The twenty new campers all got changed into their swimwear and hiked up the steep cliff in anticipation for the dangerous yet memorable challenge. As Petunia chatted with her other teammates, she noticed Addison who was still wearing his facial apparel.

"Are you really going to wear an eye patch while you dive?" She asked him playfully.

"No, but I'm nervous about taking it off." Addison rubbed the side of his arm awkwardly.

"Here I'll help… I'm sure it's okay." Petunia untied the eye patch neatly and removed it from her teammate's face. Addison covered his face before she could see. As she pried his hands away from his face, she screamed at the sight which caused the rest of the cast to gather.

"Oh wow..." Ike exclaimed as everyone stared at Addison's right eye... or lack thereof.

"I lost an eye," Addison admitted to the crowd, "It's not a big deal."

CONFESSION

Addison: I was planning on wearing a prosthetic but I forgot to pack one. I thought the eye patch would be more fun anyway. I just hope that my team doesn't think I'm useless cause I don't have any depth perception. At least I don't need glasses or in my case a monocle.

END

As the crowd gathered around the one-eyed teen, Mordecai noticed Cameron, who was wearing a large t-shirt over his swim trunks.

"What are you, self-conscious?" Mordecai teased.

"Uhh… sure?" Cameron laughed awkwardly, "No one wants to see this whole mess I'm hiding."

Liam arrived late to the top of the cliff and surprised everyone as well. Rosie pushed through her teammates to run towards him.

Much to her surprise, Liam's arms were covered in tattoos that were once hidden by his loose sweater.

"You're just going to stare?" Liam asked a stunned Rosie.

"Wha-what are you in some... sort of gang?" Rosie stuttered.

"Why do you ask? Do you need an excuse to be intimidated by me?"

CONFESSION

Rosie: Right now, the most untrustworthy person on my team is Liam. He thrives off the idea that he's intimidating us but I can see right through his facade.

Liam: I met Rosie for the first time this morning, so I'm not sure why she's been super aggressive towards me. She acts like I'm out to get her or something when in reality I don't really care. You'd think I'd murdered her dog or something.

END

"Oh wow," Petunia flattered as she held up Liam's arm, "Do you draw them yourself? They're very cool!"

"Some of them," Liam explained, "I've been mentoring at a shop in Detroit."

"Enough chatter," Bobby interrupted as he joined the teens at the top of the cliff, "The sooner we start the challenge, the sooner we can finish."

"Aren't we supposed to get an advantage for the pasty kids?" Mordecai asked as he pointed over to Cameron and Sara.

"Right," Bobby remembered, "Cameron, Sara, which of you will be accepting the advantage today?"

"I guess I will." Cameron raised his hand.

"Alrighty then, you'll get your advantage in the second part of the challenge. Bass, it's diving time!"

The 10 Bass stared over the cliff at the safe zone below as the gophers stood behind them.

"You all know the drill. Jump into the ring below unless you want to be shark bait. Team with the most jumpers gets wagons."

"Good luck Bass!" Sophie called out to them

"So who wants to go first?" Mavis asked, looking down at the treacherous fall.

"I'll do it!" Malik exclaimed, walking towards Mavis, "We could jump together if you'd like?"

Mavis shook her head and pointed at the edge. Malik leaped over the cliff and Mavis gained the confidence to follow, both landing in the safe zone. Meanwhile, Zarra took one look down the cliff and looked over at the host.

"Yeah no." She said much to the dismay of her team, "I don't jump from high places."

"You know that makes you a chicken, right?" Bobby grabbed a hat and gave it to her. She rolled her eyes and placed it on her head. After this, Cameron hurried his way over to Bobby.

"I don't think I should jump...I recently had surgery so…" Cameron mumbled at the host. Bobby looked at him for a second.

"Right." He nodded slowly. Before Bobby could do anything, Mordecai snuck up to Cameron and shoved him over the edge.

"Ass!" Sara shouted to Mordecai who was watching Cameron land in the safe zone.

"I'm not losing this challenge," Mordecai stated, "Zarra already chickened out and I'm not risking anyone else." Mordecai jumped into the waters after Cameron and Ike and Sara followed.

"I'm not sure about this." Callum trembled at the top of the cliff.

Jacey ran to him for help, "What if we reenact Mordecai pushing Cameron over the edge?"

Callum laughed and proceeded to pretend-push Jacey but lost his footing and tripped on the edge. He grabbed hold of Jacey and they both fell.

"1 chicken 8 jumpers," Bobby announced, "Nora, you're up."

Nora sat alone on the cliff. "I'm not sure..." she whimpered as Bobby squatted down next to her.

"Hey it's okay," Bobby nodded in reassurance, "but it does make you a chicken."

He gave her the chicken hat and sent her down.

"Gophers, it's your turn." Bobby gestured at them towards the edge of the cliff.

"So, who's going first?" Sophie asked eagerly. Rosie shifted her attention to Liam.

"I'm not jumping until I see Liam jump," Rosie badgered, pointing at Liam, "I'm not losing this challenge because of him."

"Does pointing fingers and shouting names make you feel important?" Liam looked down at her. He walked over to the edge and let gravity pull him into the waters. Rosie's eyes widened as she realized she promised to go in after him.

"Well, are you gonna jump or no?" Landon teased as he stood by his brother and watched Rosie's face redden.

"Well hey, we can jump in first." Aiden suggested, "C'mon Landon." As Aiden made a leap into the waters, his brother watched him from the edge of the cliff before sighing and making the leap himself.

"Want me to jump with you?" Junior suggested as he saw Rosie tense up on the cliff. She quietly nodded and took her teammates hand as they jumped from the ledge.

Addison Petunia and Sophie jumped in one after the other. Ivonne watched from the top and pumped herself up for the plunge.

"Hey CJ," She shouted to her lengthy teammate below, "I'm gonna do a backflip!"

As the group in the sand watched in horror, Ike sighed and put his head in his hand. When Ivonne made it into the waters, he noticed that she had missed the safe zone entirely.

"Ivonne!" He called out to her. A few moments later she made it to the shore on her own, "Thank goodness you're a strong swimmer."

Back on the cliff, Juliette stood at the top alone with the host.

"Juliette, you're the last one." Bobby confirmed, "Take the plunge or take the chicken path down."

She hesitated as she looked at the water below, "Just give me the dumb chicken hat!"

"And with that," Bobby shouted to the contestants below, "the Gophers win the first part of today's challenge, there they will be granted the wagons and an extra boost of ego. But first we have an advantage to pass out."

As Bobby made his way to meet with the Bass, the Gophers started loading up their wagons.

"Where's our reward?" Mordecai asked Bobby as he joined them in the sand.

"Right," Bobby remembered, "Cameron since it's technically your reward. You get to pick your prize. But be careful because they may or may not have their own problems. So what'll be? You can have either a manual on how to build a hot tub or a crowbar."

Cameron nervously looked at the two prizes before looking back at his team for assistance. Mordecai mouthed at him to take the manual but his little sister seemed more interested in the crowbar. He swallowed and stared back towards his options.

CONFESSION

Cameron: So I'm weighing my options. I figure if anything the manual has something wrong with it. Also getting the crates open would be easier with the crowbar. But I knew if I picked it Mordecai would hate me. And besides, I think it's fair for Sara to have more of a say in our advantage pick anyways.

END

"I'll take the crowbar." Cameron decided much to the disliking of Mordecai. Bobby handed him the big rusty chunk of metal and sent them on their way.

"If we lose tonight I can guarantee that you'll be the one getting sent home." Mordecai snapped.

CONFESSION

Mordecai: This is the first challenge and we can't take any risks! Like 10 dumb teens know how to build a hot tub from scratch anyway.

Sara: Once Cameron lets me hold the crowbar I'm going to smack Mordecai upside the head with it. He needs to leave my brother alone.

END

The teams set off on the sand trail, lugging their crates along with them. Zarra, Mavis and Nora trailed the rest of the Bass team, dawdling along the trail.

"Nora, I love your hair." Mavis flattered as she pushed on the large crate beside her.

"I always hate having it so short," She explained, "I got gum in my hair a few weeks ago so it all had to come off."

Zarra joked, "Maybe if we're lucky we can get a piece of gum in Mordecai's hair. He could stand to have his ego knocked down a couple pegs."

As the three girls pushed their crates along the beach, they were startled by rival contestant who had jumped out form the bushes towards them.

"Addison!" Mavis scolded, "You scared us half to death!"

Addison explained, "I had to pee! I didn't see you there." As he looked at the three Bass his eye caught a glimpse of Zarra in her black and white bikini, "Hey you need help with that crate?"

"Aren't you on the other team?"

"Uhh…" He stuttered, "Yeah I guess so. But I'm always here if you need anything."

"I think we'll be fine." Nora reassured him before he trotted off.

CONFESSION

Addison: They say that when you meet the love of your life, you just know it. And maybe I've said that about five or six girls at my school but this time I know it's real. In this place of darkness and cabin fever there is a light and her name is Zarra.

END

Father up the beach, Ike caught up with Cameron and started to push his crate alongside him.

"Why is it so heavy?" Cameron complained as he started to slow down.

"I thought it was weird that you were letting your sister ride on top." Ike pointed out Sara who was sitting on top of the crate with the crowbar.

"Sara, please don't." Cameron begged as he shooed her away.

"I need five seconds with it." Sara laughed as she tried to jump back up. He pushed her down and she pouted at him before running off.

"I'm wondering if I should've just taken the manual," Cameron contemplated, "Probably would've been a safer choice for my sister plus Mordecai wouldn't be out to get me.

Ike reassured, "I don't think Mordecai is out to get you. He's probably just a bit tense from all this."

"Well maybe if I watched the show I'd feel the same way," Cameron admitted, "I'm just happy to be outside and to meet new people."

"Well you're lucky to be on the team with your sister. I can't really look after Ivonne if we're supposed to be competing. At least Liam is there with her."

CONFESSION

Ike: Ivonne is tough and probably doesn't need my help, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous seeing the other sibling pairs here get to be on the same team. I bet there's something comforting about knowing at least one person on your team will have your back.

END

As the Gophers rolled their wagons onto the camp grounds, they met with the host in front of the cabins for further instructions.

"So rules say you have to open the crates with your teeth and I don't have any say in the rules so… get crackin'" Bobby instructed.

"No way!" Juliette refused as she looked at the crates.

Aiden laughed, "I'll get these crates open in no time, right Landon?" Landon rolled his eyes at his brother as he watched him shove a paint stick into the box and push down on it with his mouth.

CONFESSIONAL

Landon: Aiden has the type of personality that will instantly make people like him. He just knows how to show off and be himself all the time and everyone loves it. My teammates are gonna boot one of us early, no reason for us both to be here. And I'm sure at this rate it's going to be me.

Aiden: I think it's great being here with Landon. He really needs to come out of his shell a little bit and I'm hoping this competition will help him with that. I'm not sure what he needs but I'll make sure he gets that push.

END

As the Gophers were almost finished getting their crates open, the Bass team made their way over, exhausted and sweaty.

"Have fun getting those crates open losers!" Rosie mocked. Cameron smirked and waved his crowbar at her.

"Bobby, how is that fair!" Rosie complained while running to the host.

"He gets an advantage, remember?" Bobby responded monotonously, "you'll get your advantage at some point too."

She stomped back over to her team who had finished unpacking the boxes. Junior was unpacking a box of wooden slabs and inspected them carefully.

"These boards are no good." Junior pointed out as he knocked on the slab.

"That's cheap total drama budget for ya." Addison laughed as he spread out the pieces.

The Bass quickly opened their crates and unpacked their boxes.

"So does anyone know how to build a hot tub?" Mordecai rolled his eyes, "reminder that Cameron lost us the manual."

"Can't be too hard," Ike reassured, "I've set up a few hot tubs before so building one shouldn't be too hard."

"Perfect," Mordecai ethusthed before looking over at Cameron, "At least someone is useful on this team."

CONFESSION

Mordecai: First day here, I'm not super impressed with my team. Most of them either act like they don't care or are distracted by other useless things. The only person I feel like I can trust is Ike. He seems pretty naive enough to join me in an alliance. I guess we'll see how this plays out.

END

The hour goes by and both teams are nearly done with their hot tubs. The gophers were taking a small lead and were preparing to fill the tub with water.

"We need the rings tighter!" Rosie instructed Liam and Addison as they were putting on the last piece. They tightened it ever so slightly and the boards snapped causing the hot tub to fall apart completely.

"I told you it wasn't going to hold." Junior mocked as Rosie fell to the ground.

"We're so dead. This is the end." Rosie cried.

"What if we use a crate as the vessel instead?" Sophie suggested pointing to the empty crates, "It's at least better than nothing."

"It's not a terrible idea but we'll have to improvise." Addison enthused while grabbing the pump.

A while later, the two teams were finished with their hot tubs and Bobby inspected them.

"The Bass have a pretty good hot tub. And the Gophers poured water in one of their crates." Bobby observed, "I think it's pretty clear who wins this challenge… the Bass! Which means you get to keep the hot tub for the remainder of the season.

The Bass celebrated and Callum jumped in from the grass. The impact caused a board of the tub to break and the water to drain out.

"Callum!" Mavis shouted at him.

"Ooh that sucks." Bobby noted before turning to the other team, "Gophers get ready to vote someone off tonight because there will be an elimination ceremony after dinner."

The Gophers solemnly went back to their cabins to change.

"No hot tub no problem," Ike reassured his team, "We can still enjoy the nice weather and have a little party outside."

"Yeah let's eat out here," Malik enthused, "We still got first win. Let's party!"

CONFESSION

Ike: I have to say, I'm a little surprised we won tonight. There were definitely bumps in the road to get here. But I think we managed to pull through.

Sara: Winning? I don't really care. There is no such thing as winning in nature, however there is a thing called 'getting even' which is what I plan to do. No one tries to kill big brother except me, so the freckly boy has to pay. Also, I need to get even with Cam because he still owes me like $40 in chore money.

END

As the Bass set up their victory party outside the cabins, the gophers ate their dinner in the dining hall as the thought of elimination loomed over them.

"Someone better join me in voting off Liam." Rosie demanded of her team.

"I'm sitting right here," Liam deadpanned, "also I wasn't the one who broke the boards." He looked over at Junior.

"I didn't break them!" He deflected, "I just said they were weak."

"Like your attitude!" Rosie yelled, "Bobby hates us because of you, so if you stay, you need to stay quiet!"

CONFESSION

Junior: Honestly, Rosie doesn't know what she's doing. She just yells… things, mostly at Liam but she just needs to deflect all the time. Maybe she's just as disturbed to be here as I am. I'd never win. But if I get to see Rosie leave before me that'd be worth it.

END

"Hey what happened to Jules and Aiden?" Sophie pointed out.

"Aiden went to use the bathroom," Liam answered, "No clue where Juliette went."

"Listen, Landon spoke up, "You can vote for whoever you want, I'm gonna vote off my brother tonight."

"Aww how come?" Ivonne asked.

"He's been having this sickness come and go for the past year or so and he told me earlier that he's worried about it coming back. I'm just worried about him. I want to see him win but I think I'll just have to win for him."

"Pretty cold voting off your brother though." Junior commented.

"Like I said, vote for whoever you want."

The Gophers looked around at each other thinking of the elimination and what's to come.

As Aiden started to head back into the dining hall from the washrooms, he noticed a figure looking out into the starry night sky and sitting alone on the edge of the dock. He crept over, noticed it was Juliette and sat beside her.

"Scared of going home?" Aiden asked.

"Maybe a little bit." Juliette responded, "Man, is it always this cold here?"

"Well this is my first time in Muskoka so I'm not-"

"No, I mean Canada in general." Juliette explained, "As much as I love it here, sometimes I miss the warmer summers."

"Yeah it's usually a little cold." Aiden responded warmly. He looked over at her looking out into the night sky over the calm waters. As she crossed her arms and shivered at the breeze, he removed his pullover and set it in her lap.

"You can borrow my hoodie if you'd like. Well technically it's Landon's but he won't mind."

She giggled, "Thank you. So, are you worried about going home?"

"A little… my brother probably wants me gone. He always felt like he was living in my shadow or something but I just want to make him feel happy."

"There you guys are!" Sophie interrupted, "The ceremony is starting." The two of them looked at each other and headed with their teammate towards the campfire. The 10 of them sat in the smoky heat of the fire and the host stood among them holding up a tray of marshmallows.

"You all know what these are. A gooey treat that represents your freedom and security in this competition. When I call your name you can come up and receive a marshmallow. If I don't call your name you'll head over to the dock and take a one way trip on the loser boat."

"First marshmallow goes to…

...Addison…

...Petunia...

...Ivonne…

They claimed their marshmallows as the others shifted in their seats.

...Landon...

...Junior…

...Sophie…

...Juliette…

...Liam…

Rosie, Aiden, I have one marshmallow left on my plate. One of you will be joining the others tonight by the skin of your teeth, the other will be packing up tonight and leaving Total Drama Island. And you can never come back… supposedly. And the final marshmallow goes to

….

….

….

….

...Rosie."

She sighed happily and grabbed her marshmallow.

"Sorry dude," Bobby put a hand on Aiden's shoulder, "you got a ticket to loser town."

Aiden walked sadly towards the dock and hugged his brother.

"Get better soon!" Sophie waved.

He raised an eyebrow to Sophie and hopped on the boat. Juliette watched until the boat left and Addison led her back to camp past the partying Bass.

"And that wraps up our first elimination. Will the Gophers fall apart before they can win a challenge? Will the Bass be able to keep winning? And who's leaving the island next? Tune in next time on Total Drama Island"
