Chapter 33

Ash and Hau are now in a city that is filled with Johto-style buildings, and Ash feels nostalgia by looking at them. Hau says, "Land ahoy! All right! Terra firma under foot again!"

"Aren't you a little overexcited?" Ash sighs as he looks at the giant tower. "But this is the Ula'ula Island..."

"Ula'ula Island is, like, another totally different place than Melemele or Akala, huh!" Hau says, "I've got an idea, Ash! Let's have a battle!"

"A Battle? Right here right now?" Ash is confused a little, but then he shows his usual smirk and says, "I accept the challenge."

"I want my Pokémon to get a deep breath of this fresh new air! Don't worry. I'll make sure both our teams are in the fighting form first." Hau says as he helps Ash heal his Pokemon, and then he says, "Now my first Pokemon is going to be Alolan Raichu!"

After throwing a Pokeball, the Electric and Psychic Type Pokemon appear. Ash says, "I see your Pikachu evolved...since it is a Psychic Type, then I'll be using Drifloon."

As the Ghost Type Pokemon appears on the field, Hau says, "It's your mistake for bringing out a Flying Type. Use Electro Ball!"

"I don't think it is a mistake." Ash replies, "Drifloon! Use Shadow Ball!"

Both ball attacks clash with each other as they are canceled with each other. Then they continue to attack as the crowd starts to gather around Ash and Hau.

At the same time, Lillie is with Aurora and Lusamie as they just get out of the Pokemon Center, Lusamine says, "Looks like your mock trades are doing great."

"Yeah, now we have an Alakazam and Machamp." Lillie says with a smile, but then they notice the whole crowd and she says, "I wonder what is that about..."

They decide to check it out, only to see that Ash and Hau are battling. Ash is using a Drifblim to use Spit Out to defeat Hau's Raichu.

"Damn...evolving into a Drifblim during the battle...not cool, bro."

"Evolving during the middle of battle is quite common." Ash says, "And since we have a lot of Pokemon that is already at the level of evolving, so it might be usual."

"Ash!" Ash and Hau turn and see Lillie, Aurora, and Lusamine walking towards them. Ash says, "Hey, Lillie. Good to see you here."

"Yeah, but what are you doing?" Lillie asks.

"I'm having a three on three battle with Hau, so far I won thanks to my evolved Drifblim."

"You were just lucky, my next Pokemon is going to beat you." Hau says as he sends out Vaporeon. Ash says, "A Vaporeon, huh?"

Lillie says, "Ash, how about you try this out with this Pokemon?"

Ash takes the Pokeball and throws it, and it reveals a Machamp. "A Machamp? I mean...this is cool, thanks, Lillie."

Lillie smiles as Ash and Hau battle with Machamp and Vaporeon. Machamp goes for Seismic Toss, which throws Vaporeon into the wall, but Vaporeon manages to get back up and uses Water Pulse, which confuses Machamp.

"Just great..." Ash mutters as he has been trying not to let Machamp hit itself. In the end, the match is a draw with Machamp uses Submission to defeat Vaporeon, but it is damaged by the recoil.

"Well, I'll show you my final Pokemon, Dartrix!" Hau sends out his final Pokemon, and Ash goes for Trumbeak. After clashing some attacks, Hau says, "Let me show you the power that we got during our Island Challenge in Akala Island!"

Ash and Trumbeak look at Hau using the Grassium Z, as he yells, "Bloom Doom!"

"Quick! Dodge it!" Ash yells, but it's too late, the flowers manage to damage Trumbeak, but not being effective, Trumbeak manages to stand and it starts to glow as well.

"Another evolution during our battle? That's not fair..." Hau mutters.

"Well, Rotom...can you tell me about this Pokemon?" Ash asks.

"Toucannon, the Cannon Pokémon, and the evolved form of Trumbeak. Its beak heats up to over two hundred degrees, and its peck can inflict a serious burn."

Rotom tries to touch Toucannon's beak and says, "That's strange, its beak isn't that hot..." But as he continues to touch the beak, Toucannon is a little annoyed as he starts to heat its beak and burns Rotom.

"So that means you are capable of learning Beak Blast...then let's do it! Use Beak Blast!"

Toucannon starts to charge its energy and then it attacks Dartrix, causing serious damage and also a burn. Hau says, "Oh no..."

"Now let's finish this." Ash says as he takes out the Flyium Z, doing the flying pose and yells, "Use Supersonic Skydive!"

Toucannon flies into the air and then crashes down at Dartrix, causing it to faint in the end.

"Bwah! I had my breath held that whole battle!" Hau says. "That battle took my breath away! I can't breathe the fresh air that way!"

"Well, I can feel the same way." Ash says while recalling Toucannon. Lillie hugs Ash and says, "That is an amazing battle."

"Thanks, Lillie. How is your memory progress?" Ash asks, and she sighs, "Well, I managed to remember the time when I met Aria for the first time...and it stops after the time when you released Goodra back then."

"I see...but that means you remember the battle with me and Clemont, right?" Ash asks, and Lillie nods.

"That is great progress." Aurora says, "Though you're supposed to meet up with Professor Kukui at Malie Garden, don't forget about that."

"Oh right." Ash says.

Hau says, "Why'd he want us to go to a garden? Guess we'll find out when we get there, right?"

"I guess so." Ash sighs. "What about you, Mother? Are you coming with us?"

"We are going back to Poke Pelago. But don't worry, I have given Lillie a Pokemon that will help you out." Aurora says as Lillie takes out the Pokemon, Ash widens his eyes as he knows that the Pokemon is no other than Type: Null, considering that Lillie's brother has one.

"Is that Type: Null? How did you get your hands on it?" Ash asks in horror.

"Do you forget we are Arceus?" Aurora sighs. "Though Rotom, you might need the data about Type: Null, right?"

Rotom nods as Aurora raises her hand to give Rotom some powers. Rotom says, "Type: Null. The Synthetic Pokemon. Normal Type. Due to the danger that this synthetic Pokémon may go on a rampage, it wears a control mask to restrain its power."

Ash says, "I see...so that's the control mask..."

"And since we've made it to Ula'ula Island now, this means a whole new Island Pokedex!" Rotom says. "It's all up to you what new Pokemon you'll uncover here, Ash!"

After Rotom is sent back to the bag, Ash, Hau, and Lillie also bid farewell to others as they go to the Malie Garden.

As they get inside, they are in awe at the sight of the garden. Hau says, "I heard that they serve tea somewhere here in Malie Garden... I'll start my search from the bridge here. Why don't you start around the edge of the garden?"

"Sure." Ash says as he and Lillie are now looking around the garden. Ash says, "This garden is giving me Johto and Kanto vibes...I mean...it makes me remember the place I lived..."

"It must be nostalgic for you." Lillie says with a sigh. "Though I have never been to Johto before, and Kanto is way far to remember..."

"Don't worry...I'm sure that you're about to remember everything." Ash says as they continue to walk along the path. The Pokemon they find in the area are already the ones that Ash and Lillie have captured, so they aren't going to anything other than battling trainers and finding Professor Kukui.

"Look, Ash. There is a stand for Castelia Cones." Lillie says. "Do you want some?"

"Sure, I mean, it will be great to relax." Ash says as they purchase the ice creams, but as they are about to find a place to sit down, they already see Professor Kukui waving at them.

"Hey, Professor." Ash says as they all greet him, at the same time, Hau also finds them as he rushes at them as well.

Professor Kukui says, "Hey there! What's going on with you two? Your eyes are shining extra bright today. Did something big happen?"

"Well, we did get to see something interesting." Ash says as they talk while sitting at the table.

Hau says, "Professor! Professor, you gotta hear this! The Ultra Wormhole opened up, like, right in front of us, and there really are Ultra Beasts in there! You've gotta tell Professor Burnet, too!"

They talked a lot about their encounter in the Aether Paradise, and Lillie is also listening to them as she feels unease at the mention of her evil version of her mother.

"Woo! You got to see the Ultra Wormhole and an Ultra Beast? That IS amazing, oh yeah! Sounds like an even better reason to train hard, yeah, on your island challenge! Maybe someday we'll all be able to go through the Ultra Wormhole!"

"Since we are in the Ula'ula Island, do you know the location for our next trial?" Ash asks.

"All right! Your next trial is up on Mount Hokulani! You can catch the bus to get there. Just head to the bus stop on Route 10, yeah?"

"You guys can go ahead without me, Professor. I've got a hot date with a malasada shop! Visiting every last one of them is my own personal island challenge, yeah?"

Ash and Lillie are sweatdropping at Hau and Malassadas, and Kukui giggles and says, "Roger that, good buddy! I'll be waiting at the bus stop, player, whenever you're ready to go!"

After Kukui leaves, Hau says, "Hey, Ash, did you know?"

"Know what?" Ash asks.

"There's an observatory up on Mount Hokulani! And you do know what it is they do at an observatory, right? Hope you do, 'cause I sure as heck don't. Now I'm out!"

After Hau leaves, Ash says, "Observatory...maybe it is a Psychic Type Trial?"

Lillie says, "I am not sure...by the way, we haven't gotten an Electrium Z for Pikachu, right?"

Ash says, "Yeah...or maybe the next trial is an Electric Type Trial as well." Pikachu is excited to hear that maybe the next one is Electric Trial, as he really wants to try out the Electric Type Z move.

Here is a new chapter, Ash and Hau have another battle and both Ash and Lillie received Type: Null from Aurora and Lusamine. The next chapter will be the way to Mount Hokulani, and I will also try to show around Malie City.
