Chapter 35
Now Ash and Lillie are at Route 10, and they are stopped by a woman who says, "Oh? Looks like you two are trial-goers, eh? I've got a favor to ask of you then."
Lillie asks, "Is there something the problem?"
"Route 10 here is long and wide, and it's a great place to let your Pokemon play a bit. My Stufful hadn't been getting much exercise lately, so I let them out of their balls to have them run around a bit...But they haven't come back! I want to look for them, but it's hard for an old lady like me to traipse all around...If you find one of my little Stufful, you just tell them to come back to me. They're impish creatures, but smart as a cookie and with noses that could sniff out anything. They'll find their way back home to me. Will you help me find my Stufful along Route 10?"
"Sure, we're willing to help." Ash says. "But how many Stufful do you have?"
"I've got 8 Stufful lost out there somewhere. Maybe they're hiding?" The lady says, and both Ash and Lillie are stunned at the number.
As they search for the Pokemon, they finally find all 8 of them, and after finding all of them, they return to the lady.
"All of my Stufful have made it back, thanks to you! You've been a great help to me here. I surely do owe you, my young friend. Have this Muscle Band from me, as a token of my appreciation."
They manage to get the Muscle Band and then 15000$, much to their surprise.
"Well, that was too much money..." Ash says. "But then again, we were some sort of rich people."
"I agree with that." Lillie sighs, and then they notice a Pokemon nearby as Ash is interested in catching.
"It is a Skarmory." Ash says. "I think it will be great to have another Steel Type Pokemon."
"If you think about it, is there even a Steel Type trial to begin with?" Lillie asks.
"I don't know." Ash says after capturing the Skarmory with a Quick Ball.
Just then, they arrive at the bus stop as they see two Team Skull grunts who are dancing around the Bus Stop.
"What? You never see somebody take a bus stop to go before?" The first grunt asks.
"Hey yo! You trying to steal our bus stop? Best go find your own, ya heard?" The second grunt says.
"What is up with you guys?" Ash says and the two of them send out Golbat and Raticate to battle. Ash goes with Pikachu while Lillie goes with Sylveon. Ash says, "Maybe it is time to try out the Z move with Pikachu."
Pikachu nods as Ash does the dance, and Pikachu mimics him as well. "Use Catastropika!"
Pikachu then jumps into Ash's arms and is thrown into the air, where it starts spinning around rapidly and becomes surrounded by yellow electricity. It then slams into Golbat with great force.
"Hey yo! When I fight, I'm not supposed to lose!" The grunt yells as he recalls the Golbat. "Dang, I lost? Then my homie's gotta fight you. That's just life in Team Skull."
"We stand up to even the strong, yo! We stand up, but not for long, yo!" The second grunt says, but his Raticate is being defeated by Sylveon's Dazzling Gleam.
"I don't know if you care, but that bus stop weighs about as much as Golem." The Skull grunt says.
"Seriously? You were trying to take the bus stop?" Ash mutters.
"Yo, think about the bus drivers! If we take this bus stop, they can all chill!" But after seeing the Pokemon's glare, he changes, "Oh, I'm over this! Back to livin' large at the mansion, Hmmph!"
Then the grunts run away, as Professor Kukui rushes towards them.
"Ash, Lillie! What's going on? Some Team Skull punks just ran past me going in the other direction, yeah? I sure wish they'd challenge the League instead of getting up to no good all the time..."
"The League?" Ash asks. "But I thought Alola doesn't have a League?"
"Ho-ho! You'll find out soon enough! Just you wait, cousin." Kukui laughs. "But first things first. If you want to head up Mount Hokulani, we should take the bus. It'll blast us up there to the top, yeah, as quick as a Sky Uppercut!"
As the bus arrives, which is called the Exeggutor Express, they ride the bus onto the top of the mountain. The bus stops in front of the Pokemon Center, and Kukui brings both of them to see the view.
"Mount Hokulani is the second tallest mountain in Alola. And the tallest..."
They see a mountain in the distant and Lillie says, "Mount Lanakila..."
"Check it out, Ash, Lillie! You see that steep, jutting, majestic peak right over there? That's Mount Lanakila...the highest peak in Alola!" Kukui says.
"I was just saying it..." Lillie mutters.
"It's a sacred spot, yeah, the closest you can ever get to the Legendary Pokemon of Alola, said to be the sun incarnate and the moon incarnate. That's it! Right there! On the peak of Lanakila! That's where I'll establish our Pokemon League!"
"Wow, you're going to make the League...that was great." Ash says.
"We'll get everybody who's finished their island challenges, yeah, and up there on the peak of Mount Lanakila, they'll battle against the Kahunas to become the island challenge champion! I've always valued our old traditions here in Alola, but it's time to make a Champion the whole world will recognize! It's time to get our own Elite Four and make our own Pokemon League! To think that, someday, the kiddos in Alola will be able to go from being the island challenge champion to the World Champion! And then, when we have our own Champion, they can show the rest of the world what's so special about Alolan Pokemon and their Trainers, yeah!"
"Now that's what I'm talking about. I'm getting fired up!" Ash says.
"You're just the same as always, Ash." Lillie sighs.
"You're still as fired up as ever, eh, "Royal"?"
They turn around and see a man with glasses walking towards them. Kukui says, "Ha, Ash and Lillie, lemme introduce you. This is Molayne. He runs the observatory here, and also manages PC boxes, but he's not Hokukani's captain."
"But I was the captain once, my masked friend." Molayne says as he turns to Ash and Lillie. "It's Ash and Lillie, right? Thanks for coming all the way up Hokulani to visit us. But our Captain Sophocles is a busy young man. Always calculating comets' paths or working on that Festival Plaza thing of his...So I'll just determine whether you're qualified to take on the trial."
"Wait, so you're going to battle us?" Ash asks.
"I'll gladly show you the skills of a Trainer who toughened up while adventuring alongside Kukui back in the day!"
He sends out Skarmory and Metang, so Ash goes for Pikachu while Lillie goes for Delphox.
"Let's show them with the Metal Claw and the Bullet Punch." Molayne says as both attacks hit Pikachu and Delphox, Ash says, "That sure are some strong moves."
Lillie says, "But we have the type advantage. Delphox, let's go with Majestic Fire!"
"Pikachu! Electro Ball on Skarmory!" Ash yells.
Both Pikachu and Delphox manage to strike the move back to the two Steel Type Pokemon. And then they decide to focus on Skarmory first as they finish it off with the Thunderbolt.
"Not bad, but I still have one more Pokemon." Molayne says as he sends out Dugtrio, and it goes with the Earthquake to knock out both Pikachu and Delphox, but Metang is also knocked out by the attack as well.
"What power..." Lillie gasps as they recall their Pokemon.
"Lillie, do you want to battle, or I'll do it?" Ash asks.
"I'll do it." Lillie says, "I choose Pangoro."
As the Fighting Type Pokemon appears, Lillie yells, "Use Stone Edge!"
Pangoro slams his fists to the ground to create some stones, which are not super effective on the Dugtrio. Molayne says, "Let me show you my power."
Ash and Lillie notice the Z Ring on his hand with the Steelium Z, and he does the pose with the fists hitting each other.
"Use Corkscrew Crash!" Dugtrio suddenly turns into a corkscrew and then it slashes at Pangoro, who barely survives the attack.
"Pangoro, are you okay?" Lillie asks.
"That sure is a nice Z move..." Ash says.
"Then I'll return the flavor." Lillie says as she also does the dance with the Fightium Z. "Use All Out Plumbling!"
The fists from Pangoro manages to land a lot of hits on the Dugtrio, causing the Pokemon to faint.
"You're with Kukui...Looks like he brought along good trainers." Molayne recalls the Dugrio. "Well, well, you certainly seem qualified to take on the trial."
"Yeah, I think they're even stronger than we were at this point of our island challenge!" Kukui says as he suddenly turns serious, "One more thing, cousin—the name's Kukui! Who's this Masked Royal you're talking about?!"
Ash and Lillie sigh at how the Professor doesn't want to admit that he is the Masked Royal. But then they are interrupted by Kukui, "All right, cousin, I'm heading back to Malie Garden. I figure Hau should be done eating malasada by now, yeah? I'll make sure he makes it up here, too."
After Kukui leaves, Molayne says, "That guy's as interesting as ever. My old buddy! Welcome to our observatory."
"Thanks." But before they go inside, they feel something weird from the halfway of the mountain as Lillie asks, "Ash, you feel that?"
"Yeah, should we check it out?" Ash asks, and Lillie nods. Ash says, "Sorry, Molayne. But I think we sense something over there, can we get inside later?"
"Of course. But I'm also curious as to what you were sensing. Maybe I should tag along as well." Molayne says as the three of them rush to the half of the mountain.
And this is a new chapter, Ash and Lillie manage to get to the top of Mount Hokulani, but the trial will be the next chapter as I write the battle against Molayne in this one.
