Note: Sorry for the long delay. It has been three years since I have looked at my fanfiction stories. Part of the reason for the delay was just life in general, and it was also a bit due to wanting to finish the Dragon franchise to add more ideas to the story itself. I want to include Frozen 2 once it comes out. Now without further ado, here is the next chapter. I also retconned the ending of the previous chapter a bit, since I wanted to make this version of the story darker.

The Plot Begins

The brown-haired guard bundled up the corpse of the loyal guard that he just murdered. He wrapped him with the blood soaked papers that had been lying on his desk beforehand. The loyal guard's reports would vanish with him. The brown-haired guard hoisted the body onto his shoulder, and made his way down the corridor. He kept an eye out for any other guards, because not all of them were part of Prince Han's plan.

The halls he walked through were deserted, and the only sounds were his footsteps along the ground, and the occasional sound of the body cocooned in the blanket swaying. He got outside unburdened by his fellow guards, and he made his way to the fjord. Once he got to the edge, he gathered some rocks he had found close to the water, and weighed the body down with them. With a mighty push, he disposed of the body of the once loyal guard. He retreated back to the office, where the murder took place, and went to work cleaning up the evidence of the attack.

In Berk

Stoick paced around the Great Hall, his people sat watching him, waiting for their Chief's course of action. War had been declared on Arendelle, but the plan of attack had to be thought out. Maps were flung across the table, Arendelle was not on any map that they had, so they had to change their plan of attack.

"We will find these kidnappers, and burn their homes to the ground, until they give me back my son!" Stoick bellowed.

The crowd roared their approval.

"We will burn the North, the East, the West, the South, it doesn't matter, my son will be returned to me!"

"Chief Stoick!" Astrid called out. "Send us Dragon Riders, we can cover more ground!"

"Thank you Astrid, I will also send the message to our allies that Berk's heir has been kidnapped."

The crowd roared their approval once more.

"The first step in recovering my son is going to start, once we get word on where Arendelle is located in relationship to us, we will attack them. We will get Hiccup back. You are all dismissed."

The crowd dispersed, leaving only Stoick, Gobber, Astrid, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Snotlout. The small group gathered, and huddled near a map, that depicted Berk, and the possible locations of Arendelle from them. The map also sported punctures from Stoick's dagger from previous battles with the dragons.

"We will have to split you up to send you to different locations to search for Hiccup. We will send the twins to the south, Fishlegs to the east, Snotlout to the west, and Astrid to the north."

Fishlegs was swaying his arms on either side of himself, and moving back and forth, which distracted the Chief.

"What is it Fishlegs?" Stoick demanded.

"Sorry Chief, I was thinking that bringing the Terrors would be a good course of action too. That way we can keep in touch."

"Good idea." Stoick replied. "I need you to leave by tonight. If Hiccup is the prisoner of those like the Outcasts, when we were enemies, he could be set to be executed. The Beserkers cannot know of this either, otherwise Dagur will be after my son as well."

"Yes sir, we will leave in an hour." Astrid replied.

The small group dispersed. Stoick stayed in the Great Hall, stewing over his decisions. Gobber stayed behind, but kept his mouth shut, and just watched his Chief. Stoick turned to the shields that hung along the wall, which showed the old and young rulers together. He traced his fingers along the face of the painting of his son.

Over Berk

A black shape cut through the air around Berk. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself, sniffed the surrounding air. His artificial tail, which Hiccup had been testing on him before being kidnapped, helped him stay airborne. He despised the tail, but would bear it until he found his rider. He circled around Berk, until a faint scent hit his nose. Once the dragon locked onto the smell, he vanished into the clouds.

Astrid flew with her dragon Stormfly, she carried her Terror and Hiccup's Terror with her. She had wanted to leave Hiccup's Terror with Stoick, but he had her bring both, so she could communicate with more than one group. The twins by default had two Terrors, and Snotlout and Fishlegs each had one. However, Stoick's reasoning was that Hiccup's Terror would be able to have a better sense of where he was, and he also felt that Astrid's direction would be the most fruitful search.

"Don't mess around this is serious, we are going to war!" Astrid told the other teens.

For once no one, including the twins, felt like joking.

"Be safe, and send your Terrors if you find Hiccup." Astrid told them.

With a nod, the teens flew away, and into their assigned directions.

Arendelle

Hiccup woke up the next day, oblivious to the war brewing just beyond the horizon. He stretched as much as he could with his still fairly injured arm, and got off his too soft bed. He heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." Hiccup said. "Though, I don't know why, because this is your castle."

A servant entered.

"That may be so, Master Hiccup, but you are the guest of our Queen, and she has requested that you get treated as such." The servant told him. "Considering the circumstances of your arrival. It is nice to see that your voice is much stronger as well."

The servant placed a tray on the table next to him. Hiccup looked over, and saw some fancy food, which he had not seen yet with all the meals he had seen so far. Everything was fancy, and placed on delicate dishes, or glasses.

"Enjoy your breakfast, the Queen will summon you when she needs you, Princess Anna won't be joining you today, she will be with Sir Kristoff." The servant told him.

"Thank you for letting me know." Hiccup told the servant.

The servant bowed, and left the room. Once they were gone, Hiccup pulled the tray towards him. He winced when a flash of pain raced through both his arms, and almost dropped the tray. Once the pain subsided, he gingerly picked at the food. Hiccup looked at the food, and went for the one that looked the most like food he recognized. He took a bite, and almost spat out the food, it was very sweet. He took a swig of what looked like Yak milk, and almost spit that out too. Everything was too sweet!

I miss my dad's cooking.

Hiccup's stomach growled, so he decided to eat the too sweet food. His favorite was a small bowl that was frozen milk mixed with the rare treat of chocolate. The milk was not Yak milk, and a bit too sweet, but it tasted familiar to home. His eyes involuntary filled up with tears, he wanted to see his home again.

Elsa heard rapid knocking against her door. When she opened it, she saw one of her guards in front of her door. The guard was holding a piece of paper, and once she got close, handed it to her.

Dear Queen Elsa,

I fear I must depart home, a family emergency has come up, and I had to leave without informing my fellow guards. This means that I have had to put my investigations on hold.

Sincerely,

Ada Knight.

Elsa gave a slight smile at her old guard's name. Her father often joked, in such rare times, that the old guard was born for his job. The smile vanished when she realized that her old guard had to stop his investigations. However, there was nothing she could really do at the moment, she was not going to force him away from family.

"Thank you for this note." Elsa said. "You are dismissed."

"Yes, My Queen." The guard replied.

The guard bowed to her, and then left. Elsa folded up the letter, and placed it in her drawer. She looked at the schedule Kai had dropped of the night before, and went over her duties for the day. She had time for breakfast, and after that it was a hearing to see what actions she would have to take against Duke Weaselton. Hiccup would have to be summoned as a witness for the proceedings. She let out a soft sigh, and started her day.

Anna stood gazing out at Arendelle. Kristoff stood behind her, Sven his reindeer at his side. He cast a worried gaze in her direction.

"Anna…" He began.

"Kristoff, look at how pretty the day is so far, it is nice and warm." Anna interrupted.

"Anna, what those guards did to you…" Kristoff tried again,

"Kristoff, please, I don't want to think about it anymore. I just want to spend time with you." Anna told him.

Kristoff walked over, and gently took her hand, he gazed at her, and realized that she was crying. He gently, but awkwardly, wiped the tears away. He placed a gentle kiss on her cheek, which caused her to wrap her arms around him. He stiffened when she burst into tears, but held her tightly against him. Sadness flowed through his chest, because seeing Anna cry broke his heart. He stared straight ahead, vowing to get his revenge on the guards that hurt her.

Hiccup stared at the wall, there was not much to do, because his arms still caused him slight pain. He could not draw or write, due to his injury. He also could not read, for whatever reason he could understand the language spoken, he could not read it. He sighed and lay on the bed, just watching the world outside. He was starting to fall asleep, when he heard a knock at the door.

"Master Hiccup, you are needed by the Queen."

Hiccup sighed, and stood up.

"Come in."

"Thank you Master Hiccup, we will have to get you changed for the meeting." The servant told him.

The servant laid down an outfit for him, and Hiccup picked it up. It was the same type of outfit that had been given to him, except this one was in blue. He picked up to change into, hoping the servant would leave, but they stayed.

"Um, I am capable of changing my own clothes, thank you."

"I was instructed by the Queen to report any injuries that you may be hiding, and to make sure that you are ready on time. Plus, I must make your hair presentable as well."

"Thanks…" Hiccup replied.

He tried to ignore the servant behind him as he changed. He was a bit self-conscience about people seeing how skinny he was. Even Astrid didn't see him shirtless. He quickly got changed, and reluctantly let the servant brush his hair. He caught his reflection in the mirror.

I am looking less and less like a Viking every second.

The servant led Hiccup through the castle halls, until they reached a room with double doors. The servant opened the doors, and announced Hiccup to the audience. Hiccup was led into the room, where he saw what he assumed was the council, surrounding Queen Elsa. The council was made up of at least twelve people, with Queen Elsa along them. At Hiccup's level were about six more people, everyone was staring at him.

That's it, I'm dead.

"Hiccup, don't be afraid, we just want to ask you some questions." Elsa told him.

"I'm dead aren't I?" Hiccup asked.

"No, no, we just need to know a bit about you, so we can return you to your home, and get to the bottom of your kidnapping."

Hiccup looked over and noticed that one person was writing stuff down, while another person appeared to be drawing them.

"So, I am guessing I am the guest of honor in this lovely trail."

"You aren't in trouble. Please sit down, and just let us ask a few questions."

"Okay, you may not like what you hear."

Hiccup sat down on a cushioned chair, and turned to face an old. The old man was skinny, and had a rather large nose, and beady looking eyes. He held himself stiffly in front of Hiccup, and looked down at the young Viking.

"Okay, first things first, what is your full name?" Big Nose asked.

"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third." Hiccup replied.

Hiccup heard a few snorts of laughter, which were immediately silenced by Big Nose's glare.

"So, tell us about your family Master Hiccup. Who are your grandparents? What tribe you belong to, and why you would be targeted by anyone."

Hiccup noticed the slight sneer in Big Nose's questioning. Big Nose did not think Hiccup was in the same league as him. Hiccup knew that look, he was the sole receiver of that look before the dragons. He let out a sigh, before he began answering.

"For one, my family isn't actually the touchy-feely, sweet type, and our names kind of leave much to be desired." Hiccup began. "My most famous relative was named Grimbeard the Ghastly, he was my great-great-grandfather. He was married to a woman named Chinhilda. They had three sons together, Thugheart, Chucklehead, and Hiccup Horrendous the Second. Hiccup/ like me, was the runt in his family. Hiccup is given to the runts of the tribe, or at least it is for my family."

"Go on." Big Nose told him.

"Hiccup the Second was abandoned in the wild, until he was found again, and raised with his family. Years after that, due to a misunderstanding, Grimbeard murdered him. Thugheart started the whole thing due to favoritism issues, but instead of killing him, he was outcast."

Hiccup paused, and saw that his audience was giving him various looks. Some were pity, some were shock, Big Nose stared in disgust. Hiccup signaled for some water, and after taking a sip, continued his story.

"Thugheart married a woman named Sychofanta, and they had a son named Algarick Ogglehart. Rumor has it that he married a Witch, and had a son named Alvin the Treacherous. I know an Alvin, hopefully they aren't the same, because that would raise all sorts of issues, but answer a lot too. My grandfather was the second son, he married a woman named Buffitrude the Seventh. They had a son named Squidface, and a daughter named Honking Henrietta."

Hiccup heard the snickers again, but he continued.

"Squidface the Terrible married Brenda Bigarms the sixth. They had Brenda Bigarms the seventh, Egginbreeza sixpints, my father Stoick the Vast, Gladioli of the Monobrow, Burly Sweet, Glugga, and my Uncle Spitelout."

Hiccup took a sip of water, while his audience tried to stifle their laughter.

"My aunts were married to different tribes, and my uncle Spitelout lives with us on Berk. I have a cousin named Snotlout, who is his son. My dad married a woman, my mom, who was named Valka. They had me after my dad became Chief of the village, where I am his heir."

"Tell me." Big Nose said. "Why was your great-great grandfather considered famous?"

"Grimbeard the Ghastly was a very brutal Viking King. He united the Vikings tribes under himself, and claimed himself the King of the Wilderwest."

"Wait, let me get this straight, your great grandpa was born a prince?" Elsa asked. "He was never exiled, or killed?"

"No, he kept his status throughout his life." Hiccup replied.

"Your great-great grandfather was a King?" Elsa asked.

"Yes, but he disbanded his kingdom long ago." Hiccup replied.

"Nevertheless, you are a Viking Prince!" Big Nose exclaimed.

"I am not!" Hiccup snapped back. "My great-great grandfather was a huge bully who declared himself King, didn't want to deal with the responsibility, and disbanded the kingdom. I am just a normal Viking whose father just happens to be a Chief!"

Hiccup paused to catch his breath, and noticed that Elsa glared at Big Nose.

"Change of subject, please." Elsa interrupted.

"Yes, My Queen." Big Nose said. "Now, Prince Viking Hiccup…"

Hiccup glared at him,

"…what do you remember of the day you were kidnapped."

Hiccup tried to remember, he felt a pinch of dizziness, but ignored it.

"A group from Arendelle arrived, spouting something about bringing peace to the Viking tribes…" Hiccup began.

"The Queen sent no such parties!" Big Nose exclaimed.

"Enough!" Elsa commanded. "Let him speak."

Hiccup nodded at her.

"There were two people. One man was really old, and called himself the Duke of Weselton. He was with someone else…"

The dizziness returned full force as Hiccup tried to remember the other man.

"Well?" Big Nose demanded.

Hiccup's vision blurred.

"I can't…there was tea…and I, I…."

Hiccup's vision turned black, and Big Nose caught him, before he hit the ground. Everyone swarmed around him, and Hiccup could hear some voices. Before he blacked out completely, he heard the Queen asking for a healer.

TO BE CONTINUED…

Note: I followed the books for Hiccup's heritage. Also, the stress of trying to remember what happened caused Hiccup to faint. You could consider it amnesia due to stress, or selective amnesia. Anyway, sorry for the long wait, and the next chapter will be out sooner than three years.
