Rex smiled and waved at his neighbors as he walked home. After things had settled down, Rex had moved the Garfront Mercenaries out of Uraya and set up New Gargront on Elysium. Though, these days they mostly served as surveyors of the new land and security, but Rex was fine with the change of pace.

It had now been four years since they came to Elysium, and his first wedding anniversary was coming up. They had waited for a bit, but it was something of a foregone conclusion that he and Pyra were going to get married eventually. He could hardly imagine a happier life than the one he shared with her.

"Hello, Pyra," Rex smiled to his lovely wife as he came home for the evening.

"Good afternoon, Re-achoo!" Pyra sneezed and let out a few flames as she did so.

"Whoa! I don't think I've ever heard you sneeze before. You feeling okay?"

"I…I'm…no, not really," Pyra responded looking somewhat ill, "I haven't felt quite right all day."

"You eat some of Mythra's cooking?"

"I heard that!" The older Aegis came stomping into the room, "I'll have you know I've been improving!"

"Mythra! What brings you by?"

"I came to visit only to find out Pyra wasn't feeling well," Mythra got up in Rex's personal space, "You haven't been neglecting her, have you?"

"What? No! Of course not," Rex could not help but still be slightly intimidated by Mythra at times. Though, he should not be surprised. Ever since they had been split, Mythra seemed intent on smothering Pyra in all sorts of sisterly affection. Extra emphasis on smothering. She often came over during the day while Rex was out even if just to hang out with her sister.

"Mythra, please don't-achoo!" Rex and Mythra backed up to avoid a fireball, "Fight. It's not so bad, really."

"You clearly aren't fine," Mythra huffed, "Blades aren't supposed to get sick. Even when we were connected to Rex we never caught anything."

"Mythra's right. I think we should go get you checked out. Maybe Morag can help. Mor Ardain has come a long way in blade research lately."

"I don't want to be a bother," Pyra sniffled as she resisted the urge to clutch her nauseated stomach.

"It's no problem," Rex reassured, "We can head out first thing in the morning."

"Yeah, and I'll make supper!" Mythra smiled widely as she went back to the kitchen.

"I might need checking out too," Rex murmured to Pyra which did at least make her giggle in response.

"Well, doc?" Rex asked impatiently as the Ardainian researcher looked over the results of Pyra's tests, "What's going on with her?"

"Hmm, well, it seems her ether flows have been thrown slightly off balance, but other than that, nothing seems wrong with her on the blade front."

"Clearly something is up with her," Mythra huffed impatiently. She may have gotten better about that, but not where her baby sister was concerned.

"Mythra…"

"Well, nothing's much wrong on the blade side of things. So, I had a medical doctor weigh in since you two are such unique cases, and, well, it seems we know the cause of the issue."

"What is it?" Rex asked on the verge of a panic, "Is she okay? Is it serious?"

"I wager she'll be fine, but it's certainly serious," The older man smiled at the redhead, "My dear, it seems that you are pregnant."

"P-pregnant?" Pyra's eyes went wide, "But I'm a blade."

"Yes, but you and your sister are no ordinary blades. It seems that the two of you have a mostly human physiology. Where most blades lack a lot of your typical human internal organs, you have a complete set from a brain, to a liver, and apparently reproductive organs as well. I can let you hear the heartbeat if you'd like."

"Um, yes please."

A few seconds later, Pyra was hearing a sound she never thought she would: the sound of her own child's heartbeat. It was all a bit much for her to take in, and the researcher seemed to pick up on that as he excused himself from the room.

"Pregnant…" Pyra was still in shock, "I-I never thought I'd be able to have my own children."

"Is this a happy reaction?" Rex asked cautiously. Personally, he was elated. He always got along with the kids from the village even if he himself grew up quickly, but he was not sure how to interpret his wife's reaction.

"It's a bit overwhelming, but, yes," Pyra smiled, "It's a happy reaction."

"I'm going to be a dad!" Rex pulled her into a tight hug before backing off a bit unsure of how to act now that he knew she was pregnant. Mythra did not seem as cautious as she wrapped the two of them into a bear hug.

"I'm going to be an aunt!" Mythra pulled back and started pacing, "Oh, this will be so cool. Time to start planning it out. I plan to make sure the little tyke loves whenever auntie Mythra comes by."

Pyra smiled watching her sister get caught up in the excitement of her pregnancy. Not that she could blame her. With the initial shock passed, she was smiling widely herself. For the longest time, she never would have imagined being happy, let alone having a family of her own. She had thought about adopting before, but obviously this was not something she had really considered.

"With Mythra acting like this, imagine how the others are going to take it."

Pyra giggled, "Yes. Maybe we should hold off for a bit."

"If that's what you want," Rex could hardly contain his smile, "Parents. Think it's a boy or a girl?"

"How should I know?" Pyra laughed lightly.

"I hope it's a girl," Mythra chimed in energetically, "Imagine all the things I could teach a niece."

"Yeah, well, so long as your cooking is nowhere close to my kid's mouth," Rex shot back.

"Hey now," Mythra stomped with hands on her hips, but as the two went at it in their playful manner, Pyra was ecstatic. She had a home. She had a family.

A/N: Maybe this will become a story of its own, but for now enjoy the one shot. Not sure what the next big project will be.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, but it seems the Rex and Aegis girls only run was actually very doable for the most part. There are parts where you seem to be forced to have party members, but Rex could probably handle it on his own. Of course, there are field checks too, but they don't have to be active to count (though I did add at least one to Rex I think thinking that I needed to do a check, but I don't think it was required. Think I also forgot to unequip Brighid initially in Morytha. The illusion fights also for some reason seemed to auto equip blades). I did also decide to try to get Pythra out of the Malos and JIn fight. Not super useful it turns out.
