Tendou. She slightly adjusted her white lab coat before answering.
"Gauntlets? We actually decided to build them into your battle suit. It was actually something experimental the Overseer wanted to do to see how fist fighters will perform."
I guess that makes sense. The training gauntlets that Tendou wore on Friday were pretty bulky, and if Sarah was right about Tendou's gauntlets, then the gauntlets were probably his gloves, which were pretty slim. Maybe it could have an effect on performance.
"Oh, I see, well, I'll be heading back to my dorm now, see you tomorrow." Tendou bid farewell.
"Have a good night." Sarah said.
Tendou left the laboratory alongside with Reshia. It was starting to get late into the day. Tendou was tired after today. I wasn't at all, though I really don't have a reason to be. I didn't do jack shit today! I'm also a bit hungry as well because Tendou was probably hungry as well. Knowing him, he'll probably get the maid to cook him something-.
"Hey Reshia, you've done enough today, and went to a lot today. You should just go home for the day." Tendou ordered.
"Go home?" Reshia stuttered.
Realizing that he was about to trigger another panic attack, he made an attempt to calm Reshia down.
"Please don't think of it that way. I just want you to rest up for the day. You've had to deal with the bullshit with Tobias and Kyle in my stead, and I know you're a bit stressed over it, so please just rest up." Tendou begged.
"Oh….alright." Reshia breathed.
She still seemed a bit sad, but at least she isn't crying like a bitch. But still though…
"What the fuck Tendou?!"
"What?"
"Why did you tell her to go home?! She could have cooked you something to eat. I'm hungry, you're hungry!"
"Yeah, but we have snacks at home, we'll be fine."
…ugh. Whatever. Tendou and Reshia left for the elevator and walked back to the dorms. Once at the dorms, they headed to their separate floors. Reshia bid farewell by bowing before the elevator closed. Tendou ascended up to his floor and headed to his dorm. Once inside his dorm, Tendou immediately went to his bed and slouched down onto it. His fedora fell off and bounced on the ground. He rolled around a bit, facing upwards to the roof. Maybe, I should intervene now. I stood up and walked behind Tendou in the mental realm. I raised both of my hands and placed them on Tendou's back. I took a deep breath. Red energy began flowing around myself, and it flowed from my body to Tendou's body. I took another deep breath and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I was now in that crimson accommodation with Tendou. Tendou didn't move at all. I walked over to his bed and crawled on it. I sat on my legs and stared down at Tendou. Tendou turned his head to look at me.
"Are you really this tired?"
"Yeah."
"But you only went to school today. Surely, it can't be tiring?"
"You try going 10 hours of school, trying to remember shit tons of knowledge, especially when you don't know anything."
"Hmph. So, how do you feel about the first day of school?"
"…I've met some weird ass people….."
"I know right. I know everyone is different, but I wouldn't think that the stretch of difference would be enormous."
"Right….."
"Like, that fucking dude, Kyle. Scumbag seems like everything that I hate about humans personified."
"…."
"I thought he was going to be the only one like that, but Tobias was also the same thing. Even Reshia seems to back up that Tobias and Kyle are scumbags."
"…."
"Speaking of Reshia, her abandonment problems are really odd. Maybe it's because we don't know her past, but the fact that she has such problems means something bad about her past. But it's weird regardless to just break down when getting asked about how to cook."
"…"
"Don't even get me started on the teachers. Professor Esponoza is aggressive as hell. Like I get being strict since this world is a cruel reality, but tone down. Palma is very moody. I get you're single, but don't moan about your sex life among your students. No really cares, and no one really needs to know. Connors is so damn horny! She speaks sexually, orgasms over Kyle, probably Tobias too. How the hell are you teaching if you are so goddamn horny?! Am I right Tendou-…..Tendou?"
"…"
Tendou was fast asleep. His torso was on the bed while half of his legs were hanging off of the bed. He really was that tired huh…..
"You really are that tired if you could somehow sleep through my rant." I breathed.
"…Idiot…at least set yourself up properly on the bed before going to sleep…"
