Bluey and Jenny
Season one Episode twenty six: The Love of a Grandparent
A Blue Heeler was shown in her bed as a German Shepherd about her age jumped on top of her, making her laugh with upbeat music playing. "Bluey and Jenny, (Bluey and Jenny fall out of bed while laughing) they're rarely seen without the other." Bluey and Jenny are shown to be in school wth a red heeler riding on Bluey's back, and a younger German Shepherd on Jenny's back. "Both are older sisters, (Jenny lifts her leg with Bluey gagging while laughing, Bingo just gagging, and the other German Shepherd laughing) as well as best friends forever."
Bluey and Jenny were shown to be walking through the forest with Bluey looking around in amazement. "Bluey is the truster, (Jenny is shown slashing at leaves with her sword) Jenny is the tomboy, (Bluey and Jenny find an amazing view of their town and look over it) they can make quite the pair." Bluey and Jenny are shown to be playing with Bingo and the younger German Shepherd as Jenny cuts down a bag of candy from a rope. "Also making things fun for Bingo and Chase, (All four of the kids laugh) with all the time they share."
Bluey and Jenny are shown to be decorating some kind of tree house in a backyard. "It's not imaginary, (Bluey and Jenny look out the window with Jenny giving a peace sign and Bluey leaning on the window) it's Bluey and Jenny."
The episode continued from where the previous episode left off with Muffin looking as if she was about to have her turn at charades, only for her to yell for something else. "I need ballewina music!"
Bluey, Jenny, and Bingo all groaned in sync with Socks giving an annoyed look with Nana trying to think of a way to keep things from escalating. She then beamed when she came up with an idea to sing the ballerina music herself. "How about I think you some?"
Nana started singing the ballerina music for Muffin, only for her to continue her temper tantrum as she stamped her feet on the ground. "NOOOOO! (Stops stamping her feet) It needs to be proper ballewina music!"
Jenny got down from the couch and picked up the charades card box as Bluey tried to reason with Muffin. "You don't need music Muffin; you just need-"
"I, want, MUSI-" Jenny threw the charades box directly at Muffin, hitting her smack on the nose and shocking everyone as Muffin fell to the ground.
As Muffin sat up and started crying, Jenny walked into the kitchen as she hid any form of sympathy she could. "I'm getting a soda."
"Jenny!" Bluey scolded, and then Socks ran over to Muffin to comfort her with Bingo and Nana looking worried as Bluey spoke to Nana. "I'm sorry Nana, I should've told you that Jenny has limits on her patience. Big limits."
"Oh it's not your fault little one." Nana assured Bluey, knowing that she was very mature for her age. "Now you go and talk to Jenny while I help Muffin." Bluey nodded in response and walked off with Bingo as Nana went over to Muffin, who was still sniffling from the impact of the charades box. "Feeling better littling?" Muffing nodded her head no, wishing that Jenny didn't throw the charades box at her.
Jenny was in the kitchen looking for a soda as Bluey and Bingo came in with Bluey speaking up as the German Shepherd looked through the fridge. "Jenny, I think you should apologize to Muffin. I know you were angry, but throwing the charades box at her was uncalled for."
"Bluey, you know I need my sugar before we talk about stuff like that." Jenny reminded Bluey, finding the sodas in the back of the fridge and cracking open a cherry one before chugging it down within ten seconds. She then crushed it with her head and tossed it into the trash can, holding in her burp before speaking up. "So what's this about Muffin?"
Bluey started explaining what she wanted Jenny to do again, knowing that she would need context before she got started. "Look Jenny; I know you were upset about how Muffin was behaving, but that's still no excuse for throwing the charades box at her. You could've just quit the game."
"And also, now Uncle Stripe and Aunt Trixie might find out about this and not want you playing with her again." Bingo pointed out, making Jenny start to feel bad, since she did love Muffin, even if her behavior today set her off. "But maybe if you fix things with Muffin they won't keep her away from you."
Jenny realized the fridge was still open and closed it, leaning on the door as she explained her side of things. "It's not like I WANTED to hurt her, it was just the fastest way to make her stop. (Crosses her arms) And I don't get why Nana kept sucking up to her the whole time either. Mum says MY grandparents would've spanked me if I did that, as if I was scared of them."
Bluey and Bingo became a little more concerned when they heard that with Nana being heard nearby. "Believe it or not, that sort of thing used to be legal."
Bluey, Jenny, and Bingo saw Muffin, Socks, and Nana coming into the kitchen with Bluey speaking up about how Nana was dealing with Muffin. "Nana, maybe you could tell us WHY you handled Muffin's behavior the way you did?"
Nana instantly realized that Bluey was asking this for Jenny, who, after getting a good look at her confused and upset expression, she realized that she lacked the knowledge on this stuff. She knew the best method would be to calmly guide her to the reason as she kneeled down to her. "It's hard to explain without sounding like a bad grandparent. I guess the best way one could describe it is...grandparent's love. The kind love that showers you in gifts unconditionally, and will do anything to make you happy?" Jenny looked at Nana, who felt she could ask her question now. "Does that help you understand?"
"I guess." Jenny answered, wishing she had the kind of grandmotherly love that Nana gave to her grand kids. "I don't have a lot of happy memories with my own grandparents. The only good time we had together was when Chase was born, and we haven't seen them in person since the move."
Bluey and the others took notice to Jenny's mood as the German Shepherd tried to be nice about it with Nana hatching an idea as she stood up and walked off. "Come with me little ones." Bluey and the others followed Nana with Jenny looking at Bluey with confusion, leaving Bluey to smile as she put a paw on her best friend's shoulder, knowing that Nana had something good planned."
Nana pulled out a box from her closet and showed it to Bluey and the others with all of them being intrigued by it as Muffin spoke up. "What's in the box nana?"
"You're about to find out Muffy." Nana assured Muffin, and then she opened up the box and found another box inside of it. This led to the other kids being confused for a bit, and then Nana started turning the handle on it, revealing a ballerina and revealing to them what it was. Nana then talked about something from when she was a child. "My nana always played this for me whenever I had a bad day. She really was the most tender thing. No matter what went wrong in my life, all she had to do was show me this and everything would be okay."
Jenny was starting to understand the love of a grandparent better with Bluey chiming in as she stood next to her. "I think I get what she's trying to show you Jenny. The love of a grandparent is the kind of love that's meant to make you happy no matter what. Maybe the way they show their love is making sure their grandkids are happy, like what HER nana did when she was our age."
Jenny looked at the music box and held back any serious emotions she might've been gaining from it, smiling as she tried to stay positive. "It would be nice to see my grandparents again. At least to see if they've changed."
"Maybe one day you will." Jenny turned around and saw Muffin standing there, and she was smiling genuinely, seeming to be over Jenny throwing the charades box at her. "If they did, I'd like to meet them."
Jenny was glad to hear that as she then started to show that she felt bad about hurting Muffin physically, trying to apologize the best she could. "Listen Muffin. (Muffin gives Jenny her full attention the best she can) I, um...you know that stupid word that for some reason-"
Muffin's attention was suddenly caught by the music box, pointing out that they never finished their game. "We never finished Chawades!" Jenny smiled with the others laughing a bit, finding that Muffin was already over the incident as is.
Bluey and the others were in the living room as they all ate some of the chicken that Nana made with Jenny chowing down on it. Nana took notice to how much of a messy eater Jenny with Bluey giggling as she pointed out why. "She likes chicken. And all foods really." Jenny let out a loud burp after finishing her chicken as Bluey asked her about how she felt regarding today. "So Jenny. Do you think you'll still be okay with hanging out with Muffin and Socks after today?"
Jenny saw that Muffin and Socks were happily eating their chicken and felt that they didn't see any reason to hold a grudge. "If they're over the charades box thing, then I'm over it. Plus, holding grudges is boring unless you're a sad sack with no life."
"That's a yes, right?" Bingo asked, wanting to make sure she understood Jenny's wording correctly, and Jenny looked over Bluey and gave her a thumbs up to respond, making Bingo smile back. "Okay, good." Bingo went back to eating her chicken with everyone else having a good time finishing off the day. Bluey knew that today wouldn't be forgotten in any way for a long time, but she was happy that she would get to keep her best friend, and her cousins, in her life. Granted that was never really a risk since they're still children, but still.
Bandit and Stripe were walking up to Nana's apartment as the two of them were having a rather...adult conversation. Stripe was apparently explaining something that kept Bandit's attention, and was also something he seemed keen on doing himself. "And I even got to keep them. It was so quick and painless I almost forgot what I got done."
"Yeah, I heard it's something like that." Bandit admitted, hoping to get it done himself done someday. "I'm keen to get it done, (Darts down to his privates) but Chilli, (Looks back at Stripe) she wants to keep her options open. I mean, do we really want more of these things running around?" Stripe noddedin response to what Bandit was saying as the elder brother then rang the doorbell. The two brothers waited patiently for their daughters, and Jenny, and then Nana opened the door with both of her sons hugging her happily. "Hi mum. Were the girls good."
"You bet they were." Nana assured Bandit and Stripe, deciding not to go into detail on what happened. "Well, there was a bit of trouble in charades, but nothing I couldn't handle."
Bluey and the rest of the girls were still playing as Bandit and Stripe came in with Bandit proudly announcing their arrival. "The Kings have arrived!"
Bluey and Bingo instantly went to hug Bandit with Muffin doing the same for Stripe as Socks jumped into his other arm as Bluey stated what they did. "Today was great! We ate chicken and introduced charades to Muffin and Socks."
"Hey, that's great kid." Bandit replied as he rubbed Bluey's head, and then he looked at Jenny, who was checking in on Chase again as Bandit spoke up with a sly grin. "Let me guess. You wanna have another sleepover."
"You bet." Jenny confirmed as she sent Chase another text, hi giving Bluey as they all bid farewell with Jenny being the last to say goodbye. "Catch ya later Chris! Don't overdose on your elder medication!"
"Jenny, cmon."
"It's a joke Bluey."
Nana laughed at Bluey and Jenny's banter; despite Jenny's joke towards elderly people. She couldn't help but be glad to have helped Jenny through what looked like a difficult patch in her life.
Bluey, Bingo, and Jenny were in Bluey and Bingo's room as Bluey was shown to be working on something while Bingo was making her bed and Jenny was scarfing down some ice cream. As Jenny ate the ice cream, she took notice to the fact that Bluey was drawing something on a jar, and this caught her attention. "Another one of your great ideas coming into play Bluey?"
"You bet!" Bluey exclaimed, knwoing that Jenny was going to lovet his one as she then explained what it was about. "You said you don't get to see your grandparents anymore, right? Well if we ever find out where they live now, assuming they moved, we can save up our money to go and meet them."
Jenny was amazed by this idea and was eternally grateful, but did show a bit of concern, despite smiling at the thought of meeting her grandparents again. "You don't have to do that."
"Oh, I know." Bluey assured Jenny, knowing that she was doing this purely because she wanted to. "I just want you to see your grandparents again, if you decide to. And this is what we'll be using to save up the cash until you can."
Jenny's tail started wagging happily at the sound of this with Bingo coming over to them to get a look at the jar. "Can I help?"
"Yeah, of course." Bluey then got down to naming off some of the things she, Jenny, and Bingo could do to get money when they got down to planning. "I'm thinking we can start with a lemonade stand, so we'll have to go to the park to make it happen."
Bluey, Bingo, and Jenny were in bed with Bluey sleeping as Jenny then woke up and nudged Bluey, waking her up as she then looked over to see what Jenny wanted. She noticed the smile on Jenny's face as she had something genuine to ask of her, making sure to whisper so she didn't wake up Bingo. "How did I end up being best friends with someone like you?"
Bluey wasn't quite sure how to answer that one, so she giggled a bit and decided to wing it, whispering as well to keep quiet and not wake her sister up. "I guess we both just wanted to hang out with each other when we first met. That's probably the only thing I can think of."
Jenny did have to admit that Bluey's theory was sound, but she did have her own point to make. "I threw a box at your cousin today and you still wanna hang out with me. I bet most of our friends would've ran away or kicked me out."
"Then it looks like I'm not like most of our friends." Bluey cheekily replied, and then she assured Jenny that she would be here for her for as long as she could be. "I know being your friend isn't always the easiest thing ever, and that being your BEST friend can sometimes be harder. But I know the real you. The you who wants to protect her brother, and to just have a normal life like everyone else." Jenny couldn't help but beam at that, deciding to head back to sleep with Bluey as the two of them bid each other goodnight for real this time. "Goodnight Jenny."
"Goodnight Bluey." Jenny was glad she managed to have that talk with Bluey, and the feeling was definitely mutual.
